While I love playing him, and consider him to be either the 3rd or 4th best killer in the game (imo it's a 3-way tie between him, Blight and Oni) he absolutely needs changes. The thing is, nobody on this forum will agree with anyone and BHVR don't see a problem with their all-knowing stats so he will probably remain as is for a very long time.

Because knowing what Deathslinger can shoot over/through, knowing where to hide on which map and use the killer's blind spots etc doesn't take skill and experience at all.
If he can see you he can shoot you. That's literally all you need to know, the hitbox of his spear can literally go in-between the planks of wood on the pier on the swamp maps.
-
Deathslinger, Hag, Spirit and Nurse all fall into the "do gens and don't give chases because they're bs in one" category. It's not skillful or interactive or fun in the slightest but it's how you win against them. There is counterplay but the counterplay isn't skillful or meaningful in any way, you're essentially trying to play a single player game against them, but hey they're in the game and you're gonna have to deal with them sooner or later.

He effects to many aspects of gameplay.... ive never liked his balancing or “re-work”.
- Insane locating abilities (he can see hallucinations some how, screams at t3 which is not hard to get too, red stain makes it impossible to hide and his power)
- stopping vaults/drops
- Effects skill checks
Like why does any one killer need that much? Lol
He's had that for years and now that his add-ons are good and he's super easy to understand and play it's suddenly a problem lmao. I do think the range and new "shock delay" add-ons are pretty dumb though and should be changed back to the way they were before. Or slightly nerf the range of the yellow and green add-ons
-
Have you ever thought that maybe the reason why he's so decisive is because you and a select few other people have spammed the forums with Springtrap posts for the last year as well as insulting anyone who doesn't agree with you?
-
Imagine having animations for a character that were fine and then making them all literally objectively worse for no reason whatsoever an entire 4 years later. I'll never be able to comprehend how incompetent a decision that was. Anyway, about the topic, there wasn't anything particularly interesting about this game though, the killer and survivor were both "decent". I guess... Survivor and killer gameplay has drastically improved since 2018
-
Meh he's a joke. Reveal mechanic barely works, he has no chase power or anything fun. He's just so dull and boring, but also fun to laugh at because he's so busted.
-
First killer game I ever played was a 4k. Wraith on Yamaoka's. The match ended in 3 minutes. Was very interesting

Yeah, I DCd as killer tonight after trying to do the stupid blight challenge for the 5376th time. I can't even hit ONE person with the stupid lethal rush, let alone six in one match. The devs are seriously smoking something with that challenge. I kept getting SWF after SWF and since I was trying to do that challenge I was mostly just running around crashing into things and it just got too discouraging. The game is quickly getting to a point where it just isn't fun on either side. Love the concept but the execution leaves sooooo much to be desired. 🤷
Blight isn't a killer you pick up and learn everything there is to know about him in 3 matches like everyone else. He requires a lot of map knowledge and survivor knowledge. If you don't know how a survivor can move to dodge you you're not gonna hit anyone. It's like Nurse in that sense, but a lot harder and with a much higher skill ceiling because you don't ignore every mechanic in the game, you have to play around them all.
-
If only you could quickly exit the match via the escape menu...but wait that would make you the bad guy because DC bad!!!111 it's not the killer who wanted to make 4 survivors sit there for 4 minutes literally unable to play the game. And if they want to leave early? Nah, get punished for something out of your control, you entitled survivor main don't you know it's part of the game and a legitimate strategy? Plus you'd be ruining the game for everyone in that match!

I quite like him actually. He looks good, his perks are good and his power is fun and useful. I don't understand why anybody would hate him? I get it if you don't like him but he's not that bad that anybody should despise him with a passion.
Uninteractive to the extreme to the point where survivor skill doesn't matter in the slightest if the killer knows how to aim a gun in an FPS. Instantaneous abilities that have no clue of any kind to help you as survivor to react or make any kind of counterplay opportunity. Why wouldn't survivors hate a killer that does this?
I love playing him too, I think he's the 4th/5th best killer in the game but oh do I despise playing against him. Nothing you learn while playing him can translate to learning to play against him either. Knowing you can shoot people with no time for them to react and get free downs doesn't exactly help you when you're playing survivor.

@dugman said:
A lot of the complaints boil down to “I want to be able to see him about to shoot and dodge it”. They’ll dress up this complaint by saying it’s “boring” or “random guesses” or “not interactive” or “he has no counterplay” because they can’t literally see him about to shoot like they can Huntress but that’s really all it is.
The funny thing is Huntress is actually a bit better than Deathslinger in a chase. Her built in one-two combo on healthy survivors is something Deathslinger has trouble with without something like Save the Best for Last built up, and she’s significantly better at getting downs from across dropped pallets and other obstacles that Deathslinger can be blocked from reeling in the injured player. Plus even when he does hit or does get a down it takes him about five extra seconds to get the payoff every time versus Huntress doing her damage instantly. His only real advantage over Huntress is that he can quick shoot and it’s still not enough on its own to make him quite as good as her overall. That’s why a lot of people complaining that they want to be able to dodge his shots also qualify it by saying “they don’t think he’s that good overall though”.
I do think Deathslinger is a little more fun to play than Huntress, even though I think Huntress is ultimately more effective, because the gameplay feels more fluid being able to do quick shots and not having to go to lockers to reload. And I certainly don’t think Deathslinger needs an overall nerf. Honestly though my favorite killers are the 115% movement basic attack ones (Freddy, Doctor, Clown), I’m not really into the ranged attack thing in this game, so I don’t have a big dog on this fight, other than taking these complaints about “lack of interactivity” with a grain of salt (no pun intended).
And there it is, the killer main with 0 empathy or understanding of the other side coming in to save the day.
-
If the only thing that's keeping you playing is this dumb blood rush event...stop playing. You're clearly not enjoying it, this is how DbD becomes an addiction. Games should be played for fun and as entertainment. When a game stops being that, it's time to stop playing. I'm not talking about simply "taking a break" either like everyone else has suggested because the cycle would just repeat over and over. Unless you can find a way to enjoy the game again, quitting it for good and finding something else will feel soooo much better.

Did this make it any better?
All that does is give me a ton of nostalgia. Seeing old lery's reminds me of the times where this game was better and was when everything I liked was still fun and enjoyable. Like old Billy and non-dedicated servers :(
-
Legion is just pathetic and horrendously dull to play as and against all at the same time. I really don't know how they're still the way that they are. I also don't know how people like them. What part of legion is fun? Turning your brain off and stabbing people, and then chasing them with no chase power whatsoever? "but they have so much build variety" well, yeah because they literally don't have a power and are good at nothing. BHVR really need to completely overhaul this sorry excuse for a killer, make them actually sort of interesting.
-
Why would that be holding the game hostage everyone completed the match lol. And it's also probably one of the only decent ways of countering tampered timer. I usually try to 99 gens against pig now because that add-on is so disgusting.
-
Fight BS with BS. It's really that simple.
-
While this game is very simple and casual it's not fun at all starting out if you have no idea what you're doing. Not only that, you need to shell out real money if you want some perks like BBQ and DS because P2W features are a good idea in a game that you've already paid for. The grind to get good perks when you're just starting out (you've only played a few months so you're still new) is absolutely ######### ludicrous and I do empathise with you and other people. I currently have about 500 hours in the game after playing for a year and a half or so, and I'm not even close to getting all the perks I want on killers and survivors. Hell only one of them is P3, and nearly half the characters I don't even have the teachables unlocked for. This bullshit grind that BHVR are refusing to improve is scaring away players, and the grind is only getting worse with each new content patch. Because imagine wanting to actually play with the content you paid for with real money the day you purchased them? Nope, ######### you, spend literally 10s of hours grinding out perks on the new killers and survivors to actually play them properly. Oh and did we mention that the perks you get in the bloodweb are entirely random?
Premium currency, horrendous grind, paid DLC, overpriced cosmetics, battle passes...DbD is a free-to-play game that you have to pay for, I've never seen a grind more atrocious in a paid game than this one (that isn't an MMO, and hell even then I've spent less time in those and gotten to the endgame faster than I have gotten all characters to level 50 in this game)
-
I think the camera turning a random direction in 1 frame after getting a slam is also still a bug. There have also been multiple time where an Oni has literally done a demon slam through a rock and hit me so that's fun. I'm really glad killers continue to get more and more broken and buggy with each patch, it really changes up the gameplay in fun and exciting ways :)
-
Huntress, Demo, Blight, new PH, and I like Oni quite a lot now.
Absolutely hate Hag, Freddy, Deathslinger and Spirit.
The rest are in the middle I guess. Billy was super fun for me before but now his animations and roar make him look like a complete joke, and almost all the Billy players I've seen are now too scares to go for cool things. The overheat punishes you too much if you miss so it's backrev simulator when playing against him.

-
You cannot be ######### serious...I know on a lot of hills you can no longer run along all of it and can get hitched on a rock now which is really fun when I'm running balanced landing. Love that change. I haven't gotten stuck yet but if this really is back I guess I'm no longer running balanced landing.
-
Idk what you're smoking but every killer is very useable at red ranks. I've gotten 4K's as perk-less clown and bubba at purple and red ranks many times. Scott has won 32 times in a row as old Bubba with speed limiter. I really don't know where people are coming from with this whole "some killers aren't viable at red ranks" thing. You don't need an amazing chase power against most survivor teams (which is the one reason why Legion is considered underrated by some people.)

my main flashlight beef is blinding me when I'm trying to pick a survivor up, so I immediately drop him without a chance to fight back.
...look at a wall, or bait the flashlight by pretending to pick up the survivor. Run infectious. Slug. immediately flick your camera 180 degrees when picking up a survivor if you're on PC. You can bait survivors even better if you're playing Trapper, Hag, or Demo because you can make it look like the killer's bending down to pick up the survivor. There are so many things you can do to "fight back", flashlights are by far the worst item a survivor can bring and if you see a survivor bring a flashlight in the lobby you shouldn't ever get flashlight saved unless you're simply not paying attention to your surroundings.

Well I have to push back on this because all the styles listed are still very much available.
Except instasaw.
If you want to see double engravings Hillbillies go check out the Syndicate.
They are but is it still fun for the people who played Billy a lot before now having to babysit dumb mechanics? Not really
And I haven't seen a single person from that team in any of my games or on Twitch since the Billy rework. If you have any videos of them playing double engravings post-rework then I guess I'll eat my words.
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
If they buffed his two charge time addons to just give him charge time without involving pallets or 4.4 m/s, he’d blow up in usage. People only played him for instasaw.
They nerfed a couple of other addons like bumper Billy that noone really noticed. Pretty much only undone engravings but the charge time penalty on that appears to be a bit worse than it was too according to Otz’s two addon videos.
"people only played him for instasaw" I don't agree with that. There were a lot of Billy players who were always running addonless or maybe only using turning add-ons. There were very few double engravings players and that playstyle is effectively dead now with his new changes. Haven't seen a single double engravings Billy in a LONG time, not even anyone on Twitch has done it in forever. Insta and crack were definitely popular but not THAT popular. You'd still see a lot of Billy players who would just run something different if all they did was change the charge time and cooldown add-ons. And they would also be the good Billies too so you'd know it'd be a fun match if you ever saw a Billy.

Gen rush does not exist. Killers just get used to bad survivors who don't do gens. Most killers on the roster aren't viable against good players. 2 or 3 gens should pop in the first few minutes. The survivors aren't doing their job if that isn't happening. A lot of players complain about a supposed gen rush, but I wonder why it isn't happening every game if I'm playing Clown/Myers/Pig/etc., and I get annoyed when I 4k at 4 gens as Trapper with Corrupt as my only slowdown at rank 1.
You pretty much nailed it. Unless you're in a tournament, or you're facing a sweat squad gen rushing doesn't exist. Actual gen-rushing is leaving survivors to die while you hammer out the objective, and you just want to get out of the game as fast as possible. And you almost never run into teams like this. I also find it a lot more fun and exciting when gens are going by at a slightly faster rate than I'm winning chases. It means I have to actually rethink my strategy and I'm playing against people who might actually be good. Close matches are always so much more fun than ones where you just stomp everyone in 60 seconds.

Popping nearly two gens in the first couple minutes. What I get from that is "We wAnT oUt Of dA MaTcH NoW" Like seriously how is it any fun. I can handle rushers relatively well but it's the most boring brain dead game I could imagine. Chase this person, down them, gen pops. Chase next person, down them just as quickly as the first, 2 gens pop. Rinse and repeat. I don't see how it is fun having little to no interaction aside from sticking to gens like a fly on a cow pie. It isn't a tournament.
"How is it any fun"? It isn't. But if you're not getting people off gens and are committing to chases you shouldn't be what the hell do you want survivors to do in the meantime? Sit around and watch you chase someone and do nothing? If they're not being chased they're gonna be working on a gen, it's up to you to stop that, or to make them work on gens that are less important to you i.e on the outskirts of the map. Also 2 gens popping at the start of the match is normal.

Does oni even has a good perk?
Nemesis is ok on Pyramid Head paired with Enduring. It used to be good on Bubba with PWYF but that playstyle doesn't really work anymore.
-
Alright let's go through the ######### bhvr pulled with this killer recently....
- Horrendous animations and camera bugs
- Stupid roar that has already made me hate playing him
- PTB Billy was atrocious and killed everyone's hopes of Billy being playable
- Billy came out on live, and was actually not bad at all. I could've maybe lived with it because the overheat felt fine and didn't need any further changes. It stopped facecamping with the chainsaw and people spamming it.
- Then what did they do a week later? ######### nerfed it yet again to the default cooldown rate, from 5 to 3.8. ######### WHY?! People were happy with it before! But apparently people weren't overheating as much as they should be (This roughly translates to "you're having too much fun playing Billy and you need to notice how cool our new overheat mechanic is that we spent so much time and money working on") Now if you're running addonless you absolutely have to wait and babysit the stupid ######### overheat. You might say you aren't affected by it but you are, you're definitely not playing the same way you played Billy before if you played him a lot pre-nerf.
So yeah, that's why nobody likes Billy anymore. He was completely fine without the overheat, all he needed was an add-on rework. Hell, he didn't even need all of them reworked, all that was needed was to change the cooldown and charge time add-ons into something else. So Thompson's mix, carburettor, vegetable oil, (shop lubricant? Don't quite remember the name), spark plug and primer bulb.
-
Been around for a while. I saw a few people do this bug to get the "get 25 hits as killer" challenge ages ago. Suppose that is one way of doing it in one match to get the grind out of the way
-
Me and my friends have played almost every day for a week now. I can safely say that tunnelling happens in at least 1 in 3 games. Camping has happened almost every match. The higher ranked the killer, the more they camped. Not bashing it or anything, it's clearly a legitimate tactic that works because they're still ranking up and winning because of it so why bother changing the playstyle if it's mostly working? We've taken to rushing out gens when this happens. The closer the gen we're rushing is to the hook the better. Most of us couldn't give less of a ######### when either of these things happen, I certainly don't I think it's kinda funny. But it does kinda deflate the match when you're not the one getting tunnelled or camped, because that means your task is running around and holding M1 on a gen and that's even more boring lmao.

They haven't announced anything for Demo yet. I suppose you could say I'd be technically disappointed, but I'm really not because I wasn't planning on buying their overpriced cosmetics to begin with.
-
At first I had high expectations, then I instantly deleted those expectations because I realised what game this is, and only expected a skin at most that I wasn't even gonna pay for anyway. So I'm not disappointed in the slightest.

I agree. Survivors constantly getting their hats off on the first box? A chase power than only works if the survivors let it? A stealth power that hurts more than it helps thanks to it's insanely low speed? So unfair for the killer.
I think survivors should also get 3 health states against pig. The traps should give you endurance to make it fair. No counterplay to a pig who chases you and hits you with her M1. It's ridiculous.

Can’t tell from SS only, but those bushes shouldn’t have collission more than likely, making it NOT part of the loop but just map decoration.
The double window is ok there, the house has a door way right next to the window if you’re moving towards house. If you’re coming from house and don’t get a hit before 2nd window vault, might have to let them go...can’t tell from SS how far the opening is in the fence to get around it.
Those bushes definitely do have collision. Watched Scott last night, he got Haddonfield and one of the fences literally went around almost the entire back and sides of the house and there was one whole window. And also a lot of the textures on this map have seemingly lost their shadows, or it's like they're being lit up by some artificial light and the light they used on them before broke or something. So yeah trust BHVR to completely break Haddonfield when they set out to fix bugs literally everywhere else but Haddonfield.
-
Combining a really fast uncloak with his windstorm lunge is not a good idea. I main the guy and would absolutely not want to get free hits 24/7 like this, he can usually guarantee a free hit anyway on most maps with decent body blocking. This would make him such a brain-dead easy killer to play, easier than he already is. He doesn't need this on top of a movement speed buff. The movement speed increase is all he needs, because he's terrible without windstorm, but with windstorm he's good.
-
Farmhouse sucks against most ghosts. If you're in the main entrance area and it goes into hunting it takes forever to actually get into a room and hide. And against an Oni there's no way you're outrunning it. I just wanted to call the ghost a poopy head on the spirit box why do they always come and kill me :(

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/N82EAIMTUOCU/screen-shot-2020-09-20-at-1-13-36-pm.png
There's such an easy fix for moris too.
Ivory: lets you kill one person after hooking all survivors at least once
Ebony: lets you kill two survivors after hooking all survivors at least once.
That's all they have to do. Still a strong effect but the killer has to actually play the game properly for it to take effect.
-
Um yeah I got a little excited about the Demo tweet they made and was hoping they were making surprise gameplay changes to him. I've now realised that this is BHVR and an add-on pass would be call for an entire mid-chapter update's worth of work for them so...probably blighted skins, or another legendary skin. And no way in hell am I giving them 10 or 15 ######### dollars for it.

The one time I remember both sides agreeing to something was that nurse needed an add on rework. 5X blinks was broken. Yet the devs had to take it a step further. BHVR, great job at keeping two sides at each others throats.
I don't think they took the Nurse nerf a step too far. She definitely needed at least a tiny limitation on her actual power. I do think they could've done it better though, they've just started to find out ways of making good cooldown bars. Pyramid Head/Billy and Blight for example. Why not mash the two together in a way? So it's still a "token" system for her blinks, but it's like pyramid head's or Billy's power where you don't need to use up the entire bar and suffer the full cooldown. So here's my idea:
Cooldown rate is the same, each blink is max 50% of the full cooldown bar. If you don't use the entire bar, it starts recharging from that point. If it's past 50%, you can use 1 blink. If you let it go to 100%, you can use 2 blinks again. If this makes sense
Might make people less frustrated with the current token system.
-
Perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover". Glad you've been converted to the ways of the cane-wielding drug addict though.
-
Most people aren't saying there's not a lot of counters to Undying and stuff, people are saying they want a literal counter that goes from 5 to 0 to show how many totems are still in the match. Survivors and killers who run a hex perk should get a totem counter. You wanna say that totems are a secondary objective? Fine, but it's a secondary objective that solo survivors literally can't even keep track of, which is stupid.
We need a totem counter.
