The invitations are out of the way and sometimes it takes a while to even stumble across them, especially as a Survivor if you start near a gen, you don't want to run around the map looking for one. And sometimes you spawn right next to one.

From a Killer perspective (with some survivor gameplay, but I get more cakes on Killer since I don't share the event pool with Items):

The Pallets are roster dependent and outside of long loops with no LoS blockers (EG: Haddonfield hedges)/safe-loops are somewhat easily baited (I say this as a Pig player).

For the Vault block I expected it to at first to kinda work like Bamboozle, where you do a Vault and it blocks the vault, but it's kinda clunky (especially on controller), given that you need to aim at the vault for the prompt to appear. It's also not clear that you can vault your blocked vault, just like Bamboozle. The Vaults where it's beneficial to do so (outside of against a Killer like Legion), are small.

The Pallet Break for Killer is slow, almost the same as if you kicked it normally, though it does let you start moving around the loop early if possible.

The instadown feels cheap, but I haven't used it much.

About the pallet break power. Its not too strong by itself but the fact that it lets you keep bloodlust is ridiculous. So many matches ive seen where the killer just uses bloodlust and only breaks strong pallets with the power and theres almost no counter.

  • Cause everytime i face a pinhead i brought a rare item or have a build based on an item and i dont wanna drop it cuz i hate randoms stealing my #########

  • if you're on controller, that explains it. Controller can only do gradual < 90 degree turns, while pc can do quick 90 degree flicks

In nearly all of those examples you get to see that the perk is in effect before it punishes you, or it is a reward for the killer winning a chase. In other cases you can outright remove the perks from the game.

Unlike on the survivor side where the killer has to play like a good little punching bag whether the perks are there or not, because they're invisible until after the killer has already been punished, and you have to assume any given one is in effect.

so is noed, so is pop, so is bamboozle, so is pain resonance.

    point?

  • As long as the bloodpoint gain stays, change PT as much as you want

  • And killers have perks that do the same

    noed: Just waste time

    ruin: Just dont run away

pain resonance: just dont get hooked

    pop: just dont get hooked

    thanatophobia: always heal when injured

    bamboozle: just dont use windows

blood favour: Just dont use pallets

Make actual arguments that only apply to one side, not both if you want to convince people.

I do think some of those perks need nerfs, but this is not the way of conveying it

  • True that, but the add on is much better than i thought it was

Well it is somewhat better now, but even then I think it will reduce the range you can hit with M2...

Scratch what i had said, just watched lilith omen's video on it and it is quite broken.

  • @Rogue11 said:

Don't forget they gave him another broken add on to add to the pile with the adrenaline vile buff. Paired with the yellow recharge add on, his charges come back in 0.66 seconds. So much for that "lengthy cooldown" that supposedly balances him. Oh and adren. also gives him better flicks, extra rush tokens, and faster rushes. Who needs alchemists ring when this even more broken combo exists? But hey, I'm sure the spreadsheet says "is balanced" when you include every player that just got the game and has no idea how any of the mechanics work.

Meanwhile Spirit has a weaker chase power with a longer cooldown, less mobility, AND is 4.4m/s....

    Adrenaline Vial OP?!

I know it got buffed but it aint that good. It neuters your turning rate to the point where everything that made blight good is worse.

Slugging is bad for BP, I shouldn't be forced to play BP inefficient! I am entitled to play with high BP gain!

Then start winning, if you want high BP, play like you do deserve high BP. Why would the game reward you with currency for losing.

Hook them before the sabo happens, down the saboer, wait until the hook fixes itself. There are many ways to turn that into an advantage. If you want to be rewarded, work for it

This right here is exactly why LMFAO. If I don't send the clip then I don't own up to my mistakes even though survivors were using meta perks and doing gens quickly and making mistakes is just overkill. But if I send the clip you will always find a mistake, I know the outcome and that's not gonna make me wanna send you a clip lol. If the real issue is just me not looking at my mistakes, then the game is balanced and fine? Also, they played better than me? How so? I mean they're definitely not better than me because we're not playing the same game. You cannot compare the skill of the killer to a survivor because both roles are basically different games. Is the survivor better because they're looping me at a pallet that's good for them?

Oh god please stop pretending like you're some kind of victim. You complain that survivors win when you played supposedly perfect. You refuse to accept they beat you at the game, and thats why you come to the forums to complain. You want an echo chamber where people agree with what you, no matter how senseless it is.

You say you were that sabo builds are op? Just slug them. If you refuse to change because you think you deserve to win, you wont ever win

I would've like to see the kill rate of all the maps.

Cowshed is one of the most survivor sided maps, I'm not very surprised about that. The second, third and four maps with less kill rate are Haddonfield, Badham and The Game, I'm pretty sure.

Midwitch is in general a good map for killers, not surprised about that kill rate considering the bad state of the killer in general (less than 3 average kills even in that map).

Well that last statement makes no sense. You say killer is bad because in their best map, they get less than 3 kills (considered a win by MMR), but in their worst map, they get an average of 2 (a draw by MMR). If the devs were to follow that logic killers would be nerfed even more

  • @jesterkind said:

So, here's the problem, right? I'd kind of agree with you on boons, I think they aren't working fully as intended and should be tweaked a little (though obviously they shouldn't be made limited use, that'd be silly), but when it comes to MMR...

Yeah, sure, a lot of people are saying that they're quitting. Maybe a lot of people are! And they're blaming MMR... but have you ever asked them to explain what they dislike about it?

Because usually, in my experience, their answers have extremely little to do with the SBMM system. Usually it's stuff about how fast gens pop, or how strong certain survivor perks are, or the feeling that they have to play "sweaty" to get anywhere... and those things aren't MMR. Those things were a problem before MMR, even. The MMR system is just a convenient scapegoat for people's generalised frustrations.

I generally believe them when they say that the MMR system itself is working well, and that the problem is that they let the matching get too lax to prioritise speed. I think a little more work should be put in regardless (and they've mentioned fixes for facecamping which is one of the most glaring issues rn), but the system clearly isn't actually broken, it just isn't working as well as it could be.

Maybe this is placebo, but my experience is that in MMR, instead of having balanced matches (2K 2 escapes), i have a balanced general outcome. Lots of matches 4ks, and lots of matches 0ks.

It feels like MMR kind of groups you based on your MMR in weird ways.

If i have to describe it, it feels like I'm stuck in between groups of MMR 900-1200 and groups of MMR 1200-1500, where every 2 wins or losses I get moved into the opposite group, and each group has opponents too weak for me or too strong.

I rarely feel like i have much of a chance against the higher MMR players, where even sweating i only sometimes get 1 kill, and it's too easy to win against the lower MMR, where even playing nice i could get a 3-4k before the last gen popped.

One match is frustrating because the opponents are significantly better, while the other is boring because even playing it is too easy.

Again, maybe it's placebo, but thats my experience.

Why can survivors repair 4 gens at a time if I can't chase 4 at the same time, even though killer are a little bit faster survivors have way less things to do in a match than killers.

Killers waste more BP than survivors because they can find a flashlight or medkit in a chest, but killers can't get anything in match, you can be looking for a specific add-on but you can't find it so you waste more BP than a survivor.

Survivors doesn't need perks to play but killers does.

The game is so unbalanced that I can play with no mither as my only perk and win

    Ignoring the whole gens thing.

Killers make way more BP and have way less things in the bloodpoint.

Fair enough, what stresses us out is often subjective. But you don't always win if you're good as killer, a lot depends on the survivors, and on RNG. If all other factors are equal, a survivor team will almost always win.

And I have escaped innumerable times when my team was hot garbage. It makes things a lot harder, but it can be done. Hell, you can be an awful surv and escape. I mean people are doing it, I've run into a number of Iri grade 1 survivors recently who were terrible. Not just "gawd my teammates are soooo bad", but properly, objectively terrible.

That's another thing; it was before the devs ditched the old ranking system, but when I started playing survivor I hit red ranks a TON faster than I did with killer. I know some of that can be chalked up to me have a lot more general game experience than when I started, but only some. You get a lot more BP as killer, but the emblem system is far less forgiving.

Honestly, 100% truth, the opposite happens to me regarding emblems. As survivor i usually have 2 silver, 1 gold, 1 bronze, while as killer i usually have 1 or 2 iris, 1 gold and 1 silver.

And i only consider it a win as survivor when we have a 3 or 4 man escape, so i win a lot less with bad teammates.

Though i do agree that if everyone plays perfectly, with best perks and items, survivors will almost always win. But something like that only really happens in tournaments. This should probably be changed.

That second point goes for literally everything that causes offence ever. You're just drawing a mental box around things that don't bother you or that you assume won't bother you to distinguish it from things that you would find too much, and saying that these actions should be handled by the recipient.

You're also making a lot of assumptions about my reaction: I never said teabagging affects me like that; I'm just entirely too used to bullies and their attitudes. And I really don't like this notion of "Well if you want to play a fun game with people, better accept bullying!" as if every other hobby doesn't tend to penalise and drive out people who're there to get a rise out of the other participants.

I never thought you were offended by tea bagging, i just used you as an example.

I used to get annoyed by teabagging, a lot, but you just need to realize these people dont matter. They dont know what you did, what happened or anything. You dont stop driving because somebody gave you the finger in the road, you dont avoid a hobby because there are a few elitists, and you dont quit DBD because some toxic opponents BM'ed you.

I'm not telling you to just accept the bullying, but that doesnt mean you should be mad at the game, or at opponents in general, just like you dont get mad at a hobby for having elitists.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

I think saying survivor takes "no skill" isn't something you actually hear a lot. Less skill than killer? Sure, but I think that's probably true.

Is it a less stressful experience to play survivor than killer? Without question, absolutely. When I started playing DBD, it was strictly killer for hundreds of hours. Then on a whim I switched to survivor because I was getting a little burnt out, and discovered that it was relatively relaxing. The action is spread around at any given time, with a decent amount of a most matches spent chilling on gens or totems, etc. Once you get the skill checks down to the point where it's almost reflex, most of the match as a survivor is pretty mindless (until you get into chase).

With killer, it's go time the whole time, trying to wrangle four other players, who if they are any good, have spread themselves out, and/or coordinating with each other (now boon totems are in the mix, so your attention is spread even more). Zero time just spent holding the action button and waiting for skill checks. It's a constant "where are they, what are they doing, how am I going to manage this?" After a while I started playing a lot more survivor than killer, simply because it's just more fun and relaxed. Killer stresses me out at higher levels, survivor doesn't, and I only play solo queue.

At this point, I may have more hours playing survivor than killer overall. Playing survivor simply requires less of a player than killer, and I think anyone who believes otherwise hasn't played much (if any) killer, or is so biased they are unwilling to see it.

And listen, there is no mystery as to why, there are simply more survivor players than killer players, and that's where the money is. It's a casual game with a casual base, and you can't stress those people out too much.

The exception here might be at very high level, where survivors have some seriously refined skills. But that's not a world where like 99.9% of DBD players are (despite what some might think).

I personally find survivor much more stressing than killer because on killer, I win if I'm good, while as survivor, we win if my team is good. Might have to do that when I started, I played around 100 hours for survivor before really playing killer, which is opposite to what you did.

What you're doing is victim blaming. Well intentioned victim blaming, but you're still saying it's the fault of the people this behaviour is targeted at, even though almost everyone playing the game understands what teabagging a killer is meant to mean and agrees that this can and does get to people.

Just because you or I don't get bothered by something, doesn't mean that between focusing on the person doing something wrong and the person being targeted, we should choose to harangue the person already having a bad time for not also doing better emotionally. Keep the blame on the jerks.

    1. Very rude of you to use victim blaming for such a silly thing.

    2. I'm not saying that the blame isn't on the one who does it, but the only one allowing it to affect you is well... You.

This isn't something easy, but it's something you need to do if you plan on playing ANY vídeo game.

  • @pseudechis said:

I've often found sound input as survivor far less necessary. I've sunk way more time on killer than survivor overall but to not play half the game is silly. Survivor is fun but its just not as interesting as killer.

Sadly the experience I want from survivor is one of constant threat and fear from getting caught and often games just don't deliver that. Even if the killer gets a hit or pops a gen its really simple to reset killer pressure with super fast healing and gen tapping. Bring a load out of 1v1 perks a tool box with a BNP, buddy with a good med kit a couple of boons and you and your pal can smash over half the survivor objective usually before the killer has two hooks.

I wouldn't say it takes no skill but if you've been sweating your arse off as killer it feels pretty cruisy to cakewalk your way to an escape in over half your matches as survivor.

Also even if the team dies and you get out its still a little personal win for you so you don't have the same constant sense of loss not getting the kills as killer, this is even more true if playing solo where the team's success often doesn't even factor in to your own personal dopamine hit from getting out alive on your own.

Those are very good points and I agree, but if you can escape with only 2 hooks, that means at least one person on the team outplayed the killer several times. And there is nothing stopping the killer to bring the strongest perks and add ons as you did. Personally I'm never too happy to escape alive, only when it's at least a 3 man against a good killer. But yeah, the most try hard items on survivor is usually better than the most try hard add ons for killers

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/298717/since-when-did-the-whole-forums-start-saying-survivor-takes-no-skill

FFS, nobody's getting offended by the actual teabagging part (or at least, I hope nobody finds "spam crouch button" actually in some way intrinsically upsetting, that would be pretty odd); it's the intent it signifies. Same as shouting profanities at people, rude hand gestures, insulting their parentage, random slurs, etc.

People just want to play the game without being taunted when they're losing, taunted even when they're technically winning, and just generally treated as unworthy of common decency. In isolation it's bearable, but if it keeps happening in game after game in one day? Very aggravating. Particularly when this is meant to be a fun experience and people are making it clear they don't want you to enjoy it.

When people say, "just ignore it", it makes me think they haven't actually had to deal with bullies. It's not something that stops, not giving them a reaction doesn't work if they even get one occasionally, and it isn't behaviour that you condone by turning a blind eye to and letting it sort itself out.

We all want to enjoy the game, yes? So can we not blithely accept the people who transparently want someone else not to?

The thing is, teabagging either affects the game positively for you or doesn't affect it at all. The only thing it can negatively affect is your mindset. My best tip against teabaggers is to just remember how childish they're being. Probably a teenager, or even worse, a whole adult, who thinks they are special because they outplayed you. If they're in solo q, their teammates probably dislike them as well.

  • @pseudechis said:

since a bunch of killers switched up to survivor and realised how easy it is.

It really is quite forgiving to play survivor, you don't even need to focus on locational sounds so you can listen to music or watch a movie while you play.

There will be games where you get outplayed by good killers and have to focus but man they are 1 in 10 maybe at least in my experience.

You get the occasional toxic killer who acts like a jerk and then has a meltdown post game but I'd say again you get that 1 in 10 or more games compared to playing killer. I'd say as killer you get at least one if not a whole team of toxic survivors who feed off each other and want to abuse you every 3-4 games. Even with a thick skin and a complete understanding that it doesn't matter at all it still gets tiresome after a while.

I'd say half the relaxing element that comes from playing survivor stems from the great reduction in negative interactions you have with players who want to rage at you.

I have a lot of time on killer, and less than 10 messages sent after a match by survivors. As survivor I get more stressed at my teammates than anything. And i have no idea how you play without locational sounds. As survivor you usually get very little information. You need them to know which killer it is, rough location, where teammates are and hex totems, from the top of my head.

It's very irritating playing in a 190 ping and also I hate the players that are playing with me. They are mostly gamers from China. They are very horrible players at this game from my expereince. I never seen ANY twitch or youtuber play with these type of players. They also hack quite often. It's just such a bad experience and I really wish someone from the dev team sees this post and helps with it please. 97 MS on singapore servers i'm fine with but sometimes I get 190 MS east asian servers why? Europe has a better ping than east asian ping. Europe is around 130 or 140 MS and even singapore is better with 97 ms. Please help us with this issue. What is worse than a sore loser? A sore winner. As Killer you can't do anything to stop them from leaving. In a few cases the overestimate and get caught, but that good feeling does not erase the other times when they just tease you.

I read many times, that you can just ignore it or don't go to the exit gates. If ignoring it would help, there would not be daily complains about it. And if you don't go to the exit gates, you have to stand somewhere waiting until they leave, a complete time waste.

I am proposing to change that, so you can't crouch at the exit gates and in an area around it, because everybody knows, survivor will just find a way to exploit it.

Nobody would be harmed. It has only positive aspects.

Literally, go to the gate, force them to leave, get to next match. Boom, problem solved. Literally just think about how silly those people are to be so immature to another person. If you get them to BM when you havent BM'ed, you won, because it shows how childish they are.

But please, stop complaining about someone repetitively clicking a button. I dont teabag because i find it rude, but holy hell, how is there someone who gets so tilted by nothing that they feel the need to ask the developers to remove it.

I may be new but at least my suggestion for the change is for the chance of making killer experience better overall without being op the thing about carrying a surivor getting one hit kill is only if your next to the hook trying to hook on a free hook like im talking about short range of the hook ...

    That would punish them

Oh yeah, lets just make an already mostly bad playstyle even worse cause you cant press a whole 1 button to remove their hitboxes. They are already punished because they are now injured. Why make it a one shot for literally no reason
