  • Yeah technically it is not, but this tactic lacks sportsmanship. Why play if you're not going to at least try?

Have you seen any of these perks? They're all no-skill. They activate under conditions. None of them involve outplaying people. Its about catering your playstyle to a certain build and tactic.

NoED caters to an entirely Late Game build, sacrificing the potential for good Early and Mid Game for a clutch Late Game. You don't 'deserve' anything other than a down if you're so big headed you think you're above being punished for your lacking foresight.

Yeah, but who uses late game builds except new killers or those that lack confidence in getting 4ks before gennys all pop?

And there is a lot of mind games throughout a match that allows the opportunity to out play your opponent. Why would you sacrifice your early and mid game unless you lack the confidence in that part of your game?

Noed is a crutch that rewards bad game play. Use it if you like, but it's like DS for a survivor , it's a crutch. You do nothing to benefit from a perk.

  • Noed rewards bad play. Like it or not. You put noed on you are already admitting you can't prevent gennys from getting done.

I have 7 devotions as killer and I know how hard killer can be. But I wont use noed because it's a waste of a slot . Kill em before gens all get done or take the loss.

Of course play how you like. I have no problem as survivor blowing up your noed and saving my friends. But dont act like noed means you outplayed anyone.

  • I love this game and play on PS4.

I play both sides and sure sometimes the bugs will cost me but we wear that with a badge of honor because we love this game.

Try not to take it so seriously and remember the other side are humans too. We all just trying to have fun and get better.

I see killers on these forums all the time talking about this game being survivor sided, and I am not trying to argue that it is or it isn't. I simply want to know where the survivors are that make them feel this way. I can assure you they aren't the survivors I end up being paired with nearly every match

The majority of the time I end up being paired with survivors that:

    • hook farm with killers and rarely attempt to do a generator
    • just have to run and heal a slugged team mate even though the killer is standing right there
    • do nothing but hide in lockers the whole game.
    • basically do anything and everything stupid thing they can to make the game easier for the killer

What I wouldn't give to be paired with survivors that play like they have a brain in their head

Play killer... rank up....they will find you!

    Doubt it.

Also have fun finding them all on Lery's/Hawkins without a Map, Small Game or Detective's Hunch to prevent NOED while someone is getting camped.

People don't mind the exposed part of the perk. What people want is a requirement from the Killer to activate it. Could be anything, really. I just hate how this perk rewards those that chase/tunnel one survivor the whole game.

I would say, if you notice that playstyle assume they have noed and do the bones.

  • Gotta agree, by that logic there are not toxic survivors. Even tbagging and clicking lights may work to give them an advantage if it tilts you.

I try to play fair to both sides. I don't bring in toolboxes as a survivor and I don't camp nor tunnel as a killer.

In reality I am a game player, not a killer or survivor, as such I attempt to have good sportsmanship.

  • Yeah, new topics please

  • It is more prevalent in lower ranks. Usually newbie killers who are insecure they will be able find and catch another survivor.

Unfortunately it is often rewarded because it is hard to not even try to get your teammate off the hook. Even though you know they are camping, you also know your teammates experience in the game sucks, and it tends to be like, "well I should at least try to get them". But this of course rewards the camping strategy.

It is a low skill strategy that you will rarely see the higher you climb in ranks.

That was before they added the emblem system the hook requirements didn't exist when the game began

But they still count as sacrifices, correct? I think only bleeding out on the ground doesn't count. Mori, rbt, devour hope all count I believe.

I don’t play perk less but I play silly addon and perk combos that almost hinder me... distressing wraith anyone?

    Haha...fair enough!

You can't smurf in DbD as long as ranks reset.

What if i quit for a few months? Is that smurfing because i'd be a low rank with good builds?

It's not smurfing if you take some time away. But dont bring your op loadout. You know the one you would use to play against red ranks.

If my rank resets to far I play perkless until I get to a more even competition.

Crushing noobs is unfun and unfair. And only feeds one's own ego.

  • Ok so we know toolboxes are getting nerfed, We can make them sabotage only or just have them super slow I guess.

Get rid of the ebony, keep the others, perhaps make cypress base kit, pretty good ideas.

Keep hatch but perhaps only 1 survivor per key could open it and escape. Each survivor would need their own key except the last one.

Good discussion points so far guys. Is this a consensus?

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1093418#Comment_1093418

The hatch is 7K points for getting though (While a gate is 5K) 1/3rd - 1/4th of a survivors points are usually from escaping, it's not just lucky it can make a game actually worth queueing up for, additionally, you'd basically always lose due to how gates are, against Nurse/Billy/Spirit it would always be a 4K if the 3RD was killed, and against the rest it's like a 90% chance of 4King if there was no hatch.

I agree you would have very slim chance of escaping this way, And it may promote more tunneling knowing that 4k is all but guarantied. Good point.

  • @Seanzu said:

Toolboxes with ruin nerf seems obvious now,

    These are being changed.

Hatch, who cares if you get that last lucky magical escape after your team all died. Also no more slugging for the 4k. 3rd person dies and egc starts.

This is the definition of "feeling entitled to a 4K". Once hatch is closed it's almost impossible to escape against a good killer, and given how door placement has been lately you can stand in one spot and move left/right and check both gates within seconds, and you know who cares? The survivors care, the survivor shouldn't just default to dying because you killed 3, you earned the 3K, not the 4K

Keys, no hatch no need for them.

Keys definitely need looked at, but not removed, almost every singe pink addon/item survivors have has been nerfed into the ground and are useless now, which is why Keys are seeing a lot more usage.

And moris, are just so unfun to play against, except when you all escape and see the killer played an ebony. You know that feelsbadman! They do seem to promote toxic playstyles from a lot of killers as well.

Same as keys really, while killers do have pink addons that can spice up gameplay, making all these 7K items totally useless or removed just dampens what the game is. I think Cypress should be default kit for all killers, and then we'll have to have some brainstorming for the other two.

I know toolboxes are getting nerfed, they may be about worthless when this happens.

With the hatch it is nice to find when you are the last player but personally it's just a little bonus. I don't play random so I would just rather try for the doors and move on to the the next game with my swf if there is only 1 of us left. If that was the case we would all, already considered we had lost. We like a minimum of 2 of us getting out. I guess solos would feel differently if they were the last one left. But let's be honest a hatch escape is a bit lucky.

Like your mori idea too. I can see your opinion on how it would dampen the game to lose these items. I guess for me it would streamline it and cut it back to the basics of killer skill vs. survivors equivalent team skills.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I say hatch and key are ok, but only 1 survivor can use it. Not this nonsense where 2 or more can escape. Originally I thought hatch should go. Still on the fence .

I don’t use mori’s because I prefer the BP and challenge of getting hooks. I would use mori’s if they counted as sacrifices but I don’t think they do.

They actually do count as sacrifices, but you tend to lose a hook action and some killers do it after first hook so they would lose two hook actions.

I like your suggestion on only 1 survivor being able to use hatch per key.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/129814/so-how-do-you-feel-about-getting-rid-of

If we just toss out moris you ether need to make "kill a survivor by your own hand" disappear or make perks that allow you to mori easier to get for newer players

Valid point, maybe just drop the ebony, thanks for the discussion

  • I think it is hard if you want to maintain high ranks continuously. You can stay in purple ranks no problem by playing fair. But maintaining red ranks requires constant pipping against some real good survivors. With current gen speeds it is very hard to not occasionally use some unfun tactics. And my in fact be necessary.

  • That was horrible. You ever had to play just you vs killer and do 2 gennys against the doc. Still most unfun game I ever played.

  • @Facture said:

I use to watch all the big names, but mainly just watch fungoose at this point.

Yessss... a fungoose devote! Same or me. I watched a lot of them but now just the goose. Great technical killer. Fun personality, and an awesome survivor as well.

  • @Rivyn said:

Pudding. Always pudding. I want to say streamers, but those things are cursed. Seems like every time I pop one in, survivors become extra tryhard.

I agree with you. Pudding as killer.

When I play survivor it's Streamers of course. But when I play them as killer survivors do seem to go all try hard.

Can't lie to you, I do like farm offering as survivor as well.

  • Yeah I dont notice a lot of facecampers. I see a lot of tunneling, which I hate, but I understand the reason behind it.

For us it's pretty simple. We win chases and we get at least 3 out. We lose chases fast, and it may be 2 escape or less even.

  • The penalty is the knowledge that they are a crappy killer.

    Unless it's egc.

  • Had a teammate steal our item after playing shroud of union so we could switch. Me and another teammate that is. But she stole it and wouldn't give it back.

So she gets caught first and hooked in basement. Well no one saves her. Funniest part. We actually escape and before we do. My daughter goes in basement and retrieves her flashlight.

  • @Skelemania said:

I will say, I have definitely seen more instances of where people 99% the door becoming a detriment to people surviving than being helpful.

I get it, you're trying to wait so that the end game collapse bar doesn't start. But what happens more often than not, is that extra second of opening the door and then having to back track to where the door opens makes the difference between someone surviving or dying - especially if they don't have Dead Hard or they're Exhausted.

Not a fan of that strategy at all. I always open the door all the way & then people have that EGC bar to get out.

I agree. This drives me crazy. 99 them until hooking action is complete to avoid blood warden. Then open them and go for the save.

  • Get rid of both. They have overstayed their reasons for even being in the game.

I say get rid of hatch and toolboxes as well. That would go a long way to balancing out some issues.

At this point why do we have hatch? So 1 survivor can get out after their team lost? Just power gates when there is 1 survivor left.

I am relatively new to this game, been playing for a few months. I went out of my way to earn enough extra money to buy a few characters but the one that I wanted most was Plague. I loved the idea of her powers. Using her, though, I have run into difficulty. I'm not the best killer as it is and neither is she, so it would seem. Does anyone have any useful tips for using Plague? Or just being a killer in general? I have been working on this for months and am preforming much better with other killers but I still suck at the one I love most. I watched a bunch of videos on Youtube and still haven't gotten much better. I thought maybe the killer needs work but then I saw a few other videos that said she was in an ok place. Thoughts?

Have you checked out the streamer fungoose. He is a plague main who went 116 games with 4ks at red ranks with no add ons. Check him out and he will help!

  • Sounds like classic case of trap rushing to me!

  • I like it on freddy with discordance and thrilling. Fake teleport and the survivors run away than thrilling locks up genny for 16. Also throw some snares around totem if you can early and it may last a bit.

  • Yeah I gotta agree with @johnmwarner. I guess if your letting people go it's not that bad. But if you're purposely not ranking up it's kinda hard to complain about mm.

Specifically when you stated that you just want to dominate lower skilled players.

  • Yeah I agree, green rank your just playing high purple and red ranks right now. Albeit with some serious purple potatoes mixed in. Thanks for you guys!

  • Yeah, then forget about her. Sounds like a boring stream if she is spending the rest of the time talking about one play.

Tell your friend to switch and watch fungoose! He is funny and highly skilled. Non toxic as well.

  • Agree, can't we just play the game and if you get a chance to complete your challenge than do so. But not at the expense of your teammates.

  • She might have meant it was stupid to take the first hit if the hook was real close and there was no way to wiggle off.

  • He should lose blood lust when shocking tho. Like Freddy when putting down snares.

Have to admit, I t-bagged first. Do you think it makes me toxic?

1 game doesn't make a person toxic. However only you know if this was 1 game or if you have a toxic playstyle. I still like the golden rule myself sooo....I play the way I want someone to play against me.

    Each their own tho.

  • Did he teabag you first? Or just his name got you tilted?

  • 16 to rank 13 in one night. Good for you dude.

    MM looks tough tho!

  • Do you mean like he rage quits because he couldn't catch any one and gens were going off due to his lack of pressure.

In that case. Like I triple pipped!!

  • No, this is why good killers don't respect crappy camping killers that give us a bad name.

  • @Stitch7833 said:

swear half of these so called rank 1/2`s should be yellow ranks at best, they cant lead on chases, theyre way to scared to even touch a gen or try save you. if by a miracle they do go on a gen they keep missing skill checks with nothing affecting them... i wont play till this is sorted out, its a joke to even say these people could be near red ranks.

I have seen this as killer. Sometimes I am simply perplexed by what survivors are doing.

When I message the 1 good survivor in the game like, "what happened there?"

They always answer like I don't know damn boosted survivors. I feel for those trying hard who get screwed by crappy teammates.

  • I was killer main for seven devotions. Never really touched survivor.

Now I play survivor 70% of the time. I just enjoy the team work concept and more chill games.

Although I have been doing a level 1 killer challenge . Seeing how high I can climb in rank with out spending a single blood point on killer. So far a 15!

  • I haven't noticed as a killer, unless that is why I'm running into so many potatoes.

As survivor it is reason I wont play solo anymore. I play to survive not watch you sabotage 3 hooks than suicide on therir first hook.

No I'll wait for my friends and play some killer.

  • I like chases as well, except when I get my ars kicked.

I think some of the problem is how many potatoes are in high ranks now. I have double pipped 5 times today playing killer. All ranks 8 -4. They can't loop, hook diving trying to hide in bushes. Like #########.

Think new reset boosted a lot of players.

  • @Carlosylu said:

As killer: 3k+ and black pip at least

As survivor: 3 escaped (it doesn't matter if I was the one who died) and black pip at least

    Those are Ws for me

    This for me as well!

  • Rather see flashlights in my lobby than toolboxes. They are easy to counter.

  • I think working as a team and being efficient is fun. I think escaping and winning a chase is fun. I don't bring in toolboxes because I feel that is unfair with the Ruin nerf.

Unfortunately with efficient survivors the game can go fast. For me I want to escape and get my team out. If I don't pip and still escape that is more of a win than pipping and dying, for me.

Also as a team mate I feel I should optimize my time in game for the team. So if there is a long chase going on I am going to pound gennys and totems. I see and know how this can be frustrating for killers, in the games current state. This is the reason I think we should not be bringing in toolboxes for the time being.

So to answer your question, minus the toolboxes it is fun to escape IMO. Although I would prefer it be in a game with some chases and hook rescues.

  • I know just about all my games I am in at least a 2 man swf. Can't stand not having at least one teammate doing gens.

  • No. Sux for the survivor but at the point it may be the difference between the killer getting a safety pip or not. Plus a well organized team can still get him out if it is not an insta down killer.

Yeah make everyone quit playing dead by daylight 😂 Watch you queue up as a killer and listen to the crickets at the campfire

I don't understand why that would make everyone quit. It would seem to balance the game a bit more. Your comment added very little to the discussion. At least make a counterpoint or explain why this would make you quit.
