So one gen suffers, cool. What do you think they other 3 survivors are doing?
This might come as a shock but some players can put out enough pressure that keeps multiple survivors off gens.
-
Doc is finally a decent...scratch that, he’s finally a GOOD killer. Using him now I don’t feel like throwing myself on the hook.
BHVR loses points for that awful trailer though where he kills Feng. She would kick his backside.
On top of that new Ruin is so much healthier for the game and as a 1600 hour vet yes it is less boring and frustrating to play against. Nobody liked those stupid skillchecks.
Its also surprisingly powerful with the right build/playstyle. Old Ruin slowed gen progress, new Ruin actually deletes gen progress. Its certainly a totem you want gone a.s.a.p.
I wouldnt take it myself because it doesnt suit my playstyles but yeah its underrated.

Bad survs doesn't mean the game is killer favoured.
And bad killers doesn’t mean the game is survivor favoured.
-
Its ironic how the people who only play killer have all banded together and call anyone who plays survivor “babies”, yet since Ruin got changed all we have seen day after day is adults make threats and co-ordinated efforts to play in toxic ways that will suck as much fun out of the game as possible for other players all out of spite and pettiness.
This is one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. No wonder the dev team don’t take some players seriously.
In fact looking at the forum rules...
- Any premeditated attacks on any of our platforms
I’d say this is exactly what this is. We’re seeing it across the community now. Its a premeditated attack on the game itself in order to purposefully ruin the enjoyment of the game for other players.

You have a point with that statement you've just made.
And I agree. There's no need for hyperbole to make it seem like ghostfaces reveal mechanic never works at all, furthermore what if the ghostface runs either the drivers licence or the victims detailed routine? There is a set distance you have to be in to reveal the teababby boi.
Theres also no need to suggest that this one killers wonky mechanic makes up for :
Most killers feeling helpless
Killers onyl being able to apply pressure only if a survivor makes a mistake
Surivors dictating how fast the game goes
The constant sound bugs
The ability for one survivor to run around a killer for the whole game. In a 4v1 asymmetrical game.
The list goes on.
None of that is true aside from sound bugs.
Also the last one I guess but if one survivor runs you around the whole game then you obviously need to improve. I dont want to turn this into “git gud” but if any survivor runs you around anywhere close to that you should be watching some pros play and seeing what they do. It helped me a lot when I first started.
-
I’ve been playing a lot of solo survivor. I would say in 8 out of 10 games survivors are not getting those gates open.
Before anyone says “jUsT gIt gOoD@ I’m top of the scoreboard every game.
The fact is many survivors just aren’t that great. Since rank reset changed current red/purple players are awful. None of them feel like they were previously red/purple players as they make so many boneheaded decisions. Everyone has commented on how easy it is to rank up as survivor so I don’t see how you can deny this.
People try to say the game is balanced in favour of survivors but it’s not. It’s really not. The game isn’t balanced around 4 man swf I give you that, but it’s sure as hell not balanced for solo survivor either.
The stats back this up too. Most killers are getting kills, not 4 escapes.
-
As killer - late 2018 when they made pallets about 16m apart.
As survivor - Now that Ruin is gone lol

So what your saying is you don't like moving your camera to reveal a ghostface put of his stealth ability? Neat.
It isn't that hard, after a few reveals you get the hang of it. And this is coming from someone who isn't a full on survivor main.
But fine. Think what you will, would you prefer the first iteration of ghostface from the PTB? Litteraly making his power useless. Is that fun for you?
Theres no need for hyperbole.
Pretty much everyone has commented on how broken the Ghostface reveal is. Even killer mains, even some people that play GF can admit it. It comes up everytime someone mentions Ghostface. There tons of video evidence out there.
Theres no point trying to downplay it just because you’re afraid a killer may be made weaker by being fixed and working correctly.
-
Its not a big deal for me.
As killer I was moving towards Corrupt & Pop anyway for weaker, less mobile killers. I used to use Ruin & Pop, Ruin for the first 30-60 seconds before it’s destroyed and Pop for late game. Corrupt & Pop perform the same function so it’s not a huge loss to me. Only problem is teams with 3-4 toolboxes but then there are ebony moris for that.
As survivor I see killers doing surprisingly well. Slugging is up but it is what it is. Killers that apply pressure are doing ok. Killers that sit around the hook are doing worse. It’s good.
-
I take it back. Just seen how powerful the perk can be.
Trapper with Ruin and Infectious.
Chases someone off a gen, I’ve been doing totems because NOED so I switch to his gen since its regressing. Killer downs him, infectious goes off and he comes to chase me off the gen. hes already injured another survivor. I’m trying to keep resources on as few gens as possible since they’re all regressing. Cant afford to spread out, dont want to let gens with lots of progress regress to nothing.
If you can keep up the pressure its really strong
-
Funny you should say that...
I had a game where killer kept hooking 2 people next to each other. People were trading hooks.
I get claudette away, heal her, motion for her to heal me and she crouches away...like a typical rank 17 claudette.
So im injured, no healing perks because im using a low level character for a daily, raided all 3 chests with plunderers and got no medkit, so couldnt go for the unhook because i was injured and trapper had them all nearby.
This one potato really screwed us (great matchhmaking btw). There are a number of situations where you just wont get healed without self-care. Its slow but its reliable.
Personally im only using inner strength and doing ok but there are those moments where I really regret not taking self-care
-
It feels so much better as survivor knowing that gens will get done and that looping the killer for 10 mins wont be pointless since your team can’t be bothered with the skillchecks. Thats what was frustrating before, running the killer for so long and having no gens done because of Ruin.
Also interesting to see killer playstyles. Ones that can apply pressure and play smart seem to be doing ok. Ones that camp are now getting punished more for it.
As for the perk itself...not sure what to think. On one hand it feels like it encourages gen rushing more. Theres a pressure now as survivor to not let go of a gen and not leave a gen unattended which is bad for killer. On the other hand if you can kick survivors off a gen long enough this just keeps adding to the amount of gen repair they need to do.
-
It sucks. We’re long overdue for Hallowed Blight 2.
-
I got the left behind achievement for free at some point. No idea how that happened but it was a known bug.
I’m not complaining though the requirements were something ridiculous like doing gens as the last survivor behind.
-
Yeah the extra 10% shock range was a huge improvement. Suddenly he’s viable without range add ons.
I wouldnt worry about calm spirit. Give it a few days and nobody will take it again.
-
Well imagine that. The day Doc becomes a useful killer and I don’t feel like I’m going to get slaughtered by red ranks while using him.
Only tried him a little bit so far but he seems miles better than before. Not having to change stances feels so much better and I’m getting survivors easier at pallets than before. I had blood lodge too so I was quite impressed.
The static blast is ridiculously good. Great for pressuring all survivors at once when they’re huddled up, or using it to find people that urban evade and go immersed as if you’re dumb enough to believe that the gen had just been repairing itself.
Trying to get a game against him as survivor but so far I’ve only had a camping Wraith. Nice to see some players are falling back onto old tactics after the Ruin nerf.
-
Update is out but no rift? :(
-
"As a Survivor, your main objective is to escape the map and live another day. To achieve this, you must repair 5 Generators to power the 2 Exit Gates while avoiding the Killer."
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.Or previously it was written as..
"As a Survivor your main objective is to escape the level through one of two metal gates."
https://archive.deadbydaylight.com/manual/gameplay/It clearly defines the objective as escaping the map.

Okay I agree to an extent but lets get one thing clear Legion is not the "least fun killer" in the game a bit of practice with them and you will probably consistently crush survivors especially gen rushers they dont stand a chance if you learn how to use the frenzy ability PROPERLY keep that part in mind and there is a perk i cant for the life of me remember the name of so thats my bad but i digress the perks abillity grants you an outline of any gen with more than one survivor working on it , for 10 secs before the outline disappears that perk can allow a legion to not only crush a team of g rushers but do it in a manner thats still fun as having a killer that isnt completely halted by pallets for a******s
to t bag you over 24/7 really messes them up and the delicious salt flows instantly oh the sweet vengeance on those kinds of survivors makes him so damn fun but yeah after saying all that i wanted too i cincerely hope you or at least someone in the community actually gives legion a chance you wont regret it honestly
I meant Legion is the least fun killer to play against. Survivors hold M1 to do gens all game, with Legion its just hold M1 to heal on top.
-
But by the time you end up with all perks on a killer, however many bloodwebs that takes, you end up with 40 ebony moris and 10 green.
You might as well take the enony.

@Dehitay said:
This is way beyond the dev team's ability to program. Making bots is one of the more complicated things you can do.
Not if they program them like the survivors I get. All the bots would need to do is crouch in grass at the edge of the map until the hatch spawned.
-
Curtain Call.
It was the chapter out at the time I started playing so Clown’s menu theme is nostalgic for me. Also from what I’ve read the pallet vac got fixed in that update? I couldn’t imagine playing before that, must have been frustrating.
Clown was my first main because I was fed up of looping but was too lazy to learn Nurse. So I used him for a while. Kind of backfires though because I never learned to mindgame that well because you didn’t need to with Clown.
Kate is one of the best survivors too even if her perks aren’t that meta.
Looking at the history of the game it seems like it was definitely on a good path by that point considering what it had been previously.
-
So because I think Billy needs a nerf I’m on the survivor side?
Funny because a few months back people on other forums were calling me a killer main because I was defending Spirit and saying she didn’t need a nerf.
As I said its not about nerfing or buffing “one side”. Its about individual things. i’m not intending to complain but if somebody makes a topic about Hillbilly then I cant stay silent and pretend I think hes fine. I’ve already said that a number of survivor perks/items need a nerf. Its not about nerfing killers or survivors its just individual items, characters or perks that I feel are problematic.
Again you are entitled to give your opinion too and there are plenty of people here defending Hillbilly. That feedback gets taken on board just as much. Look at Ghostface, they massively favoured what killers were asking for when they buffed him.
-
It’s not a co-ordinated campaign though.
I’ve thought Hillbilly needs a nerf for a long time and I’ve obviously out that point across and given reasons why I think that. However I never asked for a Spirit or Ruin nerf.
In that context you can’t expect people to stay silent on something they feel passionate about because a different nerf occurred around the same time.
Hillbilly will be fine though. They’ve already commented they will be looking at him and Learherface next. I’m sure they’ve already got an idea of what they want to do and which add ons they want to change. I can’t imagine random forum talk is going to have that big an impact at this point.
-
But it’s the only time calm spirit will ever be worth using lol

OK your clearly not listening so this will be my last comment on this:
What your saying I see happen nearly every game with Michael for me but rarely with billy.
Does that mean Michael is overpowered or does that mean that my teammates are boosted?
Remember even to the steam achievement charts getting rank 10+(currently 10.8% but fluxuates between 10.6 and 12.7 from what I have seen) for survivor is so common it isn't even considered a rare achievement while the killer equivalent is with roughly HALF(currently 6.0% but i have seen it fluctuate between 5.0 and 6.5%) as many people getting it.
Steam achievement statistics support that killer's ranks are in fact MUCH harder if not twice as hard to get.
Killer ranks are factually harder to get by all statistics I am sorry if you disagree with them but facts are facts.
Yeah but everyone said survivor was too easy to rank up in a year ago, and I said nah killers rank up faster....fast forward to early 2019 and the devs come out and say it that lo and behold killers are getting empty lobbies because they rank up faster than survivors.
Also you gotta think how many people get this to play with their friends and therefore never touch killer? Steam achievements dont tell the whole picture.
I agree with you about Myers. I remember when I got put with green ranks they would all group up around him and all get slugged in the span of 30 seconds. Difference is that stopped in red and purple ranks, Billys streak didnt lol
I think we will have to agree to disagree
-
@LordGlint Hours played doesn’t always equal skill no, but it’s a pretty damn good indicator.
@WAR Killers not hard to rank up in either. None of the other killers in the game highlight this problem like Hillbilly does. I get what you’re saying but I still think Hillbilly is still slightly OP. I say this based on seeing him dismantle survivors time and time again over 1600 hours. There’s a real consistency there.
-
See, I remember on reddit all the “killer mains” at the time complaining that BHVR never listens to them and giving all these ideas for a buff and what they want.
BHVR listened and they listened well.
Then we ended up with Ghostface, a tie for Legion for the least fun killer in the game.
This is why the devs never normally listen to “mains”. You end up with things like this.

Yes they can be bad survivors as the survivor ranks are so easy people who don't belong higher then yellows have been in my red ranked teammates...10 games in a row...
Your issue is it boils down to the survivor ranks is putting people who don't belong in higher up ranks against killers who do thus are vastly better then them.
TLDR: Your issues isn't with billy but survivor ranks/ques as a whole
But again....the Billys are the same rank or lower.
Billy does DESTROY the low ranks. I remember that from old rank resets. When anyone can pick him up at low ranks and 4 man 5 gen so easily theres a problem.
Even if these current red/purple ranks are boosted they should be doing better against green rank billys.

Why do you think your teammates are going down, but your not? Shouldnt that showcase that your better than your teammates when your facing the same exact killer as them but having vastly different results? Wouldnt your results showcase that the character IS infact counterable and that your teammates are failing at doing the exact thing that you yourself are doing?
I have 1600 hours. (Sad I know).
The hillbillys have like half of that.
It shows that with vastly more experience you can overcome it. Just like people will run through dark souls with no armour and the worst weapon - because through time they gain the skill to overcome the handicap.
All this says to me is that Hillbilly is too easy for an average player to pick up and destroy other players of the same skill level. They can’t ALL be bad survivors, not every game.
If I went against a 4000 hour Billy like you see on Twitch I’m sure they would be less predictable and be able to mindgame me better and get me down quick. These hillbillys do very little of that yet still destroy. Hell one of them was moonwalking even though I had direct line of sight on him? What the hell?

Potato team mates are potato teammates and teammates doing bad saves are just doing bad plays.
I have seen the same(From the survivor perspective) of my teammates who don't respect teir 3 Michael, when exposed by Ghost face, or broken vs corrupt purge plague so your point doesn't stand if even sub pair killers like plague can do it(I love plague to death but she isn't very good).
If we nerfed every killer so even the worst survivor can beat them then what is even the point of having the killer to begin with?
Edit: The kill trades off of hooks is litterally made into a perk called "Make your choice" Which all killers can use.
But this always happens.
Ok the first game the survivors weren’t too bad and the Billy played well. So we can accept that.
Next game Billy was wrecking the survivors seconds after hooking the previous. Bad survivors? Ok fair enough. He chases me and I looped him for so long. He wasn’t that special a Hillbilly. Quite medicore. They were all the same rank on the tally screen.
Next game again he’s downing them in seconds, I get him to chase me and I evade him a good number of times so he gives up. The survivors were all higher ranks than him this time. Bad survivors again? The Billy wasn’t that great either.
But this happens all the time. People are quick to say bad survivors but consistently? Every game it just happens to be bad survivors again and again and again?
and when the Billys chase me most of the time they aren’t anything special just mediocre.
Its that consistency that highlights the problem. No other killer does this yet game after game Billy is a one man wrecking crew.
They can’t all be bad survivors. The people playing Hillbilly are probably the same people going down to him. It should be averaging out across a number of games but it never does.
Billy is “overperforming”.
-
I’ll leave this here as an example..
So I had 3 games of survivor tonight. All 3 against a Billy. In every game survivors were going down seconds after the last was hooked. Its just sprint across catching them out of position and then instadown.
There were only 2 survivors in these 3 games that lasted more than seconds in a chase, myself and someone who ran Billy for a few gens in the first game (no Ruin).
In all these cases the survivors were either the same or higher rank than the killer.
Before I get any “git gud” comments I was holding my own in chases, but then I have over 1600 hours on the game.
This just goes back to what I was saying before that you NEED great survivors to beat a Billy. You need the survivors to have significantly more killer than the killer.
This is the very definition of OP. People are picking up this killer and destroying other people of similar skill levels so hard they can’t get any gen progress done. You need players of significantly higher skill to overcome that handicap.
This guy should have been nerfed way before Spirit.
-
I do a few. The reason I don’t is because nobody else does. I’ve done 4 totems a number of times and still been hit by NOED because the other 3 survivors couldn’t be bothered to do a single totem between them.
Theres no point cleansing totems unless you physically intend to run around the map and count all five.
So I just do the ones I see and leave it at that. I normally end up doing 2-3 on average anyway. I don’t think asking 3 other people to cleanse 2-3 totems between them is too much to ask for.
-
I can't wait to try out the new Doctor. Hopefully the shock delay is a lot better than it was on the ptb.
-
It's such a fun perk. I still remember the ptb where it was nothing but Janes jumping into lockers. probably the best laugh I've had on DBD.
I can understand why seeing an SWF trying to be toxic would be annoying though, or how multiple people all trying to Head On the killer at every opportunity could be perceived that way. Some groups are just out to wind up the killer. I think this has a lot of killers on guard, add to that the pressure of the game itself and it's likely easy for them to become tilted.
I think Head On is in a good spot. 3 seconds isn't really all that great for getaway time, DS offers 5 seconds. However since it can be abused for the sake of toxicity then 3 seconds is probably the sweet spot in length. It's less powerful than say sprint burst.
-

The issue with citing "fun" is that it's not quantifiable, and rather subjective. But more specifically in this game, I think the "fun" of one side of the game ofte goes overlooked in favour of the other.
That is very true. Best they can do is try to compromise and please people best they can.
I mean look at DS. Killers hate it due to being punished for not tunneling. They want the timer shortened. Survivors have been calling for that 60 seconds to be increased since day one due to being slugged or looping for 60 seconds then going down. There is some compromise on DS.
Or Ghostface. Killers complained he was too weak. Killers also wanted hooked and slugged survivors to not be able to reveal him. He got buffed and some survivors hate him, however so far he can still be revealed by hooked survivors to stop him camping with his ability.
The devs definitely try to compromise on a lot of things and I think people are too hard on them sometimes. You can’t please everyone.

Not it was not good it was broken af. Yes survivor gets rewarded for losing a chase, good concept.
I can see this is going over your head.
The whole topic is the concept of GOOD meaning STRONG killers in this context.
Was Mettle of Man a good design? No. However was it strong? Very much so.
So although it was good (read strong) for one side, it was unfair and unfun for the other.
This is what is being evaluated and discussed with killers. Complaining about something people unfun isn’t the same as complaining about something they find strong. Again Freddy is a good example. Most people didn’t complain about the killer they complained about a specific build on the killer that sucked the fun out of the game.
-

Ok. Why?
Dead Hard barely works half the time and only a few survivors use it correctly.
Potato Burst is again only used effectively with certain few.
Adrenaline is a high risk high reward perk that rewards the survivor for staying alive until the last gen gets done. They only had 3 perks before this happened.
They're fine.
Adrenaline is high risk high reward???
-
That’s a lot of it yeah.
The thing is no other kill has the mobility Billy has. Freddy needs to wait 45 seconds to teleport, Spirit can only make it so far before she runs out of juice and needs to go on a 15 second cooldown. Wraith simply doesn’t move anywhere near as fast and then he’s limited in that he has to bing bong before he can even attack. Demogorgan is the only killer who comes close to that mobility but he needs to plant a portal first, open it up, still has a 14 second cooldown and then on top of that his portals can be destroyed. Billy can go anywhere he wants right from the very start of the game and there’s no stopping him and no cooldown, map permitting.
Also not one of those killers has an instadown. Billy has all that mobility and instadowns on top.
He doesn’t need to delay the chase unlike Ghostface or Myers, nor is his ability on a time limit. Bubba has a chainsaw too but he suffers a larger movement penalty and a bigger penalty for missed attacks, he doesn’t have the mobility like Billy either.
So Billy seems like such out of place design. They normally give killers either strength or mobility. Not only does Billy get both but he gets arguably the best mobility and instadowns in the game.
Only Oni comes close but then he only has access to this half of the time.

I agree with much of what you say... except mettle of man.
The perk itself was horribly designed. Yes, it’s one extra hit, but you start combining them with the survivor meta perks and you have damn near invincible survivors. An extra hit can add several minutes to a chase with a good survivor, further compounding a killers problems.
But that was the point.
Was it good? Yes
Was it extremely unfair? Yes
Killers didn’t complain just because it was strong, it was also the fact that it felt completely unfair to play against.
-
Yes.
- No basement teleports as Hag
- If 1 survivor disconnects/crashes, 3 hook the rest but let one have hatch so people have a chance to earn points
- If one survivor is doing gens and the other is clearly hatch camping, let the one who made an effort on the gens have hatch (sorry Claudette but you die)
Probably a few more I’m forgetting. Of course these rules can go out of the window if people are toxic.
-
“try comforting babies who will quit your game with the next call of duty release anyway”
Why is everything being framed in this way? Why are people giving their 2 cents on balance always being referred to as babies and told to “git gud”.
Its getting pretty toxic. Everyone is entitled to give their opinions. The best thing you could do is give your arguments as to why whatever they’re complaining about is balanced, rather than trying to shoot down the argument and never give reasons why.
-
It depends WHY they are good.
Mette of Man was a good perk. Why did it have to be nerfed? Because killers couldn’t handle the extra hit?
No its because it felt unfair to deal with. It was good for survivors and made them stronger but completely unfair for the other side.
Take Freddy. He’s not so bad. He’s strong but I don’t see the majority calling for nerfs.
However look at the old Forever Freddy build. Swings chains + jump rope was 21%, add thanatophobia and it could go up to 37%, throw in say 4-5 stacks of dying light and you had 49%-52% slowdown on generators. Then you had Ruin and Pop resetting any progress the survivors made.
Freddy was strong and that was fine however Forever Freddy was extremely unfun because it just translated to survivors holding M1 longer. It wasn’t very fun game design.
Legion isn’t the strongest killer but has had more calls for a rework than any other killer. Why? Because he’s not fun.
If you play both roles then ideally you want killers to be strong AND fun but thats a tricky balancing act. You need something to make them strong but not something that will make them unfun to play against.

I reading the forum often and you are a guy that screaming for nerfs-billy,freddy,ruin maybe instead writing and crying here,go play more games and learn to play this game.
Thanks for the toxicity in the reply.
I’ve only recently joined and only called for a Billy nerf but I’m guessing because I’m not 100% defending killer I’m somehow a survivor main who wants everything nerfed?
If you actually read what I put about Freddy you would read that I don’t actually have much of a problem with him, aside from one specific build which is just boring. His powers are fine.
Likewise I said Ruin was dull and that there needs to be a better solution however I never called for a nerf. Hell the nerf was already announced before I even joined.
Please next time you want to accuse me of being biased actually read what I put.
-
It does take the sting out of Bloodwarden. It also makes the EGC feel a little less intense if survivors wait until all are safe before opening the gates.
-
There does need to be more sone early game. I played it yesterday and got yamoaka. I started in one corner of the map, the survivors all spawned on the opposite side. Given how long it takes to cross the map they got so much genwork done for free. I didn’t have corrupt intervention unlocked so couldn’t use that.
This all goes back to the maps being too big. The game shouldn’t be spawning killers and survivors on opposite corners of the map.
-
“Combine that with the Ruin changes that will make it SO much easier for survivors to genrush mediocre or bad killers such as myself”
It sounds like Ruin has been propping you up a bit. If worst came to it you should theoretically derank from losing and be matched with players that are about right for your skill level. That’s what normally happens in games and there’s no shame if that happened to you. Everyone needs to start somewhere. The problem is that the matchmaking is a mess right now and even going down to rank 15 you’d be likely to get red rank players still.
I’m really hoping the matchmaking gets fixed asap. I’m rank 4 survivor at the moment but I notice myself being thrown against green rank survivors all the time.
If you want to cling to the game in the meantime then use high tier killers that can get the job done e.g Freddy. Go for Pop goes the weasel asap as well.
-
Borrowed Time is a necessary evil.
-
“One of the main problems with the forums and the game is the attitude towards killer players. Often the response killer players get when voicing their opinion on ruin nerfs and killers nerfs is to just get good”
No it’s not even close. I joined recently and so far I’ve noticed that it’s the strongest killer defenders that are the most antagonistic and responding to everyone with “git gud” no matter what problems they have with the game.
It’s like nothing can ever be OP or unbalanced in their eyes. Everything is perfectly fine and right off the bat their first instinct will be to tell people they’re bad at the game, rank 15 and need to improvend that they don’t know what they’re talking about. It’s very hostile.
I haven’t noticed anything like this from the “other side”. In fact I’m not even sure that other side exists. I’ve seen people that are neutral but nobody so far that seems to defend the survivor side exclusively.
