It's not a matter of prioritizing newer players over older players, it's actually quite the opposite. Back then, the way event cosmetics were stored were much less secure than recent events, and it made them susceptible to loss of progress (the reason why we needed to return them to people in the first place). We originally decided to return them only to the people who had earned them specifically to not alienate long time players who had worked for them. Despite our best efforts, there were people missing them who should have received them and didn't: The data we had at the time was not robust enough to catch everyone.

So in short, some of the people who did work for and earn them didn't receive their cosmetics back, and there was nothing we can do for them. Those long time players were out of luck. The idea of not alienating long time players ended up alienating those long time players.

It's unfortunate, yes, but leaving those people behind is not an option. This is the fairest way we can handle the situation. This shouldn't be a problem for future events as the way we store rewards now is much more secure.

So this entire comment isnt the exact same situation as legacy? Please elaborate how.

-earned in a system before it was changed

    -earned but lost

-couldnt be returned to some players

-kept exclusive to not alienate old players

-given for free to everyone because some couldnt get theirs recovered and were alienated

    Just. Like. Legacy.

And now that yoube went and done it with event cosmetics, you've opened the door to floods of comments just like this. Because your own logic has put you in a hole. Should have just kept event items that were earned exclusive. People will be asking for legacy daily now, and with perfect logic and understanding from Behaviour as to why/how it should happen.

  • @ayaya said:

How would they know it who had it and who didn't? They aren't even able to tell who cheated their save files (prior certain date)...

Then give it to any account before the cutoff date. Even THAT would be better than refusing to release it as a whole, only to alienate the players who earned and LOST it due to behaviours own issues.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

As someone who lost Legacy skins, stop complaining about your Event cosmetics. Those were participation trophies. Quite literally. All you needed was to play during that time.

    Big deal.

I'd like them to find a way to give us our legacy skins back. I had them on every killer/survivor, and THAT was actual work. 200 hours, minimum PER character to get P3 on each at that time. But sure, whine about your measly few hours of work to get event cosmetics. Big whoop, cry me a river.

Considering I've seen people saying you didnt even know you were getting legacy until it changed, wasnt THAT a participation trophy? You played before X change, and got something for hitting a marl that was in no way impossible.

Same exact thing as event cosmetics. Just a different scale/time frame.

Also, if you did lose legacy, why would you not be in favor of just releasing all exclusives to everyone? You would get legacy back.

  • @Zender said:

Calling bullcrap on everyone @Mister_xD @Yogerman1997 etc who acts like they play super casual and somehow capped it with 2-3 weeks to go. You guys are playing at least 40 hours a week.

During COVID I have been playing 25+ hours a week @Milo and each tome level I only have 1-2 challenges left (mainly because I do not own the killer/survivor) ..... I'm rank 60.

Here is the reality .... RIFT WILL TAKE YOU 150-250 HOURS TO COMPLETE BASED ON:

    1) If you do ALL the challenges, the less you do the closer to 250 hours.

    2) Rank/queue times, don't forget the 1 to 5 minutes you sit in lobby waiting. This "real life" time counts.

    3) Skill/luck/farming matches/DCs/etc

Someones a little salty they havent maxed out their time effectiveness it seems.

Also assuming everyone is waiting 5+ mins for a game is silly. Play killer. Instant games.

Also saying someone else cant do it just because YOU cant isnt how it works.

  • @Pepsidot said:

If this happend, players would complain 1 week after about not having the new exclusive legacy cosmetics. And the cycle would continue.

Yep. And had they just left event cosmetics alone nobody would have a ######### leg to stand on in the "give us legacy" argument.

But "were removing exclusives for the good of the communuty because some people didnt have the chance to earn them" and excluding legacy when it's the exact same thing, opened up a whole can of worms that they're gonna have to deal with somehow.

  • Just wait, if you miss it theyll give them all out for free in a couple months anyway.

  • As always, while representation is great, why do we need sexual orientations listed or labeled in a game about murdering each other. In a game where nobodys orientation, gender, or usually age is even mentioned. People are people. Who they want to ######### holds no bearing on killing each other. Unless using orientation to choose a target is your thing. Which is horrible.

Won't that hurt more the community from 2016 than just giving the opportunity to get them to everyone? Not giving them away, at least giving players like me, who haven't had a chance at playing in 2016 an opportunity. I know that they are special, because the game was small then and the community had to be awarded for it's loyalty and all but won't not giving them to players who lost them hurt them more in the long run? Imagine grinding a whole week for 1 legacy item or so( I don't know how hard it was) just so it can just disappear.

Imagine, a company removes all exclusives by giving them to everyone. Wether it was due to a bug loss or you couldnt earn it because the system has changed. Fair for all.

Except, legacy. Wait, it's because they "earned it before the system was changed". Fair enough, one could argue.

Well, at least they can give back legacy to everyone who lost it right? If it was so hard to earn and so old, only certain dated accounts could even be eligible. Nope. No legacy return.

What about just all accounts get legacy, so nobody missed out or is screwed due to a bug you "cant" fix or replace, when simply giving it to any account that existed before the cutoff date would be an easy blanket fix for those that lost theirs.

So as opposed to just giving the only last exclusive, and removing all exclusives like they said, also fixing bugs that cost others to lose their earned legacy, they want to keep it because of a reason that also applies to the event items.

It's horrible for the community at this point, because of their own logic.

  • Watch, theyll give it to everyone in a month or two and say they were collecting data about how the community responds to such an event. Killers holding power over cosmetics and survivors being selfish sneaks about it.

Or it's just another bad event.

  • Just wait a month or two and theyll give them out to everyone. If not it's just another exclusive that theyve specifically said they want to avoid.

  • You quoted two different people. How does that work when trying to call out one person on their own comments?

  • Yeah dont waste time. Well get them for free in the next year or so. I mean, we earned old event items and they're just handed out so I dont see why this would be different.

  • Because like a ######### partner, when we call them on their bullshit and be honest, they look for new, easy meat instead of fixing their problems.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1376811#Comment_1376811

I mean, that second person got their thousand bucks over a year later, if we're going to make this an equivalent comparison. By that point, I see no reason to care.

If were going that route we may as well mention that any person can now show up and have 1000 dollars. All of them. Not just one person a year later.

It's not someone WAITING a year to get it for free. It's something they werent eligible for that is now, a year later, being handed out.

Meaning the original one who worked, did it for nothing. And yet is supposed to care about false promises and future projects?

It just makes it even more of a slap in the face.

  • The incentive to work and show interest, he means. Not the incentive to simply show up.

Yeh you thought. They'll do it to everything else.

Specifically not Legacy though. Which, if we are being honest. Don't make sense, it would fall under the same premise.

People will defend their move till you bring up Legacy, it's ever so special I guess.

Yeah "legacy is different bc this" well the events were different from now. From before the sellout, the battlepass, and the hand out events. It's the same logic. We earned it a way before you changed it.

I hope you don't see stealth and healing are as big as generic chasing and hooking mechanics lol. Stealth and healing are choices for gameplay. I don't stealth or care to be healed. I don't entirely have a choice about running from a killer or being hooked by one. That's the whole point of the game. My point is exactly what I posted. Maybe read it again if you're confused.

"I only play this way, so other ways are invalid dont count for my argument, pleb."

    FTFY

  • Ahhh as in using it to get a free save. Yeah I see that point.

  • How does the hooked survivor have any control over being farmed or not by another.

  • I assume a bug or lack of oversight. I have two of Kate's bbq shirts. I earned it, but why would I have 2?

I feel like they used a prerequisite (played at x date, during X timeframe, etc) to see who was eligible and gave them out regardless. If they "may" have had them, they have it to ensure nobody lost it kind of thing.

Lol yeah, bad word. No, your mistake was defending the horse sh*t play. It may be effective but it is cheating. Idc what you say, it is. The people who agree with it are people who play like that and can't get kills otherwise. So you can take your "bad word" and go away.

Calling A strategy cheating kinda makes you look like a sore loser/bad player.

Scummy or inefficient is one thing. Cheating is another...

Its impossible to rescue someone safely when a Killer comes directly to their cage and refuses to leave. Getting a safe hook rescue is a luxury these days more survivors are not afforded.

If they send then to the cage and go looking for it right away they're an idiot. If you're gonna camp, use the hook.

Which if that's the case, BT wouldnt help mich because theyd just tunnel off hook.

    Stop farming people.

If my perspective were unreliable the Wraith would have teleported to their true position after the stun animation completed. The wraith himself confirmed he was nowhere near the pallet, and if latency were an issue in the clip (it isn't) you can clearly see he is walking in a straight line of which at no point was he in range of the pallet's model.

I see this happen fairly often, once every 7-8 or so games. Also consider that your experience doesn't determine everyone else's.

"Consider your experience foesnt determine everyone elses"

Proceeds to use personal, anecdotal evidence to prove point.

  • Unlucky or not sneaky at start. Dont go right for a gen. Hide and move around and see what's happening. Can you find the killer. Do you hear a heartbeat or indicator. Is another player injured? Then move on. Or start a gen for a moment and leave it as bait. Theyll search that when they find it and you're long gone.

But hopping on a gen immediately is a GOOD way to get caught first.

The being a toxic community argument isn't good. We ourselves are quite toxic. But most of the fnaf audience are kids or edgy teens. Suffice to say a lot of people don't want someone typing reported in chats because they don't understand the game.

Yet, that happens every game, and did when ST came out. DROVES of kids not knowing how to play, or just running in circles not even trying because "look I'm steve".

  • @Onionthing said:

No .. i really dont want to see FNaF in DBD mainly because it is more of a Crypto-psuedopsychological-horror game, also its lore is really convoluted, it doesnt have a movie or TV show (yet.) That being said ... Do you really blame them after the Legion Robbie Rawbbit outfits? The first thing I thought when i saw those was "oh sh-t here come the FNaF fanboys."

It has plenty of books. Which are arguably better source material than movies.

  • @LordVoidron said:

    @NigtmareReborn

People asking for fnaf when it really does not fit in dbd

Yet we have Stranger Things. At this point anything remotely horror related fits. FNAF fits more than ST.

One is actual horror. The other is an 80s scifi show with horror tropes and coming of age comedy.

  • Because it's a battlepass. It encourages you to spend money when you cant finish it.

The archives are great. If they wouldn't be directly tied to the rift. Fun challenges that reward you. But making them reward rift xp makes people ######### and moan that they're "too hard" and they will "never finish the rift" in time.

Thats the point. It's a battlepass. They want your MONEY.

  • Well, people want shirtless pyramid head because he was shirtless in the games...

I had a guy once find the hatch as the last survivor with two gens left. I knew he found it cause he was noise spamming. I stood in the corner. He noise spammed for a minute straight, then went and did the two gens, opened the gates, and stood in the gates for the entire EGC. Imagine being that dedicated to giving an F you after your team lost

Why not close hatch after he did the 4th gen?

  • Plus crows circling is an afk player. If he just gave up, it was probably to go find that person. Who was afk.

I'd be interested to see the clip to see how long he was gone/at the player.

  • Its not holding it hostage as the game will end with the EGC.

The survivor made a turn, and got caught. ######### happens. Hell. It happens to me.

Does not really make sense for 1 Killer.

I also do not stop to use Iron Will because it gets countered by Plague.

I use iron will almost every game lol. It's good in so many situations.

I'm not saying do it yo counter PH. I'm just saying that if it's happening often, is a possibility, and something that is causing issues to you enough to notice it, change up how you play so it's not an issue.

Doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity.

Hey,the original isn't even 25 years old, lol. It came out in like 98 or 99. I actually got it on launch day and got stuck on a puzzle at the very end for like a month. Same with my buddy. We were definitely over thinking it. Silent Hill 2 came out in 2001. So it'll be almost 20 years. Geez, you trying to say I'm old or something?! Haha.

But yes, Pyramid Head is easily the most iconic creature in all of horror gaming history. I can't even think of many that can compare. I guess maybe Nemesis would be the next closest thing, but he really didn't transend and resonate as much as Pyramid Head. I'd argue that Silent Hill is more iconic to the horror genre than some of the other suggestions, but that's just my opinion.

I've been a horror fan my entire life. They've included pretty much every slasher and killer from movies that have stood the test of time. It's really cool to see one from a horror game. Was beyond my expectations,so no complaints here at all. It probably wasn't easy for the devs, and I'm happy for them. There's always next time for the people who aren't excited.

"I can't even think of any that compare"

    Me: "uhhh Nemesi-"

    "Except maybe Nemesis."

I often report them for unsportsmanlike conduct because they refuse playing and let team down as much as being afk. I don't know if it's make any effect.

Other than flooding the team with useless reports they have to look at and throw out, wasting their time? No effect at all.

  • Farming isn't bannable. Whoever said that is literally saying the opposite of what the devs did. COTE said in reference to the Halloween event that if killers and survivors want to work together and get more points, that's up to them. What's NOT allowed is working with the killer/survivor to spite another survivor. If you message them "hey they're hiding X y x over there", that's griefing/working with the killer.

If farming was getting people banned, youd only ser tryhards, potatoes, and a lot of pissed off people considering cote gave it the greenlight.

Yikes - at least I know I will be able to watch an episode of a show between games then.

I don’t know what’s worse, crossplay being there or having the option to opt out of it. Lol

just not a fan of it since KB+M isnt supported on console, and ngl, there is a difference in style of play/control in the game between the two

But not a drastic advantage. It comes down to preference. This isnt a pinpoint fps like siege or CoD.

And with the insane sensitivity spike console got, turning speed isnt an advantage either...

Both of you have no clue why the massive outrage was for.

It wasn't because of the PERK, it was because they left gen times alone and they didn't do anything else.

They nerfed Ruin, and that was that without addressing the real reason it was "Used 80% of matches."

WHY was it used that much? Because gen times and gen speeds are completely effed up. NOW it's taking them more resources, and more patches to patch their mess up instead of just reverting the perk back to what it was.

See know you're moving the goalpost. First it was "the ruin nerf made them quit". Now its ruin nerf + lack of compensation. Wanna add anything else?

Actually, nevermind. You're a brick wall. I'm going to bed.

    Night!

he he hee oh my God right? Imagine being so RIGHT about the unjustification that it led to the biggest killer exodus this game has seen.

And the funniest part of this is that this patch was meant to bring back that killer player base because they know they ######### up.

he he heee you're so funny, oh my God.

And who the ######### said anything about being mad? Did you not see the posts on the forums on how matches were flying by? You've been a member since 2018, so I'm sure they didn't go unnoticed to you, or did they?

Did you not see the pages, upon pages of killer posts AND Survivor posts stating the the matches are flying by both roles were depipping because of the massive gen rush meta?

Imagine being so blind to the issue you think the Ruin nerf was justified.

    What a joke.

😆😂. Yes your rant is a joke. I've seen SO MANY threads about stupid complaints. From so many one sided biased, unknowledgeable people that want it their way. On both sides.

    And killer exodus? ######### LOL.

Sorry that calling out an easy point upset you so much that you felt the need to mockingly laugh in response and type a novel about it.

Stop letting stupid ######### upset you and enjoy the game. Because if the "ruin nerf" ALONE got any killers to quit, they were either already bad, or not patient enough to learn the game. It wasnt ever that good to justify quitting over it changing. It's just moody people who cant have what they want.

And again as you'll see while diving my profile, I play and argue both sides.

    😘

  • Exactly. It was only ever good against NEW or BAD survivors. Because good ones would hit greats or do bones. So the "killer mains" (I play both and the side vs side ######### is stupid) that incessantly complained about it just showed how much they relied on a perk that's good against bad players, to do well...

  • Well I dont play to appease a meaningless tally system that feeds an algorithm for matchmaking that doesnt work, and a rank that doesnt reward, so really it comes down to fun. Who do I want to play. Survivor or killer. Am I feeling like phasing as spirit or stalking as Meyers?

The entire reason I even EVER played this was because you get to play as or hide from horror characters in a semi horror movie setting. Killee is hunting and the survivors are trying to escape frantically.

So yeah. I dont get why people take this ######### so seriously and worry about easy or tough games. And hell, the ones I DO get that are super tough, can almost always teach you something or help you improve.

  • Wait...you hide in lockers against huntress? I dont think iron maiden is your problem....

Also, what do bones have to do with iron maiden??

I do agree in that part with you, killer mains just keep complaining about everything despite the buffs they have gotten, they are very sensible to every little thing the devs do against them and treat it as a war crime. It just gets annoying.

Uhh "either" mains complain about stupid #########. Its not just killers OR survivors. Its people who dont want to learn the game, dont want to improve, or wont play both sides, so they always think their side is getting shafted when it usually comes down to balance changes.

"well, if no one opens the gates, killer will be forced to make decision.

Patrol back and forth over and over, or just open the gate and get to next match."

I think they are referring to EGC, but there are some situations where the Killer does not have to patrol anything but can still stand between those Gates (maybe even on a Hill) and see both without moving.

THis should not happen. And it should also not happen that Killer closes the Hatch and sees that the Gates are impossible to patrol.

There should be a fixed minimum and maximum distance of Gates to each other AND to the Hatch.

If the EGC has started with no gates open, the survivors have effectively failed. Having bad gates at that point doesnt really change the fact that, again, they have failed already. It SHOULD be in the killers favor.

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 80
