I dont want to comment on him because I havent tried him enough, but i wouldnt be surprised as thats generally the way they’re going now.
Killers wanted killers with no counterplay and the developers seem to be giving them exactly that. This is what happens when a group takes over a forum, spreads propaganda and then the development team reads it day in, day out.
-
Its not just you, its everyone.
I know people will say “well you’re the common denominator in these games” but no, I assume you’re like me and you always last longest in chase, always get the first gen done if you’re not being chased etc
Sometimes I play with a friend who is about as good as me. Us two always last the longest in chase. Always. Also if one of us is getting chased, you can bet the other will be the first to get a gen done. Often long before the other survivors. Which makes you wonder exactly what they have been doing..
Solo survivor has been heavily watered down so its not surprising. Also yeah swf voice comms advantage and all that. All the good players these days tend to play together so I guess that explains it.
-
Quick and dirty one off the top of my head...
These don’t necessarily go in order from left to right.
S: Nurse, Hillbilly
A: Spirit, Oni, Hag
B: Doctor, Freddy, Ghostface
C: Huntress, Pyramid Head, Plague
D: Myers, Wraith, Demogorgon
E: Legion, Trapper, Clown, Pig
I left out new Bubba because it’s too early to place him and I don’t own Deathslinger so dont want to place him anywhere.
Maybe some should be moved about. Huntress, pyramid head snd demogorgon could move up a tier.
-
I started in mid 2018. I think Hallowed Blight and onwards has been the best for cosmetics. Let event players earn them for free but have them available for purchase for new players.
I’m glad they made previous events cosmetics free. It sucked not being able to have David’s donkey jacket for example just because I wasn’t playing the game a few months earlier.
Legacy is something different though. Its not a unique cosmetic like the rest. Its something that was also done to appease players who put a lot of time into something before a drastic change came along. Personally I don’t think they should give out legacy.
-
That would ruin killer fun so no, I’m afraid the forums will be using their veto power on this suggestion.
-
Yeah I find that very hard to believe.

Because its too much fun to kill the servs with your chainsaw!
IF you will just win take the Clown with NOED ;)
Oh arent you funny
My point was if you just wanted to win kf course you’re going to take an easy to play top tier killer with NOED. Billy is top tier, the clown is not. The topic was about instadown killers.
The win isnt guaranteed but if you want to win you’re going to take the best that the game offers you. Like why do people take Huntress with Iri heads, ebony mori and NOED on top? The answer is, because why not? Most players in this game don’t have any sense of sportsmanship they just want the win.
Since you’re clearly defensive about killer though im assuming you’re a killer main so I’ll put it in terms you can understand...
Why would a 4 man swf team with thousands of hours take instaheals, toolboxes, BNP and purple flashlight and all the meta perks? Again the answer is: Because, why not? They just want to win and will take the best that they have.

No.
Simply put - you can integrate DC penalties, but the second you force people to stay in your game is the second your game goes into a heavy downward spiral.
You can not force people to stay in game.

I escape from Hawkins regularly. Sounds like someone needs to take some looping classes.
A killer main defending what is statistically the most unbalanced map in the game. Why am I not surprised? It”s almost as if you have some kind of agenda 🤔
Its funny because I wasn’t even talking about the glaring unbalance. Its as dull as bricks as both survivor and killer. Once I can put up with it but if the game throws this trash at me 3 times in one night you best believe I’m either giving up on 1st hook as survivor or just facecamping as killer.
35 maps in the game and this one comes up more than any other map some nights. Yeah right. They need to fix their map selection.
-
Because the people playing them are trash with no confidence in their ability, also NOED is extremely powerful so if you’re a mediocre player but just want to win why wouldnt you take Billy with NOED for example?

Another parrot.
What about We'll Make It? It's enough time to pull off a heal even when the killer is on his way back.
What about Inner Strength? Is it fair that DS deactivates when you're hiding in a locker and you manage to pull off the heal?
What about an Insta-Heal during a chase that you managed to pull off while the killer is still chasing you?
I kid you not with the killers I’ve had recently even We’ll Make It isnt fast enough to get a full heal before the killer comes back. Especially against Hag players.
These kind of chumps complain about DS the most but they dont realize they’re the very reason it exists in its current form.

https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/f4jpjk/tunneling_3_survivors_simultaneously/
These are 3 examples (I can't find 2 more but I remember one where Deathslinger got DS'd from a hook-grab, and AngryPug I think getting Locker-DS'd literally 3 times in a row back-to-back-one-after-another) of where deactivation upon certain conditions would make sense. It's impossible to "be tunneled" if you're unhooking someone and I grab you.
These things don't happen every match (I'm not a red-rank killer) but it's definitely annoying when it does. Especially if the survivor players are trying to take as much advantage as possible out of it.
Would the changes make it easier to tunnel? In a way, yes. (IF the survivor is progressing the gamestate after unhook by doing generators or divebombing a hook. But is that really arguably tunneling?) Do I want the changes because I want to tunnel everyone to death? No. I want the changes because getting DS'd from a hook-grab is infuriating because there's no real counter-play. Everyone says "Go after the unhooker" but we have situations where the unhooker will DS you, do the unhook, his unhooked friend body-blocks him with BT through the exit gate, you down him at the last second, then HE DS's you, (Although that one can be considered tunneling) etc. and there's just no real winning in that situation.
I've already touched on DS in the endgame (for the unhooked survivor) in my original post. Dunno what to do about that. I know killers can try to burn DS by tunneling intentionally but I hate the idea of having to tunnel on purpose on the off-chance they might have DS so it won't proc in endgame.
In your opinion what is the underlying issue and how do we fix it? I think DS just needs some changes so it can't be used offensively (Doing gens, rushing a hook, etc.) but only defensively (I.E. killer returns to the hook and actually tunnels you.). I can't think of any better solution that wouldn't make DS completely useless or too powerful. Tying DS to the Terror Radius like Borrowed Time for example (If there's no TR when unhooked, DS never activates) would make DS useless vs people who return to the hook or use insidious. If the DS countdown only went down when outside the killer's terror radius survivors could follow the killer around and keep DS up literally forever.
Having certain actions preemptively end the DS timer just sounds like the best solution since it would still punish actual tunneling while preventing people from just progressing the gamestate while under the DS shield.
In Jund’s video all he had to do was not pick up the Claudette. He should have known he hooked her within 60 seconds. He could have just slugged and then waited as it would have forced the other 2 survivors over.
Same for Tru3’s video. Just lunge from a distance.
The problem with DS deactivating after hooking someone else is that campers could then easily play around with it.
Funny how its Claudette players abusing it in both scenarios. Im not surprised one bit.
I could understand DS maybe deactivating if you worked on a generator or did an unhook but I dont think healing should be affected. First thing a survivor should be doing is healing to help give protection against a tunnel.
-
Its very easy to time your m1 so that you grab the survivor as they exit the locker. Otz tested this with people on his stream and the timing for a survivor to escape has to be very precise.
The killer has the advantage in this situation. Survivors only hope is Head On.
-
The Billy “nerf” was disgusting. Really shows how spineless the company is.
Their forums got infested with whiny killer mains and now the development team is too terrified to rock the boat. They just keep pandering to the loudest voices.
I’m sure DS will be nerfed into the ground too so that killers can have their fun and go back to tunneling everyone out of the game asap. Throw in the dc penalties the killers begged for and I can see survivors getting fed up and quitting the game.
-
So if all 4 survivors are going for this challenge at once it basically turns into a game of chicken against the EGC.
Explains why so many people were waiting in exit gates yesterday refusing to leave. Just what killers enjoyed the most about the game.
Pretty good challenge so far.
-
@Axeslinger said:
DC penalty needs to be removed. Even if it did work survivors could just kill themselves on hook, which whether you believe it or not is no better than just dcing. 30 seconds is not going to save you on a 3 man at 5/4 gens. All it does is hurt killers whille survs still have an easy way out. It's telling how most of the people here advocating for the penalty are speaking from the perspective of a survivor main.
Lmfao WHAT?
Its by far killer mains that advocate for dc penalties, always has been
First survivor can suicide on hook but I bet you 2nd to last gets slugged for the 4k. Fun. Not to mention killers that are toxic or get salty and leave people on the ground to bleedout.
-
Because Spirit isn’t a problem. She takes 2 hits to down a survivor, her distance is limited by her slow movement speed, and the fact that if she phases for distance she then has a 15 second cooldown on her power. If she messes up in a chase with her phase shes then on a cooldown and chasing at 4.4m/s until that power comes back.
Now compare that to someone who can run at 230% speed anytime they want even from the start if the trial. He’s the only killer allowed to cross the map instantly from the start. Not even Freddy is allowed to do that. In addition he has unlimited instadowns on demand, and if he misuses his power he has a minimal cooldown for a second or two.
Basically there are penalties for misplaying as Spirit and limitations on her power - with Hillbilly there are none. Spirit has to work for her snowball, with Billys power he has HUGE snowball potential all game long and is one of the only killers that can play like garbage all game but then turn around with a bit of dumb luck into a snowball the survivors cant come back from.
If Billy wasnt from 2016 he would have been nerfed into the ground already. Spirit is only unpopular because shes picked so much and because survivors either play dumb against her or dont like the killer actually having a chance at loops. I’m sure Billy isnt so bad when you’re in your 4 man swf and everyone has 3,000 hours playtime but in your average game with average survivors Billy was overperforming. You needed 4 really good loopers to beat an average Billy. It shouldnt be a case where a killer is so strong that 4 people need to play extremely well the entire game no mistakes just to beat an opponent player who is mediocre. Thats the definition of overpowered. Hillbilly was overperforming.
-
I was watching Otz stream and he says Myers and Trapper have had their walking animations swapped. So its likely Myers animation you saw.
How this happened I have no idea 😂
-
I dont get why everyone picks on Spirit (actually yeah I do, it’s her pick rate). Deathslinger and Legion in frenzy have way less counterplay and are far less fun in chases than Spirit.
-
Your suggestion will be moderately considered. Thank you considerably for posting it.

All of these deactivation conditions and prerequisites don't address the underlying issue. This is a Survivor experience, but every complaint and balance suggestion is about improving the experience for The Killer. Tunneling is already effective, powerful and easy to accomplish. Yet all of these posts are ultimately about making it even easier to tunnel.
And I've seen myriad videos from a lot of whiny crybaby streamers that show a very skewed perspective. When they tunnel and slug someone and laugh about leaving that person on the floor for 60 seconds bc they know they have DS, those videos aren't posted in their highlights.
As a killer, I have never accidentally run into the same person within 60 seconds of being rescued. And this is probably because I don't tunnel, I don't camp, and I never go back to the area of where someone was recently rescued. I'm not saying that the people that do run into people within 60 seconds are doing that I'm just pointing out that in my experience I never have this problem.
Well said.
I hated old DS. Absolutely hated it, it felt so unfair.
When new DS came in I had some apprehension but I think in the past year and a half I’ve probably been hit with it....under 10 times maybe.
These people who are struggling with new DS game after game after game, they need to reflect on how they’re playing because it sure as hell sounds like they’re tunneling.
-
Deathslinger can pull survivors around most objects. Theres very little survivors can use that blocks him.
I wouldnt even be mad if it wasnt for the fact that to date literally every deathslinger ive seen has been a proxy camper and tunnels hard. Like even wraith and ghostface players must look at deathslinger players and shake their head.
-
Either double bleedout speed for survivors, or free unbreakable if slugged for 2 minutes.
Slugging for the 4k is hands down the dullest part of the game. Especially when its a really bad player who just sat around the hook all game but gets to win because the survivors were morons.

I play both sides equally a lot. As survivor I refuse to use DS because it's such a bs perk. To me it's the same as NOED. "Well I lost but I think I deserve to win anyways". If DS wasn't a thing Noed wouldn't be needed.
Lmao
If killers didnt try to tunnel one person out of the game within the first 2 minutes then DS wouldnt be needed.

You do realize that survivor elitists review bombed the game and spammed the forums until they got their way? Dont act like one side is morally superior to the other.
See, thats a very defensive post because at no point did I ever mention survivors or killers, I just said “players”. Billy was just the most recent example.
-
Community attacking the devs has gotten them mostly everything wanted so far - case in point the devs backing down on balancing Billy.
When the developers reward the players like that obviously the players will keep doing it.
They should stick to their guns and give billy the balance update that he deserves

Ahh good to know! We finally found the DBD oracle, the only true god of this game!!
No point arguing anymore, you're the only person who knows how to play perfectly, I apologise. All these 5000 hour players who do this for a living are mere peasants compared to you, their unworthy opinions hold no value.
most of them are killer sided, and their solution "make it deactivate when another survivor is hooked" would easily be abused by campers or instadown killers.
-
No, it's the only answer to Legion or Hawkins.
-
They don't care. So long as they get money they don't care.
-
"but but nobody is asking for charge time add ons!!!" - cried the killer mains, yet here we are again.
Billy plays no different to his basekit before. The devs chickened out of the changes. Posts like these just go to show how people were using Billy before. It was all about those add ons.
Well don't worry. the devs caved again and gave him a new charge time add on. Just take enduring/spirit fury all game and eat pallets and you'll have improved charge times all game long.

Oh but you do. You do have to be punished for it.
However if you hack the game, go afk, troll, bodyblock and sandbag, work with the killer, or tell people to die of cancer post game you'll probably get away with it.

have you seen the new cosmetic collection? it looks pretty cool, you should buy some 😀

except they admitted he was overperforming lol

-
why not? most people just want to win, ebony lets them win. Its why everyone brings the most powerful things. Those of us that like chill games and sportsmanship are only putting ourselves at a disadvantage.
No point posting it here though. Killer mains will assure you that you'll only see a mori in 1 out of every 100 games. Even though you can sometimes turn the game on and have 3 in a row.
-
NOED is op. I run around the map doing 4 totems but it still activates and wipes out multiple survivors. Maybe NOED should get weaker the more totems are done?
-
the thing is the game has become darker and darker, and its not a good kind of dark. On The Game for example there's a lot of black crush. Throw in all the blendettes and some people have a huge advantage. filters just even the playing field.

Also i said I won't play rigged game as a killer since i don't trust EAC and many times devs "fixed" backdoors cheaters came back more and more, even with more invasive hacks like teleporting killer and locking it in the place, speed hacks, insta heals and so on...
Oh sorry I guess not.
Well, the devs have been silent so far on the hacking pandemic and there's no sign of the cheats stopping anytime soon so errr.....buy more cosmetics I guess? there's a new greek collection didn't you know.

lol I love this forum.
Killers: "Survivors need to stop being entitled. Killers shouldn't have to play by their rules".

Plenty of people on these forums like to act like just because there are 4 survivors to 1 killer that it must be the survivors fault for the toxicity, or that because the potential ratio of toxic survivors to toxic killers means that saying that both sides can be as bad as each other is insulting.
Like he slugged at 5 gens, and people say hey, that's not fun, so he makes it seem like people are whining about being killed. No, they just wanted to actually be able to play the game. You gonna tell me getting only 2k points is fun? That everyone got the most out of that round after probably having to sit in a queue for 5 mins minimum? Prob more?
lol and 2 posts later the perfect example shows up.
-
"In fact, you can still easily 4 man slug with IF without overheating. This shows that the overheat feature was completely unnecessary as it does basically nothing anyway, and it seems like a huge waste of time. I'm not even gonna go into the add-ons here."
Exactly, it was utterly pointless and a complete waste of time. So either the devs were wrong or their stats were right and they're leaving a killer unbalanced because they're afraid of the community. Either way it's sad and just makes me doubtful for the future of balance in this game.

Hope that EAC detects it! Like other more invasive cheats... I really don't know how to answer on that. Anyway thank you for answering it and sending dev answer i really don't know what to say. I refuse to play killers while being forced to play rigged game, like killers are not stressful enough...
LMAO
If you haven't noticed, EAC isn't detecting anything these days hence the hundreds of hacker vids in 2020 circulating on youtube and twitch. EAC is worthless.
-
That's the idea, that he has an overheat to balance him, however as others have stated in 99% of cases it will never come into effect so it was entirely pointless.
-
well dc penalty is back so of course they're going to
-
@LudvigVonBastard said:
Lets be honest - DC penalty is only for petty players to feel better about themselves. IMHO most of them are more selfish than DC people. "Oh, penalty must be here because people MUST PLAY the GAME, they cant have anything else to do while playing and they should play even with house on fire!" Yeah...
Anyone with random WiFi DC will understand why i think that. :/
When someone RQ is usually funny. Tunneling or whatever. Whatever... It was faster this way. Before they slug whole game to die on first hook. And what then? I could DC ang get penalty or waste time to do the same, or waste even more time trying play 3 Vs 1. :/
But on the other hand, i guess OP is playing Doctor so at least 50% of his games are ruined by DC players... Be happy, dear Doctor, be happy, nasty DC will be punished! ^^
Pretty much this.
The major reason why I disconnected was when somebody else did. I join a game as solo survivor, I’ve done nothing wrong, 30 seconds in the claudette disconnects cus she went down first.....well the game is thrown then. Why should I stay in? Why should I suffer a tilted game? Why am I punished by having to finish an unfun game when I did nothing wrong?
Before you could leave. Now you can’t. Thats why I stopped playing. Nea suicides on hook within the first 60 seconds, then the next person suicides on hook, ok game is over you think but no the killer will slug me for the 4k. Every [BAD WORD] time. These are the people that beg for the dc penalty. Entitled [bad words] who just want the ez win and the feeling of power.
I queue for 5 mins get into a game just for 2 people to quit out either by dc or hook suicide within the first two minutes and then I’m expected to watch my character lay there on the ground immobile for 4 minutes before I’m allowed to join another game. This game just punishes the innocent.
In other games the 1st one out takes the punishment, not the players that dc due to the game being thrown. Not in this crapfest though.

True,I have seen that. I usually end up running away from them the second time they do it. Laughing my head off going "Meat for the beast. Guess I'll try to unhook you in a sec or two"
When they crouch at the back of the map LOL I remember being that green. Ah to be so new.
It can be frustrating though - very true. It all depends on your mood too. I don't find its all of them and I swear to you sometimes it's done on purpose.
I had one game where a level 20 ish got us all killed from the repeat BOOM - but they never ever boomed when we weren't on the gen;s with them and when we were all dead they were magically perfect and able to do everything and escape. he killer all of a sudden was blind to them as well.
Things that make you go hmmmm
Yeah definitely some people that do it on purpose. They make it more obvious though because then they try to sandbag you or fast vault pallets to bring the killer kver. Which is a reason why survivors sometimes get salty and disconnect.
Thats why I’d rather just play killer or swf only. Its not surprising solo survivor is dead these days with so many idiots playing it
-
Clown is more fun to play though even if he’s not as strong. Throwing bottles and creating gas clouds is better than just spamming blobs of tomato soup on the floor. If I play Freddy I pretty much always use pallets.
-
With the Hillbilly update Behaviour has proven themselves to be incapable.
Whether you agreed with the Billy nerf or not, they made key design decisions on how to best change Hillbilly.
The loudest voices scream and moan, and then the developers didn’t just adjust the numbers, they basically went back on their design decisions. For example they said they wanted Hillbilly to have a feeling of resource management, but they’ve now been so generous with the numbers that 99% of the time you’re never going to have to worry about overheat.
This means that either...
1) The developers were completely wrong in their original design. Meaning they couldnt accurately determine what changes he needed based on their data
or
2) The developers were right, but they fear vocal members of the community so much that they threw their decisions and work in the trash just to appease people.
Even if you try to say it’s a bit of both the fact is the difference between their original design and what we ended up with is pretty large. Whether its option 1 or option 2 either way its pretty embarrassing. Personally I lean towards option 2.

How is bloody clothes an advantage though? I also don't get what you mean by bendies blend better 😅 don't know all the lingo I guess sorry mate haha.
Certain cosmetics make characters harder to see.
Claudettes prestige 3 outfit is known to be one of the best stealth cosmetics in the game, it tends to blend in with a lot of environments hence the term “Blendette”.
Compare playing prestige 3 claudette vs Ace in his golden nugget outfit, the cosmetics alone give one survivor a large advantage at evading the killer.

@[Deleted User] said:
Some people find this difficult to process, but I'll lay it out simply...
Hillbilly had too much going for him with little drawback
He had strong mobility, map pressure, and insta down with little drawback and he shreds through pallets fairly fast. The devs rightfully noticed that while his power was fairly balanced, it lacked the restriction that other powers have, allowing it to be mindlessly spammed.
Now, if you're at least average with Billy, you shouldn't overheat, but spamming the thing will cause it to overheat. It punishes poor plays while not affecting those of us who can use him smartly and effectively.
Huntress? Limited ammo cap, needs to find a locker to reload, 110%ms with a larger than normal TR, takes time and practise to get good with her shots and learn when to and when not to throw them, or use them to zone...yeah, a power as good as hers doesn't have drawbacks...at all. Take away her gross Iri head and infantry belt add-on combo and she's good.
What are your thoughts on Spirit just out of curiosity?
