I will bring this up to the team - I'll make some notes after going through this thread and advise them of the situation - thank you for the information, especially with regards to the Blight skin!
I don't know how much power you actually have within BHVR, but please.
We do not need new content
We do not need new licensed survivors/killers
Please. We. Want. A. Game. Health. Update.
A full chapter, dedicated to performance, bugs, glitches, everything. No New Content. Just Fixing The Game.

No, the fact that Dead Hard is calc'd on the survivor side is insane. It's worse than before imo.
Console players playing on Wifi are insanely buffed by this, people can pull out the most delayed, latest dead hards imaginable and the killer cannot do anything about it
Legit if you have garbage internet, Dead Hard is the best perk in the entire game for you.

i need exemples, i dont know any games with EAC that dont have hacker problem. Everytime a game is announced to have EAC, everyone usually become skeptical
Apex Legends uses EAC and has a hacker problem, but not nearly to the extent of Dead by Daylight
In AL you see people aimbotting and have wallhacks all the time. They're cheating, but these are minor cheats that you can at least attempt to hide.
Furthermore, we know these people DO get banned, that's why they often have to be subtle with their cheating and will at least pretend to play like a real person. It's also a Free To Play game, so people who do get banned can just make a new account and get started again.
In DBD like I said, they don't even need wallhacks or aimbots. They can just fly around the stage, instantly heal teammates, use perks that they don't even have, move at insane speeds, blind the killer for the entire duration of the match, the world is their playground. The reason they can do this is because the game is physically incapable of recognizing this occurring.
Even worse, reporting is known to not do anything as the ban never goes through or the ban happens MONTHS after the report is received. People have just given up on reporting due to the poor feedback reporting gives.
Both games have hacker problems, but DBD's problems are far far more ridiculous than Apex Legends'
The only things DBD's anticheat have going for it is: 1. DBD is a paid game, 2. DBD has a notably lower population than Apex Legends.

2 or 3
Most perks in the game aren't very good, even the "fun" ones. The game isn't fun for me if I equip objectively bad perks just to spice things up.
To give you an idea, my concept of "Fun and Viable" perks are: STBFL, Surge, Iron Maiden.
My issue is and for people like me is that there simply isn't a good pool of perks to choose from without seriously putting yourself at a disadvantage.

No one's downplaying it. Everyone listed exactly what the perk did.
Uh huh. And what happens when 4 different survivors bring boon perks?
This is factually incorrect.
The difference is that breaking totems as killer only takes down 1 piece of a a network of 4 pieces, and killer is objectively on a higher time pressure than survivors.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Good one. Why do you think people don't use Thrill? Meanwhile, survivors can just select good totem spots and have less of an RNG factor compared to the killer's iteration. 4 survivors with boon perks are practically covering the map. These perks come bundled with omega undying. Imagine Ruin coming with a free respawn, but worse in this case.
Sounds like you're the baby.
Uh huh. And what happens when 4 different survivors bring boon perks?
Easy, that's 4 different survivors not doing generators. A blessing at higher ranks. Don't killer mains complain about gen rushing? Now survivors have an excuse to not genrush and people still complaining. I would love to see my entire enemy team making boons instead of completing the objectives.
They have to find a totem, spend time creating the boon and then most likely run away to go do a gen, that's so much time wasted! And if I by chance find their boon, I'll stomp it out in 2 seconds. It's simple math stupid.
Killers are on a higher time pressure, but the survivors not progressing the game alleviates this pressure immensely, nobody said you have to chase people under the effects of boon totems, just don't chase them there and go chase somebody else, same Killer tactics apply here. If you don't think you'll kill someone, LEAVE THEM ALONE.
Why do you think people don't use Thrill?
Because it's trash at defending hexes. All it does is absorb time from the killer into protecting totems instead of protecting gens. We've already discussed why this won't happen if boon totems exist.
If your hex is going to die, then it dies, with or without Thrill.
Meanwhile, survivors can just select good totem spots and have less of an RNG factor compared to the killer's iteration.
Most good totem spots are hidden away and not in vital areas of the map. If they select a totem next to a gen, then the killer can find it easily. If they select a totem in the middle of nowhere where nobody can find it, then cool. If they want to go into the middle of nowhere to heal that's fine by me. People with self-care do that already and it's a blessing for me.
4 survivors with boon perks are practically covering the map. These perks come bundled with omega undying. Imagine Ruin coming with a free respawn, but worse in this case.
4 SURVIVORS ARE ABLE TO SET UP BOONS WITHOUT YOU NOTICING OR FINDING ANY OF THEM!?
Kinda sounds like you're just a bad killer in that case, how are 4 survivors going to find 4 out of the 5 totems in the game without you noticing ANY of them.
Even if they run small game or something like that, that's 2 perks out of the 4 they can bring dedicated to this meme totem build and that cannot be used against you. Think for like 2 seconds and you realize the bigger and bigger disadvantage survivors have to put themselves through to set up this doomsday scenario you envision every game to be like.

You mean the guy that nobody bothers reporting because "reporting doesn't do anything"?
Again,
Nobody bothers reporting them, because the reports have been proven not to work. Once BHVR actually fixes the problem, then people will use it. If your reporting system is so infamously bad that it's common knowledge not to bother with it, how is that the community's problem? The community is just responding to what they've been given, a waste of time report system that produces no results.
Why report, if you know the report doesn't do anything? It's not the community's job to fervently report cheaters, it's the developers' job to make it even the least bit challenging for them to cheat in the first place.
-
Ay ay, all I'm saying is.
The better I do in Dead by Daylight, the higher my mmr goes; the number of console players drastically goes down.

Boon Totems. By a long shot
People really like to downplay how annoying and strong old undying was.
People legit just didn't break totems because of how strong undying was, that basically meant permanent hexes for the killer which is insane.
Breaking totems as survivor is a lot more taxes than breaking totems as Killer.
You can easily defend your hex totem as killer, especially with old Undying, Survivors cannot defend their totems. Survivors also have to take ~20 seconds to rebuild their boon and it's only effective in a certain radius.
Baby Killer mains love to overplay Boon Totems, but they're not even close to how strong old Undying was.

@Orion said:
Reporting people does not do anything. The report system in DbD is so awful it's common knowledge at this point to just ignore it. Streamers even tell their communities not to bother reporting because it doesn't do anything.
The system is bad, yes, but not reporting is worse. It's no surprise there are so many hackers when you have people explicitly telling others "hey, just let them get off scot free".
The system is only bad because of the multiple steps you have to undertake. However, it does work. Now cue people saying otherwise.
Even if reporting does work, we still have to find and report every cheater and hope that someone in BHVR decides to ban them. This is not a good system and it does not work because the number of cheaters goes higher and higher.
You misunderstand, people don't cheat because players don't report them so they won't get banned.
People cheat because they know they won't get banned, so players don't report them.
Even then, the anticheat should be able to catch these blatant cheaters. I literally just got a cheater who advertises their twitch stream on their steam profile.
Does the same thing all cheaters do, speed hack, instant heal, instantly finish generators. This is ridiculous

I'm kinda scared about the potential of the stealth totem perk. SWFs will abuse it by bringing RPD or Lery's offering and four of these perks, and there is nothing killer can do about that.

SWF don't need Boon Totems, they were already gonna win. If anything Boon Totems are going to slow them down.

Boon Totems are slightly over tuned, but as a concept are fine.
The videos that people post online are legit best case scenarios with multiple boons overlapping each other. Legit if they removed the ability for them to stack, Boon Totems would be fine.
It takes like what, 16 seconds to set one up? 1 or 2 for the killer to break it? It's strong, but that's not a bad thing. I'd rather survivors be given something somewhat strong than for the game to remain the exact same for years and years and years.

Looking through your history its obvious you're a survivor main and anti killer considering you argue whenever a killer mentions anything on their mind.
Alright, since you wanna use my history as an argument, lets go through it then.
We can ignore the fact that you're reinforcing your preconceived conclusion about based off of cherry picking evidence that fits your narrative. But just so you already know, you've lost before I even have to go into my history, this is just a victory lap at this point.
Yesterday I edited a post I made about the new update that's been coming out:
I specifically said:
The only bad part about this update is the Deathslinger nerf and maybe Spirit kicking up dust. That Deathslinger nerf goes way too hard, you gotta give my boy something to compensate for cutting off all his arms and legs, that puny speedbuff while aiming down sight is nothing.
I don't like the Spirit kicking up dust while using her power, I think the directional power is plenty to offset how strong she is. I hope this doesn't make it to the final update but we'll see, maybe it's warranted.

Spirit changes

Addon passes for a lot of killers
Perk changes
A kill switch to disable aspects of the game without pushing out an update.
This is too good to be true. What did you guys do with the real BHVR? This good of an update? Even better, half of a good update? You guys acting suspicious.

Part 2 looking pretty spicy
Plague buffs
Survivors get numbers now on addons
More Perk changes
Hatch won't spawn except if there's one survivor alive
Boon totems?

Overall, very good quality patch. This is what we want to see in the future, idc how long it takes or how wack some of the changes might be. Anything to mix the game up is fine and this patch looks like a very good step in the right direction
Damn I'm so anti-killer I'm using reverse psychology on BHVR to convince them to nerf Spirit and Deathslinger even more than they already have.
We should also ignore this comment I made on the 24th where I said Trapper got one of the fattest buffs he's gotten since release which is 100% true btw.
Trapper legit got one of the fattest buffs he's gotten in the 5 years of this game existing

Let's also ignore the fact that this is in response to a comment complaining that Killers are getting nerfed and Survivors are getting buffed, in a patch where Pig, the worst killer in the game got buffed hard along with many other killers' addons.
If you're going to use that last part as evidence to your narrative, then I'd love to see you try to argue that Spirit did not deserve a nerf. I'd love to hear that argument go down.
But yeah, I don't play killer. In fact I'm anti Killer still.

The chains being hard to aim is fine, they should be hard to aim.
The problem is that even if you land them, they suck. Survivors can still vault windows, pallets, drop pallets. Like what's the point? I don't see much of a reason to use them outside of very few situations.
Survivors finding the box is way too easy. I feel like I hardly get any time with the chains fully built up until it solved, hell they find it way earlier than that too.
Pinhead seems bottom tier, easily. Not the worst killer but still, it's a shame.
There's also this comment I made on the 7th where I commented on how trash Pinhead's chains are and that they should be buffed.

And I know what you're thinking and you're right. I am so anti-killer, I want them to buff Pinhead so I can become a better survivor main and flex my looping muscles even harder.
It's definitely not because I've played Pinhead and know he's trash from first hand experience, of course not.
God I'm so devious. They should just lock my killer menu away in game since I'm not going to use it anyway. Wouldn't it be easier to assume that I just like making fun of dumb people after a new patch is announced rather than the fact that I'm anti one side or the other? You'd be surprised how often the simpler answer is the correct one.

And you aint as good as you think you are if you;re having such easy games. Maybe on your smurf account. There are too many safe pallets and there is so much gen rushing and tunnelling right now though i cant say i seen much camping only proxy camping.

Its not me thats getting tunneled. Its everyone. First to be hooked gets tunnelled. 9/10 that isnt me. So nice try
I never had a problem applying pressure to gens before SBMM....Once again. Nice try.
In conclusion, try harder to troll, maybe think it through next time.
Also if im that bad, then surely SBMM should be moving me down to match players with my "bad" skill set.
Also if im that bad, then surely SBMM should be moving me down to match players with my "bad" skill set.
It is, you're playing with people constantly getting tunneled yes?
I'm not, I would say I'm at a pretty high skillbracket considering all my teammates with a few rare exceptions are great.
They don't get tunneled, when the killer attempts it they usually have borrowed or know how to get out of that situation. Can loop decently well. Killers perform well as well, it's generally a good time. Only time I got camped/tunneled repeatedly was when SBMM first started... which was when everybody was at the same or similar mmr... and... get the picture?
You're playing with people constantly "genrushing?"
I'm not, and I also play with corrupt intervention often on Trickster and Huntress. I never have this problem of not being able to find anybody or getting genrushed because I actually know how to apply pressure to gens. Everybody gets injured, I drop chases when they aren't advantageous for me. I just play the game well.
Too many safe pallets? Why are you taking chases in the safe pallets then? Go somewhere else, let them be in safe pallet land and go kill the people outside of it. It's a shockingly simple solution to a shockingly simple problem.
Your purple rank before MMR doesn't mean anything. Anybody in red ranks can tell you that solo survivor was hell because the worst of DBD got into those ranks just by playing the game without actually being decent in it.
The only reason you think I'm trolling is because I'm not pampering you or fitting into your sphere of pity. You are bad and are getting paired with equally bad players. End of story.

@Konnor24 said:
Ill start by saying Im a 50/50 player, I like playing survivor with a friend or 2, and i like playing Killer when i have no one to play with.
My concerns come from both sides because to me right now, DBD as a whole is rather disgusting to play. At least for me but having read forum posts here lately, i know it is for many of you too.
Survivor Issues
The game has turned into a toxic tunnel and camp fest. I would say im medium to high MMR. Ive always considered myself maybe an old purple rank survivor. Every single game has turned into a game with endless tunnelling. I wish that was an exaggeration. When im playing solo, quite frankly i dont care, ill pop on with gens, ill save as and when i can. But when with friends obviously you want to save them and to see them tunnelled out of the game, even when i put myself in the way, or go down for them. (Sometimes the killers dont even pick me up and continue the tunnel and i get out)
What pains me to admit it is, because i play 50/50, i understand why killers camp and tunnel. It is a viable way to play imo, but it shouldnt be.
A joint problem to this seems to be the new SBMM. Im not sure why but when im solo or playing with a friend, At least two other survivors are quite frankly...bad. I try to check hours before and most seem to be at least 600 hours but they just go down so quickly, they cannot loop, They dont do gens, If they hear the slightest hint of a terror radius they run 50 yards away and only come back when the killers downed the person they were chasing.
One horror story recently was on a springwood map. The killer managed to kill my friend when we had 1 gen to go. 1 other survivor hadnt been hooked yet, the other on 1 hook. Me with no hooks. Im on a gen upstairs in the house, the killer had tinkerer so knew id got it close to popping, i managed to get it to maybe 90%. He chased me, and i looped for around 4 minutes. The killer wasnt that great, was obviously triggered and even stopped using his power because i could mind game him too well. He managed to hit me once. But not again. All the time im wondering...why is that last gen not popping. The killer finally gave up, maybe they wondered what the hell was going on aswell. But they gave up and left. Still injured i ran around to the first gen. 0% Progress. I thought ok lets go to the house gen cause the pallets here were broken. On the way i passed the 2nd gen. 0% Progress. Made it back to the house, was around 70%. The killer didnt kick that gen when chasing me and obviously went back there first so it regressed while i was making my way back to it. 2 other survivors did NOTHING for 4 whole minutes. Everyone ended up dying because i gave up, i wasnt going to loop anymore for these people with a combined 1.1k hours between them. And this is not an anomoly anymore. This has happened at least twice a week since SBMM came in. Survivors are now so terrified of not surviving they resort to doing nothing and hoping they can get the hatch. Total BP for that match at the end was me on around 25K, my friend who had died 10 minutes earlier on 18K and the other 2 around 10K. Im a game that lasted around 20 minutes.
SBMM seems to have caused so many issues and yet i am still in favour of it as a MM system. We just need more clarity. What constitutes a win? What makes your MMR go up? Do you get better MMR just for escaping than doing gens and totems? This IMO needs to be addressed because im so bored of being put with survivors who just refuse to play the game and care so much about escaping with 10K BP than anything else.
Killer Issues
This may just be my experience but im constantly put with survivors who gen rush endlessly. If i play anti gen rush perks, they have that countered. Ruin/Undying? They have small game & counterforce. Corrupt Intervention? Hide for 2 minutes in the corners. < (This happens a lot, i patrol the open gens yet not one gets started until the 2 mins are up) Every game becomes a 3 gen game. Theres no variety. If i dont tunnel or camp, i have to 3 gen and hope they dont have a toolbox.
Safe pallets are a huge issue atm. There just seems to be far too many safe pallets on a map. As a survivor i usually prefer to run a loop using windows so the pallets get saved, but as killer, its just pallet drop over and over because the meta atm is hold W against any killer that isnt Blight, Nurse or Spirit.
Again, may just be a me issue but i am consistently put with 3 or 4 man SWF groups. Im fine with it now and again but these are the reasons so many killers just tunnel and camp now. I've resorted to this quite a lot lately, sometimes it works, usually it doesnt because the survivors are too good for me. Yet SBMM does not put me with people on my level. Before SBMM id average a 3k per game. Now its a 1k...if that sometimes.
I honestly believe the devs are out of touch with their playerbase on the whole "what constitutes a win" topic. Its generally thought that its balanced around 2 kills and 2 survive. Yet very few killers think this is the case. Especially when the games have been extremely stressful.
Closing Thoughts
The game right now is pandered to a 3 or 4 man SWF group. Everything favours this. Solo survivors are at a huge disadvantage atm because they will usually be put with potato survivors. 2 man SWF's usually get put with 2 others who care more about getting out at any cost, than helping their team. Killers are at a disadvantage because its just too stressful to play against 3 or 4 man teams without resorting to tunnelling, camping or slugging, which usually then resorts in insults and toxicity post game.
Survivors wont like this, but ive always liked the idea of survivors not relying so much on their perks so much as their gameplay. Me and 3 others used to do a challenge for ourselves in which we couldn't use a perk if someone else was using it, and it was actually fun. It made us think outside the box and use our heads more. Killers also noticed it and asked why we wasnt all running DH/DS/BT and they said it was refreshing to see. There are over 100 survivor perks in the game now. Yet we see the same ones every game from every survivor unless they're trying to do a challenge. So a suggestion here is, if you're in a group, you need to work out who gets what perk. (Though this will not count for solo survivors and while were at it, make kindred baseline) Its varied, adds more challenge and makes people not rely on the same meta. I know this will never happen though.
Another idea is less perk per SWF. If you're solo, you get 4 perk sots. if a 2 man , 3 perk slots, in a 3 man, 2 perk slots each, 4k swf, 1 perk slot each.
An argument against that from survivors will be that it ruins their fun and experience. Well, being in a 4k will 9/10 ruin a killers experience, so if you dont care about that, no one should care about you.
I honestly believe there would be a lot less tunnelling and camping than there is now if there was some nerf to 3/4 man SWF. I didnt notice much of it pre SBMM. I even stopped taking DS since 2020 because it just didnt happen that often.
You get tunneled because you're the weakest link
You get genrushed because you don't know how to apply pressure to gens
In conclusion, you're bad.

That's cap. Spirit is the 2nd best killer in the game solely because nobody can figure out what she's doing, it's a pure guessing game and that's not fun.
I think they went a little too far, I think the directional audio nerf is fine, but I don't know how I feel about her kicking up dust, I hope they don't implement this.
You wanna talk about unwarranted, lets talk about Deathslinger's nerf. Dude was B Tier in basically all tier lists, he was only annoying but not great. His ability to quickscope was the only thing keeping him in B tier.
They're removing it completely in this patch and giving him a measly speedboost while ADS to compensate. Let's not forget about his fat 32 meter terror radius now, Deathslinger is garbage now.

GOD DAMN
Deathslinger can't quickscope anymore
Plague's infection is more annoying now
More Perk updates / buffs
Survivor addons have numbers now

Boon Totems

While sad, even if it was just the addon / perk changes this will still be the best update BHVR has pushed out in recent memory.
Pinhead was botched on release
Nemesis update and RPD map was botched on release
Trickster was insanely weak on release with no new map
Twins had no new map and the update as a whole was incredibly awful on release
That's a full year of awful chapter/paragraph updates meanwhile the chad mid-chapter updates bringing what everybody wants and more.
Please BHVR, I don't care how much longer it takes. We want more updates like this mid-chapter one. You guys are clearly capable of doing it

Getting constantly tunneled, camped, slugged, and gen rushed is even more unfun. Seriously what has this game come to? I don't wanna use DS, UB, and some other second chance perk but when I'm constantly getting left on the ground for minutes on end or getting tunneled out within minutes of the game it leaves me with no choice. I don't wanna have to use multiple gen slowdown perks but when I'm playing a Killer with no map mobility I'm forced to. Seriously, these issues were all present before SBMM but ever since it's been enabled it has really ramped up.
I have never run Decisive Strike or Unbreakable since the DS nerf and have had 0 problems.
Nobody is forcing you to use the same builds, you're just not good

if its worked then why do they keep removing it before a full week goes by because survivors (shockedpikachuface) were abusing it?
they'v "Introduced SBMM!" like 4 times now, 3 of them being complete failures.
Weren't those tests and this the full implementation of the SBMM system?
Yes, yes it was, and is.

What did you think that meant? Did you think I was bragging about my superior skill in competitive Dead by Daylight?
As if..
Not only that, you're the one who brought competitive play into the forefront anyway, or did you already forget what you wrote?
Didn't forget what i wrote. which i also provided what i said...
You didn't provide any proof that wasn't already known. I been said that Competitive Dead by Daylight is not the same game as what the other 99.9% of players are playing.
.....SBMM.. Are we even talking about the same thing at this point? Sbmm IS COMPETITIVE FOR A REASON. like i said.. you NEVER saw what a good swf can do to any killers. reguardless of skill...
Also i did provide proof... you didn't bother watching the videos in which i provided....
It's a completely different bubble that people like you can't seem to see out of. Again, if you reference the title of my discussion:
Again... You are so far out of touch on what We as a actual Competitive community are trying to prove... That SBMM will hurt Killers by a longshot.
Because you're trying to argue your point as if even a small fraction of the playerbase are in your position. SBMM is designed for people like you to stay out of the normal matchmaking pool, it's designed for the average player to be paired against other average players.
So am i not allowed to have Casual Fun once ina while? Am i not Allowed to even remotely turn off my brain and just relax abit while playing Killer? Am i Force to Sweat 24 / 7 due to being a Killer?
it's embarrassing because you flex your "knowledge" and "skill", but in reality you're just flexing how out of touch you are with the rest of the community.
When... did i flex. I never Mentioned Hours. At All.
That isn't even remotely similar. You should take up a part-time job as a waiter serving tables, that way the next time you say something wack you'll know to say "Pardon my Reach" beforehand so people can mentally prepare.
If this is supposed to be a insult.. I heard Better coming from kids back in CoD lobbies in 2012... Should go steal a quote from them..
Oh wait.. those lobbies would eat you up in a heartbeat.. Nevermind,

I'm only replying because my joke just went right over your head and I think that's extremely funny. Pretty telling considering you seem to have been missing the finer details of my comments all over this thread.
I do think it's really sad though that you think lobbies filled with 12 year olds screaming about your mom qualifies as insults, but you know. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
You didn't provide any proof that wasn't already known. I been said that Competitive Dead by Daylight is not the same game as what the other 99.9% of players are playing.

I included my comment in this one to ask a question. What's the point of quoting a specific line from my comment if you're not going to respond to it at all and just completely ignore what I'm saying.
I said pretty clearly, You didn't provide any proof that wasn't already known. Yet you somehow thought I said that you didn't prove proof, period? Do you need some help reading my comments? I thought I was typing in english but let me know if I need to speak a different language and I can accommodate the best I can.
Another suggestion I can recommend is reading my comments a few times over just to make sure you know what I'm saying. I understand that basic reading comprehension is a little hard so if you need the extra time then by all means take it.
Again... You are so far out of touch on what We as a actual Competitive community are trying to prove... That SBMM will hurt Killers by a longshot.
Except... it literally hasn't. Mostly because we're currently in a SBMM system and reception is generally positive.
Again, the only people getting hurt by this system is the sweaty competitive scene and the people who do not belong at the ranks they were placed at. People the majority of the community are specifically trying to avoid.
So am i not allowed to have Casual Fun once ina while? Am i not Allowed to even remotely turn off my brain and just relax abit while playing Killer? Am i Force to Sweat 24 / 7 due to being a Killer?
Play a different killer then. Last I checked you get 5 for free? That's not enough to tide you over for when you get bored?
When... did i flex. I never Mentioned Hours. At All.
Neither did I? Not sure where hours came into the conversation when I was specifically talking about skill and knowledge about the game. Maybe you got confused by the drastic turn you made into Call of Duty and thought for some reason that hours in a game automatically means you're more skilled at it? I certainly hope that's not what you think.
See my waiter comment was good because you could've said "Pardon my reach" before this sentence and I would've known beforehand to completely ignore it.

First off. Bbq is useless in a comp setting. it requires you to get hooks. and if you Ever played in a actual tournament. you can see how hard it is to get A hook..
Second. All the top tier survivors that ain't on console as we speak, run stuff like this. https://www.twitch.tv/xzafis/clip/PoisedCourageousNuggetsUncleNox-0Kxc0h2LQ6g7dwhq

Forth: Have you SEEN... games that last barely 5 minutes against good spirits / nurses / blight. Lemme tell you. I've seen Supahalf Lose against the best team in the world. and he's the best nurse i've ever seen..
My unserious, off comment turned into an actual conversation because of you so don't even try to come at me with "why bring up comp". You brought it up!

well, unless they do specify what exactly they mean with that its, sadly, just a bunch of empty words.
for example, lets just assume they count hooks now:
how are they going to tell the difference between someone making 2 hooks all game and then 6 in end game when the Survivors just run straight into them to try and rescue their friend (and probaply because they are pretty bored from that game) and someone making 7 hooks before the 5th gen popped and then deathhooking someone in endgame, so the others just leave?
I mean I don't know. I agree that we should be allowed to have some idea of what is being judged, but at this point we're just spit balling

@Mister_xD said:
i have two issues with SBMM:
1) its impossible for any MMR system to accurately depict the actual skill level of a player in this game. This game is way too reliant on loadouts and RNG to ever have something like this properly implemented.
2) this game is incredibly unbalanced in high levels. Survivors will dominate a vast majority of the games there and unless you play the sweatiest Killers with the sweatiest builds you will just get absolutely bullied up there. I've tried "normal" Killers with "normal" builds and playing "fair" in both of the last SBMM tests and every single time i tried i got absolutely awful results. yeah, technically speaking i didnt lose any games (=safetypip), but in reality i struggled at getting even a single kill. and if i ever were to get more kills than that, then that would be thanks to me either hardtunneling someone or me camping the kill out.
the worst part? the devs are very well aware of how unbalanced and unfun of an experience this is. And yet they have said themselves on multiple accounts that they will not be balancing the game around this, because 90% of the playerbase arent there, so they'd rather balance around the "lower" ranks.
the amounts of stress and frustration you have to dig through as a Killer to play this game on a high level are just way too high and they will be driving players like me away from this game, if that becomes the standart experience.
and i think its an absolutely awful idea to balance around a kill / escape goal in general. the pure amount of kills and escapes says nothing about how balanced or fun the match was for anyone involved - an example: by the logic of having 2 die and 2 escape, if i just play Bubba, facecamp the first Survivor and then use NOED to instadown and facecamp a second one, i had an, according to the Devs balance goal (which MMR is most likely going to be rating our matches after), perfectly balanced and good game.
so essentially, the only thing that really kept me playing this game was the fact that i was not being matched with people who played "on my skill level" - because those kind of games are easily the worst experience you can have in this game as a Killer. You just feel powerless - like, the entirety of my momentum is based on the Survivors screwing up. the better the Survivor player is, the more infrequent said fuckups are going to be, which makes easy second chance Perks, such as Dead Hard, even more annoying and even more devestating to see - yet also even more common, because the Survivors of course can see the potential with those Perks.
There is a good reason why the only two "viable" high level Killers in this game are Spirit and Nurse - and that is, because they both are not reliant on the Survivors making a mistake to win chases, while also being mobile enough to somewhat keep up with gen speeds.
so if SBMM actually does go live without either some massive improvements in those fields or an alternative for casual players like me (e.g. a "competetive" move with SBMM on and a "casual" mode with SBMM off), then i will most likely be quitting this game for good (for reference, i quit the last SBMM test after just a few days because my games had consistently been that horribly unfun - and i havent played it since)
and i think its an absolutely awful idea to balance around a kill / escape goal in general
They've admitted that they used to judge by this, but have since stopping doing so replacing it with a system that judges your performance based on a number of objectives throughout the game.
I wish I could find the thread on here, but yeah it was a Dev themselves that confirmed it won't be judged solely off of kills and escapes.
Of course, they won't tell us all the parameters they're judging by, but you know at least even they recognize kills and escapes don't mean everything.

You'd have to always play on your A-Game even in normal matchmaking. But hey, that's better for you isn't it? Wouldn't you be better off with more games that are as sweaty and as difficult as comp DBD?
Honestly, the best way to out competitive players is to have them do it themselves. They're so proud 😂

Maybe. Just maybe. You should realize just how broken a vast majority of maps are. How broken gen speeds are. How unfair a lot of the game is at the highest levels.
Do you play at the highest level?
Do I play at the highest level?
Does, like 99% of the playerbase play at the highest level?
No. You want to play sweaty, play against equally sweaty players.

Supahalf: Best Nurse Player in the world Against Team Oracle: Best Team in dbd, won multiple tournaments, BoTB. Supahalf scrims against them and won maybe... 1-2 times? out of like 10 or so games.
You're not a tournament player,
You already assume i am not a tournament player. But in-fact. i am. I am a Captain of my own Comp Team. We played in many tournaments. Ranging from Dead by-Esports to Wheel of Fate to many others. Learn up on some people before you make a guess.
NOED is a viable perk if you're bad and plan on losing,
Are you a Idiot? Do you not know what a experienced 4 man swf is? Have you Ever faced a actual legit 4 man swf that basically gen rushed your ass to hell and back and 4 outed you? Or are you only a "Survivor Main" that believes there is no such thing as Gen rushing and Shun a killer if he camps and tunnels in Order to win...
Just because survivors finish the gens fast, does not mean they are genrushing
THAT IS GEN RUSHING. WHAT DO YOU MEAAAAN. you're either a troll. or a very entitled survivor main. Go play killer against a well coordinated 4 man swf with these "Meta killer Perks" for like a week. and then come talk to me. I'll wait...
People aren't looping you for 3 hours because they're running stretch rez. they're doing it cause they're better than you
So Pre-throwing and Holding W is considered good..? Uh huh... again. go play killer for a week against a Coordinated 4 man swf. you won't last a week without complainin'..
You cannot say "All the top tier survivors are running stretched res" when you know 100% that is cap. You can't even physically prove that.
Yes i can.. The Comp players that PLAY this game on pc. literally play on Stretch Res. go look at any dbd tournament team. Stretched res out the ass.
Proof? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou8eqghyNik look how stretched that is, And against Spirit too nonetheless.
Oh you wanna play wraith at High mmr? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3sO-BAgom8 Too bad.
Twins? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S-egPqOs7U
I can keep going on dude...
In the end. YOU are the one here inexperienced. YOU are sitting here with no proof backing up what High SBMM is like. and THIS. is what a comp scene looks like.
You Sir. Need To get more Educated..
Edit: Found a Nurse video for you too. Despite him winning with amazing plays. look at his build.. and guess what. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OUo6CKy-qo&t=549s Ruin / Undying still up. with that Noed and corrupt. they rushed the gens still without breaking the totems. (i believe this was old undying before changes. don't quote me on that)
You already assume i am not a tournament player. But in-fact. i am. I am a Captain of my own Comp Team. We played in many tournaments. Ranging from Dead by-Esports to Wheel of Fate to many others. Learn up on some people before you make a guess.
Imagine playing competitive Dead by Daylight and spending your time losing debates on the Dead by Daylight forums. Shoulda just kept that one to yourself buddy lmao.
You want to know why I didn't know nor bother to care if you played competitive DbD? Because nobody cares about competitive DbD. If anything you're just proving my point that competitive DbD's bubble is nothing similar to normal DbD's meta.
I really do love the tone of this reply though, you really did think you got me. Please stop replying, you're only making yourself and competitive DbD look worse.

"If you use it at a vault where you can get to a new loop. The killer will just drop the chase and your lithe was useless."
That's usually the intention. You want to escape the killer.
Unless you're that flashlight clicking survivor who refuses to touch gens.
You don't want to escape the killer though. Ideally you'd stay at a healthy range away from them but still occupying their time. You want to buy time so that your team can finish the generators.
Why would I trust one of the potatoes on my team to loop the killer for 5 hours when I can just do it myself?
Lithe doesn't do that, it either does nothing or ends the chase. If the chase ends, that is bad because you are now encouraging the killer to go after someone else and taking a gamble as to whether or not they're good enough to lose them or not get downed immediately.
Perhaps Lithe will be good in SBMM, but in this ranked matchmaking, Lithe is a risk not worth taking.

- Okay, don't run BBQ then. It's the luxury perk. Ruin / Undying / Tinkerer still objectively the best killer loadout in the game. You will not lose gens with this build, especially if you're playing Blight/Nurse/Spirit like you said.
- You're not a tournament player, I can probably safely say 99.9% of people playing this game are not tournament players. We are people queueing into matchmaking and finding people. Against the average and even above average survivor, Ruin / Undying / Tinkerer is more than enough to net you 2 - 4 kills. If you don't with this build you played bad because I highly doubt you're getting tournament sweat squads every game.
Second. All the top tier survivors that ain't on console as we speak, run stuff like this.
Again, this is a fringe population of the playerbase, not the norm. Stop bringing up an exploit that you know for certain the majority of people do not run and acting like it happens every game.
People aren't looping you for 3 hours because they're running stretched rez. They're doing it because they're better than you.
You cannot say "All the top tier survivors are running stretched res" when you know 100% that is cap. You can't even physically prove that.

NOED is a viable perk if you're bad and plan on losing. I figure most people would prefer if the game did not go to the endgame, and therefore run perks to prevent the endgame from occurring.
The fact that you're even mentioning genrushing makes me think you're a scrub player who doesn't know what they're talking about, taking "pro players" words as gospel.
Just because survivors finish the gens fast, does not mean they are genrushing. They are finishing them fast because you don't know how to pressure gens and are chasing a single person for 3 hours.
Forth: Have you SEEN... games that last barely 5 minutes against good spirits / nurses / blight. Lemme tell you. I've seen Supahalf Lose against the best team in the world. and he's the best nurse i've ever seen..
I don't know who Supahalf is and honestly I do not care who Supahalf is. Supahalf has absolutely nothing to do with this conversation.
The "pro scene" of Dead by Daylight and the scrub scene that you and I play in are not the same thing. Stop referencing things that you and I will NEVER EXPERIENCE.
You are buying into the content creator propaganda of them complaining that SBMM is bad because all they will get is sweaty games. They will get sweaty games because they themselves are sweaty players. They are some of the best players in the game, so they deserve to play against similarly skilled players.
You and I are not pro players, we are not the best in the game. So why the hell would we be paired against the best in the game? Think Verconissp Think!
P.S. fourth
-
This is one of the reasons why skill based matchmaking is a bad idea.
shows a screenshot of how trash rank based matchmaking is
Man, you the type of person people who want SBMM want to avoid.
-
Lithe is properly rated.
Trash. Can't extend loops, can't give you head starts. Can't do anything.
If you use it at a vault where you can get to a new loop. The killer will just drop the chase and your lithe was useless.
If you use it at an unsafe vault, the killer will more likely than not just catch up to you anyway.
Lithe is bad no matter what, doesn't even have meme potential like Head-On.
If you on console, just run Sprint Burst :/

So players that play with Stretch Res. Abusing this by looking over the loop. making mindgames unmindgameable is fun for the killer right?
Cause i'm sorry but. SBMM will hurt this game. I'll see alot more blights / nurses / spirits with Ruin / undying / noed / corrupt...
How much of the survivor population do you think play with stretched res?
You're speaking of a very fringe population considering I'm pretty sure console players can't even do this.
I think it's safe to say that a very good chunk of players are on console. So PC players are only a portion of the community, and people who play with stretched res are therefore a small portion of another portion of the community.
Please don't be ridiculous. You're thinking doomsday when more likely than not you will never experience this, much less notice it happening in your games.
What's next? You're going to say you run into tournament SWF sweat squads every game?
P.S. Who are the losers playing Nurse/Spirit/Blight and running Ruin Undying NOED and Corrupt?
Lmao why do they need NOED when they're already running top tier perks? At least try to make your doomsday loadout seem realistic.
The real meta build is Ruin Undying Tinker BBQ. Literally unbeatable, you won't even reach the endgame if a sweaty boi running this build so NOED useless.

@Squirrel_Thicc said:
Sbmm has never worked in this game. Every test has been a failure, so excuse me if I'm wary about it being permanently activated.
Except the evidence shows that it has worked.
I and many others have said that it works as intended. We get great games as survivors working together as they should, and killer games are generally more challenging as people aren't throwing at the beginning of every match. People generally at my skill rating make better decisions.
By definition, the SBMM is working as intended and many in the community can back up my claims, just look at this thread and see the highest upvoted comments.
If it works so well for me and many others and doesn't work well for others, I can only assume a few things.
If you are a survivor player
- You are a player who has thousands upon thousands of hours in the game and therefore should be paired against high skilled killers who pick Spirit and Nurse and run all meta perks.
- You are a bad player who was benefitting from the old system and in a higher rank than you should be.
If you are a killer player
- Again, you are a player who has thousands upon thousands of hours in the game and therefore should be paired against high skilled survivors (not necessarily SWF) who run all meta perks and play optimally.
- You were benefitting off of the old system which had lowerskilled survivors in high ranks and are now being paired against survivors who actually know what they're doing. <--- This is where most killers in purple and red ranks fit in, including myself. These killers are not necessarily bad because they were just playing the hands that they were dealt.
Every single time someone has complained about SBMM, they easily fit into the #2 category.
If you are a survivor player, I'm sorry. You for once in your life have to actually pull your weight and be a team player. I'm sorry that you cannot be a burden on your team anymore. There are 3 other people on your team who would like to have an enjoyable game. Please be considerate and actually try to win.
If you are a killer player, I'm sorry you actually have to try for once to get your 4K. It is extremely annoying for a lot of killer players to join a game and instantly get a disconnect because you are playing a killer the survivor doesn't like, or because they got downed first. Nobody wants to deal with this.

@DemonDaddy said:
Given the vast numbers by which survivors outnumber killers, I doubt matchmaking will improve for killers. Will probably have low rated killers still paired against high rated swf teams to minimize ques.
I personally don't think this will happen, as evident by the queue times I think a good number of people had improved games after SBMM was implemented.
The thing is about killers, is that a lot of them, myself included, probably shouldn't be rank 1 or red ranks.
You have to remember that it is extremely easy to pip up as survivor, that means people who aren't good at the game are still considered "good players" simply because they play enough to grind out the ranking system.
When they get paired against people who actually belong in red ranks, of course they're going to be upset because the game is assuming they're good and should go against good players. This happened to me as well where I actually had to play well vs the survivors I paired against, no more easy kills. These weren't SWFs or sweaty players or anything. They were just good players who were actually trying to win.
Of course, this is what I want though, and I understand some people don't want this. The people that don't just have to derank their mmr; just grit through it until you get properly calibrated.
Eventually those killers will be put in lower rated matches, but I don't think it's fair to assume that they'll get paired with high ranked teams when the evidence doesn't show that during the tests.
I really do think BHVR finally did a good job for once with something they're implementing and I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that it will work as intended. It took forever, 2 years to be specific, but it really does look like it SBMM works.
