Chess pls! DBD themed. We all know Quinten deserves to the king on the survivor side.....
Let the grand debate begin! 😈
-
Choose your role, then choose your game mode: Normal or Challenge.
Survivors who choose “Normal” play the game as it is now. Survivors who choose “Challenge” play with significantly longer gen times and get a bp bonus (50%? 100%?)
Killers are reversed. “Normal puts them in the long gen-time matches, and “Challenge” puts them in the matches as they are today for a bp bonus.

Actually spotting a p3 Claudette to begin with!

Whether I survive or kill, it’s always that sound. So satisfying it is, the snap! of the Trapper trap.

You should think of a rework of the herdsman, because this is not possible.
I completely agree! In its current state it would not even be possible in the real world. Rework it so it at least seems reasonable and realistic.

Pretty sure the Devs have said they're not gonna touch gen times.
And what do you expect them to do with SWF?
For SWF, BHVR needs to add their own voicechat system and make it easier to use than the 3rd party stuff currently in use. If it’s easy and conveniently in-game, people will use it (even if it’s not everyone).
Then they need to limit it. You can chat with survivors who are within x meters of you. This keeps it fair to the killer and maintains the ambiance of desperation and cooperating with other random victims. Furthermore, imagine if the killer could hear voices within range as well. There could even be perks to affect this!

MHW: Iceborne. Been playing it more or less nonstop all weekend since it finally came out on PC. Been waiting for almost half a year for it since it launched on consoles, so being able to experience it is consuming my free time.
Ah yes! I’ve got it on PS4 and it’s a blast! The original “World” version (pre-Iceborne) is actually the reason I ever bought a PS4 to begin with, and I couldn’t be more pleased it’s my purchase!
Sounds like you’re having a good time too! Lemme guess, it was Friday night just a couple hours ago, huh? Yup, the MHW time-vortex hard is at work... 😏

Did you know that in photos and on store shelves, wristwatches are always displayed with the hands at 10 and 2?
Your brain interprets this as a smile, which subconsciously makes you more inclined to buy.
-
They tested, but as I recall it was more a concern of server stability. During that 2 day test, lots of people were punished with timeouts as a result of the servers dropping them, buggy loads of the tally screen AFTER the match, and various other bugs. Obviously unfair.
Haven’t heard anything on it since, so I assume BHVR is still crunching the data from that test run. They prolly need to work out a lot of kinks before this goes live, but by golly I hope it doesn’t take too long! DCs are ridiculous!

No I did not! Did you know that crows are very intelligent? One may even be able to remember your face.
That’s actually extremely true! In particular, they remember the faces of people who have wronged them, and they definitely hold grudges..... (and you thought survivors were salty!)
They are also very creative. Crows in cities will drop nuts at intersections so that cars will crunch them open. Then they swoop down to eat when the light turns red.
The only bird considered more intelligent than a crow is a raven, but they’re both in the same family (Corvids).

Did you see the matchmaking on the results screens? Several of those games at the beginning were are rank 10 killer against a bunch of red rank survs.......

We are talking about a game where survs used to get sprint burst twice in 1 chase, 3x as many pallets, infinites, insta ds, insta blinds. Insta bnps. Self care could be used mid chase. Pallets had massive vaccume.
Sorry but killers have dealt with faaar worse. Do killers realize how bad they used to have it compared to now? Or am I reading from new killers?
You’re not wrong, not at all. Yes, I believe many people are new-ish players (about a year and a half for me), but that’s not even the biggest issue.
The problem is that the game has come to be so polarizing. Are you Team S or Team K? The devs are now in a “political” situation where no matter what little thing you do (or if you do nothing at all), half the community will hate you for it.
We're seeing such volatile reactions right now because they’re heavily editing what has been a staple perk for so long. Generally people hate change anyway, but this is a change to what is seen as a bandaid to a core issue (gen speeds) without addressing that core issue. This is why people are losing their minds. Already I’m seeing posts about queue times becoming problematic
In all, there’s actually a lot of interesting psychology to observe here. Just about everyone, on every side of the argument, has valid points they’ve made as well. Guess we’ll just have to watch and see how this all plays out. The devs would do well to thoroughly consider their next few actions and even comments to the community until people have adjusted.
-
Along with skill checks, make survivors watch for “entity arms” to emerge from the gens and stab at them. Either run a few steps away to dodge, or scream and suffer a Deep Wound
- gen times increase by default
- gens are no longer lame, and are in fact quite dangerous
- fear returns to the game for veteran players (or at least an increased level of uneasiness), and this = fun.
- scanning for the killer is now more challenging since you’re watching the gen as well.
-
@AChaoticKiller said:
this shouldn't even be a perk, make this a game mechanic. survivors can easily cleanse totems and if dull totems posed more of a threat then they might go for them in the early game when they see them which saves the killer some time.
Honestly, yes! I completely agree! This would:
- Help with the whole notion of “2nd objective” (Cleaning dulls)
- Give the killer the ability to actually do something about bad spawns and jeopardized hexes
- Make new Ruin potentially viable in late game
- AND allow the killer to use 4 actual perks (instead of wasting a slot on this.)
-
@Speshul_Kitten said:
Why should you have fun at the expense of 4 other people? Who’s gonna spend more money on the game, 4 of them or 1 of you?
Those 4 people are gonna have their fun sitting in lobbies if we aren’t careful. I’m trying not to take sides on the Ruin change one way or another, but just looking at the community reaction tells me that we may be at a tipping point here.
.
”woooooo! Finally got a game! That was was a horrendous wait time!”
-dodge-
-
I’m glad you guys like it! You could also use this to protect discovered hexes.
For example, you interrupt/grab somebody off of your 4-token Devour Hope hex. Close one, yikes! Better move that sucker while the survivor hangs on a time-out hook and thinks about what he’s done!

I'm not gonna be playing, but it's not due to the changes. Just have another game that's gonna snag my attention coming out in a couple days here...
Might I ask which one has your attention?
-
I would vote mine as “Extend my leave of absence”.
After I completed the rift, I was burnt out. Haven’t played one match since, though I still haunt the forums from time to time.
Okay, so I play both roles pretty evenly. With these changes coming out, I won’t see much difference as killer since I don’t use Ruin that much anyway (I never progress past purple rank FYI.) As survivor though, I expect to see exorbitant queue times and I’m not down for that. This will likely lead to survivors being rather salty and more inclined toward toxic behavior, simply because they’re frustrated with waiting, and I’m not really down for that.
So in the end, I’m going to wait for this to work itself out. PS4 has plenty to occupy my time. I’ll keep mining void crystals on Elite:Dangerous, slaying Barioths on Monster Hunter, and stepping on those teeny tiny lil humans on Titanfall. I’ll be fine! 😎
-
Empathy.
It’s like a long-range Bond, but with the people who matter. The person who gets injured is usually very close to the killer. Their actions tell you if they’re still being chased. This is better info than Spine Chill.
Furthermore, you can plan out risky maneuvers if you know where the action is. Flashlight saves, Instaheals, protection hits, etc. Need to heal someone for challenges? Easy!
-
Those lobby dodges are really gonna sting in the near future.......
-
I was just thinking, if a mechanic like this we’re added in, it could lead to a very useful new perk!
I would call it Torchbearer.
Extinguish a hex and carry its flame to any dull totem, with the effect inactive during that time. You can carry the flame for 1/2/3 minutes before the hex dies out and is lost. While carrying a flame, the auras of all dull totems are visible. Upon lighting a new totem, this perk has a 2 minute cooldown.
-
Use Huntress. Hit them with a close range hatchet, then with your axe immediately afterward. You don’t hafta wait as long as the melee attack cooldown. Any speed burst they get helps them very little since you’re already ready
Also, and I maybe wrong here, but I‘m not sure they even get a speed burst from hatchet hits. (It’s been a while for me)
-
I think simply allowing me to place it on any dull totem I want, whenever I’m ready to surprise them with the effect, would make it usable for me.
-
I just realized a great scenario as killer. Just imagine: they’ve 3-gened themselves and you see an easily defendable totem right in the middle of all 3 of them. Light that sucker up and they won’t know what hit ‘em!
-
@Well_Placed_HexTotem said:
sorry but I disagree with that idea. Without Ruin, slower and weaker killers are already at a massive disadvantage early. Giving them a task they must accomplish to use their hex totem seems like overkill. What if you never find a decent totem spot?
Fair enough about the weak killers. However, this change to Ruin is going through one way or another, so they’re pretty well outta luck regardless.
As for finding a totem, you could always activate the first one you come across. Many times it’ll still be better than what RNG chooses (I’m looking at you, totem beneath the light of the tractor!)
Still, you make a good point. What if you could see a dull grey aura of all dull totems until you activate the hex? (To powerful? You’ll see them as they disappear during cleansing....)
-
Have the killer activate a dull totem when he thinks the time is right. He walks up to it and gets a prompt. Hitting the prompt activates the totem and the effect is applied to the match.
This makes it a middle-of-the-road hex that’s viable for late-game. Not OP because the effect isn’t active all match and dull totems can be cleansed early. Not a vulnerable hex all game either as it’s safe until activated.
The ability to choose a safe totem is pretty revolutionary as well.
-
Have the killer activate a dull totem when he thinks the time is right. He walks up to it and gets a prompt. Hitting the prompt activates the totem.
This would be huge because he can choose which totem takes the hex. Furthermore he can surprise the survivors with this perk later in the game, as they won’t know about it until it activates.
If survivors ever needed more incentive to work bones, here ya go!

But Ruin almost always lasts less than CI though.
True, but there’s still that chance. Maybe you get a good spawn spot. Maybe it lasts all game. Maybe you play Trapper and get a team of victi— erm, survivors who just can’t stop running toward that shiny flame! For me, I think a risky chance at “great” is better than a guaranteed “mediocre”.

That's what I'm talking about. Like, even if losing a gen early doesn't automatically lose you the game, it feels terrible to have to concede a gen.
I feel like a lot more people will run CI now, which like, more power to them. It's an OK perk and is healthier than Ruin. I just hope the devs talk more about map size because it's definitely an issue.
Ugh, and I hate CI. A few short minutes and then it’s gone. Then you run around with a wasted perk slot the rest of the game. It’s like using a hex that’s guaranteed to be cleansed. At least with Ruin there was a CHANCE that you’d get decent time from it. As survivor it gives me leisure time to hunt for chests and totems. Hardly a concern. If CI is the new power perk by default......yeesh!

jokes on you, they already have the solution for long survivor match making: just remove rank altogether!
Dadgum it! You got me there!
-
Ruin is used in 80% of games.... 🤔
That seems high.....🤔
Like it’s a symptom of something bigger....🤔
Well if someone is coughing, give them a cough suppressant, right? Never mind the fact that it’s caused by tuberculosis!
Along those lines, make Ruin less useful so it won’t be used as much! That should bring the number back down to normal! Problem solved! No more symptom.
.......
Survivor match-making times are now consistently 15 minutes+ across all platforms......🤔
-
Well, on the plus side of things (cuz I always look for the silver lining), killers will have really short matchmaking times from now on.
-
I just don’t get it! Why main Adam when you could choose Quentin?!?
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!! 😂
-
Oh, makes sense if survivors don’t cure their disease. They run around broken all match, thereby CHOOSING to be susceptible to this perk.
-
Might also be that new Breakout perk, helping theirs friend wiggle faster.
-
I proposed an idea in this a while back, but nobody ever took the time to read or comment. Anyway, take a look and see what you think!
@yobuddd said:
This creature of the night is shrouded in a black, misty fog, through which you barely make out the form of his body. 2 piercing eyes are clearly visible.
His weapon is a spear that forms from within the shroud to pierce straight forward, stabbing the victim for a basic attack.
His power is EchoLocation. (The point of this power is to be very powerful, but also very difficult to use effectively. I’m completely open to suggestions for edits.)
When The Darkness activates his EchoLocation power, nearby players hear a bat-like screech. His eyes become hazy and his spear forms from the shadows, longer than normal, and grows a barb. The killer also experiences a significant boost to running speed (not sure on numbers).
Drawbacks:
- EchoLocation has a significant activation and deactivation time, as well as a cooldown between uses.
- When active, nearly the entire screen is blacked out by dark, opaque fog. The only visible view of the environment is around the perimeter of this foggy rectangle. (Example: if you’re screen is 10 units across, the visible portion would be 1.5 units on each side, as well as a similar but narrower border on the top and bottom.)
- Scratch marks/blood are not visible in the blacked-out portion, of the screen. (There could be an add-on for this though!)
- Pallets will be a huge concern during chases.
Benefits:
- The killer can see the auras of nearby survivors (say, within 32 meters?) in the blacked-out portion of the screen. Though he can’t see much of the environment, he can watch the actions of the auras he’s chasing to anticipate where obstacles/vaults/etc might be. Walking sideways or sweeping the view back and forth can also help him visually see what’s out there through the margin of the screen.
- Impaling a survivor with the barbed spear fully impales them. They are stuck on the spear and carried as he chases other auras. If he stabs another survivor, they are stacked atop the first one.
Other Details:
- Survivors on the spear may still struggle, though the struggle speed is only 15% of normal and they don’t affect the Darkness’s movement. Each time another survivor is added to the stack, the struggle progress is reset and the struggle speed is reduced by 5%. 4 impaled survivors means no more struggle.
- Each survivor on the spear slows the killer’s movement speed. His bonus speed is cancelled out with 1 survivor, and each one thereafter slows him down more and more below standard speed.
- There is no timer for this mode. When the killer decides to end EchoLocation, he will automatically dump all stacked survivors onto the ground in a pile, with all of them in the dying state. -EXCEPTION- If he has stacked all 4 survivors, he will automatically end his power after 15 seconds. Once on the ground, he must still carry each survivor to a hook one-by-one.
This is the general idea. If you guys like it, I’ll try to think up some ideas for perks and add-ons.
So? What do you think?
-
I think they need to program rocks or walls onto the basement staircases so that it isn’t accessible until the bug is fixed.
-
@TigerKirby215 said:
See I'm inclined to say that you're lying but then I went up against a Trapper with Iron Grasp and Agitation who carried me across the entire map just to hook me in the basement, and then (despite not having the basement bug) no one came to unhook me and I died on first hook cause "oh he's basement bugged there's no reason to save him."
It just pisses me off that it's going to take them like 2 weeks to fix this game breaking issue on top of all the other game-breaking issues that came with this update.
There’s also the fact that he’s already proven himself as a bug exploiter, so survivor’s want to stay as far from that part of the map as possible. But yeah, don’t expect a rescue if hooked in basement.
-
Why do you choose to be a survivor main as opposed to 50/50? Do you feel like you’re missing out on any of the game this way? What could be done to encourage you to spend more time as killer?
-
I’m a “50/50 main”. Working on survivor rift challenges right now.
Question: Have you noticed a distinct uptick in killers doing everything possible to get a basement hook since the bug was discovered?
I certainly have, and it’s far more than people just doing their challenges. It’s very obvious that many are taking advantage of the situation and hiding behind the fact that there are challenges involving basements.
-
I got hooked in the basement and the screen went bright white. Then it shifted to my character in the falling animation surrounded by green clouds, as though I had fallen through the floor of the map.
I could click my flashlight and spin my view, but that was it, even after being unhooked. When the killer hit me again later on, there was still no change.
When he picked me up, my view was suddenly back to normal in the basement, and I saw a Dwight bumping into a wall (having same issue apparently).
When he hooked me the second time, it all started again. I didn’t struggle on the hook (and there was no prompt to do so), but even still the sacrifice was not immediate. I had to wait the same duration to die as I would had I been struggling.
-
Do they have to die on the hook for this to count? I’m thinking I’ll just use blood warden and run a survivor in loops until EGC is low, hook them, and then let all 4 die when the timer expires! 😈
