The reasoning behind this is in our KillSwitch article in the KB.
The map is having a visual and level design update, so will be unavailable for the immediate future.

Thank you! Is it the same with Fractured Cowshed & The Crotus Prenn Asylum?

I really hope it continues to have lots of grass and areas survivors can't avoid traps - it's my favorite map as Trapper.
My all-time favorite trap area is outside of the upstairs Myers window. I swear I get them every time.

No, it's already been uploaded with the update; they just haven't switched it on yet.
Oh thank goodness!

Wait - will there be another download for the event, or...nah?

Ok let's see! :)
I started downloading it 5 minutes after it went live. It's got about 5 more minutes to go. Then I'm BACK BABY!

It is like downloading the whole game again. For crappy internet users like myself it will take hours to complete.
How dare crappy internet users like yourself play DBD!

Okay I have a dumb question that I hope is a allowed: If you turn on the wiggle interaction for the beta testing, can you turn it off if you don't like it?

Oh, here it is! 🎻 😢
The Haddonfield map and the Strode Realty Key offering have been disabled.
I guess I’ll just have to manage without survivors sending me to Haddonfield for a while. 🤷♂️
Was there any reasoning behind this?

Sure you can discuss as much as you want, I absolutely don’t care about this. But it’s getting super annoying to complain about everything and that’s exactly what’s going on here everyday, every time whenever I log on. Ppl “discuss” so much that they want everything nerfed to their favour. And that’s simply nothing else but complaining. ;)
Oh okay, I see. It wasn't this thread in particular you were annoyed at, just the accumulation of threads and you chose this one to take it out on although most people were having an actual discussion and not acting like a bunch of whiny cry babies. (As per norm for some "nerf this or that" threads)

It was 15%, now it's 25%. Saves you a few seconds, but it's still wildly unattractive because it's a perk that doesn't help you throughout the match and doesn't have a massive, gamechanging effect like Adrenaline.
It's best used with Left Behind as a selfish strat, honestly.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2769949#Comment_2769949
This is my biggest gripe. The devs got giant flashing lights that said "hey, these two perks aren't fun at all, look at how they can be abused to create 30+ minute games" and slept on it. Not improving the bad perks is one thing, but not patching the busted ones is a sin.
I'm honestly considering 'crashing' when I see RCPD offerings in the next few days. I've never done that before in my life, but if the devs aren't going to patch their own bugs, then the onus is on me to protect myself from them. And god knows everyone's going to be trying it out while it's still fresh. I just want to do the event and tome in peace.
I honestly only used wake up to find the exit gates. I never much paid attention to the speed thing.
-
@Midori_21 said:

It makes you open the exit gate like 10% faster than it did before. Basically it makes you open the gate faster gooder.
Oh.

Once more, absolutely none of the PTB feedback was acted on.
Boil Over is now the next hot troll perk - still completely useless for anyone looking to play Dead By Daylight normally, but can be abused in several maps, especially with oak offerings, to basically replicate the old Breakdown bug and create self-pickup slugfests in unhookable areas. Such zones include RCPD library, Eyrie of Crows, Dead Dawg Saloon (potentially), Thompson House, and god knows what mischief will unfold on Haddonfield because that was disabled in the PTB. Again, I want to stress that this perk isn't good, and can't even be used on most maps - it's 100% going to be troll bait.
Dead Man's Switch can be effortlessly camped by Artist, which lets her facecamp someone to death and prevent gens from getting any progress, or force a hook trade in which she blocks the gens again. Doctor and Freddy also have the potentials to be game-stalling monsters with this, but Artist is the main problem case.
Gearhead's aura is harder to see than the old version of the perk even if the trigger conditions are better.
Buckle Up and Furtive Chase are still 100% useless. Wake Up and Distortion are still 90% useless.
And unsurprisingly, none of the addon nerfs were reverted. Mikhail's Eye needed to be 35% instead of 50% zombie movement speed because Twins are monsters at high MMR.
Why do we even have a PTB if absolutely none of the feedback is taken into account? You might as well just release everything to live immediately and then patch it in three months if something's busted, because that's what happens anyway.
What about "Wake Up" was changed?

Boil Over has been buffed from 25%/50%/75% to 50%/75%/100% wiggling effect, with the added bonus of granting an instant 25% wiggle progress when the killer falls from a "great height"
dammnnn.

For those not in the "know," what does this mean exactly?
-
Less than 10 minutes from now I believe.

I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal getting a fresh start. In reality, I missed my original account terribly. But the situations are completely different so maybe you won't miss your first account?

Quick question:
3k + surv esc through hatch = win?
3k + surv esc through gate = loss?

It’s explained in the dev update:
IMPORTANT NOTE: In both cases, these improvements will require you to completely redownload the game. This means there will be a very large download when updating or opting into or out of the PTB. Don’t worry, this is normal! Afterwards, updates will go back to being much smaller.
More info here, the very first topic

Aw...feck. I forgot about there being an update. I hope it's not hours long, good lord.
-
Gots to look good while we be killin' you.
-
Okay, I got myself psyched up and started a day early. Here are some of my thoughts so far:
I'm going to be looking at BM's...namely, flashlight clicks, t-bags and hits on hook. (That last one will be on me obviously). I will be paying attention to tunneling and camping but I'm not completely disallowing it. (I don't want any situational play to be restricted.) Also, I am counting suicides and dcs as kills. Lastly, instead of playing one killer until I win, I'm going to rotate my killer each time, starting with Trapper and ending with the Artist. I will still be playing each killer until I win, but will be rotating instead.
Phew.
ETA:
So far I've played Trapper and Wraith, 4ks on each. I'm most worried about Blight. I'm trying to get to iri 1 and I'm already a week behind because of bans so hopefully this doesn't hurt my chances any more.
Other things I've decided to keep track of are match times and the challenges I'm currently doing at the time and how I am progressing on them through each match.
-
I mean, I'm all for a challenge but I think I'll more or less play like normal and just observe certain stats. I like the idea of cycling through your killers til you get a win, but I'm curious about...different things.
-

Thank you and I really enjoy reading your posts.
I would make a small proposition that I really wonder around.
SoloQ or SWF
Escape ratio with and without boons.
If there were boons, also how many survivors had the perk.
From my personal experience, having a booner, escape rate is quite greater
Booner...hehe. I like it.

You have nothing to lose. You'll be surprised after playing for 2 hours how little data was actually used. I have 15GB so I'm pretty comfortable I won't run out.
I've been doing it since November (click on my name and see the discussion about it). I couldn't even log onto the game until I did this. As soon as your done playing dbd then switch back to your lan or wifi.
Genuinely you have nothing to lose. I am doing this on console btw incase that makes a difference to you.
Actually if you'd like we can play together someday so I can show you that it doesn't really do much.
You're making a pretty convincing argument and it'd be cool to play sometime. I'm down whenever.

For me the only game I have problems playing with my normal internet is Dbd. Every other game works perfect.
For me I usually get 90 to 100 ping, so long as I don't use my phone. You'll have a few random spikes but better than not playing the game at all. Try it for 1 session. Play about 2/3 hours of dbd and see how it feels.
Hmm....okay...I'm putting my trust out there.

As someone who has had nat type problems since November, you just need to play on 4G hotspot.
Is it annoying? Yes but at least it works. Just try to not use your phone for a bit. Also I will say it uses a lot less data than you'd expect.
How is it with handling gaming speeds though? That is my biggest concern. A cell phones hot spot does not seem optimal for online multiplayer gaming.
-
@Ripley said:
About your strict NAT, have you tried talking to your ISP about it? I'd be inclined to change provider.
I have. It's the best internet in the area and isn't the problem itself if I understand it correctly. If what I understand to be true is correct, then the problem is I have a double NAT setting, meaning, I think, two routers. I've went out and bought a whole new router because of all this (the most expensive one i could find) and when in contact with their support team about opening up ports, (a solution I'm assured by Xbox will work), they confirmed that we had two routers and that one would need to be set to bridge before the other could open the ports. If you want I can finish this story but its getting awfully long and I'm sure plenty boring.
-
@fengminenjoyer said:
i believe theres a 1 day gap between the penalties for it to start going down a number, so in your case you are probably gonna have to be waiting for many days for it to reach 0, you should get in contact with your internet provider and have someone come and fix your modem, im sorry to say this but if your issues are bad enough to get to 72 hours ban you should not play the game until you get it fixed, you affect the experience for all other players and im sure it's not enjoyable for you either, its not fun to have someone DC in the beginning of the match as it leaves the team with no chance
Sometimes in life, it is helpful to look at what has went on before us, before we make any steps ourselves.

That could be considered. I know I might like to know that before playing against someone! Especially the teabagging part. Warning: I teabag.

I dont think they need it, no.
Real life things come first, and no one has to justify themselves to others if they have to go afk or dc.
But aren't they being a little selfish, knowing that something is going to potentially interupt them but not letting the other players know?

MD or DM = Direct Message. If i have people in my friend list i can't chat with them if they are not from PC.
Oh okay sorry was just trying to understand.
-
@tippy2k2 said:
I doubt anyone would ever use them. There's always bound to be some players who don't care but I imagine the vast majority would just lobby dodge someone if they know there's a good chance they're going to DC. Who is going to label themselves as a possible DC (even if they have a very good reason) if it's going to take them forever to get into a game?
Exactly. And how is that fair to them, for trying to be fair to others if they were to fill it out?
-
@Sepex said:
I think it would be abused. A labelled DC to cover up a rage quit.
I'm not saying the label makes it unpunishable.
-
@puerco said:
Guys i don't understand how lobby chat or MD with friends could be toxic. Toxicity is 100% in the end-game chat (and no, you are not obligated to read or write in endgame-chat)
I think that everybody should have the chance to use the chat: whoever wants to do and whoever doesn't want to do it, don't do it.
Comunication is crusial to win, "toxicity" is not an excuse, if it were for that no video game should have chat. But, we are here and this is a multiplayer-social game, so, how can i invite my console-friends to my discord if i can't write them?
You want chat so you can invite people to your discord?
I don't know what MD stands for so I can't comment on that. But I do know I am 100% thankful when I see the other players are on another platform and I will not be getting messages from them.

Who cares for Grade? You already end up Iri 1 at the end of the season pretty easy, at least on one side.
I mean, I've never actually tried on the survivor side so I couldn't confirm this.
-
@jesterkind said:
I think this is exactly what the developers wanted, and exactly why we didn't actually know how the MMR system worked at first.
I don't think you're supposed to care about your MMR. It's not a ranked ladder or anything- it's supposed to be puttering away in the background while you focus on emblem scores or other personal win conditions/tests of skill.
Ah, well if this is what they intended they did a well fine job then! Thank you for your response.
-
@Laluzi said:
I care more about the MMR because it dictates what my experience playing the game will be. If it's too low, I'll be massacring confused newbies, or getting massacred by confused newbies that crouch in the corners of the map all game. If it's too high, I'll be constantly wrangling with Haddonfield/Badham/The Game sweat squads and I'll be stuck with Nurse/Blight Simulator every survivor match.
Getting BP once a month is nice, but I'd rather have a good experience the rest of the month, you know?
This makes sense. This is why I made the thread. I was having trouble seeing why caring about MMR would be a good thing and you perfectly summed it up. Thank you.

Usually when I play killer I average about 2ks a match. Ever since I started using The Twins I've been getting nothing but 4ks and I've had survivors message me having no idea how to counter them. Do you guys think it's just because their pick rate is low and survivors have no idea what to do or they're overpowered?
The Twins for me took a minute to get used to that playstyle but once I did man, they are a force to be reckoned with!
My friend just started playing the game and his most hated killer is the Twins.
Not sure if that really answers your question but thats my perspective.
What build(s) you using? I'm currently using:
A Nurse's Calling/BBQ/Oppression/Brutal Strength

Nemesis:
Hex: Pimento/ Plaything/Ruin/Thrill of the Hunt
Its so strong! Btw speaking of Nemesis theres been an increase of Nemesis players! I go against him more than any other killer these days. Hes good but it has to be more than that.
It is probably because his addons are getting ready to be nerfed I would guess.
