Number one both spirits had mother daughter ring the scratch marks didnt matter. I was never panicked I was kinda mad and suprised as it was my second spirit in a row. The things you are suggesting em are guesses if I doubme vault it's me guessing she committed one way.

    It's all guesses.

Welcome to killer gameplay during jungle-gyms. it's mostly guesses and TRYING to throw off a person who has the advantage of third person cameras.

Oh, you failed to survive against [X] killer when they were using their best addons and a mori? I guess [X] killer is just totally unbeatable. Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude, but you need to understand that 3 examples do not constitute ironclad proof of anything. Your sample size is too small and is skewed by a killer that's stacking powerful addons/offerings (and shame on them for doing that). And as said above, even if you were right it wouldn't prove that Spirit was uncounterable, only that YOU can't counter her.

You haven't posted the vid, so I can't comment on it. Here's some tips on how to actually beat Spirit:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19fyTS63bQ4

Tru3's not my favorite streamer, but his advice here is on the mark. He's got a whole playlist of him outplaying Stridor Spirits that you can check out.

But my best advice if you want to get better at playing against Spirit, as always, is to try playing her. Learn how she works from the Killer's perspective and what the limits of her power are. I guarantee once you start seeing high-ranked survivors juking you you'll get a good idea of what to do when you next play against her.

We need a whole forum subsection for tru3's ######### hot-takes. I seriously hope that fogwhisperers don't have a say in gamedesign but then again I know that they do which is absolutely sad.

So 50 with Legion with no add-ons, and 50 with Hag no add-ons. That's a 100. If he does all 20 killers, That's 1000, but I know a bunch of the killer mains won't be satisfied. With realizing that it's really just them that are playing poorly and they need to level up. When I do lose I tend to look at myself and try to figure out what I did wrong, while others try to blame the game and perks etc.

Oh cool so killers just need to play the game as a job to be competitive against other people who play for fun. Gotcha.

  • @Pawcelot said:

Second chance perks are just too good to not be used. Its a situation BHVR themselves have put themselves in and now they have the problem that they cannot do anything about it, as the survivors would get loud. BHVR doesn't like it when survivors get loud, as they're the main revenue source. They must remain happy and content.

BHVR needs to fix camping and tunneling by making DS/BT actual anti-tunnel/camp PASSIVE abilities that every survivor has but in ofc a much more situational and weaker fashion and ofc that would require significant buffs to killer (for example seing survivorperks pregame)

  • @Nicholas said:

Which perk wins you the game exactly? You mean a five second stun that most Killers circumvent anyway? lol You don't wanna talk about equivalent perks because if Survivors had Killer perks, they would be very powerful. Things like reversing hook progress for merely completing a gen? It would be fun to think of some tho.

And what gives an extra hook state? At best DS prolongs the chase because it certainly doesn't give you an extra hook state let alone assure a getaway. Even with that five second stun, it is still extremely easy to continue tunneling thereafter. Which most killers do with great success! I otherwise agree with you, the game needs some base changes and imo a stronger in-game determent to tunneling so DS wouldn't be needed. Tunneling is currently too effective, powerful and easy (especially against people that go down fast) that it will continue to be the go-to for many if not most or more.

Wow, I'm not even gonna discuss with you, you seem to lack gameknowledge. "it's just a 5 second stun". No, it's an entire hookstate, without that 5 second stun you'd be on the hook, how is it hard to understand for survivors? Oh wait, because most of the ppl playing dbd are casuals who never gamed competitively before.

Pop goes the weasel takes 20 seconds of a gen, that's almost nothing when you think about the fact that a killer takes around 5-10seconds most of the time to do that action in the first place unless the gen is right on his way. A killer's time is WAY more precious than survivortime unless there's already dead survivors, 10 seconds of kicking a gen for 20 seconds regression is 30 seconds of 3 other survivors doing what they want. This being one of the best perks in the killer-meta says a ton about killerperks being underperforming when they should be far more powerful than individual survivor perks.

My opinions that all killers should actually be able to handle a sweat squad and not get bullied because "they arent spirit and nurse"? Face it for a killer to be viable right now they have to deny loops. Scott also said that when talking about killers. (And scotts a lot better of a source than tru3 so if you have a problem with me using him thats on you). If you disagree play a match against a red rank swf with every killer and see what happens with every killer but spirit/nurse and maybe freddy doc and ph. Youll notice what the ones that can actually do something have in common

Scott also said that those sweatsquats almost never happen, scott is also a guy who goes 30+ 4ks in a row with not only an unviable killer but also using a memebuild on him. Maybe look for info beyond your confirmation bias. The only thing this game needs is to close the gap between SWF and killer in terms of SOCIAL levels, in other words give the killer a way to be HUMANIZED by for example allowing pregame chat or ingame voicecoms for all or 8v2 etc etc.

The biggest problem that this game has is toxicity and that toxicity is multiplied by the fact that groupthink is amplified in an us vs them scenario with no communication in between.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1572684#Comment_1572684

I Mean spirit and nurse are the only 2 used in tourneys because they have that much power because a godly swf tournament team will be able to loop, outsmart, and rush gens. Thats why if they want to fix spirit theyll have to figure out what to do with swf as well because a good spirit/nurse are the only 2 that can handle that kind of a team. Scott even mentions it in his sweat squad video basically admitting if survivors play like that "its like their watching a cutscene of them winning". Tru3s not wrong when saying that spirits current power is necessary with how fast paced the game is now. If all killers are "viable" then why dont i see a michael or ghostface at the top level of tournaments?

You're bouncing between arguments, maybe instead of touting what a guy with a lack of understanding in the game says form your own opinion. The game isn't played competitively and it will never be (no, your ######### 5k dollar price private tournament doesn't count). Most people who play this game are casuals, even the ones who have 6000+ hours in this game are terrible gamers in total with only knowledge in DBD who would get crushed in any other competitive game. Most of the time if you're even considering yourself a gamer you will 4k as a killer even against all odds, now make the game "balanced" and all those casuals who are derping around with their friends will just leave because they will never escape against any semi decent killer.

DBD IS A PARTY GAME, get it in your head. Streamers are biased as ######### when it comes to this part because most of them play it for a livinhg and probably a lot of them already secretly hate it but depend on it for a living. (Heck, look at Monto who always tried to breach out to other games of this genre but they always failed)

  • @ReSpEcTtHe4PeRcEnT said:

Aren't the only players that defend The Spirit's kit mains of her?

I also don't think every killer should have counterplay, it's 1v4 a kiler needs to win a chase fast or the 80sec/gen is not justified. But saying "durr, she has counterplay if her controller ######### up" is just downright wrong

Her counterplay is hiding as with all killers who have a big TR/warning that they're coming.

Absolutely correct. Ever go into a match without an Obsession? I sometimes try this with friends and it is a disaster. Free reign to tunnel and insta-rehook people left and right. Not fun at all. At least with one DS, The Killer is often reluctant to grab people that quickly off the ground.

Oh great, so a perk wins you the game and that's totally fine and dandy. Where's the killer equivalent to this? NOED? Devour Hope?

Perks that give extra-hookstates should be brutally hard to activate and highly situational and limited to a one-time effect per GAME similar to haunted grounds with EASY and reasonable counterplay similar to make your choice. Yet here we are with DS's counterplay STILL being worth a perk on it's own (60 seconds of not getting picked up after a down would be strong in itself even with no stun) and Borrowed Time which honestly should only work against basement hooks.but then be buffed against stealthkillers and by helping the rescuer too.

I'd rather have them rework base gameplay issues through other means than dumb perks that end up being the meta forever since they refuse to fix ######### like camping while there's no other survivors around etc.

  • @oxygen said:

Well yes, for a long long time now gaming has become more and more of a social thing. Especially during the 7th console generation multiplayer was made way more accessible and important on the industry level.

You have the choice to not play with others yourself, seek out games with solo queue options or stick to singleplayer games, the facilitation of social play in gaming isn't going anywhere. The newest hot thing in this ongoing process is the implementation of crossplay in a lot of games to connect even more gamers to play with eachother. There's really no nicer way to put it, as it's not going anywhere, ever.

The thing is why are soloplayers put up against premades. Herd mentality makes this ######### a crappy experience as it's almost always premades ganging up on the solo in flamewars or ignoring him in teamplay scenarios.

  • @HectorBrando said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1571966#Comment_1571966

We are discussing why Survivor meta is stale and how it could be changed, please dont bring the usual "KILLER VS SURVIVORS" argument, we are not discussing Killers in this thread.

So how do you want perks that are better than what survivors already have? Because nothing beats having second chances.

  • @HectorBrando said:

You pretty much nailed everything, one of the biggest problems Survivors have with perks is most of them are very bad or too situational.

The last meta perk Survivors got is Dead Hard from Chapter 5 and we are at Chapter 17, sure there were some decent perks like Inner Strength or Deliverance but they are not good enough to displace the meta perks.

Tunneling being a massive advantage for the Killer makes DS very powerful which in turn makes slugging more prevalent which in turns makes Unbreakable also very powerful, its a vicious circle.

Every perk seems bad in comparison to perks that give basically what amounts to hookstates. Survivorperks are ridiculously OP considering there's 16 of them total in a team vs the 4 killerperks. I mean what comes close to DS? Haunted Grounds? NOED? an Unfound Devour Hope?

  • @ScottJund said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1570232#Comment_1570232

Yeah man that's literally DBD. Nitpicking tiny little decisions because they cascade into a ton of new scenarios where the game lasts a little bit longer. I have no idea if I could have stopped this and potentially could have made different mistakes, but it really seems like killers are allergic to learning from their mistakes and so they will never improve.

I'm so glad that this also applies to survivors.

Bad unhook? Both go down, luckily there's no perk that gives the survivors the choice of a late unhook with risk of the unhooked survivor being downed again if the killer was close.

Going down already 60 seconds after an unhook? Luckily there's no perk that alleviates this mistake.

And let's not forget the fact that survivors don't have anything to extend chases even if they ######### up, while killers have exhaustion perks that they can use multiple times in a game.

I'm so happy with one of the best killer perks taking away 20 seconds of a survivor objective, that's alot and it's not like survivors can pick themselves up 30% faster while slugged negating alot of killer pressure and luckily there's no perk that heals them after all gens are done.

This is why the killer meta is so stale, killerperks on average are FAR better than survivor perks as they should be because it's 4 perks vs 16.

If people are calling you "uneducated", you might want to look into addressing the issue?

Also, if you're jobless and willing to shell out 100 bucks a month on a game I don't think you have your priorities right. I'm saying this as someone who already bought all DLCs for DBD.

Basically telling me that "if I don't like being excluded maybe I should start to learn, read a book or something" is the same as telling me I'm uneducated. I live in germany so education is used ALOT as an insult.

I cant believe some people think this is a balanced game lol.

Okay putting someone in the basement isnt a mistake, its a not optimal play because its a risk you take to easily down the dude going for the rescue. You cannot really know how coordinated survivors are, because these devs dont alert you to SWF teams. SWF gets around 20 free perks from simply using Comms, thats absolutely busted broken and dumb.

It's obvious these devs have no idea what their doing. The nurse nerf was a perfect example of that. The developers weren't aware that players using wallhacks/ESP almost all picked nurse exclusively because of how much she benefited from wallhacks and didnt have to do loops. The cheaters would destroy the best teams including gen rushers, survivors would complain, and the devs gutted her making her unfun to play even by cheaters, so they all switched to Spirit (who also benefits a lot from them) and now the same thing is likely going to happen to Spirit.

It shows you they don't even have a clue about their game in general.

I never said the game was balanced but what ppl like you want is a dead game.

I'd simply be happy if I could play together with other killers in an 8v2 mode so the game doesn't feel so lonely, I don't need it to be balanced.

  • @Negitive said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/185669/stridor-spirit

    Bad Spirit.

The issue with spirit isn't that her power requires no skill, because it does, the issue lies with the fact that she has a very similar power level to the nurse with a MASSIVELY reduced skill requirement to reach that level.

Why play nurse when you could play spirit and get the same results for less effort?

because the nurse isn't a cointoss and way more reliable if you are godlike on her and on contrast to spirit the nurse has absolutely no counterplay except for the map itself.

You ignore that you should not be able to beat the killer 1v1 in the first place at these genspeeds.

  • Stridor is just a side effect of the sounds in this game being absolutely atrocious AND/OR not working at all.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

The only Streamer whose videos are constantly used on this forum as "evidence" is not good. What are you talking about?

And well, playing Killer just got easier and easier...

    And:

"The problem is, BHVR won't balance the game around the potential that good survivors have, because most survivors simply are very bad. "

If the Survivors are very bad, why do Killers struggle that much? Because they are not as good as they think they are?

Because being a good survivor amounts to being able to extend a chase to at least 20 seconds and splitting up on gens. Ofc it's a bit more nuanced but a single survivor making a mistake is not much, it just amounts to less optimal gens and the only hard mistake you can do as survivor is go down near others against snowballers.

Have you ever played one of those nice games where you could never efficiently slug somebody while survivors weren't dicking around and booked it as soon as you came near them? Good luck on those, even if you end each chase in less than 20 seconds all 5 gens will pop. Picking up Survs and hooking them takes so much damn time, it's the reason why you HAVE to slug against competent teams that focus on gens. Ofc those are rare and most people want to have fun by engaging with the killer.

  • @blackhat112 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1569498#Comment_1569498

I feel like you aren't really looking at this clearly.

Hooking someone in the basement, instead of on a nearby hook, to you and scott, is a MISTAKE? That is so silly man. Its a not-optimal play, not a mistake. Expecting a killer to know exactly what an enemy team will do is impossible, a big reason being these devs dont even let you know you're fighting SWF because of reasons. Non-swf players would rush down basement very often and itd be easy to capitalize on that normally, but he wasnt fighting a normal team.

Tru3 did make a few actual mistakes in that game, like swinging against sprint burst and that 1 fake-out, but aside from that no other real mistakes were made.

The reason the basement hooks didn't work were because the saves were coordinated perfectly and remaining near shack didn't work.

Just because you say it's not a mistake doesn't mean it's not a mistake. He made tons of dumb decisions (as usual btw since that guy isn't the brightest) and as you mentioned, against dumb survivors this would work. But against dumb survivors winning is not hard in the first place so why bank your gameplan around survivors that do stupid #########? It's why I take NOED personally, I will wreck ANY non optimal team and for the occasional good group that triggers endgame by rushing the crap out of gens I get NOED because I aknowledge that I'm no Umbra, No ScottJund and no Fungoose or Zubatlel. Tru3 should maybe start doing the same and change his gameplan accordingly.

You do realise that Marths Depip squad experiment was a long time ago right? In the meantime we had a truckload of changes to even the playing field. I admit we´re not quite there yet but the balance has changed so drastically the versions of now and back then are barely comparable anymore.

They could do the same thing again even more easily without the old ruin, yeah godloops were changed but they didn't excessively use them in the first place, the games were mostly over so quick that the amount of resources on the map are still way to many and irrelevant in the first place because the only killers that managed to "beat" them (one being scott here btw) didn't bother with getting looped in the first place and capitalized on their mistakes over trying to outplay them on loops.

Btw the experiment was PERKLESS and barebones. Survivors with perks have up to 4 more hookstates each if played perfectly but a minimum of 1.

Okay so i read what you said and il counter your points with my own.

0-10s: He probably wanted to come in at an angle to the shack anyway since he had monitor and not be out in the open.

1:20: 10 seconds wasted from the fake-out, and not accounting for how poorly the survivor played.

1:38: Its not really wasting much time taking survivors into the basement as killer even if you aren't 100% sure you will return, because it wastes the rescuers time as well having to go down and up it. And its always a good idea to do it because you dont know who is hanging around it. You cant really blame him for doing this.

1:58: How is this his fault, he didnt know what % the gens were at but he knew where a 60% done gen was so he kicked it down and prolly ended up reaching zero. But this is a bad play to you? I mean its not the best thing he couldve done, but this is hardly a mistake.

2:10-2:30 - He was getting his power with blood orbs.

2:34: How could he have gotten through the guy with BT? Besides standing their for 10 seconds and getting a slug that he cant pick up again because of DS? Its just BT is an overtuned perk which is why its run so much by survivors. Its not like he was wanting to tunnel him, he got bodyblocked. A mistake implies he does something wrong, in this case he really didnt. And he ended up getting her anyway and made the BTed guy waste time mending, so not much of a mistake really.

2:52: Maybe he wanted to save his power energy instead of going after the BTed guy who has DS, and possibly unbreakable. So the slug would do nothing when only 2 gens were left. Not a good move at all. And the one who screamed was the BTed guy who was mending. The other survivors were likely spread out on gens so the monitor + fright combo wouldve done nothing.

2:59: Its not much of a time waste to put a survivor in the basement, it adds pressure and wastes the survivors time as well having to go down + up. You cant see the future and know where survivors are and if their going to run down. They were just likely in comms and coordinated everything making the basement hooks fruitless.

3:30: If he had went far away from the shack to the other gens, the 2 survivors he was screwing with the whole time wouldve just done the same thing on the shack-side of the map, i feel like you arent grasping the issue with this game right now.

Did Tru3 play 100% efficiently? No, but neither did the survivors, however their perfect coordination and ability to hold m1 gave them an easy victory; that is whats wrong with this game. All the mistakes you listed that he did only cost about 30 seconds of wasted time from his POV, do you really think thats why he lost?

The gens are too fast and easy to do right now, if you cant see this then you are kidding yourself.

1:38: Its not really wasting much time taking survivors into the basement as killer even if you aren't 100% sure you will return, because it wastes the rescuers time as well having to go down and up it. And its always a good idea to do it because you dont know who is hanging around it. You cant really blame him for doing this.

Just no, you waste 1(!) survior's time, there's 2 others still so if it takes you 20 seconds to go to the basement and hook somebody it gave 2 other survivors 20 seconds each on a gen which amounts to 40 seconds, it's a HUGE waste of time unless you plan to capitalize on it which he didn't, at all.

You have the same mentality that tru3 has, you amount your time to 1 v 1 when it's 4v1, as a killer you need WAY better time management especially against SWFs coordinating their rescuers.

  • Every killer has counterplay but survivors don't deem Hiding to be fun so they won't do it.

The games that I lose hardest are the ones where survivors are hiding like crazy especially on killers like PH who has a big TR.

Fun is not considered when balancing a game, nor should it be.

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1568965#Comment_1568965

Ok sure every swf has an advantage due to map wide communication. Thst does not mean they can loop optimally. Not every swf is an optimal death squad which is what you are assuming and implying. You cant nerf self without nerfing solo. The best course of action is to by off solo to swf level then buff killers to compensate.

I am not bias myself I favor survivor over killer but I always play rank 1 killer to understand kille problems and see what they struggle with to make my views more objective rather than subjective. Survivors do need buffs that's the thing for one if a map like shelter woods is chosen their should be a guaranteed jungle gym I've had variations with zero that's not fair considering the bad pallets.

That's the reason you rarely see solo, solo sucks and playing with friends is better and more fun

You don't need to loop optimally, drop the pallet early and if he breaks run to the next one. don't try to play for fun, don't open chests just hold m1 and W for distance, It's not rocket science, there's more than enough defensive ressources in most maps.

  • Hiding is the most fun and thrilling part of the game and should've been the base experience, too bad that hiding is pointless if you're the only one doing it because hiding will get your team killed if you don't take aggro for ppl on deathhook etc.

Most people tend to watch content creators if their personality/opinions align with their own.

Take Scott for example, he is one of the most analytical when it comes to DBD, he has always been open about his opinions on killers like Spirit yet still attempts to remain objective in his videos. People who always agree with what he says may not be agreeing because he is their favorite streamer, but because his views match their own. I fall into this category myself.

Nothing objective about a guy with what...7000+hours playing what amounts to a party game suggesting changes that would outright kill it for a majority of the current playerbase.

You can try to be objective and I say that as a guy who's views on balancing align with his but you won't be.

  • This killer is unredeemable and will have to be reworked sooner or later.

Those are your feelings man. I don't get stressed by killer as I've been maining it for years and consistently perform well.

Either way, back to the point of the post (as, again, you being stressed by killer has nothing to do with this)...skill-based does not equal bad.

The best killer IN THE GAME is the most difficult one. Nurse, an insanely strong killer, requires a lot of skill. Huntress, a very good killer, also requires a lot of skill. Making this killer require more skill is not a bad thing whatsoever. I would buff him and make him more skillful.

If you want to go complain about your thoughts on survivor being easy and killer making you stressed and angry, go make your own post about it. I have no idea why you're going off about this under this post about the executioner.

Because it's not neccesary, he's B tier, he's not insanely strong and we don't need to make everything a god damn skillfest in a game that isn't meant to be played for 10.000 hours.

This is not about SWFs or how easy survivor is compared to killer. I have no idea why you're talking about people trashtalking and your personal feelings toward that. Not what this post is about man.

It absolutely is, what is the point of playing killer then purely from a perspective: You're not just playing alone but you're also way more stressed and people here for some reason want the killer to require more skill than the people who are in the numbers advantage.

  • It absolutely is, it's already a miserable feeling to play alone while 4 others are trashtalking you.

You have to get hooked to get your DS and it's only 60 seconds, then it goes away.

Pop and BBQ can be used at most 12 times. Not saying their OP, but neither is DS.

it's only 60 seconds per hookstage. Good thing that DS isn't stacked on each survivor and that gens take 2 minutes each and that a killer doesn't need to hook each survivor 3 times.

  • Why do killers need to be harder to play than survivors who just have to hold m1 and W to win while getting handheld in chases through the red light and third person camera with maps that are mostly still very biased for them.

  • China needs to be regionlocked, it had to be done before and new devs on new games ALWAYS wait out until their games are already half-dead.

what happens if you pair ds and unbreakable?

    it has no counterplay

Dude, DS is extremely counterable, just leave the person who recently got unhooked for 60 seconds to do whatever he wants (Which amounts to 120 seconds per game). Gens take so long it doesn't make a difference, now let me just check genspeeds.

OR they're survivors that know gen time is too precious to spend 2+ minutes searching and cleansing totems to avoid an unfair loss. Literally equipped or not NOED rewards bad killers

literally the game is designed around 5 gens going off with at least 3 survivors still alive unless they ######### up. If killers are bad for letting 5 gens go off then you're basically saying that killers are overperforming.

    Good analogy.

It's daily business for pretty much everyone. For example at your job you are supposed to provide content of good quality, that's all that matters. YOU are supposed to do that work, it's what you've been hired for so if you provide poor quality then you're not doing your job properly. It doesn't matter if the HR-woman couldn't do it better, she never applied for that.

Aside from the fact that a customer is literally entitled to a good product after paying money.
