DH negates the going down part longer and like I said requires you to lose chase twice. The other exhaust perks don't stop the inevitable of going down.
Exactly, going down is an inevitability so dh preventing that from happening right as it otherwise would doesn't mean much. What you're telling me here is that a successful dh is stronger than sb/lithe, which I of course agree with

SB and Lithe doesn't require you to lose a chase to get value. That makes DH even more crutchier simply because of how to activate it
That's just irrelevant, going down *ever* is a natural part of the game and dh still has to be timed correctly to get value, while sb and lithe don't
-
None of these, I would've preferred a different change to it

What about killer kits not designed for chase?
Crazily enough I still enjoy chase since the question was about enjoyment lol

I’ll admit that Alchemist Ring needs to be ejected into the sun, but the rest of his add ons are fine. I’m of the belief that there absolutely should be some really strong killers with high skill ceilings in this game
C33 and adrenaline vial are definitely not fine, arguably same w speed but that idk they are kinda on par w his other addons and should at the very least be higher rarity

If it's not a big deal, then why bother? It's good the way it is. Also this would be just too convenient specifically for pain res
What's the correlation between it not being a big deal and caring? I care bc current scourge hooks are purely based on rng which is just dumb
-
@Gandor said:
I don't like the idea. 1st hook would always just be scourge hook or not (basically guaranteed for killer). Sounds bad
Getting a scourge hook is already pretty likely as it is, the first one being guaranteed to have the effect isn't a big deal imo. That parts significance is in the early game anyways where killer could use the help
-
@OrangeBear said:
Yeah dead hard really needs a nerf doesnt it?
? What are you talking about

@Aven_Fallen said:
"Also let me be clear that this isn't meant to flat out nerf or buff scourge hooks, just to make them more interesting and consistent is all."
It would be just a buff for scourge Hooks and would not make them more interesting at all. Just removing the RNG entirely, which would make them more consistent, but not more interesting.
IMO Scourge Hooks are fine currently. Even when 4 are random, it get value out of them most of the time. Yes, it can happen that you cannot find a scourge hook, this is bad luck but more of an outlier.
And well, your idea would not fix anything for scourge Hooks (aside from making them guaranteed). A Killer would still probably just camp that hook because it is a Scourge Hook and they will get value out of their Perks with it.
Just removing the rng is not all that is suggested. You are able to choose where you get scourge hooks but not limitlessly and only when hooking a unique survivor, pretty interesting in my opinion. Removing the rng is a big part of this suggestion tho bc rng is not interesting. Not reaching a scourge hook just because of bad luck is really silly.

You know something is busted when the only supposed counter to it is “just hang on the hook for 2 minutes to waste his time and hope your teammates do gens and escape”
Even perks like Reassurance and Kinship are only delaying the inevitable, Bubba isn’t an OP killer in most cases but in terms of camping potential he’s just plain unfair
how has it still not been addressed? Surely the devs don’t think being face camped for 2 minutes without any hope of rescue is balanced and fun?
Who even knows man, it sure doesn't help that a lot of ppl are ok with it. Pinheads chains were fr changed to prevent camping w them as if it matters in the slightest but apparently bubbas situation is fine

really its just alch ring that needs changing, maybe c33 as well?
personally id buff all the other killers addons to be strong like blights are since the devs dont know how to nerf addons without making them completely useless (poor billy)
Imo alch ring, vial, c33, c21 should be purple, and idk about speed. Speed is def too good for its rarity tho and being able to stack it is nasty

Killers who can get reliable hits with their power, don't need STBFL. It's hardly an actual problem.
So stbfl isn't a problem if killers need it but also isn't a problem if killers don't need it?

I do think those things could certainly happen but then there would have to be something to balance out killers needing to spread hooks more, which would likely include buffing gen regression and/or increasing gen times significantly but I don't think the latter will happen. Unfortunately if you spread hooks and try to shoot for 12 hooks 9/10 you'll lose pretty hard so you have to settle for something like 8 or 9 hooks total instead. I'd love to be able to play where I can pick and choose who to target more but right now killers don't have the ability to do that much.
Just about fully agree

Fr it'd be so nice to get some transparency on this, even if that transparency is that the addons are being looked at and will be changed.. at some point. tho if the truth is that the addons arent being looked at maybe its best we didnt know tbh

Personally I like thrilling more bc it's very common that surv auras are hidden behind gens, and imo if I get more than 1 down within 60s I'm doing good enough and don't really need it to activate again. Still agree it shouldn't have a cooldown tho

The last time I saw this type of response on the forum we ended with basekit BT and several months of killers just having to take a substantial L in maintaining general pressure strats because turns out people with BT don't care about escaping a potential tunnel situation they care about actively drawing fire only to complain about how much they have to mend after being hit.
Like you've got all the tools necessary to flourish in soloq aside from voice comms at this point. It's not hard to slap on a single perk like Bond or CoH which would provide the info you need to coordinate heals. Getting some kind of basekit "I need healing" ping ain't gonna help you if the tools you already have access to ain't helping. You want things to help soloq, but there ain't much to be done for soloq at this point. Soloq has to adjust to just playing as a team instead of being a 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1.
Never said those tools don't help, they do. Point is solos shouldn't have to use a perk slot for something that swfs have easily at basekit. Unless you're referring to the tools at basekit, which do very little in helping you actually locate your teammates, so I sure hope you didn't mean that. There's undeniably more room for solo buffs that could and should be implemented

I'm obviously excluding unrealistic scenarios like "what if survivors got guns and could shoot the killer dead LOLZ"
I mean I'm j saying there's def things that could be done to really really discourage tunneling or even make it basically impossible, they've just gotta be wanted and balanced with buffs to killers that spread hooks, so basically never

There's already a ton of tools to do that though.
Bond, Empathy, Aftercare, Empathetic Connection, Kindred, Blood Pact, Situational Awareness, keys with certain addons, and map with the beacon addon all exist. Why do you feel like you need more?
Because it should be basekit, it's already so easy in swf

Or... and hear me out here... DBD is set up the way it is so that killers don't have to play in only one way. Because that'd be hella boring.
Behavior probably should make taking chases more appealing by buffing the perks that support that, but doing it by butchering hnr is not the way.
Would u consider solos having an easier time finding each other to get healed butchering hnr? jw

Neither rly but I would've preferred shattered hope becoming basekit so ig that option

For ~12 of the killers in this game, looping simulator is not a viable approach.
For the rest, most of them have been complained about heavily because they "cheat" the looping process through either antiloop or in chase mobility.
The only killers and playstyles I've seen not gather ire from survivors are ones that aren't effective.
That's cuz dbds balanced in a way that just so happens to make the douchiest strats the most effective. I don't complain about the ppl who use them but I wanna see the devs make the more interesting and engaging strats meta

Yeah... it's a shame really. I think playstyles people dislike (although still valid playstyles given the design and what BHVR has said in the past) make perks and various other aspects of the game as targets to be nerfed when some people (not even the majority) will still tunnel and camp no matter what changes are made. I get being annoyed about being tunneled and camped, but those aren't going away whether we want it to or not
If you literally can't be downed until the killer hooks another survivor will killers really still tunnel then?

Go immersed is the easiest solution. This is one of the reasons Spine Chill is still in my kit. If I see the killer is doing HnR and that icon lights up with no one in chase, I know to dive for cover. HnR depends on the killer finding survivors quickly and being able to chain hit after hit to keep pressure up and not give them time to breath. They can't afford to spend 30-40 seconds searching around a gen for an immersed survivor. And by the time they find you, you can often have set up an escape route so you put them in chase any way, wasting more time of theirs.
This is part of what I'm talking about. I love hide and seek as a survivor but it annoys me to no end as killer. I can't run a killer for three gens, but I have wasted three gens worth of a killer's time while they keep trying to catch me on a gen.
Sounds decent tbf but really boring and I would think unreliable. Sometimes the killer is within 36m of you but not necessarily about to go after you, perhaps someone else. Or they could have an info perk or see you from a distance before you have time to hide. Idk I see what you're getting at but in general I don't think hiding is so extremely reliable, and could be risky if it ends up wasting much more of your time than the killer's

You are really giving STBFL way too much credit my guy. "Impossible" to escape is very extreme especially in relation to STBFL. There are examples I could see a case for saying it disposable to escape without a hook trade (such as infinite tier 3 myers or bubba) but those are outliers.
And honestly getting a 0k is a pretty tremendous failure. Do you really expect people to sign up to play a role they consistently accomplish nothing?
I explained how it makes it impossible earlier, unless you got something like deliverance that even helps against a camping bubba there's basically nothing u can do if the killer has high stacks. Also I'm not saying killers should consistently get 0ks, but it should be possible to get a 4 out if you make good plays against a camping bubba or any killer w high stbfl stacks, and yet it's really not
-
@Rickprado said:
Nerfing STBF? The perk is fine. Even in SoloQ, if the team can understand that the killer has Save The Best, the obsession should be interacting with the killer far more than the other survivor, stoping the killer from gaining stacks easily.
As many have said in this topic, STBFL does not mean a free kill on the endgame.
And how is the obsession supposed to know if there's no comms? They should be notified when the perk is being used. Also, yeah, it does. Even if you do the strat to get the unhook without immediately trading with 2 ppl, the tiny attack cooldown, the speed boost duration partially being wasted during, and body blocking being irrelevant makes it a non option to even attempt getting the 4 out

Or it's because it's a problematic perk that does make it impossible to do so if we're being honest and realistic. Also you imply that it's a free escape without stbfl in play? Yikes.. killers really just can't live with getting a 0k

@Maelstrom808 said:
HnR is fine. Is it a style that can be annoying? Sure, but it has reasonable counterplay and survivors still can play a game out. I don't condone hard tunneling or camping at 5 gens because it basically leaves at least one survivor without anything to do for most of the game except hang on a hook. 3-gening at the start of the game is something I also don't condone as there is little counterplay (understand I'm looking at all of this via solo queue). HnR on the other hand can be defeated by solo queue with reasonable play.
There are many playstyles in the game that are "annoying" or "boring" for one side or the other, but that doesn't mean they aren't valid styles of play. I like chases, but if this game was nothing but chases, I would have lost interest a long time ago.
What do you do about it in solo?

Camping and tunneling will always be a thing even though most of us don't like it. Most people i see have STBFL aren't using it for that purpose. I'd much sooner want to address something like Bubba than random perks because they have the potential to be good for camping/tunneling. Having (at most) a 40% hit cooldown is nice but it's not that nice. A killer will still camp/tunnel without STBFL. Nerfing it doesn't change anything you desire to change because some killers will do the same thing whether they have all the perks in the world or have no perks at all
Yes but on killers besides bubba for example it would be less effective. So they could still try to do it but it won't matter if it's less effective and doesn't yield results

It also indirectly became much harder to "counter" (throwing yourself in front of the killer as the obsession is kind of stupid as counterplay) with the healing nerfs.
Tru. And even then if you only take 1 hit as the obsession then the killer only goes down from 8 to 6 stacks, w the cooldown of the next attack being that of 7, so it basically does nothing unless you literally give the killer a down

Committing to chases foregoes a great deal of your stealth and if someone wants to maintain their stealth advantage for as long as possible you would do hit and run. I know exactly what I am talking about and you can't do anything about it in soloq, but that I personally don't have that problem and when I do play survivor it is only in soloq cause my friends won't touch this game with a 10ft pole. I would hazard to guess that the vast majority of soloq players aren't struggling with hit and run the way you seem to be.
Hit and run isn't a problem vs solos because you guess that it isn't, got it 👍 also yeah but so what, you used your stealth to get an easy first hit on a survivor now the chase can be much shorter. But of course even then committing to chase is just too hard for some people I guess, but of course that's not a skill issue
