  • The whole point of fake pallets is that they are meant to trick survivors into thinking there is a pallet where there is not one. A perk should never negate this aspect.

  • I don't think we need to cap the amount of times a survivor can heal like this. If healing is truly a problem, then let's give healing Freddy wake up treatment, each time you are fully healed it takes longer to heal.

  • There's nothing wrong with it. Some people just don't like being the first person to lose. It's an asym elimination game, tunneling is always going to exist unless the devs completely change the game so survivors don't get eliminated.

No, every time anyone wanted to address tunnelling or camping, the thread got snowed in with 'valid tactics' and 'can't win without it' comments. Killers asked for tunnelling and camping to be protected.

Tunneling is valid and the game being an asym elimination game means that tunneling will always exist. The problem with a lot of "nerf tunneling/camping" topics are that they want to make it impossible for the killer to tunnel or camp while giving nothing in return which just makes the game worse for killers.

If you truly want tunneling to be seen less, you need to make the reward for spreading hooks better than removing a survivor from the game early. Right now there's no reason to have every survivor on death hook as with the same number of hooks you can have two survivors dead which is a far better position.

based on these comments i see most of these people are killer mains....

It's just not a good idea. It's a pvp and people are free to play what they want. You are simply never going to like everything you'll face, but that's just a part of the experience.

  • The killer should never be forced to go after another survivor. There's nothing wrong with tunneling and the killer should be able to focus a survivor out of the game since that is their only objective.

  • It's impossible for the devs to check for "valid" d/cs, because people can always unplug their routers. Playing an online multiplayer game requires a good internet connection. This is something you need to fix yourself.

  • If survivors keep tapping the gen so you can rekick it that's the survivors fault.

The knight gen kick with his power needed something since gen kicking perks didn't work with it.

  • The time to wiggle out is still the same you just can't shorten it basekit. Hardly a killer sided change.

  • It's the smart play. Don't let anyone tell you how you should play, because your opponents are going to want you to play in a way easier for them.

  • If bhvr added an exception, people would rage quit would just abuse the exceptions. Not hard to turn off your router or unplug the cable from your system.

Ultimately if you have are issues with a poor connecti9n, that is something you need to work out if you want to play multiplayer games.

  • A 10 hour player is going to have a real hard time catching any survivor with over 1000 hours let alone 10K hours. It's very easy to abuse a killer who doesn't understand how to properly use their power creating situations where you just run the killer for minutes and not even drop a pallet.

  • You can already chose when to use Sprint Burst by picking when you run.

Not for this extended amount of time though. 2 Months and they are taking their sweet time, 6 months and they are just being just being lazy. A year or more and they are actively going out of their way to not change the meta. There is a reason league has been and continues to be the biggest game in the world and it's due to their two week patch cycle.

BHVR has always been slowed to address perks in the game. Dead Hard was untouched for years. Ruin got changed only to become meta again.

The only thing that really changed is BHVR stopped doing very minor adjustments to perks no one was using which was hardly meta changing.

  • The complaints were largely towards the distance part of dead hard which got removed. It still functions as a 3rd health state that at least requires some skill to pull off. It was always going to be a popular perk as long as it could be used as a 3rd health state, survivors just needed time to adapt since every time anything gets nerfed people stop using it for a bit.

    @WesCravenFan said:

I never believed those people that were like "You guys are sleeping on how amazing Sprint Burst is!"

I knew they were full of it then, and they are full of it now. I've run into maybe 3 Sprint Bursters in the last month, with only one doing the 99 trick.

Sprint Burst would be used more if Dead Hard was actually gutted in a way some people were hoping it was going to be. Sprint Burst competes against Dead Hard due to being an exhaustion perk. As long as Dead Hard is the stronger of the 2, Dead Hard will be the one used the most.

  • Leader states it only buffs other survivors.

Alright killers then stop complaining up a storm a out dead hard or whatever survivor perk you guys hate

Complaining about perks and rage quitting matches are two different things.

I really don't see killers quitting the game over Dead Hard despite many killers still complaining about it.

  • Killers bring strong stuff into a match.

Survivor quits making the match easier for the killer.

Survivors somehow think this will get killers to stop bringing strong stuff into games.

At some point, you just have to accept that playing a pvp game means that people will use things you don't personally like playing against.

  • Nothing has ever came close to release MoM. Release MoM was a completely passive perk that gave you a free health state. Granted some killers like Huntress and Nurse (who was actually bugged when it came to interacting with MoM) could ignore it.

Eruption is strong and will likely get nerfed in the future, but it's far from being a completely free perk you can just equip and just benefit from.

  • What gets me is that these people are constantly rage quitting out of games, but haven't decided to stop playing dbd and go play something else.

These people are spending their time to not play a game.

  • Honestly the bots are really good against killers whose strengths are suppose to be lack of survivor information. Just because they kind of ignore it.

Played Ghostface into a few bots and the bots will always get off the gen the minute you start heading towards them despite undetectable. They'll still die, because they love to run to the edge of the map and play z tiles.

  • I was skeptical before they removed the cooldown on jolt whether or not that would be enough, but I think Jolt without the cooldown is in a good spot as it is. It's good, but not in a way that is causing everyone to use it. I don't think it really needs to be buff.

  • The status effect isn't a problem itself.

Victor being on a survivor and survivors being chained by pinhead are all incapitated and those aren't issues.

  • I know when Steam is down, you can't access dbd. Check to make sure your platform is not down first.

Otherwise, check your internet connection. Sometimes your device can be connected online, but only limitedly.

  • Ultimately Myers needs an addon rework so he can more variety of addons since Myers is from a timer where addons were largely direct upgrades to each other. Tombstone addons are also problematic. Piece is too strong and Judith's is not really fun for either side. Both of these deserved to be changed. On top of that Myers would also need basekit adjustments. The fact Myers can run out of power is a bit outdated.

Ultimately Myers needs quite a bit of work to update and he's not in a state where he's the highest priority to adjust. A killer being on the weak side is just a lesser issue compared to killers being too strong.

  • It's not truly uncounterable. It's certainly very hard to counter, but I have had games where survivors managed to pull hook trades vs a face camping leatherface leading to 2+ survivors escaping at the end.

  • I think the perk just needs the duration increased from 30 seconds to 45-60 seconds. The main problem with the perk is that the duration is just short enough that it's unlikely you'll ever block any aura reading.

And you would assume trends on those platforms are different for what reason?

Even if Steam Charts matched 1:1 on other platforms, there's still not a problem. The game is in a lull point where people are going to play other games until the next rift starts and the mid chapter drops. Being 30K+ players on steam is still stable playerbase. We just came off of a holiday event that people jumped on to play.

  • People say this every single time the game loses some players on steamcharts. Yet somehow the game is still around. The fact is DBD is a relatively niche game and managing to still have 30K+ players after 6 years is impressive.

We're in the lull period. The dbd events have finished, the rift is over (or almost over), and there's an upcoming mid chapter. If people have other games they want to play, now is the best time to do that.

  • No one was running Iron Maiden for a niche situation of locker flashlight saves. While I won't say Iron Maiden is a great killer perk, it's certainly better than you are giving it credit.

Besides locker reload killers it also helps:

Doctor: as lockers hard counter his static blast and allows him to still get info and maybe a down from a survivor using lockers against his power.

Darkness Revealed: as faster locker search allows you to quickly check a locker to get the aura reveal.

Vs Head On: as if you dodge the stun the survivor is now in a much riskier position.

Leatherface: There's a small window to time against Leatherface's tantrum to exit the locker without being hit or grabbed. If a survivor pulls of this timing, they get exposed and instead of forcing an M1 hit to extend the chase they go down anyways.

Stealth Survivors: Ever had a match where a single survivor was hard to find. Likely they were hiding in lockers, but you'll never know. That is unless you had Iron Maiden. Remember hearing screams throughout the match because of Iron Maiden? Now you have a reason to start checking lockers to find this elusive survivor.

  • oh. That's already the case.

Outside of specific maps like Shelter Woods/Wrecker's Yard/Rotten Fields (only shack), RPD West Wing (only 1 stairway is available), The Game (only next to bathroom) and Haddonfield (only Myer's house) every map has 2 locations to spawn basement. Generally because of Shack + Main Building.

Midwich and Lery's both have 2 possible basement spawns despite having no shack spawns. Technically Hawkins as well, but that map is gone and not likely coming back.

No, I want someone to be punished for selectively choosing 1 person at the start of the game and RUINING their gaming experience but allowing the other 3 to live because of it, meaning 0 pips for the survivor, pips for the killer and pips for the other 3 survivors.

It's really not that hard to play this game without tunnelling.

No one is ruining your game experience by tunneling you out of a single match. You can move on and queue for the next game.

It's a PvP game and not everything your opponent does you are going to like. This is true for both sides.

Thank you, I appreciate your input. So, what advice do you have then? I play as a solo survivor, and getting others to play with me is difficult because of other reasons and whatnot so I'm stuck at solo queuing, which sucks really bad.

This leads to my original point, when you have no option other than playing alone, you're forced to bring the same boring perks b/c of tunneling/camping which are decisive strike and other adrenaline perks which I don't use b/c I find them boring but what other choice do I have? I can't bring in a fun perk for the hell of it because I won't end up using it!

I'm not good at giving specific advice. I've put over 3.5K hours into the game. Play plenty of games on both sides, constantly switch up killers and survivor builds. I still make mistakes and I can still get frustrated with my teammates or map rng. I've also been taking breaks here and there to play other games, because the game can be frustrating and sometimes it's good to play something else for a bit before coming back.

Really the best thing you can do is play both sides to get a better understanding of the game from both sides. It's fine if you prefer to play one side, but a lot of people get locked into a bias and forget that dbd is a pvp game and pvp games don't always go the way you would like them to. If you are getting fed up, take a break. It's fine. Playing when you are you angry/frustrated isn't going to help you improve as you'll less likely focus on aspects you could have done better and focus on what everyone else is doing.

That's what camping/tunneling killers ALWAYS SAY, "get better". I can't "get better" at dbd when the killer is literally coming at me or someone on purpose to get them out of the game to CONTINUE to camp or tunnel. It's not like you're gonna camp/tunnel ONE person to get an advantage or the upper hand, you do it to ALL the survivors b/c you DO NOT know how to play the game as well. I've seen killers camp or tunnel when one gen is left and THAT I can understand but to do it FOUR times just to be a jackass?? You just admitted it and clearly, you need to take your own advice at getting better at the game if you tunnel/camp.

And I already admitted that this game is already survivor-sided (learn to read) but camping/tunneling is NOT fun when playing solo survivor. It's not and it's a majority of the games I play.

You can't get better, because you are refusing to get better. DBD is 1v4 and the 4 players can be eliminated. As long as the team of 4 can individually be eliminated there is always going to be a strategy around getting one of them out quickly. You are simply going to have to learn to play against that. Whether it's avoiding being the first seen or getting better at wasting the killer time that they ignore you.

I had a game against an Oni and he would chase me for a minute then give up. He ended up killing the other 3 survivors, because he learned that I was too much effort to down.

  • @MoNosEmpire said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3316134#Comment_3316134

Man, just shut up with this "get better" bs, how the actual f do you expect ANYONE to get better when they get SELECTIVELY TARGETTED BY THE KILLER.

    no one takes protection hits

    the killer IGNORES EVERYONE ELSE

    NO ONE DOES GENS

It is IMPOSSIBLE to have FUN, THIS IS WHY THERE ARE BULLY SWF'S THAT EVERY KILLER CRIES ABOUT. BECAUSE KILLERS FORCE THEM TO DO IT.

"(by the way, this is the reason why the killers camp, they physically cannot make 12 hooks in 3 minutes)"

Here bro take your own advice, get better.

If your teammates aren't doing gens and aren't trying to help you out while being chased, then you weren't going to win that game being tunneled or not. And if you are being tunneled out so much, you'll get better at getting chased just due to the nature of being chased so much.

Against teams of survivors who do gens and do take hits for each other, the killer cannot afford to spread out hooks to all 4 survivors. That is just asking for a 4 man escape in the same way survivors not doing gens is asking for the killer to 4K.

Camping/Tunneling are effective, but good survivors do know how to play around it. I've had a game where we get a 3 man escape against a face camping leatherface. I've had games where I was getting tunneled and still managed to escape because I was able to extend the chase long enough and had teammates take a hit here and there as they got gens done. Sometimes you just have bad luck with matchmaking and get teammates who don't really help out as much as they should. Which sucks, but that is an aspect you have to consider when queueing up for the survivor side. Unless you find a group of people to play with on a consistent basis, you are going to be at the mercy of matchmaking.

  • And fogwise being countered by a status condition that removes your ability to see auras is a problem why?

  • We already have a couple maps with psuedo basements.

Thompson House's upstairs and the 1 hook.

Temple of Purgation's temple basement and it can even spawn the basement.

Haddonfield the upstairs of Myer's house is a single hook

Garden of Joy also has an upstairs and a hook though it's a bit easier to escape than the others above.

We don't really need 2 full basements to spawn on a map.

  • The issue with windows is an issue of map design not the perk.

people are not doing that, and this game don't have mics or at least a proximity mic its more common that when one person gets hooked, and they face camp and the survivor's team up and try to get the killer away from hook and most killers are not biting the chase rather they just sit there until the survivor is almost dead on the hook

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3315526#Comment_3315526

you obviously don't play survivor much because when you solo queue the randoms are a bit slow and do not understand this to where I might and you might, but in reality, you only get a team like every 1 and 8 chances, however you might run into a decent teammate every 4 and 10, so when you are the best player on team and are looping killer for about 3 gen worth of time and your team did no gens then the killer finally gets you and face camps and no gens are and now the whole team wants to start acting like a team and get you off hook you're in 2nd hook state your first hook and no gens are done.

I play survivor quite a bit. In fact I had a solo queue game where against a Corrupt + Deadlock facecamping bubba we managed a 3 man escape with proper hook trading.

Survivors failing to counter camping is an issue on the survivor players.

  • @NERF_KILLERS_######### said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3315545#Comment_3315545

their objective is to kill all survivors, not to camp one and hope they get all of them

If survivors throw themselves at the killer standing by the hook, then the killer played better than their opponents.

Camping quickly becomes suboptimal when survivors don't rush hooks and get gens done, because well timed hook trades basically means it's impossible to kill a single survivor before the last gen pops as long as they commit to the camp.

  • Dead Hard didn't get gutted and is still a good perk on it's own.

If Dead Hard became a trash tier perk on the levels of Buckle Up, you would see much more Sprint Bursts and Lithes as they are the next most reliable exhaustion perks.

  • Killers do not need a higher penalty for doing their objective.

I get it sucks if you get focused out of the match early, but the job of the killer is to remove survivors from the game.

Survivors already have basekit BT to prevent going down immediately off hook and every killer can be hook traded against so smart teams can take advantage of a face camping killer with well timed trades.

  • When the devs did sbmm testing to figure out what changes to implement, they turned off sbmm and used grades for matchmaking and people complained about those days being the worst.

People need to stop looking back at rank matchmaking with rose tinted glasses, because it had it's own share of issues that the devs wanted to move away from.

    1. Hooks spawn within 12m of each other. On most maps this means the killer has a hook they can reach after they down a survivor unless hooks have been destroyed. This is intentional, because forcing the killer to have to slug survivors because they can't reach a hook is far worse for the game as a whole.
    2. It's not 60%. There's 30 killers and the killers with innate abilities to go lose their TRs are: Wraith, Ghostface, Sadako, Pig, Myers (T1 only), Demogorgon (from portal), Freddy (dream world inflicts oblivious), Twins (when controlling victor), Pinhead (holding the box inflicts oblivious), Dredge (during nightfall). 10 out of 30 is 33%. That said, Freddy and Sadako both have lullabys and you can hear Demogorgon teleport so you still know they are there. There are undetectable/oblivious addons and perks which can cause killers for a limited time lose their TRs, but I doubt you are facing them that often.
    3. Yes blindness counters aura reading. This is intentional.
    4. Some killers power and some perks allow killers to down survivors from healthy. This really isn't a huge issue. You have an exposed status on your screen and there's an effect showing you've been exposed and the chainsaw killers are pretty obvious with their chainsaws.
    5. Survivors don't need more perks. They already have a numbers advantage.
  • I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Jolt shouldn't actually make the gen lose any progress but will put the gen in a regressing state.

  • Survivors can also wait in the exit gate, because they desperately want to teabag killer.

There's still ways both sides can waste each other times. I don't think other methods existing means we need to bring back old methods.

Why because I don’t support easy braindead

    playstyles?

Tell me you camp without telling me you camp.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3314852#Comment_3314852

Telling me your “survivor version” or equivalent to camping does not take away the fact that it takes 0 skill to idle at a hook. Which is what it is.

I never brought up generators nor attempted to make a comparison. I am merely saying that saying you out-gamed a survivor because you had so much skill as to let go of your mouse button in order to stand still is not a skill. That’s just a fact.

Everything is mouse buttons and key presses, which means nothing takes skill now.

Forcing survivors to next hook state is sometimes the best plan and knowing when to do that is a skill. There's little reason a killer should let an unhook happen when the survivor is almost at the next hook state. Not to mention if there are survivors just hanging around waiting for you to leave, there's not much reason to leave.

Calling it unskill to take advantage of the situation just means you only want your opponent to play in a way beneficial to you.

  • I think they are a start of putting in a decent spot. But 5% haste for a few seconds for doing long paths is a little weak compensation for the time committed that is doing long paths. You're still better of dropping the guard in place most of the time.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    Lmao

It’s not skilled, you aren’t doing anything amazing that warrants the term “skill”. You are virtually capitalizing on a badly designed play style.

One where your victim is unable to do anything (hooked person) and the others have two choices, trade OR hold M1 on a generator. The fact that it’s so convenient to the point that 1 person doesn’t get to play the game boggles my mind that someone would think this atrocity is actually skill.

You do realize the game is designed in a way where the survivors have a risk of having their actions limited. The killer taking advantage of survivors having limited actions to win is not "unskilled".

It'll be like saying survivors who are currently no being chased working on gens are unskilled, because they are taking advantage of the killer not putting pressure on them to get the objective done.

  • @Deathstroke said:

Yeah but those should not be most viable stragedies that is the biggest problem. Stragedies which show skill should be more viable. 8 hooking everyone before killing probably will never be most viable stragedy but something in the middle ground should be.

This mindset that tunneling and camping are innately unskilled is also wrong. By design, survivors will lose the 1v1. The skill expression becomes how long can a survivor keep the killer busy knowing that eventually they'll go down.

There's no inherit reason why good players should handicap themselves by spreading out hooks. It has always been best to focus hooks between a couple survivors instead of the whole team.

1 … 63 64 65 66 67 … 171
