Why is it so hard to play killer and enjoy it without using S tier killers
Why does it feel like I'm pressured into playing the better killers because dealing with power creep or the returns not being as worth it as the risk and with gen rushing

You're not pressured into it, you can do well with any killer it mostly depends on your skill and the skill of the survivors, as well as the build you use and map even. Even with top tier killers you can still get gen rushed by survivors.
you cant just say they arnt feeling something when they say they are thats like telling a depressed person your not sad you can just go do something you like.
I think it's more you're pressured into using killers you're good with. Put in the time in with any individual killer and you'll start winning games with them.
If someone is a good with a mid/lowtier killer then they will still win a lot of their games. E.g. i main demo, considered weak and powercrept, C tier at best in most tier lists. But I've played it so long and gotten good with the shred and portal placement that I'm a bloody terror with him. Heck as a tactical player I dominate a lot of my trapper games, and he's considered weak af.
Whereas i can pick up an S tier killer like blight or nurse and I'm pretty naff with them. Especially blight, i do not get on well with him.
A competitive pvp game requires you to use a competitive set up to be competitive.
If there was no pressure to be efficient to win what would be the point of playing survivor?
power creep that’s your answer. You can’t play m1 killers anymore in the modern day of dbd whist having fun they’re outdated and bad.
Because performing well with hillbilly is easier than performing well with pinhead. That's all. Both killers need precise mechanics, but billy gets an instadown from it and pinhead gets a more unreliable clown bottle slow.
I dont think you need s-tier because currently only s-tiers are nurse and top tier blights after his nerfs with double speed addons.
Playing low tier killers with very restricted powers compare to killers that have something going on for them or thier power offers agency is huge difference. I finished all achivements on pig yesterday and tbh I wont touch her just like sm,sadako or other weak killers I dont find atleast fun because getting down against one guy just predroping everything while his teammates rush almost all gens and you cant do a thing in chase just hope they screw up or you get bloodlust is terrible. With killers like legion, trapper, ghostface theres some potencial atleast to get fast down or have fun but with pig or sadako for me its boring and you are just powerless or require the effort that on just mid killers gives you way more its like doing super hard physical labor thats just ruining your body and health for minimum wage compare to work where you dont destroy yourself and make solid money the effort and difference in outcome is totaly different especialy when majority of survivors runs same or very simular meta builds which these killers cant deal with well plus the remains of pallet density left huge amont of resources which these killers like pig lack tools to deal with.
To win with sadako against competent survivors requires huge effort which on singularity would give you the win 5 times faster and with more higher chance thats just fact that nothing beats and some people should inderstand that many players arent streamers doing hardcore challanges they just come tired from work or other things and want to play few games where they can chill and have chance to win without sweating their buttcheeks hard thats just it.
The number of pallets outnumbers you as m1 thats hard fact especialy when majority of these m1s dont have antiloop like clown or tp like freddy who has solid antiloop too.
I tried pig after very long time and I think I wont touch her again unless they buff her good not like last ghostface buff where they reduced cooldown from 17 seconds to 15 like what kind of buff to d-tier killer is that, that smells like changes from 2017 where devs nerfed everything into the ground just like pig.
This is your own mindset. You have to think for yourself when you would enjoy playing a Killer. If your main reason for enjoyment is winning, then there is no reason to play any other Killer than Nurse. If you want to have fun, you can paly any Killer you like, but need to have the right expectations. You can have fun playing Trapper, you can also 4K with Trapper, but obviously it is less likely than to do that compared to other Killers.
In general, every Killer can win matches more matches than you lose, if you are decent with them. But overall, it is really a mindset-thing. When I play Killer, I play to win, but not to a point that winning is my only way to enjoy playing Killer. So I dont care too much if I lose, especially if I play a lower tier Killer or a Killer I am not good at.
I could just play Nurse all the time and slug and tunnel a lot on her, I would probably have a way higher Killrate than I usually have, but this would not be fun for me.
For a bit more context on my situation I spent years believing and sticking with the thought of tunneling and slugging is bad so I had it engraved into my head that I don't like to do it to others because when I played survivor I didn't like it. So now when I do try to do things such as tunnel or slug I fail a lot because I don't know how to do it properly while also having the mindset of I need to learn everything killer in the game I try using all killers bad or not and nearly every time I use a really strong killer my chances go from 1 in every 12 chances to 1 in every 4 chances it could more then likely be a skill issue but I hear so much over and over that this game over the years has favored survivors more then killers and honestly I can't help but see it a bit and in my head the power role should always have a some form of control but it seems that a lot of the time you lose it when you go against swfs or really good survivors 24/7
I mean just stick to the killers you actively want to play and let your MMR shift to accommodate that. There isn't a ranked mode and no one knows nor cares where your hidden MMR actually is.
That isn't to say that the power differential isn't a problem and that killers do need to have their power relative to each other narrowed, but if you are not enjoying playing S-tiers on repeat, it's your choice to change that.
Assuming skill with the given characters is equal, playing a high-tier Killer does take a lot of stress out of the game. If I mess up a play on Jason, Ghoul, Billy or Blight, I just wait a few seconds and I have another chance, and each time I have the opportunity to do serious damage to the Survivors. You mess up a play as Ghostface, Sadako or even a stronger Killer like Unknown or Artist and you've easily lost 30 seconds, maybe longer before another chance appears to properly pressure Survivors or secure a down.
Some of this is that Survivors have the same tools to deal with all echelons of Killer: you need busted things like Resurgence, Vigil, Cross-Examination and Brand New Parts just to keep up with a high-tier Killer being played well with meta perks. But you bring those same tools against a Trapper with basic perks and suddenly it's Hydrogen Bomb vs Coughing Baby territory.
The other part is maps. Some maps are just too big and too full of junk for a weaker Killer to ever manage, but again this is because top-tier Killers don't really care much about distance or pallet density. Nurse can struggle somewhat on Ormond Resort because it's so huge and there are chances to break line of sight, but a Skull Merchant has basically already lost in 9/10 scenarios on the same map. It's also true that there are a few maps that Survivors really have a bad time on, and those are a major pain point as well.
We can talk about power creep, and that's a worthwhile discussion, but some Killers have just always been weak and some have just always been strong. The S tier and the F tier of Killers and of Survivor perks have not changed much in the past few years (the notable exceptions are Freddy and Myers moving out of the basement to be around average-to-good): the same guys are still there and the disparity between them is still as apparent in spite of some nerfs and buffs they have received.
Bearing all this in mind, it's tempting just to play top-tier Killers simply to avoid the stress of seeing 3 gens pop in your first chase and knowing that there's nothing you can do to counterattack. I certainly almost never play the weakest Killers anymore because it's just not fun to do your best, get nothing for it and know that you were not outplayed but just outgunned.
The answer, if there is one, is to nerf the top end of both sides to bring things down to a more sane power level: the most powerful Killers, the most powerful perks. Then you could buff the worst things on both sides while regulating maps to be more uniform in size, density and navigability (no more Fallen Refuge, no more Badham Preschool) so the game is more even, stable and dare I say fun for everyone.
So you dont actually like to tunnel and slug, but do it anyway because you believe those people who say that you NEED to do those to win?
Sounds like a recipe to make the game unfun for yourself if you play in a way you dont like to play.
Well I want to win but winning fair is seeming harder and harder at every chance that happens and sadly that is what dbd is kinda making you do in most cases cutting off a survivor in this time of dbd is the best chance
People who do very well with so called low tiers usually put a lot of time into them. If you like those killers, devote the time. Hard focus. But there's no reason to play evey killer if you don't enjoy them. I play killers whose powers I find fun. Satisfying gameplay is more enjoyable to me than winning, but that's a mindset thing.
it's possible to do just fine on weaker strategies i get easier 4ks with no power Krasue than I do Ghoul. you just gotta not be afraid of embarrassing yourself. problem is, lotta people lack perspective and will try to make your experience more miserable than the game will sometimes.
it's hard to feel like it's worth it when it can feel like a game is decided in 2 minutes and it feels gogogo
wow wow wow
I enjoy Legion very much might not win like 1 of 10 games but he is super fun in my eyes also sometimes trapper only because of the potential snowball that is very very pleasing
I honestly think a lot of killers listen to their favorite killer main and run nothing but slow downs instead of finding perks to cover their weaknesses. On top of them wanting to play many killers and not sticking to 1 or 2 and learning their kit instead of getting carried by perks
games already miserable enough, the devs fostered it with the mmr rewarding selfish plays for survivors and rewarding only kills making people sweat like its a comp game.
You know the concept of MMR right? You're forcing yourself to be outclassed every match you play.
Youre only pressured by yourself expecting to have easy wins every game.
With the kind of team mates I get in solo queue, a perkless Trapper could scrape a 2k at the very least.
You can get good with Lower tier Killers but it takes practice and Macro knowledge. You will get Gen Rushed because it's the safest effective thing Survivors can do against the Power Creep.
And this is where we are at. I don't even think it's fixable at this point without some major Killer Nerfs that would send the S tiers into a keyboard smashing rage.
The problem is that people see MMR as some form of prize or trophy and not as what is is: Just a way to determine matchmaking. Like, you dont get anything from sweating in DBD like your life depends on it, except for stronger opponents. And you cannot even show anything for all the sweating, since MMR is hidden.
BHVR doesn't really have a reason to do anything. Player numbers are higher than ever, queue times for both sides are acceptable. There's no reason to even drop balance patches apparently, because that's how well the game is currently doing.
You can enjoy low tier killers, you just shouldn't expect to win.
Play whatever killers you enjoy. I currently enjoy Pig and Freddy the most, so that's who I play the most. I don't think any deeper than that.
"Don't expect to win" In a game that's suppose to be competitive haha great advice
Maybe because you (a lot of killers at least) tunnel out of existence any new player. Enjoy
Yeah no, we aren't pressured into high tiers at all, I still play Huntress/Trickster/Unknown coz I prefer ranged killers
That's very dismissive of someone's lived experiences that they are sharing and trying to gaslight people by saying "you aren't feeling the way you just told me you are feeling" is kind of messed up.
Yet you mention one mid b tier, one who is like low b to high c-tier killer and high c-tier (huntress, uknown, trickster) thats not of a good use of low tier killers especialy the b tier ones.
Like huntress is still solid if you have good aim and hit your axe you will still do well, uknown can feel like bum still but his tp and ranged power plush im being 4,6 m/s still has something going for him and trickster is low but if you have good aim or you dont play on controller then he can do good too because he can outplay some loop but killers like sadako, pig, ghostface cant do that.
People would have you believe they are unplayable though the way they talk. Just play what you like, who cares.
Exactly play what you like and how you like, just here everyone bms about some tunnel or bully squad.
The devs kind of just let weak killers rot which results in you needing to put much more effort to get the same mileage. If you just want to play casually, then of course your best option will be to play the strongest killers.
Because you are.
Yes there's a mindset problem at play here, but it's also a competitive game ( I will die on that hill, the word has a #)$*#$'ing definition ) so playing to win is the general goal.
In short, there are High scaling killers like Jason, Nurse, etc. These killers demolish survivors who do not do X. So survivors do X.
BHVR pays inordinate attention to these stats, particularly newer releases. That means they balance the system based off of new stats, including survivors doing X. Survivors need to do X to stand a chance against the strong killers and that's important to remember.
The problem here is that X is entirely overkill for the lower scaling killers. However, survivors can't simply reselect their perks and kits when they find out they are facing a hag. They walked in armed, ready, and practiced at doing X. So they do X. Hag, as a result, becomes largely worthless in the face of X.
This leads to more killers not playing killers susceptible to X. This leads to BHVR Releasing more killers who are not susceptible to X, as why would you buy a killer that is auto-countered by the standard meta of X. This leads then to BHVR releasing more and more perks that assist and lean into X. The end result is that anything outside the competitive cycle of X is going to feel completely underpowered, creating pressure (intentional pressure mind you) to play killers who handle X well, so that new releases will better sell.
You are, quite literally, being pressured into picking S-tier's.
There is an exception in those who main lower tiers and get cracked at them, but if you ask around most survivors do not enjoy playing against them. A 10k hour Huntress or Slinger is absolutely oppressive and miserable to face off against. Same for Twins, etc etc.
So your end options are :
A) Become so good at a killer that you make Survivors hate playing with you.
B) Play an S-tier killer that scales better against X.
C) Change your mentality and abandon competitive goals.
A is not talked about often for a reason. It's miserable, discourages people getting good at a main, and makes everyone on both sides look bad. B is frowned on because it is an easier form of doing A. C is often discarded due to 'don't play to win' being a wildly unpopular approach.
X can be any number of things in the current push meta. Right now it's just gen times, exhaustion builds, STB, Vigil, all that niche of perks and playstyles.
TL-DR; You feel pressured because you are pressured. You can alleviate that pressure by playing an S-tier, becoming cracked at a lower tier, or just discarding 'winning' or 'losing' from your mindset entirely in DBD and play for fun.
