  • The community managers take way too much of the flak when they aren't even responsible for changes. Like if the balance team decide that clown's bottle throw being ranged means he should be a 110 speed it's the CM's job to come here and explain that this is a very sensible and not idiotic change, but it's not their doing. Probably why you don't see them around here much now.

I registered just to write that comment: what about DC? There even a discussion with some good ideas how you can make it balanced: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/194359/ds-doesnt-need-a-nerf-it-needs

I don't think almo is allowed to talk about DS anymore

I'm unsure why "anti momentum" somehow makes it better. If the devs think punishing a killer for doing their job well is a good thing, it's no wonder why their playerbase stays stagnant no matter how many more copies of the game they sell.

If we're going to have "anti-momentum" perks we should have them for both sides. Like one where if gens get done too quickly then it just regresses an already completed gen back to zero. If this is the sort of fun and balanced gameplay we're aiming for.

  • I'm so sorry @GoodBoyKaru :(

The rest of you too 💗 hope everyone is as ok as you can be.

  • Old thana buff didn't go through because they don't want unpleasant synergies

    - meanwhile DS/unbreakable

Pop nerfed bc you can just do what you like for 60 seconds

    - meanwhile DS

Ruin nerfed because it could have a high impact on the game without requiring any effort from the player

    - meanwhile every survivor meta perk

I'm actually fine with all those killer perk nerfs, it's just kinda lame that survivor meta perks are practically sacred

  • I'm fine with them buffing and nerfing perks, they should do it more often. Pop will still be good, trail will now actually be good. Some of the other changes are meh (slippery meat and cruel limits still probably won't be used by anyone)

The issue is them refusing to touch the strongest survivor perks, only the killer ones. In a year's time the most complained about perks on the killer's side will probably be completely different and for survivors it'll stll be good old ds/unbreakable

  • The main counterplay is the survivor not knowing how to run it properly, the other type of bus spawning, or being a killer that can put a stop to it early. Otherwise idk really

Here's some large-brained antics I recorded after escaping a while back.

  • When I play killer and I have my messages switched on (not often anymore) and I go out of my way not to tunnel or anything like that, and still get messages calling me a camper, tunneller etc just bc I killed them it makes me think "why not just be as vicious as you can? They're going to accuse you of playing scummy anyway" I usually think of the survivors that've been chill and that messaged me nice things afterwards as a reason not to.

  • Just swinging by to check on The Console Experience and make sure I made the right decision by uninstalling, signs point to yes

From what I'm reading, it is. Apparently Otz's frames went from 120 to 80. This update looks like it really screwed over consoles (and frames in general).

In that case if they think I'm paying actual money for the new chapter on console they can descend beyond my arsehole

  • Maybe there'll be something in our platform-specific patch notes? Maybe

Funny thing is that I was watching his stream and he played a similar game as Doctor on Haddonfield. All survivors were flashlight spamming or tbagging.

Not trying to say anything, but look at these builds:

I know one of those survivors, total weirdo. Messaged me after a round demanding a rematch in kyf then went afk, also kept adding me + friends into voice chat and then just staying completely silent. Is an amazing console huntress tho, credit where it's due.

    Lofty delusions.

I see the same thing on PS4. If the player has a PSN name clearly and explicitly referencing DBD (toxicmegmain as a made up example), sure enough when checking their profile it’s littered with just DBD stuff, and a heap of cough cough “rules” 🤣🤣🤣

    They’re usually absurd “rules” too.

Someone on my team a while back had on theirs "leatherface = gay + noed = gay"

Sadly I wasn't playing against or I would've prepared an extremely homosexual build just for them

the more I learn and play about this perk the more underwhelming it becomes to me. What a F tier perk.

It's nice enough to have in general but can be really good situationally. First time I ran it there were two injured survivors committing to the last gen and I only had time to hit one. Without it the gen would've still got done and they both had adrenaline, but it didn't and they died.

Cooldown is pointless but you know how much bhvr loves them.

  • Selfcare may not be the issue as much as the players using it, but after seeing all three survivors doing it at once when you're on the hook, or doing it through sloppy butcher, or selfcaring immediately after getting unhooked even if you have we'll make it, it makes it hard to not start disliking the perk itself.

This is actually one of the first DLCs that, as of right now, I don't see myself buying with cash. I'm not even sure I'd use shards, because the Killer perks don't sell me. Not unless I change my personal rule and start using Hex perks.

That said, I'm waiting to see how he plays in Live. So, I suppose YouTube videos it is.

Don't care about the survivor, myself. I'm quite content sticking with Laurie, Ash, and Bill.

I'll probably get it with shards, not really enthused about the killer but I'm a compulsive hexer 😁

  • I like how the survivors in the trailer run in a straight line without looking behind them, ofc this is the type of survivors blight will really shine against.

  • It's cute that you think small game, a map or even the bear traps being bright pink would prevent my foot from going directly into its hungry jaws. It is destiny.

"No one wants to play killer. "<--- can we for once stop with this? It is not true at all. Besides, before Crossplay the Queue Times were instant for Survivor and longer for Killer. And nobody said "No one wants to play Survivor".

    @Topic:

My Queue Times are roughly the same as before Crossplay. Usually I get instant Lobbies from Morning until Afternoon as Survivor and longer Waiting Times for Killer (5 minutes+), and in the evening/night, I have instant Queues for Killer and have to wait around 3 minutes for Survivor. The Survivor Queues got a little bit longer in the evening (instead of 2-3 minutes it is mostly around 3 minutes now).

Probably, because Console had a lot of Survivor players. Also, Console Killers dont have to play Crossplay to have instant Lobbies, so I assume that many already have disabled it to get "easier games against Console Survivors".

My killer queues on PS4 are instant with crossplay on or off. With crossplay on as survivor I only go against pc killers and with it off my queues are horrible. Playing killer on console is just not a great experience, even worse right now than it is usually and you feel like your opponent the frame rate as much as the survivors. If you've played against console survivors you've probably noticed they usually go for 360s a lot more which right now on indoor maps is kinda like having infinite dead hards.

  • When the stars align and you get a game where you have an opponent(s) around your skill level where it feels like it could go either way for most of the match, good teammates (if applicable), no one's brought any seriously unfun sh1t and there's no serious bugs or optimisation fails throughout the match then yes it's the best, win or lose.

  • I don't know why they released it on the switch in the first place. They haven't ever got it to work properly on xbox or ps4 so clearly the switch version was going to be a mess.

I’m not gonna respond to your perks comment because they are there for people to use just how perks like NOED are there to use for killers. As to why someone wouldn’t dc? That’s irritating to go against. It’s irritating to know that the devs had supposedly fixed the the cage problems with this killer as it was complained about so much on here when he was released even by killer mains, and things like this still happen.

You can run whatever perks you want, and you can also play with friends, I only mention those things because when you're in a 3-4 man swf and strictly running only meta perks it's fair to assume your playstyle is the "sweat your balls off" type? Which is also fine, not for me I don't think it makes much sense with this game but you do you.

It's just you seem to expect the killer to play in a much more chill way than that. Maybe trying to win yeah, but not to any level that might stop your hard-earned 4-man escape. There's kind of a disconnect there (apart from your mate's one), don't you think?

  • @Babyyy_Boyy said:

-you only saw my perks so who do you know the whole SWF has “Sweat Perks”?

-He never got tunneled, if you would of read the post I said he got chased and he was hooked EARLIER in the game. That doesn’t mean he got tunneled

-Who wouldn’t DC? I have every right to come and post what I want on here until I get banned from posting on here

-You’re literally coming off a comment on here but don’t know the full story as to why I slugged them (Didn’t let them bleed out) sit down. Move along. Bye.

swf teams tend to stick with those who play in a similar way. Maybe you had the sweat perks and he was running slippery meat and pebble but let's face it, probably not

As for who wouldn't DC in that situation...most people wouldn't?

  • Next time send them this and ask them to share it with their parent or guardian

Losing gracefully without big explosions of anger and frustration is hard for kids, especially for kids who are always striving to be perfect. But as parents, there are things we can do to help our children handle the defeat well, without getting angry ourselves.

  • @Raz_ said:

Thats a classic Pyramid head gameplay. well say thanks to devs who implemented a full time tunneling killer.

Funny how people say "omg he dced so entitled" but killers also dc when they get gen rushed or anything happens what is not fun for them.

    mindset of killer mains

    - SWF, with all the sweat perks

    - one gets tunnelled (in endgame) as damage control

    - this leads to one dcing and another coming to the forums to demand action be taken because only three of them escaped

    - OP also lets players bleed out on the floor when playing killer as mentioned earlier in this thread but that's ok because he's the one doing it

So yes, some hints of entitlement detected

  • Also to the main thread there is nothing wrong with camping or tunnelling at endgame. Ragequitting at endgame is ridiculously childish and you shouldn't begrudge the killer and/or your teammates teabagging or whatever on your corpse, not like you can see it anyway. Also as @azame pointed out you don't mind letting slugs bleed out on purpose so it seems more like you only object to certain "nastier" tactics when they're on the opposing side to you, whichever that is at the time.

  • @azame said:

I swear this thread is so disgusting you "people" have already been told that this has been addressed to the team and still want to make threads dedicated to bashing the devs for shits and giggles. Let's use our heads together since you had enough of a brain to make such stupid posts "Why don't you have an answer to your question?" How about some of the community managers/mods have not been informed by the devs therefore don't have A ######### ANSWER.

    You "people"? Quotation marks included?

So we're now on to criticising the devs makes you some kind of subhuman, good to know!

  • You'll have to excuse us. Poor console optimisation has had profound effects on us, for example after playing a match with 10 FPS on lerys we can suffer from dizziness and disorientation which then leads to poor judgement, such as putting devour hope on every match. If not treated by a medical professional this can lead to some truly strange builds, I've even heard talk of insidious basement huntresses and sloppy butcher plagues.

It amazes me that they don't have a console to test it out before releasing an update... Or they just don't care.. Whatever.. I'm very frustrated with Mandy's answers and feel like I'll have to abandon a game I once enjoyed playing... It's sad

I'm considering jumping ship as well, at least until I get a ps5 (whenever that is 😅)

I'll need another game to fill the void in my heart but I tried smite for the first time the other day and it seems kinda appealing It's also where a few of my old swf pals went when they finally gave up on dbd

Usually I'd be too tempted by the arrival of the next chapter but blight looks terrible anyway. I'll have to give it some thought

  • @Nobsyde said:

@MandyTalk I'm not gonna argue with you about if and how the thread was or was not overall a good environment (especially compared to all the other threads in this board), I will reply though to this, which is important:

In a working environment do you want to read pages of bumps which amounts to spam, as well as the posts that offered nothing constructive to a thread but were just there to insult/bash the developers - or would you rather read a thread that contained the relevant information that you needed to do your job?

I assume you are not talking about yourself when you speak about "working environment", but about the Tech Team, trying to get information from the topic.

Now, obviously I don't expect the tech team to actively read a thread of 30+ pages (actually, not even a thread of 2+ pages) - they should already have got all the information they needed in the first few replies, and if they needed more they just needed to ask.

The thread function at that point was to be a container for all the updates on console optimisation, if they ever had to come, and a watchdog for these changes to happen.

There were two very, very effective way to make the thread be extremely pacific:

1- have a community manager say "IT'S TRUE, fps degraded and WE ARE WORKING ON IT. It is a PRIORITY. Expect an update in -insert timeframe-" (the only thing we got was "letting you know we forwarded this thread to the tech team". That's totally different)

2- ...just fix the console frame rate already :)

Again, I have absolutely nothing against you, I know you have little to no power on the matter, I just wanted to clarify this.

I'll second that, if the tech team wanted to read only the most relevant information on that thread plenty of us would've been more than happy to compile those parts together.

  • @Buttercake said:

I'm on Switch and I solely crossplay. I have no problems. I wonder why people have different experiences?

Sorry, but my point is true. There are pages of bumps on that thread - most of them irrelevant posts about getting the thread to 1k etc

What people don't realise that quality over quantity is a big thing, and it's not about visibility as we had already explained in the thread that we'd brought the matter to the teams attention.

In a working environment do you want to read pages of bumps which amounts to spam, as well as the posts that offered nothing constructive to a thread but were just there to insult/bash the developers - or would you rather read a thread that contained the relevant information that you needed to do your job?

I won't discuss this further. I don't have the information that you seek with regards to an answer - I'm sorry, if I did have an answer that I could convey I would.

A lot of us were active on that thread and all the posts insulting the devs must have been removed instantly because I didn't see any of the stuff there that you see in other threads (calling them useless and stupid and saying they should all be fired etc) I was surprised by how well people were restraining themselves.

If there were that many personal attacks that you deleted before anyone else saw them then I envy your reflexes.

Or maybe other people would also like to discuss things besides console optimization without having their threads buried.

You promise your console playerbase 60 FPS, 1.5 years later things are actually worse and people are a bit annoyed. How do you respond?

    1) here's that 60 FPS we promised, sorry about the delay!

    2) Optimisation has been more difficult than anticipated but it is a priority issue and we will keep you updated regularly. We appreciate your patience.

    3) Our goals were unrealistic and we can no longer promise this level on current consoles. However we will still try and optimise the current generation as best we can, as well as ensuring top-quality performance on the next gen. We're very sorry.

That’s actually not true. The same DEV later went on twitch and said that people misunderstood what he said. He meant to say that he had already fixed a lot of bugs. Not that he already made huge changes to the killers power. I’m sure they are making changes though since the PTB version is a complete mess.

Lol if they're releasing blight as the ptb version no wonder they gave him good perks
