A competitive queue sounds like a good idea in theory. But dividing an already sparse fanbase into different playlists might give you like 1 hour waits to find a game. That's not so ideal is it. I also would love for all sweat squads to be in their own separate playground, but what will stop them from going into casual and stomping them casuals? Some sort of punishment for very experienced players? And what if someone who can play very well decides to just have some causal fun? I'm not sure how that would work. But, with all that said, I'd still enjoy a well thought-out competitive + casual system of queues
Que times would suffer so its not likely to happen but it would be nice.
You would make unranked not give any bloodpoints. It would be like a custom game where everything is unlocked for everybody and you could just go in and test things out have fun ect.

Because there is no rank, no reward, no REASON to compete other than personal options. Plus rank resets every month. Theres no accurate "good or bad" to use in a competetive ranked system.
Plus its asymmetrical, it's almost impossible to acurately gauge both sides as a competetive game. Because theres 2 different metrics to use.
Its casual, but due to its 1v4 and horror elements, people WANT to think its competetive.
But there is a rank, the reward is blood points, and weather the ranking system is accurate or not is irrelevant.
The fact that its in place today would seem to me that the game was designed to be competitive, but just my opinion.

also if it would become competive there are tons of things that needs balancing like moris, keys and even hatch. I dont think it should be possible in a competive game to escpae through the hatch when you did nothing just because your mates died. They would need to find any other solution so no one can take the game hostage. To balance the game to a competive level there is tons of work to do before.
When i say competitive im not talking like tournaments ect im mainly talking about how serious you take the game.
Like i would say im pretty knowledgeable on dbd i know most of the numbers for perks / items ect.
Like for an example otzdarva made a 7 hour video detailing every single killer add on giving specific numbers for each add on for each killer.
I watched the entire 7 hour video.. Twice just to better familiarize myself with the game so i can be better.
The average dbd player who just loads up for fun isnt about to sit and watch 7 hours of technical info on the game, they just wanna load up and have fun.
Thats what i mean when i say competitive style of playing.

Then sorry for missunderstooding.
I agree with most of the points but the problem is if you add a ranked mode and a casual mode, the queue times will take even longer.
Likewise as i didnt intend to come off as sounding like people who dont play like my style are trash.
Everybody plays the game the way they want to play and thats fine.
I can see your point on que times but i mean it would be worth a try. I think alot of people would enjoy this.
You could go into unranked when learning a new killer or how to use new perks while working on strategy and plays and then switch to ranked once you feel comfortable with using them.

but if you look here https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system
it tells you in Griefing, it says holding the game hostage. Im not sure if what I did falls under that category
In reference to holding a match hostage, this refers to when the survivors arent doing anything to progress the game and further (do gens ect) progress.
If survivors are just hiding for an absurd amount of time ect 20+ minutes with no progress made on any gens this can get you banned since the game is technically held hostage since the killer cant do anything.
Very rare this happens but it does.

Dont get me wrong, i alos would love the game to get more competive since i also play pretty much only play competive but you let it sound like that everyone who doesnt want to play / cant play competive is complete trash and a worser class of human.
Thats just how it sound like to me.
But also, just because its a 4vs1, it doesnt mean it is meant to be competive. Also as far as i know the devs themselfses once said the game was never meant to be competive but i could be wrong with this.
No im saying that there is a clear line of people who are sweaty and not sweaty.
Some players load up and just have fun what happens happens.
Then you have players like me who have researched the technical parts of the game like exactly how long it takes to health with a med kit or exactly how many charges it takes to get a sabo off ect so that i can be as efficient and optimal all game to give myself the advantage.
Im not saying people who dont play competitive style like me are trash, im saying id rather be paired with more advanced like minded survivors like me rather than just the average dbd player whos just having a good time and doesnt really care to learn all the technical aspects of the game.
This is why we need a lobby for ranked and another lobby for unranked.
Edit : when i search for solo que i want other survivors who are working hard to level up like myself not someone who doesnt care weather he dies or lives or how the game goes.
If your someone who doesnt care about your rank a unranked lobby would be perfect they could just throw all the people who just wanna have fun and goof off in unranked.
Then you would have ranked for the sweaty more competitive players.
-
@Carpemortum said:
You taking this casual game competitively doesnt make it competetive.
This isnt siege of GoW. Its 1v4 horror simulator.
How is this game a casual game? This isnt gta5 where you just load up and do whatever you want.
You load into a match with a set objective each match and a team to accomplish said objective and as the game is of now your givin a rank assigned to you to try and work your way up to rank 1.
How is that not competitive?
-
@Demonl3y said:
Just because yku want it to be competive it doesnt mean everone wants it.
Also imagine you think you are better because you got a higher rank than others..
Its not about me wanting it to be competitive, thats how they created the game.
How is this not a competitive game? Its a 4v1 objective based horror game.
I think its the other way around, the game itself is competitive already and alot of non experienced players are wanting the rank to disappear so itll lean more towards non competitive play.
Just stupid to build your player base off of one game design and then in year 4 of the game there gonna switch up the whole play style of the game?
And yes i imagine i am better than the majority of dbd players i come across. Lots of boosted red ranks up there and some people got the skill to back up there rank and some people dont.
Doesnt mean we still dont like seeing rank 1 beside our name.

The problem is that stealth gameplay is much more frustrating as killer than loops imo.
I rather get looped for 5 gens by neon Nea than playing against 4 Blendettes on Yamaoka and not finding a single soul while all gens get done.
This is just boring and frustrating. It often happens when 2 survivors are left in the game and both are waiting for each other to die so they can get hatch. So they just stealth around and without whispers you'll never ever find them. It happened 2 times to me, nobody did a gen, I couldn't find anyone, I checked lockers, basement, everything..and in the end I just tabbed out of the game, went afk and watched youtube videos.
Stealth gameplay is the worst.
I'd even wish they would implement something that let's the killer start endgame collapse after a certain time has passed.
i couldnt have said it any better myself.
As a rank 1 killer nothing is worse than stealth game play. It sucks.
Loop me all day, but please dont hide in the corner when you hear the heart beat, and this does always seem to happen when its down to the last 2.
Loops is what makes the game fun imo, I enjoy the different tiles and i like pallets with LOS blockers and non LOS blockers.
Pallets without LOS blockers come down to a good ole ring around the rosie in determining whos reaction time is better.
Pallets with LOS blockers come down more to the mind game, moon walking, weird pathing, ect.

Nope it's 20m, with a 40m lullaby.
Also i think it'd be pretty cool to have bouncing hatchets be an addon for her. Like, "Your hatchets will bounce off of the surface of objects 3 times before breaking" and if they hit a wall they rebound, hit the floor they bounce forwards in another arc. Programming nightmare but would be so cool to face
Lol no it wouldnt you would get randos just throwing hatchets through lerys and getting randoms hits all the time.
A nightmare lol

Ds is perfectly fine except for the fact that it works after you pass through the exit gates.

Survivor is 100 times easiest to play than killer.
Im rank 1 on both sides on xbox, and playing killer is way harder than survivor especially if your playing smart survivors who know how to loop and mind game.
Its not impossible but it is hard af especially if its a swf on coms.

You have 90 seconds to grab it.
90 seconds is nothing from when you first get hit. If your even remotely decent at looping you can run the killer for minimum 30 seconds to a minute If you reach a pallet or window.
Then if he does get you and you get hooked by the time you saved your item is gone.

@Nurgling7 said:
They actually answered that in the Q&A. It uses the average MMR of the SWF.
Because that definitely was totally fine before and didnt lead to any SWF bully squads bringing a couple smurfs to get lower rank killers. No siree.
They should match the killer based off the highest ranked member of the squad. If lower ranks want to play with the best, they have to face the best.
If "red ranks" wanna play with lower ranked people to boost them up then when you face a good killer your just stuck with potatoes on your team and you get ran over.

I'm not one that'll camp An Item. Imma be smacking the survivor. Which is the point. Most will retrace their steps hoping to grab their items again. Go ahead, I'll just keep whacking them out of hands. That never means I'm going to let a survivor go. They Are the things I'm smacking to death. (Well, twice til The Entity finishes the job) I dont speak for others like some do here. Say what You want. Franklin's works.
Franklins wouldnt even be a problem if the white ward did its job. A white ward should lock your item in regardless of FD.
Most ######### sh1t ever but then again this is DBD. So cant expect much.

And this "logic" Is why I use Franklin's. No matter who brings in what. I'mma smack it out of hands. 😬 it is fun to watch survivors attempt to run right back and pick them up. O ly for me to just smack it again out of hands. Whoever goes for it. 😊
Franklins doesnt bother me so much as the killer still has to catch me first and the good ole locker tech still works against franklins. Also ive noticed killers are camping my flashlight after they knock it down.
Then the killer waste all game chasing me making sure i don't get my item back and then we just gen rush him. So its an even trade off.
Franklins is more of an annoyance than a help to the killer. Making a survivor drop his item isnt going to win or lose a killer the game and vise versa for survivor.

It might not be that way forever. They rushed this out without making a UI system or changing ranks because (in their mind) the actual matchmaking is more important. Now, I have not heard for sure how they are going to display the ranks to players, or if they will at all. I have heard that they are giving us more information about the system in general "very soon", I believe some sort of FAQ. However, the general reason for not giving players rank information is to avoid players gaming the system. How much BHVR will end up sharing however, I have no idea.
This is honestly my biggest critique of the devs for this process, whatever information they are planning on giving us "soon" should have been available before the system came out. That is one of the largest sources of confusion right now, that no one really knows what to expect out of this system. I'm not talking about the people complaining that they've played 2 games, so the whole system sucks, that's just reactionary. But the other people who are legitimately confused about this stuff and how MMR systems work in general, that could have been fixed by explicitly warning your player base that matchmaking will be a little chaotic for a bit. That's technically been done, but not in a succinct, easily accessible way. It should be top of the forums, big news post. But instead people have to go searching in forum posts to get answers from forum admins who only have so much information.
I was just in the post called we demand to be shown our mmr score or something and i believe her name is mandytalks or something similar to that is a mod and said they do not intend to show us any part of the score as then it could be manipulated ect.
Edit : im retarted they posted in this thread its currently the 3rd post.
@Mandy said:
We are not explaining how the MMR is calculated - it's pretty normal to keep those conditions under wraps to prevent any exploiting of the system.
And no, this is not a strawman, the MMR system is a very real thing that's been in development for quite some time. However, it is going to take some time to accurately start to matchmake whilst everyone's MMR score is fully calculated.

What do you think ?
Its trash. Was trash before and now its even bigger trash since your item disappears.
Then again just pull the old put your item on at 10 seconds or switch chars at 7 secs and play with no offering, since the new patch makes it to where if you char switch last minute your offering no longer works.
This simple but effect tactic works 95% of the time since if the killer doesnt see any items would be a waste of a perk slot.
All survivor's should just do this. If your bringing a flashlight or key you should 100% of the time use this method since killers hate those items the most.
Set your char up and then click in your right stick one time to change chars BEFORE you start searching for a match, once you load up into the lobby when the timer hits 7 secs click in your left stick one time. Ez
Also a great way to avoid lightborn since most killers wont run it if they dont see any flashlights.
Edit : notice the comment below mine to where this man literally just said he puts on franklins if he sees a key in the lobby.
-
To say that they keep the ranks hidden is stupid. What are players suppose to work for then? Not everybody that plays this game wants to just go in and goof off in the game.
Some of the experienced players we enjoy the more technical parts of the game, like linking perks together to make plays like using unbreakable with soul guard to save a team mate from a camping killer then save with BT to save a team mate.
Or efficient looping combined with mind games to out play the killer.
Newer players havent been playing long enough to know these things yet.
So when im searching for team mates to play with i can no longer be like searching for red ranks? I dont wanna play just to play and have fun, i wanna be competitive and feel like im better than the killer.
Nothing is better than playing a game and watching the killer lose his rank because he over committed to chasing me or a team mate and lost the game because of it.
As well as having bragging rights over your buddies about whos the better.
Watching your buddy depip because he didnt do enough last game gives us something to laugh about while we wait 30 minutes for our next match as well as now he knows he needs to maybe do an extra gen or be more altruistic next game to make sure he gets his rank back.
-
It feels so random because one game youll have good team mates and the next there brand new its like win or lose, these pairing cant be based off skill.
I agree they should should us something similar to our rank emblem now. How are we suppose to tell who were going against if we cant see anybodies score?
Devs cant just say your rank emblem means nothing anymore so dont pay attention to it and were basing everything off some score nobody can see.
How are we suppose to work at getting getter at the game if we cant see a goal to get to? Thats why we play to get to rank 1, or at least why i play.

Yeah go to youtube and watch trapper main otzdarva if you watch a couple of his games you'll see him put traps down and he literally says it as he does it. Guys incase you didnt know you put a trap right here and it goes through the floor. Lol the devs know about this but theres a bunch of spots in a bunch of maps.
Then again how many good trappers do you go against that actually know about these spots? To be honest i wouldnt even know about them had i not watched otzdarva
-
@Dsalter said:
the whole point of trapper is you are ment to go slow and steady or end up deady, thats part of why most good trappers will usually let the first gen or 2 pop during setup and avoid long chases.
if anything his traps need a buff not a nerf his weakest "darken traps" addon needs to be baseline along with his trap setting speed and his 2 bonus traps bag, give him those base line and i could see trapper becoming C or even B tier.
likewise same issue with demo, his portals can be strong and his presence can be just as strong but whats holding him back is some addons are awful yet required to play him, making rats tail and liver baseline and buffing some of his yellow and green addons slightly would bump him up pretty well, a C tier at least, maybe even B tier if they gave him 2 free placed portals near opposite sides of the map.
This man is complaining about how their is certain spots on maps where you can lay a trap down and it literally will disappear under the floor. Like i know one of the doorways in the preschool is like that. When you put the trap down on a certain board it will hide itself under the board and its literally invisible.
The ormond main building has a doorway like this as well where you can hide a trap under the floor.

This may just reflect my own personal experiences lately, but I've found it increasingly more difficult to actually have fun in the game. Instead, I've turned my passion to watching more DBD videos and specific content creators such as Monto, who provide a different outlook on the game and a sort of hilarious comedic element which I find intriguing. That put aside, I want to know what's causing this lack of inspiration to actually play the game - are others experiencing similar occurrences? Is it just me? Honestly, I love DBD to death and also despite the bugs, I've been thoroughly enjoying the mobile port. However, I just can't shake these feelings of boredom...
It really angers me, because I'm on these forums for more of my day than I am on DBD itself.
Im right there with you as i watch monto as well and he does add that sense of comedy to it and its fun to sit back and just watch other people.
With MMR being so all over the place its hard to get a good game now adays.
Im rank 1 on killer and survivor and im always paired with high ranks which is no fun on either side. Either im steam rolling over babies or i run the killer for 3 minutes and all 3 potatoes on my team are just crouch walking around everywhere.
Either way its not fun to physically play DBD atm.

these are just some of the bugs that I’ve personally noticed and there’s probably quite a few more that I’m unaware about. I know that maybe a couple of these issues might get fixed next update but the point is I think the game is at its worst and I’m pretty sure some people can agree but atm the game is almost unplayable. For the first time this game drove me away because of how irritating these bugs are. I also feel really bad for the newer players that haven’t learned the basics of the game or how to counter the killer they’re up against, (same goes with new killers that don’t know how to counter certain survivor perks/loops/etc.) Don’t get me wrong I love dead by daylight it’s my favorite game to play but it’s at it’s worst right now. (imo)
I wouldnt say the game is in the worse state ever. Its full of bugs and glitches they need to work out.
Need to stop making new chapters and new skins collecting all our money and instead they should spend a few months just fixing the game as is.

I doubt they knew you were playing oni. They probably did that to avoid franklins, especially now since your item disappears and the killer can camp your item since its shown to him in a white aura now.
As a rank 1 survivor who normally plays with a team we always have keys and flashlights switch when the timer hits 8 secs.
So to the killer he only sees one or two survivors with a medkit or toolbox and most killers wont bring franklins if they only see 2 people with items and its not a key or a flashlight.
So in short they just didnt wanna lose their items, pretty sure they werent cheating unless you consider comms cheating 😆

Most pointless item in the game, unless you are part of the A team and can build a tank out of a half key, a spring and and envelope, they are #########.
The only thing the broken key is good for is using it like the perk bond. Throw on some team mate aura readings and now you have a ghetto version of bond while still running 4 other perks.
Literally the only use this janky item has.

This should be an option once your character has reached P3 status. Would give people a reason to actually want to prestige.
