OTR and DH are related to endurance, so it doesn't protect you against hard tunneling, the situation you need them the most, because the killer will just swing at you during the BT timer.
DS is way to situational for an 1 time use perk, the 3 s nerf makes it only effective against certain killers and on certain tiles.
Since anti tunnel perks are so weak, you are better just stickig to gens and rush the objective and try and delay the first downs of a killer.
Killer tunels a survivor out but the rest can escape.
-
I mean, good for you if it makes you happy.
SM can get all the free wins as long as i get out of the match instantly as soon as i see a drone.
-
Honestly, after 2 dumpster fires.
I would take a boring chapter like roots of dredge. Just don't be as bad as tools of torment and forged in fog

3 minutes for the first one. 2 people DC'd as soon as they saw Drones on gens.
35 minutes on the second game. Everyone just started giving up eventually.
Around 50 minutes on the last one.
Yikes. How long will this still be a thing?
I am just happy she isn't super popular.
I can have fun even with the tunneling and camping, but SM with those games just breaks my energy to play the game.
They can get the free win, i just want to get out of their match the fast as possible, by any means necessary.
-
You just have to accept the RNG in Exit gates.
What would you do in Midwitch? Those are fixed and it's basically impossible to escape on those gates because they are so close to each other, any killer can patrol those gates very easly.

Im sure its not a bug. During a portion of the vault, Wesker can grab you.
During another portion of the vault, Wesker bounces back off of the window, doesnt hit, doesnt grab, nor does he vault.
Fair trade. In fact, you could argue its worse for Wesker.
Nope, you should get hit, not grabbed.
By gettig grabbed you loose distance because you need to vault again, and that window now has two vaults instead of one and will block sooner.
Also, this didn't use to happen. Wesker has always had weird interactions especially with lag. But this is new or atleast recent.

Yeah, they you should probably go into detail about what's bad about her current design and how your solve it and how Killers/ Survivors will be more happy about your ideas?
Ok, i feel like her design just promotes holding down an area to waste resouces and stop progress like she is a cop.
But her lore talks more of a hunter/stalker. So i think that making her more stealthy with the drones being actually used to surprise and ambush survivors instead of being game delay and force you to leave a loop tool would make her more interesting for both killer and survivor.
What exact changes i would do, idk it would be a big rework, i can certainly think of a few things, but if people don't like the basic idea of stealthy drones to encourage a hunter type of gameplay, then why should i start going into more complicated stuff.
Stealthy killers are popular, Ghostface and Wraith are very pouplar despite them not being good at high level and since her current playstyle of holding down an area just makes everyone angry, survivors hate her for extending games and killers hate her because she feels weak in chase, then why not change it to this new idea that even seems to complement more her lore.
Again, if they don't do anything to her, i don't care. But if there is a way to make her more accepted by both killers and survivors i think it would be nice.
If not, well i hope SM like having constant DCs against them, because that is the most common thing i see. And i don't blame them, i also feel very tempted when i see those drones flying around.
-
You don't have to activate the perk. You just need to self heal twice.
I did it first try. Never even got the perk to activate because i only got hooked once.
Take a med-kit and Inner healing, that's what i did.

@Emeal said:
Thats okay, not all Killers has to be for you, you know. Im not a fan of Blight or Billy, but I would not want them to change them if there are loads of people people enjoying them.
also, How do we get from "The Killer is obnoxious" to "Therefore we need to change the Killer right now" seems like there are some steps missing. Like your argument in this thread seems to be, Hey this killer's play style does not fit its Lore, so change it pls.
I just think the concept is more healthy for the game. Honestly if bhvr doesn't want to rework her i don't give a f. She can stay the way she is. I just think it would be more intersting and healthy for the game, thats all.
-
Probably a lack of new cosmetics, maybe some people unconfortable with him being gay, he is big and loud, new male characters that are popular, most survivors play female survivors because they are smaller for stealth and generally make less noises.
I used to play David, but then switched to Jeff after i got some cool cosmetics for him

@Gandor said:
I like the idea. Remove visible area, make those drones smaller, if you are within the area, your aura is visible (at all times) - making her very good surveillance killer. Make drones area a bit larger and make her still loose TR once inside it. Allow drones to be placed anywhere (with exception to extra narrow passages - like pls don't let he bodyblock basement with her drone) - or fully anywhere if they loose collision.
Now this is a good bases for a killer. She would still need something small extra, because at this point she is just conditionally silent M1 killer with bit more info - maybe some kind of teleport between drones could work, or make he be able to mount drones (that are in the air for some time) for extra movement speed boost (0-10% for say 20s depending on how long the drone was in the air without survivors hacking it could do the trick - the idea is for her to be able to take advantage of well-hidden drones), but there might possibly be other better ideas how to buff her a little bit extra.
But this concept starts to be close to ideal (also hacking drones would now have much less value, so maybe remove SM speed boost once hacked - drones should now be well hidden, so we can consider hacking drones as a reward for finding it).
This would immediately change her from 3gen camping boring killer into stealth-speedy chaser (which IMO works better with lore too)
Yeah, again, she will need a lot of changes. But i do think this would make more sense with her lore. Because right now with the drones being a disco party, it makes no sense for people to not realize that they are in danger and being stalked.
Like, can't you see the huge light show in sky across the map, how the hell is she caughting people of guard. I would immeadiatly call the police.
I would be very curious to ideas and more changes to her with this idea of stealthy drones in mind.
Right now she feels like a policewoman protecting gens and restricting progress instead of the stealthy hunter/tracker that i guess was the objective.
Pls bhvr, try this change of concept. The current version is not good for anyone, and no number tweaks will save it. Pls try this concept.
-
Like, i get it Jeff is a Metalhead, but he doesn't need 50% of his skins to be metal themed. Especially if they aren't doing anything new with the concept.
-
I would rather be face camped by a bubba 10 games in a row then play against a single SM.
I hate that this character really makes me want to DC as soon as the Hud appears.

That is not a challenge, thats just her existing.

Is this perk unique like this? The aura being a literal aura around the killer is pretty powerful, is this on any other perk? Genuinely curious.
This perk seems pretty damn amazing tbh. Gonna try it on Trapper!
The perk is good, especially if you have other perk for kicking gens like Eruption.
Besides this, there is Nurse's calling, Awakaned awareness, but those require certain conditions. Some killers have add-ons like Wraith, Bubba and Pig. Besides that, i don't think there is.
It's probably the most powerfull aura perk in game right now for killer.
-
@ehe said:
Its a completely fine perk. If a killers actually bothering to kick gens then thats one warning already. And of course if they just immediately find you after a kick, you know they have it. Once you know its there all you need to do is pre run man, 4m/s = 6 seconds to get out of gens 24m radius. Not to mention the kick takes half that time. Dealing with this perk shouldnt be a struggle.
My problem is that the aura range follows the killer. So in the duration the perk activates, especially if the killer has mobility you can get caught by this perk while never being close to the gen to see the killer kick it.
If the aura of 24m was in reference to the kicked gen i would agree with. But it doesn't work like that.

This game has around 120 survivor perks and around 230 in total. Why there is no place for meme builds and everything seems to need an effective effect?
Meme builds are fine, but perks that intentionally make you worst on the team based role is kinda ######### for everyone else.
Meme perks are fine, but they shouldn't make you worst. Diception and Red Herring are meme perks, but you don't have anything bad for bringing them, besides just having a bad build.

The point is more so that you can't realistically confirm that you aura was revealed - without Distortion, at least - not so much that you don't know when it could happen. Yes, you'd know when they've activated if they're running them, but you don't know if they're running them. You can't reasonably play around every possible aura reading perk just in case the Killer has it, otherwise you'd spend the majority of the match in a locker, so it's always safest to assume that they can/could see you.
You've already listed five, but then there's also Awakened Awareness, Darkness Revealed, Gearhead, and I'm All Ears to name a few. That doesn't even begin to include perks that reveal locations & perks that show the aura of the objects you may be interacting with (e.g. Discordance, Surveillance).
Nowadays, there's so many ways for the Killer to know where you are that you can't realistically say for sure (barring cases where you can identify their entire build) when they can and can't see you, and hiding just in case one of those perks activated is out of the question.
I do see the point that you are making and can even agree with some of the points. But i still don't think it is fair for the aura reveal to not be the area of the gen so it is easier to tell what might be happening and not be so abusable on high mobility killers.
Also some of the perks that you you brought don't feel as unfair.
Awakened has a small range and the killer needs to be carrying a survivor, it is very clear when it is active.
Discordance, is very easy to guess when cooping on gens.
Gearhead you are working on gens, you are more aware of danger and the killer might need to either slug or drop a chase to do it, so you know something is wrong.
I am all ears, most of the time you are in chase and the perk has a cooldown which NTH doesn't.
I wasn't saying that the perk needs a warning, but feels unfair getting caught by it when you weren't close the gen being kicked to know that could be active.
-
@Peanits said:
Other folks have beat me to it, but most aura reading perks do not have a clear tell when they activate. That said, Distortion can prevent your aura from being revealed. If you want to take it a step further, you could even use Alert to see when the Killer is kicking a generator and get the upper hand. While it alone won't stop the Killer from seeing you, it will let you know if they're heading your way.
I would not agree with that. Even if you don't know when they are in play you know when they activate:
Letal- Beginning of the match
BBQ- After hooking
Floods of rage- After unhooking
Nurses's calling- Healing near the killer
Bitter murmur- Completing a gen.
These perks have easy to track tells. NWH also has it, if you saw the killer kick a gen, but because the aura moves with the killer, killers with high movement get a way bigger area of aura and you can get caught while not knowing that the killer has that advantage, because you were never close to the gen to begin.
I agree that survivors have perks to help them for this situation, i just wanted to explain why i didn't feel that it was fair.
-
I don't like hit and run because i like to be chased after being found or making the killer loose me.
Having the killer say hi and leaving immeadiatly gets really boring. Thats probably the reason why i hate going against legion even more than the mending.

Because thats the range you can possibly get with NTH and its range and duration.

@CaulDrohn said:
It's the same with darkness revealed, that will also trigger without you knowing. That's just the nature of aura perks, you might not expect being seen. But imo there should not be any info that the perk is present. It's part of the skillset as a survivor to recognize or rule out such "silent" perks. The killer has to do the same, and they may have to deal with stacked gen speed perks, which also are not recognizable apart from gens being done faster than normal. I find that quite similar.
If it really bothers you that much, bring Distortion like you already wrote. That may be a dead perk though if the killer does not have any aura effects (although then you will know which perks a killer does NOT run, which can be just as valuable as knowing the perks a killer runs). Alternatively, you could bring Alert, so you know when and where (if not undetectable) a killer kicks something, so you can be "alert" for NTH. Fearmonger will be your nemesis, though.
Last but not least, you could bring Object, which will tell you when the killer sees you, making you see them. Although you have to deal with them seeing you every 30s, except when you are not the obsession.
I know that i can do things to avoid it. Just feels cheap because i feel like the perk should puish survivors that try to hide next to a gen, but i wasn't remotly close or aware that the killer kicked a gen. It's more in my head that feels unfair.
But yeah, i would bring distortion. But i prefer to use distortion with friends so i can atleast call out the killer's aura abilities and not feel so selfish. That is my prefered way to use distortion, calling out the killer's perks to my friends so we can play better.
In solo sometimes feels like a perk to promote tunneling or camping for the rest of the team

Just show what perks each survivor has between them.
Wouldn't that fix everything?
It wouldn't make SWF better, they already know...
I think some of this perks need the info in game to be usefull. Coordenation that can only come from SWF and in solo queue is impossible.
Just having the loadouts revealed wouldn't solve all their issues
-
You need to turbo destroy the 3 gen, so SWF and perks like Deja vu and Prove can help. Also remember that when the drones are inactive they can't spot you through walls, this way you can work on a gen and not disable the drone. So you need to turbo out important gens that are close and only remove drones if they are really necessary. Also remember to never leave the drone while you are hacking it because you get exposed, just take the hit and use the speed boost to leave if she ambushes you.
But honestly there is no satisfaction from this so honestly i just decide that the killer can get a free win so i get to the next game.
Thankfully SM isn't very popular, but she is the worst in terms of fun to face.
Again, you can do things to make it possible and win, but i will gladly loose so i can get out that match faster and face a more fun killer
-
Nope, it's the only killer that makes me want to kill myself on first hook.
I am fine with nurse, blight, spirit, bubba camping, tunneling. But camping gens and extending matches for 2 hours while not being even fun in chase.
Yeah, get the free win, i just want to go for other match
-
Depends on the killer for me. If i use mainly M1s Sloppy, consistency is king for me.
If i don't use M1s to much gift of Pain is a nice perk, but i don't usually go for it.

SM is the only killer that is just so boring to go against i prefer to kill myself rather than keep playing.

I would argue that this is the problem that gen slowdown doesn't have a counter on the survivor side, except gen rushing.
I don't think either side should be able to run a full build of something, really dedicate themselves to one style without facing a possibility of a counter.
So my problem is that gen slowdown, especially the gen kick perks were way too safe, but they are thankfully getting nerfed and go back to regression needing to be earned again, i hope.

Please remember that this is only a PTB and not all of these changes might make it into the live build. We're testing things on this PTB and things can definitely change before they go Live.
Most PTBs were just publicity for what comes live in a few weeks.
The only PTB that didn't make it was the one devs said wasn't going to go live and was design to test. (The base kit Unbreakable/Mori)
Besides that one, almost all the time, changes in the PTB come to live even when there is plenty of feedback against them.
So it is hard to believe the devs can make this update enjoyable when so much has changed, a lot of it is controversial and base mechanics that have a ton of implications and interactions that are very hard to get right and test on a environment like the PTB.
So i guess it's kinda hard to be optimistic about this update in general.

It’s adding the potential of a meta shift, that encourages chasing survivors instead of defending an area.
Of course there are parts of this plan that I don’t like. I currently use a lot of gen kick regression perks. I used to use eruption before it’s nerf, and that nerf felt really bad. I currently use the other gen kicking regression perks, and it feels really bad those are going away too. But I’m trying to look at the big plan, where changes are happening to both sides, to try to create a healthier meta.
Yes, we get a lot of survivors saying that if the full altruistic healing nerfs happen, that survivors will refuse to heal. But why aren’t we ever talking about the other role? Why aren’t we also saying that if the full altruistic healing nerfs don’t happen, that killers will refuse to chase survivors when they have a 3 gen? We know a bunch of killers are currently doing this, where they prioritize their 3 gen, and it’s a reasonable question to wonder if killers will still do this, if survivors don’t get the full healing speed nerfs.
I think that the healing nerfs will do the opposite.
Makes 3 gens, camping and tunneling way easier to do. You can say that hit and run will be buffed and killers will have more reason to chase.
But i see the healing nerfs making those strategies i said before way more easy to do and win.
Survivors waste more time if they need to protect someone being tunneled, survivors waste 48s to heal themselves and rescue a survivor getting facecamped.
Survivors will waste more time healing or need to try and do the 3 gens injured.
So, i don't believe the heal changes for the altruism was fair. And that the negative consequences and ramifications where well thought out.
So, yes. Maybe hit/run and chasing survivors will be more viable. But look of what chaos can also occur.
And again. I was talking more in terms of fun and excitement for the patch, not even talking about balance or health of the game

DH is one of the reasons why killers don’t value chases as much as they should. If a killer has a 3-gen, and sees a survivor that immediately tried to run across the map, then it seems like a giant waste to time to chase them, when the killer might need to go through 3 full health states. It doesn’t help that all healing speeds are way too fast, and injuries don’t feel like they matter.
If the DH nerf, and all the healing speed needs happen, then we should be in a much healthier meta, where chases feel like they are valuable, and injuries feel like they matter.
This shouldn’t be a negotiation phase, where people try to get nerfs reverted because they don’t want their side to be nerfed. We should be actually trying out this meta for a few months, so we can see where it settles. I’m so tired of this healing meta, where it feels like it’s a much better game decision to defend an area than it is to chase survivors.
I am happy that you feel excited.
But i don't. I see the patch and only see nerfs to fun options, the removal of fun interactions and a bigger focus on objectives.
You are free to like it and maybe it will be an healthier game, i doubt because of the altruism healing speed. But even if it is, the first impression is terribly bad for me. Why should i be excited for an update that removes stuff and doesn't add anything.
I have seen this trend in other games, where they remove options and tools in updates or sequels. Again, maybe the game will be better, but there is no way to advertise it for me to be excited. I am just wondering if i will still find the game fun or if we enter a new meta that we all hate and with less fun tools and options to use, maybe have less incentive to keep going and just give up.
-
Pharmacy, probably will be even less popular.
Now that the green med kit got nerfed.
Niche perk gets weaker.
-
It's not dead at all. It will probably be B tier perk.
But it will stop being used by most people that will jump to lithe and SB.
-
@Peanits said:
If you only buff weaker perks, you end up with power creep. Each perk needs to be better than the last in order to dethrone the meta, and so over time perks would become stronger and stronger. Eventually you'd reach a point where perks are ridiculously strong and have far too much impact on a match, making skillful play less important than the perks you brought.
Even beyond that, this simply is not feasible. There's 228 perks in the game. Even if we assume that 50 are in a really good spot (already meta in this case) and don't need any changes whatsoever, that's over 170 perk updates that need to be done just to balance things.
Instead, we do a bit of both. Most perks are already in a decent spot and see a good amount of use, but there's a few outliers that either don't get used enough or are used way too much. Bringing the top few down and some of the bottom few up is a lot more manageable. You pretty much answered yourself with your example. With Dead Hard being weaker, suddenly there's a lot more reason to bust out Lithe, Sprint Burst, or another exhaustion perk instead.
Still this update was more focused around nerfs and we had next to no buffs. So of course that feels bad, feels like the devs took away fun and didn't add anything to replace.
Besides i think most people agreed that PR was in a good spot balance wise as it encouraged chases by the killers and rewards regression by progressing the game.
While DH was annoying for killers, it also rewarded gameplay that most survivors consider fun. Taking chases and prolonging chases with the killer. While all other exhaustion have more focus on getting away from a chase.
While i agree that you can't just buff everything because of power creep. If the strong parts of the game are things people find enjoyable, i don't see a reason to nerf them to create variety.
-
@Pulsar said:
I'm mostly okay with the nerf to PR. I like that it encourages hooking different Survivors instead of tunneling. However, I feel that the effect no longer warrants it being a Scourge Hook perk. It should be changed to simply be a token-based perk, without the extra pre-requisite of finding a Scourge Hook. This will make the perk more consistent and will continue to encourage going after new people.
If BHVR is insistent on keeping it a Scourge Hook, remove the token-based system and have it activate whenever a fresh Survivor is hooked. This, once again, encourages going after new Survivors instead of tunneling out one in particular.
The point is that PR cannot have both a token-based pre-requisite and an RNG-based pre-requisite.
Next up is Dead Hard. I'm less okay with the nerf to DH. I think adding an activation condition is fine, but having it be a Safe Unhook leaves a lot to be desired. I like that the perk will, hypothetically, be available when Survivors need it the most, during the mid to late game. However, the activation condition being Safe Unhooks presents issues.
This perk MASSIVELY encourages camping and tunneling. It punishes Killers who play nicely. It also pits Survivors against each other in a competition for safe unhooks.
In order to both de-incentivize camping and tunneling, as well as unhook fighting, Dead Hard should be activated upon taking a Protection Hit for another injured Survivor. This incentivizes Survivor teamwork, Killer-Survivor interaction, pulls Survivors off of gens, gives the Killer pressure by injuring another Survivor AND is thematically accurate to David's character while still preventing DH from being used during the early-game.
Thoughts on these changes?
I was ok with both perks. They were popular but not broken and encouraged fun gameplay. Survivors get to extend chases which is fun for the survivor and PR rewards killers with regression after a hook which is fun for the killer.
They feel like nerfs because of popularity and outrage more than deserved nerfs.
But i hate so many other changes in the update that DH and PR are low on my priority of things that i don't like about the patch.

Dude, a legion main just posted a tactic for legion by camping a person on first hook and survivors can't do anything on that new update.
Use the add-on that makes people broken, if you get a 5 hit feral. That person is dead.
Survivors literally cannot heal themselves in time to go rescue that survivor after the broken status is over.
I am telling you this healing change has massive consequences. I don't care if you think i am just being a butt hurt survivor.
This has way bigger consequences than you think. This is a basic mechanic they are changing and a lot of other mechanics and interactions change drastically because of it.
So stop saying things like 8s won't be that different. Well imagine if in the next update killers take 0.5s longer to break pallets and vault, won't you think those 0.5s will matter a lot?

For med-kits is 8.
For altruism is 16.

I dont think CoH is the only factor in the downfall of hit and run, it was hard enough before CoH.
Two survivors healing each other is a lot of pressure for the killer and that was meta before CoH
Not really cause most of the time those two same Survivors find a Gen and pop that in less than a min.
Dude, i am sorry but it will create a ton of other problems.
Altruism already gives killers 2 survivors occupied, killers have sloppy to help even more with the hit and run, that with med kits nerf would make it stronger.
Besides, this change would buff camping and tunneling.
Taking hits and bodyblocking will be more punishing in order to protect someone being tunneled.
And if some killer is camping, you take 48s to heal in order to save that survivor safely, 60s with sloppy.
Med-kits were a big advantage over altruism. But making med kits 24s and altruism 48 just makes altruism dead. In most situations it will be better to play injured all match and gen rush objectives or just bring med-kits and auto-heals, because altruism is nerfed way harder then med-kits.
Basically, when people complained about med-kits being to strong. This change made med-kits more necessary then before because of the nerf to altruism.
I hope this explains why i believe altruism shouldn't be nerfed.
