The Skill Checks replaced the previous system, which was mashing a button to not die immediatly. Which was pretty bad, since it damaged controllers and was quite annoying to do, especially because if you missed it once, you died.
The Skill Checks made it easier and it also took longer to die, since you had to miss two Skill Checks to die. So there was some protection against missing at least.
Then as part of the Anti-Go Next measurements, it was changed that missing two Skill Checks was not enough. Now missing a Skill Check reduces the Hook Timer, but it takes more Skill Checks to miss to be out of the game. So if someone wants to go next, they take longer to do so which gives other Survivors more time to save them.
Personally, I dont think it makes sense at all to keep people around who want to go next, since they will not suddenly start playing the game. At worst they start to troll the other Survivors, at best they will run towards the Killer or just stand under the Hook. But some people seem to believe it helps.
Regarding the initial question - as said, it matters a bit if you hit the Skill Checks or not. A small fraction of the Hook Timer is removed if you miss one.
that old system was terrible my friend. even around the days as recent as Nemesis release any status effect or game changing effect like Sloppy, noed, Freddy m1, Myers tier 3 anywhere on the level would cause you to miss your skill check and immediately be sacrificed. us console players had it rough

sure, no skill, but can’t the same be said for some of the killer classes? Doesn’t one of them literally buff you (haste/aura read) for the opposition completing their objective (gens)?
all classes have bitter murmur for no hook survivors
-
so much hate over random flavour...kinda odd
-
I was pretty gung ho about it for a while, because I assumed we'd get all the killers eventually. my balloons kinda bursted now so I kinda just stopped caring. id rather be chased by a ghoul than wraith or Oni, sue me. I can't even play someone simple like Unknown..
I'm just pivoting to Rivals until it's over.

I think the ewoks opened that realm of possibility for them, but it took them many many years to capitalise on that
it's a shame that the Ewoks get seen as merely kiddy cash grabs those guys were straight up Vietnamese guerrilla fighters. I thought they were kinda terrifying in RotJ
-
is this my chance to vote for ghoul and springtrap? thank you brother
is this twitter only? I refuse to use twitter
-
he needs a 16m terror radius how can you be the Unknown if by basekit all your shots are known?

It's honestly not rage bait. I'm sorry for not being sufficiently informed when it comes to D&D lore but yeah, the guy really is just a standard everyday fantasy wizard to me. Since you're telling me he's a big deal outside of the Entity's realm… OK, fair enough. But surely you have to admit his powers don't seem all that impressive when he's in the fog (hence why I called him a regular wizard). There's nothing to his DBD incarnation to suggest he belongs in a horror video game any more than Darth Vader does.
Let's be fair and say Vader isn't just a "space wizard" either, though I do think it's still pretty funny to call him that if it annoys people.
now I'm imagining Hagrid saying "yer a wizard, Annie"
-
I'm sure the Nemesis nerfs will come when the escapist nerfs come
Nemesis is kinda single handedly carrying the killer role from being completely miserable
-
a parasite from kiseijuu
-
being too good is a punishable offense in both killer and survivors eyes. and its almost always a trickster too lol. it's almost always a Nancy, Kate or Sable too. there was a time I ran bond for a long time simply because I was running into these people too much that I was constantly dragging out these matches out of spite.
in my case it's simply because I'm too good at navigating RPD, so I'm clearly just a rat who deserves to die, whereas everyone else is simply too easy to get caught.

Ayy, thanks friend :)
What an honor that is!
And I gotta say I definitely agree with ya here. Strength wise he is fine, mostly due to people not knowing how to face him, but it doesn't change how boring he can feel.
id trade him for skull merchant 2 if i could. at the very least I'd like to see him in 2v8
-
I guess there's no money in it, but l4d was the licence that kept me around when I was brand new. I only used the l4d outfits for a good while.
-
that would be nice. I hear you middle easterners and Africans have this issue of having no good servers bhvr should really do something about that
-
who knows, man. vecna had a bug where he lunged slower than other killers.
-
nobody likes or plays Freddy, but i do it in your honour once in a while! I was actually sad Freddy got bugged in the last patch with Houndmaster because I was on a Freddy kick.
Freddy is in a weird spot as he's really strong, has strong built in counterplay, and isn't very exciting so everybody just forgets he exists.
I just love using the Houndmaster perks on him to keep the extend-a-lunge Freddy meme alive. I use Jagged Compass to find the most progressed generator and then I jump off a cliff while teleporting to arrive with a big lunge with All Shaking Thunder.
my last match, I decided to tunnel a Nancy and she dead handed me good so I dropped her, which boosted her ego and she started spam vaulting, which i don't respond to. but this time I said "you wanna keep going? alright, stay right there..." and walked to the crocus prenn main building to jump off and teleport to her.
I've tried my best taking off the houndmaster perks but they're just too cozy to me for Fredster.
it just feels bad to get easy wins when I know the survivors simply do not understand how Freddy works I've never enjoyed winning like that
-
Darth Vader just doesn't work. if his lightsaber m1 doesn't one hit down then what's the point.
also, force choke would be incredibly unfun and toxic for survivor. y'all thought kidnap tech was bad? a Vader that doesn't force choke isn't Vader.
Vader is a character you'd want to be slow like Nurse so yeah...idk I don't see the vision.
I would much rather be given Jaws.

Same. The second I saw what everyone voted for I knew the perks were doomed from the start.
For once the community had the chance to make some interesting perks but everyone just wants cookie cutter bullcrap.
it was going to always be like this lol
-
but I declared a time out!
-
the bans seem to happen in waves; a bunch of reddit posts popped up this week so a bunch of people just got punished.
staggering the bans helps make it harder to detect what part of the cheat is compromised

@Valuetown said:
Unfortunately as expected, your post will be downvoted into oblivion despite Nemesis and Oni being one of the most prevalent combos this 2v8.
But yes, Nemesis is not fair. Neither is Oni. Downvotes with no discussion just proves that killers don't want to work for a win.
pushing an "i win chase" button is surely hard work.
slow killers like Pyramid Head are persona non grata in 2v8 because of Escapist. even Nemesis is awful, but people are putting up with him for the slowdown.

I do not believe The Legion was ever a problem. The problem was The Legion paired with The Oni. This means I think the real problem is The Oni. 8 survivors is just too many blood orbs scattered across the map, even without The Legion's quick injuries. What they should do is re-enable The Legion but make The Oni's blood orbs only last for 30-60 seconds if not absorbed. So he can get his power up quickly, but not have it up non-stop because the entire map is covered in blood orbs by The Legion, The Plague, or hell even The Blight.
I missed the legion meta because the widespread violence made it rain BP for everybody, and in the end the medics group healed everybody. now with no legion, I sometimes am the only medic because everybody wants to run sprint burst.
-
oh well, we need something to deal with 4x escapist class.
you guys complained about legion so killers need something else.

I was actually surprised they kill switched him in the first place. He previously had a much worse bug that soft locked him into permanently carrying an injured Survivor after bounding into them and it ruined the entire trial. It wasn't at all uncommon either and present for at least a couple iterations. He never got kill switched for that so I doubt they would kill switch him again if he's mostly working OK now.
I was really enjoying 2V8 without him too. But now that he's back and in every. single. trial. again I'm just getting my challenges done and taking a break. Dude is basically my Legion in the mode.
do you know if that bug is still here, post killswitch?
-
I feel the range differences give him some personality
-
he's wearing clothes underneath his birthday suit
-
bring back lights out plz
the candelabras were peak atmosphere
-
I'm struggling too. I wish I could have a separate killer/survivor side aura setting.
-
were not allowed to discuss killer balance regarding 2v8 because of the mythological queue times…if you suggest you're going to stop playing killer people will cheer and say "hurry up and get out of line already! I want your spot!"
you pretty much have to play 1v4, or take a break.

Well then by that checklist killers like Hag and Clown should be able to get in Quickly
both of those killers are hated, unfortunately.

she deserves better, merchant v2 was so nice to have.

You could say the same about survivor.
Sprintburst, vigil, lithe, deadhard, stb, wglf, unbreakable, ds, windows, 5SA, 4 medkits every game
You want the meta to change on both sides start advocating for weaker perks getting buffed and stop nerfing things that only hurt lower tier killers and solo queue
Edit: buff pebble, and shorten the delay on bada bada boom pls 🙏
don't forget Finesse in that list. the ever reliable second exhaustion for when the regular ol pre run doesn't quite cut it

steadfast is on its way to compete with road life and treacherous crows as a contender for the worst survivor perk in the game lol who came up with those numbers? they did say that none of it is final so i could see them toning it down to maybe 20% debuff or 30% but 50% is just dead on arrival if that goes to live.
that's an insult to treacherous crows, mate. these perks are just buns.
Salvation Cry seems aight..

Ayo what i didnt know about this. Been using the weakest class just for blast mine. time to switch up for some fun.
the gen class is an honest 9-5 class it may do nothing flashy post rework but it puts in effort. someone's gotta use that poor class, honestly.
I am "the" scout guy but this time around I've been using this class or medic. Wake Up is so underrated

@Rokku_Rorru said:
Sprint Burst isn't so bad when you play with the other killer and cut them off, but it's designed for those kinds of situations.
Otherwise there wouldn't be many options when killers decide to work together, games would become really one-sidedthe problem i feel is that that's simply not the meta. playing with the other killer is a losing plan unless you so happen to be nearby.
the 2 killers kinda have to be playing independent matches in order to exert the maximum amount of pressure. if i had all the time in the world to chase, I wouldn't mind.
when I play rpd for example I stress to my friends to never come to "my" side
-
at least let all the traps start armed....something!

I personally do, I more care about wanting to be able to interact with her. Plus whose to say someone can't catch one at the end of the fatigue?
I more care about the killer feeling good to go against, losing my head on to no stun and becoming exhausted for it, kind of sucks ngl.I miss it myself. having survivors try to stun me even though it's not optimal causes me massive psychological damage when it works as a bad nurse.removing it felt like she lost all her interaction

killers need something to deal with sprint burst now that legions gone

There's nothing "wrong" I guess, the unique audio for the head is just a terrible sound.
oh ok ignore me then. I think its a nice sound but I also think ghoul and plague are satisfying. I was worried I was bugging peoples games for second

It's the new Rift skin, yeah, specifically the head. You're not the first person I've heard say it's bothered them. The skin is cool but listening to that sound is not my favorite either.
what's wrong with it? Haven't seen any issues with the audio yet
-
pretty sure it's always been like this and people are only talking about it because of a viral video that blew up because nobody plays scout or cares enough to coordinate.
this isn't an issue.
-
bhvr needs to hurry up and just add all the killers already. even plague you could obliterate her passive and object interaction rate.
I still think this would be a net buff for survivor fun and queue rates, but people are simply short sighted on the manner.
yeah, I'd love to play ghoul but I already wanna play killer so that really changes nothing. 2v8 surv has 0% chance of springtrap so why would I wanna play that? maybe now I'd want to play 2v8 against springtrap because I do not really care for the current 2v8 roster I enjoyed bullying Legion but they're gone.
I don't like Trapper, I hate Wraith, I don't care for Huntress, don't care for Billy and I don't like Nurse. woo yeah so excited to play survivor guys.(not)
-
it'd be a perfect fit they gotta do it

I get it. But givin BHVRs track record they may feel The Tall-Man is too niche. Might regulate him to a skin. The twins would fit.
I 100% agree though. A phantasm chapter with Mike and Reggie as survivors. Funeral Home Mausoleum map. The dwarfs etc... that would be amazing. Perhaps the dimensional forks to move around.
to give bhvr some credit, they gave us Ringu instead of The Ring. you never know
