How is that unhealthy?
If someone dc-ed in a spur of the moment rage, then the dc penalty gives them time to cool off.
If someone dc-ed just because the game crashed, that's why the dc penalty is very short to start.
If someone is consistently dc-ing because of crashes, the dc penalty gives them time to find what's wrong with their internet. After all, bhvr turns the dc penalty off when the server issues are consistent on their end.
And if someone is consistently rage-quitting to the point where the DC penalty builds up to anything over 10 minutes, at that point the penalty is just preventing them from playing a game they clearly aren't enjoying anyway, while keeping them from ruining games with people who actually have enough of a spine to see a match to the end
the main majority of reasons you’ve listed there are either harmless or out of player control. If you wanna advocate for a dc penalty system you would actually have to make it so it gives penalties for the right or legitimate reasons. But then again none of these matter when you can just die on hook or still find ways to get out early or make the game miserable during a match. It’s this notion of no matter what reasoning if you leave our game then tough titty have fun not playing for god knows how long.

Most players do care about their Bloodpoints, as most haven't unlocked anywhere near everything, and that can be why some don't instantly give up when others ditch their team.
find it hard to believe maybe like 10k extra bloodpoints is worth sitting through misery for lol. And with the fact that pips aren’t removed anymore there is generally no reason to stay in matches currently

I've seen significantly fewer DCs in Chaos Shuffle compared to regular games. Specifically; zero. No DCs in over 2 weeks.
Dc penalties have been disabled in the past, usually when there's some kind of server issue . Every time this happens, the game goes to #########. Someone DCs virtually every game and it becomes unplayable.
We don't need to theorise, it's been done, we know what happens.
No DC penalty = significantly worse game.
There is nothing to debate.
the game is worse with dc penalties, they don’t work or function right and have several loopholes that make them redundant. The game has major amounts of issue and unfair content that need ironing out to incentivise players to not want to dc. The notion that you should instead just tell players to piss off is not by any means a better substitute than simply letting players leave miserable matches. Everyone’s guilty at some point of doing this and you’d be lying to say you haven’t dc’d over something minor. I’ve had matches in chaos where survivors will dc instantly at the sound of victor or cause they got downed first, people still dc often and I don’t cry or complain because nothing is lost and the match will continue or I’ll simply queue up again. Dcing would only impact you if something was lost but with DBD having no such thing unless you really love he bloodpoints then ur simply wrong

eh, it's not hard or even complicated, just remove self unhook and skillchecks, done, no one gets hurt and game balance will not change in slightest
There is nothing special in doing this, pretty sure BHVR will break everything anyway though
so you want them to remove the perks like deliverance and slippery meat? To remove the luck modifiers as they are primarily used for unhooking? If you can’t unhook yourself do you just have to sit on a hook for five minutes while you bleed out? lol. The features fine as is you just simply can’t control what the players are going to do with it

yeah but you know what is not fun? loosing. thats just a fact and i know there are people who claim they dont care if they win or if they loose as long as its fun but that is not the majority of the poeple.
what i discribet will 100% happen without dc penality and we have already seen this. every time the penality was off in the past people just left the game for whatever reason they liked.
people leave for any reason with the penalty, it has loopholes and the games generally problematic in places enough to warrant doing so. I’d understand if anything was lost in a match that matters via dcing but nothing is. It’s just a simple case of moving on and queueing again. I’m never personally annoyed from a dc it’s just more funny honestly and I don’t mind at all

The history of this game and how people tend to interact with are in direct opposition with this line of thinking.
Before the game had DC penalties the rate of DCing was so high that at times it functionally broke matchmaking times. Anytime after the addition of the penalty where the devs have needed to turn it off for bit there were huge spikes in DCs. Believe it or not people are more inclined to at least attempt to play things out when the threat of escalating penalty is in play. Literally the community of this game proves that when given benefit of the doubt they will turn around and abuse it.
It's why you get an overly strict chat filter and dc penalties because folks simply can't be trusted to not be the worst version of themselves when playing dbd.
and the players will be acting this way based on the state of the game. If the game is generally broken or has a lot of unfun elements that aren’t fun to go against that cause dcing en masse then that’s the issue. Sure you’ll never be able to fully stop rage quitters or petty people but buy fixing the issues and giving incentive to the games matches you’ll provide a healthy and natural reason for people to stay. The removal of pip removal has only done more damage as people don’t have to worry about there rank now when dcing, giving them more incentive to dc to bad or unfun matches.
as for chat I’ve never been a fan of restrictions of any kind, you don’t have to use it and there is a report function if you get overly butthurt but I’m all for people saying what they want. -

If something that is a key part of the game's formula is enough to make you DC, you shouldn't be playing.
Also what you say can also apply to my argument as well. You're not having fun with whats happening in the game, tolerate it or dip but don't be surprised when the game penalizes you for ruining the game for four other people.
nothing is ruined, there’d have to be some form of incentive for the matches that could be interpreted and ruined to begin with. Unless ur that crazy for bloodpoints it’s just a simple case of queuing next with nothing of value lost.

Yeah that's the issue. Fixing the things that make people DC sounds good on paper until you realize that includes but is not limited to:
- Going down/being hooked/being found first.
- Going down/being hooked/being found AT ALL.
- Getting a map they don't like.
- Going against a killer they don't like.
- A gen getting done too fast.
- A hex totem getting cleansed too fast.
- Getting flashlight or pallet saved.
- When the killer brings a mori
- Someone bringing perks they don't like. (And contrary to what seems to be popular belief, OP or broken perks are not the only perks people DC against. I've seen DCs because of No mither, flashbang, lightborn, franklin's demise, BBQ, Ruin, Dragon's Grip, Trail of torment, Haunted grounds, Blast Mine and Dramaturgy).
People are not DC-ing because a match is miserable, they are DC-ing the moment the game looks like it MIGHT go south. Now lets talk about what you said about fixing the reasons people DC. Not including 8 and 9, all the reasons I listed are just part of the game. The game or mechanic is built around those features. You cannot fix why people are DC-ing when the reason they're DC-ing is a built-in, core aspect of the game or (in totems' and pallet/flashlights' case) mechanic.
ok and my point still stands this doesn’t change anything. Fun is subjective and when you’ve designed ur game to only cater towards fun, if fun isn’t being had people will leave. There is no incentive for people to not leave for the many reasons you’ve listed and surely many more. There is nothing to earn or work towards so I’ll play the game for fun, if it isn’t fun you either tolerate it or dip its that simple. What ur suggesting would only apply to a game that actually had some form of incentive like a ranked mode but this is an asymmetrical party game.

"it happens with or without them so that means little."
That is factually a false statement. I'm not sure how long you've been around but we had a time where they tested bringing them down to see what would happen. It was chaos. The DC rate skyrocketed. So no, it does not happen with or without them. It does indeed have a substantially impact on DC rates by having a DC penalty.
"There is no way to stop players who adamantly don’t want to play"
If they adamantly don't want to play then they shouldn't be queuing up in the first place. People will stop DC'ing if each DC makes them waste hours of their day in queue."Locking players in a match they don’t want to be in is not a good
substitute and they’ll still find ways to make the match worse or to get
out early"The point is to limit those ways to get out of the match early to things that waste substantial amount of their time to discourage it. Again, if trying to get out early makes them waste hours of their time they will stop.
"DBD is more of a party game especially consider the popularity of the
new mode where seemingly most don’t like or are sick of the meta and
competitive nature some are trying to take the game."DBD isn't the temporary chaos shuffle game mode. It's the actual normal game. So referencing chaos mode as proof of it being a party game does not make sense. The normal DBD game is more of a competitive game than a party game.
"If you want to keep people playing you need to add incentive not add more reasons to leave or just not be allowed to play."
You are never going to make everyone happy. If they want to keep people playing they need to address the entitled people that are ruining the games for the rest the player base.
I played during the time they did remove the dc penalties and it was much better experience if anything. Not to mention I saw very little change compared to how it normally was or is now honestly. Obviously everyone has different experiences but I’m not gonna cry cause I lost out on 20k extra bp and simply queue again as nothing is lost when a match ends that matters.
It’s just a fact you can’t know or will queue for a match that’s going to be miserable. DBD is full of unfair and broken stuff which is out of player control. You can’t expect people to not play entirely cause a small portion of the game is a problem as the game would die out. You legitimately can’t stop people from leaving a match or ruining it in a multitude of ways and this isn’t just a DBD issue.
The only real solution that’s plausible would be a surrender button otherwise with how DBD is you can still find easy loopholes to get out early. The dc penalty can easily be passed so it’s currently serving little purpose but to annoy us with inconsistent WiFi
I pointed to chaos as it’s incredibly popular and reflects on the base game. People myself included generally do not want to go back to the boring meta and sweat fest the game can be. Running the same five builds just to do anything isn’t fun and the game modes breathed fresh air into the game. It’s an asymmetrical game so by nature it’s never going to be balanced enough for anything competitive without a stupid amount of restrictions.
It’s not even about making people happy it’s about making them want to stay, that there time is being valued to the point where sitting through the miserable stuff is also rewarded, to work towards something. With someone with thousands of hours bloodpoints are no longer an incentive and rift/archive is paywalled. People currently only have no major incentive to stay other than fun if they aren’t having fun they’ll just leave you can’t stop that apparent from addressing the actual issue of why are these players leaving and unsatisfied

You can wait for changes while also not wasting your own time queueing up for games that you just quit out of anyways. But there's always the case that what dbd is and what you want dbd to be are not going to happen.
sure the games not going to be 100% to mine or anyone’s liking and I’m not asking nor wanting it to be. But considering to can take months for them to fix minor or major issues of balance or broken game features and assists, you'd be waiting potentially years lol

The fact it's already happening is why it needs more restrictions. You can legitimately stop people. Heavier DC penalties and the inability to remove yourself will drop the DC and removal rates massively as it will waste significantly more amounts of their time if they want to do it. DBD is not a casual/party game.
We want to de incentivize ruining the game for other people. If someone thinks they need to DC or remove themselves that often then DBD probably isn't the game for them.
it happens with or without them so that means little. There is no way to stop players who adamantly don’t want to play the devs even state this themselves in the patch notes addressing face camping changes. Locking players in a match they don’t want to be in is not a good substitute and they’ll still find ways to make the match worse or to get out early. DBD is more of a party game especially consider the popularity of the new mode where seemingly most don’t like or are sick of the meta and competitive nature some are trying to take the game.

If the game isn't fun, then don't queue up.
Counterpoint how about the game gets changed and fixed so it is fun? Or maybe add stuff to work towards or provide incentives for actually playing that aren’t paywalled? The game can be fun that’s why a lot of us tolerate it’s glaring list of issues

There were times where they disabled DC penalties for various reasons. During those times survivors would DC if you so much as looked in their direction. In other words, the penalty is doing something.
I’ve just today had a match where three of the four survivors dc’ed to the sound of victor at the start of the match lol. People still dc for dumb reasons all the time. I played when they did remove the penalties one time and it was fine honestly, saw very little difference

@Blueberry said:
This would be a disaster for the game. We need heavier DC punishments and to remove the ability to remove yourself on hook.
How if it’s already happening currently? People dc often over anything and you legitimately can’t stop people from doing so. I’d understand if there was a ranked mode or something but it’s an extremely casual game, if ur not having fun you dip

im pretty sure without the penality the game would slowly die.
why should anyone play a game to the end? you say yourself bp are not a motivation so why should i ever keep playing a round where i am about to loose? and if i am winning that means the other side is loosing so they will just dc.
the majority of the matches would just end in a dc the second one side beginns to loose.
kinda remindes me how yugioh is played today. whoever fails to get his combo out looses so you end the match right there to not waste time
the only motivation for playing the game is fun and if the game isn’t fun in areas people will dc it’s that’s simple. There is nothing to work towards and the small stuff that is, is all paywalled so the main majority of players will play for fun. And when the games got copious amount of issues from bad map design, bad killer design, bad perk design, broken jank and bhvr’s seemingly lack of what knowing what to do with the game is showing. The dc penalty does nothing, there are loopholes and you can’t force someone who legitimately wants to leave to stay. Considering nothing is lost now when a match ends with the removal of pip removal it serves no purpose but to make the experience worse on top of the other factors
-
Well It’s unfortunately true and bhvr haven’t helped by removing pip removal so there is even more insensitive to just dip from games now. The game for the majority is fine but there is tons of constant changes and content that is generally just unfun or badly designed, broken. Those are issues that should be addressed not telling players to piss off of they don’t like it. You have to remember maps like eyerie exists and skull merchant etc so much unfun or unfair game design you tolerate to get to the good stuff

Sounds more like you are d/cing and getting annoyed there's a penalty to rage quitting. If you don't enjoy the game as it is win or lose, then why are you still playing?
I’ve had 24 survivors dc on me tonight alone on the chaos randomiser. It clearly doesn’t work from my experience. And when I do get hit with a penalty it’ll 9/10 be because of my internet if anything which is not its intended purpose.

If you're dodging and getting disconnected enough for the penalty to ramp up, you need to ask yourself if you are both willing and able to play the game. I'm currently on an extended break due to my internet being unreliable, So I just don't play until I get that resolved. And you're right people do DC, and they get hit with the penalty like they're supposed to because they ruined the game for 4 other people. Its literally the digital equivalent of taking your ball and going home.
nothing is being ruined, there is no insensitive or nothing lost when a match ends. Sure you can play for wins but they mean nothing other than bloodpoints which are mostly pointless. It’s a flawed system that only really impacts people for a multitude of the wrong reasons.
-
@Crowman said:
There's significantly less DCs around when penalties are active compared to when they aren't. If anything, suiciding on hook needs a penalty, because it's been shown that penalties on rage quitting do reduce that behavior.
If you find yourself rage quitting games often that having a penalty is a problem, you need to figure out if you actually enjoy playing DBD.
this is false, dc’s have seemingly risen again recently and people are even dcing in droves on the chaos game mode. The game has a lot of frustrating elements, generally broken things and legitimately bad map, perk and killer designs that make complete sense why players can often be frustrated. The system just flat out doesn’t work and has several loopholes so it’s ultimately pointless. There would be little to no effect if it was removed

My internet cuts out quite a bit and I’ve never seen a penalty over 5 minutes. If you are being banned for days then you’ve DCed a lot more than just once in 24 hours.
From what I can find, the DC penalty increases 1 level every time you DC and goes down 1 level every 24 hours. To get day long bans, you have to have DCed a lot in that time. I think a 24 hour ban is like 5-7 times or something, so if it is multiple days then you are DCing a LOT.
Just don’t play for a couple days and your penalty will reset back to zero and a single internet cut out will only be a minute long ban.
the issue is everyday for about a week I’d have sometimes upwards of 20 games a day which are completely fine but then one single match where my internet cuts out and will forcibly disconnect me from the host. So I’d get the penalty and try again the next day, have a ton of fine matches then one single match breaks again and the penalty gets higher and repeat. I know it probably comes off that I’ve been purposefully doing a lot to stack that but really it’s just cause I normally play the game daily and have had at least one match that breaks

It'd be nice if we had a minute or two of "reconnect" period
Realistically they have all the pieces to make this a thing. A bot could take over the killer or survivor until the person could reconnect. And then maybe the penalty would only apply if they didn’t rejoin before the match ended.

unfortunately, JPLongstreet is completely correct, the DC'ing was that bad…it was the whole reason we implemented the penalty in the first place.
even if this was correct it was poorly implemented. The criteria for the automation is far too strict. And the lack of any flexibility will always rub me the wrong way. you actively acknowledge the system will screw over people who aren’t abusing it but just don’t care cause if you did it would’ve already been adjusted. I’m locked out of this thing I’ve put soo much time and money into because the creators don’t want to adjust a flawed system. So I’ll probably just have to quit the game, not like I can play it anyway.

Each time the DC penalty system is off for whatever reason evil things happen. Every time.
Players in both roles proceed to DC at the slightest inconvenience, and games quickly get out of control. Don't like the map? Yeet. Don't like the killer? Yeet. First one found/hooked? Yeet. Head-on'd? Yeet. And the trials become unplayable, bots or no bots.
I feel you’re over exaggerating on this point. I also played during this period and it was not happening anywhere near as much as you imply it was. If anything people would only do it for nurses and stuff which is partially because nurse is unbalanced and unfair which is out of player control. And people would already do this sorta thing with dc penalties on anyway

@Mandy said:

It's actively monitored and checked.
Unfortunately there's no way for a system to tell a genuine DC from a player just manipulating their internet connection, they can just pull out the ethernet for example. So we have to treat disconnects with a blanket approach.
There are no plans to remove the DC penalty, when someone DC's it's still ruining the match for the 4 other players, a bot is not a full substitute, the bot is there to make it feel a little less bad for the players left in the match.
As harsh as it might sound, a stable internet connection is required to play online games.
I was informed by staff that it was not, that it was fully automated and you wouldn’t look into or review anything in regard to anything dc related. It does come off bad when you aren’t willing to even remotely look into stuff of this matter. It happened with the mass Cheater period and the several times the servers were legitimately playing up as well. You’ve removed the penalty system before and especially with the newer changes it would be fine.
I get you can’t control the player base as a whole but players can still get past the bots by dying on hook and the game just ends if the killer leaves. Nothing is lost to those who aren’t hit with a penalty and can easily queue up again. In fact you are planning to remove the de pip feature which would honestly if anything give more incentive for dcing if anything and less incentive to play. Not that ranks mean anything at the moment either since it only provides blood points.
At the very least an appeal system should be warranted. Stacking penalties to such a degree is harsher than any other online game I’ve played. DBD is the only game I at times legitimately can’t play for no fault of my own. I could have 30 completely fine matches but then I get one internet hiccup and booted out of a match and I’m banned for sometimes days. I’m not deliberately doing it and my internet isn’t so bad that it’s ruining tons of matches but you would never know this cause you don’t allow players to actually appeal even though it’s fully something you could do and implement as you have previously removed these penalties before.

@kaoraku said:
so then I should never queue up ever?
It is on you. If you know that your provider is that bad, then you can try. But if you get DC then you ruined the game for others. Maybe they did a challenge, or a streak, or an adept which is now ruined. It is not cheer them up that it is your provider when you knew that it could happen…
The problem is that you try to blur many things there. You are obviously angry for BHVR. I am too. Yes there is spaghetti code. Yes there are many broken things. Yes, there are many things what they should make for us.
Yet. You have to think out of the box. A game with thousands of players cannot work without automation. I do not say it couldn't be better. But it is at least something, and at least some of those who deserve the penalty will get some.
And honestly - if you get 2 days, then it is not something what happens rarely. You should then get another ISP or some other games.
there you go again with the whole just don’t bother playing routine. Sorry but I don’t work for my ISP so I can’t exactly control when they decide to go down but I guess I’ll have to get a job working with them so I can 100% make sure they have no issues in the future otherwise why should I have the right to play the game I payed for right? We all realistically know our providers could just have issues randomly and we can’t plan around that in the slightest. If you were going for an adept then you’ll just get it in another match, there is nothing being lost in a match closing you can easily queue again if you aren’t the one on the receiving end of the penalty.
It’s not that automation is always a bad thing it’s just they’ve never touched it since, it’s not monitored, it’s not looked into or checked it’s essentially been left to its own devices. Giving penalties to anyone based on some flimsy criteria. It shouldn’t give a penalty for disconnects that weren’t deliberate, only the deliberate leaving of a match via game input would be classified as a legitimate rage or purposefully leaving. There is very rarely going to be an instance of someone with absolute garbage internet trying to constantly get into matches and dc constantly it just doesn’t happen. Let’s say I play 20 matches one night and I suddenly get booted from just one because of some out of control issue then the penalty is still applied
-

Sure. But honeslty I think it is rare. I really rarely see random DC people in my games, they usually obviously do it because of rage. Especially when they even stay to shittalk at the endgame.
And sure, it is bad. But imagine that they have too few people to handle that playerbase (and even more couldn't get it work) to investigate every single DC penalty that it maybe a technical issue. It is the smaller loss for the mass. But of course I would be angry too if I got penalized for a week or something over something, which is not my fault.
I’m going to the frank the playebase is nowhere big enough to where this would be an issue. I get it’s what an 8 year old game at this point so maybe the staff team isn’t as large anymore but just deciding to ignore it entirely in favour of a system that doesn’t work and works blindfolded giving penalties to everyone isn’t it either. Considering bots are a thing I see it as a much less problem especially cause we often joke that the bots are often better than the player that left lol. And if the killer leaves which is rare honestly cause you’d already have to have some patience to play that mess of a role then the game just ends and you search for another, nothing of value being lost in the slightest as dbd is currently stagnant and you don’t really gain anything from matches outside bloodpoints.

If anything I’d be more frustrated that I physically can’t play for several days because as I said my internet has been playing up which at times is out of our control
Then you shouldn't que up. With all respect if you have technical issues then you shouldn't que to ruin the fun for others. Sure, the problem is out of your control. But even the devs said, if you have that serious technical problems that you get minutes or even more penalty because of it then you should stop playing before you fix it. (Or your ISP fix it)
Cause you guys are often picky when it comes to this issue as it’s seemingly ok to dc against a skull merchant for instance but it wouldn’t be for one of the reasons you stated yourself.
"You guys"? You are one of us. Also I didn't mentioned that it is ok to DC against any killer. Also I am a killer main so I rarely have to face with a skullmerchant :) But in 7 years I dc-ed maybe 3 times (because of rage) and a few times because of technical issues.
The problem is that BHVR have to make a line. Maybe it is not perfect, but at least something. It was horrible and disgusting when everyone instantly DC against a certain killer, or for a situation, or just to give hatch for the last one unfairly in an SWF.
And of course, people still can kill themself on hook. That is the bigger issue I think, because they ruin the game for others, and not even get punished (because loosing a pip until now, and some offerings/addons is basicly nothing)
so then I should never queue up ever? My providers service going down at random intervals is quite literally the definition of out of my control. So I should never queue up cause there’s the slim chance my provider decides to be bad? Heaven forbid one single match is ruined even though you lose nothing and can queue up and be in another in less than 5 minutes. I don’t know if you have something for behaviour but I see no defence for creating and flawed automation system and then just not monitor it ever. Staff when asked about the automation never elaborate on it and don’t seem to care about it honestly. It works in tandem with Xbox’s flawed automation system in which you can get people banned from dbd and Xbox live through abusing it. It needs adjusting and no defence is justifiable especially not essentially telling people to go stuff themselves.
the problem with that is the line is blurred, reasons and circumstances aren’t taken into account. It’s apparently much easier to just throw out penalties than actually address why or how people are getting them. Nobody can deny that some things are just flat out unfair, flawed or legitimately broken in this game, it’s spaghetti code held together with duct tape and glue and when something is added something else breaks. It just seems we are never consistent on dc’s as a whole as some things are deemed fine to dc to and others aren’t. It don’t really see it being a solution to bolt people off the game and essentially tell them to get stuffed. Cause I assure you being banned for two days ain’t exactly filling me with positive vibes about the game lol.

The best way to stop this would be to actually incentivise people to stay in matches or fix the copious issues the game faces.
People in this game rage and cry for literally everything. You cannot fix all of them, because they most offen opposite of each other.
yes this happens in a lot of games, but those games normally have better systems in place to address the issues. DBD just smacks anyone and everyone with a dc penalty and calls it a day and you can’t appeal it cause they can’t be bothered since it’s automated. They can’t even be bothered to sort this issue out even when it is purely on their own end. During the blood moon event the servers problems and memory lag legitimately made it impossible for some people to play the game not because it was unplayable per se but because of the penalties you’d get. I’m not sitting here complaining because I raged and got a penalty, I’m comparing cause I got a several day penalty for something out of my control and have no means to rectify this other than to just accept it.

or the occasional rage
And that is the point where you should have a little brake. The penalty force you to take a brake. It is not good for you if you keep playing, and it is not good for the others who got left alone in the match.
if people want to leave they will and if people are leaving cause somethings unfair or unfun that’s on behaviour to fix if anything
People not only dc when it is unfair or it is unfun. Many people just DC because the enemy is better. They dc because they cannot bully them with flashlight. They DC because they cannot see anybody with lethal and such.
Since this is a 4v1 game if anybody throw the game on the survivor side, it is not fun for the others. Not even for the killer. If the killer drops it then the whole game is over (at least in this case it is fast).
And those, who do this should take a brake because it is not healthy for them to play on. Or they should be penalized for ruining the game for others over some hissy.
Honestly I would even punish those, who kill themself on the hook at 5 gens. And many times just because they was bad, they went down really fast, so they just leave. And many times even in these matches people can get to 2-1 gens. So if that one do not give up, they could actually win.
But if it only punished people who purely ragequit for petty reasons then fair enough but it doesn’t. The systems automated dbd staff don’t care to look into or address anyone’s specific dc penalty cases even if it was something out of your control or just some one time rage thing then you’ll still get punished. If anything I’d be more frustrated that I physically can’t play for several days because as I said my internet has been playing up which at times is out of our control. The match would end if it’s the killer dcing so you can easily and quickly search again and survivors now get bots which aren’t perfect sure but it’s a much better improvement than what we had.
People play games for their own enjoyment at the end of the day. I get the player base is weirdly toxic and petty at times but quite literally why would you deliberately subject yourself to something unfun like that? Cause you guys are often picky when it comes to this issue as it’s seemingly ok to dc against a skull merchant for instance but it wouldn’t be for one of the reasons you stated yourself. You’d be making assumptions on what others seem fun, honestly I’ve seen the community as having copious amount of sore winners who relish and enjoy people dcing, quite literally bully squads goals are to normally get some sort of reaction from the killer which could be argued isn’t healthy necessarily either. Not to mention a lot of the changes, bugs and legitimate server issues dbd has every patch make it really hard to enjoy the game at times and honestly gives me more sympathy seeing someone dc from something legitimately unfair. -

If anything the dc penalty has only stopped me from playing the game ... the occasional rage ( it happens lol)
That's the point. If you're tilted enough to ragequit, you need a timeout to stop you ruining other peoples games.
Them can clearly remove the penalties they did it for the Chinese new year event last year if I’m not mistaken and I saw no issue with that
Maybe you didn't, but everyone else did.
They have disabled DC penalties on multiple occasions, and every time the game became unplayable because there would be DCs virtually every single game. When players are given the option to quit for free instead of losing, why would they ever stick around to lose?
You’d have to be deliberately disingenuous to believe that nobody rages from games every now and then. Considering DBD has no competitive or rank system that affects gameplay it’s won’t affect the other players as they can easily search for another and the person who leaves already gets punished in de pips and loss of any items or offerings. In fact since they are removing de pips according to the latest patch notes there’s even less being lost. If there are generally aspects of the game as I stated that are unfun or unfair then that’s not the players fault that’s and issue that the devs need to address. The main reason skill merchants kill rate is so high is purely due to player dissatisfaction and dcing.
the system has been changed since that event and now bots replace players. Sure the bots aren’t perfect but players can still just kill themselves on hook to stop the team getting a bot it still happens often even without dc penalties. You can’t control the player base from leaving if they want to you really can’t. The best way to stop this would be to actually incentivise people to stay in matches or fix the copious issues the game faces. Players lose there own time, blood points, items, offerings, pips etc not that any of this really matters either as the only useful things stated above is blood points for leveling. -
@Mandy said:
I'm sorry but due to the way the DC penalty is in place we cannot make allowances for players who crash, it's still affecting the game for the other players left in the trial. And it also means that players could force a crash deliberately to avoid a penalty.
But what if it’s for legitimate reasons like currently the servers being unstable? I don’t see why people should be punished and unable to play the game because it’s in a poor state. The systems automation not just for this but the report function is flawed and can be abused anyway if people wanted to see I don’t see why it’s still a feature.

Not having trouble getting into matches but the matches atm often have bad connection and the occasional disconnects.

A bandaid way to mitigate the leaks is to restart the game every 3-4 matches I've found.
I haven’t tried this actually. The issue itself is seemingly random on which games are going to break though so I'm not sure it would work

Haven't DC, but I have noticed I'm getting some delay on skill checks which is really starting to annoy me.
There is currently some memory leak and for whatever reason the event stuff seems to be affecting overall performance . Seems to vary from platform though so it’s hard to gauge what’s causing any of the issues.

That sounds like an issue on your end, i've had a little bit higher latency but that's about it. If you get dc'd because servers time out you don't get a penalty as far as i know. I've also played for multiple hours a day for a few days in a row during the event.
It’s not I thought this at first as well thinking it was my internet but it’s has been like this consistently since the event started. It’s not just affecting me either sometimes entire games for everyone just break. I can’t even say it’s the servers tbh the game will just freeze and it’ll forcefully disconnect you from the match and you’ll get a penalty. This has apparently been happening to streamers and others as well.

Simple. When I played killer the first time, I had fun.
Still lost miserably and using hag as my first killer was a terrible choice.
But I had fun. So I kept at it until I stopped being a potato.
I would do what pulsar said, pick a simple to understand killer and get the basics down. Then find a killer you like.
Demogorgon is also very simple if you have it. But don't think too hard with portals initially. Just put them down near important stuff.
I wish I had demo he’s the only killer I don’t have lol. I think it started playing roughly just before wesker came out. I’m just struggling to bridge the gap of trying to keep going and not being frustrated about being a potato killer lol. It feels like a kick in the gut failing loops or mind games that killers I’ve played against would’ve done so easily. I do generally wanna get into the role though cause I’m a sucker for achievements and would definitely love having some of the killer ones cause I doubt I can get all of them lol

Playing survivor and playing killer are completely different. They both can help you get better at each role, but you have to have built some kind of experience first imo. Just treat playing killer as a brand new game separate from survivor now. Didn't you suck when you started playing survivor?
Yeah I guess that was my fault for going into it expecting it to be similar to looping as surviour just on the opposite side lol. I do have very little experience, I’ve p1’d every killer but I normally just play them when they release get them to p1 and never really touch them again lol
-
ive mostly been playing wesker cause he practice he feels and plays simple enough. I know he has hug techs and other stuff like that but I’m nowhere near anything like that yet. I’m just stuck for builds cause I’ve tried chase builds and I get genrushed normally, then I try gen defence builds and just get genrushed slightly slower lol.
I did also have a little success with trapper but I think that was purely because the surviours weren’t really looking out for traps. I’ll give wraith a try though and see how it feels
