Yes, this is what i keep saying. The solution to this problem is to stop cultivating a community that says "memememe" and start banning people harshly for ruining games. Literally every other online multiplayer game does this right now. Why can't DBD?
Are any of the other online multiplayer games as casual as DBD is?
-
We're going to have this problem for a long time. This past year showed us that people want to punish people for giving up, but they don't want to encourage them to keep playing.

A big problem is people trying to approach the argument from the concept of 'fairness'.
Take the idea that it would be fair for survivors to get 15 seconds of endurance if there are only two remaining.
Except turning a situation where one survivor is alive and one on hook into both escaping is extremely unlikely. At best, the survivor coming in for a rescue is going to trade. Or, in other words, if you boil the game down just to just this single scenario, it's unfair, far more unfair than the 4 survivors alive for the killer scenario.
But if survivors suggested that if there were only two survivors alive the game should make an 8m zone around the hook that the killer couldn't enter to create a 'fair' scenario for both sides, killers would rightly jump all over the idea.
Basically: "fairness" can't be discussed without taking the entire game into account.
Yeah, there is no fairness in this game, is there? Either that, or the people who claim to want fairness actually don't. Does anyone even know what "fairness" is in this game?

It would be more acceptable in Endgame. But then we are at the point where we have to ask why Survivors should be punished for playing well.
IMO it would be better if it would be somehow tied to unique Hooks the Killer has. I think it is more justified if a Killer who has 6+ Hooks in Endgame and did not tunnel gets an advantage in Endgame compared to the Killer who has 1 Hook before reaching Endgame, because they tried to tunnel.
Survivors are already punished for playing well, so I don't think this would change that.
On the other hand, I could also see how this would lead to asking how many more comeback mechanics Killers need.
-
There have been complaints about it, particularly during the anniversary event (and probably the events that followed as well). I don't see anything going back to the way it was, though…

So in other words, the anti-tunnel would only activate AFTER tunnelling has already happened.
Brilliant. What a deterrent.
On one hand, it's a valid point, but the OP's complaint is specifically about the endgame. Would Jay_K's idea be acceptable if it only applied in endgame?

Absolutely. Hatch in general is a miserable way to try and make a game 'interesting'. I've never went 'Omg hatch spawned!" and my blood pressure went up. Hatch is ancient and personally idc if it goes or stays.
Gates powering on hatch close? Remove hatch, remove this issue. But this would be a BHVR decision, not 'those same people.' Bhvr issue, not players.
"Remove hatch, remove this issue," but then what are you left with? A game that's already lost well before it's over. And we have enough Survivors giving up early as it is. Do you want to make that issue worse?

Yes, you can run 4 DS, you can use shoulder and there are no rules for items nor perks. Meaning if you are good DS xan provide more value against a killer rather than in comp. Using DS and then somehow getting downed at shack in less than a minute is not DS being bad, its the player being bad.
In this game, I have to wonder what it means to be "good" as a Survivor. To survive being tunneled, you would not only have to be "good," but you'd have to be much MUCH better than the Killer. And there's probably only less than 1% of the playerbase who is that much more skilled than the Killer, even if they're considered generally good.

It literally can win you the match, however you need to be good. If you use DS and go down after 30 seconds of course it wont do anything. Ds has literally changed the outcome of a lot of comp matches, saying it doesn't do anything is like saying an instrument is useless because you don't know how to play it.
Are you aware that most of us don't play comp matches?

The fact that its still at 4 and not even back to 3 is because BHVR went back on their promise a long time ago.
The original DS was 3 seconds, and enduring worked on all stuns, making DS basically useless. So they buffed DS to 5 seconds, with the intent that when they changed enduring to only work on pallet stuns, that they would change DS back to the 3 seconds.
This is reflected by the 2.6.0 patch making enduring work on all stuns. Then in 2.6.3 they made DS 5 seconds. Then in 3.0.0 the changed enduring to only work on pallet stuns, but didn't change DS to 3 seconds until 6.1.0. Then they made it 5 seconds again in 7.7.0 and then back to 4 seconds in 8.0.0.
So really, they buffed DS from its original plan of being 3 seconds (as it was originally designed) by the end of it.
I'll agree that a 4 second stun against a nurse or blight though is far less meaningful than a 4 second stun against a trapper. Its why i think that DS should also temporarily disable the killer's power for a few seconds as well.
Do you run DS? How much does it help you?

In my opinion there needs to be about 10 second grace period before the abandoning option becomes available to remove the unneeded end game abandonings when the survivor is going to die in few seconds anyway when killer moris. It also would give survivors time to contemplate if the abandoning is needed as some people seem to have it be auto leave when available even when there was not real need to do it.
There so far has not been good argument to add anymore abandoning options anyway and this is not a good one either.
Maybe there isn't a good argument to add more abandon options, but I'd be willing to bet that that's the route that BHVR will be more likely to take. They sure don't seem too eager to address the pain points for either side.

A 5v5 would be really interesting, particualry if each killer had to try to protect their group of survivors from the other killer. There's already a hint of this in 2v8, when one killer doesn't want a particular survivor to die and tries to bodyblock the other killer.
If 5v5 were to happen, we'd need some way for Survivors to defend against the opposing Survivors. I can see groups of three pinning someone against a wall or something, and that would be bad...
-
I also wanted the 5v5 mode for this reason, and I'm still waiting for the day when it'll become a reality. We really do need a new game mode at this point, because even 2v8 is starting to get old... 😭

Can be better than nothing but one bog reason why you may struggle against them is fact that you dont face them often, if you would play against them very often I bet you would get way better in countering them.
Another thing about bots they dont often do kind of plays a real players do like huntress bot only has hatchet up when she has clear line of sight but that if that los is broken she just goes brainlesly after you in situations where real player would charge hatchet and held angel on you the bot would just wind up hatchet and put it down or no mind games from bots or tricks and techs just more of clasic killer chasong you down with brute forcing everything, as I said better than nothing but like smaller half of what you can lear to counter against these killers not to mention they often dont miss things like dashes on wesker if you are in reach or dont expect doge on sound cues like on huntress ( they throw at you and dont expect even simple doge to left and things like this real player does), but still better than nothing at worst you will see these killers against you more than 3 times per year.
Yeah, that is true, and I've also been playing a lot less in general. I also know that different players could play the same Killer in different ways, so that just reinforces my point about not having a reliable way to practice against them. But the bots would be better than nothing…
-
In my second game ever, I tried to Head On the Killer, not realizing that I needed a perk for that. Even if I did, I screwed it up royally by slow-exiting the locker, and the Killer yoinked me. Oops! 😅
-
I've got a couple of couples in my fanfiction.
Huntress x Dwight
Nemesis x Rebecca. XD
-
I always hated when someone burned a hatch offering, because it also told the Killer where it would be, but I also knew it would be just as bad to hide it from everyone. Imagine if the Killer played the hatch offering; the last Survivor would have no chance to find it.
For these reasons, I'd also be in favor of removing the hatch offerings entirely, and let the race for hatch be played fairly.

I wouldn´t say Kindred is needed.
Just let me as Survivor log in a hook which is shown on the HUD that I am going for the unhook.
Like Alien can choose his exit before moving.
This would help Soloque only since SWFs already know that I will go. While aura read still can be abused.
Do we really need to clutter the HUD any more than it already is? The only additional thing I can see being useful for the HUD is some kind of resolve bar like in 1v4, that could tell us when the cage is about to be moved.
-
This is why some form of Kindred is needed, even if it's limited to showing Survivors who are within a certain range of the caged Survivor.
-
I wouldn't mind going against Killer bots. There's a lot of Killers I struggle against, but have no reliable way to practice against them. I'd just have to rely on random encounters and then fail hard again and not really learn anything…
-
Healing a freshly unhooked Survivor right under the hook is a bad idea in general. You should move somewhere, behind a nearby wall or rock, before healing.

while i agree tunneling is mostly effective due to survivors own mistakes, this is way more than 1%. playing as killer and survivor i can pretty much guarantee at some point in 90% of matches people will make mistakes and bad choices that enable the killer to tunnel. It truly is astonishing how many people with over 3k hours still unhook way too soon or unhook when still in the killers TR…even looping the killer next to the hooked survivor.
Tunneling does have nuance behind it, i for example hard tunnel at 5 gens almost every time. i have to make a judgment call if that person im tunneling is too good and need to change targets, if they are in a good loop location, if too many gens are popping, try to push the one im tunneling into a position where they have to run towards the gen workers thus tunneling and maintaining map pressure. If the survivors are too strong then tunneling will fail and i will need to change tactics
I think the whole "your not facing good survivors" is sort of a non argument. I could say if you can loop the killer for more than 30sec then you are not going against a good killer. I have thousands of hours of this game playing both sides and i have seen the difference between good and bad players, when i first started playing i was going against pretty bad players and i won without tunneling. As time went on i started getting SWF swat teams that knew what they were doing, knew how to loop, knew every inch of the maps. These teams are good and trying to beat them without tunneling was getting me nowhere. When i started tunneling i evened the odds. it meant i could stand toe to toe with these teams and things were a lot more balanced.
"Tunneling doesn't work against good players."
"You have to tunnel against good players in order to win."
Which is it? It can't be both ways.

You can crawl to the shack and then around the map, like you usually do in search for the hatch. You can crawl there in advance, like again, survivors usually do when they camp the hatch. That's still "agency" by your definition: they still can do somewhat meaningful actions.
Pretty sure you're just trolling at this point because you can't counter my argument.
But you are the one who is doing the hairsplitting here, as if "just push them out" is not trolling enough. You are looking for minuscule differences in essentially the same situation to justify the disparity between the freedoms that survivors and killers have. I only show you that two can play this game, and you can "just crawl out" the same way the killer is supposed to "just push them out". It might sound ridiculous only because the original of this mirror reflection is also ridiculous, which you refuse to acknowledge.
The thesis stays the same: survivors can leave when they think they've lost, the killer can't leave until all survivors are done with him. Similar situation, different privileges. The injustice of this is obvious to any unbiased player, but those who only play survivor just want killers to suffer, so they try to "justify" it by saying "hey, just swallow the humiliation :)", an "argument" which somehow doesn't work when used against survivors themselves.
It's not trolling, and it's not hairsplitting. Survivors have the option to abandon, Killers have the option to push Survivors out. Both roles have options. It really is that simple.
You're the one hairsplitting by saying stuff like, "Survivors can just crawl." Sure, we do have that option, but we don't have to do that any more than you have to stand at the gate and watch the Survivors teabag.

not sure how basekit unbreakable equates to this situation. basekit unbreakable would mean survivors could get up and play the match as normal and possibly win in a situation that the killer has clearly won. If we are going this road then killers should have basekit bloodwarden so they could turn a clearly lost match into a win.
We're discussing reasons why Survivors can abandon when they're slugged, did you forget that? I'm really confused on what your point is at this point. If you're arguing that Killers shouldn't have to waste their time, I'm pointing out that YOU are choosing to waste your time by refusing to push Survivors out.

Yes, it would stop them from humping. Crawl to the hatch, end the match, gg next. Why is that so difficult? You want to waste time lying there crying while the Killer is taking a walk, that's on you.
Why is that so difficult? Because we don't know where the hatch is. And like Ampersand said, if there's more than one Survivor alive, then there is no hatch. Pretty sure you're just trolling at this point because you can't counter my argument.

What a wonderful solution.
And yanno Survivors can just EAT there L too wouldn't that be nice instead of letting them just abandon instantly.
But Alas no. They get to throw in the Towel while killer has to endure there childish antics.Yes, Survivors have already lost at that point. No reason to wait until the game tells them that they've lost. That's why the abandon feature was implemented.

i feel your not getting the point.
killers have a choice…..slow dragged out end (wait for timer to expire) but avoid the celebration at the gates OR speed the process up by pushing them out while enduring the celebration.
You already agree if survivors were put in this position they wouldnt be happy about it. They would have the choice….slow dragged out end (wait for timer to expire) but avoid the mori OR speed the process up by activating mori and endure the celebration.
IF survivors had this choice, would your response be survivors have the option to do something about it? just activate the mori, deal with the celebration and end it?
bottom line is, for killers, there is no option available to them to end a lost match quickly without enduring the survivors celebration at the gates. saying just push them out would be the same as telling a survivor just activate a self mori. its making them endure a celebration they dont want to see in order to end it faster.
If Survivors had Basekit Unbreakable, then sure, they can do that rather than abandon. But we have to operate under the assumption that no one's running the perk, until the day comes when we can see our teammates' perks during the match.

If we changed this so players had to watch the mori instead of instant abandon im willing to bet a lot of people would not be happy because they dont want to see the winner celebration at the end.
Yeah, they wouldn't be happy about it, and there'd be nothing they can do. Killers, on the other hand, can do something about Survivors at the exit gate. They just refuse to use the option available to them.

the process of hitting them out the gate involves walking up to them while they are tbagging, killer hits 1….they do a few more tbags then walk away. Another survivor is there too….repeat the same process. So in order to get them out so less time is wasted the killer has to go through tbags.
The killer has a choice, push them out and endure the tbags. or wait out the timer in the corner of the map. either choice is not a good one for the killer, thats the point.
The survivor equivalent would be something like, if the downed survivor had a choice of waiting out the timer or starting their own mori to end it quicker. However this is not the case, survivors can instantly abandon without any downsides. They maintain MMR, they maintain BP, they skip the "victory celebration" of the mori.
I'm sure many would be willing to start their own mori to get out of the match faster. After all, they were willing to give up on hook while they had that option.

@Junylar said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055772#Comment_4055772
So, if they kill you - the "time wasting" is over? The same with standing at the gates: the killer can't kill the survivors, as they can just leave instantly when the killer approaches. And yet it doesn't stop you from justifying the absence of the killer abandon. The killer can't kill survivors at the gates the same way the crawling survivor can't escape at the killer's face. But the killer "has agency" to pathetically "push the survivors out", while accepting the humiliation, and so the survivor "has agency" to pathetically crawl towards the hatch. Both are practically pointless and humiliating in a similar way, yet for some reason only survivors have the freedom to avoid it.
Yeah, if they kill me, the time wasting is over. It sure beats humping me and bleeding me out. If you push the Survivors out, the time wasting (and the humiliation) is over. You avoid it by pushing them out, so why you refuse to do so is beyond me.

By the same logic: a slugged survivor can make a comeback, by crawling to the hatch, wiggling out or by self unhook. Or if nothing else, they can force a pick up by crawling closer to the hatch, that's analogous to the "just push them out" mental gymnastics of survivor-only players.
Or if nothing else, they can force a pick up by crawling closer to the hatch, that's analogous to the "just push them out" mental gymnastics of Survivor-only players.
Actually, you're wrong there. Killers don't have to pick you up while you're crawling to the Hatch. They'll just mori you, so there's no chance to wiggle off. Nothing a Survivor can do about that.

So you agree it's a lost cause.
So why aren't killers allowed to leave this obviously lost game and still collect bp?
Survivors get too.
Why not killers? Do killers -HAVE- to endure Survivor toxcity in order for the game to end?No, you don't HAVE to stand there and watch Survivors teabag at the exit gates.
Survivors have the option to abandon.
Killers have the option to hit Survivors out at the exit gates.
Nothing is FORCING you to stand there and watch. If you refuse to use the option available to you, that's on you.

so when survivors are slugged or hooked, they have lost but any time before that they can make a comeback. the only difference between killer and survivor in these situations is that survivors can now abandon instantly but the killer has to have their time wasted by actually hitting them out the gate.
Personally i think killers should be able to abandon instantly like survivors can OR survivors should have a cool down before they can abandon so it equates to a similar time waste that killers have to endure.
Survivors didnt like their time wasted in a lost match and they were very vocal about it and they now have the abandon. Im not surprised killers are now thinking "hang on, my time is being wasted too".
Yeah, I wouldn't oppose just ditching the DC penalty so that we can all leave whenever we want. But we know that's not going to happen, so I guess we're all screwed.
