When le survivor is toxic
-
It's always painful to see people threaten to leave a game they're so dedicated to when a perk gets nerfed. Like ruin. Or undying. Or balanced landing. Or mettle of man. Or DS the last time. Or pop. Or- wait who actually gives a f*ck about one perk so much, bon voyage I guess

The changes are nice, they’re balanced, but you’re not getting any use out of DS if the killer decides to immediately go after you and manages to down you because he’ll just wait until your timer goes away. let’s see, interact with something goes away, downed by killer after unhook, slugged for 60 seconds with no use out of DS. The best perks to counter this would be Tenacity or Unbreakable but NOT EVERYONE wants to use those perks in conjunction with Decisive Strike.
But that isn't a change. You keep saying that with the new version the killer can just slug you and pick you up after the timer runs out, but that's how it is now...

Thrill of the hunt + haunted grounds with no other hexes seems questionable but it works out for me sometimes

When I first heard of the news yesterday and read a picture of the perk description, I immediately thought it was a prank because it was clearly written by a killer main. It was written exactly how killer mains want it. I had to go watch a vod of the stream to confirm it was true because I couldn't believe it was being nerfed yet again and in a way that killer mains precisely want it.
It is not about how it was nerfed that is important here, it is why it is nerfed. Decisive Strike was not nerfed because of balance reasons. The devs never said the perk was too strong, they strictly talked about the fun factor for specifically one side. It was nerfed because killers didn't like the perk. Killers demand to be totally in charge of their opponent and always oppressing them. DS doesn't win the game by having it equipped, it made the experience playing that side a little more bearable. It was a "fun" perk to use but at the same time a "required" perk to use because despite the rhetoric from the killer side, tunneling is the most effective way to win the game. I know because I play killer as well. If I want to win, I can tunnel someone out of the match and there is nothing that team can do. If it is a SWF team, they'll do anything to help their buddy and then it throws the match. I've seen it from both sides since the game released.
With deactivation conditions which I've said on this forum numerous times which the devs have chosen to ignore, a killer can stop chase after a survivor has been unhooked and if they find that survivor with nurses calling, THEY ARE TUNNELING. The perk is useless. They can work on the objective and thinking they are safe, the killer can stop chasing and return to THAT SURVIVOR and TUNNEL. The perk is useless again. A ghostface can hide, wait for the unhook, wait for the survivor to heal or touch a gen AND PROCEED TO TUNNEL, the perk is again useless.
This perk was nerfed for the benefit of one side at the cost of the other side for not balance reasons, but strictly FUN reasons. It has been nerfed at least five times.
So to answer your question, if you are a survivor main or play solo or duo, then you should definitely quit. This side has been nerfed constantly and consistently for five years with total disregard to mechanics freely given to killer that can make this side miserable to play. Instead of nerfing DS, more perks should be buffed to even discourage its use to help against unfun mechanics. Why couldn't Discordance be buffed instead of nerfing DS? Keep in mind, Infectious Freight on Nurse, Spirit, Oni, Billy are all still a thing, Infectious Freight has never been nerfed, keep in mind it can be abused to cause the survivor side to be miserable. The devs and killers think this perk is healthy, obviously, for the game. An insidious camper can still camp with NOED. A bubba can camp someone in the basement and there is no possible out, a killer recently BUFFED! The devs think this is healthy, obviously.
For me personally, I can not wait for Back 4 Blood, I've been thinking about that game a lot since it was announced and this nerf has made me even more excited and can't wait. Guess the best part is of B4B? Characters will not constantly be nerfed in that game, it will constantly improve. When you enjoy something in that game, you won't have to worry about something being taken away from you. Especially after you bought it.
I'm trying not to actually gloat at the changes but some of you make it hard. You've said on here before you've played since launch and DS in its current form didn't exist til years after that so you clearly managed somehow. This level of drama is excessive.

I was reading the screenshot with the OoO rework, but I don't understand what it has to do with hex perks and aura reading perks from killer? anyone?
This version would make you see the killer's aura whenever they see yours. It's not related to hex perks normally but undying will show the survivor's aura to the killer when they're near a dull totem, so it'll work in that case too.

That Show that playing survivor make fun. So why make it unfun with tunneling Killer?
Too many people are playing survivor because survivor isn't fun, got it. Any more pearls of wisdom to dispense?

Let me give you a full list of places where OoO is useful against, or at the very least easily confirms it's usage:
Perks:
I'm All Ears
BBQ
Nurses(massive one)
Bloodwarden(before the killer can hook someone)
Deerstalker(I mean, not THAT useful, but still a perk confirmation)
Retribution(massive one too)
Undying
Lightborn
Territorial Imperative
Addons:
All Seeing Blood
Scratched Mirror
Vanity Mirror(which is already kinda bad as you still have a Red Light AND decreased movementspeed, imagine now having practically permanent aura readings against a stealth build, sure, OoO already does that, but at least current OoO is rare, the new OoO would be a meta perk)
Glass fragment addons
Amanda's Letter
Amanda's Secret
Renjiro's Bloody Glove
Hellshire Iron
Tattoo's Middle Finger
Leprose Lichen(which is very niche, sure, but it would be utterly useless once new OoO is meta)
Glowing Concoction
Restraint addons
Hag's Willow addons
Essentially, there is going to be no reason not to run it. They better make it so that the perk doesnt light up whenever your aura is being shown, which I would assume would be the case. It already heavily impacts niche builds that are only effective because you dont know you are being watched. Even Distortion has limited uses and you dont necessarily know WHY Distortion is being triggered, let alone showing you where the killer is.
It basically means that, as a killer, if you want to use Aura based builds, you're going to need Third Seal.
I think a clever Myers with scratched mirror could definitely use it against them, with OoO just becoming a less reliable spine chill. Once you suspect or confirm they have it, just sneak up on them without stalking and they'll probably feel secure with the perk not lit up.

Bbq will work as a mini kindred to know who the killer is going towards and to know where another survivor is
can’t forget I’m all ears. Easy chase aura reading
retribution will work in your favour knowing who the killer is going to
seems pretty good to me
Good points, although I rarely see I'm all ears or retribution
A couple of killer addons I forgot were plague's black incense and Oni's iri glove one, with those it'll basically be current OoO 😅

The reason why Moris got changed is survivor should not get Killer after 60 secounds after the game begins. Ds Made sure the survivor has atleast a bit more time. But with nerfing that tunneler will Run rampage.
Yes getting tunnelled after you heal up, start doing a gen and other survivors have been hooked in the meantime will definitely become an issue, as tunnelling means being hooked more than once in the same match now I guess.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Thing is, they want to make it more anti-tunnel, but it does not work anymore when I get slugged (aka tunneled) unless I equip Unbreakable AND if the Killer needs 60 seconds to catch me again.
I am totally fine with the restrictions they mentioned, they make sense. But this only addresses one side, making it anti-tunnel from the restrictions, without making the effect anti-tunnel.
Run ds/ub? People probably won't get as much flak for it afterwards
-
I am 100% okay with locker DS staying with the other changes going through. If a survivor wants to leap into a locker right after getting unhooked when I wasn't even going for them, that's fine (might still eat it). If a survivor wants to do nothing useful for a minute apart from trying to get me to grab them out of a locker that's also fine.
My issue was them getting unhooked, healing up, working on a gen for a bit, getting hit again and then getting in a locker. That's where it just gets stupid.
-
I love it. It counters pop better since they nerfed that, it can counter ruin if you get chased off or need to go get a save, plus in solo queue I use it as a beacon to mean "I nearly finished this and got chased off it, go do it when you can" and surprisingly the message often gets through.

I played a spirit game while drunk yesterday and only got a 3k

monster Shrine that perk is to op
Seeing as most killers who run monstrous shrine are new, and brand new killers have an advantage against brand new survivors, the stats probably show monstrous shrine as overperforming
-
Yes it is turned on
No it doesn't work
No bhvr will not be discussing the matter further
-
"But seriously why play killer if it upsets you that much?"
1) masochism
2) survivor queue times
3) more bloodpoints
4) dailies + rift
5) masochism again
6) when it's fun it is really fun

Was thinking the same thing... How am I supposed to know who did the most or least work and deserves hatch? I only start keeping track of who's who if you get cocky with the teabags and flashlight spam. Other than that, you're all just meat bags to be sliced up and sacrificed.
On another note, I don't like the free hatch escape mechanic in general. If I 3k the team, I did my job, and I don't think it's fair that the last survivor gets a free escape due to luck of finding the hatch first. Hatch should only open up for free if there is 1 or 2 gens left, then at least they sorta worked for it, but 3+ gens left? No hatch for you imo. Keep on repairing or suck it up and die with dignity.
They won't keep repairing or die with dignity if they're the only one left and can't get hatch, they'll spend 30 minutes stealthing around doing nothing out of spite and you'll have no other way of ending the game. It's why hatch and EGC exist.
-
Because I think matchmaking failed and threw a brand new player in with me before it turns out they're a red rank.
-
Take two protection hits as david in one match - i'd only gotten one, the gate was open, the spirit was carrying the other remaining survivor to a hook nearby, and it was already revealed that she had noed.
The other survivor was streaming so I got to watch his reaction after as I threw myself in front of them
-
You'll probably have more luck with a swf, when one knows you want to farm they all will. Also it's better to start it off by downing one then dropping them till they wiggle off so they don't think you're just trying to trick them.
-
Annoying but kinda funny: a 4-man where 2 had deception and the other 2 had head on (chapter was recent and I'd forgotten what deception did)
Just annoying: the usual stuff, any of the pointlessly sweaty and meta crap people run when they're terrified of losing or think they're in one of these tournaments I hear so much about
-
I take having fun as wraith where I can get it
-
What goes on in the minds of the balance team is something that mere mortals cannot hope to comprehend

The problem is, sometimes the queue time takes so long, the game throw me out of the queue. What am I supposed to do then? Btw OhTofu said the game is harder for him in the morning. I don't know his time zone though.
I'm on EU so it might be different here. I don't play much in the morning but if I do I stick to survivor anyway - these days I just play whichever will have the best queue times.
@PlantCollector said:

Same goes for me. I'd also play survivor if the queue times weren't that high.
However, the killer games im getting during that time are either the sweaty ones (map offering included) or some purple or green ranks, which let their teammates die on hook just to selfcare in the corner. Either way it's not fun to play Killer during that period of time.
Also i can pass on playing farm maps or haddonfield over and over again. Because nowadays people have to annoy their opponents, just to have a even higher queue time. Makes sense.
When killer queues are instant and survivor queues are 20 minutes and they're putting on haddonfield offerings...
They like to live dangerously I guess :P
-
Playing at night means more swf and more people who take the game Very Seriously so not that many are inclined to play killer. I'd only play survivor myself at that time if the queue times weren't ridiculous.
-
..
-
Well I had a survivor off herself on hook yesterday when I was playing wraith with the addon that gives him a terror radius while cloaked...
So I think some players just wouldn't be satisfied with anything
-
I play her pretty often and she isn't weak at all. She's hard, because survivors don't heal in the conventional way so they don't waste time with that (only killer who can't make much use out of self care) and so gens fly, you can't afford to make mistakes and you have to snowball hard - which she's really good at
You're right that the emblem system doesn't work properly with her at all, but with new rank reset + mmr that'll be even less relevant. She has my favourite lore as well though and I want a tome with her pretty badly now as well
-
I think it was stridor (not on her)
-
Bhvr deliberately made queue times even longer to trick you into buying the twins, clearly
-
A lot of the "consistency" changes, like pig's terror radius. Especially seeing as there still isn't consistency unless they're planning on making nurse 115 to match her radius or myers 33m to match his speed.
Also the basic attack stuff for legion, who was clearly far too interesting a killer before. Was it technically inconsistent that frenzy attacks worked with 3rd seal and not noed? Yes. Did it make for more creative builds? Also yes. Was it mind-blowingly confusing? No.
-
Full heal straight off of hook is kinda dumb but idc as much these days as when back when every survivor ran it (and I was playing old freddy). I'd be nicer if pretty much every meta survivor didn't become completely insane at endgame, most of which are much more of a free escape than adrenaline.
-
In the interests of helping us git gud could you explain this key counterplay you speak of?
-
@Vicc said:
No tunnel No slug = No DS No UB ;)
No tunnelling + no slugging mean none of the perks get used up earlier and guarantee an escape if all gens get done. With the prevalence of these perks it makes sense to tunnel and slug early on to get them out of the way, even if there isn't much reason to otherwise.
-
You don't have type out "pay to win Freddy" every time you mention him, the point has been made. Yes you can escape that build in solo, no it isn't particularly fun, and they've confirmed he's getting nerfed at some point in the future
-
@Endorb said:
Last time I remember Killer queues being long was the first blighted halloween event, when the serum vials had an equal maximum for each side, and Killers had to do way more games, depending on how many people brought the event offerings
That and also when ghostface came out
-
It's definitely on from the games I've been having but they might just be testing it. Maybe that's why there's extra bp, so they get more players rn + more data?
Or they're just not going to say whenever they activate it now so they don't have to be embarrassed again when they have to turn it back off, with classic bhvr transparency.
-
There's a lot of spirit enthusiasts here so don't expect much sympathy. I don't actually mind playing against her as much as others but she's still ridiculous and her previous nerf addressed almost nothing about what's wrong with her except for prayer beads.
-
Probably not very well
-
This is correct. Survivors refuse to adapt to a G-tier killer instead of using simple counterplay like not falling asleep, not getting hit, not letting him bring paint brush or not loading into a freddy game in the first place. Please devs, come to your senses and give freddy the buff he needs and deserves.
-
I like to play nice(ish) when I can. I usually let the last one go, I don't change my playstyle when there's no obsession, and if I think I can realistically get a 12 hook game (well, 11) then I'll probably go for that. Glad I play like that as well considering what matchmaking has been doing recently.
-
In a corridor right next to the two existing and well-known god pallets there was another one. There's also some more unsafe ones.

I wasn't aware of that, so thanks for letting me know. How do you determine the intelligence of a post? If it's useless and has no meaning, I suppose it's unintelligent?
Pretty much yeah :)
-
@Roobnus said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1876139#Comment_1876139
You can say something without opening your mouth, what you're talking about is "speaking".
A post can be informative, a book can be saddening, a film can be brutal as those are simple adjectives that describe something.
The literal definition of intelligence is "being able to think". I can be well written or words can be smartly put, but that doesn't give a post intelligence.
True, it may not make the most logical sense but it's a very common + idiomatic adjective to use with even non-sentient things. Like you'd be ok using it that way even in academic or journalistic contexts.

I don't think my english is the problem here but your lack of understanding.
A post cannot have any form of intelligence. It can only be written by intelligent or stupid people and as a result, contain useful or useless information. You got that now?
No he's right. Inanimate objects or concepts can be more humanised in English so it makes sense to talk about a post that is (un)intelligent, angry, sad etc. in itself without reference to the author. Just as how it's common to say a text "says" something, although a piece of writing ofc can't literally speak.
-
@Leachy_Jr said:
Can we not call it a "tech".
A tech takes skill like the CJ tech and can be outplayed by the other side assuming they know it.
This is just abusing an exploit to not get picked up and the killer can do nothing especially if they have perks like soulbreakable.
Seriously. Might as well call equipping wake up when it was bugged the "wake up tech"
-
@Okapi said:
No MMR is not on. The reason MM is messed up right now is because there's not enough high rank (red/purple) killers for how many high rank survivors there are. Which at peak playing times (evenings and weekends) causes imbalanced matches and lengthy survivor queues.
True but I've been seeing the reverse now as well. As a killer in red ranks getting matches full of 15-18 survivors, during peak hours.
