Your reasoning? I run Corrupt on certain killers (Trapper, Hag, Plague), but for the most part I don't feel it's necessary to win games or have strong starts. If gen speeds are a problem, nerf toolboxes - that's something that won't hurt lower level survivors disproportionately, which basekit Corrupt would.
Current gen times are 90 seconds. Thats be fine in itself if this game was not a MMR matchmaking system and had a server list with open lobbies to hop in and out of to do pub matches. Im sure you are aware of this factor but once you reach top rank on Killer your experience in the high mmr meta is the gen rush 4 man comps. Now I am not against this or complaining specifically about this but lets do math. If say we look at the gen times chart for the amount of survivors on a gen without any perks or toolboxes we can see that just one extra person takes it from 90 seconds to 52.94 with a -15% efficiency penalty. However. Lets add in toolboxes and gen perks that remoce the penalty entirely. Just 1 survivor with gen perks and a toolbox and another without reduces the time to nearly 29 seconds. Put 3 survivors on it with at least 1 toolbox and 1 player with full party gen perks and you are looking at an easy 20 second gen. We are talking a drastic reduction in time. Your average Killer run times against competent players at high MMR is looking around 45 to 60 seconds if you do not get a lucky spotting and/or the comp team makes a mistake early on(which can 100% be corrected mid to late game).
if you run 1 player and down his within 60-80 seconds no matter how much pressure you apply. Without corrupt intervention on and without other gen slowdown perks for kicking or blocking you easily are looking at 2 gens minimum done within that timeframe(without deadlock which is slowly working its way to possible base kit status if we do not get corrupt intervention).
at this current time the only solution for high end MMR is to tunnel hard the first man out within 100 seconds minimum or face a 4 gen done deal unless you run a 4 perk gen block/slowdown build. Slugging comes second to this massive glaring problem. I havent even touched upon the 3 gen base kit kick blocks now that stop you from defending 3 gens permanently…
therefore, make Corrupt Intervention base kit just like Borrowed Time is now and the blocking of 3 gen meta us now. There is zero excuse not to do this and would completely make killers not hyper focused on tunneling out the first man they see as often as it is now. Killers are in a state of 1 strategy mode, tunneling. With slugging being the meme strat. This needs to change. It starts with gen speed and works it way down. -
They just had bad taste. That map was prime time for both sides. Especially at the upstairs gen with the drop. You could hit those window vaults into running down the stairs or taking the drop like nothing. For killers it was the perfect mindgame once you knew the map. Trick em into dropping or running down the stairs etc. i appreciated it. #bringbackhawkins

I think most people hate it because most pallets were garbage for survivor
Nah son just go to that middle room with the upstairs vaults and double pallets at the bottom it was crisp chefs kiss of loops. I always felt Hawkins was the best map they ever made for both sides hands down.
-
@TheArbiter said:
I thought it was the best indoor map they made!
I agree. Ive been wondering if the devs ever thought of trying to revamp it and rename it to seperate it from stranger things so we could get it back again.
-
@tenoresax said:
Do not bring back Hawkins, it was cool aesthetically but in terms of actual map design it was one of the worst.
I'd be more than happy with the same theme of map with an entirely revised design and layout.
Hard disagree. I enjoyed it as killer. Though, I enjoy all the indoor maps tbf.
-
Lol the fact that killers are forced to run pain/dms/corrupt on everything is what makes it hilarious. Its a joke. The devs hate killer imo.
-
@Exxodus21 said:
I don't think a survivor should be able to completely stop a killer. Survivors should suffer some sort of knock back or stumble effect for colliding with the killer.
This is the issue. Half the time they will stack 3 healthy survivors deep in front of one hook to stop you from hooking while throwing flashbangs, sabotaging and teabagging at once. It is utterly infuriating.
-
@dspaceman20 said:
You can probably argue dead hard but ds is fine its needed because of the very state of the game
It needs to be an exhaustion perk. You shouldnt even have DH and Ds on the same survivor at once. Lets say its end game. The team will intentionally bodyblock, BT and use DS to avoid all issues. This has nothing to do with tunneling. More over, tunneling and camping is a by-product direct response to how survivors play. All Killer meta builds are literally in response to Survivor Meta builds. Survivor mains need to cope on the reality that the problem resides in completely the survivor side and would only be fixed if survivor was nerfed. Killers would not play the way that SWFs complain about if they stopped the bullcrap they do. Period.

We are very much aware that cross progression is desired by the community and it's still something we're working towards, however, the decision is not solely down to ourselves as there's other parties involved. So we cannot say if/when it will be implemented.
Thats fair obviously making deals with companies such as microsoft studios or Sony interactive is a thing that makes sense. I just want to vent my frustration and the viewpoint that just switching from one system to another is extremely costly for many users and that the way it looks can be perceived poorly overall. I appreciate the response.

For real :( I normally try to play by the book, but after two very sweaty groups with subpar return for my burned BPS I said "f-it!" and tunneled the first player I met out of the game. Hard. Even though there was a very good other player in the survivors team, who tried her best with flashlights, bodyblocking and buying time for sabotages, the match became that much more manageable, and I therefore chilled, then all the other matches I had that day.
So is this the armes race conclusion? Tunnel one player out asap, just so that you can have a "normal" game afterwards? This would still sour the mood for the other survivors and possible mine, too.
Quite literally yes. Thats Red Rank Killer meta right now.
-
@douggie123 said:
Every nemesis player is a facecamping tunneling jerk for me
This seasons Meta for sweat killers is too tunnel out the weakest survivor asap before 2-3 gens pop. If we only have to deal with 3 people for the rest of the game it’s extremely more easy to handle. Dont blame the killer, blame the devs. They have forced killers to play this way as the new boon/anti-totem perks for survivors as meta are too OP and running any kind of hex perks like undying or ruin means you lose those perks in about 60 seconds when the game starts.
personally ive swapped to a gen-blocking build to survive and thrive as a killer atm. This season is utterly brutal overall for Killer players and just be happy there is anyone left on Killer Side willing to play this game and not want to kill themselves irl.

Yeah this can work too. As Nemesis, i have not map pressure. I should trust zombies for this but they are so useless most times. If BHVR fix them, Nemesis is great killer.
Personally from experience the zombies I use as just pointers for where to look 90% of the time and run 100% zombie speed so they actually can do some interesting plays off them. Generally speaking zombie AI isnt good and thats the only fix they need. The M2 tier 3 not adding damage and viral infection in 1 hit is just silly and making the M2 have a tiny wider hitbox would be nice. Just a tad bit wider. Nothing insane.
-
@LastShoe said:
- You can drag the hitbox to make it artificially wider and by making it wider directly it will be easier to lose it on the corners and way worse at windows
4 It goes against number 2 and yeah, vaccines are very situational
You clearly dont play alot of nemesis but the drag method generally does not work after tier 1. Generally speaking the hitbox on the tentacle should be a hair wider than what it is or make it to where the whip hit everything and not 1 object at a time i.e. you whip someone on the other side of the pallet/window and it sometimes picks the pallet over the survivor etc. also would be nice change to deal with body blockers if you can whip multiple people in a line like how Pyramid heads M2 works.

Because killers don’t care about deranking or blood points when they facecamp. They’re doing it simply because they’re purposely trying to be a jerk or they don’t care. Yes, there are some killers that struggle more than others but I’d rather go against a strong killer that can manage to get hooks rather than ones that just babysit and play off trades. How is that fun for either side?
You are kidding right? Killer mains give alot of crap about BP and the only time these events happen is one of two reasons. Either
- You are a sweaty player/squad running flashlight/flashbang deep popping 3 gens within 60 seconds trolling at shack or LW loops. The killer has accepted you have won and your disrespectful playstyle of “Oppressing” or “bullying” the Killer made him sit in your face and deny you your escape points. You earned it.
- Its a new killer unaware of how killer is or a casual just messing around.
9/10 times its always Scenario 1 than 2. This is one of the few kind of competition games that encouraged players to play extremely toxic and abusive/harassment towards the other player who is fundamentally gimped to what you can bring to the table(meaning Survivors have a significant advantage over killers in every aspect). Until the devs decide to balance the game around fun or fairness it will continue to exist as it is the only option many times for Killer mains to give you the taste of medicine you provide many times over. Accept it. Learn to play for fun as a survivor main rather then openly commit to making the game as insufferable as possible for people who may want to dip there toes in the Killer side.
-
If you complain about getting camped by a killer you are the problem. If you are getting facecamped your team better genrush objectives. Thats the punishment for doing that. The killer loses BP and deranks. Why are you guys trying to punish killers when killers suck in this game to begin with. Smh
-
Camping punished the killer by making survivors genrush. If you choose to camp hooks early game there is 1 of two reasons either
- The survivor team is a 4 man sweat 4 flashlight deep 3 gen popping in 60 seconds kinda team that has flashbanged the killer a minimum of 2 times and teabagged at pallet everytime. You know youve lost and you just want to skip the game as fast as possible and deny 1 person escape points.
- you are a new killer or a player who does not like bloodpoints or understand how to get more points as killer.
-
So as a Killer Rank 1 main on console who uses Cross-Play for hardcore 4 man sweaty pc players I will add my tips here too
A. play for points, not for wins
- what do I mean by this? Well, this game is based around BP. Having a 1K or 2K game is fine just play for the points. Slug, dont hook camp unless it makes sense too. Chase for no more than 40 seconds. Run perks that help you gain more points or get more hits/abilities used. Do not expect to 4k every game. Its not realistic and you will be frustrated if you attempt this. Youll start getting 4k more often when you change the mindset of the game itself.
B. Build for your style of gameplay and killer weaknesses versus. A “Build Guide” or general S tier Perks.
- Running 4 perks that are S tier is not a viable option. Run perks that make sense for what you are attempting to accomplish. Are you wanting a end game build? Grab NOED, Deaths Gate, Butter Murmur for fun endgame. Want a anti-loop build? Grab perks that focus in window/pallet block or enduring to reduce time for stun etc. you get the point.
C. Play killers that fit your style.
Personally I enjoy actively hunting and slugging at a heavy pace. Its my style. So I focus on maining killers that do this. Oni, Nemesis, Wraith, Nurse, Huntress, and Blight. These are my mains and I am at my best when using them. Find what suits your taste. Maybe you are a planner style of killer? Trapper, Hag, Freddy etc. maybe you prefer denying survivors things as a playstyle? Pyramidhead, pinhead, Artist, etc. maybe you prefer killers that down players often? Billy, cannibal, oni, etc.
play what suits your comfortablity. Lots of killer mains coming into it believe they have to play “S tier” Killers and thats how its done. Nonesense. If the killer doesnt feel like a glove. Dont force it. Play what comes naturally.
D. Expect to get bullied as a Killer
- You will have more bad games than good games for awhile and the better you get the worst itll get for you. BHVR devs refuse to balance or fix the MMR or the 4 man swuads or the maps or the tiles so these are factors you will need to come to terms with. That being said, I suggest to heavily turn OFF cross-play and itll make you less likely to run into troll squads or 4 man sweat squads. You will enjoy your games more often and you will be able to take more time honing your chase/loop skills in the process. Its like riding a bicycle thats really really broken. Itll take some time to get use too but dont expect Dad(The devs) to fix it anytime soon so deal with what you got and ride the piss outta it.
tldr: play what fits you and play for points. Dont play to win or sweaty 4 man squads will piss you off and make you quit immediately(this is happen even if you practice these methods but you can deal with it with these tips)

whoever thought a ######### flashbang was a good idea should be fired ngl

Q: Whats the biggest problem in DBD?
A: the development team doesn’t want to fix there game, nor do they desire actually looking into the issue. Buy more cash shop bro.
-
DD and DH are the most broken perks in the game. There was already a study done by some redditor who ran 100 games and saw 86 of those games had DH and 92 games had DS.
thats insanity. DH needs to be turbo nerfed into the ground
-
Survivors already quit the moment they realize you have mori or 1 shot hatchets etc. majority of survivor mains only SWF anyways.
i think if they nerf gen rushing into the ground itd fix alot of killer gripes. Maybe force all the survivors to spawn super far from all the gens or something. Idk. Maybe make gens naturally regress instead of ruin? Who knows.
@Bard said:
Gen speeds need to be hit, but only in the early game.
A change as stupid as doubling the time on all gens would kill the game, because it would become impossible for a competent killer to lose.
On top of how some perks would become overpowered as ######### (Pop would give you a 40 seconds regression and surge would give you a 12.8 second regression), the game would go from survivors being able to hold W without using pallets and winning anyways to killers being able to eat every pallet on the map and still have three gens left.
Survivors would quit because they wouldn't have a fair shot at escaping, and killers would soon follow because the challenge is gone.

Buff solo to swf and balance accordingly. Not every swf is a tourny squad and two killers like let's say 2 nurses is gonna destroy a 4 man that idea seems to have little to no thought provided or like doctor and huntress info and projectiles.
Lmfao. Oh so itd be too OP like say 4man SWF running OoO and stupid ######### all game and communicating 24/7 and gen rushing instantly? Uhhuh.

No your option is quite literally splitting the community because most killers are disabling it. Causing swf players longer queues killing the game because playing with friends is soooooo wrong.
So how do you balance it? Why not make a ranked and unranked mode? Why not add a SWFvsKWFs mode where its two killers vs 4 man stacks? That would balance out the game imo

What he said was not entitled you are more entitled by asking the devs to decide the community. He never said nor implied he cant win without OoO and trolling the killer with a try hard swf. Without swf this game dies becuase solo is very bad.
Maybe survivors dont want to try hard and relax in solo but no bad teammates and killers that camp and tunnel. See I can flip the words and make a straw man argument.
Solo is just a nightmare every body knows this but you sound like a new killer main you join in 2019 huh?
Asking for the option of having a choice is entitled? No. Telling others they cant have a choice in a game because itll ruin YOUR FUN is the entitlement
-
@EuphoricBliss35 said:
do You know how popular this game was before and after SWF? You don’t need to win every game. Not every SWF is a tournament squad.
Even then, it just comes down to variables outside your control (to a degree). What killer did you pick, what are your perks, their perks, items?, map, variation of the map, did u create enough pressure, did you hook smartly (ex. Hooking where you want them to be), did you let go of the right chases, did u down people quickly, etc.
Use it as a learning experience. You won’t get better otherwise
This is the most entitled survivor main post I’ve ever read. So what you are saying is, you cant win unless you and your friends are on comms running OoO and trolling the killer right? smh
maybe people dont wanna be tryhards 24/7. Maybe they wanna level up there favorite killer without getting gang banged by people who have the same mentality as you do.
why dont you take your own advice and solo que for awhile. “Use it as a learning experience to get better” 😒

I personally turn it off as a console player. Id rather have my own form of balance by removing OP pc players to console plebs(K+M and 120fps vs 5-10fps on console and controller lol) than deal with SWF pc edition
-
I am really curious who asked for cross play over bug fixes tbh
-
Ya they aren’t going to fix this. People have been complaining about this and console FPS problems since day 1. They don’t care.
-
We never shouldve had crossplay introduced until dedicated servers were finally put in place and they fixed the GROSS BALANCE PROBLEM WITH FPS.
with PC players getting 120+ fps and us console players getting 30 fps flat. Also this new update they did sucks donkey doodoo. I refuse to play killer at all during all this. Give us the option to opt outta SWF already.

So far im playing solo leveling Laurie up and it's been actually good to run imo. I literally always know where the killer is and when he is heading my way. I know from a mile away too so I can just leave immediately or hide. Its super OP so far. Though I did get absolutely obliterated by a Myers who tunneled me to death. He was very angry immediately when I saw him lol.

99% I encounter an OoO user it's against a SWF team using OoO so that every survivor knows where I am.
There's no real way to tell if the OoO user is part of a SWF group or not especially since people can be friends via the game and not just through steam where you can check a person's friendlist if they aren't private. So the safest bet is to treat the OoO user as part of a SWF team.
So what you're saying is OoO is in-itself a mindgame? Lol
-
I see. So far my experience with leveling up Laurie and using it has been
1. Oni got bullied by me and I had no perks but OoO
2. Myers literally rage tunneled me and killed me first lol

I believe it. It's such a prevelant bug. I notice it so often I just don't want to go oni now

Im all for a Filter to not get SWF. Hate it with a passion. I think it's a neat idea with friends from time to time but majority of it is just people wanting to Ride the Killer like a Bull and send hatemail afterwards if you beat them at it.
It's annoying af and not fun. Either that or give us a Kill with Friends where we get to have a second killer on the map instead of just us. That way, I can show SWF players what it feels like.

Wow crazy that a killer main would disagree with me.
Okay, I'll bite.
The reason why you are getting your butt handed to you by PH is because you dont understand his role in the game and you are in robot autopilot mode due to your overwhelming amount of Broken S Tier Perks like BT and DS etc plus the maps and looping etc.
You are so use to a specific style of play that works for you that you forgot how to play altruistically is my point and you haven't given yourself time to learn how to counter PH overall, choosing to rage and seethe at the reality that your braindead singular style of gameplay just won't work on him so let me give you the secrets of PH for you to win.
PH punishes players who do not play objectives and who want to play Cat & Mouse or SWF tier levels of BS that us Killers have to deal with. Remove BT and DS from your kit, start your entire focus on group objective play and stealth.
Grab things like Balance, Iron Will, Unbreakable, Aura reading, Object, or even better, group objective perks that increase your groups Objective speed(Dwight Perks etc).
Stay far away from PH and spam Gens, it'll cause PHs to have to roll builds that dont use BBQ and Save the Best for Last for Gen perks like Corrupt, Ruin, TT, Pop.
PH is bad at objectives, good at killing loopers. I personally believe the Devs intended to make PH a anti-tunneler, anti-momentum Killer instead of just nerfing your "Meta" Perks.
TLDR; Git Gud, this isn't the way to start a conversation on balancing a character thats been out for over a Week.
Also look at Heathers Perks, her Entity perk is specifically designed with the intent on stopping people using Pop or Thanatology because the counter to PH is Objective playing and Stealth

TT doesn't regress Gens even if you kicked them fyi.

Yeah lately it's been getting more and more frustrating. I play on ps4 as a Killer mainly and it's a pain everytime I use Doctors charge or go for a lunged basic attack the survivors almost flicker when they 360 spin on me. It's extremely more frustrating when you get bombarded by SWFs.

@Seiko300 said:
Two problems with this:
One, the killer that transforms into survivors. This idea has been a suggestion since 2016 and the community as well as developers are a bit torn as to whether or not it would actually work and be viable. I personally think it's worth a shot even as a potential secondary ability but a lot of people would shout me down saying "swf" so I usually don't bother these days. The last time I heard the devs comment on it I think they said something along the lines of they don't have the tech and / or funds to pull this killer off, but I don't know how true that statement is anymore these days.
Not to mention there are way cooler killers that shapeshifting could go toward like The Thing from John Carpenter's The Thing first and foremost, but also the T-1000 from Terminator 2. Which is why I say give it a shot, those characters would be super cool to have in game (but I definitely would say no on the mimic, sorry, not my type)
Two: The killer isn't human and / or humanoid. It used to be an established rule the killers all had to be or have been human at some point in their past, though that was tossed out the window when Demogorgon made it into the game. That being said the rule still applies just a lot more loosely, killers can be human or humanoid but we've yet to see a killer that's full blown something else, much like a giant mutated insect. This is why we never got to see that Spider Killer with 8 legs that people wanted for so long back in 2016
The reasoning behind this is about the same as for the first problem, every killer currently uses about the same model and animation rig, if they do something that isn't human they're going to have to create an entirely new rig for a single character which is really costly. Especially considering the potential that they'll never be able to re-use the same rig for any future characters.
I didn't think about the Thing either tbh. I wonder what the Devs would think about all this tbh. Del torro is a big gamer and helped Kojima prior so I dont see it being a big IP issue. He might enjoy it. Obviously we have John Carpenter's IPs in game now and it wouldnt be too difficult compared to the Devs convincing Konami of all people to lend the Silent Hill IP to be used in their game(the company made it very clear it doesnt like sharing its IPs).
Id be happy with the Thing too tbh.
