If they are still playing, it doesn't matter. Survivors NEED to stop playing if they want BHVR to listen.
I sincerely hope bhvr doesn't listen to anything you post about.

My intentions are: I enjoy memeing. I rarely enjoy killing. I had to kill survivors for the Tome challenges and I didn't feel good doing it. But chasing and using a killer's power is fun, I enjoy that. Plus, I'm mostly playing on the Switch right now, and that's painful as killer. If I cared about killing while I play on the Switch, I would actually cry. That's how bad the performance is. I can have fun messing around and chilling; I can't have fun if I try to get downs and hooks. If BHVR ever optimizes the game or brings the promised cross-progression with PC, then maybe playing killer for real will be enjoyable.
If the game had a casual mode I could queue up there, but there's only the one game mode.
Nothing wrong with that. By the way you were talking i thought you were afking or something

Tbh. At least when I look at my games there aren't nearly as many DCs/Throwers as people claim.
I'm doing a little SoloQ experiment, so there are a number of matches I tracked. Over the course of 21 matches there were 3 DCs. One of which was absolutely justified (killer from the other side of the universe; hitting from a mile away. Literally; swung at the one end of the long wall outside main on Haddonfield and I wondered wth he was swinging at since I was almost at the other end of the wall. It was a hit.), one was justified in my opinion but I know there are people who'd disagree (Pig tunneling people with traps off hook&straight to boxes. Sure. You can do that. But it's a v scummy way to play and I find it absolutely reasonable to tap out and move on asap) and one was just a straight up ######### moment (one gen down, killer downed someone, that someone DCd before killer could even pick them up).
In short: I don't share the experience where "survivors throwing" seems to artificially inflate anything.
(If anything what inflates kill rates it's various forms and the mix of camping, tunneling and/or slugging. Not as some kind of last resort because gens have been flying - but from the very first encounter with a survivor at five gens. But I think at least as far as "unreasonably extreme" form of these three tactics are concerned everyone is on the same page. They're valid strategies - within reason. And there's been an awful lot of crossing the line. --- And I'm mentioning this here because over time I've observed that these tactics and suiciding/dcs also go hand in hand.)
Yes the experience's are subjective for sure. I've had the opposite both killer and survivor. Lots of rage quits, a lot more then usual. A killer playing scummy or bs in a match doesnt justify rage quitting. It kills the team and ruins the match. If a killer is camping and tunneling that doesnt guarantee a loss. Its when the survivors give up because the killer is doing this which secures the win. Which just feeds more into those tactics. Justifying what they are doing works.
Tunneling and camping should be addressed properly but we wont get any kind of proper data to help address it when people throw.

I had two matches in a row today where survivors refused to do gens and leave.
In the first one, they did 4.99999 gens. They got the final gen a tap away and then refused to finish it. I never kicked it. I got tired of waiting and killed them all. I usually wait the survivors out, but it had gone way past 10 minutes and I wanted to get into another match so I can actually take advantage of the Double Rift Fragment event.
In the following match, they refused to touch gens at all. 10+ minutes later, not a single gen was done. Like I said, I usually wait that crap out, just put the controller down and go get a snack or something, but my matches are going long enough as is at times, I'm not sitting around for an hour not earning XP.
The past few days have been really stupid. No other way to say it. I've had weird matches before, but never so many in such a short period of time.
You might want to not just let the do gens and leave. As bad as those who rage quit. Just not playing the game properly hurts. Regardless of your opponents intentions.

Idk man I've played a lot of both of them and I'd say it's almost neck and neck though in terms of power level.
oh in power? Like you said depends whos playing but a ph that doesnt care about survivors rule book is better imo.
-
Also a killer using a bs tactic does not justify a rage quit
-
weird post lol I think PH was implemented better. The zombies on Nemesis side are the best thing otherwise the character in dbd is not a good representation of Nemesis from RE
-
I just made a post about this. Its not a conspiracy like you're thinking but the amount of rage quitting I've seen after the patch has been way worse. Not dcs. Which by itself will skew data, and is an issue. Like rage quitting in general.

But again, more balanced for who? Because solo q did get worse, so how is it MORE balanced?
It got more balanced for killer. Which was needed. Why do think that this isnt part of said balance? Killers need to be able to keep up with good teams. In the previous patch there were many games where this wasnt possible. This patch helps with that to a degree. Solo q should be next. Balancing the game isnt one sided like you seem to think

You do realize for something to be balanced it means to be fair for all parties involved right? It clearly is not balanced if "solo q was left behind".
Yes I am aware. Hence the word more before balanced. I didnt claim that it was perfectly balanced just more balanced, and it is.

Balanced for killers because that's all this forum seems to care about /hj
Because me prefaceing the post means nothing right? I already addressed survivor issues that need to be dealt with. It doesnt justify the rage quits.

@Marigoria said:
Sure, the dcs and suicides are making solo q miserable, but lets not pretend that the killer buffs, including tunneling and camping, didn't add to that as well.
I just don't understand, first you say solo q got worse this patch, "left behind big time", but then you say the game got more balanced. Balanced for who exactly?
The tunneling and camping has been an issue since before this patch. They are outliers and are being talked about extensively already. Enough that I think the devs will address it eventually. However the amount of rage quits has skyrocketed in my experience.
The game is more balanced then where it was. Soloq is still left behind. Those 2 aren't mutually exclusive. Now killers can compete more with good teams. Bad teams or teams that arnt coordinated enough are still left behind. Where as it was killers rarely can compete with good teams, and bad teams can compete with killers. All of that obviously has many factors including who the kilers are and if either side is using busted stuff.

It should be obvious by now that the last patch broke the game. Survivors, especially solo survivors, have no chance of winning against a buffed killer across the board. Matches I have witnessed survivors have stopped trying. Nothing was done to help the survivors in this patch, while massively buffing killers. After watching an hour of streaming this morning to get a little atmosphere of the climate of the game. Killer streamers waiting in long queues and steamrolling every single match. It was so boring watching killers 4K every match. Not sure how they had a thousand watching but they did.
Survivor perks are not working. OTR is being countered by hitting someone off the hook. Perks are too weak or not working.
Killer queues have crashed because so few wants to play in an unfun and unbalanced match.
I think they thought this patch would work because they listen to only killer mains and streamers. Unfortunately, this very small loud minority is not how the game should be played or who it should be balanced for.
Weird. As someone who plays soloq only when i play survivor I've been making it out half+ my games. I know I get stronger killers then you since you rage quit most of your matches. I wonder what the problem is?

I can see why people don't like him. Everyone has different tastes. Also I will say 1 thing though. You said why isn't it just Birkin a that point, honestly that could be said for Nemesis in DBD as well.
The reason why I wouldnt say that for Nemesis is because his base form with out his transforming can stand on its own as a concept. Which Nemesis transforming is the only thing he has in common with Birkin but it was done better with Birkin.

Then again, I wasn't really that excited for Ringu either, and yet it ended up being one of my favorite chapters of all time, so I haven't completely lost hope yet.

People didn't like it even before bhvr put in those strange restrictions. I had arguments with people when the filter was new because they told me it would limit them in their freedom of speech when they couldn't trash talk others.
I find it bizarre that in a game thats about murdering people and the devs are ok with trash talk that we need a filter like this. People are still getting across the nasty things through it like telling people to one hook themselves. The only thing its good for is to hinder speech. Its just dumb. Zero thought put into it imo. It was a band aid fix so they dont have to ban the nasty people because they are paying customers.

They already lost and probably don't feel good at the moment, why in the ever loving fck is there any need to rub it in?
Graceful in Victory and defeat.
There is nothing to say for the victor to the loser that does not come across as belittling or condescending.
Even a GG wp after a total sweep is not necessary because it obviously wasn't a good feeling game for the loser. And the better option after such a game is saying nothing by reading the mood.
I also don't understand why people need a Chatfilter to be removed. What is it that they need to see other peoples spewed garbage.
Chat filter needs to be fixed or removed because i cannot say stuff like town or iri. Thats why people dont like the chat filter.

All that build up for him to be a generic not well thought out character. As in he was built like he was going to be different and more interesting then your average re villain. So much wasted potential with that character for him to just be a 5 year olds idea of power scaling with the matrix bs and the revisit into final mutations that all the games did with every last boss since Birkin.
In dbd hes either going to be matrix wesker which is lame, or hes going to be a mutated wesker. Which at that point why isnt it Birkin?
Im going to humor it and hope that bhvr can make him interesting, and im happy for the people that like him. I just cant stand him.
-
Like his vapid uninspired confrontation in 5? Sorry i just think wesker sucks ill leave now lol
-
You shouldnt be trying to get out of a match. Just ruins it for everyone else you’re playing it with. I personally dont mind legion.
i cant stand nurse and blight. After this patch blight will be more tolerable since he cant hold down a match with the typical blight build. Nurse is just busted as poo and im solo q with higher mmr so if its a nurse shes likely good but my teammates not so much.
A lot of bubba players play bubba like turds so hes kind up there too but a good bubba is ok to face.
i like messing with hag and trappers traps so those matches are usually fun unless they are planning on just camping a hook.
I also like stealing pokeheads box. Idk why but I find it amusing.
Wraith clown is a bit boring to face.
i actually am not a big fan of PH because if hes bad it just feels like im picking on someone trying to practice their m2 and if their good they’re oppressive. Half of the good ones like to hard tunnel too.
I like huntress because if she smokes me its impressive but if shes unable to its fun to mind game her.

i dont need it but i dont see any issue with others wanting it. It Seriously hurts nothing. If they want to show others the effort they put in its their choice to. To sit there and jab at people for this seems passive aggressive and pointless.

I'm pretty sure they've said several times they cannot differentiate between a lost connection (for whatever cause) and an intentional quit, so obviously aren't tracking them.
Whether they can add such a tracker I do not know, or if so when it's planned. @MandyTalk could you or another mod clarify?
Im about 99% sure its they refuse to put effort into a system to differentiate it. As i said all it would take is some basic coding to implement something to differentiate the two. Unless they have something that i am unaware of in place. Which i seriously doubt.
-
I think if the thing was added they would have to make its mimic ability just flavor. You cant base the power off of it. From a lore perspective it doesnt make any sense for it to be transforming into the survivors anyway. They should make it more of the transformed thing and make a creature killer. The various things through the movies can be skins since they function similarly.
my major issue with the thing joining is that its just too lethal to humor a full trial. Contact is death. So how do you remedy that?
-
@BringShaggytoDBD said:
No one cares if you have an exclusive skin, charm, background, rank or whatever. No one cares how long you've been playing the game for.
I don't understand why people on this forum are crying so much for a stupid reward. Find joy in playing the game instead of comparing dick sizes. It's so pathetic and immature to feel so entitled to a reward simply to show off. How much attention do you seriously crave? You didn't cure cancer ffs, you literally played a video game.
Theres nothing wrong with being proud of how much time and effort you put into something you enjoy. No matter how insignificant that thing is. If people want to show off those achievements the only people who have an issue with it are those who do not have it. Which is pretty petty. They want to feel like the time they put in ment something. Which impacts you zero.
-
Ada is fine. But i would have went with Birkin. Wesker is such a turd. Heres hoping they implement him well enough so its not an issue.
-
I dont have a favorite I like them all. So I'm going to do them all because I'm bored and this is fun. Not all have balance in mind I just want to throw fun or crazy ideas out there.
Trapper- Replace one of the springs and give him the ability to place wall traps that spring out when a survivor gets to close. Nothing changes so you can disarm them it would just force the survivors to look at the walls and the ground.
Wraith- I actually think it would be fun to have an add on make his terror radius shift around the map intermittently while cloaked. Would be fun to pair with his clappers.
Billy- something dumb now. Can ram non regressing gens for an explosion making them loose a percentage of progress. Gives me an excuse to ram into more stuff lol
Nurse- Holding your blink for a set amount of time makes you undetectable.
Huntress- Something fun now. Make it so she can press ctrl to throw around corners in a more horizontal arc. Obviously its a meme add on and not be too powerful but i think that if it went around in like a C pattern it would be fun to try and go for trick shots.
Myers- Replace the tombstone piece with an add on that gives him the ability to warp to the other side of the map 32m away from a survivor. with a cooldown. It would have the effect he has in the movies of somehow being in front of people after they saw him somewhere else.
Hag- I cant think of anything at the moment but give her another hex to place that does something besides teleporting. Kind of like clowns bottles.
Doc- I like the idea of giving the killers more mobility so how about like pinhead he can teleport to one of his phantoms with a big warning and cooldown. OP beat me to it lol great idea though
Bubba- Make an add on give his tantrum some serious speed. I think itd be funny to bump into thing and then the survivors would taunt him then here comes bubba lol
Freddy- He needs more effects then pallets and snares. I'm not going to suggest anything like that but I think his pallet add ons should let you choose between the two since neither are crazy powerful.
Pig- More traps. Make it so that the hooks force the survivors to play a trap mini game to survive the hook state. I think this should just be basekit for pig but if we cant get that then maybe just an add on.
Clown- More colored bottles. I think they should just go nuts with this and make a bunch of different effects. Like a green to make gens regress faster. They can be add ons but I think at minimum he should have purple and yellow then add a third or fourth through add ons. This will give the devs an excuse to take away his more annoying addons and make his gameplay more interesting.
Spirit- An add on that forces her into phasing after a stun where she could break the pallet in stun but at the cost of half the time of her phase. It would make for an interesting dynamic for mindgames.
Legion- Add another legion member to the trial. Park them like victor.
Plague- Add a different plague to the match. Locusts could obscure vision like dredges darkness and obscure her TR everytime she gets red puke.
Ghostface- I think somehow incorporating a phone would be fun. This add on would add a phone to the survivors and would periodically ring once or twice.
Demo- I like the idea of killers borrowing from other killers kits so what if demo had an add on that after a time with a cooldown brought the survivors into the upside down. Where he could have faster teleport and maybe more portals would pop up randomly during it.
Oni- Start in blood fury, and maybe make it so he gets more to his meter or needs less after each gen is done. He needs better iri's
Slinger- Half of his add ons need reworked Maybe make one of his iri's bring back his old TR if they are so against reverting that horrible change.
PH- The only add ons that are worth anything for PH are the range ones. He needs a pass desperately. Once again I'd give him some mobility and make it so he can rise out of trenches placed at a substantial cooldown.
Blight- Give him an addon to where if he holds his power button can nonlethal charge across the map at the cost of all his tokens.
Twins- Give them the ability to fake switching between one another. A bit of a meme add on and once the team knows then its less impactful.
Trickster- Place speakers on the map and while main event is charged and during it plays his menu music and he looses his TR and lullaby
Nemesis- Give him an add on that makes his movement match his animation. lol It could have a cooldown and be non lethal. I just find it weird that Nemesis is so slow when in the his own games hes really fast
Pinhead- Make one of the addons make the puzzlebox an actual puzzle box where you have to figure out how to solve it in a minigame. No idea if this is even possible but it sounds neat to me.
Artist- Give her 1 bird that automatically triggers if someone walks into it. Feels like pinheads Fang.
Sadako- Make it so that one person always has a tape and needs others to watch it in order to pass it to them. Something to be more in line with the flims
Dredge- Make it so that the survivors need to find something to stop nightfall. Maybe check lockers for it. A bit pinhead but I like the idea of add ons changing up what killers do.

People will literally just Alt + F4, there are also definitely programs that can force a crash on another program, this won't fix anything, DCs aren't that detrimental to the game honestly.
Then they can get the normal ban. Still no reason why the button cant just slap a 30 min time out on people dumb enough to use it

I dont think 1 rage quit should be 30 mins but over time it should build up to that pretty quick. I know some players will say "My PC crashes legit every 2 matches. Thats unfair to me!" Well Im sorry but if your PC crashes that often, maybe you should upgrade or play something else.
30 min got clicking the leave match buttons seems completely fair to me

I mean at that point why even have a leave match button? And is it fair for a killer who is being held hostage to be forced to stay in the game or face a hefty penalty? Or a survivor held hostage (bodyblock by the killer as the last one left, hatch unclosed)
Completely different issues that also need to be addressed. I think that theres easy fixes there with putting in a match timer and a check to see if players are afk. So if its held hostage after so long the match ends.

I'm completely ok with this. They will get the soft bad of 5 min like we have now. I dont think that everyone who owuld do it is smart enough to understand the correlation, and should be punished for doing it. Theres no reason to not up the leave a match ban.

They cannot tell the difference between a legitimate lost connection and a ragequit.
That is just not true. Theres a button trigger for it. A crash doesnt cross that check. If theres not a built in check for it yet. Its not hard to program in. They have one for are you sure about that? They can have one with a strict timeout.

Solution: Add chat censor as an option to the settings and make it enabled by default.
Also add the option to disable chat completely, requiring a restart to change so you can't turn it on or off after a game. Add a big nice icon right next to anyone who cannot enter post game chat, including console players. It should help queue times since now survivors that wait for 15 minutes to tell the killer to kill themselves will just leave chat once they see the killer has chat disabled.
I mean I keep chat hidden, but hidden is not the same as disabled. I don't see the issue here. It's 90% just verbal abuse, may as well just let people turn it off.
But its not. It might be for you but for me the majority are fun or nice conversations. Those people who are telling others to one hook themselves need to be reported and punished. Everyone else shouldnt be punished because of a couple of bad apples.

I think all he needs is a faster base holding-knife speed. If he has to throw more knives to get an injure, then he should at least be encouraged to hold his knives more at a loop and exponentially slow down as he fires them like he already does. Otherwise some other things may just be a quality of life change like holding more knives.
With the purposed change there would be balancing to iron out. So speed and knives to injure would need to be played with.

Removing his blades to slowdown Survivors as a "buff" to nerf his chase doesn't sound like a good deal at all to me.
I bet removing blades would took max similar time as mend which in that case it is not worth trade off. Also since when is removing his blades aka mending fun for Survivors? They allready hate Legion allready. So all in all, making his chases take longer (direct nerf + less fun to play as) to make it bit slowdown (not fun for Survivors as well) Isn't really a win/win to me. All in all It would be a quite a big nerf for him.
Honestly imo he is fine as he is now. I don't mind him as a solo Survivor and he is decent fun as killer. He is not strong.
It creates a scenario where he doesnt have to commit to a chase fully to down someone. He can return later or benefit from some game slowdown. Current trickster is oppressive in chase and his cooldown on blades makes it so he has to commit to the down or he wasted his time. Obviously with the method that im describing there would have to be some testing.
This is different then mending in that theres not a timer to remove them just a threat of picking up the chase where you left off with him. So it wont inhibit survivor game play like mending does. You could make it so that another teammate can remove the blades quicker. Deincentivizing removing them in chase. Hes also trading lethality for map pressure and game slowdown. So is it a nerf? I dont think so if implemented properly.
As he is now hes oppressive in the 1v1 and not fun at all for survivors. As killer he has no pressure so against good teams hes also not fun. These changes would also make camping less rewarding. Since if played right he can guarantee a trade.

While I don't think kindred being basekit is a bad idea, it won't help.
1: if solo gets buffed to swf lvl. There will be a mass exodus of killers. The game is frustrating enough. Just wanted to throw that out there.
2: perks are not the solution to solo. I run kindred everytime I solo and randoms still refuse to do gens. Hoping the killer will leave. You can give them more tools than they know what to do with. It won't change a thing if they don't use them. There is nothing bhvr can do to help randoms git gud. That can only be accomplished by playing the game and learning from your mistakes.
Its not buff survivor and thats it. This is why I prefaced the post. It will require testing and balancing. Bringing solo up to swfs level and balancing for it is the only way this game gets balanced.

This may be a hot take, I don't know - but I don't think killers need a compensated buff if they give kindred basekit (again, potentially without the aura reading, potentially with).
Whilst, sure, this information would make solo q stronger when a survivor is hooked in particular, it's only an element of what makes SWFs strong compared to Solo Qs. They still will not have the slew of information that a SWF team gets in general throughout the match, such as who is being chased (assuming it's not the obsession), who is almost finishing a gen, which gen is almost finished, where they're leading the killer too, where that stealthed GhostFace currently is, etc.
As a killer player, I don't think making this change would suddenly cause me to start losing way more games than I usually would have in general. That said, they've already given killers a fairly decent buff with increased gen speeds and slightly quicker catch up mechanics and I'd argue these things already make solo Q somewhat harder.
The buff I think you're looking over is that with kindred basekit they'll get an idea of how to play more efficiently. Which gens have been worked on and for how long. Say its late game and you're wondering where your team is so you can slam that last gen. Kindred also gives you that option. There is a possibility it doesnt effect balance but my money is on that it will. If it does killers will need something to compensate.
