Survivors that complain about Slowdown Perks, what DO you want Killers to run?

I personally would rather have a Meta of Slowdown Perks, than a Meta of say Chase Perks. Because what Slowdown ultimately is is Conversion. It makes every Down and Hook more valuable, but it doesn't actually help you to get said Downs and Hooks. You have to actually use your Power for that.

If Killers can't convert their Downs more effectively, the only other way is to GET the Downs Faster. The Thing is, ending Chases faster reliably only works if you take away Options from the Survivor, which is what literally every Chase Perk does.
And this just makes Chases more Procedural rather than Interactive. You are not thinking "I want to last as long as possible" you would be thinking "I will go down in 30 seconds no matter what I do, so might as well die in the Corner".
I mean just play against a Nurse with 4 Aura vs 4 Slowdown Perks.
The Aura Nurse just hits and downs you no matter what you do, so you just focus on slamming gens and dying in the Corner.
The Slowdown Nurse may actually have a better Chance of winning … if they are good. Because you can actually outplay them, last in Chase, and prevent their Slowdown Perks from coming into play.

You can't tell me that you seriously prefer the first one?

  • One of those old builds from back in the day with Ruin + BBQ every single game, plus a chase perk and something else.

Healthiest killer meta we've ever had.

  • Surely the ideal situation for both roles, would be being able to run whatever perk loadout you want and still have a chance to win. Unfortunately, as is the nature of Multiplayer games this is unfeasible because both sides continually improve and thus have to adapt to each other's efficiency; thus meta strats are born.

There's no real point to going "well survivors what do YOU want killers to run" because the exact opposite also applies. Survivors run their chase perks/second chance perks because they help prolong chase and counter the strongest meta strats in the game so Killers then have to adapt to THAT and it just continues and continues.

Personally, I'd like for slowdown/chase perks to not be 100% necessary for both roles but EVEN IF that were true, people would still run them regardless. They'd still be meta due to what role they fill.

The true solution to this problem, outside of the developer rebalancing meta perks in 'shakeups' like done previously, is to just stop caring what people run and accept that they are ran for a perfectly justifiable reason.

  • At this point, im sure youll have ppl complaining about anything. 2 of the most hated killer perks might I remind you are Lightborn and Franklin's.

Eh I figured it would. I really don’t care about downvotes. I’m going to say what I think and not anonymously hide behind a button. I think people should actually have to articulate their opinions to engage here, but I don’t make the rules here.

  • In all honesty I’m not really sure what kind of response you’re hoping for as everyones taste and annoyances and skills are different. The individuals that hate slowdown may prefer you to run aura but guess what? There’s people that hate aura and would prefer you to run slow down. The list is endless because survivors and killers are not a massive hive mind that all think the same and have the same preferences or gripes. Now does that mean that those that hate slowdown are wrong? No. Does that mean those that like slowdown are wrong? No. Its preference. It’s an option. It’s an opinion.

Just play the perks you want to play with and don’t worry about if someone hates that perk. You have to play against perks that you don’t like but they like, and they are playing against your perks that you like and they don’t like it.

The only way to make a game that makes everyone happy is to not make one at all.

  • I don't complain publicly but if I'm versing a top tier / high mobility such as ghoul or blight with a full slow down build I will eyeroll at a pain res into dms into grim.

Honestly tho a worse build to verse is the slug build going around recently, has made me switch in unbreakable.

  • Best to me is when there's variety. What I don’t want to go up against is four of the same thing. It's obnoxious, and I don't think it should even be possible. Instead of diminishing, I would have rather them just limited builds to no more than two in a set category.

You say that, but yourself is also hiding behind a computer using a fake name on this forums, stop being hypocrite.
You say people should articulate their opinions but you opinion itself is just another form of "We need slowdown or we can't play the game", yet you fail to understand why slowdown perk are kinda of problem and how unfun they are to go against, ESPECIALLY in Solo Queue. You also fail to put into perspective how slowdown perks differ in effective depending on both Killer and Survivor, but it heavies way more to the Killer side, Killer that get quick downs just insta-win the game because it don't halt the momentum, it kill it, making working on Gen early pointless because the first down will make it go to 0% anyway. On less powerful killers they are a NECESSITY because they don't have the power to keep up be it because of weak chase potential or low mobility, this create the scenario were a strong killer Pain Res just make the match unbearable, while a weaker Killer Pain Res is strong but doable.

The fact that both Survivor and Killer are "forced" to play with X perks just to have a chance at what their consider winning, by itself is problematic, what is the point of having 100+ Perks, 20+ Killers, if everyone is gonna play the same sh*t because is the best.

  • A mix of chase, info and slowdown is the most healthy imo. It shouldnt be the best option go slap on four regression perks.

  • I mean, first of all, it is subjective what people like or dislike. E.g. there are Survivors who complain about Aura Reading, while others have no issue with that.

Personally, I am that kind of person who heavily dislikes Killers who run too many Slowdown-Perks. The game is balanced around having some form of Slowdown, but nobody really NEEDS 4 Slowdown-Perks. Running 4 Slowdowns is basically prolonging the game to a point where all ressources are gone and the longer a match takes, the more killer-sided it gets.

Obviously, this also depends on the Killer. If you are running Blight with 4 Slowdowns and Double Speed, I question that you are not really confident in playing Killer. If you run multiple Slowdowns on Trapper, you will more likely need it. But even there I would still say that you dont need 4 Slowdowns. That most Slowdown-Perks are not affected by Diminishing Returns makes it even a bigger issue for me. Like, if I would use Dejavu and Resilience to increase Genspeeds, a Killer who uses PGTW and Pain Res will have no issue with Diminishing Returns while I will have Dejavu reduced. Just as an example.

Overall I think a mix of Slowdown, Chase and Information Perks is important and the most healthy. And this brings me to my main point why I really dislike Killers who bring 4 Slowdowns - it is braindead. You can run the same 4 Slowdowns on every Killer without using a single thought on it. And especially on Killer you have so much variety that way more Perks become interesting, depending on the Killer you are playing. E.g. you can use vastly different Perks on a Stealth Killer, a Setup Killer, a Chase Killer or a Mobility Killer. Yet some people decide to use the same 4 Perks on each of them. And for me it is much more interesting to use different Perks. E.g. high mobility Killers or Killers who need to build their power (e.g. Nemesis) can easily run Lethal Pursuer (and the high mobility Killers BBQ as well). While a Chase Killer might benefit from using Brutal Strength or Spirit Fury/Enduring. Killers who can vault can use Dissolution. A Killer who mainly injures with M1 can use Sloppy Butcher, while a Killer who uses their power to down people can use Gift of Pain.

Ive been on a stealth streak since secret project came out. Apex muffler stealth billy is terrifying lol. Its funny to do on killers not normally silent. Spirit is another one. Bubba can be scary if he just shows up. Stealth killers you kinda expect it. Wesker you dont.

  • I would love it if I could run as few slowdown perks as possible and I try to use a heuristic that the stronger the Killer I'm playing, the fewer I put in my build, but there are maps and Survivor builds/playstyles that make that a real pain even if I'm playing a powerful Killer. Unless BHVR decides to regularise map size and density (and maybe nerf the strongest Exhaustion Perks and Vigil so pre-running isn't as effective), I can't see a world where Corrupt and Pain Res aren't at the top of the tier list because they give low-mobility Killers a chance to engage with the game before it ends. Information perks are also reviled by some players but again, in a world where many maps are gigantic and full of clutter, wasting a lot of valuable time trying to sniff out that virtually undetectable Ace or Claudette in the darkest possible outfit is just not an option for Killers who won't even guarantee a down in those scenarios. Windows of Opportunity is the most popular Survivor perk for a reason, why shouldn't Killers also use aura perks to navigate their objective? Chase perks are the unloved stepchild of the Killer arsenal. There are some really good ones, but they're either situational to the Killer or map (Rapid Brutality, Bamboozle), potentially easily countered (any hex perk, most Undetectable perks) or just plain weird and kind of niche (Game Afoot, Unbound, Help Wanted etc.) so using them over guaranteed value from info or slowdown is usually a bad choice. BHVR could make them less of a bad choice by buffing them while also regularising maps so slower Killers are less dependent on slowdown, and maybe if they were brave they could implement the No Stacking patch to make bringing too many kinds of slowdown redundant.

Unfortunately you can never make the whole playerbase happy. There are too many disparate types of player and many of them have diametrically opposed visions of an ideal match of DBD. Compare this forum to the subreddit, to various Discord servers, to Twitch communities and to the silent mass of casual players who don't regularly engage with any of them. All of them are very different and have very different opinions on the game. As someone who came to this forum relatively late (and after already having a lot of hours in the game), I'm still routinely baffled by some of the takes I come across here that seem to be fairly popular.

  • My reason for disliking 3-4 slowdown perks that specifically target gens is, compared to other forms of slowdowns, there's no real decision making on how to deal with them beyond small things like dying edgemap to limit PR or timing letting go when a hook is about to occur.

Other forms of pressure generated by anti-heal or chase perks have much more active decision making in order to deal with, keeping the game varied. Gen slowdown just stretches the game out without any meaningful change to play.

Likewise it really doesn't adjust killer play all that much. Just chase people around and hope the passive regression/blocks buy you enough time to win by default, if you're not able to close chases quickly. I tend not to full stack this kind of slowdown, and more often than not I don't bring a single gen perk.

I think survivor players in general don't want specific perks. I think they just want there to be more variety in build design. PR & DMS would not bother me at all if it was not present every few games.

I also did a Stealth Build on Billy, but this was a few months back, Secret Project was not out at this point. But it was fun and quite efficient. Even tho I would classify that as a Fun Build. But even if you play strictly to win, there are more builds possible than just Gen Slowdown.

This is a good point. I think a good example of this was Leverage/Gift of Pain. As Killer you had the decision making if you want to run both of those Perks, because the payoff can be huge since healing takes a long amount of time or if you want to only run one of them, because you risk that Survivors just stay injured, which would make them onehit, but remove the Slowdown-Potential of two of your Perks.

Meanwhile as Survivor you had the decision making to either heal or not heal. And this is not really the case for Gen Slowdown, this is just "Gens take longer". The only real decision making here is if you really want to carry a Survivor to a Scourge Hook, since it might be the case that Gens only have barely any progress and you waste your Pain Res on a 1% Gen. But this is more macro gameplay.

  • TBH gen regression perks are a noob trap. It's much better to run perks that help you snowball rather than perks that help you when you fail. So keep running gen regression as a survivor main, it's a really good idea.

  • Honestly if i was good enough, i would run builds with no gen slowdown

Ruin alone is a big no no tho. With how long the game is out there not knowing totem spawns is not an excuse, ruin alone should last max 40 seconds into the match if the team has more than 100 hours combined.

Excluding you go directly to protect the totem, in which case people can just slam gens.

I can also get a game where sable goes down in 30 seconds and gives up against idk springtrap, that doesn't mean springtrap is strong, I do not judge strength based on my opponents being literal goldfish I asume they can play. So I repeat if the team you are versing is not throwing or has more than 100 hours altogether there is no excuse for ruin lasting that long if you use it alone
