I'm not going to camp or tunnel someone just for running a flashlight. But if someone switches to one with five seconds left before the match starts specifically so I can't counter it with a perk (whether or not I even wanted to), it tells me they're trying to pull one over on me, and manners go out the window for the duration of that game.
(I will tunnel someone if all four of them are running flashlights and meta perks trying to mess up every save, but that's more for tactical reasons than me being mad about it.)
You have no idea why they switched to a flashlight. For the sake of argument though, let's say they did it so you couldn't try to counter it. So what? They have no idea what they are facing. Why should they freely advertise to you what they're doing?
-
What? It's a good perk, but not even close to OP.

Who's talking about Killer players? I'm saying Killers themselves can't win without camping and tunneling. Nurse and Blight might be the only exceptions
Whereas I think the weakness of alot of killers is massively overstated.

Not really. Most Killers straight up lose when playing "fairly"
Most players aren't that skilled. So yes, alot of them would lose without those things because they never developed beyond that. Of course that can easily go for survivors who can't do well without DH and old DS.

Well if don't take this game seriously, you get sh*t on from the opposing side most of the time.
Luckily I managed to dump my MMR down and avoid killing most survivors intentionally (can't do anything against people abandoned on hook or suiciding on their first) and I am spared of most BM while being a friendly crash test dummy killer player.
I made it my goal to make it easier or give fresh breath of air for low skilled survivor but still will see bm for that.
There's a difference between playing to win and playing like the world depends on the outcome. People take losing too seriously, which in turn leads to them stressing over a game. I used to get worked up playing F13. I felt like I failed as killer if I let more than one person escape. I got alot happier when I stopped worrying about it.

The average kill rate stats are useless. They take everything into account, from little Timmy who just got the game, to Hex: Virginity who played the game since beta non-stop and has over 12000 hours. Most players are around Timmy, somewhat higher, and people don't know how to counter tunneling and camping over there. We don't need the game to cater to the people who don't know how to play the game.
Camping and tunneling could get nerfed if Killers didn't need them, but the devs are never going to do that
If they consistently need those things that's an issue with their skill.
-
Because people take this game too seriously.

It's been too long since the last Sluzzy post.

Further nerfing? You're acting as if healing has gotten tones of nerfs down the line, its only gotten 1 nerf and that was increasing it from 12 to 16 seconds.
What I would do is increase the amount of charges for each consecutive heal, first heal is your standard 16 charges, second is 18 charges, third is 20 and it caps at that. You still heal at 1c/s.
This way you not only nerf healing but med kits as well which have been one of the most dominant items for a long time.
You see med kits because the other items are junk. Keys are useless without addons, and even with them they're still meh. Toolboxes got gutted. Rainbow maps are okay. Flashlights are fine, but can easily be a benefit to the killer. The only actually good item left are medkits.

I never dodge (unless my ping spikes, but I don't really consider that dodging), but when I get the four-man clone army, I always brace a little for accusations of tunnelling in the endgame.
It's happened before, and apparently saying "i literally could not tell which one of you just got unhooked" isn't a good enough defence...
Yeah, even when it's just two with the same cosmetics it sucks trying to keep them straight.

I feel it's actually pretty balanced personally. There's a couple god pallets, a few good pallets, and alot of pretty mind game able pallets. It's also a fairly small map.

I'm saying that determining skill based off of kills/escapes is illogical
And I'm saying it's completely logical, and I laid out the steps demonstrating that logic.
You can say it's illogical all you like, but as yet you've literally not given an actual logical argument/reason why it doesn't work.
If you're so sure of your position, then please answer my question directly instead of flirting around the issue.
Trying to determine skill with a single metric is a horrible system. How you can't see that is beyond me.

Honestly, the whole ''solo queue is a nightmare'' is out of proportion. Ever since SBMM, you have decent teammates and with COH/DH and the other second chance perks you have, it's a breeze.
It's very rare that I legitimately find myself struggling in solo queue, and this image of ''poor us solo queue :( '' is nonsense.
I could be wrong, it has happened before, but it's just possible that your experience isn't universal. I know it seems radical, but I really think it might be true.

Lol, I do actually only use it for the bp though. If you actually got decent points for completing a gen I'd never use it.

It's not unfair. It certainly can't be called healthy though.
-
Two downs that early is massive pressure. If you play in a competent manner they'll be on the defensive the rest of the match.

@AngyKiller said:
Yes, let's remove the only way for Survivors to fail a skillcheck since 99% of them never miss skillchecks when on a gen, and the only way for a Killer to get regression outside of his 50000000 year kick animation that gets reversed in a 0.0060 second gentap.
Never mind that such a change would also remove the explosion from the Killer chasing Survivors off gens, too. May as well just make it so the only regression is the 3 year long kicking animation, while Survivors can gen-tap in less than a sixtieith of a second. Not like literally every other aspect of the game holds Survivor's hands already.
In fact; why not just remove regression all together? The Killer now has a fixed time to kill everyone because Survivors can never fail skillchecks, and kicking is too long and useless to do. 🙃
I mean, it takes 2 perks to do this combo; half a Killer's perk loadout. But it's clearly unfair that Survivors might sometimes have a gen explode. That's just so unintended and unfair. Hold Survivor hands harder, please!
Jesus, bit dramatic.
-
God I hope not.

@hailxsatanxeveryxday Michael has several good addons. Tombstone Piece is just broken and unhealthy though. Plus, let's be real, nearly every Michael runs a stalking speed addon. As for Judith's Tombstone, yeah it's basically useless and flat out needs a rework.

YES.
Survivors cry about NOED being unfair because "it gives kills you do not earn", and yet to Mori someone with Myers to have to spend half the game throwing. That is about as earned as it gets, short of a 5 stack Pentimento/Devour.
Anybody with two brain cells knows Tombstone Piece is just broken. It's ridiculously easy to hit T3 with it and Mori someone.

Winning is not BS. Each side has strategies that make up for their weaknesses. You're just whining because killers are actually smarter than you and outplay you at your own game everytime they know to counter your uncounterable triple stack of 2nd chance perks by tunneling the hell out of you before you'd ever get your chance to deploy them in endgame, where they are so powerful & where you'd be pretending that's because you're totally outplaying them there instead.
If you can't win without a psyops campaign challenging the abstract inherent worth of a win... well, you are complexly bad....
Uhh I didn't say winning was bs? How am I whining? I stated my opinion, nothing more. Further they can't "outplay" my triple stack of perks that I don't use.

Against solo potatoes who don't know how to do gens, you are correct. Against coordinated survivors who know how to do gens and know how to actually loop or even shift + W and pre-drop pallets, you are incorrect unless you're playing Nurse or Blight, and even then it's a struggle.
You and many other players just like to call killers bad in order to shame them from using those tactics whereas survivors are legendary players for crutching on 4 second chance perks and maps that are designed to give them an advantage over the killer.
Killers who tunnel and camp are not bad, its the survivors who fall due to those tactics that are bad. If the killer was really bad, the survivor should have no trouble distracting the killer long enough for the gens to pop, especially these days, with how 3 gens usually pop before a killer gets their first down.
I don't care what tactics they use. Tunneling and camping is lazy and used by bad killers. Will good killers use those tactics? Sure, but it's not their default. As for survivors DH is for lazy survivors who don't want to get better. The other meta perks exist solely to counter scummy tactics.

Killer playing how survivors want them to play, which is being nice and not tunneling and camping, only to have it back fire on them because playing nice allowed those perks to take effect in endgame, is BS. Killers can't win with survivors no matter how they play. If they play by the Survivor Rule Book for Killers, they lose and get taunted at the exit gates and in chat, if they tunnel and camp to counter those perks, they get insulted.
As I said, if he tunneled the Dwight earlier in the match, he wouldn't have had to deal with DS in end game.
You do not have to camp and tunnel in order to win. If that is the only way you can win you are simply bad.
-
@Alionis said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2788482#Comment_2788482
Look, if you're going to join in, at least make the basic effort of reading the original post. They didn't coordinate #########, that was all Dwight by himself.
I did read, Dwight didn't unhook himself. So that means there was at least a second person. If there was only a second person then you got out played. Otherwise if there were multiple people trying to rescue it was a coordinated effort.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
End game BS like this is why killers are tunneling and camping more and more these days. It's easier and less frustrating to deal with the survivor meta when you tunnel and camp from the start and why Bubba is popular. You can't play nice and spread out hooks and hope to do well in endgame.
End game is not bs. Each side bring perks to help with their weaknesses. OP is whining because they coordinated a rescue.

Well done, Grand Admiral.
Though it is more than a simple case of nostalgia. I have an undying love towards what DBD used to be. That is the game that I fell for back in 2018, and that is the game I wish to play.
I like to say that "if it has old, GeneralV is sold". There are very few exceptions to this rule and Old Ruin, my favorite killer perk, is definitely not one of them.
I can get that. It does feel like the spirit of the game, no pun intended, just isn't what it once was.

Yeah but like as an example let’s say Noed for example. Most ppl agree the perk is unhealthy even if it’s not OP. But when ppl bring it up others say “do bones” and when ppl bring up solo queue a common response is “well use small game” and I don’t want more situations like that to occur.
Fair enough.

Bringing perks to counter other perks is a slippery slope.
It's not just countering perks. BT and DS have been nearly mandatory for a long time to counter tunneling. Tunneling is definitely not fun, but it's part of the game. Not saying that there aren't some pretty egregious maps though.

By what measure? I don't ask this to be argumentative. I genuinely don't see anything about old Ruin that was better.

My love for Ruin was reduced to atoms when the change dropped.
Old Ruin was honestly overrated. All it did was force people to learn to hit greats. It's current version is much stronger provided you can build a bit of pressure.

I wanna say something to you right now. I'm not allowed to until Friday.

Because if it's run by itself in solo it's situationally useful. Run with other perks to combo with it in solo it's less situational, but still hardlyfool proof. It's only truly useful in a swf which builds around it. Add to this there are plenty of counters and it shakes up the meta.As for it being healthy, that's easily the most debatable part as it's entirely subjective.

Lol. Imagine being upset about a 4% chance mechanic.
I love it when people get a self-unhook (that doesn't include Deliverance). If I'm playing Killer, I almost always actively try to keep them alive, just because it's so damn difficult. As long as they didn't burn a Luck Offering of course. They've earned at least a chance to get out alive.
Have had a few matches that got turned around too when a Survivor got that 4%, and we ended up escaping. It usually does end in failure though, but hey, RNGesus giveth and he taketh away.
Honestly even with a luck offering the chances are still pitiful.

Except for the COH "nerf" it didn't help because of the boon mechanic as a whole which the devs say is fine even though it's not.
Also then if that was the case it also shows bias cause survivor perks lately have been getting slaps on the wrist but killers like slinger got gutted with no compensation so why should the trickle down nerfs justify them from being survivor biased?
Even the buffs for killers doesn't help cause look at who they buff which from I remember was trapper ,nurse ,hag (who I think got nerfed afterwards ) and wraith.
They said working as intended, not fine. Granted I think boons need changed. I agree Slinger was over nerfed. I don't think it implies an inherent bias. The main thing complained about with Slinger was him being able to fake his gun so easily. Which they did fix, but ended up going too far.

Except it's wasn't just boil over its the COH nerf that wasn't a real nerf and more. yes killers got one perk but you still have to deal with brain dead perks and mechanics that made playing survivor easier when everything is shown.
CoH got a small nerf to see if it helps. If it doesn't, they can go further. I prefer they try small moves rather than instantly nerfing things to the ground.
