I just don't cleanse plaything
Don't really care about being oblivious unless it's an indoor map or a map with a lot of LOS blockers
-
There was at least 1 circle in all of the many killer games I played yesterday
Guess people caught on that the nerfs still didn't change it being the best healing perk in the game
-
Don't take this as fact but i think when zombies are bugged out like this you can literally just run past them and they won't do anything
I had a zombie stand right next to a gen in shack like in your screenshot when I was being chased and I ran into them and nothing happened, they were completely bugged out.

When that happened they first got rid of Tru3 penalty then hackers did it again so BHVR just got rid of DC penalties for everyone.
Yeah I remember cheaters kept doing it so the devs kept disabling it for everyone until they fixed whatever exploit they were using
Pretty funny ngl.

The game is in a bad state when you have to hack to have fun.
This is the issue and what the hackers are most likely trying to demonstrate. DC penalty should be disabled for everyone, not a "privileged" few.
Stop justifying cheaters Sluzzy

Is it true that Fog Whispers get no DC penalty? I am pretty sure I have seen Otz have to wait one out after a crash, and I would think he would be the most obvious steamer to get a pass on them since he is the FW with the largest following.
It's a toggleable whitelist the devs have I believe
I think they disabled DC penalties for tru3 at one point as well because cheaters kept giving him 72 hour ones. At the very least devs can manually remove someone's DC penalty so this whitelist thing shouldn't really come as a surprise
Although, once again it goes to show BHVR doing the most bandaid possible fix to a problem
"Cheaters targetting content creators and streamers of our game? Let's just let the ones we care the most about DC". While I don't think it's their intention to leave non FW content creators to eat dirt, it doesn't seem like much else will happen for a while since anti-cheating measures are usually pushed with regular updates which takes time
-
As long as you never directly work with a surv to kill other survs then I doubt it's a problem
Many of us let the last surv go and nobody's ever said it was against the rules so, yeah
If the match plays out normally and you let a survivor you like go, it's not considered griefing or anything bc the match is over by that point.

As an overall mechanic? No.
But I do think there are a few individual Hex Perks that need buffs to justify their Hex status - IMO the ideal Hex Perk is Devour Hope and every other Hex (that isn't a trap) should be around its level of strength.
I think one thing a lot of people tend to forget with Hexes is, that they are supposed to be high risk - high reward Perks. They are inconsistent and that is by design - a Hex being cleansed early on sucks for the Killer, but that is part of said risk. Therefore you also get games where the Hex stays active for long periodes of time and has an immense effect on the trial.
Though they should definitely improve some of the Totemspots on older maps. I'm not saying make it impossible to find them (something like Lerys is a bit excessive), but at least put them in places that require Survivors to go out of their way to look for them and not just happen to spot them while normally traversing the map / looking around while working on a generator.
Devour and Haunted Ground aside
All other traditional (aka lit at the start) hex perk is high risk low reward
Like even Blood Favour if you think about it, blocking pallets is useful to a point but those pallets will still be there later on when you could've got rid of them you know?
-
I don't main any particular role
You don't need to project intentions onto me I'm just giving my opinion, if you can't take someone not agreeing with you without needing to get the label brush out maybe don't post on a public forum js
For the record I've played more surv than killer this patch, I think the tiles are fine and macmillan is a more balanced realm as a result. Feel free to disagree if you want, it's not an objective scientifically proven fact.
-
@Roaroftime said:
they're just another way survivors got nerfed because destroying every anti tunnel perk, increasing gen times and buffing all aspects of killer weren't enough, the tiles are awful and most of the time it's just dead space
They took tiles from realms like Autohaven, Yamaoka and Ormond and added them into a realm that had little variety
That's not a survivor nerf. Learn how to run the tiles
Personally sick of the same Jungle Gym/L Wall T wall/Pallet gym variations, so boring.
-
The Hex mechanic itself could do with some tweaking
Have you noticed the only hex perks people typically use are perks that basically aren't traditional hex perks?
NOED, Haunted Ground, Plaything and Pentimento are the main 4. Devour is #1 traditional hex perk for sure though
The others pale in comparison:
- Retribution is pretty good combo'd with others, on it's own it's meh
- Undying is fine with haunted, devour or pentimento, not much else imo
- Ruin isn't worth it anymore
- Third Seal is only used for slugging solo Q people to death
- Crowd Control is laughable
- Blood Favour is serviceable but it's counterplay will likely make the game harder for you (Pre-dropping or relying on strong windows)
- Lullaby is ok but I mean, it's usually gone in the first 5s of the game
- Thrill for if you REALLY hate boons
-
Yeah it does
The recent buff to killer hit cooldown is also applied while carrying too
-
Hopefully a sign of things to come
Map design/tiles are a balance nightmare rn and I think this has helped somewhat. Macmillan used to only spawn pallet gyms, jungle gyms or L wall T walls in many maps (Which either made things incredibly surv sided or killer sided)
Example: Shelter woods
You could sometimes have no jungle gyms and nothing but L wall T walls
or basically only jungle gyms/pallet gyms
Now it can have more variety and it seems to balance out more often

Maybe it's because I tend to play killer a bit more than survivor, but I can't say I experience it all that much from killers.
If I was even keeping track, I could probably count all the killers who have DCed against me in the past year on one hand.
Survivors however, have learned to use the DC as a 'weapon' in a way that killers simply don't need to. Killers can just decide to camp, or open the exit gates themselves, or go into farming mode, etc.
Just a difference in our matches I'm sure. Everyone has diff matches
Idk why but it seems lately in about... I want to say maybe 2 in 10 matches the killer will give up or DC. Even if the game's not over for them at that point.
Also fun fact the killers who I see DC the most are Hags and Demos. Not sure why, but it's something I noticed over my time.

Survivors have a terrible "I don't want to play this game" problem, that I haven't seen this bad anywhere else.
Killer I don't like? DC
Map I don't like? DC
Got injured first? DC
Ran every meta perk, Gideon map offering, four flashlights, teabagged at the exit but still got downed and hooked? DC
What are you classing as "deeply irritating" that it warrants screwing over 3 other players and sitting out for 5 minutes for the sake of saving up to 30 or 60 seconds? I'm willing it bet it's nowhere near irritating enough to warrant that.
Survivors need to realise that DCing when there's something you "don't like" is the equivalent of throwing the monopoly board across the room when you land in Jail and storming off in a huff.
It's not a survivor only problem tho, I've had a lot of Killers DC lately as well
One of them DCed at 3 gens and whinged in the EGC about genrush despite both gens being done quite a time apart.
Survs just make up the bulk of it due to ratios and such
Like a killer DCing is an instant win so I'm not complaining about it but it's anticlimatic to make a good play in chase and the killer goes "im done lol" and pulls the plug.

I'm all for disincentiving disconnecting during perfectly normal games, as it is disrespectful for the other players and especially lethal for teammates, but there are circonstances that would make these restrictions really harsh.
What about hacker games ? There seems to be quite a lot of games taken hostages these days.
Or toxic players actively trying to make you DC. (ran into one, would not recommend)
Or successive connection failures (not only talking about internet failures, but a lot of people are experiencing glitches where they are disconnected from games or lobbies despite having a correct connection)
So I think we should tread lightly on the subject of DC penalties, as they could be felt as very unfair depending on the circonstances.
Yeah you're right abt ppl going out of their way to make survs DC
Facecamping Bubba prime example
Or bleed-out slugging with killers like Doc, Nurse, Clown and so on
DCing is a big problem overall but players who do what I listed above have no right to really complain about it imo. DCing robs them of their time-waste satisfaction lmao.

I actually laughed when Otz said avoiding lightburn as Wraith is basically what the whole of VHS (the game) is like
He was totally right
I don't necessarily mind small interactions like this but it's not like he needs it to be fair or balanced. Stunning him out of cloak having an increased stun is already kinda unneeded as well.
-
Are these survivor mains in the room with us right now?
-
Blight can max out deviousness every single game, he gets so many points
Demo too, 1 shred hit is 800 bp

No it's just bugged p sure

Ah, I missed that.
However, I don't think MoM is supposed to work like that. You gain endurance AFTER the hit, so he should've went down still.
Yeah what used to happen was you'd go down and then when you got back up/were rescued you'd have MoM active to block a single hit.
Not sure what's changed but I know this endurance countering exposed thing has been in the game for a long time because over the years I've seen people be unhooked with BT and Adrenaline and then the Killer would hit them with NOED or something similar and they'd tank the hit
I think it's (kinda?) an intended interaction but it's so weird how the endurance is consumed immediately here.

It's bread.
-
I think there might be a logical explanation for this
In the clip, the streamer is exposed right?
Endurance protects you from insta-downs, even if you are healthy
So what's happening (I guess obviously) is:
1) The game registers protection hit and activates MoM
2) The game detects that the person being hit is exposed
3) The endurance hit activates because otherwise the streamer would be insta-downed and the perk wouldn't trigger
So basically, this wasn't a premature MoM, this was endurance proccing to protect someone from being instantly downed.

Fair
I thought you were trying to make some kind of point using sarcasm 🤔
-
I have tested my theory
If you are healed while MoM is active, you keep the endurance which also means you lose it when you perform a conspicious action
The perk doesn't seem super bad though, I think it can have some clutch applications around hook saves
-
I guess the counterplay to Nurse is
"Be a 4 man SWF with tournament level communication, good perks and thousands of hours"
Listen whatever sarcastic point you think you're making with this post, it isn't gonna work.
-
@GoshJosh said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3108323#Comment_3108323
Seems it would still be active, since you didn’t perform a conspicuous action.
But what if I do conspicious actions while healthy?
Current MoM only gives you endurance when you're injured, I'm wondering if the endurance is permanently there even if healthy or if it's only 'active' when injured.
Gonna see if I can test this tomorrow bc if you can do conspicious actions while healthy with MOM active in the backpocket then that's kinda crazy? That's 3 health states and you can progress the game without losing it
I don't think it's gonna work like that though
-
Here's an important Q though
If I have MoM active but I'm healed to healthy via a teammate/other perk that doesn't count as a conspicious action, do I still keep it even if I do conspicious actions while healthy?
Or will you have endurance even when healthy like when you're unhooked with BT + Adrenaline?
-
Well her name is Lisa Sherwood
Not that far off!
-
The main application that comes to my mind is bodyblocking someone trying to tunnel a teammate
Not exactly the most ideal of scenarios but it might help?

The combo itself doesn't bother me
What bothers me is that they brought it back not for balance reasons but technical ones
It makes 0 sense

it's the justification for one of them

I wish more killers used aura reading meta, out of all the games I played only 2 killers were running aura reading builds a death slinger with a full retribution hex build, and a Ghostface with Nurses Calling. Everyone is still distracted with the new regression perks when I just wanna get more distortion value lol.
From my experience, I face a lot of Nurse/Blights using aura perks so I get mad value from it
Sometimes midchase too, someone once procced floods of rage while I had distortion. Nurse had no clue what happened
-
Earlier this month, we launched our largest balance patch to date, making changes to 40 perks- including the meta- and various base game mechanics. With such a major shake-up, we have been keeping an extra close eye on feedback and performance since the update released to ensure that nothing gets out of hand. Now that…
There you are my fellow forum goer

Maybe just part of me thinks when I get value from it like maybe simply denying screams or successfully escaping I make it seem like the perk did all the work, but I probably could have escaped without it who knows. Though I definitely agree the penality was bad, I managed to stealth cleanse a hex totem my first match of using it because the killer just walked past because he didn't hear the sounds of cleansing. So maybe that's why I now have it in my head this perk is brilliant.
Don't let me put a damper on ur perk choices
I'm just very opinionated on what I think an impactful perk is
Trust me there's some niche perks I'm practically married to like Renewal for example, I swear by it even tho I have many games where I never get to use it.

As someone who routinely finds survivors well beyond LOS because of crows, I can tell you calm spirit isn't that bad. Not screaming is also super clutch depending on the killer. It saves you from the scariest killers in the game, arguably, since they are more likely to have infectious fright.
Iron will nerf was huge. Since spine chill got gutted, most survivors are relying on sprint burst which makes IW useless. No exhaustion perk + no spine chill sets you up for some completely uncounterable instadowns from things like Tinkerer Bubba
Yeah that's the thing though
As surv it's rlly hard to notice if crows are what gave you away, so even if calm spirit saved you in a situation - it'd be hard to tell.
And as someone who used to run calm spirit to counter IF Nurse, they don't need IF anymore when floods of rage is a thing. Aura reading is just too good in the current game.
-

I will die on the hill that calm spirit is a good perk just underappreciated, it really became one of my favorite perks to run I'm not even joking, but maybe I'm just crazy I have no idea anymore. Seems like this is a bit of an unpopular opinion and I have no idea how to convince anyone it's a good perk lol.
Oh no you're entitled to your opinion abt the perk, I don't hate it
I just don't think it does anything significant enough to run. The fact they had to justify giving it another effect by tacking on a speed penalty is just silly
-
@Mewishis said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3107826#Comment_3107826
It's not useless, that's like saying distortion is useless, just because the effect that it gives isn't useful all the time doesn't make it useless its useful in its own ways and some games you can effectively win them with it.
Not disturbing crows is a decent effect, granted but it very rarely comes into play and you'd never know if it did
Not screaming is... Okay? Helps counter a handful of killer perks and one specific killer's tracking power. Still not very significant on it's own
And silent chest opening/totem interactions, sure. Why penalise you for using it then?
At least Distortion tells you what addons/perks the killer has (or doesn't have). Even if Distortion doesn't trigger it gives you security in knowing the killer has no aura perks which is far more useful than all 3 of Calm Spirits effects combined imho.
-
They buffed a borderline useless perk by adding an another extremely niche utility to it
an extremely niche utility that punishes you for using it
???????
I don't get it

Finally, someone that understands how easily counterable old PR/DMS was
I was saying similar stuff when PR/DMS was being complained about months ago
It was never that bad for people who recognised it was in play
But less experienced people probably don't know what pain res/DMS is/does so often I'd have teammates who'd get hit with it multiple times and it was frustrating, so I get why people dislike it
Far from uncounterable though.
The only problem I had with it was ranged killers like Artist using it for camping but with it being 30s that's not as good of an idea as before.
-
I was never scared of this combo because it takes 2 seconds to let go of a gen before a hook
I even kept doing it on this patch out of muscle memory so nothing has changed for me
I worry for my teammates though since PR/DMS hurts players with less experience a lot
