to be fair, trapper was not exactly a good killer in original 2vs8, so he might be more relevant killer now when playing territorial.
Wasn't Trapper a member of 2 out of the 3 most lethal Killer combos?

Is the survivor running? Chase only triggers when a survivor is running away from you.
-
As a Killer main, I support the Survivors here. The alternative to you having a chance at a trade through preventing the unhook, is a guaranteed kill if there's no basekit BT.
You can stand next to the hook, wait for the unhook, tap once, rebook. There's no interaction. It's a free down no matter how Survivors play it.

Flashbangs/firecrackers have and always will be my favorite item not just for getting saves but more than that, in chase. I was always good with them in chase, blinding killers even before the sound got all messed up and making zoning killers like wesker, demo, huntress, etc miss or look away so I can safely reach then next tile.
Smokebombs let you do all that and then some. Only missing out on saves but i think that is fine for all the uses i got out them so far. They are easier to use to help other survivors mid chase, can be used to pick up slugs off the ground without them going back down instantly and so much more. Great anti tunnel tool for yourself and others. Example, killer came back to tunnel hook and I dropped the smoke bomb giving the person about to be tunneled the opportunity to get away.
of course if the killer has good sound and pathing then you don't get as much value but that's the same as blinding them.
I get completely disoriented when a smoke goes off. The current event ability SEVERELY favors survivors over killers. Every single time it's used, I either lose chase or lose distance.
If someone with 1700+ hours can't handle it, I don't think it should be integrated in this state.

Well dbd has weird bugs, but I didn't even have it one time in 15 games so yeah... sometimes the anwser is really easy, I didn't understand the purpose of the altar until the second half of the first match xD
You have to use the altar in the middle of the new realm?
Bruh. They don't mention that at all. I never went out of my way to go there, I just charged my ability. And the event description just says that in the middle there is a "surprise", not the activation in your aforementioned ability.

Mori can be applied to the last survivor. There are at least two problems with this.
1. A survivor can be killed by this toxic method even if he was never hooked. I get that you guys like killers and all that, but the game needs to smell a little bit of balance, right?
2. You, the developers, if by some miracle you are reading this post, which I highly doubt, are literally cultivating bad sportsmanship by offering to kill the last survivor for free. Instead of encouraging a "hatch for the last surv standing" culture you're literally telling killers "dude we love that you tryhard and slug players for 4K".
3. Thanks to you and this "wonderful" update, playing as a survivor has become even more sad, and even more so being the last one standing.
The whole mori mechanic and the whole phenomenon is toxic. How could you think that such content wouldn't be abused and used for the most vile purposes? Oh yeah, you probably thought "let the players watch a cool mini-show" but that's far from true. In fact, mori is a manifestation of pure hatred and disrespect to player. In particular, it becomes even more vile because the survivor can do nothing about it? There is not a single mechanism that would be able to protect the survivor from the toxic mori.
Mori is also OP because the killer literally gets immunity from hook sabotage, blinding and other tricks that survivors use to save their teammate. Before you make a conclusion about anything, please read the following: I play both sides and I never use mori. I even try to ignore it as much as possible in the blood web. And I don't understand how anyone can like mori, but okay, everyone has their own opinion on this matter, I'm sharing mine.
So why is mori toxic? (attention here - MY opinion)
First of all, as I said, it is simply disrespectful to the player. Yes, this is a game about killing and surviving, but not about complete control of one side (killers) over the other (survivors). Although in today's reality it is, but that is not the point. Killers can do whatever they want to survivors, which they regularly do: make them bleed for 10 minutes, give false hope and then kill them and are very proud of it, and so on. As a player for a survivor, you have no control over yourself. You are completely dependent on how good a player you got on the killer and this is not normal, this is not how the game should work in my opinion. When I play as a survivor I mostly play solo and you can imagine the level of frustration that I get after each match. Not only killers have control but also "teammates" too. They can just sell you, not unhook you, bodyblock you, and a lot of other things that you won't have control over. But I've already gone into that. The point is that giving people too much power over other people is a bad idea from the start (and let me remind you that you're not playing against soulless bots, you're playing against real people who also have emotions just like you). Those who have too much power over others start to behave disgustingly, which we see in many killer players. I won't bring up tunneling and slugging here, otherwise I could talk about it for too long. The topic here is mori and mori is toxic. You can't resist it, it's OP and just bad sportsmanship.
Possible solutions to problems: just add an offering/ability or whatever so that the survivor has a CHOICE and a CHANCE. And that's it. It's that easy and simple. Mori-enjoyers won't take the offering/ability if they want to be killed that way (people can be weird, especially in this game), and those who don't want that will finally get a chance to die normally. I personally prefer to hide in the nooks and crannies of the map and wait for myself to bleed out than to be killed by mori. But unfortunately, this does not always work.
P.S and would be ofc nice if killers can't mori last surv who don't have 2 hook stage.I feel like you're missing the problem. The problem is probably not slugging for the 4k, but rather how unfair the hatch feels.
You can never fully fix it, probably. But I'd figure a good way to reduce it would be to make the hatch more balanced.
Currently, you can lose a game, lose a 50/50 on hatch and STILL escape through an exit gate. And trust me, 50% of the time at least, the gates are far enough for the survivor to easily escape.
Normally I'd suggest that the entity instantly kills the last survivor after closing the hatch, like when the timer runs out. But people want to see moris, so that won't stop slugging.
Maybe closing the hatch gives killer instinct for 10 seconds, along with exposing the last survivor? That way, a very good survivor that can hide even past 10 seconds of killer instinct can still get a gate, the killer no longer has that situation where hitting the survivor just gives them enough time to finish the gate when its around 90%, and killers have an incentive to kill the 3rd survivor to close hatch, as now they are much more likely to get the 4k.
-
The one thing I can agree with is survivor involvement. It would be cool if different moris had different animation "paths", leading to a more exciting experience.
Alas, I still think once a mori starts it should be a guaranteed kill. Its just visual.

However, as you see in your thread here, killer mains will whine and cry the loudest if bhvr takes away the easy-win mechs. They even complain about hatch because apparently 3/4 kills is JUST NOT ENOUGH (they should have everything and survivors should have nothing). I think you have a good idea, I just know it won't be implemented because a killer's job is to kill and they want it as easy as possible until the day the only survivors that are playing are the bots. 🤖
Dramatic exit
Tell me you haven't read anything Killers wrote without telling me you haven't read anything Killers wrote.
No one's complaining about anti-facecamp. We're only complaining about what he SUGGESTED (TRIPLING THE RADIUS?!?).
And if you believe that's a good idea, you're ridiculous.
A LOS anti-camp either has to be so slow that it doesn't do anything, or so fast that it punishes Killers for nothing on open maps.
As for the hatch, we're fine with hatch. We are however NOT fine with working for a 3k, then getting a 50/50 hatch, then STILL having the survivor escape through the gate. It's too many conditions met at the same time. Keep hatch, auto kill the 4th survivor, and we're dandy. We don't like closing hatch, and the 4th guy camping the exit gate escaping before we can even hold W to it.
You tripped on your way out during your dramatic exit.

Survivors are so mad they actually have to get good in chase and not hide the moment they hear a heartbeat.

Killers have 4 perks
Survivors have a total of 16 perks
1 Killer perk should have the same value as 4 Survivor perks.
Distortion can counter not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 perks, along with loads of add-ons.
Even though you have 3 charges, you refill them throughout the match. And unless each perk is triggering Distortion EVERY SINGLE TIME, those 3 charges will rid the Killer of info AT LEAST the first half of the match, assuming you don't even get more tokens.
That first half is when the Killer needs info the most. When he's at his weakest and needs to pick good chases.
1 perk shouldn't give you an escape from so many different things.
SM Myers is a bad example, it's like 1% of all matches, even less.

Womp womp
Do you want to reduce the number of generators to fix to go down to 2 as well?
I personally don't camp, but people are mixing this up. It's anti-FACECAMP, it was introduced for that reason.
And even if it wasn't, tripling the radius is dumb.
Adding a LOS factor is dumb for open maps
And BUFFING Distortion is the biggest cope ever.
If anything I hope this is a troll post and I'm naive enough to have fallen for it.
Also I don't think I need to point out how ridiculous it would be to buff a perk because a random super rare killer build that's not meta counters it.

Huntress was and is much, much stronger than Blight in a 2v8 mode. Blight has cooldowns between rushing and can actually be slowed / stopped by pallets. Huntress is just a complete wrecking ball when you have double the targets and the ability to do damage from halfway across the map.
True, Huntress was really a menace with the aura hatchets combined with the fact that your teammate can flush out survivors into the open.

Current distortion is necessary, with how out of hand these killer aurora wallhack perks have gotten. They are crutching on aurora you can literally see a killers brain melt then they kick a gen expecting to see an aurora but get nothing. Aurora reveal in general needs a rework if you are going to nerf distortion.
Imagine expecting a SURVIVOR perk (which should be as strong as 1/4th of 1 killer perk) not fully countering multiple killer perks consistently.

I really don't think I need to point out how much you know the fallacies in your argument
You are one to talk…
The chance to win
Not really, it's not like tunneling is guaranteed way to win. It's not like survivors have nothing to do against it.
Unless you are magically happy with your only interaction in game having been delaying the inevitable, you're not making a lot of sense here.
Nothing magical here. Chase is main interaction between survivor and killer. I like to chase, tunneling is giving me chase most of the games.
I am usually not annoyed by the killer when I get tunneled, more like by my teammates who gave him the free option and simply don't know what to do against it.You're being a bit self oriented, you didn't even realize I was referring to the survivor winning the game.
If you tunnel someone, even if his teammates are on gens 24/7, that person is dead 90% of the time. You're robbing someone specific of any chance of "winning", which is that individual making it out of the trial alive.
Besides, tunneling gives you less chasing because you only have... Let's say 1.5 health states to go through, along with the fact that you have to be within a certain proximity to the hook to make it in time.
On the other hand, equipping an information perk to go after another survivor will result in quicker chases that are also higher quality.
So please, stop making excuses because the only way you can win is through a strategy that's sucking the fun out of it from others.

Not gonna lie, this has some real: "How do you do, fellow killer mains?" - vibes to it.
Gen rush does exist. It means that survivors do everything in their power to finish the match so fast that the killer can't keep up instead of the normal trying to delay the killer while keeping efficiency high. Whether or not this "ruins" your game is irrelevant. Some players claim to like being tunneled too, so for them it wouldn't ruin the match and yet tunneling does exist.
The main thing gen rush does is to minimise interaction between the survivors and the killer, which is simply boring. Survivors do what most survivor players consider to be the most boring part and pretty much nothing else because the game ends much else can happen, while killers have very little time in the match and won't feel much tension because they are simply outpaced.
Yeah, I'm totally an undercover Survivor, clearly displayed by my ridiculous bias towards one side.
I really doubt you can't see the logical fallacy of expecting Survivors to NOT do generators as quickly as they can. By default, if 1 Survivor is in chase, 3 should be on generators unless the situation demands otherwise.
Is 3 Survivors doing the objective considered genrush?

You're actually not far wrong with that.
We don't favour particular killers, it's most definitely not about favouritism. Some killers are a lot easier to adjust into the mode than others - Blight for the most part is one of those killers, not too much needs to be adjusted. Same as with Spirit, they have a pretty straightforward power that makes implementation quicker into the mode.
We're running this pretty quickly after the last 2v8 mode, and have made some adaptations - there will be further iterations in the future, that encorporates more killers, at least that's the current plan.
Are we allowed to get any hints on how many Killers you guys want to add over the course of a year?

Genrush doesn't prevent you from playing for chunks of the game.
With that logic neither does tunneling. You will get to have a chase for majority of the game even if you are being tunneled. All other survivors get to play the game too.
A Killer still has the ability to play the game without being stuck on a hook, unlike a Survivor.
Because of tunneling, survivor won't experience end game (if killer manages).
Because of genrush, killer won't get to experience early game (most of it at least)
if being on hook is your issue, then you are playing wrong game. That's kinda core mechanic. Staying on hook is counterplay against tunneling anyway, so this sounds more as camping for a change.hyper sweaty 4-man gen focused builds exist, but obviously most people don't refer to that when they say "genrush".
I would say most people take "genrush" as survivors using perks/items for faster gen speed. I don't know what you have under the term…
But actively choosing to hook the same person consecutively even when presented with alternatives is simply toxic behavior until all other options are exhausted.
What is toxic about it? It's logical.
If I have survivor on dead hook and survivor who wasn't hooked yet, I don't have any reason to go after the second survivor (unless I use perks for it).
It's definetly understandable to do so, if there is like 1/2 gens left. You simply need to kill a survivor to win at that point.
Even if someone does it at 5 gens, that's not toxic in my opinion (clearly even more overused term).I really don't think I need to point out how much you know the fallacies in your argument. Don't argue just for the sake of arguing please.
I'm just going to do the first one for good measure, you can do the rest by following the formula:
You're robbing the person being tunneled of:
- The chance to win
- Any interaction past chases (ie. hiding, healing, repairing, saving, rescuing, choosing where to take chase)
This is like downing someone when a gate is open with old DS when it didn't cancel during endgame.
Sure, you're chasing. Sure, you're mind gaming. Sure, you down the survivor. Now what? They escape anyway.
Unless you are magically happy with your only interaction in game having been delaying the inevitable, you're not making a lot of sense here.
-
@PetTheDoggo said:
There is no such thing as genrush, guys.
It does, but the term is simply overused exactly same as tunneling, camping and slugging.
Unlike tunneling, which directly tampers with someone else's gameplay quality, genrush is simply just the main objective of Survivors.
Killing survivor is killer's objective.
Actual gen rushing definetly tampers with killer's gameplay, because game is simply way faster than usual.
Tunneling is a problem in on itself
Tunneling in general? Not really, most killers are simply opportunistic, which is fine and should be a thing. 8 hook every game is unrealistic for most killers.
Tunneling since first hook (going into the game with a plan to tunnel) is exactly same issue as actual tunneling. But I would say both are quite rare…Genrush doesn't prevent you from playing for chunks of the game. A Killer still has the ability to play the game without being stuck on a hook, unlike a Survivor.
And yes, hyper sweaty 4-man gen focused builds exist, but obviously most people don't refer to that when they say "genrush".
As for opportunistic tunneling, it's fine. If someone is off the hook and I have no one else to chase, that's just fate at that point. But actively choosing to hook the same person consecutively even when presented with alternatives is simply toxic behavior until all other options are exhausted.

Genrushing def exists. Survivors can bring 4 perks that cover a variety of areas or they can all bring BTL, SW, Prove and SB. With a commodious toolbox and double charges. They can bring a whole build just for crushing gens like I have done with my SWF. Streetwise stacks too so you can knock out 2 gens in 80 seconds before having to use Built To Last to get your whole toolbox back for free.
No different from a Killer bringing powerful chase perks and add-ons.
-
Or, hear me out, they added Blight because his ability is running.
He's a simple killer to add. As much as I'd love seeing a 2v8 iteration in Singularity, good ######### luck to me for at least another year.
Plague, Wesker, Nemesis, Singularity, Freddy, Dredge, these are complex killers to add.
Of course they just chose the speedy boy.
-
Because 1 survivor perk isn't equal to 1 killer perk.
Lightborn is still a super weak perk, not because it's useless, but because you could bring another gen regression instead of it.
Please stop complaining about such simple perks.
-
As a killer main, I'd prefer spawning far from survivors. You have any idea how frustrating it is to spawn in the middle of the map? You have NO IDEA where to go for a chase. It's entirely luck dependant for you to walk into the correct direction.

@Ayodam said:

it definitely does. The devs have confirmed this several times. Hit validation prioritizes what the killer sees. IIRC grabs (from gens and used to be hooks) are prioritized based on what the survivor sees.
As it should? Unless you expect killers to glide through the survivor's model mid launch to their future, predicted location, it has to be killer sided. It's much easier taking a vault a little earlier by accounting for ping.
Also, your ping has the SAME impact on your vault as the killer's ping. If you have 100ms and you vault, the server will vault you 100ms after. Then, if the killer has 50ms, they will see the vault 50ms after the initial 100ms. The exact same happens if the ping values are swapped.
The one thing killers don't have though, is that high ping makes last second hits under pallets harder. I don't have high ping, probably like 60ms. But watching Otz taught me one thing:
I definitely should be getting more hits under pallets before the stun hits me, compared to how he gets hits under pallets even if he touches the survivor 5ms before a stun.
Point is, lag is a double edged sword. But it would be ridiculous for hit validation to prioritize killers. Because pallets on the other hand, prioritize survivors. For the same reason.

I have one constructive and one non constructive feedback.
- You should stop writing every word as a capital without and periods and structure to your sentences. It makes you look uneducated, which automatically devalues your opinions, which you want to be positive.

And like I said, you've already won the game at that point anyway. Losing the last Survivor isn't the end of the world. No one should be guaranteed a free 4k like that.
Imagine doing all 5 gens, and the Killer presses a button (same logic as hatch) and you die to a heart attack. But your team escaped, right? You won anyway. (And if you're going to argue that you specifically wouldn't win, that means we have to consider everyone separately. It means the Killer maybe won against you, but lost to the 3 survivors. That means if one person escapes, the Killer loses to that one survivor. Which, toxic survivors that get hatch love to point out.)
If you deserved the escape, you'd want the escape. Same as the killer, who would want to get the 4k.
No killer would mind if they had 1 gen left, and it was a very intense game that they expected to lose, where one survivor got hatch. It's fine. At that point, I'd just be happy and say GG's.
But if I get 3 kills at 3 gens left, and the last guy gets to escape because I am FORCED to close hatch to even have a chance at killing him, then yes, I will be bothered.
Hatch is a problem. Killers get punished for doing well, and some maps straight up don't allow you to hold W towards a gate after closing hatch. This promotes survivors waiting at gates instead of looking for the hatch.

You would end up giving the killer much more precise information.
-
I like how we always get half of the story in matters like this. Sure, a survivor ratted you out.
What did YOU do?
At least before we give you sympathy you need to assure us that you aren't just butthurt. If you were hiding all match, if you sandbagged your teammate, if he was on gens when it was a 2v1 and you were just trying to secure hatch instead of working on a common goal,
Then yeah, you kinda deserve it.

Why do you say ridiculous like that's a bad thing?
Also by several, you mean 2, right? We got Susie and David. The other characters that are LGBT like Tubarao are from other IPs, not DBD.
I just think it'd be cool to have more canon LGBT characters. I personally wanna see a trans woman be added specifically, since I'm a trans woman myself. People feeling represented in the games they play is a good thing, it helps people feel included and connect to a game.
Really? Because I really don't feel represented as a killer main, as most of them don't even look human and the straight white males among them tend to be murderous. And even then, I main Singularity.
I don't know why anyone would need to connect to a game character any other way aside from motives and personality, not sexuality.
Thanos worked in Infinity War not because there are a lot of giant purple people with streaks on their chin, but because you relate to his ideals and hardcore commitment to his cause. And he was right according to his own experiences.
That's how you connect. Like what, if Feng Min all of a sudden got revealed to be trans, would you be happy? If anything I'd say:
Let's just leave sexuality out of the ######### murder game. I'm not against characters being LGBTQ, I'm against anyone's sexuality being open for whatever reason. Who gives a #########? You know what comes after an explicitly trans character gets put into the game? Then people start tunneling the trans character, causing more problems.
But instead, if we keep it a secret where everyone sticks their genitals to, nothing bad happens.

I don't really watch dev streams, I mostly only care about the content that's actually in the game. And there is currently only one gay character, so I honestly don't know what you mean by "catering". Are you talking about the pride flags being equippable as charms?
Also, I checked out the 2v8 announcement stream out of curiosity from what you said, and there are several white guys presenting and participating in gameplay, so what you just lied about that.
And what are you even talking about in regard to the 10%/90% thing? I'm genuinely confused.
90% of the world at least, is non-LGBTQ. Definitely much higher, but I'm being nice.
As for the 2v8 stream, of course I don't fully remember and there probably is a white dude or two. The point I'm making is that it's insanely out of ratio.
If you really want a fair, non biased way to add "variety" to your game, grab the percentage of people that exist in a certain ethnicity or sexuality irl.
If 0.5% of the world is trans, 2% gay, 0.5% pansexual or whatever, and the remaining 97% is straight, you know what's fair?
Spin a wheel every time you create a new character. Slap those numbers on it, and statistically speaking there will be fair representation for each group.
You might say, "We have a gay character but not a trans character. How is that fair?"
And I say, since when does it matter? Why are we so obsessed with a bunch of pixels on the screen having sexualities? If you're so obsessed with your sexuality that it determines the character you play, that's an issue that you need to resolve.
I don't think straight people mind playing David, so why should gay people mind playing someone else? Since when is representation so massively important? Preventing hate crime is one thing, but from a logical perspective, most characters on the roster SHOULD be straight. Then, the second largest group is gay people. They are also represented. I'd argue Tubarao's existence is also on par with the percentage of trans folks.

Haha, this has to be a joke.
No offense, but BHVR has been catering to the LGBTQ community much more than you give them credit for. One could argue it's overwhelming how much support there is.
I'm all for people being safe from threats, violence or hate. But you have to be ignorant to believe BHVR hasn't been specifically catering towards LGBTQ members, women and black people.
Watch any chapter reveal that happened recently. There are no big streamers like Hens, Otz, Scott, Ayrun, or anything.
All of the people, especially in the 2v8 reveal were either non-whites, women, trans people or drag queens.
Trust me, BHVR has been and always will cater to LGBTQ, don't worry. And there's nothing wrong with that.
What the issue is, is that they're prioritizing being diverse over contributions.

My argument was not that it is as broken as CoH, but that fundamentally the way we show our frustrations towards it.
No one wants to take a detour from A to B on their way to C, just because someone brought a perk.

This is not necessary. If you wish to block Map Offerings you can ALREADY do that. Use the offering which counters all Map Offerings and you are set.
Lmao. So I shouldn't bring any extra bloodpoints, or a Mori, just so that I get to have some fun instead of being forced into Badham?
Also, there are 4 survivors per game. You can very easily gamble on whether the killer will bring a map offering, but against 4 survivors? Good luck. You will literally run out of the offering.
And again, even if you don't, this is a stupid argument.

Would make winning too easy for the people that are willing to abuse it.
Hook someone, tunnel right after unhook, kill someone within the first 3 minutes of a match.

She's fine lol. She only gets the 3rd blink 16 meters near the other killer, and the other buffs are more of QoL. She just doesn't get extra fatigue that much from chain blinks and missing (which are 2 brown add-ons or something from her base version).

In a map where 8 people are running around, instadowns are too powerful for such a mobile killer. You could probably go in any direction and hit a survivor without actually having planned to do it, which makes it unfair and broken.

Double it and give it to the next 4 people
I love this

I mean, cool concept. Hexes should be high risk / high reward.
My suggestion would be, however, is to instantly give every survivor one health state once the totem is cleansed. So you are rewarded for taking care of it, even though the totem is strong.

Most tunneling is non-intentional.

Or why Huntress has the decision between two Buffs, while Billy has it between a Nerf and a Buff.
Or why Trapper would only get one Benefit for one option.
Or why one of Wraiths options will only benefit the teammate, while the other clearly benefit the Wraith (and is way better).
Ask that to the people that make the perks.
Apparently they think Trapper having more traps is good enough as an option, or being able to get 50% more hits as Billy is good enough to give up on insta-downs.

You all misunderstood.
Every killer has 2 options (from what I understand).
You ge to choose which "abilities" you want, and at the bottom right you can see 2/4 perk icons lit up with 2/4 grayed out. So with Hillbilly, you can choose either:
- Survivors are exposed when you're doing your chainsaw sprint
or;
- You get more control, but you don't instadown
No one is getting nerfed.
