It's extremely normal, so normal they've made perks and killers around the notion of doing it.
Yeah because they're dumb, that doesn't mean it's normal. They made bubba, a killer that can facecamp super well, that doesn't mean facecamping is a normal or healthy or good way to play that should be encouraged

Hit and run is playing normally especially when the killer is designed to thrive by doing it.
No it's not lmao, actually comitting to chases is playing normally, dropping chase the moment u injure someone is definitely not playing normally

A playstyle that shouldn't be encouraged?
Then what exactly do you think should be encouraged cause I doubt you like killers who do zoning, defensive, slug or tunnel playstyle either? Should they just unilaterally encourage running around terrain pieces endlessly and boringly? What playstyle do you see as objectively fun for everyone on both sides?
Literally just playing normally and chasing like wow so out there

This woud be nice, but priority should be sharing perk info like Kinship, Power Struggle, and Resilience. These perks don't perform well in solo q when your teammates don't know you have them.
Yes please show teammates builds goodness

Certain killers are literally designed around hit and run and don't function properly when they can't do it. Wraith was always meant to be a speedy stealth based hit and run killer. It is how he generates map pressure and when he can't do that he is pretty limited. Samething with Legion whose power is literally built around the concept of hit and run. When they can't do it, they just sort of fall apart. You may not enjoy it, but there has to be limits to the amount you can dictate the way someone plays the game on their end. If a player or killer works better with hit and run gameplay they should have the space to do that. It isn't even like that in terms of kill rates, nebulous as that stat is, that it outperforms.
The intentions w those killers' designs is dumb imo. Idc how the player themselves plays but hnr is not a strategy that should be encouraged

If you don't know when to drop a chase your only real options left are tunneling and/or camping. Otherwise, there's no gen pressure and you're looking at a 4E. Learning when to drop a chase and when to commit is one of the most important meta Killer skills. If newer players don't practice dropping they won't learn that skill.
Dropping chase every time you get an injure is not good practice lol

@clowninabout said:
Since when is hit and run a sign of a low skilled killer? It's just another valid strategy, COH basically killed it but now it's doable again. It was my usual way to play hag for example, before hour of the witch. Knowing which chases to take and those to drop takes experience and a bit of knowledge, rather than mindlessly running after the clicky clicky nea or 99'd sb feng for example.
Bc many killers will just brainlessly drop chase the moment they get an injure

Tragically you don't really have a decision on what playstyle your opponent goes for, and playing for fun instead of sweating to win is unheard of apparently, so out of all of the options hit n run is the most preferable by a landslide
Quite tragic indeed also damn bro 21k posts that's crazy

Tell that to *grabs list* Clown, Spirit, Nurse, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Doctor (unless he causes you physical discomfort; can't fault you there), Slinger, Blight, Artist, Twins, and Trickster.
I'd much rather go against a chasing CSNPHNDSBATT than a tunneling or hnr one

It's better than getting tunneled at 5 gens, isn't it? Also isn't it more a surv skill issue if you allow to get hit so many times like, for free? Use the reassurces, most maps are full of pallets. And maybe don't bodyblock that hook for no reason when it's just 5m away. And even than, it's your decision if you keep beeing injured rushing gens or get healed. There're still strong medkits builds available or team aura perks like Bond and Kindred.
Consider stealth killers? Not to mention, if you crutch on hit and run that's infinitely more of a killer skill issue than losing to hit and run bc of the lack of communication is

If you start clearing a portal right after he's used his teleport, it's impossible for him to get back through it before you've destroyed it unless using certain add ons. Two survivors working on it makes it impossible flat out.
Shred works in a straight line, you can bait it out and Demo will fly right past you, leaving you unharmed.
This is like complaining about Trapper being too OP.
My entire argument when someone says "this is like lying"

If you are able to 100% get an uptime on a perk every single time without the need to go out of your way to activate it, it makes it too strong. That's why you have to go to the preplaced X hook first.
With my suggestion you would quite literally need to spread hooks on survivors to get scourge hooks up...and the current is what spawns them without needing to be activated first

I don't like facing the zoning Demogorgons. The ones that use STBFL and fake using the shred to zone you from a loop and m1 you. That is boring to face against, especially since holding the shred doesn't immediately slow them down so it makes the zoning easier. However, the Demogorgons that use their shred proficiently are very fun to go against in chase.
Stbfl bots boring as hell ong

Imo they should be created the first time you hook each survivor, would be better than the complete randomness they are rn

What's with the obsession that ever perk had to "have skill" to use.
If it wasn't such a huge effect it wouldn't matter but it is. Either make the perks take more skill or nerf their effect

I don’t mind it. Better than the Eruption meta.
I do have to ask though, what play style do people want to play against? I can’t think of a single play style that wouldn’t get complaints, from both sides, so… what do people actually want to play against?
Chase.

@Sharby said:
I personally find it to be extremely unfun to play vs, especially in an uncoordinated team. And I've hated it even during the gen-kick meta. But I've seen several praises for it so I thought I'd have a directed conversation about it.
Before the dead-hard nerf, anti-healing builds centered around this playstyle were tolerable because if I had good timing I could force a 2-healthstate chase anyways. I know how to play injured and can usually hold my own even without DH.
After the nerf though, on certain maps, it feels so tiresome having a 0.1s window to react to a silent bell wraith 1-tapping you from around the corner. And its gotten to the point where I usually just go next after they hook me.
The only counter and probably the reason why the strat isn't viable in a competitive setting is just to have all 4 survivors spread out and communicate when they see the killer. This obviously rarely ever happens in solo-queue. And its super frustrating to just watch a team bleed-out from everyone being too scared to touch gens.
I do think the strategy should be nerfed, but only after killers are given an alternative meta. Which at present there isn't one, so I'm very understanding.
Thoughts?
No I don't, it's incredibly lazy and involves barely any chasing. The only reason it even exists or gets any praise at all is because many tiles are way too strong, so you often just can't commit to chases. I wish the community would advocate for maps to be made less strong/safe as opposed to encouraging the lazy playstyle that is hit and run

@egg_ said:
Knight's most efficient gameplay style while chasing a survivor is to drop a guard at a loop to shut it down, letting all the work be done by the AI with minimal brain input from the player itself. The fact that this gameplay encourages W gaming and, if not in close range to another loop, a free hit/down, is simply bad design. In fact, the majority of the playerbase isn't happy with that killer at all, as proved by the huge amount of negative feedback received.
Anywae, what it should be like is that guards shouldn't be able to down survivors. Buff their utility if you want, buff their movement speed. Let that bot (who am I refering to with this, the AI or the Knight player?) get the the free injury, but why should they get also a free down?
Knight's guards shouldn't be any different than Legion's frenzy tbh
Then they would be basically useless tbh. He just needs a minimum path length, making them completely unable to down would make them hardly a threat

Healthy
Endurance
Dying
These are the three health states of the game. If a perk grants you endurance when it's used, that's a free hit
How is that a free hit if the killer can just wait it out? Do you also consider MoM a free hit since it grants something similar to endurance when it's used?
-
How is it free if you have to time it correctly

Wasn't Mettle of man broken and then updated to something sensible similar to DH?
I'm not joking but why are survivors able to do generators as fast or even faster when they are injuried... I'd have trouble running or doing anything after being injuried?
Yes it was changed but it still kept the 3rd health state aspect of it and yet it's not a broken perk. I think it's pretty clear that the 3rd health state aspect of dh itself isn't really a problem

Exhaustion perks are pitiful. Bait it out, leave, come back, down. Simple.
And what if the survivor maybe, has a brain? And doesn't just come back immediately? Then you've already lost the match with how much time you've wasted and you probably look very silly
-
@daffyd said:
DH was broken, 3 health states!
What is shocking is that it lasted so long and was hardly nerfed previously
Mettle of man is broken, 3 health states!
Current dh is broken, 3 health states?
Dh had to be timed right or else the 3rd health state that lasted for 0.5s meant nothing

Again, it's simply not free

@Heytherebigguy said:
No they're not, sorry. DH was a stupid annoying perk and even as a killer who baited it out most of the time, the times I didn't were enough to make me pissed, at least now you can make a survivor waste it and move to another one instead of commiting into a chase and then getting dead harded.
It's just my opinion. IMO sb and lithe are more stupid and annoying by far and are hadly realistic to counter
-
@MrMori said:

My thought was that instead of buffing it to 3 seconds or something boring like that, it would gain a bonus if you performed protection hits.
So if you perform a protection hit, the protected survivor now also gains a 1 second speed boost. It would be a cool support-type Exhaustion perk and would fill a niche that no other perk does. Also 1 second sounds a lot more fair than like 2 seconds, that would be too easy to abuse in SWF.
Bueno 👍️ I had thought it'd be cool if it gave u a speed boost when the killer missed an attack on u (would be a nightmare to program tho) anything that isn't basically 0 prerequisit is cool w me
-
@MrMori said:
Disagree, the best thing about the current meta is the variety. Now I see both Lithe, Sprint Burst, and a couple Balanced here and there. And some cheeky Dead Hards too, can't even be mad. Feels fine to me. I like that there's so much variety, and I have a feeling it will stay this way.
Now we just need to buff Smash Hit and Overcome to be more interesting in some way, so people use those too.
The day overcome gets buffed just might be the day I stop playing killer, hold W encouragement simply shouldn't happen like ever
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
Nope, it's 200% much better than with DH meta. I hate that extra health state meta where you have to wait-out check every Survivor or see lucky DH because you waited 4 seconds, instead of 4.5 seconds. I don't mind Survivors having extra speed boost from their perks, just not extra health states. We allready have it in the game in many forms (perks, base mechanic, etc.).
They are the same thing my guy. Not like the health state you get from adrenaline is the same as a speed boost, but the extra health state is absolutely the same as a speed boost bc its not permenant. Also at least dh generally had the luxury of counterplay (which wasn't hard), this sb lithe counterplay is just catch up (much much later), drop chase (terrible decision if you don't know where anyone else is), and baiting it out (can EASILY backfire if the survivor has a brain). But again, this is my opinion, and that's your opinion. Finding something annoying is simply subjective

Nope therre's actually a lot wrong with having an opinion because according to the subreddit I'm just a dh d rider on copium and yeah yep very true things totally
-
@Pillarman said:
I haven't actually seen any complaining about SB and lithe from killers, even on Reddit. Only copium from DH users insisting that people who disliked DH just got some kind of self own.
SB is strong, but it takes a lot of micromanagement to have it when you need it. Either you're constantly running to keep it 99'd, in which case you aren't doing anything useful. Or you're walking from gen to gen, which is slowing overall game progress down. Of course you might get lucky and have it ready when you need it without without any conscious effort. But it's not consistent.
Same with lithe, if you're not near a vaulting location you're SOL, and even if you do come across one, the killer can zone you so you're running straight into a dead zone or corner, forcing you to use half of your speed boost just getting around them.
Dead hard the only requirements was to be injured and in downing distance, which is incidentally always the best time to have a speed boost available. It was far less situational that literally every other exhaustion perk.
Lol, another person calling my opinion copium. I find sb/lithe more annoying to go against than dh was, it's not copium it's just my opinion, figure it out dude
-
@NotAnotherDoctor said:
People will complain at anything.
I play both sides equally and dead hard was a massive problem with its free hit mechanic. Sprint burst and lithe are fine perks and shouldn't be touched in the slightest.
As killers, we can't complain at every single perk, that's unreasonable
When will ppl stop calling dh free PLS
