I generally don't like it on either sides.
As survivor I'm getting quick queue times, but shoddy teammates who never do gens and usually go down in less than 10 seconds in the chase. Then the other two survivors spend their time unhooking in front of the killer to get downed as well. So most of the matches are only 3-5 minutes long with me being the sole survivor because everyone else is hooked, or I end up dying going for the save instead of just waiting and getting hatch. That's like 90% of my survivor matches.
Killer is even worse. Ridiculous 10-15 minute wait times per match. If I'm playing a killer I've played before, it's pretty even for the most part. If I'm playing a new killer one or one I've rarely played, I'm teamed against the most sweaty swf teams. I'm talking all meta perks, with at least 2 brand new parts, and 3 Haddonfield keys. While I only have 1-2 perks.
The whole reason I didn't play those killers before was because I didn't know how to play them, and I didn't want that exact scenario to happen. Because I was high rank,I didn't want to go against high rank survivors with a killer I had no experience on.
They said that would change with SBMM because it was based on each killer. But it's the complete opposite. How do you justify putting survivors with hundred or even thousands of hours against killers with maybe an hour total on that killer, and vice versa.
That's not a simple, oh play more games and it'll balance out. That's a, there's something wrong with the system. If I was playing my main, I could understand needing to play 20 games for it to even out. But putting survivors or killers with little to no hours, up against ones with a lot of hours, something doesn't add up there.
-
I think it was the , "I came" part, kinda broke the internet with that one.
Although I like it, maybe just remove that part and add the other line to it. There's so many lines that could be used if it's not a legal issue.
-
Just make his iridescent add-on base kit to where his first hook can injure.
Wouldn't change the box or chain hunts though. Watch Red's video of him using Pinhead's power how you're supposed to. It's super oppressive and makes it to where survivors rarely get a gen done if used properly.
-
Yeah definitely watch his trailer reveal. He wouldn't be hard to create either. But licensing would never allow it sadly.
-
Definitely optimization. There's so much more that this game could be, but it's being held back by bad and old coding and a framework that can't handle the stuff being added. It's going to keep getting worse as they add more content and chapters. I don't think with the large amount of content it already has, and the large player base and streamers, that your game would just die if you spent time fixing the game. In fact I think most people would be happier. Better graphics, better optimization, and the ability to add more stuff without issues? That's a lot more wanted than a new killer every 3 months.
This game wouldn't die from lack of new content.
-
Yeah I wasn't being an ass about it. I really wanted to understand your point of view. Which you still haven't explained. Just how scratch marks work. Which, everyone understands already. You haven't explained how it would be a "travesty". Yeah they're used to track, but so are blood stains. Yeah scratch marks are bright red and easier to track, sometimes, but so is a bright red visual and audio heartbeat on a killer. Why nix one but not both?
If you had read it, I explained my point to removing them, and why I think it would be healthier for the game.

I was distant from this post from as early on as the first suggestion. What a horrible 'thought'. Removing scratch marks would be the death of the game...
The only thing I can agree on here, remotely, is ranks, and perhaps more objectives if it's tied into specific Killers' kits.
Why would it be though? I'm not understanding. Do you spend all game looking down at the ground? Lol what would happen if you removed scratch marks??? You can still follow blood trails, which are way more reliable than scratches anyways. I could understand it if I had said just remove scratch marks, but I didn't. So said scratch marks and red stain/terror radius. Why remove one and not the other?

I do like some of the ideas I would like to add to your rank/pipping suggestion, I would love if this game and the community would stop playing this game so competitively. I think to make this game more fun and healthy is to go as over the top and be as bombastic as possible.
Funny enough it actually might be easier to balance things out if everything chaotic and more focused on the fun aspect instead of being some super serious comp game.
As for adding more objectives my friend and I talk a lot about what other objectives but there is one we both think would make a great idea. Did you ever play the one event where players had to collect those Chinese Lanturns? If you didnt the event was just both killers and survivors collect a set amount of lanturns to unlock event based skins. But the idea is after the last gen pops survivors would need to collect a lanturn before they leave to help navigate the fog past the gate, make enough lanturns spawn so killers wouldnt be able to block survivors from grabbing them. This would easily add extra stuff to do and prolong the endgame for killers a bit more.
But this is just my opinion on things but I do feel some of these changes would benefit the game a lot more than what we have been getting as of late.
I actually really like both of those ideas. I agree that people take this game too serious and really go out of their way just to win or bully the other side.
And I love the lantern idea. As the exit gate opens the fog closes in and gets denser the longer you're in it. And the lantern helps light the way so that you can escape. It actually makes sense and would be fun.

1. Removing scratchmarks would be one of the worst mistakes in the game, hell even scratchmarks bug from time to time making it harder for killer to track, that would also make running perks like iron will more common, or certain structures would be really strong since there is no way to track survivors other than crows.
Have you ever played against a blendette with IW and Lucky break on a map like dead dawg? They can just disappear.
2. Agree, there is no way people would disagree with this one.
3. Same as #2, no one really cares about rank.
4. We all thought that breakable walls would've been made by survivors, like they would have to make them then the killer has to break them but yeah really good point.
On the extreme mode you are talking about, that is exactly how I play most of the time, addonless with exceptions like trapper.
Also this brings up a great point and exactly why I don't want mmr in this game, how do you know if you win? What is a win? A game that doesn't tell you if you won or lose doesn't really need mmr but we do need a better matchmaking system.
This is also because of rank reset, people think that they are extremely good just because they are in red ranks, if we get actually reset like before then probably people would play with other people from their skill level.
Yeah you'd have to change some perks around to be able to actually get rid of scratch marks, but following the blood trails would be fine and makes more sense than imaginary scratch marks that only a killer can see for some reason. But you're right, a blendette who builds just to hide all game sucks. But they can do that now and there's no difference. They already do it lol but you can't get rid of terror radius and not scratch marks. It'd make it too one sided.
As far as ranks and MMR, I don't mean that exactly, even though that's what I explained. My point was just that the ranks need to go and a new system brought in is all. But yeah, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it.
-
It would make it worse. Because survivors would be even more focused on gen rushing and just holding W. We already have that but it'd just amplify it and make it worse. I'd much rather see more objectives for survivors. They added in breakable walls for killers, which just drains more time, but they haven't added anything for survivors. I think that'd be a lot healthier for the game overall. There'd be a lot less 5 minutes gen rush games.
-
So I switched to my main which is doctor, got sent to Ormond, and had to get sweaty for just a 3k. Because even with my shock, the way the tiles are, you can't catch up to them after shocking.
-
I just don't like the large maps because of the gen and pallet ratios. There's always dozens of pallets, most are safe, or loops where the only way to stop the loop is the breakable wall. Well while you're breaking walls a survivor is already gone. And there's also more gens. One of the best ways to stop gen rushing is letting them 3 gen themselves. But with the extra generators it's pretty much impossible.
I had a match on swamp with Leatherface and got all of one hook in. Because even with speed add-ons and hugging the walls, you couldn't catch up with them on the loops and long walls. I also had an initial chase that lasted less than a minute as I hit him with my power, picked him up and hooked him, and then 3 gens popped. One green toolkit and one prove thyself and that's all it took.
-
I think the game map was disabled for a while. But yeah I don't get indoor maps, ever. Just played another round on Ormond. The outdoor maps are just no fun. If I play survivor I know it's free wins, easily. If I'm killer, then I have to either be super sweaty and toxic, or lose. Like those are the only options. Especially if it's a SWF. And that's just not my playstyle, I don't enjoy it at all.
And it feels survivor is just faster than killers right now in all aspects. Like if I'm running in a straight line, even if it's a base movement killer, and they're running the same line, it takes them forever to catch up. Like just window vaulting and then holding W and I'm two tiles away already before they can even walk past the first tile.
-
I don't think it's stressful. It's a game, one where you don't lose anything if you have a bad match. Just play for fun
-
Yeah I've had multiple games where I've hit a survivor before they even started the animation, they scream, get a burst of speed, but aren't injured because of the roll back. If you're vaulting a pallet, and I hit you before you even get over the pallet, it should be a hit. Now if they're over the pallet, yeah that's a miss. But don't roll it back, but still give them the benefit of pretty much a free Sprint burst, but not give me the hit. You want to roll it back and not count it as a hit on my end, that's fine, I can still catch up. But not registering my hit, and making me stunned, and giving them a burst of speed all while they're still healthy is quite a bit unfair. It doesn't make any sense.
Before this change, yeah there were times where I may have gotten a hit that I wasn't supposed to, and I was always like "Yeah that shouldn't have hit."
But 90% of the time that didn't happen, if I swung too late I'd just hit air, the pallet, or eat a stun. I never felt like the game was wholly decided by one hit that shouldn't have happened. Now though, there's no option but to wait for them to throw it down. Because even if I swing, if they'll start throwing down a pallet or vaulting, I just have to wait for their animation to be done. Because it won't register a hit anyways. It's clunky, it looks downright bad, and adds even more time to chases and being looped. Now survivors can just go from pallet to pallet, just camping at each one because they know you can't swing through them.

can't honestly say it's worse than before, as a surv it is a bit better but playing killer is more or less the same disaster that was before.
If this fix came after 1/2 week it would have been acceptable, but after a month and a half of unplayable game, I was legitimately expecting a PERFECT fix.
Can't do much but reiterating that, for what it counts, BHVR won't see a cent from me anymore.
Before mine was bad anytime I played a killer that really required quick timing; nurse, legion, spirit, hag, plague, stuff like that. And would only occasionally get lag spikes when playing stuff like trapper or doctor. Now it's really bad on all killers I play. It's sad too because I was about to drop another $60-100 into this game for the rest of the killers and some cosmetics. But with it's current game state, I don't see myself spending any money on it in the near future. Which is sad because this is one of the only games I actually did drop money into. Oh well, I'll just do like Behavior said, and just start playing other games.

As we've mentioned multiple times, that is not intended. We have a new ranking an matchmaking system on the way that'll address that: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/
Idk I don't mind playing against red ranks if I'm purple rank. At yellow or green ranks, yes that's bad. But if I'm at purple ranks and want to rank up, I SHOULD play against people in the ranks that I'm trying to get to. Not every single game, but at least once I start getting on that cusp of ranking up. Like if I'm rank 9, Yeah put me in with rank 8's and 7's. How else am I going to grow my skill if I'm not playing against better players than myself? If I'm just playing against people I can wipe the floor with, I'm never going to get better.
IF IT DOESN'T CHALLENGE YOU, IT DOESN'T CHANGE YOU

Great: Clowns hindered effect addon.
Terrible: Doctor's electric probes

Okay I give up. Just tell me lol
-
I think using them occasionally is fine, I don't usually run decisive, but having one in your build isn't bad. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's nice to have something that forgives making a mistake. Or using it to counter hardcore campers. But I'll never run all four of those at the same time. I feel like people who do run that build, do so to make up for them being bad. You shouldn't need 4 get out of jail free cards. I've seen survivors run Adrenaline, DS, DH, and either unbreakable or BT because they were bad at looping. And I feel that builds like those encourage camping.
I'd much rather have a forgiving perk like DH or DS, with spine chill or another information perk, an exhausting perk like balanced landing, and then something like prove thyself for gen speeds.
-
I used to play her a lot. I stopped before the ruin nerf. Mostly because of levelling other killers, and practicing them, but also because I'm in higher ranks. In low ranks, she's a lot of fun and can scare new people. High ranks though she's easily countered and most survivors know how. So you end up with a slow killer and a power that you don't get much real use out of, makes it kinda boring. But with the right perks and adds she call still dominate.
-
Doctor is the first one I really picked up and played consistently. I enjoyed his power and his laugh after shocking people. Then picked up clown because I really wanted PGTW, and just enjoyed his laughing mechanic as well. Then picked up Legion. Those are the 3 I play the most now. It used to be Doctor Hag and Freddy, but I got tired of playing around totems as hag and I just randomly stopped using Freddy one day.
-
You get this A LOTTTTTTT on xbox. I guess no one told the 12 year olds that halo reach is included in game pass now 😂
-
I play mostly killer these days, and I don't really find it stressful or not fun (I wouldn't continue playing if I did). I agree with some of the above statements though. Certain killers are very addon/perk dependent. If you're playing one of these killers and aren't really using perks and addons that are strong or synergize well together, you're probably going to have a bad match. Add in a really big survivor sided map, and it's probably gonna be a bad match. Once you get used to the right builds though on killers, it becomes a lot easier. I say get used to certain builds, because you might have a good build, but don't know how to play around it's strengths yet, I've had that happen. Would play a match with a build that I thought would be good, ended up getting wrecked. Looked back at what I was or wasn't doing last match, and then changed my playstyle to match my build, then would go on to 4k the next 6 matches because I learned to play into my build. There's a lot of micro And macro play that you have to learn in this game. Gotta learn killers strengths and weaknesses, and what builds play to those strengths.
Also, stop running hex perks except in specific killers/builds! Lol I rarely use hex perks because they're easily destroyed, unreliable, and leave you with only 3 perks of it does get destroyed. I only use hex perks in certain situations, like Huntresses lullaby with overcharge, unnerving, and distressing for an impossible skill check build. Or if I'm running devour hope, then I'm also running bbq and make your choice for a good b expose build. That way even if it does get destroyed, I have strong back up perks. Especially on killers who have trouble protecting their totems, which is most of them, I find them pretty useless. You'll be much better off with more permanent perks.
-
It actually didn't take me too long. I first started and loved the nurses look and power, so I used her. And got DESTROYED every single match. So I stopped playing. Never picked it up for like a year. Then I started watching YouTube videos of it and started wanting to learn to play. I didn't have experience but I just copied the movements of streamers and other high ranking killers. So it was easier to learn because I had no other knowledge of the game. No useless self created bad habits and information that would bog me down. When I started back Doctor looked pretty interesting, and the Hag information said she was easy to use. So I started using those two and really found my niche. I was very good at crowd and map control. I'm like that in every game too. So I found killers that I was really good at and started ranking up. Eventually I found myself in green ranks and I was pretty good. But I kept going against red ranks and hit a wall, getting really frustrated with it too. Until I realized that the difference between me, and the red ranks and higher tier players, was our difference in skill sets.
Once I realized this, I started looking back on matches where I lost and found 1-2 mistakes that I made and focused on fixing those mistakes in the next match. My skills jumped at this point and I found myself hitting red ranks and 4k most matches. I'm still nowhere near people like Scott Jund, but I'm good, and that means I still have somewhere to work towards.
And then I realized ranks don't matter :'D and that I don't get anything from it. So there's that lol

I do play both, and most that play both or just survivor agree. Which I mentioned before lol you should really learn to read dude lol

Nah I don't buy into the Dwight meme train lol Jane has real meat. And not like that meat that's in Bubbas chili. I'm pretty sure that's raccoon meat...
-
I think the huge consensus is.... They don't. Most people don't think killers need any more nerfs. What's more important to point out, a lot of survivors who actually have experience have expressed their opinion that killers are either balanced or under powered right now. But none seem to be actually overpowered. And as someone who also plays both sides, I've never felt like a lost a game as survivor because the killer was just too strong. Usually it's because I made a mistake, or a few mistakes.
But I have a question for the one who posted this. You've made multiple posts trying to call people to rise up and say that killers or a specific killer is overpowered. Yet no one actually agrees with you. So what are you trying to accomplish? Are you just looking for attention? Or are you trying to find other players who are just as bad at the game as you are? You're like that one person who starts a slow clap and nobody else starts clapping lol

It doesn’t matter. I’ve seen enough people complaining that he will get nerfed.
Oh you dear baby survivor lol he's not getting nerfed 😂 just because you've seen other baby survivors complaining doesn't mean anything. He's actually one of the more balanced killers now. I think you should go back to playing peaceful mode on minecraft so that you'll be more within your skill range.

It's funny watching survivor mains complain in a game that's heavily survivor favored, right after a patch that nerfed a widely used killer perk, all because you don't know how to play against a few changes on a killer?
Instead of even looking at your own things that you can improve on, you immediately call for a nerf. You're saying the whole game is not fun because you had a bad match? Sounds like a losing mindset. I'd much rather you go play something else lol don't need that rubbing off on people.
Or maybe try what everyone tells killers? Just git gud.

I would advise atleast always having a high level killer that you're good with. Personally when I finish leveling a killer up to P3 I drop another million bloodpoints into them so that I have a load of items and offerings. I also play alot of the time using only grey addons or none at all so i really dont use up my stuff very quickly. Definetly level up Bubba to get BBQ amd Chili because you'll be getting roughly 50k bp a game. That's the nice thing about killers, they get alot of bp
I don't think I'm gonna prestige again lol I don't care about the cosmetics as I already have some. And the increases to finding rarer addons I feel is not all that significant. I would only suggest it to players wanting the bloody cosmetics lol or if you just want bragging rights.
-
Killer: overwhelming presence, it's completely useless
Survivor: Decisive because it's a constant effect that can be used multiple times on every survivor. It's pretty much like they stock piled get out of jail free cards.
Noed is pretty easy to counter. You might get one down off before it's destroyed. That happens about 90% of the time if it doesn't just not activate or get destroyed immediately
-
Ormunds. And by update I mean just hit the delete button on it :'D

Idk he could be a really good stealth killer. Sneaking around up behind people, but he'd need a new mechanic, something like a jump mechanic that he can close distance with. Or something that brings survivors to his level. But I'd like to see him and other franchise killers like pinhead.

Not everyone wants to continuously get better at a game. Most people who play this game want to play it casually. Why don't we flip the situation around and match level 15 survivors with rank 1 killers. Should matchmaking allow that because it would force them to get better? Lets up the chance for the killer and force survivors to constantly play against a Pro Nurse. Would low ranks like that and be encouraged to get better? No, the community will die a fast death.
People shouldn't be matched with others more than 2/3 levels apart.
I have played with rank 15-20 survivors as a red rank, and no I don't think that's fair. And I also don't think that you should always be paired with people 2-3 ranks above you. But then again, I never said they should. I said if you're playing to get better and if you're ranking up that you should have to play against people a rank above you, Because that advances your skill and makes it to where you earn your spot. Overall you'll still be playing against people on your level because you increased your skill set. This wouldn't apply to people who don't want to increase their skills or get better because they'll never make it past yellow ranks. I've also mentioned in other posts, not this one mind you, that a normal unranked mode should be introduced for more casual players. You could also offer multiple ranked modes, 1 for solo and one for SFW groups. And killers can choose which one to partake in. Introduce then cosmetic rewards for different rankings and BOOM! Everyone's happy.

No thank you, Daddy Michael makes me stain my undies often enough. Not to mention removing scratch marks will make Claudette ascend into complete Shadowform.
You're right, but if they fixed sounds, made them more discerning, it would help a lot with finding her. Like when they're trying to crouch through tall grass, that should make a noise. Now if they're just hiding behind a wall not doing anything but crouching? Yeah it'd be impossible to find them. But scratch marks doesn't change that right now lol because if they're crouching they don't leave them anyways
-
You'd still be able to look behind you still, but this would eliminate being able to just 360 the whole match lol you'd have to actually have a strategy for getting away outside of doing little flicks
-
Like could you imagine having to play in 1st person as a survivor as well? With a button to look behind you. That one little thing would change the whole dynamic of the game. It would require more teamwork, a lot less gen rushing cause you'd need someone to keep constant watch. Far more strategies other than just M1 for the win.
-
I've been saying it for a while, and I'll keep saying it lol. Remove terror radius heart beat, Remove red stain, Remove red scratch marks. The game would be awesome! One of the things I hate most as a survivor is knowing when the killer is coming. It's not scary and makes them a lot easier to just, avoid. I'd rather not know they're coming and have to actually play safe and constantly watch my back. It'd actually make it scary again and a lot more fun as both survivor and killer. And killers would actually have to hunt for survivors. But it would allow a lot more mind games too. You'd see a huge change in skill sets, and a complete change in killers and viability. I'd love it
-
I also had a build in mind but don't have all the perks yet to run it. So if you can let me know how it goes? Lol
Legion: if you haven't noticed I enjoy him lol
Addons:
Iridescent button- just for breaking pallets
Julies mix tape- reduce cooldown i.e. stun coming out of frenzy.
Perks:
Play with your food
Bamboozle
Make your choice
And either spirit fury, monitor and abuse, or enduring.
Whole idea is to reduce chases quickly, be super quick, and instant down with M1 on survivors after they get the unhook. Pretty much only using frenzy initially to find everyone the first time and help with your first down. Then only using it to break pallets instantly.
Pls someone test it out and let me know ^_^

The second one, the one with monitor and abuse. I mean why would you bring monitor and abuse and distressing lol the first one reduces your terror radius and the second one completely negates the first one because it increases your terror radius, coulrophobia is overall a bad perk mainly because survivors in the red ranks no longer use self-care, most of them just run inner strength or resilience and dead hard. Unnerving presence and overcharge is a good combo though I'll give you that.
You didn't read lol I took off distressing Because I was running iridescent button. I'd never run distressing and m&a, that's pointless. I ran sloppy butcher, clourophobia, unnerving presence, and m&a. M&A is great on legion cause I can get closer after I've applied deep wounds and I'm out of frenzy. Iridescent button makes clourophobia and unnerving presence and sloppy amazing!
You pretty much go into frenzy, hit everyone you can. Then with the green knife add on by the time they're done mending my frenzy is up again. I can frenzy any time they're trying to heal to gain the most from my perks as when I'm in frenzy they're all affected by my perks. Then once I find someone I use m&a to sneak up close and down them.
It slows the game down a lot and gives them a choice. Spend forever healing, and not doing gens, or risk being downed immediately when I find you.

Which one? Because they both worked for me against red rank survivors lol in fact it's one of my most favorite/most used builds rn. Minus the mori, I rarely use a mori.
-
Nah you gotta zap and tap lol. I only zap when I'm trying to end they're looping. Other than that I use shock blast a lot. Never have a problem getting them to tier 3 though even though I'm not constantly zapping.
