^ This is probably the easiest solution and the most likely one to happen. Especially given the devs recent mention of ranked/unranked modes in the last survey. They could even add a scaling bonus bloodpoint system to wherever the longer queues are to dynamically keep them better balanced in wait time.

    It's a terrible (non)solution.

Before swf people used to lobby hop to play with their friends. That would simply happen again.

And nobody would willingly play solo ranked where they would go against sweatlords who think they're at the DbD Olympics.

All survivors, solos and swf, would go unranked. All killers would go ranked. Nobody gets lobbies. The change gets reverted faster than the blinding the killer during pick up patch.

I want to share some maths on what happened during the streak.

its been 67ish days since SBMM started.

2345 games in the SBMM Era.

387 of those games were VS Comp Teams (A team that can win a game in under 10 mins).

Or 16.5% of the games I play are verse extremely good teams.

MMR Starts at 1100 and soft caps at 1900.

When I started my Demogorgon Challenge to the best of MY knowledge I was at about 1400 MMR.

Because I am a mostly Friendly Killer.

It only takes 40 4K's to go from 1100 to 1900 MAX soft cap MMR depending on the MMR of the individual survivors.

That means within 20 4K's I was at Max soft cap killer MMR at 1900.

Which also means I won 40 4k's in a row VS the best competition you can face in DBD.

I was accused of punching down on baby survivors but MMR does not work that way.

It is far easier to gain MMR than to lose it because if you kill a high MMR surivor you get MORE MMR.

This means even if you only got a 1k. If you killed The AngryPug your MMR would be more than a 1K.

Also please note no matter what MMR you are at. You WILL face 15% comp teams. I tested 1000 games at lowest MMR.

It was still 16.5% Comp teams faced. Yes this means baby killers face comp teams too 16.5% of the time.

This means every game you play you have a 0.165 % chance of facing a comp team at ALL MMR levels. Thats over 1.5%.

The odds of me playing 60 games in a row without facing a comp team is 1.5 to the 60th power or 1 in 36,768,468,716

Anything past the 12th power is basically statistically impossible. Nothing in human history has exceeded this in Luck.

Take Dreams Fake Minecraft speed run for example, it was beyond the 12th power in statistical probability.

What does this mean? It means I faced at least 1 comp team during my streak. I went back and watched both VODs.

It appears to me I faced at least 5, 3 of which could have beat me, 1 of which defeated me on the 61st game.

I had a 9.9% chance of having faced at least 1 comp team in my 60 game run. Or 1 in 10. I faced 5 which is almost 1 in ten!

In other words my 60 4k streak was perfectly in the middle sweet spot of the statistical realiability range.

In conclusion, Just because your favorite streamer cannot do it has no bearing on what I did live in two live streams.

Have a nice day. (My games played and all my statistics are from tables I crafted and shared over the last 3 months on reddit).

This information is as close to correct as I understand it and if I am slightly off on something apologies.

How do you know they were comp teams? You know by their profiles they were team Agony, Golden Wolves, Oracle, Elisyum, Prodigy, Eternal, etc.? These are comp teams.

And comp teams don't finish games in under 10 min. They do in under 4. They'd dunk on a meme build Demo so hard that it'd go from tall killer to og crotch camera Blight.

This is not to downplay what you did, because however we want to slice it, that was quite the feather in your cap.

Also, I don't want to start petty debates of region vs region. Just keep in mind that NA survivors are on average less sweaty than elsewhere. By a good margin.

  • Do you mean the scenario where the last two survivors are slugged and the killer waits for one of them to bleed out as they pick up the other one in order to deny hatch?

It's legal. I wouldn't say it's intended, just unforeseen probably, but within the players' purview. Bleeding out is intended to avoid hostage situations also.

Don't take it personally if it happens. Some people just have issues.

  • Y'all falling for the bait like that.

  • Boons are generally banned in most comps.

  • 90% of the cast straight up counters it directly with their power. It affects a few killers who will just forget about it in a week from release, because survivors will realize that they're 200% better off taking SB or DH every single time.

It's almost as bad as Smash Hit. Almost.

You're all having a knee-jerk reaction. Same drama with Counterforce which was supposed to kill the hex system.

All this only because a streamer hates survivors running away from the killer and thinks that every chase gets the 1st hit in a corner of Mother's Dwelling and ends up on the opposite side with no chance of cutting off whatsoever.

  • @Zozzy said:

Wait for noed and then shove a boon on it.

    Do boons.

  • That sounds like extra steps to make a Legion who instead of vaulting makes vault useless against him and who can put survivors into dying state while being a speedy boy.

S tier? More like triple S.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

With how the maps are designed now, Billy would be even more of a dead killer if they removed the curving.

I still think overheat was a bad idea, what could have they done was just add anti camping cooldown like Bubba has.

Bubba's anticamping literally does nothing. I'm convinced they just thought they came up with a clever idea and never even tested it.

  • It's a forum. It's meant for discussion. If people want to complain, this is the place.

For the rest, it's true that the mechanics must be revamped. But 'promoting' means jack in the grand scheme of things. Ask that to Hunters in Deathgarden. Oh wait... there aren't any left because they could care less about promoting a different playstyle, when they had a foolproof path to victory.

Camping is done to secure kills when pressuring gens is impossible. HOWEVER, the more slowdown you add, the more camping is rewarded. Not the other way around. Counterintuitive maybe, but that was exactly the Deathgarden experience. If the opposing team can't complete the objective when you make sure one of them is eliminated, then you have even less of a reason to deviate from the original plan.

Adding more slowdown will backfire if, concurrently, something isn't done to penalize camping. Penalize something directly, not promoting something else indirectly. Incentives that rely on a supposed 'player's kindness' are DoA. Nobody would leave the hook if they know gens can't be completed by the time they force a 3v1 and they can easily snowball off that. Did I mention Deathgarden by any chance? Oh, yes, I did. Because that's exactly how that game worked. Bhvr showed a lot of resistance on the topic by saying they didn't want to change anything, because they simply discouraged Hunters from forcing early kills since they would get fewer points. Look up the current player count to see if they had the right idea.

  • Nobody ever said that. You're making stuff up. Twins were literally trash tier and unplayable in the ptb. Pinhead has never been touted as anything but mediocre outside some select add ons.

  • You forgot Artist in S tier.

  • At what hours day/night did you play and what region and platform? Crossplay?

  • In the upcoming ptb. Addressed by adding another boon.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

So am I reading them right or wrong? Why cant we word them better, I swear I'm spending far too long trying to figure them out.

Like have my solve time addons been nerfed or buffed? Is it 1sec or is that 1 added to the previous 2seconds?

It says "increased by X sec". So, in theory it's a buff with added time.

  • @Myla said:

Yeah surprised how people just dropped him like that. Was expecting his Horder build would be at least be seen here and there. At this point I probably seen Twins more than pinhead this whole month and I only seen twin once.

He has a few oppressive builds. However, for the rest, his chains is very inconsistent and too dependent on the rng of extra chains spawning and not being instantly broken. His real power is the chain hunt, but I guess running the same build to just force a passive ability gets old kinda fast

  • There were a handful of patches to fine tune the flick max angle.

In the ptb it was 180 by stacking mouse and controller. That was patched and openly declared as unintended in the notes.

The flick was also accidentally overnerfed and later adjusted to 90°, which is the intended limit.

Everything beyond that is 100% unintended, simply because we know exactly what the intended cap is.

    Tl;dr: exploit, not tech.

  • It took them two years to finalize this system and they said delving deeper into nuances of gameplay would be too complicated.

Do you really expect them to be really willing to do anything other than tell us that the system is working great while releasing the next batch of overpriced recolored cosmetics?

  • "Killer mains shouldn't blame survivors for using dead hard, when they're abusing broken mechanics like tunneling."

  • Welcome to elo hell. Go in with a full meta build and play super safe at loops. Leave as soon as you open the gates. You might climb out of the hellhole.

If that fails, head over to dbd's discord, swf section and play in a full stack.

  • It's a meme build at best ever since sabo got nerfed. It's just clowns keeping themselves off gens. Who cares what they said, which you don't even show. And we don't know what you did either.

    Pointless thread.

  • You didn't deserve the hate in general or specifically for how you played.

And guess what? You didn't even deserve a mmr increase, which effectively went down despite playing well. 2 year of making for this system, btw.

  • 4-man premade.

  • It's not a secret that mobile gets it right.

Do we also Wanda talk about how bad her menu portrait is in the PC version?

  • The soloq mentality has been for ages to not care about escapes. I see a convergence between that and what the op says. Mmr finally made this community united. Hilarious.

  • I say Dead Hard only because who tf can seriously complain about DS in 2021?

  • 1 and 2 are too fuzzy to prove.

3 is bannable because it shows teaming intent and people have been banned for it..

4 is not bannable unless there's some circumstances that prove teaming, e.g. the person gets downed, the killer lets them wiggle out and then they sell their teammate out.

  • Egc wasn't implemented to give you extra pressure, but to avoid hostage situations.

Gate 99'ing is effectively a buff for killers. Before egc, survivors would simply open.

Using voice comms in a 3rd party program while grouped SWF is cheating. You're communicating the position of the Killer, coordinating everything, I mean, these are more powerful than any perk

The devs have openly stated that voice comms are allowed. You can go on DbD's official Discord and they hosting sections for people to swf together. Let it go.

  • I see what you're trying to test, but there's an intrinsic flaw in the methodology. Killers might have different incentives in snuffing out in a relightable Vs non-relightable boon scenario. That will skew the data.

  • No exhaustion might be interesting.

No slowdown would be very predictable on the outcome. Same for something like no BT/DS weekend.

It really wouldn't. No Bloodlust was very bad, but the game was still playable, give or take some near-infinites that could be heartily abussed. No exhaustion would make the game impossible. Infinite Dead Hard, infinite Sprint Burst. Infinite Head On if you want to be super cheeky and stunlock the killer for the whole game. There's nothing even to test here. The killer just flat out cannot catch anyone.

The no bloodlust weekend was bad only for the bloodlust gamers.

  • We really needed a killer's rulebook for survivors to compliment the survivor's rulebook for killers.

Basically, this community in a nutshell.

  • It's never been a thing. That whole narrative always came with the fine print. Playing 'fair' was fine as long as one was winning. The second a player lost a tiny bit if momentum and I bet you they'd facecamp their first-born child if that meant snatching the victory back.

Mmr just offered itself as a convenient scapegoat to justify losing the mask.

  • There's a visual bug where bp don't appear in the account when you're still in the tally screen. However, you should see you actually received your bp as soon as you back to the lobby.

  • Only by dying as survivor/not killing as killer.

Reset doesn't affect it. Neither does it decay.

    Wait, there's an event?

Wdym? They went all out, there's like a candle on some gens and hooks, bruh.

  • Considering that it literally doesn't measure skill, it might as well be visible.

It's a stat that is not indicative of player quality. It's just a way to make players have a 50% win rate.

  • I'll take Blight with me and we're gonna have the best pinball tournaments of the history of the Entity.

  • No. The indie company thing is an ongoing joke about bhvr. The r/whoosh, well, it was appropriate for the situation.

  • @ElusivePukka said:

They're not a small indie company by honest metrics, that's just the byline for people who don't pay attention. They're an established company with 800+ employees.

    /r/whoosh

  • Apparently, it's fixed by using stretched resolution. Hilarious.

  • @KerJuice said:

Inb4 “different teams do different things, you know that right?”

Different teams of a small indie company, to be precise.

  • I agree it's definitely Billy. However, I'm still not sure it's worth pushing for that kind of effort given the in-game reward. I do it only because curving is fun.

    @landromat said:

Blight has so many design issues/exploits player needs a lot of time to learn them all. Still exploits tho. Devs fix blight

I find Blight to be a lot overhyped in terms of skill requirements. Same as Huntress. Of course, they have a skill cap above more straightforward powers. But nothing that requires master's degree in quantum physics, as the mains seem to believe.

On the subject of the Blight 'techs', I don't think they're difficult at all. It's more a matter of knowing they exist.

    It's just imho, of course.

In terms of precision mouse control I’d say Nurse.

But in terms of strategic thinking and nuance Hag is up there. If you’ve watched Michi’s Hag guide for instance there’s a ridiculous amount of nuance over trap placement and uses at top level Hag. Using the camera to jerk survivors off a path they want to take, knowing when to teleport or not and good timing, planning traps to chain together, having broad awareness of where survivors all the time to anticipate teleports, etc. You can do ok with Hag just teleporting and placing them kind of haphazardly but that high skill play Michi does is crazy!

I've got a lot of respect for Michi. The guide has interesting info about the trigger mechanics of the traps. However, other than that, there's a lot of overthinking and overanalyzing. Hag ain't that deep, even at tournament level.

  • DC's are not reportable as they're handled exclusively through the timeout system.

    See: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest

  • "As a result of the upsurge of camping Bubbas as of late, we've decided to nerf the Cannibal. Oh, and Pig too."

  • @dugman said:

Minor technical point but killers don’t have an emote button on PC. Or do they not get a vote?

The killer would have an incentive to vote for continuing in a match where they have the advantage.

  • It's ok, but not on a 110 killer.

  • You want to exclude the black person from Bubba's collection because of... racism? Oh, the irony.
