You could write a book on the number of useless Killer perks. INB4 a guy pops in "No! There's this one gimmick build that works with this one Killer so it's not worthless!" Then he uses an extremely dated meme and thinks he won the argument.

    Beast of Prey: complete garbage.

Blood Warden: too situational and countered by an SWF squad.

    Fire Up: complete garbage.

Distressing: complete garbage except on Doctor.

Deer Stalker: pointless because there's other better tracking perks.

Dying Light: not terrible but too situational. Only works on Freddy if you use the Black Box add-on.

    Iron Grasp: complete garbage.

    Devour Hope: complete garbage.

    Third Seal: complete garbage.

    Huntress Lullaby: complete garbage

Knock Out: hard countered by SWF.

Make Your Choice: pointless except on Hag and Nurse.

    Unrelenting: complete garbage.

    Monstrous Shrine: complete garbage.

    Overcharge: complete garbage.

    Overwhelming Presence: complete garbage

Spies from the Shadows: complete garbage.

    Surveillance: complete garbage.

    Thanatophobia: complete garbage.

Some people defend Thana but honestly you have to couple it with other perks that slow them down like Dying Light or Coulrophobia or Unnerving Presence. Which takes up at least 2 slots. And that's two less slots that can help you with the most important part of the game: the chase.

I don't agree with some of these

  • @Chi said:
Surveillance and Thanataphobia are the only ones I can think of.

There ain't no way Thanataphobia is useless, not with how many killers run it in there builds.

  • DS doesn't make a good survivor, it takes more then that. I have that feeling toward camping (Not the point right now, do not disturb) People run DS mainly to help keep their ranks above all else really or have just gotten used to having it.

But DS is just a perk, I don't run it any more, becuase I don't need it honestly, there are times I wish I had it but I'm fine. I'm here to have fun and run what ever perks I want weather I'm killer or survivor, and wear all the lovely cosmetics

I'll give a good experience for my self and everyone else who plays DBD.

You know people can have fun crushing altruistic survivors. You think bubba was an accident. Behaviour knew there were players who loved to hang close to hooks and punish well meaning survivors. You might hate it and think its not fun but a lot of fun survivor and killer moments come at the expense of the other side. No one enjoys getting curb stomped by killers or survivors but its not gonna stop them.

I don't complain survivors can't have flashlights because its frustrating because I know it has counters and exists to give survivors a moment of heroism. However there is one advantage to losing as a survivor that a killer can't avail of. The company of other players to joke and laugh about the way the game went.

Also its alright to tell someone that if they get better they can win. But don't kid yourself if ruin goes down in the first 10 seconds you will need to keep people on hooks at any cost so camping will be mandatory as mechanically speaking their is no stabilising mechanic for killer, when your behind however survivors will always have hatch all that's required is a mere two generators and a lone survivor.

....Well I guess that explains why I hate playing against Bubba, because he was made for that play style.
But still...Also I have herd people saying he's one of the low teir killers? that also seems hard to believe with how strong I see other players with him are (when not camping)

What point are you making here?

No disrespect I'm just trying to understand what you are saying.

Is it "If killers are weak and you arent having fun, why do you play?" or "If you suck at killer, why do you play?"

I feel like im missing the point

First one, because some killers camp, I think "they aren't having fun they just want to win, so why are you playing?" This doesn't apply to all killers but some.

You ask whats wrong when you DC? You actually commit a bannable offense, oh and the killer doesnt get the full bloodpoints. In fact, if all survivors DC instantly, then the killer gets 2500 BP, just to put it into relation.
DCing supports the killer in his behaviour and punishes your team, but thats a different story

Not really understanding the thread anyway, do you want to get killers buffed such taht they dont have to camp or what is the intention?

This is my feeling towards DBD, And an explination as to why I will.

I feel like no one can have fun anymore unless they are playing a private match with friends. Buffing killers so the don't have to camp? sure if thats possible, I'd love it to be fair both ways. I have played the kid friendlier version of DBD on my phone, and thats way more ballenced DBD itself. it even has what DS should be.

Ranks is when killers start getting salty and don't find it fun.

If so, then why bother at all playing this game? I've seen people resort to camping and worse so they could win. Forget about your rank for a round and try out stuff. And what are going to do anyway when you get higher ranks or win? you can have fun weather or not Survivors escape.

I have this situation, but mean strategy with Nurse but I need to test it.

Your perks are only as good as the user, and use what ever you want, I don't care if win or loose. (I care if....Ugh) but really try out differen't perks even if your a killer, I plan on playing killer and survivor so I can improve, and give players a good fair/fun match either way.

What about all the licensed characters? @BLUE_APE
What happened to Lauri, Bill, Quentin and Tapp?

Uuuuh, well the thing is, since they are licensed characters, they aren't really cannon. But your right ,your right, I mean not everyone is going to play the non licensed survivors.

(My fav) Laurie goes back home and lives her life with almost no memory of past events in the relm of the entity. Nothing more then a bad dream. (though I'm sure she's still a wreck after walking in a house to find her friends dead, only to be attacked right afterward.)

Quentin wakes up in his bed the next morning, he remembers the events, because he knows about dreams and dream world stuff. But continues on, and prepares, should Freddy return.

Tapp wakes up in hospital, wearing a large neck cast. (I reeeeeaally don't know enough about him to say what happens)

Bill.....I'm uh....you got me there, because Bill actually died in left for dead 2, and he ended up in the relm of the entity. So either Bill comes back and finds his comerads, or he's lead into a heaven by an angle.

  • I picture the ending of DBD being seperate game mode, it has one map, and the killer plays as the entity in a smaller form, because the survivors are close to escaping perminnently.
The reward for beating said mode, you get legacy cosmetic (one peice) for the survivor you were playing as everytime you beat it, and a cutscene where the survivor you were playing as, returns home like nothing happened. It was all a dream?

Dwight Claudette and Meg wake up in a hospital (Not the same one, because they all don't live in the same place and maybe time)

Jake wakes up in his forest home (because he went out to be a survivalist)

Kate wakes up in her family's house, they found her out in the woods unconsicens.

Ace would wake up in a small town near the swamp.

David would wake up in a bar.

Feng Min would wake up in a hospital
    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand
Nea wakes up at crotus penn asslym, during the day. (because thats where she went missing)

This cutscene would depend on who you played as, and....if you won.

    No.

Useless? what version of DBD are you playing?

  • I think its cool idea

  • You know I never really considered that.
Perhaps the reason why there isn't survivors from the future is because the Entity itself is in the here and now in our time. And the survivors that we know and love ( or hate ) are the ones that have been there longer.

  • @Orion said:
Looping/DS/SB/SC/BT isn't fun for either side, Survivors who loop or use those perks could just be doing it to win, which is stupid. Loopers are just playing a game to win at something they aren't even good at. (sic) So loopers play a different game and quit wasting our matches, when we could be playing more fun and challenging matches with a good Survivor.

Now, did that convince you? Obviously not.

Looping? Okay back to camping, Killers should be out and searching for other survivors after they hook someone, not standing right there waiting for them to die. to me Camping can be (to an extent) justifide. 1. is if the killer wasn't able to catch anyone before the exit gates were open, but that also could mean they got salty.
    2. they could be doing it for a daily rituel, I (in a way) camped when I had this daily rituel to sacrifice 2 survivors with the Wraith. I was honestly really bad at being killer, but this was during the time you couldn't change your daily rituel for something else. What i did was I hooked someone, went invisable, let another person save them, uninvisabled and chased after the person who wasn't injured. but after that I played fairly.

Okay bringing looping into the subject, Looping is different, the killer has the choice to go and look for another survivor that isn't as good at looping, other wise he's wasting time chasing someone he can't seem to catch ( not Yet but maybe later) Looping is also a distraction tactic, and like I said the killer could go and try to catch other survivors instead of being looped by someone.

What I have quoted from you is dumb, Ever hear of hide and seek tag? being the killer is hard, though I only play killer from time to time just to troll people with doctor (ZAP ZAP!!) I do see how toxic survivors can be.
Look it may seem like it, but I'm not all the way with survivor, camping is a problem that comes from the killers only. Not being able to find survivors and/or being able to hit them due to juking from survivors thats a skill based problem. Survivors not being able to juke and/or getting saved from the hook thats a survivor problem. (I literraly had a match against huntress, where I got hooked roughly before the last gen or 2 gens were done and no one bothered to come save me, so I lucky me freed my self)

Look I'm sorry but camping just makes it un fun and the killer wastes time not really playing at all. You your self have to know this is a big problem, and not a lot of people want to play this game because of camping. I have accepted I'm not always going to escape. if anything now I just play to see how good I can get and for fun. I don't really care about ranks. but if I encounter a camping killer, then I'm going to dc because I don't want to play match thats going to make me mad, its not worth it. I'll accept my fate if I die, but not if its going to from someone who doesn't really want to play. if your one of those killers who made it to higher ranks from camping then we are done here...

    in Camping Comment by BLUE_APE
  • @Orion said:
Camping is fine, and hook gymnastics are already a thing. Survivors need to get over themselves and accept the fact that they're not always going to survive every game.

And killers need to understand that they aren't always going to kill someone, and resorting to camping is the for the weak.

A while ago I played against a full prestieged Trapper, and there wasn't any juking him. he didn't camp or tunnel and he killed pretty much everyone before we got any gens done.

Camping isn't fun for either sides, killers who camp could just be doing it to win, which is stupid. Campers are just playing a game to win at something they aren't even good at. so campers play a different game and quit wasting our matches, when we could be playing more fun and challenging matches with a good killer.

  • I think that once a survivor is hooked, a you can either struggle to get free (the first time of course) , and/or Call.

The new action Call would make one of those noise animation the killers can see when someone messes up a gen or vaults (ect). To the survivors, the call notification will either glow green signaling that they need help and the killer isn't near by, but if the killer is with in a certain range (I'm not sure how far yet but a decent distance) then the call will be red and if the killer is close enough to the hook then his aura will be revealed to the other survivors.

Note: the more you use the call, the slower cool down is after you use it. The cool down will reset when you have been rescued from the hook. You can also use this action even if you are struggling after your second hooking.

How ever, the killer will be notifide if the hooked survivor is calling out for help. But the notification will be just yellow and whatever colors are in it. Killers can counter this new action with the perk Knock out.

I think this should be a new action, not a new perk because, camping is a nasty thing in this game. I can understand camping after the exit gates have been opened, but over all it needs to stop.

    in Camping Comment by BLUE_APE
  • I don't really think there is slugging everyone is annoying and camping is DBD's cancer.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...I don't know if this counts or not, but because I main survivor, I like to play as doctor sometimes and just run around and ZAP people. I have brought the game to a stand still with just zapping people and just messing around without really trying to hook anyone, I got a good amount of points from this.

Also, I do have this strategy for Nurse.... its REEEEAALLY!! situational, but can be VERY MEAN if it works. I need to test it to find out.

  • @Abyssionknight said:

I think it's still going to be a situational perk, and probably not used by the vast majority of the community, but it's a step in the right direction. I think if it had some other passive effect, or even just a small aura shroud while no one is dead, that might help make the perk more viable.

  • Maybe? Well either the entity makes toilet paper out of some of the trees, or it uses the skin from sacrifced survivors...I mean they come back to camp fire when the die without a scratch on them, sooooooo eh?

  • I was actually wondering that for both sides, but I pretty sure you don't want to hear "Its nightmare world so hilbilly chain saw is worked by satanic power. The monsters don't sleep, just like the survivors, they only have the urge to kill. and vice versa"

But okay the hag ain't homeless, she's got that river boat. Or at the very least spends their time relaxing behind the survivors waiting for their next game.
Doctor's electric bill is coverd by the entity, same for Billy's chain saw repairs.
Wraith eats "Enty-O's", A special part of your morning breakfeast filled with hope and tears of your past victims.
Poor Nurse has Insomnia, so she just rocks back and forth on a chair hoping to fall asleep.

Hey I'm sorry over reacting, I get vary upset over people fussing over this perk. But I see you feel the same about object of obsession (if used right) its one of the strongest perks in the game. Its just when I got the game I bought the halloween DLC and Laurie was who I started off with. No one really uses Laurie's perks because they only look for DS. Do think think this would be a fair nerf (only obsession gets to use it for instant free once per match) while everyone else gets to wiggle faster? (not by much though, to make it more fair)

In the end I honestly just want the game to be fair for both killer and survivors, also do you main Billy boy?

Wiggling faster would make some hooking impossible in quite a lot of corners of maps, especially in Suffocation pit and Grim Pantry.
Survivors exploited these spots a lot at some point, and even if it got improved since then, it could prove very annoying to deal with survivors running in a corner repeatedly not to get hooked.
The devs are actually considering something like : Decisive strike stunning the killer in place, but not letting go the victim anymore, which could lead to more flashlight plays, and eventually some ways not to get hooked once if planned, that could be allright I suppose, to be tested.

I think they'll release it in the next PTB to test.

I main Billy, Hag and soon, Clown!
But I play all killers except for LF, Freddy and Nurse since I find these 3 unbearable to play.

Well do you think this nerf would be fair? Laurie's perks all about obsession. so I think those who are the obsession and running the perks should get the good stuff.

There are a few fixes I would like and any of them would make me a bit happier with the state of the perk. I absolutely want the perk gutted personally but I feel like some things would hurt it a lot without touching the core mechanics of the perk

    • Make it require an item. Makes Franklins a hard counter to DS.
    • Give the killers more viable obsession perks, make people afraid to be the obsession. Remember me and Dying light are very rarely used.
    • Make it an exhaustion perk. Not being able to use the perk and SB on the same build might work wonders and disable a big part of the meta build.

I believe the problem with DS isn't that it exists. It's that it ties so well with the current meta for survivors and drastically hurts the killers meta. If we made counters for DS and limited the meta perks we could tie with DS it would be in a much better state. If a perk like dying light was made that painted a target on the obsessions back and lead to them being tunneled down then a lot less people would be using DS, if the killers had a perk that could stop DS a lot less people would run it, if people had to sacrifice a sprint perk for DS a lot less people would run it. It needs counters and it needs more downsides for survivors that run it, it does not need a nerf to it's sole purpose it's combos are simply too good and there is no downside to running the perk.

I threw out the idea for DS to require an item. But some idioit didn't see how it would nerf it.

The "problem" with DS is its entire existence. The whole perk needs to be canned and replaced.

There should not be a perk for Survivors that literally rewards them for failure. That's exactly what DS does. Some people treat it as a free pallet stun, and others require it to even survive the game.

Such a huge crutch should not even exist in a game with the gall to have the tag "Survival Horror."

Well hate to break it to you but the Dev's have stated they can't get rid of any perks. I know DS is unfair the way it is, but they can't get rid of it now. All the people who have invested bloodpoints for it would all have been for nothing, and thats more so unfair. I did consider people like you saying it should be gotten rid of, but honestly, I think you killer players would have a much more easier time chasing and hooking if only one person could use it. then any other survivors who have it would hope they are far away from a hook, so they can wiggle free.

  • @Nos37 said:
What about an additional perk slot designated for a perk that is used in place of Decisive Strike if the survivor is not the obsession? Then Decisive Strike can be an obsession-only perk.

Well sucks to be a killer main because news flash DEVS can't get rid of any perk. Oh and any obsession based perks for survivors (which are only 2) suck as well, and I do care about killer mains which is another reason why I made this ( most killers except maybe you now any ways)
