I'm not looking forward to it at all. Completely messed up queue times for 3 weeks last time and I got sick of playing it after about 3 days. Got so boring for me so quickly. Was no depth or variety at all, just wall to wall Huntress for 3 weeks. Only good thing was that it made some of the old tome challenges a lot easier to complete.

Won't be playing DBD very much once it arrives until it goes away again.

    Same here.

Hot take: 2v8 should have been delayed until either way more original or licensed killers were made available.

2v8 is different from the other modifiers. It is more popular and it has an impact in queue times. It shouldn't be as restrictive as the first iteration was.

    Totally agree!

  • @Toystory3Monkey said:

worst part of 2v8 is that it's extremely casual gamemode where you have way less skill expression and agency. it's very boring to play, it doesn't offer anything new or fun for the survivor, it doesn't make chases more exciting, it cuts down killer variety.

the most interesting thing about this gamemode is unironically the class system and even that is hardly exciting anymore because it's essentially just a bunch of predetermined builds.

i dont understand how people can even enjoy it. i guess it's fun because you can just shut your brain off entirely or you can play with your buddy as a killer. that's about it.

i wouldnt mind the queues if the gamemode itself was even moderately appealing to me and that's can't be further from truth

i really hope BHVR create something more exciting later. 5x5 with capture point tug of war with killer+survivors team sounded way more exciting and it's sad they are not exploring that first.

I prefer competitive stuff as well.
I only play evt modifiers to complete it's tome for additional BP and that's it.
The only one I play non-stop is the anniversary because, guess what, huge BP bonuses.

    @jmwjmw27 said:

The opportunity to play killer with a friend is rare enough and most people I know wouldn't play DBD under any other condition, so I am more than happy to sacrifice the normal mode queue times.

Ever since I've started playing DbD I always wanted to play killer with a friend and when it finally happens you don't have all killers available.
The licensed content is what hooked me and I refuse that my first time playing killer with a buddy will be with original killers.
I'm only playing for the surv and "hybrid" challenges and that's it.
A little bit more maybe because now I can play as my new surv main Alucard.

I could also play it to farm BP (need my Dracula and Alucard p100 ASAP), but I doubt they will let us use our BP offerings in this mode (again).

I wouldn't mind 2v8 coming back if it wasn't for the huge impact it'll have on the normal queue forcing me to play against bots once a week just to not get rusted.

This whole change will break so so so many things:

    • Mors Ambitio Dailies
    • Kill With Your Own Hands challenges
    • The Mori Achievements, especially Blood in Your Mouth which won't be obtainable by majority of the cast now without the gamble of Devour Hope
    • The fun of Mori Photobombs
    • People who like to collect Moris
    • Making Tombstone Myers way more common and infinitely more obnoxious
    • No more sparing someone for hatch last minute
    • no more using Moris to deal with threats that could arise, like pallet saves or fast generator speeds

Nice, sanitized, and safe for Survivors, but now forces Killers to 4k slug if they want that sweet sweet Mori animation and removes counterplay and fun from the game.

    Nobody wants this.

Everything you mention will indeed be affected, but I think the last one is the biggest and most important.

  • What is making me fore pissed is it seems they did something to the BP incentives.
Since last Tuesday any side is not getting 100% even on usual times of the day.
Seems they split it between Light's Out and the normal queue.

  • Finisher Mori is ass.
Just turn the yellow basekit and THAT'S IT!

  • @merri1400 said:

We need to keep pushing that the system the way it is now is perfectly fine, a lot of survivors even enjoy certain moris (especially Ghostface) or wish killers would get oooler ones. Turning them into a one time deal after a survivor stomping is what is going to breed resentment because people will feel more inclined to slug to see it, whether simply because they want to use it without bringing a certain killer or because they put on a challenge.

I'm doing everything I can for this crappy Finisher Mori to never see the light of day.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

It's not an additional effect, it's a new effect. That means the mori offerings won't actually be mori's. It'll just give you bonus BP once you mori the 4th survivor. That means there will only be one possibility of ever doing a mori every match, and that's after there's no longer any threats against the killer.

    Exactly!
    Moris are threat eliminators! S2

  • I really don't want to force a 4K in every match to make survs so miserable that they will stop playing.

  • I still can't see why is so difficult to think the obvious.
Just make yellow mori basekit. DONE!

NOBODY wants this change, even surv mains!

  • I hate the original RE4, but love the remake.
I too want this outfit for my Ada as well the RE4 Remake outfit for Wesker (best damn design CAPCOM did for him)

  • It's always the same story.
The issue is that people these days are used to resolve things by crying, so instead of learning how to counter the new killer survs will cry for a nerf.

And as I always said we too would have killer players crying if survs were not just skins.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799271#Comment_3799271

I don't think it'd matter. We voiced our opinions on this issue a LONG time ago, and they are absolutely obsessed with pushing it through despite it being an incredibly unpopular "feature".

I mean they wanted us to buy that crap about the seven years bug that supposedly was making the killer not look down after a M1 and after we voiced that we don't wanted that specially because of motion sickness…
Well, I hope killers slug A LOT for the Finisher Mori and survs stop playing because matches will be a miserable experience.

  • Can we get a moderator here please?
    Maybe Mandy?

  • @doobiedo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3798276#Comment_3798276

But it's bad for survivors too because it will encourage even more slugging for the 4k. It's just bad all around in every way. Did Bhvr ever actually give a reason for this change?

I too think this is bad for survs for this exact reason.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

I don't understand why the change. It's a completely unwarranted and unnecessary nerf. Iri mori was super handy to use against bully squads with all flashlights, flashbangs, powerstruggle, and so on. If you managed to get someone on deathhook, downing them is a secured kill that would otherwise just get powerstruggled or flashbanged. With this, now you could only Mori the last person which already isn't at risk at a save.

They should keep the iri mori exactly as-is.

    Exactly.
This is a straightforward killer nerf.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

I like the idea of the new mori personally, makes the end of a match have more of a celebration as a killer player. I feel Moris are used outside of their designed intention as OP admits to. They are meant to be a reward from the Entity to kill by your own hand.

You can be damn sure killers will slug MUCH MORE to get this mori.
I'll do that only to annoy survs SO MUCH that their cries will make BHVR revert this crap and I expect my fellow killer friends do the same to me.

  • What makes me mad about this is that she's being gutted by two reasons.

1-Lack of information in-game: her power never mentions the counter to drones (be still or walk crouching)
2-Survs being too lazy to go online and search for info on how to counter her, which would be a minor problem if the first didn't existed.

  • I'm still not gonna be mad because it's PTB and because I have a much greater concern: the stupid update on Moris.

  • I was expecting to see a punishment when this bastard misses a chainsaw attack.
    He will still have NONE.

He is not like Wesker that can be heavy punished if he misses the second dash. Billy simply chooses to stop the dash next to the surv and he and almost instantly start another insta-down attack.

I'm so sick and tired of doing gens, getting saves and the last survivior just rats me out.

I literally went across the map to help someone and they pointed the killer to me?!

Also, don't give crap that "well your not taking heat" WHY WOULD I RUN INFRONT OF THE KILLER WHEN IM THE ONLY ONE DOING GENS?!

I literally might aswell load in with a key and sit at the edge because doing gens and saves obviously doesn't get me anywhere 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I never camped outside EGC even before the Anti Camping being introduced, so I really don't like my fellow killer players when they do so.
To be completely honest I only "camp" if the survs screw up and the poor hanging bastard is about to go another stage in, like, 10 seconds. Part of the job of the killer is punishing survs mistakes.

Anyway, we were in Hawkings (killer forced it) and the Mirror Myers decided to camp with 2 gens up.
I tried to rescue the Ada, screwed up and fell like a bag of potatoes. In the end everybody escaped. I've stayed behind in one gate just to make sure a Jill escaped through the other gate and when I had sure Myers appeared in my gate, I T-Bag him just because I hate campers and then I get called a toxic and skill-less surv by the damn Ada that was being camped.
From this day I simply work together with the other survs until I'm at the gate and when I am I simply leave.
I even had Hope in my build just to help in End Game saves. Not anymore.

  • Vecna have the anniversary power to block pallets with the Iri Book.
My friend is maining him and is having too damn good laughs with survs trying to vault while the damn thing is blocked.

  • Grabs.
    I still need 2.
    Only trophy/achievement/whatever I'm missing.

Devs should really change crows so you can't ignore them so easily.

I think it's borderline impossible that they make this crap more powerful than it's already is, so it must be a nerf or rework.
Said the same thing about Adrenaline and was happy they just removed the heal on hook thing. It was pretty damn stupid it had this effect.

It was indeed a compliment. :)
Cry because you can't use anymore something that wasn't intended (and thus stopping you from gaining an advantage) is exactly my opinion as well.

Ha ha I know, it's just that sometimes during the heat of a chase or when i discover a survivor in batform, I press the wrong button and I get punished

He just received a buff today.
Shapeshift cooldown reduced by HALF (it was 5s and now is 2,5s).
This is probably to mitigate this issue (transforming into the wrong form in the heat of the hunt).

ersonally idk anything about Castlevania but obviously understand who Dracula is in general. With that said, I only bought the DLC this week cause I wanted to try Trevor's perks but don't care for him as a survivor or his design, same goes for Dracula.

from my experience, Castlevania is not something that has ever came up in conversation, mention or just in general irl - like I've just never heard or seen anything about it. I have to imagine it's a niche interest and not mainstream like say Halloween or Stranger Things are.

I'm sure some dbd players were excited but there's probably a larger majority that didn't care one way or the other. Yay, new characters and perks but who cares about the license type of thing. That's my guess though

Konami is the one to blame for this.
Castlevania is stucked in a limbo for more than a decade now. :(

It's awesome that DbD and Castlevania got a collab, but now we need a Castlevania collab with Castlevania.

I really enjoy both default Dracula and Trevor, can't wait for the bloody versions

Alucard is nice but I enjoy more Trevor and his high boots (also when are the bloody parts coming for legendary surv ?)

As a controller player on PC, the bounce attack with the wolf is kinda difficult, I sometimes miss even at point blank lmao

And sometimes I screw up with the buttons, I wanna shift from batform to wolf worm and instead i shift to default or the other way around^^

But overall, Dracula is pretty good to play, I enjoy Dark Devotion or Unforeseen on wolf form, I've never had this much grabs from generators before^^

My biggest regret is no Castlevania map :/

Changing forms is easy if you remember this: if you're Bat or Wolf the other animal form will be always LT/L2 and Vampire RT/R2.

because people want to play using bugs

I mean, they can just let him slide by default... Bug makes him actually decent.

Wolf is going to be quite weak after they "fix" him imo.

If this would become a feature (which will probably not) I would have no complaints.
Wolf for me is pretty good to gain distance and the pounce works like a weaker version of Wesker's power, so I'm pretty familiar on how to make it work on loops. :)
Since the Bat can't see blood and the damn noise is too loud for the Dracula player I avoid using it to track survs mid chase because I could end up losing them for some of their shenanigans. :P

That's why you don't aim directly at the survivor the entire time. You aim a little bit away from them, then flick & click in one motion. I dunno how that feels on MnK but to me it feels perfect on controller.

OR you do what I do with Wesker.
Wait for the surv to pass on the center of the screen (because they'll keep running sideways to try to avoid the power like when you hit a cockroach with bug spray) and then BAM! You fire!

  • @UndeddJester said:

I've seen a lot of Dracula's myself, but barring a few examples of cracked players day 1, they tend to get smashed... myself included.

He is quite tricky to play, and not very prosperous for casual play. He seems quite inaccessible on console, I've not had this much trouble getting going with a killer on console since Deathslinger before all his buffs. Like you can do things, but its very easy to miss... and 1 miss quickly turns into 2, turns into 3, and before you know it you're losing the game.

Hug tech being removed likely means PC players will be not much better off than me and struggle too unless they're cracked.

My evidence is purely anecdotal, but I've not seen more than 2k on Dracula 80% of the time.

Have to agree that indeed he's not for casuals.
I play on PC with a controller. It's a shame characters being ignored because people want to play using bugs :(

    @[Deleted User] said:

Hellfire could be less cluncky and have the option to flick it

Please no, it's actually one of the best feeling powers on controller because it comes out instantly. It just requires a different type of flick.

If they want to give it a camera lock or something sure. But the last thing it needs is to feel like Nemesis/Xeno/Huntress etc.

I mean you can sort of flick the wolf's pounce and it helps A LOT to get hits.
Would be awesome if Hellfire could do the same thing. I keep casting it and when a surv dodges it my reflexes makes the camera follow them to no use XD.

He's my new co-main with Wesker.
Love these guys so much to pick up just one of them. :)
Playing him like crazy now because I want to improve.

Not necessarily. You can also look for some clips/yt of Spitz who so happens to pretty much live right next to the Frankfurt servers, given is sub-15-ms-ping. The things he can do vs anyone not having that ping are pretty insane - especially if the killer has somewhat decent ping as well. The reverse is also true, though; if you have (some) ping and the killer does (and the frequency with which I get matched with killers on a different continent is…. baffling. There's a few people I know on NA servers and sometimes get them randomly as a killer and am like "#########?! - You VPN-ing cause it's the wrong time of day for Qs where you are?" "Nope." "bruh.")

Long story short: Once it comes down to being a reaction/timing issue it also always is a ping issue.

There is one thing that happens to me sometimes though; the "space" prompt around pallets is a bit weird and there are positions where it visually looks like you should be able to drop the pallet - but you don't actually have the prompt, so you can't. If that's what's getting you I'd recommend a) enabling an input tracker so you know exactly when you press spacebar and b) recording your screen at very high fps and then playing that moment back and check more or less frame by frame if you pressing spacebar and you having the prompt lines up.

I'll try to look into this input stuff and the angle that I look at the pallet for sure.
    Thanks for the tip! o/

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/426335/how-do-i-drop-pallets

@BurnedTerrormisu and @Halloulle pretty much explained it—it’s ping related. Basically when the killer is about to swing and you’re at the pallet, if you try to drop it while they’re engaging in the swing (as in reared back) the server is going to prioritize their hit—the swing is a part of the hit—via hit validation if their ping is higher than or equal to yours. If their ping is lower you will typically get the stun. It’s not you lacking the skill to time the stun, it’s that BHVR’s servers prioritize hits on the killer’s side.

I don't feel that bad now about missing a lot of these then. XD
    Thanks man.

  • @BurnedTerrormisu said:

If you watch Hens, JRM or Ayrun you see they also can't drop the pallets at random times. Or the killer hits you, gets teleported to your side and then gets stunned.

    It's simply a server issue.

Makes sense, but with me it happens so often that it has to be a skill issue XD.

  • @arthurrz said:

This question is not stupid at all! I'm a main survivor, I don't stop running to drop the pallet, my recommendarion to you is: chance the buttons to drop/actions buttons. This helped me! The style of the gameplay needs to be comfortable for you.

    @[Deleted User] said:

Fellow 36er. You can do a ton on survivor with game sense and check spots. There are some good guides on youtube about survivor check spots, and they'll honestly make you a better killer too. I tend to play safer in chase because like you said, not going to consistently win 50/50s against kids hopped up on Red Bulls.

As for dropping pallets, I'd double check your keybinds. If the keybinds are ok, it might be a timing issue. You don't have to let go of the run button. One tip: make sure your primary action button is separate from your secondary action button. They overlap by default on controller.

    Thanks for the tips guys!
-A friend once told me that you need to let go of the Run button. Will stop doing that ASAP!
-The buttons were one of the first things I fixed since in every game I play I see ALL the options available before starting and noticed two actions mapped to the same button, which makes me mad that we can't do the same as killer.
-Check spots is something I recently learned and it indeed make a huge difference.

    @Sngfun said:

Play M1 killers to judge the distancie from which you will be hit, and choosing when to greed or drop depending on the state of the game.

Also you have increased dropping range when walking and NOT running, use it to pallet vacuum if you want a stun.

Lastly identify if the killer you are playing against is weaker against stuns or dropped pallets and act accordingly.

I played A LOT of Skull Merchant in the anniversary to farm BP and it indeed gave me some new perspective about M1, like if a surv and a killer are each on one side of the pallet you can quickly lunge and the result of this "stand off" will be a hit for the killer in most occasions and in others they both will hit each other.

So what my friend said is indeed true. There's a difference between drop while standing and running. Pallet vacuum is indeed a thing then.

    Thanks for the tips. :)

I mean I'm kind of generally indifferent to Hug Tech at this point. I was fine with it being in the game, and I was able to counter it well, but I won't lose sleep over it being gone.

CJ techs are fine too, they're very easy to counter. Yes, even locker CJs.

People finding different, unexpected interactions is just a thing that happens in video games. In a lot of cases it opens up more dynamic gameplay.

If you want to go far back, looping wasn't actually the original intended gameplay style. It was invented. It was a "tech", some people considered it an exploit. You were meant to break chase and hide as soon as possible.

Just because something isn't necessarily intended from the get go doesn't automatically make it a bad thing.

    Indeed.
Combos in Street Fighter II were also a bug that became a feature.
TL;DR: if the developer company adopts it, then I'll have no complaints. Great things are discovered/created by accident.

  • I bet you cried when they removed Blight's Hug Tech.
Every tech in this game is a damn bug being exploited. You are using something that's not intended to get an advantage, which is not different than cheating.
There are even techs that are not bugs, but are an exploit of some failure like CJ Tech which is literally only possible because killers can't map scenario interactions in one button and surv/gens interactions to another like survs can.

"But techs are skill expression and bla, bla, bla".
I'm not gonna start talking about this pathetic excuse.

Just to be clear, I do agree with you. But some people are pulling the "it's the 3rd time, it has to be intended" card. I just thought this would be a quick and easy way to have an official indisputable answer.

Well… if we go by this "it's the third time" card the game would be literally unplayable because tons of bugs keep coming back from time to time like the floating survs when Wesker grabs them.

  • It's another stupid bug that people will exploit and call it "tech" to justify their wins exploiting that.

  • My list is pretty big. Basically 2/3 of BHVR original killers are either annoying (Legion), too damn braindead (Wraith and also Legion), crappy concept (Trickster, Dredge, Twins) or a freak that shouldn't exist (Nurse, Plague).
These are just examples because, as I've said, 2/3 of the original killers fall in one of these categories for me.

The other 1/3 and all licensed killers I don't have any complaints.

  • Have to go with OP here.

Allow only self unhook by the anti-face camping or Deliverance and give a prompt for the surv on 2nd phase to kill themselves while there's already two other survs dead.

    Worst map EVER!
