Think we found a poor sport!

I like killers that feel quick, like doctor and hag. Sometimes trapper.
I like the stealth aspect of the stealth killers, but i don’t know why they exist, because you can’t play “take my time stealthing across the map” like I feel you ought to.
Nurse is so.... ugh to play. I love her character but she’s like pulling teeth to play her.
Freddy is meh to me. And I will never play billy or spirit.
Why never play billy or spirit?

Yeah nothing to do with iron will, happens way too often as well.

Whilst I obviously don't have an exact answer, it's likely a combination of two factors:
Increasing specificity of "ranks" and "kit measuring"
The former could be as simple as having a basic elo system on the backend much like you see for the front end of overwatch, so instead of ever player being a 1 of 20 possible rankings, each additional player adds an additional rank and you climb up or down these ranks by winning or performing well in matches (beat a stronger foe you climb higher, lose against a weaker foe and you lose less rank progression). The reason they want to remove the rank displays is due to the fact that it could lead to confusion, as rank is and always has been more of a measure of time spent during a season and measures how well you did in the match, regardless of the opponent you're matched against, so for a while you would see many rank 18's matched with rank 1's, not because the system messed up, but because on the back end the 5 of you are very similar in relative elo score (this would also encourage players to not bring intentionally weaker teammates along with higher skill players or accept the fact that the killer will be matched with the assumption the total elo is split 4 ways).
For kit comparison, it's unlikely to be a factor, but essentially it would measure how much each player enjoyed a game, factor in all the variables (maps, perks, teammate perks, the killer, the killers addons, the killers perks etc) and over time used that data to find players who have reported having the most fun with similar preferences (this is the best arguement for picking any value in the "did you have fun" area on the results screen, as that would be the closest the devs can get to knowing if you had fun or not).
Anyway, just my two cents
Thanks!

No, if it works, it takes a predetermined checklist and it tries to put you with people that you play similar to; instead of putting people at the same rank together, it will try to put people of similar skill together.
Thanks. Sounds hard to do. How would they determine similar skills in this kind of game?

PC. Fair warning I'm not good just lucky. I still have a lot to learn. But if you're up for a good time with a teammate that wont just abandon you and will die so you can escape I'm your girl!
Totally would but I'm on PS4.

Sorry that sux.
I always give killer gg wp after every game unless they were extremely toxic.
I can't tell you how many reply thanking me for not being toxic and being cool.
Win or lose we need to try and be chill with each other. It'll only help the community.

Post game chat: Useless ass Blendette didn't do anything all game. Not a single gen. Trash ass Blendettes just sandbag the whole team. You could have gotten out if you actually did a gen.
Killer: Me chasing her is literally why you all did gens
Teammates: Look at the Blendette. You only got out because the killer let you. Working with the killer is grounds for getting banned. Enjoy your ban.
Can someone help me understand. IK I'm dog ######### at this game. IK. But when I have games where I feel useful to my team I'm so happy even if I don't make it out. That game the chases were fun, All I had was head-on, windows, and palettes to help me in chases. That's it. I don't understand what it is about survivors in Red ranks. I'm about to hit them and the past few games I have gotten shitted on so hard for litlle to nothing. Not taking DS, taking self heal, not bringing in a toolbox to medkit to "give" to someone else.
I hit red ranks last season but i was only played SWF so I never ran into toxicity. This time around I'm flying more solo and jesus this is horrible. People chat in pregame lobby about how to piss off killers and if I don't want to partake in it I get sandbagged, people come over and blow up gens I'm working on, vault at windows near me, open lockers I'm in, etc. Yes I do report but holy ######### why is it so awful. I got yelled at for wearing Caludette's pink and white crop top and her red skirt instead of darker clothes. I get bitched at for not burning offerings.
I'm less than 2 months into this game but omg. My feelings aren't soft, their words don't hurt me, I just don't understand why people are so quick to destroy a team's morale before the game even begins. I thought red ranks were supposed to be best of the best but everyone here just has an ego the size of seto kaiba's and the toxicity to match.
What platform? Always looking for good players to swf with?

Yeah..its to tunnel them down

I had 3 grab animations just cancel out yesterday in 1 game. Not even a hit registered. Start grab...then boom survivor runs away.
It goes both ways.

But wouldn't MMR match people closer to their devotion level as opposed to their current rank?

i mean really when is this going to be fixed?
You have like 11 devotions. Have any of them been on killer? What was your highest killer rank achieved?
You may be playing a rank 1 survivor on their first devotion. Just making point time in game should mean something.

I'm in the same boat. I never see it as survivor because totems are so insanely easy to cleanse. I don't use it as killer because there are *better perks to use*, but NOED definitely has it's place, and using it doesn't make a killer bad or a noob.
Fair enough point. Thanks for the discussion.

Oh, it's a dick measuring contest now.
Devotion 17. So...I mean, there's that. Not that it makes my opinion any more valid.
Yes, let's call killers insecure or noobs for using NOED, a perk that can be prevented by survivors from ever existing. *Makes perfect sense*.
First....awesome job....devotion 17... I mean Damn!
As a survivor I don't mind noed anymore. I just cleanse it and go save my friends.
But as killer it's a perk for noobbs imo. Play it if you want.. tunnel if u want...camp till high tides...idk...but it's not the highest caliber of killer that can exist in this game.

I'm talking about the smug sense of entitlement and looking down on anyone who uses Noed.
There are many reasons people may run the perk even with one shot killer.
1. It's more efficient in multiple situations than using the one shot power
2. Surprise
3. They might just like the perk
Fair enough. I dont mean to be that way. If that's how I come off to you.
However experience in game does allow for certain amount of insight. As such I have gone through many stages of killer. And as you perfect your craft you will see noed as useless and training wheels killing.

Get off the ego high horse Jeez
Killer is very ego driven in my opinion. That's why we want 4ks. And not 2ks and be happy with the state of the game agreeing that 2ks is indeed balanced.

I spy someone who has never played killer against decent survivors.
Haha....7 devotion as killer my friend.
Rank 1 ps4...so no. But I appreciate your defense of killers.
I spy a newer killer that is struggling in red ranks?
-
It is insecure killers or noobs that use noed. Especially when they have insta downs
They lack confidence in their ability to use said insta.
Except myers because he has to build his power and it just seems appropriate on him.

I will tell you why killers won't quit at all, because about 80% of my solo surv matches still end in 4Ks. And that's because the majority plays solo and even when it's againt SWF there are a lot of bad ones. That are the real facts because that's exactly what I experience in my matches. But people still whine about in the forum which just always SMH.
Straight truth. I played 5 killer games today and double pipped each time.
Ps4. Rank 11 killer. Purple and red survivors all day. Most gens got done was 3.
-
Finally a second objective for killers!
-
Plenty of killers will still tunnel me off the hook through BT and straight out of the game with 2 streamers offered.
It's an individual thing, not so much killer or survivor.
-
Sounds like you are confessing to being a sore loser. And a bad sport.
This is exactly why I will never farm and just keep running away and doing gennys.
It seems you enjoy contributing to the toxicity.

Thank you.. I'm not mad I stated my opinion. Yes I got out of a game before I made this discussion and I got a little heated. Maybe I shouldn't have. I understand people have different ways of playing. I was just heated when I wrote this. It's all about a matter of skill.
No worries my friend, happens to us all. See ya in the fog!

I love how Killers think they better than survivors. Like u think you're the best because you killed 4 survivors...ok but you CAMPED! F*ck that sorry excuse that it's 4 to one. When I pay killer I beat 4 survivors without camping or tunneling so what's the excuse! Here's some advice for you "think you better" Killers... Step your game up, because your lame. You Killers can talk in this discussion all you want, it still won't change the fact that you're sorry. You beat us, ok cool. But you did it desperately. You still lost in the end.
Who exactly are you referring to? Is it a certain type of killer that bothers you. I also play a pretty fair killer, never camped, don't tunnel, although if you are found later as I patrol gens you will be hooked again. That is not tunneling in my opinion. But I have also mellowed my opinion on killers recently.
You want to tunnel and camp me to death. Well I will still send you a GG WP. It use to make me mad. Now I accept it is their choice on how they want to play. They are honestly limiting their own growth as killer and helping me work on my loops.
So what exactly is it you are mad at, because I can't figure out what you mean by your post.
-
I don't know if Rank means nothing to Killer. I mean it is harder to pip as a killer and you are playing much harder competition as a Red Rank Killer.
So as we all know, survivors can get boosted by their SWFs, but the only thing that really could boost Killers was old Ruin and that is gone. So I would say a Red Rank killer, their Rank does indicate a certain measure of skill and competency in the game.
It is not always so for survivors because it is easier to pip as well to be boosted by SWF.
-
Its ez mode for killers . Had bunch of them last night myself. Can't wait until they get nerfed after toolboxes.
Just send a gg and move on! Don't take it so seriously would be my suggestion.
-
Funny because I faced nothing but rank2-4 killers yesterday in my SWF. We are a rank 1,3,5 and 9. I couldn't believe I had found the unicorns!
I thought perhaps matchmaking was fixed, maybe just an outlier day, on PS4.
I must say, those killers were exceptional, it was nice to see killers that not only challenged us but often times destroyed us. Albeit with some serious tunneling , but I can't blame them at those ranks.
And also to the other point of SWF, we don't bring in toolboxes either and I don't think any of us play DS. We think it is unfair since Ruin nerf.

i really dont see any point actually, then to play Spirit or Nurse if im Honest. and even with spirit i cant apply enough pressure, if map is bad, or pallet and loops are overexceedingly stupid spawned
Yeah sometimes RNG is your worst enemy. I still think Freddy is very strong as well. I use discordance, thrilling, pop and another perk depending on mood. You can fake teleport. They get off gennys thinking you are coming, then do the pick up, locking the gennys with thrilling, then teleport for real and kick it with pop. Can be pretty effective.
-
@thefallenloser said:
Sound bug doesn't happen on PS4 from as far as I can tell.
Also you can SEE when Spirit is phasing now for some reason lol. Her entire body shimmers which is weird but also how it should be.
No I play on PS4, and deal with it all the time. Consider yourself lucky.
In certain skins her shards will shiver, not in all of them.

If you see another Survivor go unhook a hooked one, able to hit unhooker. Then both of them run, will you go after unhooked, or unhooker?
I always go for unhooker, of course if I see both of them. Though most of the time unhooker just go hide and unhooked running with scratchmark.
@Clevite except if you chase on a side and others repair at another side. Especially the chased one is injured. Its hard for a Killer to abandon the chase and go to another side of the map to Find other survivors, while the Injured one heal themselves.
There is a simple idea to make Gen time extend but not adding repairing time. If you can tell the difference between:
- 5 Gen at 95%
- 3 Gen at 100%
(1) 5 Gen at 95%, if you're good and lucky enough, you can make those Gens regressed to 0%. One the other side, (2) 3 Gen 100% means 60% Objective complete, permanently.
I have an idea that if we let Killers able to kick finished Gen, make it regress 5% (4sec), though it will not regress further if the Gen finished once.
Example 5 Gen done, Exit Gate powered, Survivor open the Gate at 50%, Killer kicks a finished Gen cause '4 Gen done'. The Gates stop powered. Survivor unable to continue opening the Gates.
This idea will make:
- Reduce hook camp if 5 Gen is done. (since Killer has nothing to do at that time, you dont leave your precious hook and go to the Gates)
- If Survivor done more Gen, its easier for them to keep the Gate powered
- Intense Gate power/deny between both side.
I also go for the unhooker, or slug the one that just got off the hook and continue chase. Also if you have injured one person, leave them and go towards a genny with discordance, you would be splitting pressure as the injured survivor is healing. In no heal meta it is a bit more difficult to split pressure as many will just continue on gens.
But if you are facing a well coordinated SWF that does gennys on the opposite side it can be very hard game to win. I just don't see these squads enough to see them as the majority.
You can beat the best killers in the game if you get the middle genny early and force them into bad rotation. But once again I rarely find great teams like this. Often they will all be grouped up and rushing the save allowing for an easy snowball.
I always try to have one guy on the hook and one guy slugged. Then you can only lose 1 gen at a time, throw in some New Ruin or Pop and things can snowball quickly.

I played her yesterday without any sound issues.
That's great! I still play her with sound issues and she remains strong.
-
What changed is she is deaf now. You can't hear survivors even if they don't have Iron Will. Played with her the other day and thought all four had it and it was only 2. Also with the sound bug as is, can't hear a survivor that has been slugged. I had one on hook, go back to pick up the other one and no cries any where.
Spirit is a top tier killer that doesn't need any more nerfs. The window vault makes her much more loop-able than before. Her add-ons were nerfed. And if you know when to run and when to sneak away you can still lose her.
-
@C3Tooth said:
@Nakedwildman yes, just you. If Devs give players ability to do something, there will always people who exploit it. Its just the same as Ruin nerf doesnt make Survivors stop Gen rushing.
The game will be in great play if Devs get rid of Gen rush/Tunnel/Facecamp.
These don't exist. I know what the terms mean, and I can't stand tunneling killers, but it is a game style one may choose to play. Gen rush is just doing your objectives uninterrupted. Killer is not applying enough pressure, usually because they are tunneling or camping.
Split your pressure, observe any possible 3 gens if needed for end game, if game is going against you, play high mobility killers, work on your looping, play anti tunnel perks.
-
Really increasing gen times, in any way, will result in almost 4k average. Killers, i know unpopular opinion, are very strong compared to survivors. Even great 4 man SWFs can be beaten if killer has enough time.
-
@White_Owl said:
Camping is a lot less stressful and rewarding imo, because you dont worry about how you will be gen rushed regardless of how your chases go.
You see, that is the exact reason why gen speed will never be changed.
This exactly. Can't change gen speeds without making hook stages longer because camping will just be a too easy 4k.
If you playing killer accept the challenge and get better. There are not that many seal team swf out there. Still plenty of wins to be had.
-
This is hard for me as well. I have nights where we SWF and I survive almost every game. Other nights we run into great killers and struggle to survive, even tho we almost always only have 1 gen left and we are purple ranks at least.
As killer I have a lot of success. It is rare for survivors to even power the exit gates, but I like to play strong killers. I guess there are killers out there that could use buffs, i. e. clown, but at the same time you can choose to play stronger killers if you want more power. That is why I choose them, I want to be powerful as killer, and hate playing killers that seem weak.
I think the game is pretty balanced, as long as people are not bringing in toolboxes, which I think is rude to do in current state of the game. Some maps probably need a rework as well.

Just starting this thread to shut out this guy deciding to spend his whole game to let me depip randomly, 15 secs after the game started he came right where i was doing a gen and stood there the whole game without giving me the chance to do anything at all. It's just sick that players are allowed to do smth like this.
Did you finish the genny?
-
Fungoose as well. He is the best imo
-
Swf is what makes the game competitive. 4 randoms is a almost guaranteed 4k.
-
What platform are you on?
Best way is get a couple of friends to swf with. I won't play randoms anymore because of the potatoes.
-
I don't anymore. I just say gg and move on. I don't like it but it is their choice on how they want to play the game.
-
Oh god I feel ya! So many purple potatoes.
Love em when I play killer tho.

They are strong at the end game, but hopefully you have secured enough kills by then that it won't matter.

You do nothing to benefit from all perks.
And perks almost have zero bearing on mind-gaming. Some even nullify their use, like Play With Your Food which can close down certain loops at three stacks.
You could use the argument you're using for literally every perk.
"Oh, using Prove Thyself? Don't have confidence in your ability to repair gens?"
"Oh, Dark Devotion? Don't have the confidence to run up to people on your own? Gotta play stealthy?"
"Hmm, Infectious Fright? Can't handle finding people on your own?"
Literally just remove perks if you have a problem with it.
I don't have a problem with it. And you have a good point about perks.
I guess my point is that noed is a crutch perk that rewards failure. I have played plenty of killer and never see a use for noed. I mean how often are 4 people escaping on the same killer that one would need to make a build around it?
Unless of course you are new to killer. Thanks for the discussion.
