I made a post a while back about breakable walls that could go in tandem with a nice rework to keys and toolboxes, the gist being you can use toolboxes to build breakable walls, and not all breakable walls spawn built and that keys could consume a large number of charges to vault through a breakable wall.

As for maps I'd really like to see functionality on them inverted, you channel the map to add anything near you to them and things that are being tracked by your map are visible at all times. Maps track totems, hooks, gens, vaults, pallets, and breakable walls by default. Addons and higher rarity rainbow map can be used to add some items as pre traacked at the start of the match. For example the rainbow map can start with 1 totem tracked and there can also be an addon that adds an additional totem pre tracked at start.

I'm not so sure about the breakable walls thingy but maps could definitely use a buff like this, currently no one uses them because other tracking perks do the job better (even more with clairvoyance added), so making the tracked items permanently visible would benefit them a bunch without being op i believe

I have an idea. Cuz sprint burst plus DH would be crucial, I would make it inactive when there is an existing exhaust. It normally is active unless there is an exhaust.

I'm not sure what you mean but if you're saying it doesn't work if the survivor has an exhaustion perk, then it's a big no no lol. If you mean it doesn't work when the survivor is exhausted from an other perk then it's the same thing as it being an exhaustion perk and if you mean it doesn't work if the survivor has an exhaustion perk but isn't exhausted then the survivor would sitll be able to use both perks in one chase easily, mostly with sprint burst where you're exhausted as soon as you start the chase. I don't think there's any way to prevent sprint burst/dead hard combos if dead hard isn't an exhaustion perk anymore.

  • Not making BT activate for 10s would be making it useless for people wanting to use it properly against facecampers or basement campers by immediately going for the unhook, it would also allow BT players to farm unhooks with no safety net for the unhooked survivor. Honestly I don't think BT would be much a problem, yes there's people who would equip it to gain safe unhook stacks, but they already do for we'll make it stacks and honestly it's not that bad (or at least it's better than people farming without it)

So you mean you would give max one token, just like Second Wind or Renewal (whoever likes one of these perk names)

Yeah, you gain a token with each unhook but can't stack them, i guess it'd activate the perk like inner strength instead of showing a token then (because being able to use multiple dead hards during a chase doesn't seem like much a nerf lmao)

About an exhaustion, that's what I was thinking about. Good point.

I mean obviously if dead hard worked with tokens (a token per safe unhook) it would be much less used and four survivors using it wouldn't be very practical considering only one can unhook at a time. Honestly way less dead hards vs sprint burst + dead hards seem like a fair trade, but I'm assuming a lot of people would disagree

  • As a solo q player i get farmed enough as it is lol, a better requirement would be "safely unhook" a survivor. Also the reason dead hard and sprint burst are "free" is because they're exhaustion perks, the same way noed is "free" is because it's a hex; if such a change was implemented dead hard shouldn't be an exhaustion perk anymore, therefore say hello to sprint burst/dead hard combos.

  • @Ashendale said:

I don't think it should be called that, but I think the idea has merit. They could give them skill checks, similar to the 2nd hook phase, so that it was more of a struggle to remain conscious while bleeding out, and you would have the strategic option of giving up if you chose to.

Skill checks while bleeding out is a big no from me. It means you'd have to stop recovering or crawling to hit them, which is very bad, also there's no way i'm spending 4 minutes hitting my spacebar

I think it'd be better if you just bled out faster if you're the last survivor or all the survivors are slugged to avoid killers just wasting your time for the sake of it

  • You should probably change the title of your post to "RBT doesn't count as a kill for challenges" or something like that for clarity's sake

ahhh ok, I understand what you mean now...you mean Freddy had not even placed the Dream Pallet yet, but she could see the location and the pallet?

    That's a pretty weird one

Yes exactly! there was fake dream pallets on top of the real pallets and regular dream pallets

  • @Mandy said:

From my understanding you are supposed to see the illusionary pallets with WoO - I believe that also includes Dream Pallets.

Yes i believe so but she could see and interact with dream pallets that weren't here; from her pov there were dream pallets at every unused pallet locations and when i was still in game with her she kept dropping dream pallets I couldn't see even tho we were both in the dream world. I'm not sure if I'm making much sense but I don't think WoO is supposed to make you see fake pallets everywhere.

  • Just had the same issue, here's some info from me:

I saw the demogorgon at the begining of the game, he was visible and everything was fine. Later on he came to chase me but was completely invisible but the chase music, heartbeat and red stain were still present. He downed me and I lost sight of him (well of the red stain), he then went through a portal and the next time i saw him he was visible again.

However I saw him less than 30s before he was invisble and I'm not sure he went through a portal in the time he was out of sight (I don't remember hearing the noise and he didn't teleport to the portal next to me).

The other players talked in the post game chat but no one mentionned the demogorgon being invisible even tho they were all near me during the chase, so i also believe he was only invisible to me.

    Here's the log:

Every single event, players feel like they are entitled to someone else's offering/time. I do not play DBD to farm bloodpoints. I do not care.

I just got farmed off hook by my team mates and the Killer tunneled me instantly because I did not want to farm. I ran him for about 2-3 minutes and I guess he took offense to me wanting to play the game. This has been happening almost every single match because I don't want to farm. I want to play the game.

I do not care if killer gives somebody hatch, I give players hatch all the time.

Please make farming a bannable offense WITH video proof. Meaning if someone is recording it and they send in the evidence that very CLEARLY shows they are farming, those players receive a ban. It is extremely boring and unfair to the players that just want to play the game.

I find farming too boring so i just do gens and leave, never been killed for wanting to partake in it tho. If you want to report it i believe you can report survivors for "working with the killers" and killers for "refusing to engage in normal gameplay"

Idk why is killer adept so involved when survivors just have to escape?

Point is that it does not matter anyway because it's ez

Adepts should be changed as well (either make it harder for survivor or easier for killers) so the challenge to obtain it is equal.

That's the same thing here, idc about having to escape, i wouldn't care if i had to get 4 iri emblems as both roles to get the crown, i care that atm survivors need to earn an event cosmetic while killers don't

  • @BioX said:

I got all the crowns up to Felix in one day.....soooo git gud?

not only no one cares but also that's absolutely not point lol there's no requirements for killers to unlock it besides finding the crown so there's no reason as to why survivors should escape

  • @HybridLPangel26 said:

Im still new in killer mode it is stressful and frustrating to have them start to run and i cant catch them theyre too fast and lost all the time. Also im not liking the random maps as some is very hard

The killer is faster than the survivors by default, you just need some practice :) I'm assuming you may be playing Spirit as she's your profile pic but i'd advise in learning how to chase with more basic killers like Trapper for example. Also for the maps, in the bloodweb there's different map offerings that you can get to equip as an offering to greatly increase the chance to be sent to the map of your choice

  • @KSzerker said:

Not in my opinion. This bp gain rate is too high. If it was always like this a lot of regular players would quickly run out of things to unlock and just leave. The gameplay of DBD isn't deep enough on its own to keep people engaged like games like CSGO or Dota2. The grind is very important to player retention in DBD.

That's a fair point but there should be a balance between making the grind too easy and boring out regular players and keeping the grind as it is which gets worse everytime a chapter is added and scares new players away. Also there's always iri shards to grind for outfits, i don't think the devs are planning on making this one any easier lol

  • This happened to me as well, I was controlling Victor when the game ended an didn't unlock the crown. I replayed a game and finished the game as Charlotte and this time it worked.

  • Same, i played as Frank and got his crown, but didn't get Julie when I played as her (or when I played an other Legion member)

I'm not sure i understand this right, does this mean the banned perks are automatically unlocked for everyone or is it for perks you hate and don't want to use ever ?

Regardless it's a cool idea but it wouldn't reduce the grind by much on its own tbh, as the player would still have to grind 3 tiers of all base perks + 3 tiers of 2/3 of the teachable perks

  • it's not a bug it's the secret effect of the anniversary cake offering :) completely normal

  • @sleepy_knight said:

4 killers told me in chat yesterday they specifically tunneled the shiny people. All but 1 were rank 1, the last guy rank 6. So far I have 1 crown but I had to ask for help from two friends who legit played bodyguard for me in two matches.

So I guess killers want more swf to go against?

Getting crowns as killer was fun though, I even helped the survivors get theirs once I had mine.

Spent the morning playing as survivor, didn't get a single crown but i was tunnelled, facecamped and moried once i found the crown tho :D played two games as killers, got two crowns. This is bullsh*t i shouldn't have to hope for an afk or farming killer to get an event cosmetic.

  • @Hex_Llama said:

Yeah, I find the escape requirement kind of intense, but I also don't run the default heads on most of my characters, and it looks like, if you want to wear the crown, you have to have the default head as well, so.

FWIW, I played four or five solo survivor matches and in every single one, I either found a crown and got killed, or didn't find one and escaped. I think maybe the crowns are cursed.

Same, i wish the crown would just be stackable with whatever cosmetic you have on, and i also had games where i was the only survivor who hadn't found a crown and the killer ignored me entirely and didn't try to hook me until everyone else was dead, some of them just don't want survivors to get crowns apparently

  • @Bran said:

i don't wanna put anyone down, but the simple solution is to just increase blood point gain as the grind is not as intolerable as people make it seem.

Yeah of course I should have included that lol, but it would still be useless regarding saving up BPs for a new chapter if the cap isn't increased tho

  • @Laluzi said:

I'm making a point of not killing anyone just because the whole escape requirement is so annoying. It's not fair that killers just have to find the crown, but survivors need to find it and then make it out alive. Turns it from a one-game thing to a five or ten game thing in solo queue.

That's really nice of you, I'm probably going to do the same tbh i ususally always let the last survivor live anyway, but also killers shouldn't have to go out of their way to throw a game bc the devs decided survivors needed to try-hard for an anniversary cosmetic

  • @Spy said:

You wanna know why? Because if they made it that it was unlocked upon getting it, survivor would simply dc and have the crown without having to do anything and would just ruin countless games

Nope DC cancels everything you gain, including crowns (like it does for killers)

  • @bm33 said:

I think if they adjust it like complete a generator - just something so survivor can't just find it and get killed right away but also not punished if they don't make it to end.

yeah or make it so that you keep it if you get 10K points or something for both roles

  • @LegionOfDumb said:

    Because I like a challenge

Good for you ^^ if it was a challenge on both sides i wouldn't complain but it's basically free for killers so there's no reason for it not to be for survivors

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

It's because survivors would probably throw game after game just to get their crowns.

Similiar to the first Halloween event

I mean it's the same thing for killers, there's definitely some killers i'll probably just go around the map with just to find the crown before considering playing the game properly lol

  • @Bullettimegod said:

Let me ask you this. How would you change killers side? Make them 4k for crown?

I'm not asking a change for the killer side, I'm asking for survivors to unlock the crown upon finding it, like killers. Making killers 4k could be viable ig but it would also make them play more sweaty

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2313555#Comment_2313555

Killers feel like 2 dead is #########. Because it can be. You can get 3 hooks all game(tunneled) And catch someone at the very end in a 4 minute match and the other 2 bail out and you got 2 kills..But is 4 hooks really that good...? No. In that situation you played like ######### and still got 2 kills. That's not balance.

You can get 8 hooks(which is a lot) and not get a single kill. IF you're playing fair(in the survivors eyes) You need 10 hooks to get 2 kills. And thats borderline impossible against competent survivors.

Yeah absolutely, it's the same for survivors, you can hide all game and escape, statistics don't take into account the quality of the gameplay lol but that's an entirely different discussion about what strategies and gameplay should be viable to win, you should still get an average of 2Ks per game if DBD was balanced (and the matchmaking & ranks good)

The average being 2Ks doesn't necessarily imply that the number of hooks sould be 6, unless the game was specifically designed to make tunneling / camping the only viable or the best killer strategy. If tunnelling / camping was punished or other gameplays encouraged we could get an average of 8 - 9 hooks but still 2 kills.

Also tunnelling is the thing i hate the most in the game but people saying you need to hook everyone before hooking the same person again (and therefore needing 10 hooks for two kills) is bullsh*t lol as long as your strategy isn't hooking the same person three times in a row, even if that means camping them, downing them right off the hook, waiting out BT and DS, ignoring the survivor doing the unhook or dropping a chase just to go after the dude you just hooked I wouldn't consider it tunneling

  • Honestly we can't tell if the game is killer or survivor sided considering the matchmaking is bad and on top of that ranks themselves are completely meaningless.

However if the game was balanced it would mean survivors escape an average of 1 game out of 2 and killers get an average of 2 kills per game (and not a 4K one game out of two like many seem to believe) and clearly that's not the case as killers think they did badly unless they get 3ks at least.

Based on that we can say the game is currently killer sided for average players, maybe the mechanics themselves aren't killer sided as we can see in competitive DBD survivors seem to have the advantage but with the current matchmaking if you're a solo queue survivor you're basically playing a 1 v 3 v 1 game and won't come close to escaping a game out of 2, it's more nuanced for SWF depending on wether they're playing for fun or if they're tryharding, in which case we can't tell which side has the advantage.

In conclusion the game's balance can't be determined or fixed properly before ranks & matchmaking make sense, the only sure thing is that solo survivor queue is the most difficult role at the moment (and by quite a bit tbh).

  • Jake, he's just chilling in the woods talking to birds

  • Things that I personnally find fun other than chases from the top of my head:

    • Snowball effect - fun for both sides
    • Memeing - fun for both sides
    • Everyone dying really early into the game - fun as survivor, i feel bad as killer
    • NOED - don't run it as killer but i love going against end-game builds as survivor (adds a little spice and a nice "oh sh*t" moment lol)
    • Stealthy survivor - can be really fun as survivor but i hate it as killer so i rarely do it

Now it's not because a game isn't fun that it can't be enjoyed, lots of things can make the game boring (campers, 4 stealthy survivors...) but getting tunnelled & survivors not leaving the game for no reason are probably the 2 things that genuinely piss me off and ruin the game for me.

  • Winning as a survivor : escaping

    Winning as a killer: 3k or 4k

However DBD isn't a competitive game and I'm not playing to "win the game", so how i feel about my games depends on the performance more than the results, meaning as a survivor i'm happier if i loop properly and end up dying to save a teammate rather than playing stealthy the entire game and escaping, and as killer i'm happier if I get 6 hooks but no kills against good survivors bc i outplayed them rather than getting an ez 4k by camping or bc the survivors are new to the game.

Also typically i have a challenge equipped and my only 'objective' is getting it done (or a daily).

  • it takes 80 seconds for one person to do 1 gen so it's technically impossible for 3 gens to get done in less than a minute or for you to do all the gens in 3 minutes, even with prove thyself and a brand new part. If 3 gens get done in the first 100 seconds of the game it means you haven't applied any pressure since the start of the game and probably have been chasing a single survivor for way too long (or have caught a survivor and are facecamping them).

If gen speed is that much of a problem for you maybe you should focus on applying pressure and learn when to drop chases or run slowdown perks (but i don't recommend solely relying on them tho). Honestly gens getting done too fast is only out of the killer's hands against BNP & Prove Thyself players (who thankfully are pretty rare)

  • The reason the DC penalty is temporarily disabled is because ppl get randomly kicked out of games or have to DC bc it's unplayable, re-enabling it before fixing the bug would punish people suffering from the bug and wouldn't change the number of DCs by much (considering ppl who DC just to DC do it anyway when the penalty is active)

  • Personnally if there's one insta / early DC I don't expect the killer to farm as survivor and as killer i just go easy on the survivors. However if there's two DCs and the killer try-hard i'll just sacrifice myself and as killer i let the survivors do the gens and leave (i don't bother farming 'properly' aka hit the survivors to let them heal, go find pallets to get hit etc i just don't have the patience lol)

  • EAC gets buggy sometimes, just go to your game files (you can find them from steam), launch EAC and uninstall/reinstall it (it literally takes 5 seconds), the game should work after that

  • I agree 3/4 SWF groups are too strong but this solution is just not possible, there's multiple problems here:

    • In the 3 SWF group scenario you're also punishing a solo player (who's probably already having a hard time bc playing alongside 3 SWF is a nightmare most of time)
    • Punishing SWF in grey ranks and half the time green ranks too is plain unnecessary and would be unfair to them
    • A killer seeing SWF in lobby could just take slowdown perks and make the game as unfun as possible
    • Making the game unfun for SWF just because they're playing with friends is most likely not a good idea for the viability of the game
    • 30% is just way too much lol
  • @Cheers said:

I wouldn't think so. Not alot of people asked for PH and yet he made his way into the game, and I don't think any original killer was based off of a fan made one.

What I do know is that some perks were based from fan creations, not entirely sure which ones but I believe some were.

Thanks for confirming what I thought! It seems impossible to try and satisfy every demand, and it kinda would ruin the surprise if new characters were the ones who were asked the most..
