  • Stop making these threads already. No one cares.

  • Well that's where his addons come in.

  • Yes. I miss when this game wasn't made for cosmetics. It was just the game, and a few cosmetic bundles for $3. Even then, all of the cosmetics stayed in tone with the game/weren't anything too crazy. Now the games got cosmetics for $10 a piece, with ridiculous immersion breaking outfits. It's the same problem with TF2. The hats are great and fun, but it really diminishes the amazing original visual design of the game. Not to mention you can put stupid funko pops and your survivors belt and killer hooks now. So yeah now it's like any other multiplayer game. Sad, because DBD used to stand out from the crowd because it wasn't like the others.

  • The weirdest part about it, is sooometimes it doesn't blow. Sometimes you hear that sound the moment you leave, and it's no problem. I still don't understand how the hell the game even handles this. Its clearly busted. Disappointing it's rarely even been acknowledged by devs for this long. Or if they have, I never heard.

  • Eh idk about Ranked and Casual. The games not a competitive E-sport. I don't know if it's possible, but is there not some kind of way to match players with each other based on their locations, total playtime AND rank? All you ever hear about on the forums these days is new players screaming over matchmaking against red ranks, or getting BM'ed from red ranks. So it's pretty evident it needs to get fixed, yeah.

  • What do you mean at least her face looks good. Her face is off. I dunno what they did exactly, but she looks cockeyed, and all unsymmetrical. Also almost completely flat faced. I get she's Asian, but I think they went a bit overboard.

Spirit is an Original Killer and will most likely be featured if we continue down the road.. we have a Very interesting storyline with LEGION we are talking over.. 😏

That's awesome. The Darkness Among Us chapter always felt like really good potential for a horror flick to me. Like, I'd love to see a movie with just Jeff and Legion, and their lives before The Entity takes them, leading and building up to when they meet. The writing and visual design of Jeff and Legion are awesome and work hand in hand together so well. A kind of older wiser calm metalhead who has been through the ropes in life, clashing with a dangerous group of juvenile, almost Clockwork Orange, metalhead teenagers. Radically different, two sides of the same coin.

Also, I don't know if it's intentional or not, but the quality of that clip on YT makes the camera really feel vintage. And it's done REALLY well. Most of the time when people try to recreate an older film quality, it still looks very HD because all the downgrade in quality is done with editing tools, so it doesn't really FEEL vintage. But that clip really does feel like it could've been shot somewhere from early 70's to early 90's. Dunno what you guys did. The image of Meg and Nea together on the IMDB page nails EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Did a damn good job on that.

The best thing was actually at 0:21 because that sound is totally creepy. The devs said it was a bug when suddenly the sound was missing, then they decided to keep it like that most likely because so he can sneak much better on the survivors.

Absolutely. I LOVED that sound. It adds so much soul. Everyone's mentioned that it's left out because it was like a small buff for Myers stalk, but honestly I still really want this to come back, even if its a small nerf. It's that cool, just like the movie. @Peanits come on guys, you know you want to. Maybe give us an option to keep it or leave it?

  • Yea wow, I remember that. I guess I've just had stockholm syndrome and forgot how janky it is.

  • Pinhead. First Hellraiser is my favorite horror movie, and he has plenty of potential for a really awesome power. BHVR, specifically Cote, have been pretty vocal on wanting Pinhead too, so it's only a matter of time I think. It's been so long since Hellraiser has gotten some good treatment, it deserves it.

  • No. It does nothing but ruin the immersion and atmosphere. The fact that there's little communication between survivors, is what makes the game compellingly chaotic at times. And it makes the times where solo survivors just click and understand each other that much more thrilling. If they were going to expand upon communication, maybe just add a few more survivor emotes besides pointing and "come here".

But add in voice chat and you're gonna get the dumb crap you see in F13.

  • I love Chopping Mall, but for some reason I thought this was gonna be about Deadrising lol

  • I really loved how Spirit sounded on PTB. Me and my friends didn't know it was bugged, so she actually creeped us out. Either creepy wind and glass crunching ambiance, ghostly moaning, or silence. It was compellingly ghostly. Come release, she's the silliest, most annoying killer to listen to. Really wasted potential. It sounds dumb, but I wish there was some kind of cosmetic option to change her voice. You like the whiny wahhs? Equip it. You don't? Keep the ghostly moaning/wind/silence only.

  • I think it'd be nice if Devotion permanently increased the amount of BP or shards you gain, by a very very small amount. So with 1 or 2 Devotion, you might not notice it, but eventually when you hit Devotion 8 or something it's definitely going to make an impact. Just something to reward players for playing so much of the game. And also, it just feels crap to hit devotion, and start earning less shards than you used to for a while. Something to alleviate that feeling of just going backwards in progress.

  • Hey, not a bad job honestly. Way better than I was expecting coming in. I'm interested! If I can give some feedback, I'd say, DBD survivors usually have a lot of dirt on them, whether its their clothes or arms. You can kinda see what I mean when you compare the actors for Adam and Nea. Looks great, they just seem very clean and pristine.

  • I guess I'm alright with cells only cosmetics, as long as like 40% of all cosmetics don't consist of cells only. I just hate the prices. $10 for one cosmetic set for a character, is stupid. And the worst part is people support it, so it's never going to change. I get the devs have to get their money, but to me $10 is still a lot. And around 30% of all cosmetics in total, more for some characters than others, are $10.

  • Honestly, I'm more mad about his physique. The face, could be a lil better too, but Myers, isn't a quarter backer like people mistake him to be in the later movies. He's actually kinda thin. They clearly got that when they made the cinematic for the DLC. But in-game, he's comically built, and has giant clown hands even.

  • Something like Frau Perchta for hag, like a witch-like hag monster. Reindeer skull and makeshift winter hunting clothes for Huntress. Not really a fan of skins when it's something you wouldn't actually likely see a character wearing it. Like a grinch cosmetic for Legion or DS or Wraith, or a candy cane weapon. Yeah its funny, but it almost feels lazy. It's cool to see a character wear something Christmas related, that makes sense as well/is still horror themed. Like they could actually be caught wearing it.

  • Klaus Schulze - Mirage

  • That's great to hear about the positive impact the community can give sometimes, for once. I'm glad it's been beneficial. Best of luck in your future of writing, bro.

  • Variants of maps are great imo, I prefer when a map feels different in layout each time, like what they did to Badham. What I can't stand, is maps like Clowns, and Plagues, which feel lazy. It just re-uses a different pre-existing realm like crotus penn and red forest, and only adds a few neat key locations. It's such a missed opportunity for a completely new environment. I get these things take time, but I'd really rather BHVR just delay content and not mind the roadmap, in order to make sure each DLC has a level of care like this every time.

  • I miss when video games were something I could go to so I can escape reality. There's no room for an apolitical stance in anything I enjoy anymore.

  • I dunno if there's a correlation or something, but all of my friends who are super into the LGBTQ scene are obsessed with saying yall. None of them are from the south either, so I'm not sure if it's a coincidence. Maybe just it caught on and a lot of people find it funny.

  • The game is not a competitive balanced make or break Esport. Details are important, but these are nowhere near the games biggest problems.

  • haha upvote, you my good sir have won the interwebz

  • Feels good to close chat and not care.

  • Clown pre PTB. Not because he's complex, but because of how bad he is.

  • I get it's distressing but, why not just leave. If someone's saying something I don't like, I don't even leave, I just close chat and ignore them. I'm not trying to defend this guy or something, but I just don't want DBD and BHVR to follow a path like Overwatch where Blizzards audience is just too dumb to filter out people online for themselves, so now you have stupid stuff like a GBP system. Don't let a company intervene in social interactions, leave it to the player. Just give us the option to block/mute people, and then problem solved.

  • I don't remember what exact update it was, but I just remember one day they sped up all actions for killers. If I remember correctly it was a bit after Freddy got released? Probably wrong. But kicking gens, vaulting, breaking pallets, picking up survivors, hooking, everything just felt SO much quicker, and when I wen't back to look at my old gameplay footage, I was thinking "How the ######### did I play with that? Let alone, not really notice it.". It's like you were playing in extreme slow motion.

  • blog_icp.jpg

Not before we get the true legendary skin we need, Violent J.

  • Leatherface isn't bad, he's just so BORING. Theres 0 depth to his kit or addons. He's one of the most grounded in reality killers though, so I honestly don't know how they'd change him without going off track from the film. It's like if they took a lot of creative liberty to change and make Pyramid Head work in DBD, then Leatherface is the exact opposite. Like they decided to stay faithful 100%, even if he doesn't play well. It almost perfectly reflects him in the first film. He essentially instadowns a survivor, camps them, and waits till people are drawn into his home (basement).

  • As long as it's not wasted potential, or something unfitting and dumb. And really, as long as it's not more than $10. That's my biggest hope for these Legendary skins, that they don't ask for a stupid price. $10 is already a lot.

  • Dwight, Claudette, Laurie, Ace, Bill, Feng, Tapp, Jeff, Jane, Ash, and soon Cheryl. Also Myers, Leatherface, and Billy. I don't know why I don't like prestiging my killers, I usually leave em at 50.

@tixerp I dont like an action that cause manything happens (such as throwing a bottle cause survivor screaming & gen regress, beside that will make his power a build in kicking gen). I prefer an action does a single job, but Killers will have many of them, survivors have to look at killer to know what his next move.

@Johnny_XMan since your suggestion is to buff his tonic bottle, which is

    • Throw bottle: survivors scream + get speed buff when moving inside the smoke.

I rather to split it into difference actions

    • Sniff bottle: buff him
    • Throw bottle: make survivors scream

It will make a Killer harder to play, but he has various action to plan up his own strategy

I'm not really sure what you mean by "more action he gets".

All my ideas are just giving him 4 more action that he can do with his power, while not buffing tonic effect

I do like your balloon idea, but what about if they are located behind a wall?

If survivor is behind a super high wall, then killer will not able to see his balloon. May be make pop sound noti if survivor untight his balloon

Or maybe just have the balloon rise into the air. Cool detail, kinda like crows flying off in a way. Also I agree, I don't like when actions start to get messy/not have a sole purpose. I think gen regression for tonics could still fit, but maybe not paired with your suggested clown rework. Yours is already pretty in-depth, so it might start to feel cluttered. But if clown as of PTB rn, was changed so "His bottles slow down survivors, and regresses gens." it could still feel concise. Although I wonder if just those 2 things would be enough to fix him.

  • That sounds beta as #########.

Exactly he's basically a walking piece of symbolism he can't die because he doesn't really exist to others in that way.

He exists as a part of James's mind like an evil imaginary friend he couldn't just go punch oni.

Yeah, and I get what he means is theoretically if Oni DID start a fight with him somehow, how would that work. And it's kinda hard to think about, considering he's not "real", isn't it lol. I just imagine him getting bodied, I guess. Throw Oni into any Silent Hill game theoretically and he would just obliterate everything. The weird thing is, DBD Pyramid Head is a whole 'nother question since he's considerably taller, and faster, and more buff, and has new moves. And he's technically real to everyone within that universe... So then I think he could beat like 70-80% of all DBD killers. SH2 PH though... Yeah he's gotta hit the gym. And maybe manifest into reality, somehow.

  • @C3Tooth said:

I proposed my ideas on Clown days ago. Its not about buffing him, its about more action he gets:

    • Roll bottle: instead of throwing, he roll them on floor, easily stopped by obstacle, but it has longer range
    • Clap bottle: if he has 2 or more bottles, he can clap to make a big tonic smoke around him, consuming 2 bottles
    • Sniff bottle: he can sniff a bottle to get temporary buff (on something) for a duration (this buff is harder to use than your movement buff in tonic smoke, since you lost a bottle for it)
    • Balloon: i may change your Last Laugh into an interact action that he able to tight a balloon to a survivor on dying state, make them easier to spot from distance, hit them will lose balloon, or having another survivor to untight it for a duration. He has 4 balloons.

This is actually a suuuper cool idea. I haven't heard of a suggestion like this before. People always try to buff killers by giving them new special mini powers or little meters and stuff, but I really prefer something like this instead, which just makes the most out of one sole power. Just give him a bottle, and let him be very creative with how he uses it. And the balloon idea is pretty cool too. Like an almost built in deerstalker. It doesn't have to do something drastic like apply exhaustion onto survivors healing within a radius. Just a visual model, for information.

My old one small suggestion to buff him a bit, was make his gas regress gens, almost like a kick. That way it'd be easier to control the map, and you have options of saving bottles for survivors, or gens, etc.

Uh interesting but say if he fought like the Oni for example who would come out on top, thats what I'm trying to know

Well you don't really see anything attempt to fight Pyramid Head besides yourself. And while it might be video game logic, you can just pop a couple pistol shots and shotgun shells into him and eventually he'll either leave or kill himself. He's made out to seem like a powerful monster, but there's not much to prove that. PH only slays in SH2 because everything he comes across is a walking pair of legs, a bagged up body, or just a guy with a gun. Nothing inherently powerful, so the bar is set low, and out of all the enemies, he takes the cake for strongest. (Besides obvious symbolic imagery but I'm assuming you just want a straightforward power level question.)

Based on how ridiculously slow and thin he actually is too, I'm gonna say almost any killer in DBD could probably wipe the floor with him. Definitely Oni. Not even a question. I guess the point is Silent Hill isn't a place of demonstrating brute force like most slasher villains show. Even something big and spooky like Pyramid Head, has a more psychological connotation to it rather than just being a beast.

  • Legion, Clown, and Leatherface. I would say Plague, but I wasn't exactly excited when I saw her reveal.

Legion is a very odd case because I was almost certain they were going to be BHVR's attempt at a killer disguised as survivor chapter idea finally. Not that I'm one of the people who was dying for this idea, but I thought it was interesting, and wanted to see BHVR's take. The teaser shows Frank running and hiding with David, only to suddenly trick him. It was multiple killers at once, that looked like survivors actually. I thought it might've even had something to do with a multiple personality disorder based killer, based on the first image of them. Even the name "Darkness Among Us" sounds so blatant. Something tells me they had an idea for it, but it needed more time, and they couldn't delay it, so we have the half baked killer today. I'd really like to talk to a dev someday to see if any part of my little conspiracy theory is partially true.

I think, it's because game mechanics allows that. If killer is toxic and wants to make the match as bad as possible, he can do that. He can camp, tunnel, slug and wait till everyone dies on the ground. If you go into the match, and If killer camps you on your first hook you are going to derank. Thats ridiculous. There is nothing you can do in that situation.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1329200#Comment_1329200

Yea, but this thing is getting more and more common. And if you DC, you just giving them what they want.

I don't think what they want is for you to DC. They want a reaction/to waste your time. Who even cares about "giving them what they want" anyway. It's a name on a monitor that you're going to forget in about 2 minutes. It becoming more and more common on the otherhand, yeah its unfortunate. But there's not a certain way to avoid this. All you can really do is ignore it and press on.

  • When a game is going that badly you could just DC whenever you want, yknow. Obviously, don't let it become habit, but no one's forcing you to play garbage matches at gunpoint.

  • I was watching Vinesauce, and was in a stream a long time ago back during the beta of the game. And just seeing the game, it captivated me. I loved horror, and the almost slasher flick tones inspiration it was built from. I would keep my ear on the game periodically, since it looked pretty shoddy still, and I didn't have a good PC at the time. Eventually when I did get a stable PC, 2 friends of mine recommended we should play, and it hit me like "OH YEAH, I can play that game now." I remember it was right before Leatherface got released too. And Texas Chainsaw being one of my favorite horror films, there was almost no better time to start. (Except I wish Bubba got some better treatment.)

  • I play killer and survivor 50/50 but when I play survivor I usually play with 2 or maybe 3 other friends.

    1. Both me and my friends hover around rank 3-8. Maybe 2 or 1 if we put in some effort, but we usually just dick around.
    2. Me personally, I have different builds on all my characters so I can't define, but it's always some experiment. Like Resilience, No Mither, Spine Chill, and Leader. Use SB and BT at least, if I'm out of ideas though.
    3. We usually all escape. It's just a kind of fun goal to leave no man behind no matter how messy it is. I'd say 8/10 matches we all escape or 1-2 are left behind. 2/10 we all die.
    4. Personally, Oni, Spirit, maybe Billy or Nurse but I haven't seen one in years.
    5. Demogorgon, Huntress, maybe Leatherface. Not that they're bad, we just rarely find good ones.
    6. It's either always a rank 1 that puts on a good match, or rank 6-12 for some reason. Usually 6-12's.
    7. I think people mistake playing ballsy as being toxic. I say I play ballsy, I like to intercept the killer whenever a good opportunity shows, and make a close save by the skin of my teeth. I don't teabag/flashlight spam/point, which is what I think most people attribute to being toxic, but I've done it a few times just for fun before. I almost never shittalk someone postgame chat or comment on their steam profile though. I don't even have in-game chat open usually. There's a fine line between fun mean spirited teasing in the name of the game and just being an actual ass.
    8. Either killers don't know how to end chase quicker, or they're pretty bad at managing map control/stopping gens.
    9. Being TOO cocky. A lot of times I could've gotten a lot more people out including myself if I just took things slower, but it's alright in the end.
  • Hellraiser of course. If we're talking unlikely though... I'd love a Manhunt chapter or paragraph with James Earl Cash as a survivor, and possibly Piggsy as the killer, with the map being Starkweather's Estate. Or a Deadrising paragraph with a Willamette Mall map, and Frank West as a survivor. Maybe Fatal Frame... RE is obvious too. Lot of ideas.

  • Look away... From the computer?

  • This reads like LARPing, but I'll bite. Killers tough man. I'd say just wait for MMR update.

  • Tunneling is mostly player dependent. Even if survivors have DS, some killers will still tunnel. People playing PH, a killer that seemingly discourages and is hurt by tunneling, is still being used to tunnel in vain by some people. Can't change people. Sucks.

You don't have to buy any cosmetics or anything in the pseudo-battlepass. I don't see the problem.

Like I said, it's really not as bad as other games in some areas. I just give it a lot of ######### sometimes, because it's still so off putting to me, that DBD of all games has a battlepass. It just really doesn't need it and it feels so oddly forced, but at least it's optional/not pulling teeth. It's not really the point of my post, just glazed over it. Before anyone says cosmetics are entirely optional too so there's no need to complain; Technically yes, but you'd be lying if you said cosmetics weren't inevitably a goal to look forward to later in DBD play loop.
