  • @Kimura , please edit this and press the Enter key a few times. This hurts my eyes to try and read.

  • I actually saw a image on Reddit, taken from the description of "Yamaoka's Estate" and how it came to be. There is a possibility that the next Killer is actually Spirit's ancestor, not her father.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/dvvhbz/new_killer_first_yamaoka/

"... They say his devilish mask haunted the dreams of all men."

The blood was absorbed into the oni mask in the teaser. Wouldn't that hint at the first Yamaoka being the next Killer?

Of course, it's possible that the next Killer is just Rin's father, but this might be a case of misdirection like what happened with Spirit and how people thought Rin's father was gonna be the next Killer, and not Rin herself. People might be thinking it's Rin's father again when it's actually a Yamaoka family member...

Scott prefers killer and is a well known "huntress legend"... I dont agree with his views for spirit but hes far from being survivor main.

I may have heard of his channel if he's a "Huntress Legend" a long while ago... still doesn't make him right though.

  • Nope. Should I care at all?

He could be top 1 Killer, doesn't mean he isn't wrong.

  • What a nice circlejerk.

So, if I tell you to git guud after explaining everything you're doing wrong and giving you suggestions, you'd listen to me?

Doubt it, some of these people think Spirit has "nO CoUntErPlaY" and think ######### like blue scratch marks is a balanced idea that totally won't fair Survivors...

If its so easy why don't we go into a KYF and you tell me every time I'm using my power? I guarantee you can't do it reliably whatsoever. I've tested this with people that have claimed they can see all of these things before. Sometimes I would literally never use my power, just jerk my mouse slightly to the right or something, and they'd say I used my power. Using the schoolgirl outfit makes all of this pointless and useless.

So, you're saying there's a issue with the schoolgirl outfit then?

Also, thanks for admitting you want to "reliably" counterplay a Killer over and over. You're exactly the type of person I was complaining about earlier: A biased Survivor who doesn't want to think or try to get into the Killer's head. You want safe, consistent methods of beating Killers that CAN trip you up.

Willing to bet you won't think "no counterplay" when it comes to genrush too and elite Survivor teams.

Morons like you don't understand how big of a deal "blue scratch marks" would be. Because you can't see the bigger picture.

"Ohhhh, Spirit is phasing! And she's phasing THAT way! Well, I just have to do this simple thing and then she can't do anything to me! Dur hur, I'm so good! gg ez baby Killer!"

Where is the "counterplay" to getting your movements constantly read at loops, hmmm? What will the counterplay be to Survivors being able to constantly tell where you are? How will you be able to mindgame them? What is the safe and consistent counterplay to genrush too?

The answer: There is none. Which is your goal: EZ wins for you, a Survivor main.

  • @Venom368 said:

Spirit has been out long enough to where decisions can be made off of her win rate data. Add-on win rate is tracked as well, so that will help the team to decide what needs to be changed. The end goal is to bring all killers in line with eachother.

"Dont nerf a killer for overperforming" is blatantly pushing people towards playing OP killers instead of trying to balance them all. Buffs and nerfs to make things balanced are what keep the game refreshing and keep it from getting stale. Some OP ######### gets nerfed to #########, and some ######### stuff becomes OP when trying to balance sometimes. The meta evolves. It's what keeps the game interesting.

And literally, there is ALWAYS a 4:1 survivor to killer ratio for every match played. Im a killer main, but from a business perspective it makes sense to take into account the pleas of survivors more than killers. It's the majority of the playerbase.

I play Spirit a lot, because I know she is strong. I would rather not feel like I'm at a disadvantage by playing another killer, just because I'm bored with playing Spirit.

So, because she's winning more, that would mean that she HAS to be nerfed... Survivor skill, Survivor rank, Killer rank, maps and other things don't matter... okay. Spirit's strengths and weaknesses definitely don't matter as well. As well as why she's picked so much... 'kay.

""Dont nerf a killer for overperforming" is blatantly pushing people towards playing OP killers instead of trying to balance them all."

On the flip side, "only nerf top tier killers and never buff low tier killers to deal with a major problem (elite "gg ez" Survivor teams who genrush like crazy)" also pushes people towards top tiers. Especially since, because of how the lobby system works, you can't tell if you're dealing with a elite team until you get in-game. You might as well always play it safe. Use your best perks, use the best Killers, JUST IN CASE a team rolls around that will make you wish you brought a mori.

There is a major issue with Survivors that people play Spirit to counter. You would rather be Survivor biased and make it even easier to win as Survivor instead of dealing with the major issue that Killers face.

This is also the reason why nobody plays Killer and why Survivor lobby times are so long as a result: Because it's not fun. Every Killer is weak and has the same weaknesses (which is what you REALLY mean by "bringing all Killers in line", making sure they have the same easy strategy to beat them with), why play Killer when you're gonna be consistently sweaty all the time?

Survivors are evidently going to be getting more BP as well, which is taking away from one of the reasons for playing Killer.

Clearly, Killers must be nerfed so hard until this game dies because the dumb Survivors who complain about "nO cOunTeRpLaY" stop playing because of long matchmaking. And don't even learn why that matchmaking was so long in place.

If one side can't have fun, the other side doesn't deserve to have fun either. Want Spirit nerfed? Compromise then.

  • @NMCKE said:

Spirit doesn't have a lot of counter play that doesn't involve using a perk. It's basically a guessing game that she controls, and sure, if the Spirit is predictable, you can make some solid guesses and avoid getting hit. However, when are great Spirits ever predictable?

Also, using a perk to counter a general problem is fine, but using a perk to counter something that rarely shows up is not fine.

She needs to leave blue scratch marks behind her while phasing and to compensate, lower her phase cool-down to 10 seconds. ??

Iron Will counters every Killer. Most high rank Killers use headphones and listen for your pained cries if they lose you. Iron Will also counters Nurse as well. Quick and Quiet is also good VS a phasing Spirit as well. Lets you confuse Spirits very easily and quickly and win chases.

Even great Spirits also suffer from their biggest weakness: Collision. They are not Nurse, they cannot go through things. Vaults, pallets, objects... they must respect these. Great Spirits cannot truly ignore loops, they have to path to the Survivor and then hit them.

When a Survivor is at a loop, they can position themselves at weird and unpredictable spots to make it impossible to even run into them. Like just outside a loop, etc...

Being injured does not mean you will get hit by phase too. Great Spirits must respect vaults and pallets. Sometimes vaulting something multiple times can confuse a Spirit. Same for pausing before making another vault. You just have to get into the Spirit's mind. Many Spirits suffer from predictable attempts at reads and can be read accordingly.

But no, you'd rather just throw your hands in the air and beg for nerfs that would, without fail, make Spirit Legion tier. Blue scratch marks? Yeah, no, you just want safe, consistent methods of dealing with a Killer so you can easily loop them for 5 gens and then teabag at the gates and think you're good. That's the goal, that's ALWAYS the goal.

"Spirit's phasing? Well, I'll just do this one simple thing and I can't get hit! Duh huh, I'm so smart, doing this one braindead thing over and over that, unironically, can't be mindgamed by the Spirit!"

I've listened to the complaints. All of them are stupid and boil down to "We don't want to think! We want things to be easy!". You're entitled.

You're also against running Iron Will because you want to run meta perks. And ONLY meta perks. You want to have Adrenaline every game, you want to bring Dead Hard every game, etc... you don't want to switch perks.

    It's that simple.

If Clown know when to chase and when to change target he will get downs in seconds.

    Clown's biggest weakness is pallets.

Clown could straight up need another use for his bottles. Like that one that lets him increase movement speed by drinking a bottle or something. The reload time does not need changing, let add-ons do that job. Just let him hold one more bottle without add-ons, add a second use and that's pretty much it.

Legion... they need their old speeds back for starters. I wanna go fast again...

I think if they’d just add a relay switch to power the gates once all the generators were done that required a small minigame like connecting wires or replacing fuses it would fix a lot of the balancing issues and it would give survivors something to do besides hold m1 on generators.

But then NOED would become even more clutch...

Maybe a second objective that has to be done besides generators would be better.

Isn't Ochido still playing DBD? They banned him on PC and console from what I've heard but he's still making Youtube montages...

  • "We"?

You're a trusted member of the community, not a official dev.

  • I would rather they just rebuild the game from the ground up and then transfer save data.

New graphics, new engine. Same content, but rework the code so it's much easier to add new things to it. And isn't, well, made of spaghetti code. (The game's coding is, I think, a internal issue that makes updates very hard and if this was fixed the game would become much healthier overall.)

I don't mind going completely devoid of content for a few years if it meant getting a MUCH more modern and powerful DBD that is easy to update.

Yes, everyone can and has seen the tome 4 challenges. I was an early complainer in regards to the challenges with the exact reasons you've listed, you're preaching to the choir at this point.

I've seen many different people in positions of power say some of them are placeholders, however I don't care enough to dig through everywhere to locate them. You'll see when it happens I guess.

Alternatively, they don't change it and everyone hits up rank 16 with a SWF squad to get it done. Pretty sure the devs are smart enough to realize that'll happen, but I frankly don't care either way at this point.

Youtubers are not "positions of power". If you have a official DBD staff member saying so, that's different. But in that case, you should be able to name them at least. Especially if you have seen "many different people" claim as such.

  • @LordGlint said:

They've already said alot of these challenges are just placeholders. Wait til the 4th time page is actually released before complaining about it.

Do you have a source or are you just taking AsePlayer at their word?

They aren't willing to source that claim. It can't be taken as fact as a result.

  • These are interesting... maybe have Wilson be a spider fanatic too or something. I feel like she needs more detail besides being a stereotypical "strong woman" with the company and jazz.

Mask of the Reaper needs a buff and a name change. Increase the amount of tokens, I think...

Eyes on Me... so, if I have this right, if you join a chase with another Survivor, and you remain in the chase for 3 seconds without running, their status affects are transferred to you?

This perk sounds interesting but I just don't see it being meta.

Also... why is Exposed only transferred if it's from Ghostface? Why not have ALL Exposed effects transfer too? Better yet, why not have all status effects transferred altogether? Hindered, Blindness, etc...

Hemo also leaves more frequent blood pools when injured, it doesn't cause blood pools to appear even when healthy...

Run It Like You Mean It should maybe be called "Run Like You Mean It" unless it is in reference to a phrase or something.

How would you heal or get hit before 7 seconds passed tho? Unless you're being toxic and finish a heal in front of the Killer, this would never be canceled via healing. Instaheals also take 16 seconds to take effect... and since the Killer would be getting stunned, how would they hit you?

This perk also seems very abusable. Since this perk doesn't rely on Exhaustion and is refreshed upon ending a chase, you could abuse how the game detects chases to regain this perk very quickly. It doesn't SOUND strong, but imagine a form of Lithe that is not bound by exhaustion and only requires you lose the Killer's LoS for like... 5 seconds? (Which would typically happen after getting a pallet stun BTW.)

If this is supposed to be meta, it definitely sounds meta. But... dunno, sounds like Survivors could bully a Killer with this and make chases go on much longer than they should.

Complaining about the tier 4 challenges is beating a dead horse at this point. It's already been officially said that some of the insane challenges are just placeholders for now.

    Insane challenges are placeholders?

Prove it. Give a official source, please.

Because we have proof that these challenges are in game. At the moment, if you complete all challenges on PS4 for tome 1 and then open the Archives menu, you see the tome 4 screen instead of the tome 1 screen. You can highlight all of the challenges. They have these conditions, they're completely real and within the game.

TBH, these look like standard Identity V challenges. lmao The Survivor challenges in Identity V are terrible. Looks like the DBD fanbase will be feeling some of the pain pretty soon...

Also, people WILL depip to get these challenges done. You need phenomally stupid Survivors in order for some of these conditions to occur as Killer. And phenomally stupid Killers as Survivor to get some of these done (though the 4 gens challenge could be done at possibly green or purple ranks if you just focus on the gens and nothing else.)

I was just thinking, is stealth/playing immersed, a good counter to spirit?

Because i realised something, no one wants to sit on a gen and hold m1/r2 etc on a gen, most want to be chased right? Usually when they do there are *click click* flashlight "look at me" being shoved in your face haha. But if winning against spirit means avoiding chases, playing stealthy, then maybe thats another reason people are so mad about her being un fun to play against? Because they dont want to try an hide they want to play looping simulator

Low ranks are either bad at stealth or too stealthy. Red ranks are bad at stealth or don't care about being stealthy and just run for the nearest loop, even if they could definitely avoid a chase altogether in multiple scenarios.

Survivors barely try to be stealthy or don't care at all. They always go for a loop, hence why Spirit is needed. Because that's what Survivors always do.

Spirit cannot see you if she is phasing. People are not harnessing this weakness to it's fullest extent because nobody WANTS to play stealthy. You can get away with being immersed QUITE easily if you know what you're doing.

i thought us players using word "wm1" and not healing at rank1 so i guessed same viewpoint about balance but maybe not yet

the most i hating in dbd some noobs using words like "wm1 can be skillful"

because that only meaning your survivor playerbase still doesn't having clue and not having great efficiency at your rank

if you can use maps, except lab and old wrecker yard you can safe loop to take more than half gens from killer

im happy to being first chase of killer, they already missed all kill chance at least and mostly it ended with 1kill or 2kills at egc

does that game sounds fun for killer? if all survivor is good enough killer doesn't having chance with wm1

that should main story in sane dbd community

What does "wm1" mean, might I ask?

Also, you don't even have to loop the Killer for long. You can do extremely poor loops and if gens pop, you're winning. Doesn't matter if you got downed fast. Doesn't matter if you just run from pallet to pallet and burn through pallets.

  • It's fairly obvious what we're gonna see. "SpIrIt HaS No CoUntErPlAY", "SPIRIT IS UNFUN".

Not gonna be surprised when the majority rule, 100% convinced it's right and unable to be reasoned with as a result, rears it's head, again,

Found another person with a Tapp icon that is just like this. Why is it that all Tapp accounts speak in perfect English but have poor logic?

Oh really? Name the part where I said you were a Survivor main "again".

Because you must have read QUITE far into it, looking for something you can use to escape a argument.

    Stay dishonest and biased. ;)

What are YOU trying to say by "eXpErIeNcEd KiLlErS"?

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

I was going to take part, but this is geared towards survivor players.

Definitely. If Spirit must be nerfed, Survivors must be nerfed. Period. Spirit is the only Killer who can deal with elite red rank Survivor teams and their genrush + long looping. You don't get to keep your tools while the other team loses theirs, Survivors.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://clips.twitch.tv/FantasticTangentialMonkeyMikeHogu

I know it's a crazy concept, but it is entirely possible to make an attempt to see both perspectives.

PS: Suggesting taking a perk that you otherwise would not have for a single killer (Iron Will x Spirit) is not "counterplay", it's a blind-counterpick and does not even address her main issues in this case.

And I don't expect you to. It's easier to just throw your hands in the air and demand something has "no counterplay" and then scream until it becomes easier for you. Spirit has a myriad of weaknesses, you just aren't harnessing them.

Also, the majority of the playerbase is Survivors. Who also don't touch Killer. I'm typically right in calling people Survivor mains.

"I've seen not a single high-profile killer main claim that Spirit isn't overpowered and does not deserve a nerf. ZubatLEL, Scott Jund, UMBRA (who is top 10 in the leaderboards for most sacrificed survivors)."

"I know it's a crazy concept, but it is entirely possible to make an attempt to see both perspectives."

Oh really? Nerf Survivors then. Nerf the gen times, nerf the maps.

I know it's a crazy concept, but you MUST compromise if you want to take the last Killer who can deal with elite SWF away from Killers. You shouldn't be able to just demand nerfs over and over again and not lose your tools to ruin the game for Killers.

You must make a attempt to see from BOTH perspectives. ;)

If you won't compromise, Spirit stays. Period.

I play both sides, and I won't listen to Survivor mains unless they are willing to compromise. Their reasoning for Spirit nerfs is typically trash anyways.

"PS: Suggesting taking a perk that you otherwise would not have for a single killer (Iron Will x Spirit) is not "counterplay", it's a blind-counterpick and does not even address her main issues in this case."

Iron Will also countered old Nurse. And it counters all Killers, as a lot of red rank Killers and good Killers in general either use headphones or have good ears. Iron Will is completely underrated.

I can tell you're one of the babies who cries about "no counterplay" until it's extremely easy for you to win, huh? Or until you have safe, consistent methods of repeatedly defeating Killers (which is what most people who use words like "counterplay" want: Nothing that requires too much thought or prediction.) until all gens pop so you can teabag at the exit gates and pretend you're good.

Agree with all minus the "deafening". She's supposed to be a killer that relies on hearing, not eyesight. It's a good design in theory, gives ample space for skill expression, and does not need to be taken away.

The problem is that the way she is played now doesn't require much eyesight or hearing; she can rely on ######### coinflip "mindgames". And calling it a "mindgame" is a bit of a stretch. It is the equivalent of hiding a coin in one of your hands, putting your hands behind your back, and asking someone to choose which hand has the coin. I picked left when I should have picked right. Such mindgame, wow.  "I guessed she was phasing but she wasn't phasing! Darn, such outplay".

I'd go as far as make a visual indicator when she phases since the sound design of this game is finicky at best and breaks every other patch.

Amazing on how nobody complained about any of this for a long time until Legion was gutted...

It IS mindgames, you just don't know how to play them. Maybe, instead of running out of the loop like a panicking chicken and leaving scratch marks everywhere the moment you think she's phasing like a rank 20, you should linger around the loop.

Spirit only has so many paths and options to take, depending on the environment.

Also, I don't want a fully consistent, reliable method of dealing with Spirit. Because then people (toxic elite SWF) will use that method consistently and she loses some of her power to stop Survivors.

Iron Will, body glows when she's phasing, predictable pathing, can't go through objects... git guud. There's plenty to use. But will the majority listen? Noooope. It's easier to give up and scream for nerfs while not compromising some of the power Survivors have.

  • There is absolutely no way to change Spirit that will not piss off red ranks, other than a nerf. No buffs are allowed either.

Gonna copy and paste a specific thing I already wrote, should explain this nicely.

"The common sentiment is "Spirit is OP" (her lunge is trash and she moves at old Legion speed. She NEEDS her power, kinda like old Legion), "Spirit has no counterplay" (Iron Will, being unpredictable. Vaults and solid objects too. Her body also glows when she's phasing. Her animation resets when she's phasing too, from what I've heard.) and "nerf Spirit". It's the exact same mindset, attitude and reasoning I saw for Legion.

Also, the other stupidity you're seeing for suggestions is the majority demographic: Stupid Survivor mains who want her nerfed because there's a Killer they can't completely predict. They want it to be easy to loop her. Simple. It's why they want major tells when she's phasing; to remove her mindgame potential for the sake of "CoUnTeRpLaY".

Vaulting animation is easily the dumbest complaint imaginable. Like all Killers, when they're vaulting, they snap into place. Spirit does the same thing. And if she doesn't appear within 3 seconds upon getting close to the vault, she's phasing or waiting for you to get close.

If you read her and just sit behind the vault but not close enough that she can hit you, you're winning the chase.

"No counterplay" had some very specific reasoning for Legion, but even then that excuse was used for some very preventable and counterable scenarios. But for Spirit? Nope.

She's the only Killer who can deal with high ranks now ([BAD WORD] off with that "ALL KILLERS ARE GOOD AT HIGH RANK" nonsense. You're saying that because you're fine with depipping and getting zero kills.) and even then she struggles.

I'm playing at high ranks on console. Lots of people run Iron Will because it's completely underrated. People know how to mindgame Spirit. I find myself repeatedly reliant on my power because they can get to the next loop because my natural walkspeed as Spirit is Legion-level speeds. I can't end chases. And despite the fact that I'm wielding a katana, my lunge is bad and it's easy to fast vault over pallets before Spirit can hit you."

If you are going to nerf her power in the SLIGHTEST, @Auron471 , you MUST buff her elsewhere. She is reliant on her power to get downs. She is slow without her power and she has a bad lunge.

My suggestion? Change nothing. She's in a fine position as she is. A good Spirit will be able to 4k elite Survivor bully groups. As she should. We need ways to destroy the egos of Survivors that are toxic and think they can bully Killers the whole game. (I play both sides BTW.)

But this is what I said about Legion while repeatedly mentioning the many weaknesses they had.

Maybe increase prayer beads rarity tier, but I think it'll just get gutted like Frank's.

The common, established sentiment is that "Spirit has no counterplay". There is nothing you can do about it. You can only ignore the mob or give them what they want. That's all. You can't reason with them.

2.No one is jumping to conclusions

3.No one said she's gonna end up like legion

Nope.

She's the only Killer who can deal with high ranks now (######### off with that "ALL KILLERS ARE GOOD AT HIGH RANK" nonsense.

And despite the fact that I'm wielding a katana, my lunge is bad and it's easy to fast vault over pallets before Spirit can hit you.

These devs are stupid, period. They CANNOT be trusted to balance things. They've demonstrated this over and over again. They got lucky with Spirit. But they made a Killer that is actually more fragile than they realize, and they will inevitably manhandle her if they decide to touch her at ALL.

They've gotten better, but recent events still show this is the case.

if you make the maps more fair to the killers those who are already really good like spirit will be better, hence why they don't focus only on the map rework, you can say whatever you want but the reason that red ranks are filled with spirit is because she is the best (aside from nurse, but who wants to have to practice 10x as much to get even with spirit?) and buffing every killer a little still means that the tier list is the same, not counting the problem that any kind of map rework will most likely buff the outliers more than any other weak/avarege killer

map reworks/ buffs and nerfs are required to make a good game

Gens need nerfs too. :> Not just map reworks.

  • I feel like people have misunderstood OP.

Y'all are talking about this from a gameplay perspective when @laplace is referring to the lore.

I feel like Head-On only works because the Killer isn't expecting it. A Killer will be ready to swing with their weapon if a Survivor runs at them. The Killer will be on guard. A Killer has to be caught off-guard in order to get stunned.

When did they state that the hatch was invented by a survivor? Was it in a live stream?

I think it was in a Q&A at some point...

I also don't know where @kornflake is getting their info from ("creator of hatch is already in game", "people tend to ignore", etc...) and I would like to see sources...

  • Complaining about Legion in 2019.

That Legion you went up against at red ranks must be a Legion god, @ArrowTheGreat11 Since Freddy was given his wonderful rework, Legion and Clown are now two of the worst killers in the game. If that Legion is doing well, you're either boosted or they deserve to be that high.

So theres bad and nasty people out there in the world.

But ohmygawd they dare come onto the internet and into video games too?!?! The horror...

Its not bannable. Just another bad douchy person amongs the many out there. I didnt even click the files since it seems you lack the decency to blur peoples names in hopes to shame or get a witch hunt going??

You can vent dude. But people are going to voice their opinions about it when you make your own opinion public.

Mmm, dunno. Do the devs really not ban, even when we have a player doing it endlessly to grief?

Which protection hits does WGLF supposed to count towards? Because not all stacks count for that either. And it doesn't quite explain why sometimes a stack will work doing the same thing, yet another time, doesn't count... so.... yea... definitely confusing... Hopefully they look into it, and explain it better to people.

I think protection hits that specifically come from bodyblocking count. You have to be very close to a Survivor for WGLF stacks to trigger. It's easier to get stacks from safe hook rescues tbh. Borrowed also basically ENSURES you get that stack before a Survivor is downed from tunneling.

  • Distortion... mm, I don't know. A complaint people had with Distortion when it was on the PTB originally was that it didn't just counter Barbeque, it completely destroyed Barbeque.

I don't know if I like the thought of a perk that regains tokens that easily. Needs to be harder tbh.

    Aftercare is mostly fine.

Breakdown, can't agree. Will definitely be abused by elite Survivor teams who are trying to get away with unsafe hook rescues. (This was ALSO a big complaint on the PTB; How it could be possibly abused by SWF groups.) I don't mind a Breakdown buff, but please think this one over, @StarMoral

  • @HellCatJane said:

The problem I noticed with Scott Jund playing, was that the protection hits didn't ALL count. Or it would of been far "easier" to get. I'd love for actual protection hits to count... not some.. I don't see that in the description of the perk... It doesn't say 50/50 chance of a protection hit to proc it. It says protection hits, like all of them.. I think fixing that would be a start. And may actually make MoM worth it, not too easy to get, but more easily obtained.

I think the issue is that there are multiple kinds of protection hits that are all labeled under "Protection", leading to confusion.

MoM does not actually need to be buffed (apart from clearly stating how long the aura reveal lasts) the Protection score events actually need different names. This way we know which score event just triggered via a glance. "Hook Protection" (defending a person being unhooked) "Hit Protection" (taking hits in general) and "Unhook Protection" (taking hits for someone who was recently unhooked and/or standing close to them as they are running around, maybe within a certain meter radius.

Hopefully these different score event names will be a good start...

They can't make a competitive scene because it'd be ridiculous to an outside audience. A bunch of teenagers running a serial killer around piles of junk and dropping rainbow-colored wood on their head isn't the best for E-sports viewing.

The devs actually tried this and held a real tournament. There was supposedly a lot of flaws, like the commentators seeming very... lacking in basic knowledge about the game, as well as some other things.

It was a good start, I think, but they haven't held another one since then IIRC.

  • @Deadeye said:

Would maybe need some serious statistics. In my opinion, the game breaking stuff is not really that often. And there are several skill based killers like nurse (which is kinda bulls if you CANT play her) and spirit, and also all the stealth killers like pig and GF, Myers depending on build.

Several killers have their own mindgame set which need skill to use and need skill to use their powers, like pig ambush attack on loops, aiming with Plague, Clown, Huntress, I think even Placing with Trapper, Freddy and Hag is skill based if it gets beyond the default spots where almost every survivor expects traps.

And from survivor side, timing and optimized looping is pretty much skill based. Knowing which direction to loop, how much distance you need to get the window without getting hit, being able to look around while in chase, awareness where the killer is whie chasing... I really can't share the opinion that all of this is not skill based.

Regarding the game breakers, I know that, if you play several games a day, you will most likely face it at least once per day. But notice that negative experience is always recognized stronger than positive. So the bad games weigh harder than the good ones, even if it is just 2 out of 10, feels more like 5 out of 10.

The main problem seriously are the bugs and the balancing. Sometimes I also wish they should get some consulting from Blizzard about balancing, they'ev proven in several games that they kinda master this discipline. But a "rather bugfree" DBD would also change the impression of the balancing and game experience massively.

Blizzard screwed up WoW by making all classes the same from what I've heard. Overwatch also has problems with balancing as well.

Also, with their current controversy? Not a good idea to be asking them for tips.

  • OP, this list started off nice, but became worse and worse as it went on. Some perks just became broken, unnecessary or easy to abuse at high ranks.

Deja Vu as it is now is meant to stop 3 gen checkmates. The buffed version would be better, yes, but it won't be as easy to tell which gens are closest.

Up The Ante is absolutely unnecessary, the luck mechanic needs to be reworked and buffed instead. This sounds way too broken. Also, no counterplay to Thano is needed. lmao It's a weak perk as it is unless you can apply injured to everyone easily (Legion, Plague) Red ranks will also definitely abuse this.

Open-Handed is nice, but lower the tier 3 maximum to 20. Two people running this would make it a bit too strong.

Be careful with Saboteur. I'm sure people here still remain the nightmare that was the sabo meta...

I also don't really care about Survivor "fun" when it comes to Flip-Flop. Gens pop way too quickly as it is now and Survivors have it far easier. Might not be necessary.

Mettle of Man just needs the Protection scoring system reworked altogether and a EXACT number on how long your aura is revealed for. It's fine as it stands currently.

Hope is absolutely unacceptable. Just run Small Game (or buff it, as you said) if you want to prevent NOED. Not only that, but when Hope inevitably becomes overpowered and meta, Killers will ALWAYS run NOED to counter the speed boost that Survivors get. Chases would take way too long once all gens pop and Killers would have no chance to even secure a kill.

Wake Up... hard no over here. That sounds extremely annoying. Just buff Wake Up as it is.

Vigil: I saw a buff idea for this on Reddit, and I honestly agreed with it. Instead of what you're saying, have Vigil let you recover from ALL effects that have a timer. And if something like NOED is active... Vigil count instead negate Exposed if the perk user stands close to the Exposed survivor when they get hit. I don't know if Vigil should shield the user instead, maybe it should, but that might make it too extreme.

Calm Spirit... just fix the second hook bug instead.

Technician, no. Perks like Overcharge would be even worker and Ruin would be countered harder.

Autodidact: Just add a extra Skill Check chance. Don't add those other changes, it makes it too good.

Pharmacy... what if I wanted to search chests faster and get things OTHER than a green kit? Most people typically need only one kit per game, there is no need for others.

Poised... I would rather the scratch mark timer just be increased instead. But that could be fine.

Resilience is unacceptable as well. Gen speed also doesn't need to go any faster, it's too fast as it is.

    Camaraderie*.

Aftercare... This sounds too strong as well.

The reason why Distortion has only 3 tokens instead of 5 is so it doesn't completely counter Barbeque. This was actually a concern on the PTB when the Legion/Jeff was still being tested.

Fixated would allow people to move extremely quickly... I don't know. This might make it too easy for Survivors to escape detection. However, stealth options for Survivors need buffs...

Anything I have not addressed should be fine...

Hopefully Killer perks could be reworked as well, @ItWasLitFamJFK?

People will turn on plague once they're sick of her gen slowdown builds.

Either her or Ghostface. Spirit getting nerfed will lower the bar for what "OP" is considered.

You can make any Killer in this game sound OP if you word it right, no joke.

"Ghostface needs a nerf!!! He can't be looped because of his power and he can move freely without a terror radius and grab me off gens!!!"

"Plague needs a nerf!!! P3 Claudettes Survivors can't hide from her when fully infected and her power takes no skill to injure someone with!!!"

Like, people ignore a Killer's strengths and focus on their weaknesses until the bar is lowered. Then that Killer needs a nerf, is too OP because they can actually DO something and Survivors want to loop Killers for 5 gens without getting damaged at all, then teabag at the exit gate...

I have a suggestion: Name a Killer to me and I'll find a way to make them sound OP and "worthy of nerfs".

The problem isn't gen speed. The problem is that rushing gens is the MOST efficient way to win.

So... the problem is gen speed then?

If you don't agree, what would you propose instead? Second objectives...?

Gen times don't need changes. Maps need changes and bad killers need to be buffed to be Freddy and Billy level. Thankfully, many of the lower tier killers are only in need of number changes.

They do. As that's how gens mostly pop. Especially during chases.

Maps don't need much changes except maps like Blood Lodge, The Game and maybe Hawkins.

A lot of the lower tier killers are lacking in either map pressure, mobility or chase potential. They will need more than "just a few buffs"...

Can I hear some of your buff suggestions by any chance?

in case of a Trapper, i can understand the hate towards the perk though.

like, you spent a lot of time getting that setup going and they get to just walk around and disarm everything for free, which is kinda stupid.

Trapper doesnt really need such a huge middlefinger counterperk.

I recommend you watch Otzdarva. They are a Trapper god. Last thing you should be doing is wasting large amounts of time running around the map just to set up traps.
