Just telling what I saw everyday. You can "lol" all you want, but fact is a fact.

If you are telling about some mythical "high MMR" and tournament-level, I dont give a slightest f, i'm on low MMR, obviously (with 10% success rate), so as hundreds of people I'm matched with.

Your personal experience of killers having a 90% kill rate against you is not indicative of the entire game. All you are doing is telling on yourself about your own skill level.

  • Killers are still whining? Man you must have really missed all the survivors whining.

  • Because outside of my main survivor, the other survivors I use for challenges or themed builds for a challenge. And often I don't feel like investing BP into those characters to get more items so I would rather just bring no items.

I just want killers to realize you don’t need, nor are you entitled, to 4K every match. This belief that you do is why so many survivors hate playing against certain killer styles. As someone said above, I just want a well rounded match with a good amount of BP to make it worth my time. I don’t NEED to escape to have fun in a match. I just don’t want to be tunneled out or face camped to death in 2 minutes because killers decided that they need to make the game a 3v1 immediately because they “have” to 4K. I’m also not gonna play a 45 minute match because of immediate 3 genning and refusing to chase, but instead just camping the 4 gen.

Survivors are not entitled to an escape either. A killer is free to play how they want. If they desire to try their hardest to win, that is their choice. The idea that killers have to play nicer so survivors can "enjoy" their match is entitlement.

  • @TigerSnake said:

People need to stop complaining about 3 gens as there’s no way to eliminate them without severely tilting the game in the survivors’ favor. Even nerfing CoB and OC wouldn’t stop someone like Skully from doing it.

That's the end goal of all these complaints. Make it so the survivor side doesn't have to try to break up a 3 gen defense. Doesn't have to try to stop a tunneling attempt. Doesn't have to try to save a survivor on hook with a killer nearby.

But playing for the 4K at all costs is the problem. Coming to each match with the hammer down just isn't fun. It's not fun for me as a killer, and it's certainly not fun for the surv team, especially when, as they often are, not a cracked squad.

Of course the killer isn't going to 4K every game, no one does that. But feeling the match out for a minute before going full bore isn't the worst thing, is it? Most times you'll find you can win without being a sweatlord.

People who play PvP games try to win at the game. There's no problem.

  • @Tatiana5 said:

Well why do killers need to have 4k every single time? I heard that for equality, 2 survs should be escaping each match. Not a 4k every time, not 4 survivors escaping every time. This kind of gameplay is what will make people quit. Sometimes I play surv, sometimes killer, and I'd rather lose the match than resort to this kind of behavior. I find it cheap, reprehensible and lacks skill..... I guess others can do what they want but then they better make the game evolve around 3v1 or less since almost every game someone goes LD or quits on first hook.

A killer playing for the 4K does not mean they 4K every game. Just like survivors playing to escape don't always escape.

  • The killer's role is to kill the survivors. Killing a survivor early by tunneling makes the game much easier to manage since a 3v1 is more ideal than a 4v1. It has nothing to do with taking the game seriously. Survivors don't leave gens they are currently working on to start gens that have no progress.

Until there's a reason for killers to spread hooks, forcing out early kills will always be the best way to play.

Even as a Merchant enjoyer the update at best is mediocre. Seriously who actually wanted the scream radius change?

Not only are the scream changes bad, but this chapter has 9 new perks and they are largely just forgettable perks. A lot of them are too weak for what they are trying to accomplish meanwhile the couple that might be good require a lot of things to go right before you get the value meaning you are still better off running the same perks as before this patch.

  • A killer power should impose some kind of threat to the survivor if they chose to ignore it. If survivors ignore the drone's area, they get exposed. It's fair as it is. It reminds me of when people were asking to removing pinhead's chains from preventing survivors from working on gens as if that wasn't the whole point of the power.

Not every killer has to have no chase power or map mobility. BHVR keeps releasing killers that incentivize the worst aspects of the game such as tunneling and camping a 3 gen.

I am genuinely convinced that people say they like Skull Merchant are trolling. There's a reason the matchmaking incentive is still 100% killer despite a new chapter dropping...

Oh and also all of the perks they've released besides 2 are complete garbage. They also completely gutted several other perks along with the patch.

It's not killer design that incentivizes tunneling. It's the fact that killing a survivor early slows down progress way more than spreading hooks.

Skull Merchant could have nurse level of chase power and you'll still see tunneling, because it's simply the best way to win with how dbd is currently designed.

  • None of your issues gives killer a reason to not tunnel. Both of your changes still make killing a survivor early the best situation for the killer compared to spreading hooks.

If you truly want tunneling to be less appealing, buff spreading hooks so that a killer who spread hooks has better control over the gens than an early kill.

  • Her adept was a pain since it felt like you were basically playing perkless most of the game.

yeah she does have a variety of addons...was looking into a skill check build but wasnt sure if it would be strong enough on her

I think the skill check build would be too gimimcky. The problem is survivors can just disable your drone and then the skill check part has no relevance.

Although it could work on multi-level maps, because the active drone's area go through floors.

  • I was running the addon to gave her haste + action speed increase. But I was running out of those so I was messing with Expired Batteries.

I did try randomised strobes, but once I learned it was only 3 seconds of hindered and being in the drone area didn't refresh it, I stopped using them.

  • My build that I've been having good success with is:

Jolt, Spirit Fury, Enduring, and Sloppy. Also I run the exhaustion inflicting addon so I don't have to deal with Dead Hard.

Three gens will be done by the moment she finally hooks someone. Her early game is absolutely atrocious, even gathering stacks for Spirit Fury will still require some of your precious time. Also she doesn't get the bonus until the drone is fully deployed which makes her purple addon kind of lackluster. I usually end up kicking a gen or pallet before the drone has even has fully set up the radius. I do see the value of her green screw addon but it's quite the hassle to constantly recall drones to have a spare one ready for this type of thing.

Micro managing your drones is a big part to her power. I'm constantly checking my drones, reactivating one that need to be, and calling back drones to have one to place in a chase. She might just not be your type of killer and that's fine. The biggest thing that took time to learn was that drones are placed where you hit M2 and not where you are at the end of the animation. Getting used to that helped make placing effective drones.

I've been running sloppy on her and sometimes in the early game I'll hit and run some survivors, try to get some pallets out, and try to build an area to defend. If I can get an early down, that's great. But she definitely shines better defending a smaller area like Trapper and Hag.

I still think she's a relatively weak killer as she trades lethality for information and while information can be very useful she can certainly struggle on maps with many strong tiles. She's also kind of addon dependent, because without addons her power does very little in chase.

Though I did have a game where I caught a survivor in the corner of the map, had the drone cover the entire tile, and just waited for the expose to build up and got an early down that way.

  • If I took screenshots, I could simply post the several games I got a 4K as Skull Merchant.

I don't find her to be nearly as bad as people are saying. You can improve her chase with spirit fury + enduring and she has an exhaustion addon that is easy to apply to stop dead hard. She also has an addon to increase her pallet break speed for spirit fury + enduring combo.

Her drones are effective for watching an area. You can even use her drones to scout for survivors going for a pallet/flashlight save after downing a survivor.

  • Her information game is pretty huge, because the drone tracking can't be hidden against you. You can down a survivor, throw out a drone by the body and immediately see if there's anyone nearby trying to go for a save.

I've found her drones are really effective on maps like Midwich, because the drone can lockon survivors on different floors. Only downside is drones only active by survivors from LoS so you have to constantly be re-activating your drones.

Lastly I've been running Spirit Fury + Enduring on her so I can deal with pallets better.

  • Maybe resolve whatever issue is causing you to disconnect frequently from dbd matches. Getting a 24 hour penalty means you are d/cing out of a lot of games.

  • Even if they made Leverage work on self-healing. It's still a terrible perk. 30 seconds of healing speeds being reduced by 5% on your first hook. Sure it scales up 5% per each stack and you get a stack per a hook. But by the time you start getting to significant values, you should have killed someone.

Just run sloppy butcher, because survivors can't just wait out the 30 seconds against sloppy and doesn't require a hook.

  • Lockers are the worst thing to be able to teleport to imo.

Gen teleports (Sadako/Freddy) are much better just because you are guaranteed to be near the thing you need to defend. Then you have nurse whose teleport allows them to ignore 99% of the map. Or hag who can set up the zone to defend and can guarantee herself good places to teleport to.

Lockers are map dependent. Swamp maps don't have many locker spawns vs Midwich where lockers are basically everywhere.

  • Besides Eruption since it is getting removed, the only other form of timed incapacitated is from a huntress addon that I've never seen anyone use because it's 5 seconds.

Unless the devs plan to add a bunch of perks that inflict timed incapacitated (which I hope they don't), it's largely a status inflicted by specific powers that force survivors to have to interact with a power.

There's no reason to change Vigil over the huntress addon.

  • I don't go out of my way to camp or tunnel, but the idea that a killer shouldn't try to swing the game to their advantage at start is weird. Survivors aren't expected to work on gens only when the killer has gotten their first hook.

Simply put, it's not scummy for a killer to try to kill a survivor at 4/5 gens. It's their role to kill survivors. There's no reason a killer has to wait some arbitrary time to try to win. Not to mention the game gives no incentive to spread hooks, because hook states do nothing by themselves.

  • Ultimately there's never been a benefit spreading hooks so the best play has always been to force an early survivor death.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Yeah if we’re going by that logic then Artist was meant to be candyman and legion was meant to be Ghostie

It’s just BHVR’s take on a style of horror character so of course there will be overlap

It also ignores the fact that BHVR can simply just be inspired by other horror characters.

  • What stopped you from going for a Deliverance save earlier in the game?

  • Reverting DS wouldn't stop tunneling from being the best strategy. If you really want to reduce tunneling, give killers a reward for spreading hooks. Spreading hooks does not help control gens like removing a survivor from the game does.

  • Blindness has been needing a buff like Hemorrhage. I don't think bhvr needs to remove blindness addons as give killers more reason to want to inflict blindness on the survivor.

  • Inner Healing is fine. CoH being a problem does not mean we should inner healing a problem as well.

  • There's nothing unhealthy about tunneling or camping. The fact of the matter is the game only rewards the killer for killing survivors.

3 hooks on 1 survivors is a dead survivor. 3 survivors with 1 hook each is nothing.

If tunneling/camping were to be address, you would need to make a reward for spreading hooks to be better than just straight up going for a kill.

Dredge, spirit, doctor, clown, billy, and so many killer perks would basically destroy this new version you’ve came up with. You would lose the perk and it’d be an empty perk slot in less than 2 gens.

There's not a single killer perk that provides Killer Instinct. Killer Instinct is solely related to killer powers except that Spirit gets hers via an addon instead of just being a basekit thing with her power.

  • Being killed by the killer is part of survivor gameplay. A killer focusing you out of the game is not preventing you from playing.

  • If you really want to make tunneling/camping less appealing then make spreading hooks worthwhile. 3 survivors with 1 hook each is far worse than 1 survivor with 3 hooks.

  • As long as there is no benefit to spreading out hooks, tunneling and camping will be the best method to win games.

  • Non-license killers can be inspired by licensed content. Doesn't mean that BHVR had a license fall through.

I used DS for ages until the meta shake-up and I am 99.99% certain the words were "DECREASES the chance of being the killer's obsession" until very recently. I didn't find anything about that in the patch notes either. I remember that DS did not make you the obsession because killers started to slug obsessions because they knew that way they had DS.

    This is why I'm confused.

Both the wiki and in-game description list on DS stating "increases chance of obsession".

I do remember a talk about changing ds to make it decrease the chance, but that seems to have never happen as the wiki does not list that change at all.

  • Both Object and DS increase your odds of being selected as the obsession by 100%. It was a 50/50 on whether you would be selected or Jane.

There's no bug. You are just unlucky.

  • A regressing gen that is blocked will no longer lose gen progress while blocked, but it will continue to regress once it becomes unblocked.

This is how blocked gens worked originally and got bugged to still regress while blocked.

  • With multiple ways for killers to have aura reading, that helps burn distortion stacks faster than they regenerate. Not to mention, you were playing Wraith who can spend most the match undetectable thus limiting a survivor's ability to gain stacks back.

I don't see a need for distortion to be nerf since it's finally in a decent spot where it's worth running, but not to a degree that you see everyone bringing it.

Also I don't think new Eruption is great aura reading perk. SWF on comms can still negate the aura reading which brings it back to the same issue of a perk being much weaker against swf.

  • If they killswitched over sound issues, then the entire game would be kill switched.

  • Survivors have been saying for years the game will die if BHVR doesn't nerf camping and tunneling and here we are.

  • I still think we need more crow charms.

  • Nowhere to Hide doesn't need anything like charges or a cooldown. It's already restricted to the fact Killers can't kick regressing gens.

  • DS and OTR are perks.

    Basekit BT isn't a perk.

Whether or not it should be disabled during EGC, I don't feel like discussing. But this is likely why the basekit BT isn't disabled during EGC is because it's an innate feature built into unhooking rather than a perk.

  • Until killers don't have to worry about losing 3 gens in the first chase alone, I don't see a reason to nerf 3 gen strats.

  • The devs just need to make some innate reward to spreading out hooks. Some kind of buff for the killer or debuff on the survivors that is awarded based on the amount of hooks put on different survivors. As it stands, the best way to control the speed of the game is to remove a survivor which means you don't want to spread out hooks.

  • Let's say a gen is 75% done.

If you took 10% total progress, it would be 65% done.

If you took 10% current progress, it would be 67.5% done (10% of 75 is 7.5).

Personally, I think current % regression is healthier and easier to balance around since it means the killer gets less value out of gens that don't have much progress so it's harder for killers to stack regression to fully reset progress. I think a problem with the Eruption change is that unlike Pop which went from 20% total to 25% current, Eruption got no buff to compensate the change from total to current.

  • I don't think they hate gen regression, because they still keep gen regression perks in the game. But the perks are just tricky to balance. When they are too strong, survivors don't really get a chance to make any progress which is a bad experience the devs don't want. But when they are too weak, killers don't feel like they can really compete against good squads.

With the survivor hud changes, hopefully we'll see better changes for killers.

Personally I think current % regression is healthier for the game, because it means it's harder for killers to reset progress completely.

  • There's always going to be someone (on both sides) who has something to complain about. It's really hard to please everyone.
