I beg to differ, which is why we added the timeout.
Previously we used to ban in waves, when a specific threshold was reached with bans - there was a huge amount, which the DC penalty has definitely helped to reduce.
I played back then. A lot. My games were fine. The streamers I watched were fine. The friends in my list said its fine.
There was no mass DC'ing problem back then.
Some players were just very very pissed about just 1 DC which happened once a day and came to the forums complaining and complaining all day long about that. Then bhvr gave in and introduced the penalty.
WHICH BTW didn't fix the problem but just shifted it to suiciding on hook, going afk or manipulate the match.

Friend, I'm happy to discuss things further, but the snarkiness is not necessary.
The changes we made in 6.1.0 were not solely based on stats. When looking at gameplay, it was clear that Killers were having a rough time doing what they need to do - killing, and this was in no small part due to things like generator repair times. Each of the changes we made were related to issues that many people have brought up. I would encourage you to read through the Developer Updates we posted around that time where we explained our reasoning behind each of the changes.
Beyond that, the data we have access to is far more details than averages, which allows us to do deeper dives and reveal more than just a kill rate.
Again, stats can show you where a problem might be, but they do not paint a full picture.
Looking at gameplay? What gameplay please? I would like to know what gameplays you were watching which lead to these decisions.
And why are you not revealing these more detailed datas to the community? Why give us 2 charts instead of all the data you used to make those decision?
We are all smart and capable of analysing huge and complex datas. Just share them and we can make our own conclusions and "paint a full picture" as you said

I'm talking about the top 5% mmr not overall.
Doesn't change my point, it still stands.

@ImNotBobDylan said:
Stats mean nothing because they seem to imply that the game is very killer-sided, and that's not something this forum can conceive
You broke out of the matrix! Congratulations

You mean the numbers that show that both plague and dredge are better than nurse and blight?
Another one who can't understand stats.
Plague and dredge are easier to play. Average people can get better results with them than with blight and Nurse which require more skill.
-
@Peanits said:
It's not so much that they mean nothing, but more so that very broad stats like the ones we just released do not tell a full story. You cannot look at an average from all games and definitely say something like "Nurse is clearly weak, look at her kill rate!" - Of course we all know that's not true. In the right hands, she can be the deadliest Killer in the game. But the steep learning curve and the number of people trying to play her for the first time cause that average to drop.
Stats like these can give some insight in where a problem might be, but they don't tell you what the problem is or if it's a problem in the first place. You should not use them as the basis for your argument.
Then explain to me why you BHVR (knowing this) still went ahead and made GENERAL BASEKIT BUFFS because you didn't like the kill rate stats you showed before? They didn't show the full story either but you still took them to do basekit changes.
You even made a post after some time saying "we happy about the basekit changes because the Killrate went up".
Make sense bhvr.

@xni6_ said:
yes nurse is in fact the weakest killer. preach louder for the people in the back
You just don't know how to read stats. It means nurse is hard to play and not many can play her. Look at 5% mmr and see how she's not the weakest anymore.
Yall bad at understanding these numbers

Where neither side new how to play efficiently like today, survivor still were heavily op and favored by maps and didn't have a reason to DC outside a pink Mori and nurse, sure.
Stop looking for excuses. Neither survivors nor killers mass DCed back then.

No it wouldn't players would DC like crazy because they know they won't be punished for DCing. I had a Survivor DC because he was found first and due to their lack of Looping skills was downed in 20 secs and before their body hit the floor they DCd
It would normalise. Exactly like 2016-2018 when it didn't exist

Aren't you the prodigy god gamer who never loses as a killer? No wonder you think Wesker is overpowered. To you, every killer must be mad powerful. But you should also think about those of us who aren't that talented. For us, Wesker is great, but not even close to being overpowered.
It doesn't take talent to have high winrate
-
@Tsulan said:
So... buff Nurse?
A 61% kill rate, which translates to a little over 2 kills per match really doesn´t look to strong. Especially considering that Wesker is so new and people haven´t learned how to play against him.
Nerf all killers ideally to 50%

The stats also say that Dredge is a stronger Killer than both Nurse and Blight.
Maybe we should take that as an indication for them not being a good tool to determine balance by themselves.
No, wrong. It says dredge is easier to play than nurse and blight. Which is true

@tippy2k2 said:
Well it was just off for like...a day and every other thread was "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TURN THE DC PENALTY BACK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
So I'm guessing that's why we have DC Bans. When people have no DC Bans, they quit at the drop of a hat and constantly ruin the game for everyone. They're why we can't have nice things.
There was just a lot of frustration build up in the (solo Q) community. They finally can DC without consequence, That's why some people saw a lot of DCs. Give it 1 week and it would normalise
-
@TicTac said:
Not really. His passive slowdown is not that bad and he is loopable. A strong killer, but not a problem.

Yes, absolutely. “If Nurse ever loses, the Nurse player sucks.”
That's not what I said. And even if I said that, that wouldn't be toxic. Toxic is the most overused and wrong used word in this community, calm it down bruv

The amount of DCs is the same amount of suicides. No difference
-
@Pulsar said:
I haven't seen that at all.
I've seen less suicides on hook and more DC's, but the actual amount of games hurt by people giving up is the same for me.

They don't hold the worth that most people thnk they do, but they definitely have more worth than your giving them.
So you think Pinhead is one of the top killers in all MMR because he's particularly strong? No, it's because he has a massive advantage against Solo Queue.
The stats can provide us with some insight. They aren't completely useless.
Pinhead can stomp swf as good too.

@tippy2k2 said:
Someone on The Twitter made this point about Sadako and I'm curious if it's true.
Basically she's Opposite Nurse. Instead of a ton of people trying to play her and the noobs getting stomped brining her numbers down, only a handful of VERY good killers actually use Sadako so her numbers are far more inflated than you'd expect just because she doesn't have a bunch of noobs pulling her numbers down.
More like nurse numbers are "deflated" and actually much higher if it weren't for the bot nurses losing
-
@neb said:
wait... sadako is actually good?
Yes she is. But she requires more skill than nurse. That's why more confident and more skillful killers pick sadako while the bad killers pick nurse.
-
@DudelPuma said:
haha nah never... if MMR works realy well and good player match togehter, then you will see Killers need more Buffs except Nurse and Blight
but high Killrate are possibly bc, good player match with bad player and he cant obviously carry them all, if he survive for minuts in the chase and hes mate dosent do gens and hiding in the map corner, or he do gens but hes mate do 10sec chases ofc the bad killers get a ez 4k
Bad Matchmaking = Killers are OPOP
Good Matchmaking = all Killer need a Buff except Nurse and Blight
Are you the streamer called dude puma d ace?
-
@HellDescent said:
He really took something that Hexy said seriously...😑
He said it since 6.1 patch. And since the patch he nearly never lost a game.
-
@neb said:
who is this guy and why should I care about his opinion
and what is this black and white statement? It's more like "nurse and blight are op" as opposed to "killer is op." Clown op??? Myers op??? Doctor op??? Sadako op??? Not everyone is having a cakewalk with nurse and blight, I still get stomped by predroppers when I play weak killers.
Skill issue, not balance issue. Don't mix them up
-
@Tsulan said:

61% kill rate? Ok hahaha

@Phasmamain said:

@MaTtRoSiTy said:
They really aren't and just because some streamer shares his subjective opinion, it does not make it so.
Today I have had several killers DC because they were getting stomped, two of them were Nurses btw
Huh, funny. Last time I shared my experience everyone was talking about impossible it is because of otzdarva.
Funny, really funnny.
-
If you get a cheater just leave the game. They will get bored cheating if killers don't feed them anymore
-
@Bot_Salvo88 said:
Killer isn't op if you know how to play. If you lose as survivor it's mostly because you have clueless people in your team.
He's a killer main (wraith) and said that. Has nothing to do with survivor performance
-
@Veinslay said:
It's even crazier because he hardcore camps and tunnels every single game! You, a savant of killer that NEVER camps and tunnels, wins 99% of the time! Think about how OP killer MUST be
He doesn't camp or tunnel all the time. He does that sometimes to get reactions from the players and then have something funny to laugh about in chat.
It doesn't matter if he camps/tunnels or not, he still stomps all games and has a valid point to say that. I don't camp tunnel and have same experience.

There wasn´t a question mark in the message you are refering to.
Anyway, would you like it, if you coulnd´t play a full match. Because someone always disconnects?
I have played many many hours the past 3 days. No issues with DC'ing. Sometimes a random team mate DCs as soon as he heard 1St blink. No problem. Sometimes someone DCs when I play killer. But rarely. Still no problem. I rather take these few DCs (which is also a lot of crashing) than being held hostage by Cheaters.

@Xernoton said:
There is a real simple solution to the problem. If you don't want to play the game, don't play the game. You don't need to dc. You can just not play in the first place. There is no justification for dcing (unless you're held hostage).

DC'ing doesn't tank mmr

Absolutely. I think it's a huge improvement to solo q game play, I personally hope they keep it.

They issued a challenge.
You replied.
Oh ok.
Well I told @RatbasterdJr to make a separate post for this and tag me there. This would "hype" it up a bit, gets some exposure and we would have some viewers to watch it live.
Let's see how serious he is, I'm down for it 100% and I won't play nurse or spirit or whatever A/S tier Killer for the challenge.

Yeah.
Tag me if it happens, please.
Sincere request - people usually duck stuff like this super hard so I'd be surprised if they come back and actually play you.
Who ducks? The killer mains?
I have nothing to be afraid, I'm actually really excited. I have the confidence to show and deliver. I just hope a lot people watch the stream and finally shut it down with the "killer weak" mentality.

Nope, you go for a flashlight save or body block the hook when I am obviously not tunneling you should be fair game.
Are you doing this on purpose?
I said... A FLASHLIGHT IS A USEFUL TOOL TO BLIND A KILLER WHO WANTS TO TUNNEL YOU AND HELPS TO LOSE THE KILLER!
DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS? STOP SEARCHING AND NIT-PICKING EVERY TINY SINGLE SITUATION WHICH MIGHT CAN HAPPEN JUST TO KEEP THE CURRENT TUNNEL SITUATION AS BAD AS IT IS RIGHT NOW.
I hope writing it out in full caps helps you to read and understand better.
