I don't really get what yours and @xltechno point is here.
You are talking about a japanese tournament. Most of the players around the world don't participate in tournaments nor watch them and are not even interested in them.
If you haven't noticed tunneling is normal in every tournament. (At least every one I've seen). Because of 4 swf on coms with builds in synergie and predefined roles playing on clock system, it is widely accept to tunnel in the tournament match.
We are talking about the normal dbd experience which means people mostly in solo-q, a lot of them on console and no possibilty to coordinate them in the match.
The base scenarios cannot be compared and most of the people play a game to have fun. A killer tunneling a solo-q team at 5 gens ruins the fun for most survivors instantly. People can handle to loose a game. But they wan't a fair chance. People in solo-q rarely are able to prevent the tunneling from comming through thus the fair chance is gone and the fun ruined.
I may repeat myself here but the average people don't want to play in tournament conditions hence dislike tunneling.
I explained that many survivors do this even in normal play, the viewers too. Most of the viewers are amateurs.
Why does this happen? The participants in the tournament are, of course, experts. It is natural that the general public admires them. They model themselves on the masters and try to imitate them.
Why? There are people who try to play hero and if they fail, they get angry and commit suicide, and there are people who don't give up even when the odds are against them and sometimes turn things around. Because it's obvious which one looks better. Because I'd rather be a real hero than a false one.

You should take some precautions. We all know how much selfish verbal abuse has been perpetrated.
I believe as long as the people around you and the BHVR are good, you will be fine.
-
Since it becomes easier to hear depending on the distance, there is little reason to go to the trouble of changing the sound by radius.
Rather than that, I would like the dev team to fix the fact that the volume of sound varies depending on the character.

That's not true at all tho. As a killer main, it's completely possible to get everyone to the last hook stage and still win. Makes for some close games.
That's only if the other survivors are playing with flashlights. It doesn't work for players who take the game seriously.

No it doesn't happen often but it actually happened to me yesterday lol. I cant be low MMR as I have a lot of hours in DBD and rank 1 surv in a few days if I play (not that rank means much) so I must be doing something right.
So the fact I get team mates who still let me die on first hook when I have Kindred really is quite mind blowing
Sad things often happen. However, you may have experienced something that is not the case. You smiled bitterly without getting angry, right? ``Let's move on, next'' and that's it. We always are, don't really care.

If that's the level I'm at that's the level I'm at.
The problem there is that only 2 killers can compete with good players, not that MMR is inherently a problem.
Other killers need to be brought up or both those 2 killers and good survivors be brought down to other killers level.

As for the art, Gideon and Midwich are top notch.
If I value the gameplay, I would choose Call Tower or Wreckers' Yard

DBD doesn't need tunnelling. It did better back when tunnelling was weaker.
The base kit makes tunneling more difficult than in the past. That's wrong.
@Posiedonnn1 said:
all good games have something that people cry about and it doesn't affect the player base at all because 90% of the time its a skill issue. Then once the devs attempt to listen and fix what ever there crying about then the game start to decline because there was never a problem to begin with. It was just a skill issue. So I'm glad behavior is smart enough to realize this tunneling out cry is mostly by entitled survivors and or survivors who are tired of being humbled in there bully squads.
People who complain about tunneling should post clips of them getting tunneled so we can all see the obvious skill issue, but they will never do that they will continue to cry until there hand is held and behavior adds a extremely unfair mechanic that involved zero counter play, just counter. I must say this is not all survivors mind sets just some. EGO.
Many survivors do not understand why they are suffering from tunneling behavior from the killer. Therefore, I will try to make speculations and deviate from the facts. None of the players, at least from Japan or Korea, who understand DBD's game system, complain about the tunnels and camps. Chinese don't, but they still have the means and knowledge to counter tunnels and camps.
This is not because of differences in thinking, but because They have actually succeeded against these, and They have a proven record.

Isn't the correct play from the survivor is to just increase the chase time for the next chase then? You have a free health state and do gens much slower. Why wouldn't you take that free health state and help the survivor that is in chase making the next down take longer. This delays downs and makes gens go faster since there is less interruption. Best way to slow gens down is forcing survivors off gens constantly because they need to unhook.
You then have the issue of OTR not working with BT, and if you change that then survivors can body block with BT and have OTR in their back pocket.

Why suvs cry for otr basekit?
just take it with u and u have still 3 perls for ur free choice
killers also habe to pick at least one gen regression perk…
maybe try to look on ur 4 perkslots like a portfolio and u can choose the focus of ur portfolio
u are afraid of tunneling? Take oft and ds
u wanna rush gens? Take proof and deja vu
u wanr chases? Wi dows and exhausten perks
why suvs always cry for basekit perks instead of just picking them into obe of their 4 slots???
My personal opinion is that I am familiar with both Killer and Survivor, and from that standpoint, I don't think there is a need for a base kit.
However, from this official forum and from what I have personally seen in Europe, America, and Western culture, tunneling is incredibly difficult for survivors, and it seems to be a way for killers to hide their poor skills. It's like being told that it's difficult for me to go to the toilet 100 meters away to relieve myself, but that's what every survivors says anyway.
Therefore, I just suggested a compromise. To be honest, if you follow this idea, you'll probably need 120 seconds and he'll need a 40% debuff. Survivors cannot distribute the number of hooks due to skill issues, so they will have to rely on the killer, so I think it is a good incentive for the killer to leave the survivors alone, who are useless in completing the generator.

Not going to lie, I find the japanese community to have a much more positive attitude towards the game than other communities. The majority for the most part don't complain and whine when they get tunneled and acknowledge that they could have played better and lasted longer in chase.
Some twitch streamers from said community even have rules against flashlight clicking and t bagging the Killer in their community games. When viewer players do any of those, they immediately call out said person and ban them if required.
While I don't swf as much with japanese players these days, playing with them is always a positive experience
Thanks, I wanted to highlight that too. I'm not saying that everyone should get sweats about the game, I want All to fun the game itself and not deny the system of the game.
Putting aside the pros and cons of tunnels, DC and suicide for personal convenience are the "worst acts" for all players who fun DBD. Even if I am the only person in the world who keeps saying that, it must be true.
-
@Mr_K said:
How do you stop tunneling without making the survivor invulnerable? How do you pervent a survivor from abusing invulnerability?
I see.....
Adds OTR to Survivor's base kit and maintains it for 80 seconds regardless of actions. Instead, survivors with this effect activated will receive a 30% debuff on all actions.
During this time, it is better for the Sweaty Killer to leave the Survivor alone, so many Killers will remove them from their targets. If the survivor is still tunneled, it's just a traffic accident. The frequency will drop significantly.
This proposed adjustment is a win-win, buffing both Killers and Survivors.
-
Of course, even if I don't, selfish Survivor guys can ruin a match. Sometimes when I team up with a novice survivor, I can't win.
However, I sometimes meet many survivors who think the same way as me. Everyone performs to the best of their ability and escapes. Sometimes there are victims, but everyone takes turns taking charge. In that case, I'm more likely to survive. It is natural that if one person is sacrificed, 3/4 will survive.
Therefore, even soloQ can survive by 40%. That's fun enough.

It's very simple.
You lose MMR if you die and you gain MMR if you win.
If you lose MMR, you get more bad teammates who won't save you, causing you to drop more.
If you gain MMR, you get better teammates (theoretically) but Killers get much more intensely focused.
What difference does one or two losses make? By increasing the overall survival rate, the number of times we survive will increase. This is overwhelmingly higher than the number of deaths. In the end, it is more advantageous in terms of MMR. Everyone knows this, so we don't mourn just a fw deaths.
Dwight says so too. In order for me to be saved, I have to let everyone else live.

If you die you're "elo" goes down so this is not optimal gameplay like pulsar said this game is not a team game at its core. So like he said putting yourself in any harmful situation negates an opportunity to just escape with hatch and have a neutral elo fluctuation. In swf this is sometimes diffrent depending on the group but on solo q this game is every man for themselves.
In that match I die, but in the next match someone else dies and saves me. That way we both have a better chance of survival. It's a very simple logic, and if we really want to survive, there's no reason why we shouldn't do this to each other.

It happens to me almost 95% of my matches and I don't care because my point isn't to escape the trial its to have fun. I'm not complaining about tunneling and camping I think its fine. My point is it just shows you have little skill since its not needed to win. I haven't had my fun stolen in this game since I quit caring about escaping. My point is though that people find the path of least resistance because they sweat to much and try to min max everything which just kills the game. for them. You cant even see your elo or mmr so you will never truly know you are at high mmr as a survivor unless you play with sweaty swfs and go for escape streaks. Or if you play killer and camp and tunnel both imo very boring gameplay styles which lead to quick burn out and the reason most people come on these forums lol.
95% really?
If that's true, all of you aren't enjoying the game. Everyone just enjoys firing party crackers in other people's faces. It's childish.

Well I don't play to win so whoever's on my team is going to have a bad time anyways I just go to have fun chases and get saves or funny plays. I really could care less about winning in this game it makes it boring who wants to just sit on a gen. In solo que its 1v1v1v1v1 so might as well just make the best out of it and enjoy and just expect to lose its not like this game is call of duty or and fps that really shows skill.
How would you feel if your fun was ruined by a friend's suicide or DC? In that case, you should not complain to anyone. It's your doppelgänger who's stealing your fun.

You completely made the point of why the game gets stale not everyone wants to play comp and have to sweat their balls off every match.
Please read carefully. Selfish suicides and DCs are giving up winnable matches. It is extremely bad behavior to think that you have lost the match and complain that your opponent is at fault when in fact you have not lost.
It doesn't mean sweating. Please do not surrender without permission. You are causing trouble for your own allies. "This game is a loss. I'm going to die." "Why? Even though we're about to turn things around?"

It is usually not possible. Games these days usually either end up in a 4K or a 4 escape.
Getting a single person out is not a win. DBD is not a team game, at its core.
I have no control over my random teammates nor their actions. Considering that DBD actively punishes you for sacrificing yourself for your friends, I doubt many are jumping at the opportunity.
The difference in play styles between Asia and Europe and America may be the reason for the difference in perception. You probably don't have the mindset of increasing your own survival rate by sacrificing yourself if necessary and increasing the survival rate of all survivors. This itself is a matter of understanding the game.
It's unfortunate for both you and me.
-
While the Gideon map is a harsh environment for many killers, certain killer and perk concepts come alive.
Unless there is an offering, it's a game of luck for both survivors and killers. Let's overcome adversity and do our best.

If I play with my friends who are new, they get put up against experienced Killers who identify them and tunnel them out ASAP.
If I do not play with them, they get tunneled out by Killers near their own MMR.
I have experienced many times when I have been saved by the sacrifices of my allies, and on the other hand I have also help other. Are you saying that there is no such cooperation system?
-
@Pulsar said:

No, they won't. New Killers tunnel just as much and it's just as effective since they don't leave the hooked area.
Tunneling is entirely on the Killer. The Survivor cannot force the Killer to tunnel.
It is told entirely from the perspective of a novice survivor. If you say you don't, then by all means, take care of the novice survivors. He can be helped in any way he can by the cooperation of those around him.
-
If you really want to mention tunneling, I'll mention an interesting story I experienced the other day.
I had a chance to watch two Youtube videos on the same day. One is a live 1on1 tournament in Japan, and the other is a video of Japanese people's impressions of playing DBD on Western servers.
First of all, I would like to introduce how do Western players play DBD, unlike Japanese players?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE3G_4kKxoQ
Since you probably don't understand Japanese, I'll give you a little explanation. Compared to Asians, Westerners play what they think is fun and are more proactive about light rescue and treatment. On the other hand, T-bags and Light clicks are used as greetings, and suicides and amputations are overwhelmingly common.
The reason is that they do it because they don't like it when they can't do what they want to do, or when they are forced to go into a tunnel or camp. However, it is not limited to this, and many people commit suicide or commit DC simply because they are hanged for the first time. Many people run away from situations they don't like, not just tunnels. It's true that he has a fun playstyle, but I feel like he's selfish and doesn't consider the inconvenience to those around them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFj4yx3hd-I
2nd is the live archive of the Japanese tournament.
This is a competition where both Survivors and Killers compete in a chase to determine who is superior and who is inferior on equal terms. Map luck is involved, but it's fair anyway.
All players are skilled at both Survivor and Killer, and some are better at one or the other. The audience is mostly survivors, but they're also people who understand the game.
I'll leave direct proof to another tournament, but they are serious about the game, and they enjoy it. And not one, not one, complains about the tunnels and camps. Do you think it's a lie? But it's true. There may be exceptions, but if you chant hate, he will be reprimanded. Both the viewers and the players. Because they understands the game and sees the perspective of both the killer and the survivor.
Of course, I am aware that the differences between the West and Asia are due to differences in playing styles and cultures. However, there are some cultures where tunnels and camps are accepted as tactics. No one would ridicule killers who do that as bad killers. No one would ridicule him as the struggle of a bad killer. It is a ritual performed only among novice survivors.
The last thing I would like to mention is that many Japanese people, upon seeing Western games where they neglect generation completion in order to rescue Light, think, ``It's obvious that Survivors can't beat Killer in this way. Without base kits, they can't play."
This includes differences in interpretation, so I won't go into much detail. However, Japanese people do not give up on winning until the end, so they do not commit suicide and experience many situations where they need to recover through self-care botany. And since both tunnels and camps can be conquered, there's no need to give up because of that.
In the West, people give up in tunnels or camps and commit DC or suicide, so there are few chances to recover, and Self-Care Botany is unpopular and is interpreted as a perk for beginners. This is why the evaluation of self-care is 180 degrees different. This is a big discovery for me.
-
I don't know how it will work yet, but it's an interesting idea. However, in that case, it seems like the killer just needs to do one more thing: check the hook before carrying the survivor.
-
An inexperienced killer will lose sight of a survivor before tunneling in the first place. The tunnel is established not because the killer is complacent with cheap actions, but because of a failure on the part of the survivor.
I hate sophistry. If you all are considering Survivor to have beginners, ask for it from Killer as well.

To make it very short. No
Tunneling happens almost every game now. A dc maybe every 10 games.
If you want to defend that point show me your proofs
you need to read well. The tunneling thing is controversial, and at least Killer has a point, but DC is now getting hate from almost everyone. Please recognize that fact.
Anyway, we're talking about DC here. All I wanted to say is that while the tunneling act is buying so much hate, DC is buying even more hate, and this is proof that DC is not tolerated more than anything else. Please leave your hate towards tunnels in another topic.

Maybe not every P100 gets tunneled because of their prestige, but because they were the first to get hooked? Maybe they were easy to down? Maybe they BM'd and triggered the killer?
Maybe not every P100 gets dodged because oh their prestige, but because of the other players in the lobby? Because they brought the fourth toolbox. Maybe together with the other 3 P100s they looked like a sweaty SWF?
Maybe more people tunnel P100s because oh threads like this?
Who knows?
But yes, prestige and steam profiles should only be visible after the match. I expected steam profiles to be gone when this game released on consoles, but somehow they stayed.
If the Steam account is not visible, there is no way to check the ban history of the person in question. I hate it so much. I don't want to play with people who have been banned not only as killers but also as survivors. It should be my freedom.

It depends on how many hooks I got and if I feel I played well that match or not. If I get a 2k with 6 or 7 hooks, I'll usually consider the match a loss and be unsatisfied with the result. If I get a 2k with 8-10 hooks then I might consider it a draw or a loss depending on how the match went as a whole (most likely a draw).
I might think the opposite. Because you can't judge by hook times alone. If the hook times are distributed well by the skills of the survivors, even if it's 2k, it won't feel like a draw. In terms of the game, it's a draw and Hook Times wins, but mentally it's a loss.

I play on a P100 and have not been successfully hard tunneled in over 500 games (yes I track things like this). I do not know where the idea that P100s get specifically targeted comes from. If anything most killers will avoid me if they have a choice. The reason I want it hidden is because I get significantly more dodges when I play on my P100. The matchmaking is already terrible and I don't want it to be any worse.
Novice survivors cannot understand why they were tunneled. So they use prestige as a reason.
I definitely agree with you when I play a killer.

This is the dev's desire to remove the game aspect from dbd and turn it into a party item.

we had a game on micheal map the killer was deadslinger we where a squad of 3 me my perkless friend it was his 3rd game on the account and my other friend the deadslinger goes and proceed to tunnel the living hell of my prekless friend me and my other friend goes out of our way to body block even taking the downs dosent matter he would leave us on the ground not even hooking us still went to tunnel my perkless friend oviously he died the random died we bearly made it out as 2 so no ill dissagree
i dont like ppl killing themself on hook but i won't blame them because its a game problem not a player issues ill said it again remove the volatility from degen strats like tunneling ad 20 sec on gen its gonna be more fun in general
No perk required. All you need is knowledge of maps. In particular, even short loops that are considered weak on their own can become powerful through mutual effects. Many people don't know that.

Camps will absolutely be terminated by survivors once hook grabs are discontinued. Survivors who can't do it just don't have the knowledge.

I wouldn't go that far. At least a tunneled survivor still gets to do inputs on their controller. Fighting games with touch-of-death combos, the other player can only sit there and watch themselves lose, they don't even get to press buttons, may as well put the controller down.
However, in reality, digging a tunnel in DBD attracts far more hate than completing a combo in a fighting game. that's strange.

I think of tunneling like playing four player Smash. I'd rather go for the player with the most stocks, that way everyone gets to play for as long as possible. It's not the most accurate comparison but it's how I feel about it. Ideally everyone gets to play and contribute to the match for as long as possible.
For serious survivors, tunnels are a tactic, creating a 3-on-1 situation if effective, and guaranteeing escape for 3 Survivors if not. The person targeted is an important person who holds the key, and it is a very rewarding role. Yes, for serious players.
I know this is a game for casual players. However, I am disgusted by the way people who have no intention of winning get angry at killers when they lose due to their own fault, and the remarkable efforts of conservation groups to justify this.

Because its a crutch for M1 killers too, though I use 'crutch' lightly because there's nothing wrong with utilizing something to win if its in the game.
And to re-clarify, I'm specifically talking about BL1, the rest of the mechanic, while a band-aid, is fair enough to not be a problem, especially since its the only way for killers to combat strong loops/buildings.
I dislike the fact that killers get Bloodlust even on unsafe loops because the timer is so short for it, so I think BL1 should get removed entirely and the rest of the mechanic should stay as is, the biggest problem is that BL1 makes 50/50 loops 80/20. Most killers refuse to even play those pallets, which is reasonable since they wouldn't want to risk a stun and can take a few extra seconds to guarantee a hit instead. I just think the cost is too light for that gameplay and I'd like for it to be more punishing to ignore pallets/windows in unsafe loops.
I personally think bad killers have too many buffers to make up for their lack of skill at the moment, these buffers were necessary in the past as I stated earlier, but now its overkill and definitely contributing to most matches feeling miserable. BL1 is definitely one of these.
Survivors have a number of ways to reduce Bloodlust. Whether or not you can execute it is also included in the tactics during the chase. That is the real thrill of Chase, and it lies beyond "risk and reward."
-

Greenville Square is super killer-sided map on PTB. All pallets are super weak.
Same goes for all of new maps. Borgo turned to biggest dead zone. Coldwind maps are full with dead zones. Nostromo is full with unsafe - garbage pallets.
If that's new norm for maps, then yeah BL1 should be nerfed 100%. But i know it's survivor issue and probably will be ignored.
USCSS Nostromo and its neighbors are full of loops that can extend your chase time, so understand how to use them.

That sounds accurate. Heaven forbid that Survivors should be allowed to have a second chance when it's already near impossible to turn the game around when things are going badly for them. Killers, on the other hand, can turn the game around much more easily after a bad start. Heck, even NOED alone can do that.
It disrespects all the opportunities that came before the “second chance.” Whether or not the survivors realize this is the dividing line between whether they think they have an advantage or a disadvantage against the M1 killer.

Tunnels in DBD are equivalent to combos in fighting games, but are considered harmful. It's the same.
If we learn about the world and don't solve the problem only within DBD, we will soon realize that many people are saying kiddy things.

I played about four matches today. My first had the killer drop chase with me after about a minute of looping. He then grabbed a teammate off a gen. He then grabbed a second off a different gen. Then the first survivor got grabbed again off a dull totem.
The second match a teammate got hooked, then a second went down after trying to body block the hook. Then a third teammate fast vaulted into a locker and got grabbed. All three in the basement.
Playing survivor is just a mess sometimes.
Now that hook grabs have been removed, there is nothing to prevent hook trades. The reason they couldn't do that was probably because their skill level was severely lacking, regardless of swf.

That's why I'm saying the game should focus on hook count rather than kill count. I main killer, and I consider 8 hooks a win because I know that I didn't tunnel and I earned a lot of points. Having 8 to 12 hooks should be considered a win for the killer, and that change would simultaneously make the game better for survivors too.
If that's the case, Survivor's goal will still be to escape, and Killer's goal will be to complete 12 hooks before Survivor escapes. Survivors die when hooked and respawn in random locations, eliminating the concept of tunnels or camps. The chase will probably take less than 30 seconds and will not prevent the gen from completing. Horror leaves.

I’m not exaggerating when I say in every game I play there’s one 4% self unhook, it’s gotten so bad that I’ll wait till the entity take one person then go and actually pick the second person up to hook just so I don’t have to deal with the hassle that 4% brings
So yes I just want one good reason as to why it’s a necessity, thank you.
Killers who correctly understand probability problems do the same.

3. You know how many generator is about to finish. (if you pay attention to which direction the survivor is running, you can even tell approximately where generator that survivor working)
The fact that there are so few people who understand the importance of this shows that there are many novice survivors.
One survivor has stopped repairing the generator, so he is on alert because the killer has come, but he is not being chased by the killer.
I know he's there because a survivor went into a nearby building and immediately started repairing the generator, but he was chased by the killer, so I went to cover the generator.
After one of the survivors was hung on a hook, someone stopped fixing the generator and probably went to rescue him. But then he was chased by a killer and I had to go to the rescue.
Survivors now have so much information that they don't feel so alone even in SoloQ. The reason for the tragic ending is the skill issue of each survivor.

That would be super nice, but kinda pointless bc they would know and instantly just go to it and cleanse it, would be cool if after a while it explodes and the boon is destroyed and a dim totem becomes a hex.
It makes sense because the time it takes for a killer and the time it takes for a survivor are different.

If four survivors try to break free from the hook three times, the probability of success at least once is about 39%.
There is a reason why such comebacks occur more often in matches where the killer dominates.
I actually know of a game where all four survived until the gate was energized and three people escaped from the gate.
-
For now, as a common change to hex, I would like to see a change to a system where hex totems that have been Booned will trigger hex again if they are crushed.

2k is even game for both of sirvivor and killer. If there was no learning aspect to the match, I would probably be grumpy. Understand your opponent's skill. As long as I learn something, I'm satisfied.
-
There are people who are able to act on their best behavior when one sirvivor onhooked and others who are not. The reason is there why opinions are divided.

So basically for each are killers at fault. Crying that survivors actually did heal was OP, Boons were OP. Just hexes were never much of a deal at all. Old ruin just got powered through. So nothing really changed, just that killers got buffed, survivors got nerfed and killer strategies are worse than ever, cause devs are ignorant on that matter for whatever reason.
no. Deciding whether to prioritize care self or repair gen is a matter of “risk and reward.”
If you make a wrong decision, the killer will hit you and knock you down, or in the opposite pattern your repairs will be ruined before you can completing gen.
Survivors who make the right decision will defer their own recovery and complete Gen when possible. As the theory matures and everyone shares it, everyone's actions and matches progress faster. This is happening now.

Or you can leave your teammates to die after the gens are done, by them
In other words: When they help you.
It means that we can cooperate even if we are selfish. Preventing your weapon from being lost is not teamwork. But it increases the overall survival rate of survivors.
Many survivors don't understand the game balance that this is completely possible and realistic. Therefore, They tries to commit suicide at the first hook progression.
I want to tell them. ``If your opponent takes a pawn, it's not checkmate.''
