Great post, the hand holding for Survivors is getting ridiculous again. I'm half expecting basekit Windows of Opportunity and Bond next so then everyone can stack 2nd chance perks while grim embrace gets nerfed to 20 seconds lol
-
Yeah matchmaking just doesn't work very well or there aren't enough more novice killers. A lot of killer players at this point are veteran. My experience is similar. I only play survivor as solo queue for trophies and challenges, mediocre at looping and rarely escape, and I still get P100 strong Blights, Nurses, Billies etc

I agree, this is a real problem and IMHO a form of griefing that BHVR has gotta do something about. I totally gave up learning Knight, Oni, AND Xenomorph because of this, and none of those are all that weak. It just feels really, really bad to try your best, obviously trying to learn not even to win, and then end up getting slapped around and having your loss rubbed in your face by people who are more interested in humiliating you than playing the game because they think "Killers deserve it for being OP". But there's a whole half of the roster that is balanced to not OP. We call them "weak Killers".
That's the only real issue with Killer as a whole left to resolve IMHO - how do we solve Sore Winner Survivors who run in, slam all the gens in five seconds while you're learning a Killer, harass you as a baby on that Killer all round, and then teabag at the exit gate like they earned something trying to force you to hit them out? Why did we all decide it's the Killer's job to force Survivors out but Survivors don't have to endure the similar embarrassment of being humped on the ground for four minutes because they lost? Because Killers are stronger? That doesn't track, being humiliated and griefed still hurts regardless.
Why do Survivors get to gracefully concede if they lost, but not Killers? It really kills the mood.Killers should have the option to abandon when they realize they're up against something they're outmatched against or a bully squad and don't want to feel bullied. During chaos shuffle I had multiple games against teams hard splitting on gens and waiting almost the entire unhook time to rescue to pound gens. I'd rather just abandon and queue up for an appropriately matched lobby than have to hard tunnel just to hope for a draw
-
I bet survivors said they didn't like it in on Twitter so it's low key not going through. Whatever happened to that spawn change too where the survivors were going to stop spawning all separated on top of a gen?
-
The blatant cheaters are one thing but the amount of subtle cheaters seems crazy. I don't even bother trying to report them because of the time investment and I doubt the support staff is actually going in game to recreate these scenarios to prove yes that survivor speed boosted just out of line of sight
-
Survivors will be against it because they say it will give an advantage even though the visual heartbeat for the terror radius clearly gives a competitive advantage and many non impaired players use it
-

They need help against specific killers like Legion, IDK what it is but they just run around do p.much nothing all match against them. Saw one vault the same window over and over and over, it was wierd.
I remember when they use to get stuck trying to get out of tier 3 madness against Doctor. They would just sit there screaming over and over again. I wonder if they fixed that
-
Literally just saw a blatant cheater on a stream yesterday moving around at 2000% speed and insta healing slugs that the Streamer couldn't hook
-
I hate Greenville, I consider it highly survivor sided. It can spawn some nasty setups. Just recently played on it where shack, a jungle gym, a double pallet spawn, and another jungle gym were all chainable. Plus with the 500 pallets everywhere if you play against a team that loves to deny hook pickups it's straight misery so you can only slug
-
Teleporting hooks would be a bad idea because it would ruin some macro strategy for the killer. Like if there's a gen that's almost done at the same time I get a down, I'm hooking the survivor right next to it, kicking it (hopefully with pop) and I'm proxy camping to make sure I get fat regression recouping some of the time disadvantage I'm at
-
The killer should be able to abandon if they get a map that's bad for their killer, 3+ gens done at 1 hook, or exit gates open and it counts as a draw
-
Man I had this happen to me back in like 2019. I used to DC to derank. I went on vacation for two weeks, came home and fired up DbD, banned for a week for doing that
-
Video is hilarious. He's convinced me
-
Nah he's fine as long as 4 man SWF on comms stacking perks exists
-
Thanks for this!! I'm gonna check my settings

So we are not supposed to shake the stale meta we've had for months by reworking perks or gameplay mechanics? We've had some really nice perks to reward killers for not tunneling. It's part of the game now? Yeh imagine people grinding other games without new content and gameplay being the same. Let me go play some world of warcraft and farm 1 dungeon for the rest of my life.
What really nice perks reward killers for not tunneling?
-
I think the killer should be able to abandon in this situation or like when 3 gens are done at 1 hook
-
@Neaxolotl said:
Actually, those killers will always match against highest possible team game can offer, just play less sweaty and you'll actually match with some fun killer
Speaking from my experience
Not true. I play solo queue exclusively on survivor and escape maybe 20% of the time. I still routinely get p100 Nurses and Blights and Spirits
-
No option to put that it's unfun playing against sweaty meta 4 man
-
@Royval said:
I literally have to be at that point on killer. I went for Skull Merchant adept a few days ago and lost 14 games in a row with the best outcome being a draw on Autohaven. No weak links on any team, coordinated saves, perfect pallet stuns and hiding it was miserable.
No way, I'm going to go ahead and invalidate your entire experience and tell you that it's extremely rare to run into a 4 man SWF like you'll almost never play against them so it's something they don't even need to bother balancing for
-
My biggest issues with it is getting backfilled and loaded into an obvious 4 man sweat lobby that other people dodged
Maybe related to point 1 or they factor in hours or killer mmr but I play exclusively solo queue in survivor with probably a 20% escape rate and I get matched against p100 blights and nurses and spirits that 4k at 5 gens frequently. That should never happen in a functioning MMR system
-
Working for me on PS5. Got a lobby of survivors after a few minutes queue
-
If these perks release overtuned I think it's gonna take them at least six months to a year to look at them

Is anyone actually saying that about this perk? I feel like I've only seen people sarcastically invoking that phrase.
Go after the bodyblocker is the counter
-
Just don't tunnel! Boom, perk countered. Go apply pressure
-
Everything about design at BHVR seems random lol
Alright guys, let's change Eyrie of Crows, people have been asking for it
I know! Let's add a double pallet loop!
That's a great idea, random employee #69!
-
That's not real rasslin'!
-
The absolute worst one is the Unknown one where you build up burst regression when a survivor misses a skill check. I don't think I've ever gotten 1 token on it. The Unknown is a being beyond understanding and so is this ass perk
-
Playing against sweaty SWF isn't fun, nerf that please. Need to nerf everything that's unfun to face

kinda like when Reassurance was nerfed from PTB to live because killers complained "wahh I actually have to chase someone else waahhh I want to camp hooks forever waaahhhh gotta keep my pResSuRe waaahhhh"
And that's just one of many examples over the years
Classic killers!
Reassurance was nerfed due to potential griefing. It also hasn't been adjusted since the hook timers were changed to 70 seconds. It's pretty overpowered in the hands of a team

Ok, I undertand the concern.
But, have you considered... NOED?
Yeah, NOED rewards killers for playing badly and gives them a second chance they don't deserve, what a badly designed perk. Survivors don't get any second chance perks that reward them or handhold them for playing badly!
-
You don't want to get Freddied out there in the fog
-
The Freddying sounds like a bad M Night Shymalan film lol

nah it's worse with survivor perks since if they aren't nerfed in ptb they'll stay unchanged for months or years before being looked at unlike a killer who'll get nerfed pretty quickly
This
-
Why are we even talking about nerfing Nurse while 3 and 4 man SWF continues to break the balance the game. They're even getting a new OP bodyblocker perk to even further dunk on killers
-
Can I use Windows of Noobertunity to hold W and pre drop vs Ghoul now?
-
How about 2nd chance perk stacking? Can't have your whole build be DS UB OTR Adrenaline
-
@Nomade said:
One blatantly overpowered perk that absolutely wont be abused in SWFs at all and guts any killer that does non damaging hits.
Another perk that punishes the killer for not tunneling.
What could go wrong?JuSt DoNt TuNnEl ThErE YoU CoUnTeReD ThE PeRk
-
SWF is basically baby mode. It honestly blows my mind that 3 or 4 man SWF ever loses to anyone that isn't a comp Blight or Nurse
-
That pick rate for Ghoul seems low tbh. Almost every Blood Moon survivor game I've started has been against him. The other day I played 4 blood moon trials and every single one was against Ghoul so I just quit and played RE4 instead
-
I remember when the devs buffed Deja Vu and said they were going to nerf it after the anti 3 gen mechanic was introduced. Nope, still hasn't been nerfed. I also remember when the devs said they nerfed healing and Medkits to make injuries more impactful. Then they giga buffed Resurgence and introduced the new survivor's perks so you can basically heal in 1 second. I don't get it at all
-
This perk procing doesn't even exhaust other survivors. You can pair it with Lithe or Balanced and just be across the entire map thanks to one bodyblock
-
@joeyspeehole said:
Just target the person who took the protection hit. I guess it's meant to help with tunneling, but it feels like a pretty weak attempt to address tunneling.
Wow there's 4 gens done and I don't have a kill yet. I need to get someone out of the game immediately to have a chance not to lose. I'm chasing someone on death hook oh but here comes comp Ace who hasn't been hooked who put on the Autohaven key to come running in and bodyblock so my only hope of winning can run off into Narnia. How does chasing the bodyblocker help me win here? Keep in mind the killer is trying to win and isn't here to play fun master for the survivors
-
It's not. I don't believe anyone was banned for exploiting the locker glitch that basically made the survivor invincible
-
The design of newer hexes only lighting up after certain conditions are met is the devs basically admitting they know totem spawns and hexes being cleansed immediately are a problem

There's a pretty large disconnect historically between the devs and players when it comes to survivor. Many of the pain points on solo survivor are seen as features by the devs.
There's a glaring problem right now. There is a direct translation between improving your skills on killer and winning more. That doesn't really exist when it comes to solo survivor.
Your outcomes on survivor are still completely determined by matchmaking more often than not. Your skill does not matter even at 5k hours. If you get matched with a completely dysfunctional teammate or two, you lose, and there's nothing you could have done to change that outcome. In other games, a good player can carry. Not the case in DbD. The killer doesn't have to engage with a good player if they don't want to. They can tunnel out a weak link and guarantee a win. Completely turns me off from the game most days.
How could you even fix that fact? Killer players that are trying to get better or complaining about Gen speeds/SWF are advised to avoid good loopers and go after weak links
-

I don't think so. A near-instant queue being the standard doesn't make a 1-minute queues "forever," and that's pretty much what I've been getting as killer. Haven't felt long queues since like the first week of the new killer's release.
Then again, it could be my region giving me great queue times.
I think it could be region. I watched Choy streaming last night (he's Germany) and he was playing Left 4 Dead for 10 minutes while waiting for a killer game. It was a long time. The games were shorter than the queues like a roller coaster
-
Yes, it's just a perfect storm of being completely unfun on both sides for me. Either wait forever in killer queue to get gen rushed to death or play solo queue survivor and play against a turbo tunneling full hex Ghoul almost every single game. It's unplayable for me
-
When people can't use gen regression perks in the event to their fullest, usually the next in line are hex builds. These builds on Ghoul are ridiculously oppressive with his iri add on that makes survivors scream. Something like Blood Favor/Crowd Control/Thrill of the Hunt/Undying is just unwinnable for solo queue against Ghoul
-
Yep happened last year against a team of comp players pub stomping. They sent me to an Autohaven map and they got really good RNG where it was just pallet into pallet into pallet. I couldn't get anybody down and the gens went by at a blistering pace, the end
