im so sorry i only just seen that you replied, you still having the issue? i can do a screen recording to show you if you like? do you wanna discord me? my discord is: milk_0_o
I mean, if you can succesfully increase it above 100% it'd be a massive help. I'll send you a friend request.

And I didn't see yours because the forum sometimes just randomly doesn't notify one of as much.
If you have DbD in a window, the rest of your screen is still displaying things, so it shouldn't pose the same "uneven wear" issue that black bars might.
The window itself will cause burn in then, that is not an option with an oled panel. It'd be much easier if the resolution scale option worked like it used to.

@hexmilk said:
thats normal, change the window mode to fullscreen/windowed etc until it allows you to edit the values, then just change it back, done.
This does not help, it stays at 100%. I tried to change the window mode in-game, then from GameUserSettings. It does nothing.

This does nothing. No matter if I change the window mode in the game, or in the GameUserSettings-file, resolution scale still stays at 100% and won't increase. Apparently nobody, even the devs can help with this, I've asked everywhere.
-
She (He?) is still extremely hard to counter as survivor, I'm not saying she needs nerfs or buffs, but she's a very strong killer in a chase. Whatever nerfs they did, it doesn't seem to slow her down.

Wait, what? Change how? Alt + enter? Before the Alien update I just changed two .ini file values, and it worked. I have true fullscreen enabled through the .ini, and the Steam launch-prompts thing, whatever it's called.
I'd appreciate if you could elaborate, I don't understand.

In the process of BHVR transitioning some of these settings to the in-game menu, a few things have unfortunately been lost. I noticed this due to having to now use external means to limit my framerate to anything that isn't one of the given values in the menu. The resolution scaling not accepting values outside of the menu's range seems to be another such unfortunate change.
I had used higher-than-100% resolution scaling myself in the past, I know it worked and now it doesn't. Maybe I can figure something out, but for now I guess you are just out of luck. Especially if DbD doesn't support driver-side DSR and the like.
For the time being, there's filters to help with the blurriness like I said. And disabling TAA if you haven't already. You can also play DbD in a 16:9 window instead, then you won't have black bars to worry about and the game will still be sharp.
I didn't see your comment back then. Not using all of the screen is not an option with an OLED. You will cause uneven pixel wear, and it gets noticeable. And DSR/DLDSR are not options for this game, since like I said, the only way to play this game properly on an ultrawide is stretched 16:9 resolution. The highest 16:9 resolution my monitor supports is 2560x1440, since the vertical resolution is 1440p. The forum hosts themselves claimed that this is a "technical issue, use Ask The Community instead". I don't think they know what they're talking about.
-
If you're talking about the killers that spin fast as ######### and kill everyone within 5 seconds, those are bots, not actual people.

I don't know about that, but maybe you can report that to this forum's bug report section if you think that is a bug.
Didn't realize there was something like this here. Thanks.

Black bars on the side aren't a problem for QD-OLED display burn in, as the pixels are literally turned off. As others have said go into your respective gpu's control panel and set dsr factors higher for a better upscaled resolution
Sorry but I only need advice about the resolution scale issue. If you use an OLED monitor with black bars enough, it causes uneven pixel wear and it becomes noticeable. DSR, and DLDSR are not an option with this game, since this game clearly has an issue with ultrawide users. If I enable my native ultrawide resolution, my field of view from the bottom, and top of the screen is limited. The only way to do this properly is to increase the resolution scaling. I have played this game for years. Until the Alien update, it worked flawlessly.

My monitor is a QD-OLED, so playing at 16:9 with black bars is not an option. I know all about the .ini file read-only boxes and the like. Like I said before the alien update it worked like it should. I was playing at stretched 2560x1440 at 145% resolution scale. Game looked great.
ScreenRenderSize? Haven't heard about that, I'll try it out today and I will give you an update.
Something interesting I noticed, if I un-check the "read only" box, ScreenRenderSize resets itself to 100. I tested it out, other changes, like hud adjusting in the .ini file do work, its just the resolution scale value changing that does absolutely nothing.

First of all, you don't necessarily need to stretch the game to fit your monitor at a 16:9 resolution, you can use the fullscreen mode and set your monitor to render black bars at the sides, displaying the game at 16:9. This should already help make the game less blurry (and less disproportional). You can also disable the Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA), which is the culprit behind some of the blurriness. NVIDIA and Reshade filters can sharpen your game further.
I haven't used the widescreen support setting, why would BHVR make it reduce the FOV? I thought it's there simply to render the game in 16:9 on ultrawide monitors, even in windowed fullscreen.
Lastly, I think the issue you might be running into with using an above-1 resolution scaling is that the config variables for that have changed, and you may have had your config file on read-only mode, or are tinkering with the old, left-over setting. It used to be "ScreenResolution", it is now ScreenRenderSize.
Nope. No matter what I do. I un-checked the "read only" (it has always worked with it checked), set the ScreenRenderSize to same as the desired resolution scale percentage, still nothing. Still at 100%. Don't understand what's the issue. Can you get it to go above 100%?

Full HD is 1920x1080
2560x1440 is 2K
Both are 16:9, not ultra wide. You need to set resolution to 2560 or 2K. With 1920 it will get blurry.
Yeah, I explained it all in the post. The game's own "ultrawide support" is trash, you get black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. My current resolution is 2560x1440p stretched to 21:9. But that's beside the point. Even if I could enable 3440x1440p (monitors native resolution) on DBD it would still be too blurry to me because of the games bad anti-aliasing. And like I said, I have plenty of performance to spare. The game can only do 120fps.
The issue here, is that before the Alien update I had my resolution scale at 145%, and the game looked good. Now its at 100% and I can't get it above that at all.

I don't use a controller, so I didn't know about that. But this also sounds bad.
Yeah me neither anymore, PC is way better. But got around 3k hours on DBD on my Ps4.

@LapisInfernalis said:
The main problem controller users have with dbd is the keybinds. Most famous offender: pallet drop vs. healing.
And the lack of a deadzone adjusting setting, don't forget that.

Sorry but old Iron Will WAS a problem for the game, audio is extremely important, and having a perk that makes you permanently 100% silent while injured was a massive advantage.
People just underestimate it now due to how broken it was before, i use it every now and then and its surprisingly useful at mindgaming.
Also, you would be surprised at the rise in popularity of Calm Spirit lately.
Back then the killers chase music and survivors footsteps were balanced way better, you could actually hear survivors footsteps in a chase. But in the state the of the game rn I agree.

With this update the GameUserSettings got an update as well. You need to save whatever you customised somewhere, then uncheck the "read only" and start the game (there's an fps drop down in game now, as well as the option to turn anti aliasing off \o/ ). Close the game again, open GameUserSettings, customise things the way you like again, save, set to read only and the things you changed should show up in game as well.
Did you get it to work? I have the GameUserSettings file in both Windows and WindowsNoEditor folders, did this and it didn't change anything.

Unfortunately didn't work, resolution scale is still at 100% and the game looks horrible.

Really shouldn't use it on Huntress, because Huntress is excellent in preventing vaults and also heavily relies on vaults to hit hatchets.
-
Which survivor should I...? Ace.
-
Without exhaustion perks the game would be much more boring. Cmon now.
-
I enjoy playing as Freddy, at least with fake pallets. His addons could use some buffs, maybe a shorter cooldown for gen teleport as well.
-
For me most of the time its a mix of Weskers, and extremely sweaty Blights.
-
As Trapper you would have to get some really good trap placements in/luck to even have a chance.
-
He made a lot of people smile. Rest easy Max.
-
The perk is fine, makes some tiles much easier for killer. It does not need a nerf though.
-
Most times I try to get back at them as well as I can. However if Im not too annoyed I just let it go.
-
Thats hilarious.
-
I agree, I dont see a point in removing interacting with killer powers.
-
@Veinslay said:
Beating 3 gens is easy, just apply gen pressure
How are you going to do that against a Skull Merchant? Soon as you enter the drone radius the hearbeat goes down, she'll just come to the gen where you're working on. Can't really do gens with the drone on you, since you can't hear where she is.
-
When DH gets nerfed, you start to whine about SB. When SB gets nerfed, you start to whine about Lithe. When Lithe gets nerfed, you start to whine about Overcome. This won't lead anywhere. Without exhaustion perks the game would just be less fun.
-
If you still in 2023 miss when survivors spin, its definitely on you lol.

As a Survivor yes
Not as killer
A David was afk when I played Pig yesterday and I tried it. I had to get almost right up his ass to hear it. I can try it again today to confirm it.

This has pretty much always been the case no?
No, I am 100% certain before this last update you could hear her traps from a distance. Now you have to be closer than lunging distance to hear anything. They definitely nerfed it. Or its an unintentional bug.

At this point I hardly even care about bloodpoints considering how overinflated the ingame economy is. What I care about however is my personal enjoyment of the match. I didn't have fun and the postgame conversations only made my mood worse. No amount of bp bribery can make up for that.
Not about bribes, BP indicates how well you did your 4 main objectives.
-
Look at the amount of BP you got compared to the survs. I'd say you played great.

This is also dependent on the killer played
A killer like Oni or Dredge benefit A LOT more from slugging since they can get more value out of their power
Oh yes. With Oni I almost always slug.
-
They have a setting to not display others names for people just like you. Let others have fun.
-
Survivor is way easier at top MMR for sure.
-
They nerfed DH and medkits. At this point just zip it and get better. End of story. Although some weaker killers are in desperate needs of buffs for sure.
-
I dont get the complaints around slugging. Slugging is a worse strategy than just hooking survs, unless you have a build around slugging. I usually slug as killer if I think I can get another hit/down before the downed person is picked up.
-
Isnt much you can do than use perks that do that and/or use killers good enough to be able to down those players fast. Or you can get lucky. But thats not a very reliable way to win.
-
Gotta be Tapp or Yoichi.
-
I miss being able to nod while crouching/walking/running.
-
They should have reverted his power nerfs a long time ago.
