  • That's already implemented, but it works vice versa.

You camp a lot of survivors dead, then you get their faces and afterwards BHVR exchanges the masks for iri shards. But as always this new feature is a bit bugged, thou.

  • Hi Devs.

Since everybody uses the forum mainly to complain, I would like to give positive feedback for once. =D

The event is awesome, it's so fun. I love it. I usually don't care if an event has a big or small impact on the usual game. I care about if it's fun and if it's something you usually don't have. (That's why I dislike 'fancy gens and hooks only' events a bit.) And the snowmans are so much fun and generate so many funny moments. I love it, great job boys 'n girls!!!!!

If you need constructive feedback: Since the snowmen give survs an extra hit, and I as a killer also want to goof around a bit with the snowmen, a check box "Disable Rank Progress" during the event would be nice. So I can waste time being goofy a bit but don't loose all my rank progress for it. But I don't need it, I love the event anyways!!!

    Merry Christmas,

    Freddy Bootysmacker

Mainly the balancing of objectives vs the flowers, against a good killer it could be pretty difficult to get everything done and I found myself choosing between objectives and flowers quite often

Wouldn't it be enough to give you emblem points for the flowers, so you don't derank by farming them?

I mean, what's the issue? If you want the flowers AND not being hooked, that would ofcourse not leave anything for the killer.

I mean, this sounds a bit like "I still want to play sweaty, when it comes to halloween events.". Do you mean it like that, or do I missunderstand you. Because that's what I liked about the flowers. Most survivors thought that there anyway the gens might not pop all, so they first tried to get their flowers and games went much less sweaty, which usually leaves the killer to be less sweaty, too.

It's the dedicated servers that are ruining gameplay, not just players.

Indeed. But that's not what the thread opener is basically complaining about. He is complaining about camping, tunneling and toxic swf.

Where is the "I don't care" option... Errrm, its called not voting? ?‍♂️

That's wrong. Voting "I don't care" is telling your opinion, not voting is not telling your opinion.

A poll can look like this:

    10 % Yes

    20 % No

    70 % I don't care

This tells, there are more people against something, but most don't care about it. So the devs might say it's not worth the effort to change something.

The same poll would look like this without the "I don't care option".

    33 % Yes

    66 % No

This looks like "Boy ... more than have of our players are against something. We need to take action."

I hope you at least know that in politics voting "absention" is different to "not voting at all".

Where is the "I don't care" option... Errrm, its called not voting? ?‍♂️

I don't care is not "not voting".

It actually would show my opinion on a theme like anybody else who votes. And you can see in the poll, how many people don't see an actual problem in what is described here.

    10 % pro

    20 % contra

    70 % it doesn't matter

That shows the devs, more ppl are against something, but it's maybe not worth the effort, since most don't care about it.

You say "I don't care" is the same as not voting. The poll would then look like this:

    33 % pro

    66 % contra

This looks like "Boy, more then half of our players have something against this. We need to react and do something."

Even from politics you should know that voting "absention" is different from "not voting at all".

  • Where is the "I don't care" option?

I actually would struggle on the hook, instead of just getting sacrificed in order to hold the hatch closed, if I think the teammate doesn't deserve it.

But I usually would not stand around in the gate, except I need points for my chase emblem. I anyway don't think that waiting in the gate is toxic. It was toxic to hold the game hostage by doing so, but that problem is solved by the EGC.

  • Ok, I just read the new devs post. They are not going to make any new event objectives and want to keep just the extra bloodpoint stuff and the "event items" in the free Rift path.

So it will just basically be a grind.

@Devs: Why don't you just put up the old events again, since you said you want to invest your time on game health instead of new event objectives. Just put on the flowers again and after that maybe the lanterns again? Or do you just delete your code, after the event is over?

  • @FoggyDownpour said:

Yes, but there needs to be a bit balancing to it. I don't really have any suggestions to offer though

So what do you think is not balanced properly?

  • @SilentSpectre said:

Yes! This event is so boring :(

Well ... it was kinda nice when we had it first time, with the slush machines or the bbq fest.

I would say special gens and hooks are nice when it comes to double blood points.

But as a halloween event I also expect something more than that.

  • =) That's nor really a discussion, huh?

Ppl giving you a bad time isn't something the devs fail at. Bhvr has to do something about bad behaviour in chats.

  • @zmassani said:

This is why the current event is kind of lackluster. With the old ones you could get a few decent event-filled games in and earn the coins/etc you needed for the cosmetics you wanted, but with this you're entirely dependent on how much you're willing to grind for the rift. It's unfortunate, really.

I also think it's the "lets do something else than the usual thing" that is missing. If you just had to grind special hooks/gens for the viles, that would not be the cool thing as well. People would indeed bring more offerings to get their cosmetics, but it still would not feel the same.

There is something missing that let's you know in game, that really something is happening.

(Just to mention it: Everquest 2 had for example two tinkerer nsc characters that were actually played by game mods. You had to convince them in game by chatting that you are worthy to get the special tinker-fest quest. The complete ui was made up like they were normal npc characters but you could tell by the chat, that there were humans behind chatting with you and making you explain why you are the one that can fullfill the quest. THAT's an event!)

  • I already have unlocked all the perks.

I like to use the shrine for the bp. I save up my shards until the new dlc is out. And then I will buy the complete shrine two times (it usually resets the evening the dlc came out) to overcome the 1 million bloodpoints cap for the new killer. (So I can spent my saved 1 million, + 600k from shrine one, + 600k from shrine 2.)

@Devs Can you please take care that there is always one expensive perk on the shrine (for 250k bp) the day a dlc comes out and the day after? =)

DS. When there is no Obsession in game, the Killer can simply tunnel as he wishes. Also, when he tunnels you once and sees that you dont have DS, he will do it the second time.

Last but not least, you can be as good at looping as possible, but when you get hooked somewhere where you have nothing to work with, DS can help you to get away from there.

If I down you, because one of your teammates did a very stupid unsafe unhook, and I then face a ds on you, that is pretty much the point where I will tunnel you out of the match for it. ^^

  • @Luigifan64 "horde all 5" ?

I am usually the one using Small Game in my team, and it's my task to destroy all 5 totems to prevent us from noed. So that's not "hording".

As a survivor I would so much love to get tokens. And that somehow tells me, that it would be totally op. I would have 5 free heals and just combine that with lithe and dance with me, just to vanish into the next locker for 7 seconds.

This is why this game is stagnanting in terms of playerbase. Not many new players stick to dbd

Where did you get that information from?

I would like to see a new discussion on how to provide better games and the possibility for better learning the game for newbies. I also would like an option that newbies can flag themselves as newbies, if they want to.

As a killer, it actually feels bad to beat a player and then find out he was just rank 20 paired with a lot of purple ranks.

Maybe like that: You can activate the flag if you want to, but it will not be available any longer, as soon as you reach rank 10 for the first time or after having played for 100 hours?

  • "Or maybe each DC survivor adds a significant speed bonus to healing, cleansing, and repairing."

"And then I got hooked and the killer camped me so my teammate couldn't rescue me and I ended up dying. This makes the killer definitely too OP no matter what."

"What fun is the game if you're role in the group is to sacrifice yourself so only one person can escape at the end?"

This shows your already onesided point of view on the game as a newbie survivor player. You are asking for balance and you are just taking into account your point of view as a survivor since you seem not get killer lobbies.

    1) Why should the survivors get a buff for disconnecting teammates? It also takes away the fun for the killer, stealing both from him, emblem points and blood points. Why should the survivors get a buff for this and the killer is left with his ######### game?

    2) Why do you think the game is unfun, just because you don't escape. And anyway, why should a game be like that all survivors always escape? You think it's unfun if only one survivor leaves the game, but it should be fun for the killer to have everybody survive?

    3) You think camping is OP? That also shows that you need to gather more experience. Camping is the worst thing to do as a killer and the easiest thing to counter as survivors. It just works on unexperienced or totally unprepared and over-altruistic teams.

I also think the match making needs a rework. We are short before rank reset, I am not sure how many rank 20 are even out there, if you start playing now.

But I am also calling this post a rant, to the most part I agree with @Blueberry .

At your point: "You are not providing help."

Your post is also not asking for help. You just wanted your money back, or a patch for super boosted survivor play, so it is fun for you as a newbie and unfun for any low rank killer you encounter.

  • If you just run around the map with the killer and then get downed, you anyway get depiped, because the emblem system is broken.

If you are the only one geting chased and hooked, all the others cant get any emblem points on beneolvent.

The emblem system needs a rework.

  • I also would like to see a killer get buffed instead of nerfed.

K ... Freddy seems to be buffed, but I guess that was by accident, cause they just wanted to get rid of the old dream world mechanic, which I acutally enjoyed.

But where is the buff for leatherface and clown??

Therefore survivor perks seem to get a buff all the time, maybe except for borrowed time.

  • @MrsGhostface said:

I’m a killer who is 100% against tunneling so it does not affect me, so on the rare occasion I’m playing survivor and someone is tunneled, the only time it truly saves them is EGC. It’s honestly not a good perk, and the only people who are probably bothered by it are bad killers who depend on tunneling. As a killer, I enjoy hooking everyone 3 times and maximizing my points, and tunneling doesn’t get that done. I get 4Ks pretty much every match so I really don’t see the point in doing so.

Boy, you must be an awesome, super skilled rank 1 player, always getting 4Ks and a shitload of bloodpoints, never "tunneling" someone to slow the gen progress down.

And boy, yes, that Borrowed Time perk should really be super buffed to punish all that low-bob players that are not so good as you are, in ranks between 2 and 20.

Hopefully in a future patch, Borrowed Time will just make the killers head explode, when he hits an unhooked survivor. I mean "duh", ofcourse survivors want to unhook their friends right in the face of the killer. Don't see a problem with that. And that perk should give both of them the appropiate amount of time to tbag at the hook.

  • @DeKillerKiller said:

As a Freddy main, this perk is perfect the way it is :)

Keep using Borrowed Time my friends.

That's also what i thought. I also like how it works on Wraith. ;)

When Huntress aims her hatchet to throw at survivors, she accidentally drops it and it lands on her head.

When she drops it, it would land a hit anyway due to the awesome hitboxes.

  • If survivors get distrackting objectives, why would not killer get their own new objectives, too?

With the pustula flowers event as a killer I also would have liked to get something to do other than special hooks. I think that was done by the lantern event, where killers would search the map for destroyable lanterns after hooking a survivor.

But I would more like, if the alternative objective for killers would be not against the survivors objectives. I mean, by destroying the lanterns you were also denying them to the survivors. I would more like an addional objective for killers, that does not deny the survivors event objectives.

Also the killers alternate objective should not be as time consuming as the survivors one, right? Since you anyway have not too much time to do anything else but putting pressure on the map. Not sure what would be the right way to balance, that killer and survivors waste an equal amount of time on their additional objectives.

    What do you think?

  • Grit should be an exhaustion perk thou.

I think it should not be combinable with dead hard, and sprint bust and so on.

  • 🤮 That's what I think about it.

  • That's much to powerful. Then you can directly add an ingame chat or buttons for everything. You should not be able to get an advantage on your aura being shown when you are hooked.

You anyway can wave your arms at the hook, that's much enough of info.

I would more like to see some other movements for survivors other than just pointing and waving. Actually just for the memes. Or do you think that will "inbalance" this balanced game, because this aswell could be missused.

  • A Mummy would be nice.

But I actually dont want another unlicensed killer. I want Chucky.

  • I also hope events will not be connected to the rift.

But it's not really a pay-wall. You can anyway buy the event cosmetics, so buying them is a usual point during any event.

Like many players say, the actual event didnt really feel like an event, because you couldn't do anything special in the game, nor were the viles connected to the event offerings.

I pretty much hope the devs just wanted to combine the new rift with the event, so you can enjoy both together all at once. But in future events the rift should be separated from the events.

    Anyway:

I think it's ok that you need to grind to get everything for free. Past events also gave you one cosmetic for free and you had to grind for the other ones. Guess they will keep it like that. The rift in my opinion didnt change that.

One cosmetic => Play through 2 tomes and a little besides that. Pretty much casual, there are still 60 days left.

Two cosmetics => Grind your viles.

  • @Herman_CMH said:

i will just shift to another side if I have already waited for like 10 minutes.

Well ... so why do you sh1t sideways?

Oh .. err .. sorry, I missread that.

I solve my rubik's cube or built some Lego models while waiting for a game.

  • I would like to have a counter against instant totem cleansing.

Maybe active totems should have difficult skill checks. So I can decide if I wanna fo protect the totem. But I would not apply these skill checks to dull totems, thou.

It also might help, if you were not allowed to touch a totem again for 90 seconds, after you tried cleansing it. So if the killer chases you off, he can be sure you can't just go back cleasing, when you start chasing someone else.

  • ?? Why should anyone care about ranks or rank resets anyway at the moment.

I am currently rank 6 killer and I get rank 2 parties in my lobby anyway. So I actually don't care about ranks as well as I don't care about rank resets. The match making is broken, the emblem system is broken, that's all just a big mess.

I think devs should fix the ranking system first, before they start thinking about when to do resets. Like for example: Why does Plague always depip, if she dares using her power. Why is Michael not rewarded for stalking and downing people with Tier 3? That's all broken, so what does a rank mean anyway?

  • I think it makes the game just longer for no reason. As already mentioned, the killer will anyway just stay at the hook. So what will change / happen:

    • You have to do the 3 unhook attempts and waste time on them.
    • If you unhook yourself, the killer will down you again.
    • After being downed again the killer will wait an additional minute, just in case you have decisive.
    • If you are even more unlucky, the killer will down you and then let you lie on the ground to search the hatch first, before hooking you. That's what I would do, just in case you unhook yourself and then use decisive or dead hard and stuff to go on a run for the hatch.
    • Some survivors will anyway not try to self unhook and just do nothing on the hook "to waste your time", because they expected to be instantly offered the hatch for being the last survivor alive.

So all I see by giving the last survivor the 3 unhook attempts is a waste of time for all remaining players.

I would more likely grant the last survior 1000 extra points, since they re not allowed to struggle for it.

  • I don't have the numbers, so how shall I know?

Most games I experience vs Spirits are 4kills ... so? I guess pls nerf him to death, until no one wants to play her anymore. How did the devs even dare to bring up a new A-Tier killer ... everyone loves to always face billy and nurse on red rank.

I really don't know, spirit is anyway difficult to play and also difficult to play against. So I don't know what's the problem of the players who just dc against spirit.

All I know is that I will use up all my anal beads, before they nerf 'em. =)

  • I already had a poll for this quesstion.

Not actually comparing the two blight events, but asking if people like alternative objectives. I also dislike events that just bring "special extra bp gens" and "special extra bp hooks", since that doesn't feel like an event.

    Maybe consider voting here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/100792/do-you-like-events-with-alternative-distrackting-objectives#latest

  • Another "win" for the "survivors" ... are you kidding me?

I pretty much think devs have statistics that show how likely it is to survive against a Spirit. And they will change it based on this statistics.

  • Well ... these are two different problems.

Disconnectiong should be adressed at it's own. It doesn't matter for what reason, it's bad anyways. I don't know why Devs don't adress this problem. For example Rocket League gives you a 15 minutes cooldown when you intendedly disconnect from a match, since it ruins the match for all the other players.

I also would stack the cooldown. You disconnect again in a row, 30 minutes cooldown. You log out for the day, 'cause you don't wanna wait 30 minutes, log in the next day and dc already again => 45 minutes cooldown. Until you start playing your games.

It doesn't fix the suicide-problem, but it fixes a lot of other problems like dc on first down, dc because of killer, and dc to instantly open the hatch.

To the "complaining" problem. Legion was unfun, because Legion players started to chase you backwards. And that was just bullshit. But I also didn't see the need to nerf (or "rework") him to a piece of trash. He now is still unfun to play, but for the killer player.

Sorry, but the Dbd Forum and community is just a big bunch of crying lil sausages, that complain about everything. Maybe some ppl should write what they like from time to time. And instead of a discussion, I would start a poll where everybody can give their opinion if Spirit is fun or OP or unfun, or what ever.

I basically think survivors start complaining, when they don't want to adapt to new killers.

  • Lvl 28, I also already completed the challenges.

I hope they will fix the challenges in tome 4, since some of them sound totally unrealistic.

Or they just should tell that they dont want anyone to finish the rift without buying some of the last levels.

  • I have just seen a poll "Do you prefer Hollow Blight Withering Blight" here.

So I would like to push this poll up again, since it is the same subject. =)

Pls vote. Maybe the devs will see this.

  • @Walker_of_the_fog_96 Never loose hope. ;) That's another reason why I opened this poll.

I also would like to see the pustular flowers again. Maybe the survivor farming mechanic should just be different. Like a) you should be able to farm the extra points. And maybe b) survivors that already have all viles maybe don't deplete flowers for others who don't have all viles yet, but just deplete them for survivors that already have all viles. So they still can get the points, but don't steal the viles from the ones still on the run.

  • @Accullla I also think there might be a problem deviding the community. Not sure how many players are online at the same time. But as you could see, the flowers already made it difficult for killers to find games, when the survivors recognized they would not be able to farm any more flowers once they are through.

That made a lot of players change to the killer side to at least get some more extra bloodpoints.

Same happened with Freddy, when he was out. Everybody wanted to play him.

I think there might be a problem with a game mode that rund without event during event weeks. As far as the poll shows right now, there are only 10 % of the players who dislike the alternate objectives. They might have problems finding games, maybe.

  • I also don't see a point in unlocking them all at once.

I mean, you are also not asking them to unlock future tomes for other rifts right now, do you. The only reason you say they should unlock it is, because you can see the buttons and you think there are 3 tomes ready to play but just not unlocked yet. If the devs would simply hide the buttons until the new tome is unlocked, you wouldn't even ask for unlocking them before it's schedule.

Ther is a clear release plan, as far as I understood. You get new challanges every two weeks. So that's what you get. As well as you get a new chapter every 3 month ... and you also don't ask them if they can't release it earlier...

And besides that I also think the challenges on page for need rework, since some of them are much too hard to achieve.

  • Well ... some players, including me, use the spacebar spamming to decided when to let go. Like if someone decides to farm an unhook with the killer coming right behind him, I usually stop spamming space in case I already have seen, that this survivor doesn't run borrowed time.

Anyway, it's a mechanic that let's you decide the exact point when to exit that game. And I don't wanna loose that. I don't want to wait for a skill-check, and I dont want a challenge during the struggling phase that might cause an unwanted sacrifice.

I suggest you we might just hold space pressed instead of spamming it, maybe?

Besides that: If you don't want to spam the space button, why don't you just use a macro? Is that somehow bannable, or something?

  • @Divine_Confetti Nope, I think that won't work: You are just thinking this from the survivors "we shall all escape" point of view. The killer is pertty much wasting time to get his catched survivor to the proper hook, he usually can't just pick the one next to him.

That's why I also liked that the flowers cost extra time. It gave me th opportunity to waste somt time to walk a longer distance to an event hook. (Since the killers anyway just got event hooks, even thou the survivors had these cool flowers.)

That's also what happens to me now. I usually cannot get all my event hooks. They are either to far away anyway, or I waste too much time carying survivors around, so the gens pop to fast.

  • @SleepyWillo Sorry, but as killer I also want to know where the lanterns are. Ofcourse the lanterns maybe should not make it easier to spot survivors, if that's possible. But there definitively should be a hint where the lanterns are. Would just be unfair if you hook a survivors and then you have to check all the lantern spots again to see if the hooked survivors had one.

  • @Divine_Confetti Hm ... sorry, but I think "special hooks" and "special gens" are just boring as an event. I know events from other online games and most of them are spectacular and bring up something extraordinary. "Bring someone to this hook and not to the other" is none of both as well as "do this 'special' gen first".

And it seems not to matter to most other players, too. Because the actual event doesn't bring anything else but special gens and special hooks and no one brings the offerings for them.

I ofcourse respect your opinion. But pls make me understand:

Are you one of the players that go one gen rushing and did you ignore the flowers on the event? And did you not get any friendly killer players letting you farm some flowers, or do you kind of need the super sweaty play and maximum competition to enjoy the game?

(Real question! Outside of events I play this game for the competition as well!)

  • @Raven014 You're right, that's a plus. But as @inutilem mentioned, it also eases down killers. There is not so much pressure on them to play strait forward to the 4kill, cause the know survivors will search their other objectives first. Especially with the flowes that was the case.

For exampled I would not bring ruin in a game with flowers, since the game is already slowed down. I would more likely bring agitation to make sure I can reach my special hooks.

With the lanterns, which are picked up very easy, I might need ruin at high ranks to get against gen rushes.

But anyway: Both earlier events made people bring event offerings. With the actual event I barely see event offerings. With swf, from time to time we get a random that brings one. As a killer I am usually the only one who brings an offering most of the time.

  • @LordGlint That's totally not what I experienced. I actually didn't have survivors that just suicided to get faster into matches with more flowers. There also was the mechanic that you would loose progress on you viles, if you died.

Are you sure that is what you experienced during the flowers event. Or is that maybe just what you think would happen with such kind of event. Or was it your strat?

No offense intended. I just had an experience that completely differs from what you describe here.

  • Sorry, I forgot!

What I loved most was hitting survivors on the hook!!!!!

Man, devs, patch that #########, c'mon! I can't always play Ghostface just to give that tbagging dipshits a lil bit back of their own medicine.

  • Er ....

    • the salt in the endgame chat
    • being called camper, even if all survivors are around the hook when I play scratched mirror myers
    • being called tunneler when I dare to hook any survivor a third time
    • disconnects on first down
    • loosing my #########'n Hex:Ruin after 15 seconds
    • totems spawning into survivors faces

oh .. sorry. You mean what I love about DbD ... k.

    • Tbagging with Ghostface. That's just awesome!
    • And I love that one survivor, whome I get every 100 games, that gives a gg !!!!!
  • @inutilem That was just my experience. =)

I didn't dislike the lanterns, but when it was out what the event would be like, I already disliked that the killers and survivors alternate objectives were opposing each other. They want to take the lanterns out, the killer destroyes them => salt in endgame chat garanteed.

The event then turned out to be nicer than expected. But it was really difficult to grant something to the survivors. Like, when you hit a lantern after the gate was opened, the survivors mostly would ecpect that this is baiting them to get another hook.

I also liked the pustular flowers much more. Like you said, it really was a vacation from normal gameplay.

    Just a little anecdote:

Best thing that happened to me was, when I granted some flowers to the survivors and one of them destroyed my event hook just into my face so I wasnt able to get my hook. Fortunately I was playing Myers with tombstone at the edge of tear 3. So I stalked and moried him while the others were tbagging him around me. ^^

The other 3 survivors didnt even fear to get moried, after I granted the flowers to them. So one waited with me at the event hook, until it respawned and I the got it. ^^

The moried teammate after all wasn't mad. He waited in the lobby and said sorry cause he didnt get that I was letting them get their flowers. He thought it was hilarious that I first stared sadly at my broken event hook and then turned around and moried him. =D
