I Lose to Ghoul so Fast that My Rank gets Demoted

And a pop up comes up accusing me of sand bagging my team. Does anyone have any suggestions? This happens I think because the typical (read: "all") Ghoul players rely on the outdated strategy of tunneling the first person out.

Legitimately need a counter-strategy for solo queue. Thanks guys

Crazy idea. Have you tried, umm, getting good? How about this one. Learning how to loop? I think if you did either one of these 2 things you would have a better time.

  • You're not going to find sympathy in this killer-sided forum, but honestly who cares about grades at this point?

The go-next punishments were put in place for killers, so if your opponent is better than you and tunneling you there's not much you can do.

    What's a go-nexzt punishment?

  • Killers were upset people didn't want to play vs camp + tunnel + 4 slowdowns every game so BHVR put in a detection system that punishes you if it suspects you died too fast.

You should be thankful, they were going to make it give you a DC penalty.

Right Its not like survivors were tired of there teammates going next because they ran into a wall and they quite. It's definitely the killer wanted to make sure it's humans they are playing against.

Could have swore I was hearing all the survivors complaining about the go next epidemic but sure let's go with it's the killers fault.

I can promise you it's there, you could probably look it up. Didn't take a screenshot but Steam community says this "Additionally, players can intentionally derank for fun, but this is not a formal mechanic of the game"- but I will tell you I'm not doing this "for fun". I'm not sure why you'd accuse me of lying- it's there, and a Ghoul does it to me every few weeks.

Ah yes the bots that were instantly made useless because killers complained they were getting outplayed by an AI are so useful for survivors and I'm definitely glad resources went towards them instead of fixing the issues survivor has had for the last few years.

That doesnt check out because unless your playing a ranged killer you can easily abuse the ai to make mistakes and get easy downsts was.

The go next prevention was put in place because survivors were complaining about all the other survivors going next on hook. That doesn't hurt the killer in anyway it actually benefits them to get a quick 3v1. You can try to gaslight that the go next prevention is a killer sided change but is objectively not if all 4 survivors stay in the game it's much harder on the killer then that 3v1 so that math isn't mathing.

You do get a DC penalty if the game thinks you are doing it again after a derank.

@Topic to mitigate this issue not popping us as much, being left on hook until second stage should remove the go next penalty as you physically where left on hook.

  • That go next prevent is a killer side update like I said if a survivor goes next its a 3v1 which is pretty much a guaranteed win. The go next makes it so either they stay in the match and it's a 4v1 which makes it harder on the killer then a 3v1 or they dc and they at least get a bot that can do gens and the killer still has to take the time to down the ai which is time they aren't defending gens. Saying it's a killer sided change is just objectively wrong.

It doesn't stop anything though. I don't go a single killer session without someone trying to get killed quick to leave, often at match start. If I don't oblige they just chase me around or noise spam. These people are probably even more detrimental than a 3v1 because they're actively sabotaging. It isn't a killer or survivor sided change. It's an attempt to look like something was done when it really wasn't.

I do agree with you. I wasn't trying to say it was a survivor sided update but that it was definitely not a killer sided update. If anything I would say it does swing more towards a survivor side update though do to it taking away the 3v1 but I am 100% ok with it because it's attempting fix a serious problem that ruins the match for both sides.

Thanks for replying! Could you add a some how to's and when's?

How to loop: Use check spots, learn how to properly fast vault a window consistently, learn how to fast vault shack window consistently, learn how to hug loops tight, use proper pathing so that you make the pallet/vault, pre-drop unsafe pallets, leave a loop when given the chance and when it becomes unsafe.

Things to do against Kaneki: Learn pallet revault tech, learn how to hold distance, learn how to block him from pallets, learn how to block him from windows.

Do these consistently and you will have better matches and make most Ghoul's, and pretty much every other killer, not have a good time.

  • Unfortunately, tunneling is still very much meta. BHVR even endorses it as an official strategy. They nerf any perk that combats tunneling or makes it harder to tunnel.

Me I'm just grateful when I don't get killers that come back to hook to tunnel because that crap is terrible. I mean, I can at least understand tunneling at 1 gen. But the killers who do the crap right out the gate are the worst.

Getting nerfed but still being insanely OP doesn't matter. Those perks literally reshape the way a game will play out. I don't know how many matches I've played as a survivor running those perks that turned a game from a 3-4k into a 3-4 out because the killer was unable to get any momentum from hooking/tunneling me. And yes Cross Examination needs to be nerfed and was already going to get nerfed if you read the patch notes. It's not that it's to good at "combating tunneling" it's that it literally makes being chased a cake walk. The perk shouldn't work while you're being chased. Elusive is the second strongest status effect survivors can get and it shouldn't be able to be obtained by just being chased normally.

  • If you stay in the match to aquire knowledge about the ghoul creatures favourite crayon flavour you can dodge this punishment.

Today i encountered three of these marvelous animals in their natural habitat, hardtunneling some survivor with 34 hours on the clock.

Two of them did not understand my well formulated question, but that is normal. The mental qualities of the population have been in a steep decline since, well, since the release i presume.

One of then answered "blue". I assume "red" and "blue" are the usual favourites, because they subconciously remember the color of their body. Furthermore thinking or logical conclusions are simply too hard for them.

Simple minded, but truly fantastic creatures let me tell you.

DS is still literally one of the strongest perks in the game if not used like a neanderthal. Dead Hard was nerfed and is yet still one of the strongest perks in the game and is ran in almost every single match I play. The amount of time Dead Hard can add to chase will determine if the killer wins or loses the match. Plot Twist is 100% an anti-tunnel perk when played properly and ran with perks like DS forcing the killer to make the decision between picking you up and eating DS or letting you full heal. Deli is anti-tunnel because you basically gain no pressure by going back for the person that used Deli. The other 3 people are still just cranking away at gens. And if you're running Deli it's almost always paired with perks like DS, DH, and Plot Twist. Which is actually the strongest perk combination in the game.

And the last thing that happened to DS was a nerf from a 5s stun to a 4s stun.

But if you mean I'm bad at survivor, I think I'm doing okay:

Because these forums tend to be whatever side you don't main. I swear I notic if a killer comes in an complains about something every survivor will show up and tell they how wrong they are and they need to get good but you don't get to main other killer players coming in agreeing or have a positive thing to say. The reverse is ture for survivors as well. Alot of people on here prefer to tell you how your wrong then actually have a discussion or make constructive criticism.

You said they weren't nerfed. You were wrong. I wasn't talking about their usage. Yeah, they're in all my killer matches too. Doesn't stop me from winning more than I lose. They're used because they sometimes work and nothing better is available. It's the same as killers using regress every match while complaining about how weak they are. Both sides are full of people who feel obligated to run these perks.

Calling Plot Twist an anti-tunnel perk cause it can potentially synergize with anti-tunnel perks is disingenuous. By itself, it's not anti-tunnel. Same with Deliverance. You can't call perks anti-tunnel because they can pair with anti-tunnel perks.

It can happen so long as the match is under 2 mins long.

It can happen I've gone down to nurse before, basically farmed off hooks both stages and got a warning no penalties , 30 seconds later everyone gets the abandon condition from being down and leaves the game with no penalty.

It may be harder to prox I agree with you their, but its def not impossible, especially if someone is struggling with looping / gameplay of a certain killer or like in my pervious example team is farming you off hook against a strong tunneling killer both of which I personally think should not be punished.

I actually never said these perks weren't nerfed, you're just seeing things. And they're ran every match because they do work. I get value out of DH, DS, or Deli every single match I play. Sometimes I get value out of multiple or all of them. The only reason these perks sometimes get value is because people don't understand how to properly use them. Forcing locker with DS is a perfect way or either getting value out of it or wasting the killers time. Using Plot Twist does the same thing. Deli also does the same thing. DH extends chases far longer than they need to be. The fear of these perks causes chases to last longer and tunnel outs to happen far less. These perks may not be what they were in their hayday but they are still oppressively strong and will continue to shape the way matches play out for the rest of DBD lifespan until something is done about them. I honestly can't think of a single killer perk or even a group of killer perks that have as much impact on the outcome of a match that perks like DS, DH, Deli, STB can have.

"These perks are so nerfed" yes, they are. DH and DS are nerfed perks.

You're acting like hopping in a locker with DS is a peak tactic and not the most obvious and basic thing people do with DS. People do this to me, I eat the stun, and they generally go down within 10s. What kind of value is that? People use it because the options are crap. The stun should be longer.

You can't tell me you get value out of them every match you play. You're saying you've never once been hooked with Deliverance not yet active? You've never missed a DH timing? Never had a match where you weren't tunneled or didn't get downed right after the stun wore off?

I honestly can't think of a single killer perk or even a group of killer perks that have as much impact on the outcome of a match that perks like DS, DH, Deli, STB can have.

DS stun against nurse: "am I a joke to you?"

DS has lost a lot of its power in public lobbies due to the overabundance of "new breed" / power creep killers. They can catch up in literal seconds, making the distance gained from ds utterly useless.

It's still one of the best anti-tunneling perks, but has lost a lot of its power over the recent years.

I hate to say this, but the strongest "anti-tunnel" things are probably chase extenders you feel comfortable with using. Add that to a strong looper and a good map and the killer is going to waste more time on the tunnel than they would on a fresh hook.

So as bad as it sounds: counter tunneling by getting good.

Decisive and Dead Hard have been nerfed. Decisive is crap against most killers.

How is Deliverance an anti-tunnel perk? It's pretty much a please-tunnel-me perk.

    How is Plot Twist anti-tunnel?

You forgot Babysitter though. But it was nerfed by diminishing returns.

If its crap why its meta still?

Same argument as claiming pop or pain res got nerfed or corrupted and are crap or dead lock, but they are still meta and among best perks arent they.

DH is harder to use bust more stronger in effect, DS still destroyes any killer that has no ability to catch up fast and gives you chance, now thers shoulder which can make swf control the hooks.

You are talking about the perks as though they haven't been nerfed:

They nerf any perk that combats tunneling? So I'm just crazy whenever I load up DBD and see DS, DH, OTR, STB, Deli, Plot Twist? These perks are so nerfed that some of them have been meta for years and some of them are the strongest perks in the entire game.

I actually can tell you I get value out those perks every match. Yes, I get hooked with Deli not active, I still have DH and DS I can use. Yes, I miss a DH timing, I still have DS I can use. Yes, I don't get to DS the killer every match. Now I get to run away, do a gen, and still have DH to use in the next chase. I actively get value out of one of those perks every single match I play because I play into them. I understand the playstyle of them and have adapted to that. If I'm not first chase then I almost always need to be the unhooker so I setup for the unhook. If I am first chase I make sure to try and time my DH properly or figure out how the use my DS the right way if I'm getting tunneled. I constantly waste an insane amount of time for most killers that chase me with these perks and they offer insane value to my team. The only way these perks wouldn't be meta and used every match is if some other insane perk that did what they do but better was added.

  • genuinely hilarious how people will, in the same post, brag about aggressively using multiple 'anti tunnel' perks to make the game unplayable for mid/low tiers and then complain that killers only play high tiers and try counter those perks

Literally my point. People use them not because they're amazing but because they're the options available. DS needs to go back to being a 5s stun. I down people the moment I recover with my main. It' crap against strong killers.

It just gets so old to have this happen time and time again when someone tries to start a legit discussion only to have people who only play one side derail the conversation by taking cheap shots (that have nothing to do with the topic) at the side they don’t like.

I agree it's annoying but you got to try and ignore the stupid attempt to have the conversation you want.

"Learn pallet revault tech, learn how to hold distance, learn how to block him from pallets, learn how to block him from windows."- You could have at least tried to be a little less condescending.
