As a killer i do agree that the iri heads must be reworked. Maybe give an instadown from a large distance, thus rewarding the skilled players. I am sure i am not the frist one to come up with this though.

They tried that with death slinger. Becomes useless on small maps like the game. I could see of you tried something like that reward the quick shots. Something along the lines of...

"After having a hatchet at full chatge for .75 seconds it becomes a one hit hatchest, but after 1.75, seconds it returns to a normal single hit hatchet."

Which rewards a long shot at full charge, while also making it useful at close range if you aquire your target at close range. And on top of that mixing it with other add-ons like horse shoe or Babooshka, you can use it at loops still if you pre charge and make the right read on the survivor.

yes.. i really think slowly but surely its just a manipulation of people who say that.

Scott jund started that (i think) saying "Using Desicisve strike together with Unbreakable is just a small pp thing"

well lets start with this topic then.

usually im not using meta perks. if Q&Q and headon is a meta perk thats a different stroy.

and since im not using META perks that is what happens.

50 games getting tunneled, hard slugged or just facecamped when the killer knows he doesnt have any meta perks.

killers also love hard tunnel when there is no obsession. so what is your point with "small pp" tell me?

playing freddy with ultra slow down isnt small pp.

playing spirit with stridor and strong addons isnt small pp.

using insta downs with killer is not small pp.

what is this dumb talk with small pp? you tunnel = you deserve to get ds'ed

you hard slug you deserve to get people with unbreakable.

you do both at the same time, you deserve both.

just because you dont immideately pick someone up and wait 60 seconds does that make you not a tunnler? ofc you tunnel, with the difference you wait 60 seconds.

you want emphaty? stop with the smallpp talk to play the victim. first stop with your scummy playstyle and maybe people stop using that "smallpp build"

and do not forget "killers playstyle make these perks META" nobody would use these perk when killers would have a little bit of emphaty.

i played for a year with no meta perks. i had enough mercy for killers.

from now on im a small pp survivor.

    Dog, you are dumb.

"Small pp build is okay because killers slug, and lillers camp"

Remember when MoM released? Yeah? Remember how broken it was and everyone had it every game because of how broken it was? Thats because strong perks just get used, and commonly you need to play ######### because of those strong perks, being a killer main, I hate slugging, I hate tunneling, I hate running ruin and Undying, but I have to run those two perks to stop people from just rushing the ######### out of me. I'd like to use perk builds that are so out of the ordinary it makes a survivor say.

    "Territorial Imperative? The #########?"

But instead i have to run a slow down perk to make up for that, but then you get this perfect perk set combo, that allows you to just run up to someone on a hook, go down than either stand up, or get picked up and still stand up, and still get the unhook and you both run free because one of them has borrowed and is just body blocking in a door, than I down him because he was body blocking. But wait, I can't pick him up either. Why? Because he ALSO has DS and low and behold 24 seconds later heyyyy he stood up using unbreakable. And I STILL can't pick him up if I downed his camped crawling corpse because he STILL has DS.

Meanwhile, while im trying to deal with this mess of stupid, there are still 2 people doing a Gen, and 2 people got away scott free unless I play ######### and just camp the dude I slugged. And wait the full 60 seconds, and the way you make 60 seconds sound makes me think you don't know how long 60 seconds is in that game, 60 seconds is a gen and a half with 2 people working on them. 60 seconds is 3 gens at 60-70ish% percent 60 seconds is time that a killer does not have in a match to spend ######### with one person because they have ds and unbreakable.

The devs aren't killing their game. They're trying to normalize every part of the game to really boring levels of power. Part of it is the community's fault cuz both sides keep calling for nerfs for anything sightly powerful but the devs also look at statistics and go well this is better than everything else so we'll nerf it down.

The problem with that is in a game like that, your statistics can be so skewed, and wrong that there are so many factors that come in, and than they look at straight up ideas rather than over lining reasons.

    For example

Dead Hard: that's in every high rank survivor game, along with sprint burst. But it hasn't been nerfed, or made worse it's still strong as ever.

Old Ruin: it bullied new survivors cause they couldn't land greats, but it was in so many games not because it was so strong but because it was a passive slow down, that did the job if they made a mistake.

But now Pop Goes the Weasel is in the works to get a nerf, because it "lasts too long".

Than these 3 new killer perks are questionable, at most oppression is alright but not great, but 2 of the 3 surv perks are pretty good.

Than DS got it's "nerf" which still does it's job at end game, and if anything makes the killer waist more time because if he slugs you than he has to wait a minute to pick you up, or you get picked up anyways. Which means survs just use it early game to bum rush hooks and kill momentum.

But than we have trapper who still needs help, we have piggy who needs a ton of help.

    Because that happens often....

I will start tracking perks/addons of people I go against because...being 100% honest here... I have never had the scenario in which you described to my knowledge. I have not had a 0k in a very long time. Maybe we are of different mindsets, but I don't need a 4k..3k..or even a 2k to feel like I have done well. I justify my "win" based off my score and not how many survivors are left.

I can also honestly say that when I do SWF... the only thing we really do is make sure no redundant perks like two people running Kindred... otherwise we are just there to support one another to try and escape. Then again... I am not red rank... merely purple. I play the game for fun...both as a killer and survivor.. what determines if I am having fun is not whether I escape as a survivor or 4k as a killer, but rather did I have fun...did I do well points wise... etc. I am probably older than 95% of the players in this game and maybe that is why I am not so bent on "winning" and more about the fun to be had.

See that's the part you're missing, part of the fun is the competition in a game, madden, and sports game yes their fun but they play for the competitiveness, which is a massive part of the game for a lot of people. Competitiveness, sportsmanship, all make a part of what is considered fun in a game.

And having fun, for me is a balanced and well treated game, not dealing with teams who try and specifically abuse control perks, that makes anyone else other than wraith and ghost face useless due to stealth mechanics.

Like play as trapper and go against a team of OoO, your power is useless and you're just setting traps at loops where you're being looped than they just run to another, and your chases are already down to nothing but useless.

Then go against an OoO team as deathslinger, they're running away before you even get there to take abuse of you're 110% movement speed.

It's not fun to be constantly abused by SWF, and builds that are so broken that you might as well accept your defeat and chill in a corner cause no matter how hard you try, you aren't going to do that good, and get anything above a 1k.

I'll say it again, running around and not being able to do anything without the team knowing your every move and running from your every move isn't fun, and having to run an extra 15 seconds just to start a chase against the 3 guys on a gen who started running the same direction because they all see you coming.

And in terns of being your "that happens often" a pink mori can only happen as long as they have a mori, so only a few times, where ######### perks combos can happen infinitely and are only made worse by add-ons and items

Why is it every time someone defends a survivor "issue" they immediately go to the "Well SWFs are...." etc etc. You do realize that people play this game solo as a survivor right? My first 100 hours or so of playing this game I never once played with anyone else as a survivor. My current gameplay consists of:

    Solo Survivor: 25%-35%

SWF Survivor: 10%-15% and that is not a full SWF most of the time just me and 1 other person.

Killer: 50%-65% (So yes I consider myself a killer main...so your assumption that I hate killers or am being childish is frankly rubbish and a fallacious attack on my character without cause.

The victim mindset that is perpetuated by declaring every (or even the majority of) bad round(s) as a killer as the result of a SWF is simply a mechanism players use to justify their loss and is in no way based in an absolute reality. Are their SWFs... absolutely. Are SOME SWFs overpowered...absolutely. But I can also tell you that solo gameplay as a survivor is tough as hell; especially in the purple/red ranks.

Calling out bad behavior and temper tantrums is not childish... it is realistic and needed in this community. Blaming others consistently for your loss is about the most childish thing one can do. I learned a long time ago that...guess what... you will not win every game...you will lose...sometimes when you lose it is your fault...and that is ok. If you have to play a game and win - you should question why you play the game. I'm not saying don't be competitive.. bring it on! What I am saying is stop making excuses, accusing others of unfair gameplay, and grow up.

The rhetoric/vitriol on these forums is ridiculous, but pales into the absolute garbage chat in end game...where the majority of killers nowadays simple tells the survivors off for being in a perceived SWF etc etc. It got so bad that in the last two months I have actually collected data on end game chat - 73.6% of comments by KILLERS in end game chat has included at least one disparaging profanity that is either racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, and/or homophobic. I have reported...wait for it - 116 players in two months for these comments. This toxicity is what is ruining this game...not any perceived injustices of perks/addons. The forums are just a pale reflection of this childish behavior...which is sad.

The reasons why SWF is so often brought up is because it is an imbalance in the spectrum, and the reason why people complain about is because it's a loss that's OUTSIDE your control, you can't control the use of comms, you can't control 4 man small pp builds, you can't control 4 man OoO builds, and all of those things have such a heavy advantage on you as a player that sometimes no matter how hard you try, 4 ds's, 4 OoO's and 4 DeadHards, are just something so far out of your control that you can't stop that it loses competitiveness.

You bring up competitiveness like its just about winning, no competition derives from a handfull things, and one of those things is a balanced and equal experience where one side doesn't have an advantage over the other. Mori's were a great counter to the 4 man OoO, or the 4 man toxic DS squad with BT, same way that keys were a great counter to having a Mori, or wraith camping the hatch before closing it in your face. Competition derives from balance, and competitive people get very upset when someone starts tilting the scales away from that balance.

I am a killer main, i have over 2k hours, maybe 300 of those I spent as solo surv, 350 maybe in my usual swf dbd crew. The rest, was purely killer, I strive to be the best killer I can be, i play every killer, I'm trying to really hone my skills with the nurse after neglecting her for so long. And I can confidently say I have the skills to take on most matches and at least get a 3 unless there is a hatch leave.

But when I get put up against an OoO team with 2 keys and 2 flashlights, and one key doesn't have a ring on it so if they die it stays and I'm struggling to keep up with an entire team watching me the entire game, pressure gens when they know I'm coming from 72 meters away and no matter how hard I try, or what new tricks I come up with to try and elude their watching eyes, there's not much I can do but accept defeat. And that, is where competition, and competitiveness no longer exists because its not an even playing field, because its not a fair fight, and that all happens because a 4 man can coordinate add-ons items and perks before a match even starts to ruin the experience of the killer, because it's "hilarious".

And if I play a mori because it's obvious af its a 4 man swf bully squad, and they had intentions to do that to me than they deserved it, but now we can't even do that, now we really have to accept defeat while the other side of the spectrum is allowed to run free and continue bullying.

No hes not the complaining in this thread is absolutely childish.

Why is being upset with game changes, that negatively effect one side of the spectrum while leaving an advantage for the other side of the spectrum, considered childish? It's called being upset because its balanced one direction, and not equally across both playing field.

About time. Moris are game breakers. Especially the ebony which is what I play against most often. I have been killed by moris far more than I have used a key to escape. Moris had an easier prerequisite to meet than keys. It is more even now and they don’t even have to adjust the keys.

But also I can tell you why, killers especially will tunnel the ######### out of a survivor to get rid of a key because all a key does it reward survivors to playing terribly, just like a mori.

  • @discocat said:

Well truly what you need for a key escape of at least 3 is, at least 1 survivor does 1 gen, and one dies. All a key does at the end with 4 people is guarantees 4 escape. Because now the killer has to fond hatch to stop it or patrol doors to stop it, not much of a winning play there.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The whining and hyperbole in this thread is a great example of the childish chat that permeates after games. I have found as a survivor that when Moris are used... the killers liked to puff their chests in chat to prove how great of a killer they were for getting 4 people hooked and a 4k - while still earning less BP than most of the survivors lol.

For all you threatening to quit playing: Bye.

For those of you saying you will now DC when you suspect SWF: Eyeroll - you are what's wrong with the game...not the Mori change.

Or are you being the exact same thing that you're trying to call out? Childish? Yeah SWF did save the game from extinction, but in terms of balance its extremely unbalanced and unfair. So do you just hate killers, or are you being childish and ignoring what is actually a problem.

So i disagree i dont see how keys are nearly as op as moris. Its sad that i would go into a game the killer gets me down then my team saves me then i get tunneled than moried thats 5MINS of playtime and wasnt nearly as fun for me. Yet a key with all four alive have to have all the gens done the only persons fault is the killers for not killing them off quicker with three alive they need to do 4. And if its only 1 regardless of key they can escape through hatch before you close it so i dont know why people say if moris get changed keys need them

Because if every one person does their damn job ONCE, it only takes one death to let 3 leave.

And that's not an offerings that's an item that is free to use and actually has add-ons to keep it from breaking on death and even when you jump in the hatch and is a lower rarity than an actual mori.

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

Glad this was done without announcement. And to the users above, keys and moris are not the same thing. I’m glad the moris got changed. This isn’t tit for tat.

Mori's are free wins, keys are free escapes, mori's can win a game, keys will win you the game, both have requirments of doing at least one thing to get the mori, or to get the hatch spawn.

Keys are tit for tat, but instead you can get your free escape from a box, imagine finding a mori in a Locker.

  • So like...why would that even be used? When you can just hook them and kill them anyways, so that's like hooking someone twice to voluntarily loose the extra points and loose the ability to pip.

That's like having the find the hatch twice to leave out the gates the 3rd time.

So mori's are useless, and keys are still free escapes. Cool.

  • My surv and killer matches at rank 1 take about 30 seconds to find a game

TLDR: The Twins are an interesting example of what causes killers to adopt strategies that make survivor experience worse (camping, slugging and tunneling). When a killer is too slow to compete with how fast gens can go if survivors just hold m1, these tactics become way more prevalent.

    ________________________________________________________________________________

So after a day, people are starting to realize that because the Twins are far too slow to keep up with gen speed, the only way to play them effectively is to massively slug and camp, I haven't necessarily seen excessive tunneling.

The reason this is interesting is because it shows a point.

Why do killers slug, camp and tunnel? As much as some survivors like to think that these tactics are adopted exclusively out of malice or a massive lack of skill, I think the issue is more complicated.

Killers do all of this, because it makes the match easier on them, because the normal "patrol, chase, hook" cycle for 12 hooks is completely and utterly unviable with most killers against survivors that do gens. And that's literally all it takes them. If they sit on a thing and hold M1, most killers are going to have a hard time, some of the roster cannot compete at all.

With the survivor objective being the way it currently is, chases become cumbersome, mistakes are not afforded to the killer at all, which then creates a dilemma in the killer's mind. Is chasing this new survivor even worth it, or should I focus on taking this one survivor down and protecting my territory? Should I even try to go to gens when I know I don't have time to patrol, chase and hook, or should I just stay here in my corner defending what I already have? Should I bother trying to give everyone fair chases, or should I just try to keep them all immobilized on the floor so they occupy their teammates time and I can eventually down them all?

When killers are not confident in their potential to play normally, because the character itself doesn't have the tools to let their skill overcome the game pace, or when they know for a fact that they don't have time to play normally, they will inevitably resort to whatever tactics can tip the scales to their favor, which usually makes the experience worse for survivors, because the only thing the killer can do is try to deprive them of gameplay, instead of engaging with them in gameplay. This happens even to the best killer players, or people that are considered generally as very very good.

The Twins is a perfect example of a killer that doesn't have time to play normally. They have decent chase potential with Victor, so all they do is deprive survivors of gameplay by slugging everyone and camping.

The solution to this is not to mega punish camping, tunneling and slugging, as some survivors believe. Doing that will either generate resentment from killers towards survivors, or it will just drive all killers that don't feel they have the tools to deal with game pacing away from the game entirely.

I believe the right solution is to improve game pacing, as well as incentivize going for multiple chases against multiple people, and then we can give survivors the tools to deal with tactics like slugging, camping and tunneling.

There have been a ridiculous number of ideas people have given to resolve the issue of games going to fast, as well as incentivizing multiple chases. This is not the point of this thread. But i believe it's important to recognize the cause of certain less than desirable behaviors so we can then tackle them effectively, instead of just endlessly crying about the most obvious thing in front of us.

Now, of course, some people may think that these kinds of tactics are fine, and that's a fair position to have, but it's undeniable that a sizeable chunk of survivors are very frustrated by them, and it is true that there are killers (myself included) who would rather the game allowed them the time and tools to consistently outplay their opponents over and over again, instead of resorting to tactics that limit gameplay just to have a chance.

Just my 2 cents on the matter... if anyone cares.

I think you're kinda missing what the twins is, using her for an example of why slugging and camping exists is like saying trapper is why camping exists.

And not quite, but sort of. Killers have tools just some tools aren't quite as good as other tools. Its kinda like a rusty shovel, compared to a new one. One gets the job done better and faster.

The twins, due to her design are only good for that, she suffers from 115% m1 killer syndrome. Her power isn't threatening enough to healthy survivors and is only useful against hurt ones. So the strategy due to victor speed is hurt as many, than just use your increased speed to jockey slap everyone till they die. Which is why if you kick the baby, you give yourself a great amount of time to try and get ######### done if you're injured, simply because she's just...an m1 killer with a baby that has some strength against injured survivors.

It's not resorting to tricks because they can't keep up, that's just simply...how poorly she was designed.

  • @RoboMojo said:

Is it really that important to win? I mean I get it, it feels good to get that 4K or have a flawless 4 man escape but c'mon, winning isn't that important. Like what, if you don't get that 4K are the Devs gonna shoot your mom or something? Otherwise I don't understand why you care THAT much about winning. Was it really necessary to slug that baby dweet until he bled out so that you could get your 4K? Probably not, lol. I mean there comes a point where trying to win becomes a chore. No one could enjoy slugging the third person and searching for two minutes to find the 4th and meanwhile as survivor, doing all the gens in three minutes and escaping without even so much as seeing the killer couldn't possibly be fun right? Prioritizing winning over fun makes every loss sting that bit more and every win feeling kind of shallow if the majority of the match was boring. Am I missing some secret thrill to sweating or something? It sounds more stressful then fun to me.

Its called be competitive while trying to keep a sportsmanship like attitude.

I mean, if you're getting looped and windowed that often, I would argue that it's a matter of tactics. If you're relying on that extra speed boost to catch folks, it might be time to adapt and improve. It's not like survs can counter like in a game such as Friday the 13th, so sadly looping is the only cheesy thing people can do to help themselves and their team. I'm not saying I like it, but it's a trade off.

Most window loops, are solidly strong jungle gyms that unless you have at least BL1 they can still reach a pallet if you read them correctly. BL isn't used to quite used to just for catching chases but it allows for you to break a really safe jungle gym with a correct read.

BL would let you punish a surv for reading them correctly. Without it things like deadhard and such to get to next pallet really came in handy as it can get tou just that distance you need

This, this is why survivors end up running the crutches perks and play scummy towards the killer. This can’t be compared to keys (unpopular opinion btw). Yes, they are both very strong but the killer can just do this and get you out of the game. For a key to come in play, the survivors have to do their objective, gens. The amount of Moris I have been seeing recently is truly disgusting (not sure why). Maybe, this is one the reasons why players don’t play this game for very long, this is not fun.

Moris really don’t deserve a rework, they deserve to be removed from the game. The same thing can be said about keys. Both are really unhealthy for the game as both make the game end faster than intended and are probably the most unbalanced thing in the game at the moment. If you really want these things to stay in the game, you are probably not a good player yourself.

    https://youtu.be/-iO6oaJ9UtY

(Don’t bully me for running 2 exhaustion perks, I have nothing on Cheryl :))

I can give you a quick explanation of why this happens, a killer never starts out with a Mori their first game being a Mori, ever. Mori's are used after someone gets that 4man swf which play like scum but, that's just from my expierence. Now if you take the rolls and flip them same can be said for survs some survs play scummy cause their last killer played like a face campy butt face. Which no one likes.

Scum is scum unfortunately but sadly from my expierence scum starts at the 4 man, not the killer. Keys force Mori's to counter a key but it's also how its looked at what was the tru3talent quote, "Toxic killers are shunned but toxic survivor's are praised".

  • @C3Tooth said:

    1. How do you know its a SWF? Killer should not have to pay alot of time checking profiles.
    2. How do you know they will be toxic?

Very easy actually, very similar names or names that are like this clan view type thing like "Jagged(Ex)" then Slashymcstabber(Ex)"

Or they all pick the exact same character with the exact same cosmetic set. And even if they aren't SWF after that second one they should be treated as such.

  • @Erk said:

So, this is pretty common. A killer camps a survivor so he can guarantee at least 1 kill. I thought this was not wrong and I got camped like this quite a lot. I still thought this was OK since the killer doesn't want to depip, which makes sense. Then I watched an Otzdarva video in which he played Wraith. All the gens were done and he had 1 person on hook. Instead of camping, he continued playing normally and because of that, he got a 4K. This really changed my mind. I don't think camping for 1k isn't wrong but if you do it, you might just waste a 4K.

You MIGHT waste it, or you might lose it. It's kinda a gamble, you camp for that one to black or you take the chance in losing a pip for going for a 4.

I personally know my skill as killer can sit in reds, and the only way I'm gonna get better is by analyzing and studying new ways to play, and perk building. For each killer (felt really proud when my death slinger build was the same one that Ttu3 used) but I've began just taking a loss, if all 4 get out. I played bad, or there was just someone on that team who outplayed me. (Or sometimes I get that sweaty 4 man swf, that has OOO, or runs the meta Unbreakabill, DS, Borrowed, and Adren. And finishes all their gens in like 6 to 7 minutes)

But I would much rather, keep fighting to the end and take an L than camp to keep my rank, if I lost my 4 pips at rank 2, I dont deserve to be rank 2. Not gonna keep that rank 2 by sitting there and keeping a guy on a hook to make sure I at least black pip.

You think I want to run DS, Borrowed Time Sprint Burst and Iron Will? Hell no. I want to run fun perks, but the second I do, I get tunneled, moried, and camped into Oblivion.

But killers are forced to hse those perks you display because of that, and you probabaly get camped, slugged and tunneled because killers have to kill as fast as possible to have a chance because the entire team might be running meta.

Survs, dictate the killer meta per killer. And killers just...try their best.

I literally said I understand that with both sides as the wait time increases so does the rank range.... but there is absolutely no reason why a red rank should ever get paired with a rank 20.

I find it hard to believe that out of the entire population playing on the east coast server that it had to resort to pairing a brand new killer with red ranks at prime time. Sorry you cannot change my mind on this. Matchmaking is busted.

Yeah, than obviously your level of ignorance and lack of understanding for the situation, yes the matchmaking is probably flawed in some ways. But just because you refuse to believe it doesn't mean it doesn't happen, my survivor main friends with rank 18 killers would sit in lobby queues for 45 minutes during Halloween and 2× BP events. And would go up against rank 2 survivors, even cases with rank 1 survivor teams

Just because you refuse to believe something does not make it true, and if you actually understand this like you claim you wouldn't have came to forum pages coming about it to be a complaint.

For someone with 1900 hours to the game I very, VERY rarely see this happen. KILLERS would see it but I can even talk to new players and explain how to fix it as fast as possible, and the moment they hit rank 15 match times start up in a matter of seconds and they go up against people similar to the rank.

I am playing solo... my Q time was less than a minute.

Why are there 2 red rank survivors matched with a rank 20? I understand that with both sides as the wait time increases so does the rank range.... but there is absolutely no reason why a red rank should ever get paired with a rank 20. Ever. Is there literally no one in yellow, brown even green ranks that can join a rank 20 lobby on the north east coast at 8pm - where the majority of us under stay at home orders?

This is a epic failure. Killer has less than 50 hours in the game.. and here I am in their lobby. I've seen large rank variances... but this is unacceptable -- and unfair to everyone involved. I didn't have fun... and neither did the poor killer. I literally did gens and left because I didn't want to farm/bm an obviously new killer that had no idea what they were doing.

    Do better BHVR.

Well...also your way of thinking is kinda wrong...you're the survivor your wait times don't determine your killers.

The killers wait time determines the survivors, he coulda been waiting 34 minutes for all we know.

This is a good example of how bad the Killer emblem system is. You play well and your score shows it yet according to the game you didn't even meet the requirement to get a pip. I think what irritates me more about this bad emblem system is i can guarantee the player on 20k pipped and the player on 13k most likely black pipped.

Essentially the game is telling me i played roughly the same as that bottom player which is insane due to the drastic score difference. 1,900 score away from the max and to be honest if i did get that the game might have barely just given me a pip.

This is why Killers slug for the 4k, because it is potential their rank up can be easily robbed from them. If the devs fixed the emblem system so it's fair Killers wouldn't need to slug for the 4k

To be fair this can also be asked "Why do 4 survivors always want out?"

    Because...it's winning.

Welcome to DBD home of the infamous tunneling and camping strategies where killers complain about gen speed but don’t want to leave hooks 😂

Imagine being a survivor who complains about the only viable strat against sweaty SWF's.

When this game works as intended, it can be a blast. But I just can't anymore with this matchmaking system. The B.S. that new players have to contend with is ridiculous. Here are two examples from tonight's games. It doesn't take much to realize why many new players like myself are writing this game off altogether.

The first one makes sense after a long enough wait time there should be a 6 rank difference between the survivors and killers to try and find you a match. The 2nd one must have been after a decent wait time to follow that.

Once you break out of white ranks it'll balance out a little better.

  • @DelsKibara said:

Wait wait wait, hear me out for a second here.

Before you scream entitled Survivor main, or call me every word in the urban dictionary, please hear me out.

I have reason to believe playing Killer is easy for the time being, and yes I know how absurd that sounds. But please, like I said, hear me out. (If you don't want to read the text-wall, I added a tl;dr)

I've been gone for a couple week's hiatus from DBD and I finally came back to play with Deathslinger a while ago. A while back I thought that playing Killer would have me sweating every game, since that was my experience prior to today. Which is why I took that break because I couldn't take playing DBD anymore.

But when I came back, obviously I was lower ranked but the survivors I faced just felt... Easier. Playing Killer felt more like a breeze, even in Green and Purple ranks where I feel the survivors there are more brutal than the survivors in Red Ranks. I even got a chance to try out and succeeding with killers I don't normally play as including Legion and Oni.

That is not to say playing Killer itself is easier, it's just that I think the skill level of Survivors are getting worse overtime. I noticed this too whenever I play solo Survivor. My teammates tend to either leave me to die on a hook because they need to self-care, or they do risky saves without Borrowed Time. It's getting rather frustrating to see someone tap a gen knowing full well the killer has Pop Goes the Weasel and is about to hook another person. It's like my teammates cannot preserve pallets and make easy deadzones for killer to down you with.

These survivors are becoming more and more common, even people who use OoO in SWF teams feel like they're getting easier to deal with. And no I'm not talking out of my butt, I've faced multiple survivors with OoO who suspiciously look like they are in-comms (going for saves the moment I chase someone indoor, or working on generators far away from the obvious spots they would normally look out for, heck even coordinate on where my Hex totems are.)

There are times of course when I feel like my teammates are competent, last game I had as Survivor someone with Unbreakable helped turned a 4k NOED win for the killer to a NoK all escape win for the Survivor. That's brilliant. And that is the kind of plays I would expect in the rank I am usually in (Rank 6). But those times are very few and far between.

Take this game as me as Ghostface for example. I got looped for 4 minutes because the window and pallet spawns were not in my favour and the Feng Min who ran me around knew how to use it effectively. I had the sunk cost fallacy and just said "Screw it, if I am getting a kill it's from this Feng Min."

But this is the end result instead:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/431/CGAMYLKUCRBD.png

4k. I hardly believed it myself. And this wasn't because I was a godly Ghostface, I actually got looped for 4 minutes yet I still got a 4k. Because her teammates didn't do any generators. They followed her around trying to rescue her to get unhooked. They fought with each other in the endgame chat but I didn't censor their names and I'd rather not be banned on the Forums.

With that said, I can see why Killer is still stressful for a lot of people. It does demand you to split your attention between 4 Survivors and be able to keep track of all of them. Not to mention with the added pressure of generators popping left and right which doesn't help with your mentall psyche when playing as Killer.

But. Right now I think Killer is easy purely because the Survivors themselves, or at least Survivors in the Western Australia region are not as good as their rank should be. I mean I literally just got off a game as Legion where I double pipped against a 2-man SWF with OoO (I know it's 2-man because those two simultaneously gave up and let me down them.)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/715/KJ9LSV6ZT7Z7.png

And I suck at Legion. I missed a lot of my Feral Frenzy swings that game.

    TL;DR

I think Survivors are not able to keep up with Killers in rank. Both from my experiences as a Solo Survivor and a Killer. I know rank doesn't mean anything, but the fact this is becoming so common is making me concerned about the kind of players Survivors that are becoming common in high ranks. I'm not asking Survivors to git gud or get better immediately, that would be unreasonable. But I do hope this isn't becoming more common, because the challenge of playing Killer is to juggle 4 Survivors at once. It's a 4v1. Not a 1v1v1v1v1, which is what it feels like.

I'm not making this thread to incite hate or antagonize anyone. But I am mainly concerned the kind of survivors I play with and fight against are making the other side easier than it should be. The challenge is gone when the survivors do suicide hook dives and continually run into you.

I hope you'll understand where I am coming from, I don't think playing Killer itself is easy. As it is hard to pick up on the go, especially when you do meet up with survivors who know what they are doing. But right now, at least in the WA Region, I feel like Killer is not as hard as it should be.

See, i understand what you're getting at but its not that survivors are getting worse it's that survivor ranking speed is so fast and braindead that a huge influx of players that have never heard of spooky Micheal and his see through walls ability at Teir 1 even existed.

I've even ran into RED ranks who didn't understand how legions frenzy worked. Again it's not survivors are getting easier, it's that the higher ranks are being flooded with people who shouldn't be there. People who can't loop, can't mind game the killer, don't have a base understanding of how killers even function are making it to ranks 1-5.

Now regarding your SWF, yeah that as killer is sweat mode galore cause you have to keep pressure everywhere and right now they love to play the most broken maps with god loops or are just huge leaving 110% killers and certain 115% with no way to pressure without making a 20 second run to the other side of the map.

I see where you're coming from, but also where you're coming from is the wrong direction. You're looking at this the same way Ruin was nerfed

Ruin wasn't in 80% of the games because it was strong, it was in 80% of the games because it was the only delay hex strong enough to slow the game down. But if you got a team that could land greats your match was done in 5 minutes.

Killer isn't easier, it's just good killers going against people who shouldn't be rank 1-5.

Predator is an awful perk on literally all Killers. The tighter scratch marks mean they generally wont show up on walls or trees, you you wont see scratches unless you're right on their ass anyway

In a chase sense, I think it actually benefits her pretty strongly, yeah the thing that sucks is you can't find them as easy. But that's compensated by things like BBQ, and what ever other 4th perk you feel ya want. I actually use it on spirit quite a bit and the thing I really like about it is it can really tell yoi weather or nor they stopped sooner to begin walking, or when or where they took a turn or if there was also another survivor to keep from jumbling up scratch marks all over each other making it a mess to find one another.

From my use it has its benefits and it's downsides on her, but I've also gained a good bit of benefit from it.

I’m gonna start this off by saying that you aren’t wrong when you say that it’s bad for both sides. But when it doesn’t work the way it should, the result is 10 times worse for survivor. The survivor gets exposed, effectively cutting chase time in HALF. When it doesn’t work for killer they have to gasp chase without an instadown at 115% movement speed. The horror.

You mean kinda like Trapper? One of the worst killers right now?

    LOL WHAT.

So Ruin Nerf was a Pro killer change? How about enduring not being able to counter DS is that also pro-killer? Or what about when bloodlust got changed to take longer to get? Or freddies original nerf after release? Spirit nerf? Nurse nerf?

But I guess we'll ignore. DS being guaranteed its 6 second stun, more pallet spawns, maps with more god pallet spawns, or how about when cool downs got decreased for exhaustion perks?

You're either new and don't actually read the patch notes, or are just ignorant and think that "GoD lO0pS aRE Fa1R".

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

I've tried to main spirit for the past month, and imo, she is hard to master. Because you can't see the survivors or their auras while phasing, you need to rely on audio and small details of, for example, grass whilst predicting where the survivor will go.

Though, recently when I played a normal spirit game, I won a really close match with a swf (1 gen left and it was a 16 minute game) and the survivors kept abusing the endgame chat because, and I quote:

"Stop playing such a skilless character and go play a normal killer, you rank 6 boosted ape cun*"

It seems like on the survivor's perspective, spirit is just a free win once you start playing her, not even try to practice. All her add-ons are "op" and her power is "completely broken and needs a rework". I'll be honest, these survivors could lose against any killer because they were ######### around instead of doing their objective and such, so I don't understand, should I not rely on their mistakes and win? Should I just let them leave?

So, my question is, for you, as a player, do you think that spirit is completely skilless? Please let me know down below.

    Cheers!

See here's my issues with spirit that destroyed her skill cap. Stridor, and Predator. Tighter sprint trails and they always moan and such. Literally if they make noise it destroys the kill scap.

Its not like nurse, where nurse is about constant prediction, and just having to read a survivor and react, where the spirit is "With these two perks, and pop and BBQ, you can now almost 4k every game even if they bring the things that counter her like iron will"

Now of they have someone with Q&Q that's a whole new ballgame, but as a seasoned killer it's just about remembering who has it and what mind games they would play with it, as did they jump the pallet or bait the window. It turns into a lot of 50/50 chances that you can spike to a 75/25 leaning killer side with the right movements.

  • @migaloo said:

Constant teaming and griefing in public servers. I started taking screenshots today because I got tired of seeing it.

As you can see I am being revived by my 2 team mates while the killer sits there and waits to down me immediately. I can't control my character or do anything. I can only AFK or get banned for leaving.

    https://imgur.com/a/b5xaeIq

On this one I am hiding and it's to the top left, you see the myers standing there staring at the downed survivor who is being revived by the other 2. This is my observing someone else being griefed. When they got tired of griefing that person, they looked for me to grief me too.

    https://imgur.com/a/4Le2xoW

If I leave these games, I'm banned. If I AFK, I am breaking a rule. But I can't play the game normally, because I obviously can't 1v4 as a survivor. So I have to sit through this griefing until the timer runs down.

Why am I not allowed to leave these games when people obviously aren't playing properly, and even worse they are trying to ruin the game for other people?

I realize there is a report button, but obviously this behavior isn't punished otherwise I wouldn't run into it every day.

You could easily get an intern to sift through reports for free. I bet you could get thousands of applications from people in this forum that would do that for free. what excuse is there to allow this behavior?

Here's a tip, if you're down and don't want to get picked up. Hold the sprint button. They can't heal you if you do. Secondly teaming and such in my opinion is fine it's no different than letting the last person escape. (You're only mad when it's not you that's given freedom).

But if they intentionally try and bully you, yeah you can report them. You can do what ever ya like. Survivors can counter other survivors. If you can't br healed the killer will just kill you or the other survivors.

Like as a killer should I be banned for knowing that the dude I never saw the entire game and he never worked on a gen. Giving the dude hatch and getting him to tell me where the dude sitting in the corner and walking around the entire game is at, who some how made it to the last 2 gens and died with only 2k points earned. No I teamed because I know damn well the dude I downed earned the hatch not the rank 4 who hid the entire game waiting for hatch to spawn not even helping his team.

I guess the few times I've played killer I never took winning too seriously. You can easily still rack up like 40k BP even with only one downed survivor. For me the fun in playing killer is the same kind of fun you get when you work at a haunted house on Halloween. It's fun to scare people a little sometimes and I think that's where the fun in being killer mostly is. TBF I did have some survivors teabag me at the exit gates once and didn't really appreciate it especially because I gave them a real clean match ie no camping/tunneling/basement hooks and no toxic/op perks etc but teabaging isn't anything I would ever do as survivor anyway because it's pretty immature. Maybe in a private custom match with friends as a joke but never to some random.

Being a killer main, and playing for the rank rather than the BP at this point i have all the perks and such I'm just trying to get better as killer. Hence why I have been playing every killer from nurse to bubba. I get trashed for wiffing or get trashed for using an end game bubba.

T-bagged or annoyed by people just trying to be hot ######### or something of the sort. Grant it, it doesn't get to me how it used to but now that I have dealt with it so long I just begin to try and outplay the opposition. And I began to take pride to getting hate. But I will still never forget when I was at my 200 hour mark. Being t-bagged and GG ez'd the entire game. It's never fun.

Pfft just don't care about it, literally just stand infront of them on the hook you don't lose points in your pips for it and you kill 2 birds with one stone. Also as Oni activate his power and you can actually swing through the survivor.

All this is, is a gimmick for survs that just want to piss you of use to get under their skin. But if you don't play their game and just stare at the one doing it all he can do is waste his time, and the dude on the hook, he'll get him killed.

  • @PBsamichShoe said:

Have you ever played survivor and been camped/tunneled? It's the most unfun thing ever.

The only fun part of playing survivor is getting into a chase that lasts a decent amount of time. It's LITERALLY the only fun part of playing survivor. When the person playing killer loses sight of that the game easily takes a nose dive as far as fun.

    I see what you're getting and...it's dumb.

If we're trying to talk fun, you think killers love it when they got infinite loops to worry about? Good loops that they can't stop? 4 people going around clicking after them like crazy? Or body blocking the hook? Or how about when survs spawn beside our totems?

If we're talking fun to fun here, you want a chase to last till gens pop.

Killers just want to win, but we get screwed by simple things that just annoy anybody after an amount of time. But what do survivors get out body blocking, bullying and laughing at new killers? Fun.

It's not a non argument. Because I'm right. I'm not the only one who thinks this. Gen speeds have never been the issue. But hey, if all you can do is call what I say stupid, that shows you have no coherent response. Run along now.

So...you're saying when people like Noob3, Monto, and Truetal3nt. Are all terrible killers because when they go up against an SWF that knows how to communicate and work gens and can pop all the gens by 7 to 8 minutes.

    They're just bad?

Maps and gens together are a problem, otherwise their wouldn't be a need for killer changes and toolbox changes. If gen speeds were NEVER the problem. They why are toolboxes a problem? Why are games getting finished in 7 to 8 minutes? Why are 2 gens popping by the time you finished your first chase an iridescent huntress? Because gens are fast, and maps are too big for certain killers. Yeah if you play some of the strongest killers there are no problems, but even then the best billy can still make 1 mistake that costs them the game, where the survivors can make 6 mistakes (2 per survivor if you needed that math) and still escape the trial.

If you think the problem is 'bad killers'. You don't play killer, or you play billy, ghost face, or are just a really good nurse.

This is only for hybrid Players(play killer and Survivor). Which side do y'all think needs to be buffed? Y'all don't have to explain why. I just wanna see people's answer. Me personally, I think killers need to b a bit stronger. Let's keep things civil and respectfully disagree if our opinions differ.

Killers easily, lots of struggle and work. No truth to being able to enjoy putting on perks that can make a killer fun for you. You're stuck in this "Perk makes killer viable" type of thing. Hurts enjoyment and stuff then makes you play around the perks. Not quite around the killer.

I think when the killer and the survs can play how they both want and either side being more reliant on skill rather than.what perks they bring then the game MIGHT finally be balanced.

  • @KillerKiller said:

Killer is easy and the devs coddle the killers.

    They never listen to survivors.

I think the devs make up all these posts of whiny killers complaining that it's hard because they want to keep the game easy for killers and with only survivors complaining they couldn't .

    justify it. Lol

    Im with you man

Every time I come the forums I sit here thinking

    WHAT GAME ARE YOU PLAYING?!!?

Dbd is totally killer biased, the killer has a profound advantage. It's easy as hell

So much so that when I've hooked someone twice and down them, I let them go be healed and don't kill them unless I down them again.

    Which I do

    I never camp, never tunnel.

I don't hook anyone twice till everyone's hooked once. I don't kill till everyone's hooked twice.

I don't hook the same player twice in a row

I make sure everyone makes good BP.

I make the game as fun as I can for everyone but the killers are faster. They can't escape us.

It's not hard at all. It was at first but after a week, I figured it out and boom.

I have no idea why killers complain

You guys have obviously never loaded in a match, and the game literally be done in 5 minutes because they left their one buddy on hook to go stage two, then all end up having borrowed and DS the entire ending of the game. Hell I've done this as survivor, loaded in with my team then the game ended with a 4 man because I was able to run the killer to the farthest distances from my team allowing them to work more if the killer left me.

Sure killer is easy when going against potatoes, but so is survivor. but going up against a unit, if you aren't billy or playing dirty with some camping and tunneling you have maybe 1 to 2 kills if none of them have DS or borrowed.

  • @Mastropiero said:

Why is the pig so weak? The killers that are paid like Mayers can throw you in one hit, gosthface too, leatherface can also throw you in one hit and Freddy (in addition to having the arm of the elastic man of the fantastic 4) is a very strong killer. Again I ask: why is the pig so bad if it is also a killer that cannot be obtained for free? are plans to improve it? Is there any enmity between the developers and the owners of the rights of the film? I feel a bit cheated when paying for such a useless killer, the traps are not difficult to remove, they are only activated when an engine is completed... she has so much against it that I am really thinking of asking for a refund for her 🤨

Sadly just being a one hit killer doesn't mean that you apply good pressure, bubba is the worst killer, hillbilly can still be out played and pressured even Iri huntress can lose.

Her speed and bear traps don't stop survs from doing gens

  • @MisterCremaster said:

No he's not OP. Learn how to counter him. Thank-you BHVR for having a balanced killer in the game. Please look at balancing some of the weaker killers to be in the same standing as this one.

I personally think his Add-on combos can be a little crazy when combined with pop and such but other than that. He's fine

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

I feel bad for op. Killers bully and harrass anyone who contradicts their threads but when some guy suggests a fair change to encourage more healthy and fun gameplay it gets shot down by the bias train.

As for the suggestion...this is great! To compensate, the amount of bp for hooking a survivor for the first time should increase slightly. As for gen rushing, maybe they could correspond gen points to time spent on the gen instead of charges added to it. Thanks for trying op, but there are a lot of whiners on the forums that haven't even tried playing without ruin.

So your solution for hen rushing, and tunneling is to remove points. But you want to do this before the game is remotely balanced so that those strategies that people dislike aren't something that killers have to resort to.

No first off this is a terrible idea, sometimes needing 1 person dead as soon as possble is your only chance for having a remotely decent match of 1 to 2 kills.

The reason why killers complain about this is because we're looked at for just doing it to be toxic, to make it unfun, to ruin the game for survivors. We just want to have a chance at victory, and if you need to be tunneled to require that then yes it's going to happen. As much as I want survivors to be punished for sitting in the exit gates T-bagging and clicking their flashlight like mad men to get a GG EZ at the end of the game. I don't come to the forums telling them to start taking bloodpoints for people doing that.

  • @perpill said:

If this game just dies. Let all this nerd rage leave your system. It's clear the majority aren't mature enough or care enough to just be nice or do different things. This game is worse than when I tried CS:GO after playing 1.6>CS:Source for years. Communities make and break a game. Even if this game sucks but the community was great? It would be tolerable. But when their game isn't in a great position and the community is even worse? You're literally just killing the game.

A house divided cannot stand, and we have more division than people coming together. We have more hate and saltiness than empathy and love. Many people play games as an outlet for their pain and to just try and escape and forget about it if only for a few moments. But what happens when the game you enjoy now becomes an addition and maybe even a catalyst?

If you want the game to survive, I'd advise you to find ways to ban toxic players. (Maybe Killers get speed buffs vs Survivors who are teabagging and if they teabag at the gates they depip. Make the punishment harsh.) And to find out what the biggest problems of the game are and throw all of your resources into that and not other add-ons or cosmetics or storyline. None of that will matter if the player base is leaving.

I play on the PS4. I don't nerd rage, I value my peace and do what I can to stay at peace. I don't play much survivor but when I do, I tell people up front I suck at skill checks and they should go to a different gen if they see me on one. Haha. I've been face camped, tunneled etc. I'm ok with it. It can be hard to win with 4* survivors, and if I know one person has one hook left, one more hit vs someone who's had 1 hook and healthy? I'll tunnel that last survivor to increase my chances of winning. (3 survivors left.) It's like an RPG game. You have all four of your characters on your side focus on one so that you can down the enemies quicker. Rather than you using all four to 1on1.

Sorry for being all over. I liked the game but also uninstalled (still watch online and see where the game is in forums) because it's the community that's hard to handle. I've got enough mental health issues, I don't need other players telling me to kill myself and to go buy razors and make friends with them. No one needs that rage/hatred/toxicity in their life.

Isn't toxicity what YOU make it? Yes a community can be awful but when it comes to things like balance and such that is also people are passionate about the games they play and they want it to be fun. Sometimes biased opinion cloud that.

I suppose you're a legion main? Cause right now I used to play legion A LOT but after the change I lost tbe enjoyment after hitting someone with frenzy i just end up chasing that one person again because no one is around. This has been a consistent problem for me since the change.

One does not simply drop something they've invested both hard-earned money and never-refunded time in with no qualms.

You have people who've spent several hundreds or even thousands of hours that they will NEVER get back. Now they take issue with their investment and want it to change.

Imagine if you invested in a stock. You do not want to see the stock drop, right? If it does, do you just sell or do you try to make it go up by doing whatever is in your power to make that stock rise? Be it advice or something else, I'd rather try to help my investment than let it squander around.

It's the same with DBD. Especially if you're like me, someone who has been playing since release, has been deeply involved in the small competitive community for many years. You could even be a content creator that has built their entire infrastructure on this game. If it dies you're income line just dropped dead.

If you expect someone to just drop DBD if they don't like the path it is going down or take issue with certain aspects, you're willfully ignoring these investments players have made. I urge you to stop this line of reasoning, as it is utterly and entirely unrealistic.

EDIT: I edited a sentence that made my point unclear.

The thing about this...even they do something you don't like over and over again there's just a time you should just...stop.

I personally didn't like using old ruin on my killer builds, I preferred pop goes the weasel. As old Ruin just got destroyed in the first few seconds. I'm actually excited to try out new ruin in my killer builds.

With Legion, survivors will just assume that the killer is using discordance, so survivors will avoid working on the same gen.

Speaking as a survivor main don't be afraid to slug. It's excellent way to provide map pressure. How I see it if the survivors allow me to slug, it's due to their incompetent rather then me being a "scummy/try hard killer"

I know how slugging can cause massive amounts of pressure but it's just a way that i don't like to play, the loss of Ruin tends to force those types off gameplay that Ruin let me babysit to have when it lasted. Allowing everyone to get some decent pips, and allowed me to try and 3 hook everyone where right now it feels like a force rp a 2 hook or 1 hook game.

I wonder if he is still over performing after they tweaked him a bit ago? I know people on here are saying to nerf him, but I’d rather they rework hillbilly first. What do you think?

Also, is ghost face in a good spot? He seems a bit strong.

I think he's fine as himself but some his combo's are bit crazy like three Jump Rope zipper combo, with Pop and BBQ. Stops Any progress you made by just nuking it with pop by teleporting across the map. Then they combine sloppy, you end up with stupid long heals, 10 year long Gens that give him insane amounts of time to travel.

I think if his add-on combo's were changed a bit he would be fine, I'd actually wasnt Behavior to bring other killers to where he sets in the league after those add-on changes. He's a tough fight, just not an impossible one, until those add-ons are played then if not everyone can run freddy great he just creams the team.

When I dropped ruin I actually started to play better. Ever since I have dropped it I consitantly 2-4k each match and mostly have a reasonable amount of gens left. Ruin is definitely not needed at all. Just adjust, Its not so bad.

(And decisive only works if its green or they jump in a locker, so if you need to tunnel, do it while its bugged)

    Rank, and Strats.

I always hear this comment, but I as a killer spent my majority of time trying to make the game fun for everyone, tried to avoid tunneling and slugging to much. But as of this recent change I'm noticing I have to adapt to those worse strats that I avoided to try and keep things fun.

But as of now it just feels like I have to take what I can get, like tunneling, or killing the dude that got the short end of the stick and was left to go second stage. So i let him live a little longer intentionally. Sometimes winning, and getting a 2k-4k isn't fun. Finishing a match in 3 minutes is far from entertaining as killer but some do get those kicks and gigs so I don't diss it ya know?

Ruin didn't just take the ability to make it a little easier to 4k, as a killer it took the enjoyment. The entertainment of actually getting to play the game and make it fun for everyone.

Killer kill rates are above 50% at red ranks.

Of which killers are they the ones pulling this 50% at? Most red rank games are A rank killers.
