How come that people saying killer worst state in ever, yet in matchmaking have to wait long?

Just surprised after returning to play I see lot of complaints how bad killers are how survivor sided the game, yet on eu for most part I have to wait up to 10 minutes to play killer at early hours, afternoon still above 5 minutes, even at evening or night still few minutes. Basically survivor has blood bonus all the time, yet if i going by twitch or youtube, killer in worse state than ever. Is this feeling or based on facts?

  • It is just parotting at this point. People have said this when the game was actually very survivor-sided and never stopped saying it, despite Killer being way better. The goalpost just gets moved every time, whenever something gets nerfed, there is suddenly a new thing which needs Nerfs, because players who lost games before are still losing games, but because Reason A does not exist anymore, they cannot blame it on Reason A, so Reason B is why they lose games. And so on.

Sometimes I wish that BHVR would release a classic gamemode. It would have instant Killer queuetimes (since nobody would want to play Killer), but it would probably open the eyes of people who unironically say that DBD in 2026 is the hardest it has ever been for Killer.

  • More likely people are bored of going against killers that have to use tactics that the community weirdly find distasteful despite it being a PvP game and then loudly decrying "Well I can get 4k's without using such tactics" only to play killer and get stomped.

To be fair though the main issue with killer being "easy" is because of the quality of survivors.

    First downed? rage quit.

Don't like the killer? rage quit.

Don't like the map? rage quit.

Take chase, loop killer for fives minutes, no gen progress in that time? reasonably gives up because their team is lacking basic cognitive thinking.

The survivors have all the broken tools and hand holding they could need to absolutely trounce the killer in 90% of matches and yet for ! most ! its still not enough.

Also I play EU servers, my killer queues barely take 5seconds in the evening when I get in from work so dunno what to tell you about your queue times honestly.

  • Idk where, when jadon came I had 5-6 minutes queue times, now at evening at lights out I had 7 seconds queue time basicaly under minute.

On servers Im its longer for killer in day time because many survivor players jump in game at evening especialy with friends but even then its around 5 minutes at worst so I dont seemit so tragicaly as some say.

EU servers for killers are still very good especisly at night time, the queues are basicaly instant even in not so liked events like halloween one or blank banquete where big part of player base stops playing it after few days.

  • What you see on Twitch and youtube is ragebait/engagement bait. It's people with like 90%+ killrates telling their viewers that the game is working against them and it's swf/perks/etc fault. Because that's what gets views and makes them money. You can usually pick who bases their opinion on what they've seen in a youtube video because they all use similar sentences or phrases. Or when a new hot video comes out and we get a bunch of new accounts here all complaining about the same thing.

  • Killer main here, I genuinely hate when people say this as most people who say killer is in a terrible spot also play the game for literally 12 hours a day as their job. However for 95% of the playerbase killer is in amazing spot and literally the best it has felt for me in YEARS. Like if you do not play this game as if it is your job killer is doing great, you can pretty easily win majority of your matches.

That's my personal experience as I mainly stick to 10 ish killers that I have about 70% kill rate whilst still playing relatively casually, do take that with a grain of salt though as MMR is super broken atm.

  • I checked the updates and it seems that there is still no comeback mechanic for survivors, as in when a survivor taken out the game lost regardless but you cant give up and you cant come back yet forced to play it out. Also seemingly the killer can just take out the hatch by not take out the other survivor so he stalls till to find the last one as well, so hatch never comes into play.

There is some plans for better communication, but as far as i remember the issue was always matchmaking giving solo survivors low mmr teammates and since player has no way to comeback after losing early teammate yet forced to play out i can see why the role in unpopular, and probably the only draw is playing with friends.

  • I was playing last night around 9:00PM local time and I had instant killer queues. The killer queue times were much longer than normal when Jason came out, but have slowly started getting back to normal since then. Anyway, I don’t agree that killer side is in the “worst state ever”. Do you have links to any of the YouTube videos where CCs are saying this? That would at least let us see what arguments they are making to back up this claim

  • Is this feeling or based on facts?

Feeling. As others have mentioned, the people who says this frequently have extremely high kill ratings.

My personal theory is that no one wants to win a game that is tilted in their favor, so people have to say its tilted in survivors favor, otherwise having a good kill rate isn't nearly as impressive.

The naming and shaming policy on this forum is pretty strict. Posting a CCs video on the forum and attacking it is walking on dangerous territory, so we're left talking about things generally unless someone starts the discussion with a positive post.

Has anyone gotten in trouble for posting a YouTube video link? That doesn’t seem like “naming and shaming” to me, but I don’t make the rules here so it would probably be good to get clarification from a mod. It’s kind of difficult to have a discussion about this when nobody is showing 1) what claims the CCs are making and 2) what specific points in their game experience are backing up these claims

  • CCs love to complain. That's what gets views. And people love to repeat them. The role is fine.

This is kind of a lose-lose for me on answering because its also against forum rules to discuss removed threads and bans. Its not posting the link itself, obviously that can happen, but posting something like 'here's streamer John Doe's most recent vid, and here's why it was wrong' is where the territory gets tricky.

Would it be okay if the discussion was in the most polite terms possible? Maybe, but usually people aren't super deferential when they are attacking ideas they consider bad.

Yes, it leads to unproductive discussions around CCs. If mod wants to clarify the exact specifics I'd be happy to hear them.

  • LOL I love how you get a bunch of downvotes simply for showing a picture that doesn’t align with some people’s preferred narrative. Would love to hear explanations for the downvotes but I’m expecting none will come

I have. I posted a YouTube video and the "naming and shaming" involves the video creator themselves. My thread was removed and I got a warning message.

  • Its simple. most people arent losers like us who play non stop and post hundreds of times on a forum for a video game. most people are average people playing average games with average players who dont even know about all these hidden and secret rules and regulations.

I feel like its mostly the SWFs. During the day, you have your lone gamers on while alot of ppl are at work or school. In the evenings, you get a flood of ppl joining the survivor queue because their friends are on now.

I mean it's subjective isn't it, it's like if I used the 1v4 queue times during 2v8 as an arguement against you, the context matters.

Most of the day it's survivors who have a super short queue. I think the people downvoting do have their reasons lol

  • It's not the worst state for killer ever, it's the worst balance between killers ever. Nearly every killer added in the last couple years has been A tier and does just fine in the current meta, and if your killer isn't A tier, well, too bad, it's the worst it's been since the 2010s. This is why, when you play survivor, you have to play about 30-50 matches to get matched against a mere B tier killer.

The topic was bringing up queue times, so yes... an explanation about queue times its right on topic.

    1000002508.jpg

You have a daily pattern of ups and downs at the same times going from a low of 40k to a high of 90k. Of course its going to affect queues. How is pointing that out to the person conflating queue times to balance not adding anything of value? No, we dont have changes to the quality of the game by the hour. The time that you play will drastically affect the queue times.

  • It isn't true. Anybody who says this should hop off the killer queues (we all know they're queuing up killer over survivor anyway). Not even at midnight are the killer queues shorter than survivor (even or slightly higher at worst), when historically midnight is when killer became instant and survivor long.

Its because of this back and forth that queues are a terrible indicator to balance. The game did NOT have a huge balance change in the past 2 weeks to explain the current queue difference. It has an ongoing event that is causing more people to play, not some kind of survivor player exodus. You can expect normal queue times again in roughly 4 days.

Beyond that, a 4 minute queue is not a bad state by a long shot. Thats pretty healthy numbers. Jumping on the forums going "my side has the BP bonus right now so surely the other side needs nerfs" isn't the way to make an argument.

Yeah I would say we might get better queue times during the weekend as there is going to be more people playing anyway. You need to also take into account that in quite many countries the schools have started so there is less people that can play during the weekdays so that can also effect queue times. Real life events do effect queue times too.

I just think people are sick of long killer queue times (myself included) because I want to play killer more, but I don't spend that much time on the game recently outside of events, which is usually when killer queue times are the longest, the banquet being the exception.

It's summer holidays where I'm at rn, kids/adults are off school/college so lots of people queueing up for killer whilst these summer events have been on. I do play while you wait, but sometimes I have such bad survivor games suddenly I don't feel up to playing killer or DBD in general. So overall I don't get to play killer as often.

That's my personal experience rn, nothing to do with others voting or w/e

2v8 in general is a huge matchmaking anomaly. Usually if you wanna play with your friends, you play survivor in a SWF. 2v8 give THOSE players another option meaning a large amount of people who normally would be queuing up for survivor in 1v4 are queueing for killer 2v8. They could completely butcher the 2v8 balance in favor of survivors and ppl would STILL fill the killer queue due to the unique ability to play with your friends.

You posting the same image for days now in several Threads does not change the fact that queuetimes on average have become longer for Killer. Even if 4 minute is not that bad, it is still longer than what it used to be. So yes, while Killer queues are faster in the evening and have ALWAYS been faster in the evening, they are still longer than what they used to be. Even without 2v8 in mind.

(What I find funny is that whenever Survivor queues are long, people immediatly jump towards Killer not being fun and Survivors need nerfs… But whenever Killer queues are long, mental gymnastics are happening.)

I challenge you to find a post where I complained about the state of killer. I put the picture up everytime someone tries to claim queue times as an indicator of balance. This was not directed towards you. You posting the picture all the time was directed towards you, not that you personally claim that the state of Killer is bad. But it just happens all the time whenever Survivor queues are long that people start with that, but they never say the same when Killer queues are long.

  • Anyone who says killer or survivor are 'in the worst state they've ever been in' would be dead wrong even if we were talking 'the state they've been in over just the last two years'. I mean, killer had a worse meta than right now only a few months ago with Fast Track dumping free BNPs out the back of a truck en masse, and last year we had release Ghoul and Krasue practically running survivors over in their car with all the intense effort of a casual evening stroll.

My post with my picture is essentially a neutral comment. I hate the tribalism that occurs alot. You have a large portion of the people on these forums with a "if your not with me your against me" attitude, which im guessing are responsible for downvoting even neutral statements. Im kinda curious if my PFP was of Dwight, if the same people would be downvoting me.

  • Matchmaking is messed up because of 2v8. The mode invites a bunch of people to play killer with a friend, because it normally is not possible.

The state of killer isn't the same across all killers. Many of the weaker killers are in really rough spots and struggle. The stronger killers in the game do not.

Yeah, I think genrally speaking about the killer role and how easy it is to win (or feel comeptitive at the very least), killer is in the best shape it's ever been…if you pick the right killers.

The balance within the killer roster is abysmal, the worst it has been (at least since I started playing like seven years ago). Which is, as you say, the reason you see the same killers over and over as survivor, especially as you climb in MMR.

Which is why over the years I have shifted from a killer main to mostly killer, to 50/50, and now towards mostly surv. Not because killer has generally gotten harder or more grueling (it has not), but because the killers I prefer to play get less viable by the day.

As someone else said here, many people don't like to think they are winning more because balance is tilted in their favor, which is why I generally avoid using the S/A tier killers (rather than do a bunch of mental gymnastics to convince myself that the balance isn't what it is).

It's really unfortunate as balancing killers against each other would allow BHVR to more effectively balance the game as a whole, but they seem as content as ever to keep feeding the already well-fed. It's like survs and cosmetics, if they're popular, they lean into them, if not, well, you get forgotten. Good for business, bad for game health.

  • This content has been removed.
  • multiple things can be true at once.

Killer can be simultaneously be in the worst state possible and the best state possible.

When you got killers like Jason, twins, Billy, Dracula wins are basically free and come as easily as breathing.

Same can’t be said for low mobility M1 killers who have to trudge through the 20+ pallets with a slim chance at victory unless they pull out all the stops.

as for queue times I don’t know why they’ve gotten so atrociously bad, like it can’t be THAT hard to fill a 5 person lobby when games half the size fill up bigger lobbies in a fraction of the time. Some say it’s play while you wait, others claim it’s a lack of survivor players, it could be a backend problem, but we just can’t know; we’re at a severe data deficit, only bhvr knows why queues are bad.

Whether they choose to address it or give us an explanation on why they’re bad right now, it completely up to them. Frankly I don’t think they’ll fix it anytime soon considering this and last year have been some of the most profitable times for them.
