Yeah, the struggle is real with survivor perks. You want to keep things interesting without potentially dragging the team down.
I can't give up Kindred though, not in SoloQ.

Might give this combo a go. My build needs a change up.
I'm thinking the same thing. I just got bored of my usual. I'm looking through all these perks. I have everyone P3 and the vast majority of these perks are so situational or just not worth it.
-
Ok so I was just griefed by a teammate for my entire first hook state. He just kept spamming unhook and letting go.
I recorded it, reported him in-game, filled out a dbd support ticket with a YouTube link to the video.
Something should happen now, correct? I should definitely get an in-game notification that action was taken?

Thank you so much! I do have them! Thanks 😊

Yes, auras show even in dying state unless they have Distortion or something.
So if you have someone slugged and you hook someone 40 meters away, you get like a free Deer Stalker perk for 5 seconds?

I'm curious about this. Does everyone have a killer main that they strictly play?
For me over the years I've noticed I don't main anyone in particular. I enjoy playing most of the killers, and I'm not particularly better with any one killer over the other. I'm average with all with the exception of ranged killers and nurse but that's just because I never sank the needed time to really practice with them.
When I log in to play I have a hard time o ly playing 1 killer all day. After 2 or 3 matches I get bored of that killer and swap to someone else. That's why I could never get really good with 1 particular killer. I guess it'd ADD but It just gets stale fast and I swap around.
Does anyone else have a similar playstyle?
I have two mains: The Shape and The Nightmare. I have two secondary killers that I play as rarely: The Trapper and The Ghostface.

Most likely, yes. Since these aren't limited-time or licensed.
Would they state "Limited Time" on release though? Like, how do we as players know what is only available for a limited time?

Yep WMI + Botany would be 150% faster (for 250% total speed), with Empathic it’s 160% faster (260% total).
Time to heal a teammate with:
WMI + Botany is 6.4 seconds, or 8 seconds with Mangled
WMI + Botany + Empathic is 6.15 seconds, or 7.69 with Mangled
Botany alone (if WMI isn’t active) is 10.67 seconds, or 13.33 with Mangled
Botany + Empathic (if WMI isn’t active) is 10 seconds, or 12.5 with Mangled
What do you mean by "for 250% total speed" and "for 260% total" ? I'm doing my math as 100% + 50% = 150% Total.

5 days with no rest? Get some sleep soon!
Resilience is only saving you a couple of seconds in this case. Though by running those 3 perks together you can heal to 99% and do gens 9% faster until the killer comes (and then finish the heal) so that makes it more valuable (unless they have Sloppy). Anyway:
Botany + SC:
(1 + 0.5) * (1 - 0.65)
1.5 * 0.35
0.525
16 / 0.525 = 30.48 seconds
Botany + SC + Sloppy:
(1 + 0.5) * (1 - 0.65) * (1 - 0.2)
1.5 * 0.35 * 0.8
0.42
16 / 0.42 = 38.10 seconds
Hope that helps.
I'm about to start running We'll Make It and Botany. That just adds, correct? If I unhook, I will heal others at 150%?
What if I also add the perk Empathetic Connection? If I unhook, I will heal others at 160%? And always at 60% if We'll Make It is not active?
Thanks for your time.
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
It would look like this:
Default healing speed: 1
Botany: 0.5
Resilience: 0.09
Self-Care: -0.65 (this is how you get its 35% heal speed)
You calculate the heal speed by adding the bonuses together along with your default heal speed (which is 1), then applying the Self-Care debuff multiplicatively to that total by subtracting it from 1 and then multiplying:
(1 + 0.5 + 0.09) * (1 - 0.65)
1.59 * 0.35
0.5565
That is your action speed.
Then divide the number of charges to heal (16) by the action speed:
16 / 0.5565 = 28.75 seconds to heal
For your second question with adding in Sloppy Butcher, Mangled reduces the heal speed by 20%. Note the in-game description says an increase in the time required to heal by 25%, but that is the equivalent of reducing the action speed by 20%.
Multiple penalties apply multiplicatively, so we still add all the bonuses first, then subtract each penalty separately from 1, then multiply everything together:
(1 + 0.5 + 0.09) * (1 - 0.65) * (1 - 0.2)
1.59 * 0.35 * 0.8
0.4452
16 / 0.4452 = 35.94 seconds to heal
Thanks for everything, the answers including the math.
I am however going on literally 5 days with no sleep (not even a nap) and will have to study the math another time.
Would you be willing to do the same scenarios only this time excluding Resilience?
I'm not really sure how much time I'm shaving off by using a perk slot on that just to add to Self-Care and Botany.

Seems to me that most can't see it. It's hidden for me, my friends, and just about every streamer I've seen in the past couple weeks.
If you keep getting dodged, best bet is to dip out yourself and try a new queue seed. Chances are if you're P100 you're also high MMR.
A fresh queue should put you with other high MMR players, who are less likely to dodge a single P100 (if they even see prestige). While backfilling is more likely to match you with low-mid MMR, who are probably more likely to dodge high prestige.
So that very first bunch of dodges is what sentences you to perpetual dodging.
Also worth noting what other factors are in play. Are you a brightly coloured Feng/Nea with a TTV or team name in your username?
I'm in disguise now. The other day I began loading into lobbies with a low Prestige character, then swap just before the timer hits 5 seconds. I'm also changing my username every few hours. I can see everybody's Prestige, as both Survivor and Killer.

@Dinoraptus said:
Let me start by saying, no disrespect to anyone, let's please keep the discussion civil. BUT I take genuine issue with this response to someone asking about P100 rewards:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TM9CX5ZKL0TE/image.png
As I have already detailed in another thread: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/383893/list-of-every-old-rift-cosmetic-not-added-to-the-store-with-pictures , there are like 100 different cosmetics from this games past rifts and other events, not even including legacy, that have left, never to be seen again.
Most of these were never made purchasable or earnable outside of their original window and based on statements from BHVR since, are never going to.
Since the games launch, the store has also been updated to cycle out season cosmetics like Christmas sweaters, which used to be available all the time, until their given time of the year arrives.
Prime rewards added and entire new host of cosmetics where only one, Haddie's, has seen a store release since.
AND finally, the rift was given an entire two extra pages dedicated to cosmetics that will never return once that particular rift goes away.
I don't even really care if they add P100 cosmetics, but how on Earth are P100 rewards, something that any player can earn at any time for free just for leveling a character FOMO, but stuff like the aforementioned magical vanishing rift cosmetics totally fine. There are already rewards for character prestige up to 9, are those not FOMO by that definition too?
If anything the cosmetics that never came back are infinitely more worse because they cost players actual money, either directly in price or to buy the Rift when it was happening. Do you not think the players who maybe couldn't afford the rift back then or maybe didn't even know the game existed feel like they missed out?
P100 rewards wouldn't go away, they would be earnable at all times, nobody would be able to miss out on them, not like the cosmetics that never came back. I am just really confused by the reasoning here.
Thank you for being civil. I didn't know about cosmetics disappearing, that is insane and totally unacceptable. I understand your frustration, I really do.
With that said, I don't see what the two topics have to do with each other. I would personally like a P100 Survivor and Killer Charm, that's all.
Please don't be mad at people wanting something for the grind, my guess is many of them are also unaware of vanishing cosmetics.

Just asking. Don't wan't to false report people if it's just some behaviour of the game being bugged on their PC or something.
I think it's a killer using BOT Software to farm Shards. Did you happen to catch the perks he had equipped?
-
@Xernoton said:
Question is in the title.
Honestly, I see no reason why the killer shouldn't be allowed to see the hook stages. It wouldn't really make tunneling easier but it might help killers, who want to go for as many hooks as possible.
I personally don't have a lot of trouble counting hook stages but I did experiment with it before and made a point out of not counting and the results were an average of 5.4 hooks for the first kill. This is what happens when I do not count hooks and simply go for whoever I can find / down quickly. Now, I don't know about you, but I'd rather play against a killer, who gets their first kill at 9 hooks than at 5.
Now consider what a killer needs to do in order to tunnel as opposed to what they need to do in order to play as 'fair' as possible. Tunneling requires a killer to count to 3. Going for as many hooks as possible on the other hand requires them to count to 2 on 4 different survivors. So it's actually easier to tunnel. Is that really what we want?
What do you think about it?
They absolutely should. I'm surprised they can't. Has Behaviour given a reason why they don't let them?
-
So I decided to just load into SoloQ as a low Prestige Survivor and swap at the last second. I also change my username every couple of hours. So far it's working out. Haven't had a killer DC before the match starts yet.

Sometimes SWF drives me nuts, and playing against a well coordinated group whose intention it is to count how many flashlight stuns or head-ons they can give me in one match isn't very fun to me. And I love BP. But getting more BP, still wouldn't make up for that, tbh. Match would still be unfunny. And I would not play anything different against them than what I do at the moment, just because I know I would get Bonus BP. If I face them, I just take it veeeery chill, the opposite of trying hard/sweat. And hope for it to be over fast. Getting more BP would not change that, would not makeing me try hard.
It's not supposed to make you try hard. It's simply a reward.

Fair in the sense of what? What are you being compensated for? Having a harder match? Some SWF matches are easier than against solo queue. I'm not sure what the additional BP is meant to compensate for.
Edit: Okay, I can see you have another thread about getting beat up by a SWF. So is the BP bonus to compensate for the challenge of the match? It does suck to get wiped out and gain very little BP, for either role.
I really don't mind being a punching bag killer now and again, but some of these builds don't even let you hook anyone once. I think it's a decent thing to do.

Ok, then the SWF Bloodpoints are obtained in secret and awarded monthly.
The killer will receive all of them for all matches played during the season on the 13th of every month with rank reset BP.
I play both sides by the way. 60% Survivor I'd estimate. I really do think that this is fair.

@Alen_Starkly said:
First of all, the intention of this post is to explore and gain insights into this phenomenon that I am interested in. I ask you to share your experiences and give constructive feedback. Please be respectful to everyone <3
So, as we all are aware, I'm sure, female survivors in DBD are not just more popular than male survivors, but much more popular. I know that this is not a phenomenon exclusive to DBD, it exists in many other games as well. However, with this post I would like to gain an understanding on why that is so in DBD specifically. Cosmetics play a big role in this, so I would like us to take them into consideration, as well.
As far as I can think, these are the reasons that people might be preferring either male or female survivors:
- who they can identify with, relate to, or connect with better
- who they find more attractive, and therefore want to see on the screen
- who has more interesting (beautiful, quirky, etc.) cosmetics available, as well as more cosmetics in the sense of quantity
- who has gameplay advantage - in this case it's the female survivors, due to them being shorter and therefore having better potential for stealth, evading the killer, and (flashlight) saves on their teammates
Based on my experience of watching streamers, as well as other people I'm acquainted with, it seems that a person's gender identity and romantic/sexual interests don't play a major role in this, since any group of people tends to play as female characters.
I am a gay guy, and prefer playing as male characters, because I can both relate to them better, and also prefer seeing them on the screen. However it seems that most gay men prefer playing as female characters. This is what confuses me.
I would like to ask you readers, to give your perspective and understandings on this, on why female characters are that more popular than male ones. Both female and male characters are awesome and deserve love and popularity. And in order for me to able to promote male characters more, and accentuate their value, I need to understand what is causing this disproportional pick rate.
Thank you for reading! I hope that we can have a really nice discussion on this.
So I'm in love with Nancy Wheeler, I like to see her on the screen. My male character main is Johnathan Byers because she is dating that actor in real life. I do also play other females that I find attractive and a few male characters just spark my interest here and there.

In my opinion, unless you are doing intentional troll or enjoy making people angry (by slugging everyone or dropping every pallets from start etc), I don't see any reason why this is needed in Dead by Daylight.
I mean you don't need anonymous mode if you play normal: doing gen, interacting with teammates occasionally , catch survivors.
Because people harass while you are not in anonymous mode?
Isn't shutting down game chat and blocking comments on your steam profile enough?
(Sorry because I don't know about console version.)
Many people already ridicule others for stupid reasons. Why bother?
I have never used anonymous mode at all and won't use it ever.
Because "every cheaters I've witnessed were using anonymous mode in high rate" and I don't want to give such impression to others.
I don't care if you use it or not.
Just remember you don't need to turn it on if you are doing nothing wrong and confident of what you are doing. It doesn't matter you are good or bad at the game.
People call you dirty camper, tunneler or say 'undeserved 4k', 'useless teammate'?
I swear people who say such thing will try to mess with others for more stupid and silly reasons.
Just get over it.
Personally I wish there was an option that don't get matchmaking with anonymous mode players.
I always play Killer in anonymous mode. Try ending up in a Survivor Queue with someone you just killed in the previous match while you were playing Killer. Not a fun experience.
Also, anonymous mode does nothing to help cheaters. Report them as usual, they are not anonymous on Behaviour's back end.

The best way I can explain to know the difference between a basic and special attack is to look at the animation. Majority of killers have a different animation when they get a successful hit with their ability and a normal M1.
To make it easier how ever, Ill just list all special attacks here:
-Trappers Bear Traps
-Hillbillys Chainsaw
-Nurses Blink Attack
-Huntress' Hatchets
-Bubbas Chainsaw
-Pigs Ambush
-Legions Feral Frenzy Stab
-Plagues Vomit (Both Vile and Corrupt)
-Demogorgons Shred
-Onis Demon Strike
-Deathslingers Harpoon (Only if the chain snaps)
-Pyramid Heads Rites of Judgement
-Blights Lethal Rush
-Twins Victor Pounce
-Tricksters Knives
-Nemesis' Tentacle Strike
-Pinheads Chains
-Weskers Grab and Slam
-Xenomorphs Tail Attack
All of the following (but not limited to) will not trigger perks such as Sloppy Butcher, Jolt, NOED, Save the Best for Last. All of which are only affected by Basic Attacks.
If you have any other questions regarding the matter or anything else, feel free to ask :)
So then if I'm running Franklin's Demise, a Tier III Hit will put them in the dying state and make them drop their item?

Could it be Platform specific to the issue? I play on Nintendo Switch.
Could it be a glitch with the Stranger Things Survivors I'm using?
I just played two matches. I intentionally let the killer hit me, I ran away and got the same result. One full heal and 70% on the second. It was still with the masquerade one though.

You should absolutely be good for 2 self heals unless there's some sort of unaccounted inefficiency or something (which is pretty much zero chance).
You need 24 charges for a self heal. Gel Dressings give +16 charges, Gauze Roll gives +10 charges. You should have 2 heals and 2 charges to spare.
Yeah and what is the point of having 2 extra charges anyway? It seems like a rip off compared to Bandages.

You mean harassment in the chat? I play on Nintendo Switch so we have no chat.
Sometimes as killer, I'll see 3 generators pop within a couple minutes but I don't know if they're cheating and I wouldn't know how to prove it. It's odd when they have no toolboxes and no Gen rush perks.

You need Gel Dressings and any of the other extra charge addons, that should be enough for 2 self-heals. If Gel Dressings + Bandages isn’t working then something is wrong.
Your other option is using Streetwise which will allow you to either swap Gel Dressings for any of the lower-rarity extra charge addons or allow you to just use Gel Dressings by itself and your other addon slot can be whatever you want.
It's not working. I've tried Gel Dressings with brown Bandages and Green Gauze Rolls. I'm running out of charges on the 2nd Heal only about 70% healed. This was never an issue before last week.

The only way to get 2 Self Heals from a medkit is to run at least Gel Dressings and any other add on that increases medkit charges. Being Bandages, Self Adherant Wrap, or the Gauze Roll
The reason why is because a Self Heal takes 24 charges instead of the normal 16 for an Altruistic Heal. That means to get 2 Self Heals from a single Medkit you need at least 48 charges.
There are perks as well how ever that can help you get more value from a single medkit, such as Streetwise (Nea Teachable) or Built to Last (Felix Teachable)

is there any way that i can just play calmly/for fun? i'm already trying to keep up with my "play to improve, not to win" attitude but there's still times whenever i just act like that out of the blue. how can i stop taking this game seriously? this post may be really similar to my other one, "how can i change my point of view on this game?", but on this one, i'm just looking for tips on not getting all lit up whenever i fail in a chase. sometimes it's hard since i'm kind of a "competitive" person and there are times when i want to win 24/7, but i'm working on that, and it does get better bit by bit.
