  • I think one of the biggest issues is when someone decides to main a side. When you play both equally you know how crappy it feels when you, or a friend gets tunneled and camped for no good reason. Even if the killer loses, that person just had a really crappy game, and half the time the just do gens strat just ends in NOED, meaning the killer still usually gets an extra kill or two.

Alternatively, you can know how frustrating it can be to be looped, and teabagged by a survivor who's been annoying you all game (Usually this gets less frustrating the better you get)

As killer I try not to tunnel or camp, and as survivor I don't try to bother the killer all game for no good reason. Also as stated plenty of times red ranks don't really mean anything anymore. Most of them are pretty bad, I've also had the reverse where the match making has given me green ranked survivors when I'm red rank as killer. How do you even know who you are going against to just automatically be a dick to them? Killers talking about how toxic survivors are, and we got this guy...

  • lol Yes give me extra blood points, and shards every match. I ain't scared of no SWF! What are they gonna do against the almighty powa that is my boy Michael Myers!

  • I kind of feel like Myers counters Freddy a little bit too hard for him to ever have a chance against him. I mean...no one even knows what Myers is thinking, and hasn't shown fear to anything really. So Freddy wouldn't know what makes him afraid, so he couldn't hurt him.

However I'm not sure if that would make Myers win. Oni is a really big guy who is really strong. He is probably Michael's biggest competition. Leatherface would probably get killed by Myers before he ever knew what was going on. He is a big guy, but he is pretty stupid, and is a normal human.

So my toss up is between Oni, and Myers.

Gen speed is not something that should be based on how strong a killer is lol. Very fun gameplay having 100s+ gens because you're playing against a clown.

I mentioned the times in my post. I said 80 seconds is the fastest (Current speed) and it increases by 5 seconds per tier. At maximum I'd only boost it to 90 seconds. Which would account for about how long it would take for poor clown to reload his bottle and maybe walk over to survivors to stop them from powering through it. lol But no not 100+ seconds that's over kill.

  • I feel like most killers are nice to my Ash...for the most part. Now Laurie...they hate her and will do everything in their power to land a Decisive Strike...ending my whole Career....if I let them!

  • As survivor it's about the same, win some, lose some. I kind of feel like sometimes it was easier with Ruin, because killers tend to be a bit more I don't know brutal? More Campy, tunnely. Also they actually have another perk that annoys me like Pop Goes the Weasel. Which can get frustrating when teammates don't stop going down. Instead of Ruin that I either worked through, or it got destroyed in 30 seconds. Though some times Ruin completely shut down the team for some reason. When it couldn't be found, and for some reason no one did gens with it up. So that issue is gone.

As Killer, I got 3-4k before in the majority of games before, and I still get 3-4k in the majority of my games now. My strategy has always been spread the pain. Very rarely do I tunnel, or camp. I just play smart, and think like a survivor would think in the middle of chases. I punish altruistic teams by paying attention to my surroundings. While leaving, and going to the hook I'm pretty good at protecting my gens as well, I'll give up chases I think will waste too much time. And I also will slug, if the need calls for it. I've never saw it as toxic, it's just my way of stopping them from doing gens while I chase someone else.

I play as Myers the Majority of games. Using Pop/BBQ/Monitor/Nurses. My preferred add-ons are Dead Rabbit, and M. Myers Memorial.

  • Personally instead of just Charms, I think it would be neat to have accessories. Like Sunglasses, hats, necklaces. Maybe even shoes, or gloves. But that's probably a lot more work required than the charms. Half the time they clip into the survivor's outfit so they are kind of not worth using.

  • I'm not a hundred percent sure I'm on board for this change. It doesn't sound horrible, but it could slow the games down really hard towards the beginning with that 50% debuff. Might just be two minutes of waiting around on the survivors side. Or depending on the killer having a confident survivor bum rushing the killer so they can't set up.

I know my suggestion could make the gens take longer, but...I always thought it would be neat if gen speeds were killer dependent. A Billy zips across the map so his gen times would go by fairly fast, while someone like Trapper takes time to set up, and moves at base speed so gens might take a little bit longer. When I say longer I'm suggestion like maybe a 5 second difference between them. so 80 seconds being the fastest, 85 is normal, and 90 is long. It could make up for not having the mobility to traverse the maps, and would help to balance individual killers a bit better without being too boring for survivors as it's just a few more seconds.

  • Easily Freddy, His powers grants him a form of stealth, tracking, slow down, trickery, mobility, and almost entirely negates the effects of borrowed time.

Runner up I'd say is probably Spirit, no information during her phase will still let her catch most survivors with them only being able to make a guess, or a read to save their life.

  • I'd rather them not be balanced differently. But sure add M&K support if it's possible. When I hop on PC with my controller, or play it on PS4 with controller I don't notice any difference balance wise...unless maybe I'm facing off against a Huntress, or Nurse. Huntress is a small difference (They aim slightly faster than on ps4) Nurse is a big difference because of insta turns, so less chances of you running towards them during a blink to avoid getting hit. Just about everyone else there isn't that much of a difference.

  • I usually wait for a half off sale and then buy all the dlc that I can....at this point I'm caught up. So I have everyone. Now I'll probably buy them as soon as they are released because I'm a sucker like that. lol

  • @ASAPTurtle said:

Teammates. You guys ever had a Chase with the killer for 3 minutes, and the killer gives up. But you have that one survivor that gets found after and goes down in 8 seconds.

You broke all of my pallets in that chase tho! How dare you!!!! You just helped the killer! My excuse and I'm sticking to it.

  • For survivor I feel like I get tunneled far harder if I play as Laurie than if I use anyone else. I guess killers blame her for D-strike, so she must die. Or the Michael Myers player wants dat granny skirt, or dem jeansss. lol

As Killer I tunnel the survivor who brings in a key, other wise no one survivor makes me want to chase them over another. If they are attempting to be toxic or something, then I might.

You still bleed out over time if they do that. A dc is a dc so yeah it'd likely count since its automated based on if you left at all not case by case review.

I guess I wasn't paying attention to my bleed out timer, I was just the last survivor and the killer kept starting a mori and canceling over and over like 20 or 30 times. So I just left I assumed every time they started the mori it canceled the bleed out. And I had things to do other than wait for a killer to actually kill me so I could move on to another game, with the limited time I did have.

  • I tried it for a bit, it doesn't seem that great 9 times out of 10. But that 1 time it can be life saving. So I just don't run it to be honest. Being useful in about 1 out of 10 games...is enough for me to dislike it.

I don't find the doctor all that threatening, at least not threatening enough to run it. Usually it's the killers who have infectious fright that I'm more worried about. Because it's usually something like Slug Billy, or the Plag herself.

As a killer I don't find it to be very annoying to go against either. So there is that too.

For the hatch specifically, no, but we are working on the first phase of disconnection handling (disconnection penalties) and hope to test it against shortly.

Hey question, what should I do if a killer keeps doing the mori action, and canceling it over and over again for a long time? Will I be punished for DCing?

  • Survivor - Feng Min, I would invite her to play Dead by Daylight with me, and we would pwn sum silly killers! Or...I'd watch her play in her little tournaments.

Killers - Ya boy Michael Myers. Nothing bad would happen from that right? Though I think they turned his house into a chiropractors office or something. So rip them.

  • I like it with Botany Knowledge, I don't run it without it. Botany works pretty well at also healing teammates, and has saved a few games with the extra 33% healing speed applied when picking someone off the ground, or healing them before the killer returned. But yeah with Botany it's good, without bad.....it's hard countered by the Plague though.

  • I like Chucky, and would love him in the game. The Entity could just pick up the survivors and throw them on the hook for him, and break pallets. He'd be a pretty cool stealth killer imo.

  • Ya boy Michael Myers. I think he is one of the most fun killers to play. And his add-ons give him very unique games. Also generally a lot of survivors enjoy facing him, so it's a win, win for everyone!

  • -Insert Entitled Survivors, also insert Entitled Killers here-

No point in taking sides here, I've had both hatemail as a killer, and hatemail as a survivor. This isn't a you versus them issue, it's just people being horrible people. Just bust out the block button. It instantly gets rid of cyber bullying. Reporting them could net in them getting banned as well. That's all you need to do and it will be over.

Do you think Lightweight makes a big difference as Killer? Have you ever had trouble tracking a Survivor and found out afterwards that they had Tier 3 Lightweight?

My answer to you would be no. I've never lost a survivor in the middle of a chase because of Lightweight. However... I might have missed spotting their scratch marks out of a chase because of it.

  • To be honest if I saw that as killer I'd be laughing so hard. I'd screenshot it as well just to show off the salt. But I'm not one of those people who makes a big deal out of random trash talkers just because I win. I actually find it more funny than not. But then again...Some people got thicker skin than others, and other people actually think this is something they have to deal with.

A someone getting in your face and insulting you, or some guy attacking you as you walk down the street is something you 'shouldn't' have to deal with.

Random salty people who's faces you cannot see, that you can click X, or just leave the chat altogether 'isn't' something you have to deal with. You choose to let something like this effect you. If you really are upset, something else must be going on with you that isn't DBD related.

  • For me visually I'd like the farm maps to get touched up. They are honestly pretty ugly. And look outdated by todays standards. Also Corn Blindness is evil.

The Game to me I'd love to see not only some visual upda0tes, but some design updates. Lots of pallets everywhere, but once those pallets are gone, the survivors have no defense. So it's really not fun for either side.

And Haddonfield. It's actually pretty distinct visually. Though it does look a bit outdated as well. It is an older map. But...I'd love it if it was fixed up a bit. Maybe make the houses a bit more unique looking for example. Those fences are a bit obnoxious as well. So maybe for balance reasons help shorten them, or have less of them.

Well, I pretty much never see anyone using it correctly. They are always crouching around the map when the killer is nowhere near them and it is depressing to see them crouching towards me when I'm on hook

I've been on the receiving end of urban evasion terribleness. I was put on the hook, someone was being chased. And two people were urban evasioning towards me from across the map. I died on my first hook.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1050834#Comment_1050834

Haha yes, I hate it when my teammates use Urban Evasion

I didn't see the going against part so it would probably be OoO then.

I don't mind when my teammates have Urban Evasion, as long as they are using it correctly. To you know Evade the killer when he is looking in their area. But When I'm on the hook, and a survivor is being chased, and I just see them crouch walking everywhere I want to commit Seppuku.

  • -Monstrous Shrine. It's frankly too op to be able to just throw me in the basement and shave off like 6 seconds or something of the timer! Also it shows up in my bloodwebs...mocking me with it's greatness.

-Hope. Survivors shouldn't have hope...and 7% Haste is too op, it counters my Noed's speed boost. And if it's end game I need to really punish those survivors who worked on Gens the whole game without considering my feelings at all....

  • Killers are abusing dedicated servers on PS4, they hit me through pallets when they were 10 meters away after I drop them!!!1! REEEEEE

  • The face...looks pretty horrible. She looks like she took a lot of drugs, and then used the same drugs for make up.

BHVR if you read this, I really liked the top, but the hat ruins it. I would have bought it, but the hat swayed me away!

The bottoms...I mean it's okay, I don't think I'd wear it over Kate's Jeans, or Leather pants.

  • As many people have said it would kill the game. Or cut the player base in half. If anything they should buff solo survivor experiences to be as close to SWF as possible. If they did that, they might be able to look at killers and buff them as well if it is needed.

  • When looking at these forums...I'd have to agree that killer takes more skill.

But there is more to it I think. When starting out killer is much easier to play. New survivors vs a new killer. It's practically a walking simulator because the survivors don't know how to do any chases. So you walk towards them, hit, walk towards them and hit. Lots of maps and different places to learn how to loop. Knowing when to stealth and when to rush. etc. However there are other people as mentioned to help pick up the slack....or them over. Which could equate to higher rankings.

That being said you could also get lucky and only meet those crappy survivors, or maybe there is only one crappy survivor and the others are good. But if you quickly take out that crappy survivor the other 3 will struggle greatly. There are also different playstyles. You could play the campy tunneling killer and rank up killing teams that just want their friend not to have a bad time. Or you could take the skillful route, and juggle protecting your gens, knowing when and when not to chase survivors. Herd survivors into a bad 3 gen situation. yada yada.

TL;DR I believe Survivors have to git gud much quicker than killers but have a lower skill ceiling. Once a killer starts getting into the purple and red ranks they have to play catch up and git gud themselves. But they have a higher skill ceiling.

  • Personally... no add-ons Myers feels stronger to me than Infinite Tombstone Myers. It just takes way too long to get to tier 3. Even though you are going to de-pip even if you kill all 4 survivors...it's still somewhat satisfying.....

Would you say the same if they made keys a offering like mori's and not a item and would work the same way as mori's each color allows so many people to escape with that person. That is one reason why keys are stronger is because they are a item and one can be found in the match it's not like a killer can find a mori halfway into a match.

Well in all honesty an offering would make keys more powerful. At least outside of finding a random one in a chest. The killer can bring in Franklins, or a Mori to counter keys if he sees it in a lobby. Or the dreaded lobby dodge that many killers like to use to make the survivors queue times even longer. If it's an offering the killer can't do much about it at all. Without DCing whenever they see a hidden offering like some survivors do when a killer's offering is hidden.

I do believe Keys should be less commonly found in matches, though I also feel like in bloodwebs Mori's are far more common than keys.

But uhhh...you'll probably never change my mind about Key's being stronger than Mori's. Mori's can make a game near unwinnable very quickly. 4 man escaping with keys = all gens, 3 man = 1 gen left, 2 man = 2 gens left, and obviously the last person alive doesn't matter. + Finding the hatch.

    Mori is hook and delete.

You need to work hard to set up a 3 gen lock? Just sit in a general area and patrol the same gens?

I like that, that was all you took from my post. But fine, sure if that's all you do that isn't hard. But actually playing the game, and also protecting a certain set of gens can be difficult.

  • I do believe that Mori's are far stronger than keys, at least when you tunnel someone and delete them right away. Usually when the survivors are down a player is when things start to go down hill. So knocking that out early almost guarantees your win.

That being said, Keys can make a killer feel slightly robbed, they might have had a tough time protecting the gens and managing chases, but set up a 3 gen lock. They know survivors have no chance of finishing the lock that they worked to herd them into that terrible position. Only for all the survivors to suddenly jump through the hatch and escape. Feels bad man. Though I don't think it feels as bad as being the first one found, and killed right away.

  • I use Self Care and Botany quite often, because I tend to lose the killer in chases often, but I usually take at least one hit in doing so. And yes I'm that guy who points at the gen and tells a teammate to work on it while I self care in their face!

I like Inner Strength as well, but I get annoyed when everyone is using it, and all the totems get snatched up. Some just break the totems to avoid NOED, or for blood points. It's less reliable than Self Care, and usually only gives you 1 or 2 uses a game, and then in others you'll be struggling to even get 1 use out of it.

  • I see someone doesn't believe in the boogeyman....

  • I mean Overpowered is a stretch. It's not a guaranteed win playing as either of these. But...

I think Freddy, and Spirit are really strong. Freddy just has tons of pressure being able to basically delete, Borrowed time. Makes it difficult to determine his location while asleep. And ends most loops very quickly. The teleporting to gens also makes him have a lot of pressure anywhere on the map.

Spirit, I also feel is very strong. Maybe I don't know how to play against her but like...I feel like as soon as I take a single hit from her, and am injured it's over. She will phase walk and zoom after me before I can get anywhere, if I stop she see's that I stopped because lack of scratch marks, if I run around in circles she stops, if I keep running she catches me. And if I'm injured she just listens for that. Pretty annoying honestly...and there never seems to be a window near by for me to use.

But yeah, that's really it for me. My annoyance with Billy is his amount of chainsaw swings that hit...but they don't even look like they are close. Not really him.

  • I try not to tunnel, or camp. Unless...the person was being quote on quote, pretty toxic. If you're gonna teabag me at every pallet, I'll probably kill you that much quicker when I do get you.

Only time I might do something seen as tunneling, is if I just happen to see them again during my patrols, before seeing anyone else. I'm not, not going to chase them.

Only exception to my no tunnel rule is when I'm badly losing, like there is 1 maybe 2 gens left, and everyone is alive. I need someone dead at that point. So thems the breaks I guess.

I pretty much never face camp, unless I just want this person to die no matter what. Even when all the gens are finished, I kind of just move away far enough to not lose chaser.

I tend to let the last survivor go. Mostly just being nice, and besides...they can keep their fancy item for the next game....

  • For Killer: I'll just choose my main, Michael Myers. I use Pop Goes the Weasel, BBQ, Nurses Calling, and Monitor and Abuse. I tend to like playing with Dead Rabbit, and J.Myers Memorial Add-ons as well. Extra low terror radius for sneaking up on targets, and stalking them to 99%. Also low terror radius lets me sneak up on people who might be healing.

For Survivor: I have been using Self Care, Botany Knowledge, Lithe, and Borrowed Time. I notice that in a lot of my games I escape the killer quite often, but after taking a hit. So having a way to heal myself without wasting a ridiculous amount of time, while also being self sufficient is nice. Also Botany helps me heal others faster, lots of times I wouldn't have been able to get a heal off, or pick someone up off the ground before the killer returned without it. Lithe is just there to extend chases, and obviously Borrowed is for camping killers. But this is also the perk I'm most likely to switch off. For DS, Unbreakable, or just any perk I feel like using.

Survivor 2: Just a fun build I've enjoyed using recently is Bond, Kindred, Open Handed, and Distortion. I just like seeing what everyone is doing...and not letting the killer see me in the process lol

  • I think I noticed it once, it felt like I was slippery, like I was holding a survivor but wasn't for a moment. It was on the new Lery's Map, and I was The Shape. But as I said I only noticed it once, and it was only for a brief moment when trying to go through a door, I kept slipping and sliding to the edges of it, preventing me from going through it for a few seconds.

Something else I've noticed, or maybe I'm just rusty. The scratchmarks seem to either disappear randomly, or feel extremely delayed. I'll be chasing someone and they just seem to vanish, Despite the fact that they never stopped running.

    I played on ps4.

  • To be honest you are right. Rank doesn't matter in DBD really. There are green rank survivors who move like red ranks. And there are red ranks who move like they are complete potatoes.

Matchmaking is also royally screwed. You can be a rank 1 survivor and face off against a rank 20 killer. Or you can be a rank 20 survivor and face off against a rank 1 killer. So if you are new I'd say you'll have to learn very fast not to get stomped. But it is fun once you get the hang of it, at least it is to me.

  • That's all you gotta say huh? Just insult me for no reason. Nice response to my post. I'm sorry you are bad as killer. Just stick to survivor and get less triggered dood.

  • I don't want to be another one of those git gud peeps. But uhhh....I'd try to focus on what you can do as a killer to get more optimized. Better patrolling, better chases, better at realizing when to stop a chase and when to continue it. Knowing when to break a pallet and when not to. Probably a bigger one is knowing what gens to protect, and what gens to let the survivors have because they are simply not worth it. You know herding them into a certain section of gens for example. Lots of things add up.

You do not need the old ruin to win as killer. But it isn't a cake walk, lots of things to juggle. Practice is really all you need.

  • It seemed okay to me, though I play a lot of the boogeyman, and most people won't stay near a gen if I am even in viewing distance. Also works pretty well on Demogorgon. If I get a half way decent gen teleporter set up. It isn't the strongest, but it's okay. I'm the weird one who actually uses new Ruin with Pop goes the Weasel. So as soon as it breaks I have something else to help with gen speeds.

  • I'll search for NOED and pay heavy attention to the killers location. If they did leave the hook far enough for me to safely get an unhook I might try it. But generally I'll stay far enough away at all times that I can escape and the killer doesn't get another kill.

So a mix of A, B, and C. I'll escape if I think there is a chance I might die. I'll look for noed, and attempt to save if I think their is a chance that I will not die. And I'll stay by the exit gates while casually looking around for the NOED if I think their is a chance I'll die. lol

  • It's a bit annoying that they are all blacked out. Bit of an eye sore. But honestly it isn't that expensive to get all of the dlc. The DLC goes on sell all the time usually at half price. Just wait for a sell and get some of the dlc like a boss.

I do think on pc if it isn't already, the Doctor, Hag, Meg, and whoever was in the ps4 base version should be added for free at this point. Though I got most of the pc dlc when it was on sale for cheap. I'm missing some of the newer stuff however.

  • I don't think there is a bias towards any direction. A highly skilled killer can kill all 4 survivors at red ranks the majority of the time. And a high skilled survivor Team can also survive the majority of the time. And when they clash usually around 2 die.

People who say Killers are the only one who get nerfed are delusional. Balanced Landing, Metal of Man, Insta Heal Med Kits, Brand New Parts, Healing Speeds etc all got nerfed. Also hitboxes are worse than ever, half the time when you throw down a pallet the killer hits you through it regardless of how much distance you thought you had, meaning you need to throw it down earlier than you used to. Pallets distances have been increased, while hooks have been decreased. They also nerfed the Petrified oak so it only increases the distance between hooks instead of removing hooks. Which is why no one runs it anymore.

Killers has had a bunch of random nerfs, like EGC timer change for the pig, and Legions butt load of changes. Though most are killer specific changes. Rather than universal changes. I can't think of many perks that were nerfed except Dying Light. A lot of perks were actually buffed. Most of them were small buffs, but buffs none the less. I believe Pop went from 15% regression to 25% if I'm not mistaken. I don't feel like going over all of them tbh. I could but it would take a while. The strange part is. even with all the nerfs done to the killers, their tier placement hasn't really seemed to change. Freddy, Spirit, and Nurse are still dubbed top tier, and Legion is still considered as bad as he's always been. (Minus the cheese on launch)

Actually now that I look at it, it's probably all the nerfs to survivor that is allowing killers to almost have a 3k rate across the board according to the data they released. When their goal is 2K. A previous data chart showed Killers struggling at the higher ranks before the survivors heal nerf. So it isn't completely useless data at least not to me.

Now Ruin getting nerfed is a biggy for killers. Huge Nerf really. I'm good enough at killer to play without ruin, but I know the average killer isn't. They need that to buy them some extra time. Hopefully the devs do what they said they were going to do, and monitor gen times, and adjust it in a later patch without them having to worry about the randomness that is Hex: Ruin.

  • I main Michael Myers, therefor when I feel like making the game more enjoyable. I play as my boy! The Shape! The Boogey Man!

I guess I have some fun playing as The Legion for some reason too. For some reason I just like running around the map. lol

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 10
