All things considered, for most killers Midwich is a pretty fair map, not really favoring any side over the other. Imo probably one of the more fair maps in the game.
It really depends on the killer and I'd argue that it's hard for newer players because everything feels like a maze.
For more skilled players, I do not think it's as bad per se.

I found it really situational. No doubt when it works it works, and itโs absolutely hilarious when it does. I once I finally got value out of it laughed for 5 mins straight, which made all the frustration worth it in the end. Maybe Iโll give it another go. Ngl I straight up had to run to the forums and get help with getting this perk off the ground.
Just need to find the opportune moment, slap the Chem Trap on a pallet, have the killer look at it with confusion, and you two have a beautiful moment like you're in a romantic comedy and you're golden.
-
Even though I call Midwich, quote unquote hell
Yes, once you learn the loop layouts of it, you can have nice chases on the map. I still think it's absolutely dreadful to load in on.
I appreciate them adding clutter towards where the gate is, but all the clutter in the hallways? Eh, it could go either way for me. But yes, it still sucks for me but I won't throw the game just because I loaded in on Midwich.

It's an okay perk.
I really disliked when they reduced the activation requirement but cut the duration in half from 120 to 60 seconds. I used to love running this perk with Any Means Necessary to essentially pre-trap a pallet outside of chase and lift it back up, but with the much shorter duration it doesn't really work that well anymore.
I wish I had a video of it, but one time I did this against Legion with Iridescent Button (vaulting a pallet breaks it), I dropped the pallet which I had already trapped ahead of time, he vaulted it probably without even realizing it was trapped and got slowed down because he broke it with the addon and ended up losing his frenzy because he couldn't catch up to me with the hindered effect. It was funny.
I must say, I do like that they made it easier to get a Chem Trap! Allows the user to actually use it more times in a single trial!
I didn't use Chem Trap before it's perceived "buff", however you look at it. But it was a joy to play with when I went against the Blight on Coldwind. It's a really fun perk to use and really changes the gameplay for you because it makes a killer think twice on breaking the pallet or to continue mindgaming you.
-
@Clevarz said:
I feel like chemical trap is underused as a perk and not as valued as it should be even as a killer main which I'm usually against all survivor perks but holy this is broken and looks fun to use it gives the killer 2 options which guarantee distance for the survivor walk around the pallet until the survivor messes up or the survivors runs and gains distance or break the pallet causing yourself to be slowed and the survivor gets a good amount of distance which is like insane and I cant even be mad about it because it's kind of clever and means they are actually doing the objective and not just bullying me and it's kind of funny seeing the survivor just whip a almost C4 like contraption out of nowhere and skedaddle off
in conclusion, Chem Trap is broken use it more I love you guysI once went against a Blight using Chem Trap and he did not want to mess with me and my little contraption on the pallet.
It's such a beautiful perk, I'm glad I changed the buttons and I usually only put it on very strong loops where the killer and I have to either mind game or they eat the Chem Trap. I'm surprised I don't see it more often. @HeroLives , see, the people love Chem Trap. ๐

I hate that I have to say this, but eventually you die so much โฆ your MMR puts you in lobbies where you can actually accomplish those things. There is hope and you will finish those challenges. I know from personal experience. I had to force myself to stop doing old archives until 2026 because it was starting to negatively affect my mood in real life. After game 10 of trying to get a challenge, it really eats at you.
Oh my God, Wolfe. ๐
This is precisely why I opt to do the easier challenges. I still have not completed the Dead Hard, No Mither, have a survivor wiggle off with Break Out, or anything else. I usually just go for challenges that coincide with my current playstyle. If anything, I would change the challenges to be much more accessible than they are currently to avoid issues like throwing the game to ultimately die or just like Wolfe here said โ to avoid lowering your MMR so much that it just puts you into the lesser played lobbies.

There's a lot of interactions that always favor the other side. Like when Victor is literally on top of a slug or a pallet, and the survivor never has a conflict of prompts. They always kick him through all else. But then you go to Pinhead, and the "break chains" interaction is the same as the "vault pallet" interaction with survivor (at least on console), which often leads to free downs for the killer. This feels like trying to heal by a pallet, like why are these still conflicting after all these years? Fix your game.
Very great response, Daniel. They just need to add more button prompts or separate them, especially in the case of perks that counteract different actions. I don't remember if I have problems with Pinhead specifically. ๐ค
I switched my vaulting button to square and my healing is still R1, so that I can still heal and pick up survivors without having an oopsie like other console players.
I have it set where my exhaustion is x, my other ability button is circle, and my drop item is triangle. A bit of a lot of changing on my end, but I barely drop my item anyways and triangle is out of place, out of mind for me. Crouch is hitting my R3 stick in, but once I get the Dualsense Edge and the paddles I'll definitely switch my crouch to the back pedals! ๐
Just need to mess around with button configurations, but once you changing the healing and vault button you will find yourself one step closer to a PC player and avoid those general mishaps!
-
@danielmaster87 , yes I have no idea why they thought it was a great idea to make it so the survivor has to make it to the end without being hooked at all.
I don't think I even have it done because of how much it makes you look like a selfish player and it is completely against my way of playing as a survivor as I'm pretty selfless in general.

Yes, I completely forgot about the Dark Sense addition until a little later after my response. ๐
A lot of the challenges that they make, make you have to borderline throw the game. It's why a lot of the time I usually do the easier ones or try to do specific challenges towards the end of the game if I need to.

Cannot stand it when the game prioritises an 9ff camera locker instead of a vault, that has cost me a few times. Items I haven't had much of a problem with
Sometimes won't even be directly looking at it and the survivor will go into the locker.
I've tried using Deception and it ruins it a little to have two lockers right next to each other. I'll Deception one locker and my character jumps into the other. I wish Behavior made Deception not be tied to the button where you enter a locker, I'd use it more for sure.

The problem with it is that barely anyone smart uses Self-Care, and people mostly heal atruistically.
So we either have a potentially annoying perk or an useless one.
From what I experienced when I play soloq, people usually heal themselves which gives No Quarter its value.
No Quarter should have counterplay, otherwise you'll have people running around with no way to heal themselves or more people will just start popping their syringe medkits to bypass the No Quarter.
There's also survivors who generally do not have as much hours as us on the forums, so you have someone trying to heal themselves or someone else heals them and they're constantly messing up the skill check as well.
-
@SoGo said:
I think that, yes, it should work on any heals, not just self heals.
When healing altruistically, it would work for only 4 seconds (even less with perks that increase healing speeds).
But even then, it would be a disaster for soloq as now it applies to all heals.
Imagine the build on a Wesker (with his large terror radius) along with Doctor with a Merciless Storm, Coulrophobia, Unnerving Presence, and lastly No Quarter. I do think it needs more counterplay and providing that it makes soloq have to find another person to heal them is a good enough counter. I agree with @Nazzzak here in this regard.
-
Ah, I'm a bit iffy about that one personally!
But I can see your point, at the same time - if a killer is zoning you, the only thing you can do is 360 or even try to run at the killer. I've done that in one of my chases in my compilation where I ran towards the Hillbilly after unhooking my friend and the Hillbilly missed point blank with his basic attack (I'm already injured as Dwight) - mind you, I'm literally just running past him like I'm passing Billy in a hallway of a school, haha.
What I would recommend for you to deal with that is more so focusing on the survivor and hitting them. A 360 is a risky maneuver because they are banking on the fact that you miss, but if you focus on the survivor, you can avoid being 360ed because they can only 360 so much before losing distance if that makes sense. ๐

Don't get me started on the No Mither challenges or the use Any Means Necessary challenge to reset a pallet and pallet stun the killer again with it challenge - whatever it was. ๐
@bleep275 , yes - it's gotten to the point where I just do the more easier challenges so it doesn't feel like I'm throwing the game. I'm very surprised I got the challenge "Escape with only Self Care." challenge done on my first try against Xenomorph on RPD. I'm glad they're working on overhauling it because challenges should not be excruciatingly difficult to achieve - especially escaping with only Dead Hard but again, my opinion. Doesn't bother me because I kinda let my bloodpoints accumulate up to 2 million and then spend them enmass when I get the time, lol.

And about the less than one meter thing = no dash: It's another situation that feels completely stupid that you have to hug the killer to avoid an attack. I was lucky enough to get a hardcore tunneling huntress that tunneled a sable that was cracked in chase while the others body blocked. I did all five gens. I am so happy. All challenges are done now.
The spine chill one was def wayyyy harder
I'm glad you got it done! I still need to work on the Premonition and point at the killer challenge. ๐คโ ๏ธ

We often hear from the playerbase that solo queues biggest problem is people not being team players. All this change would do is ensure people who aren't confident hitting those checks avoid healing team mates so as to not alert the killer. Yes, I can see this argument as well - it is already hard enough to find another player in soloq to help heal you.
Thank you for the informative response, @Nazzzak

How the hell did you guys get these done? Im solo q since all my friends quit this game. I cannot for the life of me escape without being hooked once with spine chill or finish 4 gens in a SINGLE match with dark sense. They're the last two challenges I need to get done and they feel impossible.
Can the devs change these to make them more feasible or not as infuriating at least?
Like at least with the killer challenges I was able to show I was friendly and the survivors obliged me. But hthe odds of a killer throwing me a bone, in todays DBD climate, next to nothing.
What I would recommend with 4 gens done in a single match is to slap on Bond and Prove Thyself.
Hope for a decent soloq team and group up right when someone is about to finish gens. I got that one at some point. You can even go an extra mile and put Deja Vu on too. ๐

No worries ๐
Don't have the entire record anymore so I can't say which platform she was on, but I've reported her for Exploits just to be sure.Yeah, 100% looks like a bug or exploit.
There is 360ing a Wesker, there is Wesker not having enough distance to hit the survivor, and even other types of counters you can do to Wesker.
No reason for her to have invincibility, especially in a 2v8 situation. That is indeed wildly suspicious.
-
At least my initial text explains to others about the perceived crouching towards Nemesis, lol.
But upon further investigation, yes - she should not have been able to do what she does as there is no crouching anything towards Wesker, lol.

It definitely does look like Feng Min for some odd reason crouched before being hit.
That is super odd to see, as I've obviously never seen it before.
It probably is either a bug or subtle cheats, it's crazy that with two killers there that she managed to get out completely unscathed - no down, no nothing. Was she cross-play?

Im all for it. The reason why some perks don't see any use or aren't used in Solo Q isn't because they're bad, but because there's no way to communicate to your team that you have the perk.
Wicked or Deliverance is a perfect example of this, some one is more than likely going to go for the save when its not necessary.
I have seen the idea float around that even if a survivor goes into a locker with Head On, it would be nice to show it as a yellow locker to signal to people but that's just a minor little thing too.
You are correct that unhooking yourself perks never see the light of day. Even in soloq, you have people preemptively unhooking themselves right as soon as the survivor comes in their radius (obviously because they get value from it without you going all the way up to them). With the changes, I am hoping that it creates more of an impact to learn different survivor playstyles too and more build variety. ๐

In over 8 years not sure that's ever happened to me honestly.
Lockers a bunch of times! & even gens more than a few times its certainly infuriating. I play on console 99% of the time though doesn't help with somethings.
Its equally annoying dropping a pallet when you are trying to heal someone!
Oh yes, those annoying little lockers right next to the vaults.
I have different button presses when it comes to picking up an item and dropping it (respectfully). I don't think I have had an issue where I vault and accidentally pick up an item, lol.
I think I have seen it before, but it's mostly the lockers that I find that are an issue or even Pinhead chains (console users lol).

Most of these are just 'not that good', not actively favouring the killer. No Mither does benefit the killer though, along with Potential Energy and the Invocations. Autodidact used to as well.
I really like running Empathy and Autodidact, however. It's such a good synergy, especially in soloq and you're not rushing to heal people directly to get value. It's nice when you get the five stacks you need, haha.

I feel like if a survivor heals another survivor skill checks should appear when it reaches 75 percent progress on healing.
Hm, it would need to be tested for healing against a killer solo vs cooperative.
I hardly see the perk, but it would synergize a little too good with Coulrophobia for sure. I think the problem is the situational conditions it provides, but if you extend it to cooperative healing it gets to be more of a nuisance.
But I think if I went against a player with that type of build, I'd just do gens injured, so you wouldn't get much downtime as a survivor would just ignore healing and push gens.
It's a nice thought, however - could punish people who are too stubborn and feel they need to heal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz8XkQ_twng
We were already losing and my friend was gonna use me as a wall to get this Feng and then this happens.
She crouched and avoided the hit.Crouch tech does not affect Nemesis. -> Think of Huntress, Xenomorph, Deathslinger and other ranged killers.
The reason why survivors are able to crouch and avoid your whip attack is because of how Nemesis' hitbox is.
Think of a scenario where you are tier 3, break a pallet, and the survivor crouches to avoid getting hit by it - by design it is there to continue chase and allow counterplay.
Whereas view it from Demogorgon's, Blight's, and Hillbilly's perspective - these killers are charging directly at you, a survivor crouches to make their hitbox smaller, and the killer misses their main attack.
Put any of the other killers in this scenario, they will hit the survivor, but because there's an obstacle or object blocking the path - the survivor has counterplay to avoid being outright downed.
Put simply, avoiding a Nemesis attack isn't crouch tech at all.

Ive gone against a few people multiple times and they're consistently a horrible experience. Does blocking a player prevent me from being paired with them again? if not it needs to.
No, you will be matched with a blocked player as far as I know.
I don't think it does anything when you block someone as the game prioritizes MMR match-ups. I know in TCM, it tells you when you're matched with a player you've blocked.
I believe DBD will still match you up, but the likelihood is very low. I rarely get matched up with people I've played with when I would play. Most I've got is 2 times with specific people (that I have not blocked).

Would a highly coordinated SWF beat a basekit Blight? Probably not. How about Nurse? Dracula? Or any other S-tier killer, still no.But against let's say anything even A tier and under potentially the survivor side will edge out over the killer side. But you're comparing unalike things. You are taking the strongest possible setup that survivors could have under these parameters, 4 person SWF with clock call outs, and comparing it to weaker killers.
Well, my post was directed towards @PetTheDoggo 's initial response and I adjusted my answer accordingly to the parameters set from the above.
Regardless, it's such a far removed aspect of what DBD truly is.
Even then, you could still use these clock callouts - there's no rule restriction in the initial post that says it is not allowed.
Information is very vital when it comes to playing this type of game. If there was a highly coordinated SWF going against a killer with these restrictions, they will still give the killer a hard time โ now can they win is another story? Soloq would be absolutely obliterated in the above scenario.

Yes and my point is most games are not SWF teams. Please use the average games as a yard stick for measurements
The way you have laid out the description of the game is just completely not how a game of DBD is - with your restrictions and everything tied into your initial post - it can go either way.
Why would a killer constantly know where a survivor is 24/7, while a survivor has to constantly be on the move?
Additionally, in the case of not healing and just going around 1 hit is completely different to how a regular game of DBD is.
In this situation, the game is just completely far removed from what DBD actually is - but I'll bite and say that it more than likely goes towards the killer in this situation - but again, your scenario and restrictions are placing it as a killer sided match-up, not that DBD is inherently a killer or survivor sided video game.

Didn't momo win thousands in a row? Surely you not going to actually sit there and type he didn't verse any good SWF?
Yes, killer will always win. You can play perfectly as survivor but still lose if the killer is good.
I never defended the killer's winstreak for having thousands of wins, you are putting words into my mouth.
The question was who would win in a straight neck-and-neck position, I mention how I believe survivor would win if they're a highly coordinated SWF depending on many variables and factors.
As I said in my previous response, it's not as black and white as many things.
Would a highly coordinated SWF beat a basekit Blight? Probably not. How about Nurse? Dracula? Or any other S-tier killer, still no.
But against let's say anything even A tier and under potentially the survivor side will edge out over the killer side.
I am quite aware of the killer winstreaks being in the thousands versus the measly hundreds for survivor - however, that does not change my opinion that a basekit killer with no built in slowdown would struggle against any highly coordinated SWF, especially if they utilize clock callouts.

Doubt it, at least for me it is much easier to play survivor without perks than killer (depends on what killer).
If no sides can use items, addons, perks, then if we talk about SWF I would definetly bet on them. It's a killer with no information, slowdown, or chaseโฆ
Yes, imagine playing with no gen slowdown, no healing slowdown, nothing. There is nothing to slow down the other side other than simply hooking (as a general sense of slowdown) or slugging. I just can't see killer having an easy time here unless of course they're playing a character with high map mobility and the skill set to snowball.

playing as survivor is way less stressful than playing as killer. As long as I have competent teammates, I definitely prefer the survivor role. The major problem with survivor side is of course solo queue where you get none of the communication benefits that SWF enjoy and the matchmaking system doesnโt work so you will often get paired with brand new survivors even if you have thousands of hours in the game and know what you are doing.
Yeah, I think that's why the MMR system needs a general overhaul.
Instead of it being based on W/L conditions, it should prioritize what the specific individual is doing throughout the game. How much a survivor is pushing the game forward doing generators, unhooking people, taking protection hits, and other team based coordinated things and I am 99.99% sure that many games in soloq will be much better. Doing it on a generic W/L condition without any teamwork cohesion is what pushes people to play with odd soloq people. You have people who do the bare minimum, straight up leave, and their MMR rises while the people doing the most get the same level of MMR if they also win.
Same for Killer as well, reward people for doing their objectives - such as a killer and their hooks versus outright kills to keep their MMR up.
I don't know what they will do with the MMR overhaul update, but they need to include more things and it be more nuanced for a game of this caliber.

have you actually ever tried playing as killer?
People underestimate how much you have to pay attention to things as a killer.
Same for the survivor side, I think that's why it's so divisive in general on the forums.
Killer -- you have to ensure that you close down a chase fast, monitor your gens (you're practically babysitting them), be aware of your surroundings for those pesky flashlights/flashbangs (if you're not using Lightborne), and a plethora amount of other things.
I find myself getting more frustrated when I play killer than I do survivor, hence why I prefer playing survivor. You can relax and not deal with some things as there is general downtime for you unless you're experiencing a snowball or something generally out of your control.
When you play killer, you can easily get tilted for how people are playing but I mean, both sides can get tilted I'm just speaking on killer. I got more annoyed playing as Wraith and dealing with survivors on Eyrie of Crows than I do playing survivor on Midwich but that's just my opinion. ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ

Killer always wins. Survivors require the killer to be very bad at the game to have a chance.
Eh, you could use that same argument towards survivor.
Killer doesn't always win, especially as killer is prone to mistakes just like a team of survivors are. They're just more penalized more than a group of survivors as survivors can afford to make mistakes as there's four of them.
Soloq survivors are another story as yes, them going against a killer with little to no mistakes - they will have a harder time going against a meta build killer or Knock Out slugging killer due to their built in lack of coordination.
A skilled SWF can compete with a killer, as long as they're organized and know beforehand. It's why Momo's streak ended to a comp team that was aware that they were going against him, giving them the advantage over Momo.
It's not so black and white that killer or survivor wins, it's more so centered on who does less mistakes, what builds are used, and the skill set and game sense each has.
I'm sure I'll get downvoted, lmao.

Nope, your idea is just not good. Charms were not designed with the intention of giving an advantage, they are just little accessoires which should add to personalization and customization.
Yes, if anything I as a survivor main disagree with you @Thesevenspirits
Think about a killer or a survivor equipping 3% gen regression on top of the basekit value that a kick provides - on the survivor side you have someone equipping 3% haste charms and you have a basekit Made For This.
Even if you make it specifically set to no duplicate effects, it would cause subtle cheating to be even more of a mistake.
Charms are already a niche (I love them), but we don't need to apply small marginal increases to allow a killer or survivor a charm bonus. Let people decide if they want charms or not. Gonna have people going around with ugly charms like we're in some online RPG game.

Hey, thanks so much! I've just subbed to your channel as well, happy to support.
Yeah, seeing it in real time in a game really helps. I feel a little embarassed that I have never thought to do that myself lol. I haven't encountered knockout in awhile, but with the possible upcoming changes with slugging who knows if there will be an uptick. In any case, I'm thankful for the tip. ๐ค
Oh sure, no problem! In reality, you should thank @Nun_So_Vile because I more than likely wasn't going to upload the video today! Haha.
I was probably going to do a comedy video or something along those lines as I do daily chase videos anyways. I'm glad the video helped and hopefully it helps others as well. ๐คโค๏ธ

^ to my surprise, it was a 3 man out. I completely forgot that Zarina died to Rancor, but regardless 3 man out is a nice result for the game to me anyways. ๐

This is a bit random but I remember strongly (as one does with super positive or negative experiences) a match I had on Coldwind in solo against a ghost face who ran a full slugging build, and I actually did have exponential. The problem was he would consistently snuff it out, as he would always be able to tell where it was easily because anyone slugged would crawl towards it. I fought to keep that boon up 4 times before I ended up bleeding out. As did the rest of the team.
I remember feeling so grateful I had it equipped, but then it didnโt end up mattering in the end and it just felt extra bad because I did the thing everyone always says youโre supposed to do lol. Unlucky. But yeah, Iโm very curious to see how knockout and slugging in general will be adjusted in phase 1/2. Hopefully it will be a balanced and fair change for both roles.
If you want a visual representation of how to counter Knock Out, you can see it here.
I'll obviously edit in tips and strategies into the description box when I have the time (I'm a full time university student on my end).
But here is the video:
https://youtu.be/z-wgrS0jcVY?si=iDJ58doszN2WYhTdI just uploaded it, obviously have to redo the thumbnail and everything tomorrow (I reached my limit for thumbnails sadly).
I find it helps to see and visualize these things versus explaining over text, hopefully this video helps highlight that a Knock Out killer can easily be thwarted even in soloq, as this video is a duo queued session.
Just gotta take note of where the killer comes from, move from the initial spot, and put the killer in a dilemma to drop or hook you. ๐

I did perkless and add on less billy the other night just for fun and was getting consistent 4ks.
Yes, I could never. You have balls of steel because I cannot be in that position running my mains with no perks and no add-ons. Personally speaking, run whatever you want to run - it's a game and people cannot tell you how or what to play.
I let Mr. Tat0rhead have the fun of doing perkless survivor and have his own chaos! Couldn't be me and I'll admit I am a person who depends on perks to be good โ at least I recognize it. ๐

Yes equipped with the handy dandy detectives hunch as first perk pick. Imagine a whole squad of detectives and police. You can do det. Tap; det. Yoichi, saga Anderson , and r.p.d Leon, just roll up on the killer take out all their totems and die as a meme.
You lost me when you said die as a team, cutie Yoichi never dies.
Never put him in that dilemma.
Even against the most meta of meta builds, he will persevere.
Even against the Knock Out and 3rd Seal builds, he will go detective his way sleuthing around getting the pesky totems and use his detective skills to pick up the downed teammates. No matter, cutie Yoichi is on the case and even when the entity takes him, he loads back in, and does it all over again. #JusticeforCutieYoichi

I demand a tier list that includes Killers as well.
Let's settle this debate once and for all who the real queen of DBD is.
Let's be honest, definitely is Skull Merchant with that new outfit.
kill me please
I remember messaging a Playstation user when I got moried and told them thank you for doing the mori to me with the skin.
We had a nice conversation and he said he loved the outfit. No disrespect, nothing. He understood the Queen outfit that Skull Merchant has. I can't hate a Skully with that gorgeous outfit, no bueno.

I mean Meg can be cute. When she's wearing a mask. And doesn't open her mouth.
Hey now, enough with the Meg slander!

You ever just purposefully leave them up to see what kind of chaos unfolds? ๐
No, I'm not nearly as chaotic as you. ๐ญ๐
Once I see a glowing totem, I will cleanse it, and take a mental note in my sleepy brain to go back and cleanse once I see that Penti shine bright in the corner of my screen.
Why I want to buy the Yoichi Sherlock Holmes skin, detective Yoichi is on the case! ๐ง
