Previously I liked playing at night (EU) but killer was the only real option at that time.
Pre-patch: killer queues instant, survivor queues extremely long, not sure how long exactly because I didn't bother
Currently: last night survivor was way shorter and killer slightly longer meaning either side would take 1-2 minutes. Whatever that ratio was I enjoyed it

This is kind of presumptuous. It's not fair to criticise someone for an action you think they would've taken.
Fair point, I apologise @Marigoria

Almost like there is no other game of the genre to switch to. I feel like you're making this thread out of bad faith almost like a "gotcha" but it's not as good as you might think.
I feel if the numbers had dropped you would be pointing to the latest patch as the exact reason behind it. I mean no disrespect but you can be a bit of a cherrypicker
-
I always see this argument, "If survivors are DCing and giving up on hook it's a sign there's something seriously wrong with the game"
I'd be interested to know what specific balance issues are being demonstrated when I down a survivor with clown or wraith or something and they DC, pre- or post-patch.
If you (general "you") think that survivor is unplayable you will be compelled to instantly remove yourself from any game you load into, why tf are you still playing survivor?

I'm an optimistic fool who thought that nerfing dead hard would mean we don't have to discuss it every 5 minutes. What a beautiful, naïve dream...

The point is to bring solos up to the level of SWF, what they choose to do with the information is another matter entirely. The difference between an equally skilled four-man SWF and Four Solos is information. By giving solos the same level of information SWFs has, you bring solos up to the same level as SWF.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090038#Comment_3090038
This community lacks the maturity for comms. I can't see it being anything but a bad thing.
Every online game has a community too immature for comms. I don't particularly want a 12 year old nea screaming homophobic slurs into the mic after she messes up her third CJ of the match either. But something has to be does to try and equalise solo/swf communication.
The other strength of swf, "filtering out potatoes" as I think @Aven_Fallen called it, just needs more consistent matchmaking to replicate which may never happen (it's pretty consistent for me but not for a lot of soloQers)
-
@Tsulan said:
The issue is, how do you buff solo queue to SWF levels, without also buffing SWF? Every attempt to do so in the past. Has also buffed SWF.
Only way to bring both on the same level, is something the community is against: ingame voice chat.
Honestly at this point maybe they should. Do it how other games do - balance it around the whole team communicating with each other and make it clear that while you don't have to join in (I probably wouldn't) you're putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don't. Throw in ping systems and the like. It won't be the most atmospheric thing ever but there's no perfect solution really tbh

One of the strongest easiest to use powers in the game with his teleport to which has 0 indication is happening along with 0 cooldown on it and instant grab possibility without even being in the locker. On top of a passive power that makes it basically impossible to see anything thats not 4 feet in front of you. Screw this killer, even worse to fight then old spirit or a face camping Bubba
I think I understand what you're saying. You really like dredge but don't want to admit it because you're shy.

Thanks for the advice!
I like that me and @StibbityStabbity told you to do completely opposite things lmao
-
My main advice for blight isn't specific to blight, it's learning any killer with a lethal M2 - just spam it at every opportunity. If you have a survivor a metre in front of you that you could easily M1, go bounce off something nearby and try to hit them that way. You'll probably throw a few games but it'll get you the practice you need, you don't need to learn how to M1 (I assume)
It worked for me anyway, gl hf however you approach it :)
-
I don't think blight is generally considered unfun, there are plenty of complaints usually revolving around exploits, sweaty builds, ridiculous addons and seeing him every match, but less so about how his base power functions.

Only people would be punished by killer aura reveal are campers. Maybe don't camp and you wont show up on it.
That's not entirely true. I like to run kindred with open handed sometimes where you can loop a killer at a tile reasonably far from the hook but just within range to see their aura at all times. It's a strong enough effect that it should take two perks, not just one. The survivor to survivor aura reading should be base though.
-
Honestly I don't get how people have such consistently bad soloQ games. I complain about terrible solo teammates when they appear as well but it's not that often. I played about 10 games of solo last night. No one dc'd or gave up, everyone did gens, did saves, lasted a reasonable time in chase, fought to the last. I'm not saying soloq doesn't need info buffs because it very much does I just don't understand why I'm especially lucky.

The Nurse community will, 100%. After all I did just call their character a huge crutch and no one likes hearing that.
But no, I don't think a lot of Killer players are going to argue against that. There might be a vocal minority (there usually is), but as a Killermain myself I can guarantee you they don't speak for all of us.
Can already hear in the distance a series of angry blinks and an increasing default terror radius
-
I mean if you're seriously asking I'd be inclined to say something you run often and struggle to do well without. But then again that could apply to perks people might run for accessiblity like shadowborn or spine chill, and it feels kinda rude to call those crutches in a case like that.
So...idk. Whatever a crutch is it's not a good reason for nerfs anyway, things that are overpowered and/or obnoxious more so
-
Sluzz, you've played since the start and if your previous posts are accurate you've been struggling with survivor for a very long time. Other survivors from the 2016 intake who are still playing do not get ######### on by every demo or wraith they go against. You can't balance a game around a single person who plays for 6+ years without any significant degree of improvement at anything other than nurse, and if your steam comments are anything to go by you even play her by stacking slowdowns and camping I know the occasional -rep is meaningless but you have like 80 pages of the same complaints about your killer playstyle - you even have recent ones where apparently you called survivors genrushers and malded at them for breaking your ruin
What do you want, if all this isn't just years of dedicated trolling? You don't even suggest anything specific apart from vague demands to nerf X or not nerf Y.
-
Best use of it I've seen was a reddit clip where a Claudette dead harded at a zombie for a speed boost mid-chase, it was pretty cool
-
Lightborn for a single flashlight isn't a great idea
-
The thing is, the whole premise that "killers shouldn't feel obligated to run multiple slowdowns per match" is a good one
But I don't know how viable it is to have that be the case, and also have a wide range of slowdown perks that a) are very strong and b) synergise well together
Most players want to win, most players will put on what they think are most likely to secure a win. BBQ's nerf cleared the path for a 4th slowdown perk.
So for gens to not be slowed to a crawl in most matches it's probable that either we return to the old ways with quicker gens at base and strong slowdown perks, or we have slower base gens and the slowdown perks -all of them- get smacked hard with the nerf bat. I think I'd prefer the second option.
-
The last few maps and buffing bloodlust kinda indicate they're very committed to terrible map design at this point
-
Plaything and pentimento - having to smash totems first to remove oblivious and then again to remove slowdown is an extra side objective they might struggle with alongside the party hats
I'm all ears - she's one of the better users of it. Crouch when they vault somewhere they can't see you clearly and then watch their aura to see how to sneak up on them. Can work nicely on killer shack
Grim embrace - if you're lucky it'll activate when at least a couple of them have hats on them. You now get 40 seconds where you don't have to worry about gens and can patrol the boxes instead

What do people genuinely think a second objective would be other than hold M1 somewhere else, or grab something and take it to the gen, with increased gen times already I think secondary objective would be pointless, survivors have to throw some matches just for their challenges as it is.
The "grab something and take it to gen" could potentially be made fairly interesting, and cut gen time to account for the time spent having to go do that, so less M1 holding overall

They figure if the devs are just gonna give killers the games with these perk changes we might as well help them out. That's what happens when the majority of the survivor player base are solo Q survivor mains that are getting shat upon. How fun is it now?!
Devs are going to be looking at the numbers of people playing as well as DC rates. If you want to protest you can just not play rather than actively trying to make things worse for other solo players.

So far I've had some good soloQ games and some bad ones. Some of the bad ones were directly related to the patch (slug only build with new knockout is unsurprisingly not the most fun thing ever), most were just solo things. Like a Steve running over and starting a gen next to where I'm hooked, only going to rescue me when the killer comes back and getting grabbed off the hook, that sort of stupid ######### that you can't realistically blame 6.1.0. for.
Also as killer I wasn't massively looking forward to 4 sprint bursts but pleasantly surprised to see a mixture of sprint burst, lithe, overcome and DH.

So you suggesting they revert the basekit 5 sec BT and haste off hook? It’s not like killers haven’t been waiting out BT before the patch, is it?
and I don’t see any problems with off the record. Many people just see the OMG THIS SURVIVOR IS UNTOUCHABLE FOR 80 SEC THATS NOT FAIR while completely forgetting that this survivor is also USELESS to their team for the whole duration and just like DS off the record is deactivated in endgame so you can still get your well deserved kill.
that’s why I don’t run DS or off the record because I don’t want to lurk around the map doing nothing for over a minute straight.
No, I mean strengthening the base endurance and haste, not removing it. I have no issues with OTR either
-
It's good to see people unhappy with the patch actually suggesting proposed changes.
But practically the changes to chase would probably be the worst ones to revert. Having gotten used to the new speeds it would feel like having a reversed brutal strength and sbtfl every match, idk how many killers would be willing to go back to that.
The gen speed increase, killer slowdown perks and buffing the survivor base endurance/speed might be better targets.

I can't find it when searching, but it was within the past few days. Basically was whining asking how to deal with Sprint Burst and Lithe. And that it felt "Pointless" to chase after because of how much distance they made. lmfao
Yeah I remember that post, the OP specifically said they weren't asking for the perks to be nerfed but were looking for advice on countering them, and they got shrieked at anyway because why not.
-
There's nothing this community loves more than shooting itself in the foot.
Changes introduced to make stacking slowdowns unnecessary -> killers continue to run that anyway -> changes get reverted and/or perks get nerfed and rage ensues.
It would be the same in reverse, if 10 seconds were removed from gens instead it would be a carnival of toolboxes and prove thyself. We're just very self-defeating in general.
-
The only survivors I saw using it was when I was playing blight and they got pretty good value out of it during my rush attacks. Can't be mad about it though, it's undeniably pretty skillful now.

4 second ds (because I doubt they'll completely undo the nerf)
Thanatophobia nerfed back to 4% per stack but works on booning as well
Increased hook timer to compensate for longer gen times
Hard cap for healing/repairing speeds. For example, self healing caps at X seconds and can't get any faster while gen times cap at Y seconds and can't go any slower. Not sure about the exact numbers that would work.
I know the devs have said they won't give kindred for free, but something similar should be considered. It wouldn't benefit swf in any meaningful way but help solos tremendously.
Keep the incentives at 100% at all times (once they are reintroduced), otherwise bp gains are garbage.
These sound pretty reasonable. I've recently started to think there should be caps on healing speed and gen speed too just because there's too many perks at this point to limit their synergies with each other.

Sadly yes. In a lot of threads. Its a 4vs1 but people try to present it like a single survivor has to do all the gens alone.
Ha well I have had those solo queue games but fortunately not very often

Especially since the 10 seconds don´t translate into 50 seconds additional match time, like most people claim.
Have people been saying that? I guess if gens were only worked on solo and never at the same time although that'd be a strange match 🤔

You're definitely a new player and don't understand this game's matchmaking. Ranks were far better than mmr. Mmr doesn't even work.
Rank based matchmaking was terrible, worse than MMR even with all its flaws. Played since 2018.

Complaints happen every patch and it just happens that it's one of the biggest patches they made so the outcry is equally bad.
In a couple of weeks we'll go back to the normal amount of complaining and a couple or weeks after that the devs will probably fine tune some of the changes they made
Honestly some of the changes might've been designed to be reverted anyway

"I agree that soloq is in a bad spot, and will always be in a bad spot no matter how much you buff it because you cant control what kind of teammates you get."
Maybe so but that's no reason not to try. It's frustrating that the info update has been shelved until next year because of the other things they want to do first. Like the bot matches are something I'm kinda excited for but honestly solo should be prioritised higher. And the mori rework is also coming before which is also like...really not something we need urgently.

Yeah.
I usually play while cooking supper, watching Netflix, and writing haiku.
Only got 39 4ks, so I still have a bit to learn, but the meta is new so I'm not disappointed.
I've been playing perkless addonless trapper and waiting 2 minutes at the start of every match in order to give the survivors a chance, although that didn't help much. After a match where I also blindfolded myself and used my feet for the controls I finally got just a 3k, although they might've been hacking

Just because people are starving for bloodpoints doesnt mean survivor is ok.
Survivor queue times get shorter = survivors are all leaving because of this patch
Survivor queue times get longer = survivors -want- to leave because of the patch, but they're forced to play survivor for BP
No possible answer that involves people still actually enjoying the survivor role, I assume?
-
Has anyone else seen any incentive which isn't just +100% on survivor? It doesn't seem to change for me

Survivors seem to think that they won by completing all the generators and they're entitled to the escape just by powering the gates. The game isn't over until you leave.
When the 5th gen pops the killer is obliged to stand in a corner for 30 seconds to give the survivors time to prepare before reporting to the exit gate for BM
-
Old DH is gone, there's no need to pretend it was weak or counterable or highly skillful in the hopes of not getting it nerfed anymore, the party's over, it's dead, a chimp could probably have been taught to use it fairly effectively, good riddance to it.
-
Tunnelling is a fairly meaningless term once 5 gens have been done.
-
A lot of the changes feel minor on the survivor side, even though they do make a difference. You notice the killer catch up a bit faster after hitting you or kicking a pallet, gens taking slightly longer etc but nothing massively gamechanging. This all from the perspective of someone who hasn't ran DH in a long time.
If you did run it every match you have to adapt to those changes -and- you've essentially had your health states per chase cut by a third, which is a much bigger deal.
