Has there ever been such a direct bait though?

(Serious question, I think a bait like this could upset many people but if it has happened before then it’s possible)

The Stranger Things chapter teaser was very obvious, but I think it was teased much closer to the trailer's release.

If it's not, then I suppose I'll be disappointed for a couple days, but it'll pass. If it is, I'll be very happy for quite a while.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293559#Comment_1293559

I've asked that before, nobody has answered yet. Hopefully the fact that I'm mentioning this now will get someone to reply, but I doubt it.

I mean if you're looking forward to it being candyman go for it, but I'd suggest lowering your expectations because of what Mooks said. That Twitter post a while ago is too obvious for it to be a teaser.

  • I think with both the feather addons that reduce the cooldown between throws, that recovery phase is near instant and you lose almost no distance when you throw a bottle which makes him almost decent, so having that as his default recovery time would definitely make him a lot better. Then you'd be able to run his slowdown addons which would actually allow him to do what he's supposed to do, which is shut down loops and end chases fast because right now if you don't run those addons there's literally 0 point to using the bottles in an open area, their only use is to force survivors to medium vault windows.

  • Just in case this isn't bait (because brand new account, very obvious bait topic etc.) am I the only one that finds facecamping hilarious? Idk man but coming from someone who watched/watches a lot of Marvel 2 and 3, and Fighting Games in general, the "scummy tactics" in DbD are so tame in comparison to the ######### you see in FGs and FPSs. It's not the best comparison but the level of salt they generate in FGs is so much worse than whatever generates salt in DbD, which is apparently almost everything at this point.

  • I still don't understand what motivates people to make posts like this, because never in my life have I seen a community so hell-bent on outing salty people who LOST. Like what do you hope to gain from making a post like this? A bunch of people to come in here and say "toxic behaviour bad"? Just move on, this kind of behaviour is so pointless to even discuss and shouldn't be given the time of day. The reason why people think it's such an issue on these forums and Reddit is because everyone keeps talking about it.

  • Suppose I agree with most of this. But imo I'd swap Freddy with Doctor, Spirit with Hag and Deathslinger with Oni.

So mine would look something like this

    image.png

Edit: actually I might put Legion a few positions higher. Their power doesn't do much against good survivors, but against bad ones...oh boi did someone call for the best stalling mechanic in the game? That and they rely on you being good at ending chases fast, be it with good looping or aggressive perks (It's why I think Legion is one of the best killers to play if you want to get better at the game and practice your fundamentals because they rely on them to be good). If I were to move them, it would be just above Trapper.

Basically everything. Was able to heal instantly with For the People and was healthy instantly as well, unlimited Flashlight, spamming Hook Animation, Speedhack... Game freezes. Yesterday he was one of the 4 Hackers I encountered, I recognized the name (this time as Legacy Claudette...Windows Store btw.). And as soon as I joined as Killer, Lobby was frozen again... ^^

My personal highlight yesterday was a Billy who was using Kindred.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293700#Comment_1293700

    Ah, gotcha. Makes sense!

A killer can give themselves kindred? Holy ######### that's hilarious lmao

  • I can't wait when it's revealed that it's not candyman. I just can't wait.

  • Honestly the less nerfs the better. More buffs would make the game so much more interesting and fresh. Sure, get rid of things like iri head that are actually busted, but start giving killers and survivors meaningful changes that make the game actually fun and different. I'm sure me and a lot of other people could write a list of QoL changes to be implemented to the game that would take 15 minutes each to code and would help so much. I get that this is not how maintaining a live service works, but I just want the Devs continue their current trend of changing a bunch of features for the better (map changes, promised graphics options..we need more of this, not more killers and updates that changes 1 feature and breaks 6 existing ones)

... that's my take on it

  • @MrDecisive said:

ngl im a spirit main so i know every little thing about her and its clearly obvious when she starts to phase also the spirit is made to trick survivors to go to place to place without being seen shes a spirit. she is counterable try new things vault the pallet twice or fake out scratch marks she cant see you in phase so shes guessing where you are. when she isn't shes trying to trick you it is obvious. When she starts phasing her animation resets or changes instantly and her hair returns to normal position, "nO tHeRe Is No WaY tO tEll" yes there is and if you don't notice you're blind when she stands there keep your eyes on her and wait for the animation change its noticeable and i've noticed experienced players tend to know when shes phasing. there isnt audio que when shes phasing but there is visual.

Passive phasing is meant to be there that's the whole point of it is to reduce visuals when moving to catch survivors off guard

Also why is legion in this, legion is legion hes a different killer therefore different reasons for him.(them)

they've changed the spirit already and chances are they aren't gonna do it again

...there is no animation change, and if there is that's a bug and it will be fixed soon. You can't ever tell based on the visual feedback alone if she's phasing or standing still, unless you look at her shards, which you can't see unless you're 2 feet away from her, which will result in you getting hit 100% of the time.

  • Freddy is just a bit boring compared to most killers and there's nothing to him mechanics wise. I actually really liked old Freddy as a concept but it needed some more work for him to be a truly fun killer IMO. That being said current Freddy is fine. He's about as basic as they come and that's ok. His dream mechanics are a tad overtuned though. Personally I'd make it so you can wake up at any clock, but are pulled into the dream world slightly faster, and remove the oblivious status effect so he doesn't naturally counter borrowed time and also so a survivor who's running object doesn't have literal permanent wallhacks on him which is just ridiculous.

  • I'd say Clown or Wraith are much more broken than Pig. Clown carries and throws around all these glass bottles which is not only bad for the environment but is impossible to do. Also have you seen his expert drink mixing skills? Way too overpowered.

As for Wraith he can literally go invisible. This is a problem because he literally travels into another world to go invisible and move faster this is a level of raw power that I'm not able to comprehend. Pls nerf.

I'd feel ripped off. I've purchased every DLC so far, and just might stop here if it's really Candyman. Horror Movie buff here and Candyman is not iconic. So if it's really Candyman it'll just prove a point how big a joke these Devs really are for calling something iconic that's not. I can think of real iconic killers to put in game.

How would you feel ripped off if you have the choice to not buy the DLC lmao.

  • Honestly all I'm hoping for at this point is a new killer and survivor along with some QoL changes that can actually keep my interest. FOV options, more graphics options, more solo survivor QoL changes that sort of thing. And I hope for the new killer to have some cool new mechanics or playstyle. I've given up on hoping for new good perks for both sides so the killer mechanics and map are the only two things I'm interested to see.

I just had three matches with 4k in a row (And I barely use her, I am a main Pig). Like bear traps, you need to place them in high grass or places where it will be impossible for survivors to see nor guess. I have placed traps near the shack as an example, knowing that there is a nice loop there survivors keep running into my traps.

You need to know where to place traps and the difference with Trapper is, there is not action to disarm traps, with trapper if you walk, you'll see the disarm option, with Hag you won't. Flashlights on Hag are not even common to start with. Trapper needs to walk to a bear trap and pick it up in order to use it. Hag doesn't, Hag can place traps whenever she wants. I do agree that smaller maps like "the game" makes the game easier for her, since she can teleport at a range of 40 meters, if you don't use add-ons. 40 meters in biger maps are almost 1/3 of the map so you don't need to be insanely close to use her traps.

Besides... Spirit has 110% as well, his power forces hard not to see survivors. The best way to use his power is to return to the hook and tunnel. I think it's a poor design. Is not awful to play with her?

If you didn't catch it, I was being sarcastic, Spirit is by far one of the best killer in the game, of course if you don't know how to use her then yes, you will probably loss. I lost 5 matches with the doctor when I bought the game a year ago, and look how many people complained and complains about him.

I'm not sure if you responded to the right person because it doesn't make much sense if you were replying to my comment, but I am aware that hag is good, and so is Spirit. Their powers just give you free hits and that's all you really need. Not much to them and they both enforce a stupidly boring playstyle imo. I want to actually chase and interact with survivors and Hag's whole shtick is based around not doing that. At least with Trapper I have 115% movement speed and I can set and forget some traps. This is why I think her design is crap, but if some people in this thread like her then go nuts, but I personally enjoy chasing people rather than chasing my will to stay awake when playing as and against her.

  • I think Spirit is still at the top of my hate list and I think everyone knows why and I don't have to go into it. Deathslinger and Nurse both have the same levels of "well guess I'm #########" but at least they have the decency to end chases quickly, and with Oni at least around half of the game is pretty normal before he starts getting his no-fun-allowed gamer mode power more often (it also looks Incredible and his chase music absolutely slaps so he barely misses the hate list). Spirits chases are so much longer than I want them to be. It's not even rewarding when you guess right once, it's so unfathomably boring.

  • Enduring, spirit fury, BBQ, infectious. ######### gens, make survivor go AAA instead. I'm actually slowly becoming a Myers main again too, whatever they did to his stalking in the latest update made it quite a bit better than it was before. It's still pretty bad at times but he's far from unplayable now. Gotta give credit where it's due, props to the Devs for making good progress on his bugs.

  • The rework to her add-ons and basekit are fine. It's the bugs that sometimes make her insufferable to play. She's not the only killer with bugs but I experience bugs with her the most out of almost any killer other than Billy and Myers who are both walking, living issues right now but still...

  • Doc is actually one of my favourite killers to go against...I have no idea why but he is, I don't even like playing as him that much. Maybe it's the fact that he's constantly chasing people, nobody can hide, which is the most boring thing to do in this game, so everyone's getting involved. And imo, his loop denial abilities are more fun than a lot of other killers...( 🔫 . This was the best gun I could find but you get the point). He's good but he's not overwhelming or broken. I'm also a HUGE fan of the "mad scientist" theme in media and his laugh and visual design are both amazing.

What is it with Yui profile pictures and doing nothing but bitching about Killer mains? I have never seen someone on this forum with a Yui pfp doing anything other than whining about Killers whining.

I've found there's a few pfp's that all seem to follow a trend. Yuis are survivor mains, Lauries are...a mixed bag, Dwights, Aces, Steves are the ones who argue quite a bit. Billies and Nurses have some..."interesting" killer takes a lot of the time and seem to have been on the forums the longest. Zarinas are mostly just complacent with everything and are the most respectful.

I may be looking into it too much but I think there's some psychological ######### behind it.

Let's see, a 110 killer, aka a killer with 0 map pressure, who's traps can be disarmed by walking over them if she isn't in the general vicinity? Do I want to distribute them all over the map, and have the majority of them be useless.....or do I want to concentrate them in one area where I can teleport to any single one of them if they are triggered? Aka a 3 gen or near a hook? Hmmm, tough choices.

That's like saying trapper isn't made for camping. Even the most beloved trapper mains (otzdarva) describes the trapper as "territorial" (aka someone who camps). Ohtofu, another beloved streamer, describes the hags power as "good for camping" in his tier list.

Let me spend 30-60 seconds setting up traps and then walk away from them so they are worthless. During a chase, anyone with a flashlight can disarm your traps before they are triggered, rendering your power worthless if they are any good. And even a yellow flashlight can disarm like 20+ traps with it's default charges. That means to get anyone using one, they have to step into the traps unaware.

Sure, you can do some battle hag moves and pretend you are going to teleport to a trap during a chase but then not take it and omg 9000 IQ mindgame, but that's such a suboptimal playstyle it's hardly worth mentioning. Sorry to break it to you. If you want to chase people down, play another killer who is designed for it.

Basically this. Hag's only playstyle is constant proxy camping and being as uninteractive as possible. Do anything else and you get destroyed and you're not playing her right. It why I think she's possibly the worst designed killer in the game, below Deathslinger and Spirit (who are also 110, hm...seems like there's a trend here). An ability that forces the most lame kind of playstyle is poor design imo.

  • tunnels

"Why am I getting these messages from survivors asking why I'm tunnelling them? I must report this to the forums like a good killer main and shame them!"

  • Blendettes are the only one I want to see less, both killer and survivor. How sweaty does one have to be to pick P3 Claudette with the sole intention of gaining an advantage over everyone else and being the most insufferable and most hated kind of player in the game?

Everyone else is cool tho. I wanna see more Lauries, we're not represented enough imo.

  • What do you mean you can't hear the near-silent terror radius music from 16m away? What do you mean that you can't dodge an unreactable, unpredictable, instant wind-up ranged ability that counters almost every loop and tile in the game?

Honestly you should've just played better I don't see the problem here.

  • People have already said it, but the Devs have literally stated that it is not an anti tunnel perk...yet what do survivors suffer from if they don't run DS...and what do they use DS for...hmmm

  • She looked in the direction that object was lighting up in and ran towards you. That's how. You can easily triangulate a killers position with object even if they have undetectable.

  • A garbage perk tbh. All it does is make progress bars turn red for survivors.

  • Splitting the community won't help the game. Queue times are already bad enough for survivor, we don't need them to get any worse.

  • Macros are definitely fine. I've been using one for struggling on hook and haven't been banned so...unless this comment gets me banned it's fine lmao

  • @venom12784 said:

Couldn't you use a controller or would carpal tunnel still be an issue?

You're still mashing the same button over and over, it wouldn't make a difference. Honestly it's worse in a way, as someone who's heavily into DMC, rhythm and FPS games, my hands have taken more of a toll playing DMC on a controller than they have playing games on a keyboard.

  • Well you literally answered your own question. You have to work for devour hope and there's a risk to it but you don't have to do anything skillful to activate NOED.

  • A "weird" build? That's the most used build in the game right now if you replace lithe with dead hard.

On to solidarity though, it's a trash perk. If it healed both you and the survivor at the same time? Sure it might be pretty good. But it only heals like 50% at most, and that's only if you heal them to full, by yourself, without a medkit. Way too situational. You're better off bringing something like empathy if you want to find people to heal.

  • Well as survivor you're not expected to win against a killer with a Mori. Playing against a killer who's that insecure about their game that they have to bring the strongest item in the game and abuse it as soon as they can isn't gonna be a fun match. It's best to simply move on and pretend the match never happened.

  • Well that was the pettiest thing I've seen in DbD so far. You have to ask yourself, was it really worth it? Some people go to such dumb lengths to win one over on people in this game I swear.

  • @Shocktober said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1276652#Comment_1276652

I don't really see the point of kindred or open handed. I've seen tons of people combo OoO with spine chill since the undetectable buff. I think 2 more perks for looping would be way better, since you are pretty likely to get tunneled or chased right at the start of the game.

Spine chill could honestly be considered a looping perk, since it increases the speed of fast vaults, and when used with resilience and how funky window hitboxes are right now it can be pretty brutal for the killer.

  • She's without a doubt the killer with the highest skill ceiling so it takes a long while before you start to "git gud" with her. I gave up playing Huntress a while ago, her playstyle never clicked with me. But she's definitely not overrated. She's definitely in a good spot, I would put her in a pile of killers near the top with Freddy, Hag, Oni and Deathslinger (all these killers I would say are the 4th best I just couldn't pick one over the other if that makes sense).

  • You're essentially talking to a brick wall when you say stuff like that on here, but I do respect your optimism. I'd love for more people to be more chill in this community and not take this game so seriously but that's likely not going to happen. People are too set in their ways to change.

  • @dastru said:

"Mathematically significant" Whats mathematically signifant is that Freddy needed to wait to smack survivors, and also he had literally nothing that would help him in a chase. Every other killer had something, he didnt.

Legion, GhostFace and Myers don't have powers to help them in a chase?

  • @Crazewtboy said:

I was playing ghostface the other day and I was able to completely stalk people through corn with no problems whatsoever but the survivors were literally 2 feet from me and still couldn't reveal me. I know I shouldn't be complaining because it helped me, but for the sake of balance, why is this in the game?

GhostFace is definitely a functioning killer with a working power. Yes sir, definitely not broken in any way.

I'd replace Kindred but yea you definitely want Off The Record with OOO.

PS. Monto didn't invent that! My friend was using this combo day 1 of chapter 15 release.

People were thinking about this perk combo on release, it's just a lot of people watch DbD content creators and believe those are the people that come up with these builds.

Just an opinion: there isn’t ANY killer build that guarantees 3-4 kills. Perks and add ons are just tools that offer varying amounts of strategy or surprise.

Its how effectively the killer uses these tools (and the skill/coordination of the survivors) that determine kill ratio.

Honestly you shouldn't ever be losing with iri head Huntress, or a gen build on Billy and Nurse etc...

If we're going with that logic, Freddy, Michael and Jason are not iconic since they had tons of terrible sequels.

You literally just said they had tons of sequels. Candyman had 2.

  • With the speed games go by the time you get all the stacks it's pointless. I love trying to make it work but it just doesn't.

  • You sure showed those pesky survivors who's boss. Your gold star is being delivered to you as I'm writing this.

  • BT is an obvious one, and the next one would probably be to let survivors wake up at any clock. People might feel more inclined to actually go wake up more because it's not literally and intentionally on the other side of the map for some ungodly reason.

  • You can thank the Devs for overtuning the hell out of his lullaby for this.

  • On Deathslinger monitor is pretty dumb but everything about that killer is so honestly I don't care about it at this point. His TR music definitely needs to be changed if anything. I never thought I'd see someone complain about monitor on Myers... why would a stealth killer have a high terror radius?? He has nothing that helps him in a chase in tier 2 he's essentially a man with a knife. And so many people are running spine chill and object right now that monitor's TR reduction is almost pointless.
