calm spirit- you're still affected by madness, that doesn't change, you just don't scream
slippery meat- still rng based, not guaranteed and you're still affected by traps, making u stuck and injured
no mither- please, instead of 2 hits it's 1, you still have to mend from legion and not cleansing could spread the sickness to your team while making it harder to see
you have to be smarter with your uncloaks as wraith to avoid flashlights (plus, they dont last forever), and u cant be predictable with your trap placements. flashlights actually have counters, try not to compare them to something that isn't counterable
still haven't thought of a perk/add-on that that nullifies a perk like exhaustion addons do :/
Those are still factors that heavily impact the leverage a killer gets from their power.
Frankly I think more killers should have exhaustion add-ons. Plague in particular, and possibly Hag.

I've always felt the basement should have a built in Territorial Imperative. If not the notification, at least the aura. Make the basement somewhere you don't want to go instead of it being safe(it's dangerous if someone is hooked cause the killer has reason to go in there. Otherwise it safe cause the killer never goes down there). Make the basement dangerous and make the chest worth it

You could even give every survivor a motion tracker so they know where the killer is when they pull it out.
Would be the only killer to address the difference between solo v swf players. They all have the knowledge. People are desperate for something different and new yet you try so hard to attack any idea made.
I'm fine with new things when it makes sense to the game. A xenomorph doesn't. It's just not gonna happen. I'm not being constructive to it because it has no place in this games lore. You could channel your ideas and energy into something that could work but instead you refuse to consider the idea that maybe it just doesn't work. You're welcome to keep thinking of ideas, just don't get your hopes up cause a dev has already told you why it wouldn't work and no amount of you saying "no you're wrong" is going to change that.

yes, they're strong, we already know that. because something doesnt happen every game, doesn't mean it's still okay. ######### like iri head and omega blink still exist lol. my problem with exhaustion addons is the fact you will NEVER get a good use out of your exhaustion perk because of it. even with distortion, you'll eventually run out of tokens, so the killer can read your aura again. I cant think of any other perk/add-on that completely nullifies another perk before getting some benefit out of it.
I still stand by the fact that the strongest perks having very uncommon counters isn't that big of a deal. Hell, some killers have their powers outright denied by certain items even and you don't hear people throwing a fit over that. A few perks even have super niche uses against specific killer powers (Calm Mind, Slippery Meat, No Mither)
-
I joined just before Pig released and I figured she was the absolute strongest killer in the game. Didn't know how to loop well and kept getting tunnel pigs so I would literally never escape her. Obviously I've changed my mind since

Which is where killer design plays it's part.
Another example, survivors start with a flare. You search supply boxes to refill flares. Max flares is 2 (killer add on effects capacity and length of flare) Flares can be used to either blind or slow down the movement speed of the Xenomorph when nearby. Xenomorph can destroy pallets instantaneously with a charge attack.
This example being one where you are forced to play aggressively as survivor to keep the Alien at bay. If the Alien catches you without means to defend yourself you're in trouble. He will cocoon you and will be able to be morid in your cocoon by a facehuggers which bursts out your stomach .
Gonna be really honest with you that's a terrible idea. Like it could work as it's own game but in Dead by Daylight? Absolutely not.

Dead Hard is good if you don't use it like an idiot. Most survivors don't know how to get the most out of it

because those perks would be OP without it (hex perks), they last the entire game affecting all survivors. not to mention you still get some benefit out of them most of time, while exhaustion addons completely nullify your perk (unless BL). exhaustion perks are used once per chase (if the requirements for them are even met), not comparable to a hex that couldn't be destroyed
Exhaustion perks are still very strong, and to add to that, the difference comes in how easy it is to stop them. It's literally a few select add-ons for some mid-to-low tier killers. This isn't something happening every game, it's not even something happening every time you encounter said killers. Sometimes a killer can effectively counter your perks. Sometimes a survivor can effectively counter your perks. It happens and it's not worth throwing a fit over.
-
@AshleyWB said:
So basically you have to have a bullyable killer in order for it to be in the game. The baby Xenomorph was an example because you fail to understand how flexible the idea is.
The baby xenomorph was a bad example. And the killer should be able to at least be slightly resisted by the Survivors. No one in the cast is equipped to last 3 seconds with a xenomorph
-
@artist said:
I love that people think you rely on exhaustion perks because you think exhaustion addons should be changed. it's really stupid you're limited to 3 perks the entire game because of an add-on. you simply never get to use your exhaustion perk effectively without being unreasonable about it (example: having to stay injured so u can dead hard a clown bottle lmao)
Killers have to deal with only having 3 perks a lot too and that's not at the mercy of a select few add-ons, that's just a base game mechanic.
-
@Peanits said:
This would be an improvement, there's no doubt about that, but I'm not sure it would quite solve the problem. Say you have all 65 survivor perks unlocked. Currently it would take you a whopping 195 levels to get each of them to tier 3. With this, you'd only have to level up 130 times. It's much better, there's no doubt about that, but it's still quite a lot.
Granted, this is less of an issue now that perks are slowly being standardized to where the tier 1 perks perform more closely to the tier 3 perks, but there's still quite a few that you wouldn't want to use unless you've got the best version of them.
The problem with tier 1 perks being close to tier 3 then is when you're getting upgrades of perks you don't need the upgrade to instead of new perks. If Im trying to get BBQ tier 1, I'm gonna be just as annoyed to see Unrelenting 2 or 3 on my bloodweb as I am unrelenting 1. The standardization doesn't help much in comparison to just removing 30% of the perks you'll encounter (all tier 1s)

@AshleyWB said:
You could have a baby Xenomorph which doesn't have overpowering strength and if it thinks the entity created it, it obeys it. Happens in the recent alien movie when the android breeds the alien. Lorewise it fits.
Could eventually grow and develop to be feral and really advanced but there are always ideas steaming from ideas.
Last I checked, Xenomorphs grow to full size in a matter of hours so no, a baby wouldn't really fit. A baby xenomorph is also a much less interesting concept for a killer than an adult one.

I bet you’re fine with Legion’s hoodie and Michael’s stolen mechanic outfit (who btw is basically Ghostface’s inspiration look wise.)
And idk about you but the sole horror left in this game as a veteran player is seeing Michael seeing you. I personally can’t wait for Ghostface to be the second killer to watch out for like that.
Michael Myers is infinitely scarier than GF could ever be. And frankly Legion is scarier than Ghostfaces regular costume.

"A Xenomorph doesn't fit" isn't a valid reason when many comments here explain why it can and would fit if the license was acquired.
You just refuse to accept something which other people want is possible.
Your unwilling to consider that maybe your idea just wouldn't work. Xenomorphs are essentially intelligent animals. They're feral and not something the entity could control through its emotions like it does for other killers. Beyond that it'd honestly be a huge disservice to the xenomorphs abilities to have it struggle to catch a running survivor and get stunned by a small plank of wood.

@AshleyWB said:
Seems like someone thinks they can downvote and not read or understand anything that's been said.
An Alien Chapter could work. If you think it doesn't fit whatsoever then why comment at all, if you read you can understand why it can fit. You just hate the idea because you can.
You can't look at people giving valid reasons for why it wouldn't fit and then just act like they missed something. A xenomorph would be cool but it really doesn't work in DbD for a number of reasons.

The hah skin that dropped recently is so good, I was ecstatic
-
Considering how strong it is, that's a pretty solid balance on it already. I think it's fine as is.
-
Power move: slug someone for 3:50 then hook them last second.
-
@Aven_Fallen no one puts on an exhaustion add-on thinking "this will be the thing that wins me the game". It's not something people are reliant on. 4 mid-to-low tier killers get them. Survivors can already nullify plenty of killer perks easily. It's really not a big deal if killers can situationally disable a single one of your perks. Stop crutching on Balanced Landing or Dead Hard so much
-
Sounds good to me honestly. Though you know survivors are gonna rally for an offering to increase Pallets

If you are so reliant on Exhaustion Add-Ons, you should work on your own skills.
Not saying that they need to be removed, but being only common Add-Ons is a little bit too generous. And well, the time is completely irrelevant, 30 seconds is more than enough, considering Exhaustion will not go down during the chase.
I don't think anyone IS reliant on exhaustion add-ons. Not in the way survivors rely on Sprint Burst and Balanced Landing.
-
Not many things cause exhaustion and it's literally the only thing in the game that counters exhaustion perks so honestly it's not a big deal. If you're that reliant on Balanced Landing you should work on your own skills.

@ClogWenchYes I love playing jumpscare hag build too I wish I played against it more, rusty shackles are so rare for me though, I find I burn protection offerings just to keep those. 100% best addon (dried cicada is a close favourite though)
I usually play without add-ons so they pile up fast for me. I have like 20 shackles and close to 100 Mint Rags

So? They still make it longer on purpose. Not two, but four minutes, on purpose, just to screw people. Still not fair. Get rid of the animation just like bleeding out had no animation, and less people will do it. Though they will still do it just because some people enjoy making others waste their time, but it will be less people. They made EGC something cool when they shouldn't. I even saw killers starting it at the start of the match for the sake of it. This isn't good for anyone, because people get less BP after a huge loading screen and will definitely be forced to depip. This has so many downsides.
You know the killer can't actually open the gates until they're powered yeah? You can't open them in the beginning of the match
-
Haha it's cool. I don't remember how clear they were on it at the time but that was the reason they ditched it for a while

The number should be extremely small. The gate shouldn't be an easy escape if you've lost the entire game thus far. If a large number of 1v1 survivors are getting out through the gate, THAT'S a problem.
You don't need to convince me. You should try to convince that to the developers who pulled back from implementing the initial 'hatch-closing' mechanism in the PTB for that exact reason.
@knell the original hatch closing mechanism was pulled because it wasn't paired with the EGC so it resulted in hostage situations where the survivor would just hide for a very very long time. It had absolutely nothing to do with escape rates.
-
@knell said:
I do think that there is a possibility that the End Game Collapse are eventually going to be changed. I think it's going to depend on the percentage of Escapes through the Gate on all 1vs1 situations (after the hatch has been closed). After few months of collecting data, if the developers find that the number is extremely small, then my guess is that they are going to modify the concept again. After all, isn't that the reason why the original 'hatch-closing' idea never became implemented after the PTB?
I think the timer works well, in that it forces the survivor to take action, but I'm not really a fan of the 'closing-the-hatch' mechanism. I much rather have all killers gain the ability to Tombstone Myer Mori (instant grab kill) once the End Game Collapse activates. This would eliminate any hatch standoffs, and also would give survivors slightly more chance by having another escape route. I feel like this would also create more mindgame potential, instead of just having the killer patrol the two gates until 1. survivor is found or 2. the timer ends.
That said, I haven't yet been on either end of the current End Game Collapse, so this is all conjecture - the current End Game Collapse may be totally fine.
Just out of curiosity, are there any killers who felt that the EGC was unfair in their match? As in, feeling totally helpless because the gates were too far apart to do anything about it?
The number should be extremely small. The gate shouldn't be an easy escape if you've lost the entire game thus far. If a large number of 1v1 survivors are getting out through the gate, THAT'S a problem.

I appreciate all the answers I'm getting and I see your point. I still think the punishment is so damn high, like -40% of the emblem, but I understand. There are situations that this punishment is well deserved for the rescuer, but in the endgame collapse is like there is no choice, u must farm him and take the risk if you really want your teammate to survive.
That's exactly it. You must take the risk if you want them to survive. You don't get it safe for free.

Everything Jordan Peele touches is fantastic. The Visit was creepy, Get Out was phenomenal, I saw Us recently which was really good and I'm excited to see Ma this month too. I also watched Hereditary recently and it was shockingly good albeit deeply upsetting even by horror standards. One of the few horror movies where a scene just really stuck with me

Scratch marks should be removed from the game alltogether. They had some justification in pre 1.4 patch times with blurry vision but with the laser sharp 4k vision across almost the entire map they are the mother of all crutches just like Chili and Nurses Calling...
We can get rid of scratch marks when we get rid of the terror radius and the red stain

Legion is actually in a pretty solid place right now dude. Just takes more skill to use well.

I think if they bind the dbd lore with alien lore it would make sense however it might look odd.
I know I as well as many others would be buying everything to do with anything like this.
I hope it's something the powerful dbd people acknowledge because it would be a insane to have a full horror cast of killers to choose from.
Thanks for the quick reply too.
I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I appreciate that it has more personality than just regular stab ones like Legion and Pig

@AshleyWB said:

That's not really abusing it. They've already won, they're just getting the fun kill animation. They'll get bored of it eventually and stop doing that
-
As much as I'd like to see it I doubt it'll happen
-
Eh I could take it or leave it.

@AshleyWB said:
I'm just wondering whether they would go crazy and make an exception if they did secure a massive license like Alien.
Could it be something they're thinking about until they are more capable of creating it and working the idea to its potential. Or could it be an idea thrown out completely because it doesn't fit dbd.
Why would they go to extreme lengths to get rights to it if they've already addressed not wanting to do it in the first place.
-
I think they'd seem pretty out of place honestly. And the devs did say they're not doing inhuman killers

What are you even babbling about? I'm talking about specifically in the EGC when the killer is slugging you just to get the animation. You should be able to bleed out faster.
Pay attention before you try making smart comebacks.
If they made you bleed out faster in egc I can promise you you'd see people throwing a fit because it's a nerf to Unbreakable and you'll get tons of people crying about how they bled out before they could pick themselves back up.
This slugging will stop in a week or so when everyone is bored of the kill animation. Just suck it up
-
@AshleyWB said:
For the record I think endgame is fine, in fact I really like it BUT I feel like it's going to get torn down and tinkered into 5 second gate opening times or something. Which is bad
Nothing comes into this game without one side or the other getting pissy about it. There will always be complaints. This current iteration of the Endgame gives survivors the opportunity at a free escape, even removing interrupts. But it also balances it out by not putting 100% of the power in survivor hands.
-
Someone's mad they got killed
